>>88080063Chaos dwarfs are good and all, but cathay before verminlords is unforgivable
Gonna be honest, when the DLC comes out I kinda wanna rip it from the game and 3d print itScale it for a 150mm x 100mm base and its the correct size for the tabletopshame the k'daai destroyer never got its official model, but this'll do
>Peak performance
so what are the generals' thoughts on Skink PC? they seem overly restricting in certain ways like the lack of ability to change career at all even though one of the Careers a Skink can roll for is Outlaw which seems kinda silly.
>>88080142Honestly when TOW comes out, I wouldn't be surprised if Chorfs get a new release at some point in the future. I hope FW puts the old Tamurkhan Chorf models back into production, along with GW making a bunch of new plastic kits and a big plastic K'daai Destroyer as a centre piece model.
>>88080165They're clearly meant for Lustria oneshots, not big overall campaigns. On one hand the restriction of the game into Empire PoV only is unique, on the other it is terribly limiting. But it's your game and you can play it as you like, ignoring such things if you don't like them.
>>88080165I meanThey're lizardsThey're effectively biological robots
>>88080249as much as i'd love it, I doubt itchorfs were always niche, and GW is catering for the china money with cathay despite cathay being nowhere near the old worldtheres no reason for cathay to be in TOW and the development of an army could have the time spent elsewhere on factions people actually give a shit about
>>88080304Chorfs were niche, but now they would be mainstream. If they got a full range re-fresh with new models they would absolutely sell well due to their pretty unique designs and army list. >despite cathay being nowhere near the old worldAll the more reason to actually fill in the gaps between Cathay and the Old World.Obviously I'm wishing out loud and really pissed off that FW doesn't sell any of the Throne of Chaos stuff any more, but I think it would still be a good business decision on GW's half.
>>88080165Fitting. They are bound to the great plan after all.
>>88080142A weapon to surpass metal gear...
>>88080384 my recaster sells almost all of it speaking of, how big is Tamurkhan on his toad dragon? some of the angles make it seem small while others make it seem huge
>>88073266>If they can make factions out of Norsca and the Vampire Coast, they could do something with Araby.People need to shut about Vampire Coast, they had more units in their roster than Bretonnia did, they were just missing characters.
It’s nice to see the Big Hats are back, and what I can only guess to be the immortals are going to make it in as well, really just missing the Harridans to make me a happy Chorf.
>>88080615He's a very big model. I think he sat on a 100x150 base but I'm not sure. Also which remaster would sell those things?
>>88081232>HarridansNot canon.
>>88080615>>88081237Yeah, he's on a 100x150 base. Also he is very big and he's damn heavy since it's non-hollowed resin.
>>88081237 not telling.
>>88081298More canon than YOU
>>88081592Ahh I started reading it and now my head is stuck in a 90 degree angle, are you gonna pay for my medical bills?
>>88081630
>>88081704Kek
>there are no plans to make Araby playable ever, fuck you What did Grace mean by this?
>>88080249I still remember that zharr naggrund was on one of the earliest maps things they showed, so I do seriously think chorfs will get a model line, especially when theyve brought much more obscure model lines back like squats>hope FW puts the old Tamurkhan Chorf models back into productionThink its more likely that tamurkhan stuff will be swapped to plastic, like what happened to the trygon
>>88081232Only thing I'm worried about is that between those new Immortal like guys and the infernal guard (and more elite glowing mask variant) the Chorf are loosing their supposed weakness of "lack of elite infantry" (or at least lack of diversity in elite infantry) is gone. Really stretching into "better dwarf" territory.
>>88080249considering how they didn't follow the chorf trailer with a warhammer community article, I'm going to say chorfs will get a release through aos and not through tow
>>88080134I hate you for denying me a good image of a dread saurianI love you for it took me a while to notice
>>88082492that picture is just an old map, this is a new map that shows zharri though, somewhat
>>88080252What, they don't have stuff for Estalians or Tileans? Aren't they the main ones colonising the new world?
>>88084351No, they just have a couple named NPCs with no true relevance. If they mattered, they'd have actual heroes. Fwiw, Tilea got it's gazetteer and PC race in Up In Arms
>>88084351None is colonizing the new world
>>88080142I liked the fan-made K'daai Destroyer more. That things got weird lil legs and oversized arms
we got a name for fishmen(?)
>>88080142>>88084368titan forge has had this for a while. Always thought it was supposed to be a Kdaai Destroyer.
