>>88097055Those are both loadouts of the Heavy Support Squad formation, which has many more options besides. Depending on need and preference such squads can be specialized in a number of different ways, as doctrine and organization allows for it. Just because they pick up different guns they don't stop being a Heavy Support squad. The nomenclature is determined by their role as heavy support. But the moment a Hellblaster trades in his Belisarius-pattern plasma Incinerator for a Belisarius-pattern superfrag rocket launcher, he becomes a Desolator. The nomenclature is determined by a gun.

If you could add any new faction to the game, what would it be, and what kind of niche would it fill? Hazard stripes are gay
GW makes such strange business decisions sometimes. They introduce a bunch of new things that nobody asked for (but a lot of people bought), catered to nostalgiagrogs by putting out Necromunda, Squats and Genestealer Cults as well as new Sisters of Battle, brought back the Horus Heresy setting with a bunch of plastics but at the same time decided to remove a shitload of resin things from FW without replacing them with any plastic equivalents. So much has been lost, never to come back. I do not understand this - wouldn't it be sensible from a business standpoint to replace the products before they're gone forever? And that's not even mentioning the many, many figures that have been removed from the regular webstore without any warning whatsoever. It's almost like they WANT third-party creators to fill the niche, but that would mean lost profits. Saturation? Bloat?Pardon for my poor English, I am ETL.
>>88097622I guess KKK are the only guys with white robes around where you live?

>>88097654What do you know about their business that you can call that a strange business decision? Some stuff they removed probably didn't sell well or at all, so it wouldn't make sense releasing a plastic version of something that didn't sell before pulling the original model.

>>88097743there is nothing manly than dominating another man
>>88097331The only model I'd get from them is the Cerastus Knight and that would only be to have a different knight that plays different from the rest of the army. But even then third party recasts are available now. So there's less need for FW.FW started as a way to make obscure models to order. The resin casting was viable for this, especially while pewter was being phased out. This way the five people on earth who liked Krieg (at the time, before nu-fans and wwi century coverage made them a meme), could have their models, and things like Baneblades and Titans could be made without massive costs by scaling up their production. FW is being phased out now so there's less need for them. That's why GW's been printing plastic Krieg, for example. And why Horus Heresy turned into a whole game with an updated plastic range. I imagine FW is going to be killed off. And it'll become a footnote and the models will become a curiosity. Beards will say "hey remember when you got that resin tank from FW and you had to warm up the guns to straighten them out because they bent during shipping?" And other nonsense we had to put up with back then. And they're overpriced because there isn't an economy of scale for them. You're paying 1200 euros for a silly plane because you're basically paying a dude in a shed to pour out each sprue for you. Compared to a factory that process is expensive. But it works for centerpiece models and little conversion pieces.

>>88097786>I imagine FW is going to be killed off.I doubt it. It's been how many years since they last released a new model that wasn't an upgrade kit for HH or something for a specialist game? >>88097816I pull out my glock
>>88097816>but thunder wolves only killed 3How where they equipped? Because if they were going with the classic TH and SS then it's literally the worst weapon to send against them. They are 1W 4+ models, you need anti-infantry not antitank.
>>88097821>>88097830I think you two are right, and it doesn't necessarily contradict what I said. It'll be around for now in that capacity, and they'll keep the big models up for sale because they can just make them on demand. >>88097613Something fucking weird, alien or machine-like.
>>88098013>>88098050Once you make it a playable faction it'll suck all the mystery out of it.
>>88097613>I keep hearing that Skaven would be fun, but I don't see it - partially because the game already has several horde armies, but also because they don't have much else going for them that would set them apart from any other Chaos forces other than being ratmen.I don't want them either, because their entire niche and idea is already taken by the GSC. GSC literally are just skaven, not rats essentially and some existential eldritch alien god shit mixed in.I personally think that we don't need more armies for 40k at this point, GW can't even really keep up with all the stuff it's producing now. Like just go to their webstore and check any of the 40k ranges and you'll notice that how much of the products are out of stock completely.I think most niche alien stuff could work as Kill Team stuff, I think that'd be neat and give many of them the spotlight, though it'd mean there wouldn't whole lot of units, but you gotta make trade offs.In a perfect world we would have all the alien races and whatever in 40k as full armies with multiple kits and all factions and subfactions would also have bunch of upgrade kits to use as well. But this is not a perfect world sadly. But if I had to bring in an alien race as an army, I'd probably go with Slann or variation of them. So basically alien lizardmen/frogmen that are lead by the Old Ones, I guess, and maybe throw some dragons there kinda like in DnD.I don't fucking know man.
>>88097613>If you could add any new faction to the game, what would it be, and what kind of niche would it fill?Skaven. It would be a mix between Orks and GSC, with a Chaos twist.

I think tabletop game companies should just make rule systems, and let proxies be legal, and then if they offered official models, that would just be something fun big fans could buy just like other merch like t-shirts, etc. Then they could focus on rules, and make a bunch of factions because they wouldn't have to actually support making the models.

>>88098092Fair enough. Granted they've kept Tyranids pretty mysterious for the most part, but looking how Necrons went from mysterious, to Tomb Kings in space that's a legit concern. (I actually don't mind the Nu-crons since there was too much overlap with the nids having two mysterious factions that just silently killed worlds, but I do think fleshing out the necrons killed their spookiness.)
>>88096833>What unit(s) would you squat?Honestly, I just would want to combine the Company Veterans, Vanguard Veterans and Sternguard Veterans into one unit. 'Honor Guard' for your bodyguarding company vets. 'Vanguard' for close combat, 'Sternguard' for your ranged. Throw in another one or two, and you'd be good.

>>88098250>Granted they've kept Tyranids pretty mysterious for the most partNot really, we already know why they are here, it's the Pharos shit that drew them in. And yes, I know the Astronomican shit, but it is a fact in canon that the light of the Astronomican does not reach beyond the galactic rim, that's why it is so dangerous to make warp jumps on the galactic rim since the Astronomican's light is so faint and hard to see.Meaning it could never been the thing that pulled in the Tyranids, though once they entered the galaxy, then they've started to follow it. But before that the only thing that drew them in was the Pharos beacon.Still tho, they are not as mysterius as people think, they are literally just animals with an animalistic hivemind that only wants to eat. What's the most likely thing and origin for Tyranids is that they are essentially just a galagtic version of wildebeasts, but visit galaxies every couple of million years.Meaning they just eat whatever and once the resources and food has been exhausted in one area, they move into somewhere else, and it is possible that the Milkyway Galaxy was going to be next one in their list anyway.