>>88084496Apparently also the name of an Irish saint. Lots of places with the name Marnock around. Could be a reference to something else entirely as well.
Still not there on my ghoul colours
>>88080615he is really big, overflows the 100x150mm base, especially the tail.
>>88084553>>88084368i think they're allowed to be very different from one another by the MA fluff
>>88080249>big plastic centerpieceAwful, terrible, no thanks
TOW should not have individual casualty removal, leave that for border patrol.
>>88084151Im afraid that ship sailed years ago. Legion of Azgorh were dwarfs but better, a wider roster with mobility and offensive melee elements + magic while keeping more or less all the same strengths. The only things dwarfs had on them was access to conventional cannons (chaos dwarfs lacked those) and stronger melee lords.
>>88084351No. The colonization of the new world by Estalians and Tileans is a tiny footnote on the human presence in the region. The main old world colony is Skeggi (which is very norse).People dont come to the new world to make a house, they come there to try and steal some lizardman gold (or more accurately die trying)
>>88080384>But now they would be mainstream>tfw if GW drops a new chorf army for AoS/ToW, people will think I am only chasing shiny new army since I never felt like dropping nearly 10 burgerbux per model for finecast I just like evil industrialists with big hats and artillery. Between them and Throgg, I am sad I missed out on the tail end of Warhammer before Endtimes happened.
>>88084947why not? it wouldn't be warhammer without it
>>88085286Because it makes games drag when you have hundreds of the guys per side. It has its place but when you need to dedicate a part of the table for your casualties it gets pretty damn silly. Like, at least put that in as an option for games of 4k+ points.
>>88084368Wouldn't surprise me if the Destroyer uses the Stonehorn skeleton for a base.
>>88085313I wonder why, iirc from monstrum arcanum they weren't that tough.
>>88085307Oh yea, removing like 8 little plastic models really drags the game out.
>>88085333I play Empire so it's more than 8.
>>88085336You play empire. Your largest unit is 40 men at most. This unit is going to be losing in the area of 8/10 dudes at once, perhaps twice that on very lucky artillery and magic hits. This process takes an equivalent number of seconds at most
>>88085351>This process takes an equivalent number of seconds at mostI can assure you it does not, especially when some guys I've played with remove each model individually very slowly.Took him 30 seconds for five Dwarfs and my side of the table had an unusable corner because of all the figures strewn about to make the process as fast as possible.
>>88085361>I can assure you it does notI can assure you it does,
>>88080384I think it depends on the design, most people who bought into legion of Azgorh only liked the newest designs of blank facemasks etc and hated the tall hats and tusks on dwarfs. I was surprised how retro/classic CA went with them so presumably GW did absolutely nothing to give them updated concept art and they also decided to stick pretty close to what there was, bearing in mind the Astragoth model is what, 28 years old?
>>88084151there are unit caps on the corf infantry but not greenskins
>>88085073>>88080384Secondaries don't buy models. Especially after the 3 price hikes we'll have had by the time TOW comes out.
>>88085384Yeah I'm not really surprised, hats and tusks are pretty iconic for Chaos Dwarfs and are about first thing you think about when imagining them, not them looking like small chaos warriors
>>88085317Ah, I meant model-wise, rather than lorewise. I meant it in a sense that CW probably used the Stonehorn's skeleton as a base for when they modelled the Destroyer. They look to have similar proportions, and its a well known cost-saver to reuse similar assets when applicable.
>>88085538all of what you said is irrelevant to vat majority of people even in the hobby, the legion of azgorh style facemasks etc has far more influence and pull on people than old chaos dwarfs ever did. Look at any STL sites, it's all based off that clean facemask design.
>>88085307>when you have hundreds of guys per sideHave you tried not playing 8th edition?
>>88085616NTA but you get quite a few 3rd party designs based on the silly hats aesthetic. Its a very unique look, so some people like it.
>>88085616>Look at any STL sites, it's all based off that clean facemask designis this sarcasm?
>>88085538When people think chaos dwarfs they think twisted industrialists in heavy armor, not beefeaters in dresses
>>88085697I think of Assyrians in silly hats and flying bulls.
>>88085697when people think chaos dwarfs they think ass cannons, trains, bulls, bluderbussies, but above all, their silly hatssilly hats were the key to their success in spite of the long years of absenceeven eldar thrived specifically thanks to their hats, to jes's surprisehats are life, like it or hate it
Is it ever explained how the Chaos Dwarfs manage to enslave Greenskins?
>>88085739Violence.
>>88085722You're confusing memetards with actual chorf fans.
>>88085774Where is your chorf army señor fan?
>>88085786Unpainted and unassembled in a box. But I do own them.turns out my fomo buying was justified considering they were squatted soon after
>>88085739The same way anyone else does? Greenskins will obey if you smack them around enough. Theyre just not very good slaves is the issue (which is why the chorfs had to try and engineer better slaves out of them, which led to the black orcs which almost wiped them out).
>>88085800Based.
Huh
>>88085936Let's you sprinkle lizzies in places where you typically wouldn't find them.
>>88085936Didn't the Shadows over Albion campaign conclude with the founding of a new Temple City on Albion?
>>88086015I think they did, terraforming a piece of it to be more like Lustrias climate. There was also Neuland, the imperial colony, as well as some dark elf one and some greenskin one too. Dunno if HE got one
>>88085936the Laurelorn forest one is a reference to a Gate in Tor Lithinal that currently not working
>>88085774some chorf fans come from memetards, you can pretend otherwise, but it's the truth
>>88080142>>88084368>>88084553>>88084809All of these are valid and canon looks for the unit. They're supposed to be personal masterpieces of dwarf artisans, not some mass-produced thing with blueprints and specifications.
>>88085936there are also a lot of hints and references towards troglodytes, so I don't know how many of those "lizrdmen out of lustria" are actual lizardmen or just those other lizard men
>>88085697Think it's safe to say that most people associate chaos dwarfs with bronze age bastard. As for me I think of the oldhammer mini me's, regenages and almost oriental looking fuckers, because I'm a terminal contrarian.
so what are the types of Flora and Fauna PC might encounter in the deserts of Lustria? the book doesn't even bother to mention these admittedly small biomes on the continent but for such a large book it is a rather odd omission since every were else has so much detail to it. maybe C7 plans to release more books about Lustria later
Any of you faggots familiar with Warhammer Renaissance? Any thoughts on it? Someone is shilling it hard in my local groupI only have Lizardmen, and I hear it's a 4th edition type of remake, so if they are included, what should I expect?
>>88086735dude, it's a desert, there isn't much in there
>>88086735if lustria proves successful, I'm betting on C7 reaching nehekara
Finally 20 madmen are done. In between final guys I managed to squeeze in a warlock which will be my 'count as' necromancer for VC.
>>88086988
Do you fa/tg/uys think chorfs will return in the old world? My money is on yes even though I fucking hate that stupid meme faction
>>88086999GW didn't put up a TOW article when the trailer dropped, so I doubt it. There's still a chance it'll happen when the DLC releases but if not then, I doubt they're coming with any new stuff. They'll probably get rules but no new models.
>>88087018Thank christ, let them die in obscurity.
>>88086735>FloraIts lustria, so just take the already hellish nature that desert plants have and crank it up a little. Stuff like cacti that explode little portions of themselves when they sense somethings near by so that theyll stab into something and be carried away so that they can propogate, barb wired tumble weeds that can end up numbering in the hundreds during windstorms, and incredibly enticing, juicy datura fruits that already start to kill you the moment the juice touches your skin>FaunaThis one isnt quite as fun, since desert animals tend to be either bugs, reptiles, and other small animals, and lustrias jungles are already brimming with the first two, so putting 'tarantula but desert' isnt quite interesting. You could play up the small animal part I suppose, stegodons the size of big horn sheep that let gravity do most of the work when they try to ram you off a cliff face, or camel sized sauropods. You could be a little tongue and cheek, saying in the absence of lustrias reptilian megafauna, the deserts are now populated by giant forms of scorpian, ant, and the dreaded tarantula wasp
>>88087070Bit late for that, anon
>>88086999Not for a long time after release I'd say.
I would like to thank this anon for helping me solve the mystery of Gargoyles in Warhammer>>88067064 in summary:Gargoyles and Harpies were different creatures throughout 3rd edition, the Gargoyle was a Demon of Chaos, the Harpy was a neutral animal with no relation with ChaosIn 4th edition, a hybrid creature is made by GW, it looks closer to a Demon than Harpies ever did, but it is 100% an animal and not a demon, that may be made by the influence of Chaos. This hybrid creature is employed by both Dark Elves and Hordes of Chaos, and it is called "Harpy", using the stats from the 3rd edition Harpy and not the Gargoyle.During 6th edition, GW decides the two creatures must be split again. The Dark Elves get their "harpies" with a new feminine model, while the Hordes of Chaos are supposed to continue using their old model. In this small period of time (from 2001 to 2002) the Chaos Harpy is considered by GW a "return to the Gargoyle"....However only one picture of this moment exists, and it is in the Annuary 2002 (the picture I posted). In 2002 Chaos gets an updated model for their flying unit, much like the Dark Elves did one year earlier. This new "Chaos Gargoyle" is now no longer a "chaos beast" or a kind of beastman, it is officially a demon of Chaos Undivided again (as it was in the old 3rd edition), and this means it has to change name: demons appear identical in Warhammer 40k now, and this means it will have to face the Tyranids, that now have a unit named "Gargoyle".The new flying unit thus can not be named harpy, and can not be a gargoyle, and that's when the new name appears: it is a CHAOS FURY....So that's the full story of Chaos Gargoyles and their brief semi-official existence from 2001 to 2002
>>88087573What about the gargoyles in the castle drachenfels rpg book
>>88087661That seems to be from 1992, which fits the timeline, because:- Harpies and Gargoyles were "merged" in 1994- the stats and the model for the old 3rd edition Warhammer Gargoyle are from 1991

>>88086998>>88086988Nice! I have that warlock mini, though he'll be a hireling wizard in my DoW, though ddon't know what lores to use him as. Maybe metal since he looks like an alchemist?
>>88087661Don't forget the Flying Gargoyles of Barda. Which according to the blurb >The Barda Gargoyles were a new and previously unknown type of Lesser Demon
>>88087573I see no mystery though
>>88087782As you can see the Flying Gargoyles of Barda are presented at the same time as the normal Warhammer Gargoyles in the third citadel compendium, being a special regiment of renown of Gargoyles which, unlike normal gargoyles, is resistant to fire magic, and is therefore "a new and previously unknown type" of gargoyle.Gargoyles were normal demons in 3rd edition
>>88087824The mystery was the publication in 2001 of a book with the 1996 Harpy unit named as "gargoyle", which made me go through the rabbit hole of gargoyles in warhammer and now I'm an expert of this useless shit(but it was fun to research)
>>88087849did GW release any catalog after 2011-2012?do they now?
>>88088056I think after that date everything was online so no need for the publication of a catalog...and also the only Citadel models for Warhammer Fantasy after that date were probably the Giant and End Times stuff and nothing elsealso the business model changed from "buy our classic miniatures, remember the old stuff?" to "BUY NEW THING! >>88092065Here is the issue; No "old world" human faction is allowed to have more or bigger guns than the empire, the empire is the most developed and industrial nation out of the humans. Second, thats not how theyve been described since 3e. Based on their lore in warhammer proper, araby wouild field hordes of slave soldiers (bretonnian peasants but worse) supported by some more elite armored regiments and then finally the elephants (monstrous beasts) and some magical elements. The guns would be relegated to more elite infantry regiments which wouldnt be very common, being either the professional elites (as opposed to the slaves) or pirates and stuff. The desert tribes would be fighting with spears and bows and shit.
>>88092123The empire could have numerous advanced guns.Araby could have BIG guns, fuckhuge cumbersome bombards who remain stationary on the battlefield because they're moved around by hundreds of slaves(oxen are boring).

>>88092206>Where are you getting slave soldiers from?https://broheim.net/downloads/towncryer/TownCryer20.pdfAlso a little bit of inference on my part from their sending hordes upon hordes of soldiers (separate from their elite bodyguard and cavalry) in the "the river of blood" story in 7e WoC - said soldiers had issue with a norse force they outnumbered by literally an order of magnitude, so they couldnt have been particularly good.
>>88092123If it was on me I'd base Arabayans around a core of (overpriced) gunpowder janissaries that have to rely on lightly armoured and fast "tribal auxiliary" type units that ambush and vanguard and whatnot. Think Dwarfs but with less emphasis on armour and more emphasis on miners and rangers.
After careful study I've come to the deliberation that the world had 8 families of dragonsNo, I'll not elaborate further today
>>88087573You're welcome
>>88092365Yea, that sounds about right to me. A very lightly armored and mobile faction with lots of access to fast cav and skirmishers via the tribesmen, and then a more professional elite core of heavily armored hybrid infantry for the bodyguard of your various emirs and sultans. Add to that some monstrous cavalry like elephant riders and then some djinn as rare choices and you have something different enough from the empire (or any other faction in the game)Like chaos dwarfs, but with a greater emphasis on numbers and mobility instead of a gunline.
>>88092363Its not "the river of blood" its "the crimson river" (same fucking thing, hence my mistake), and it wasnt even just "an order of magnitude", it was potentially several (less than a hundred norse raiders vs armies of many thousands strong)Either the gorehunt were built very different and the empire got lucky they never came south before, or the arabians field the equivalent of skavenslaves most of the time.
>>88092397This truly was the missing piece of my little puzzle(and also this old video that was confirmation)https://youtu.be/L_Xrv-5UYZ4?t=101

>>88092546if you can assault a vertical wall you can assault a Ziggurat staircase
>>88092546Very slowly.
>>88092602Based Spaniards.
>>88092430Seems reaching to imply that's because they're fielding weak slave soldiers since we've only ever seen in fluff elite eunuchs. They've had stats in the game back in Oldhammer, in Aklan'd's death commandos the unit champion was one such soldier. So nothing implies they field chaff, and rather that their normal soldiers were outmatched by an incredibly powerful chaos tribe time and again.
>>88092838>since we've only ever seen in fluff elite eunuchsWell, thats just not true. Look at their mordheim roster for example. And if all they fielded was elite soldiers why would the specific bodyguards and cavalry be presented as a "and then the emirs sent X"?

>>88092861>Look at their mordheim roster for exampleThey don't have a Mordheim roster, that's fan made. The slave soldiers we've seen in canon, those being Hassim here and the personal warriors of the sultan accompanying Ibn Jellaba, weren't cannonfodder.
>>88092926>hey don't have a Mordheim roster, that's fan made. Its from town cryer, which is official as far as I can tell.
>>88092948Reading it now, it's tomb raiders made up of desert nomads from the east of Araby. Which is the opposite way from crimson river. They're also limited in number, so they're not even the core of what can't be seen as indicative of how the army is made up.But yeah, town cryer is official. Araby does have modern tabletop stats.
gonna be honest guysthe TWW3 trailer makes me wanna buy some Chaos Dwarfs also a trailer for the next vernintide 2 map dropped earlier, with some skins being added that look like belegar ironhammer, king leouen and alarielle?

>>88093598Because they're machines with engines that have daemons in them.
>>88093598Vash'torr is a god of industry/machine.Hashut is a god of fire, greed and tyranny. Two very different things, Chorf aren't industrious because they worship Hashut, they are industrious because they are Dwarfs.
>>88084151>>88085404>>88084983>>88081298Chaos Dwarfs aren't 'worse elite infantry' but 'fewer' with a higher points cost. It's closer to skaven with slaves and non-slaves, but Infernal Guard can actually fight with other elites, as opposed to Stormvermin being more of a mid-tier unit. Chaos Dwarf infantry remains strong like dwarfs, but few and supplemented with lots of cheap low point cost trash mob slaves like goblins, lead by somewhat less shitty hobgoblins.
>>88093575>dark elf has dark skinunacceptable
>>88093645Considering their base infantry is already closer to Longbeards than warrior and there is three entire tiers of infantry above them, it's safe to say Chorf will have better elite infantry than Dwarf.
>>88093645Infernal guard are priced like longbeards and are comparable to them (or ironbreakers for that matter)Theyre not even "fewer" elites

>>88093656>>88093655Assuming we're talking about TWW3, infernal guard has specific unit caps like Tomb Kings so cost is less of the issue than simply being blocked from recruiting them, as opposed to normal dwarfs who can theoretically recruit infinite longbeards if they have the money for it.

>>88093671There is face-masked Immortal style guy between infernal guard and them.>>88093668Knowing TWW3, it will never be a problem, since the game is made to let you run few armies anyway and the Chorf design mean you want to leave space for your mobility units/monsters. >>88093708>Knowing TWW3, it will never be a problem, since the game is made to let you run few armies anyway and the Chorf design mean you want to leave space for your mobility units/monsters. The theorical infinite longbeards is basicly a spook.Technically it's a spook because Dwarfs got nerfed, since before the nerfs the dwarfs were taking over the entire map with infinite longbeards.
>>88093761It's more of a "AI got infinite money" than "Dwarf are OP"Beside Dwarftide is dead since like 6 or even 7 years
>>88093761They could "tide" because they have + global recruitment and had the AI for confederations set too easy (plus greenskins were sucky for a long time)Now that the greenskins are an actual faction and confederation happens less they just get kicked to the curb, but the faction wasnt changed.
>>88093667>[citation needed]
>>88093773Dwarftide was a thing in ME.
>>88093809Anon, ME WAS 6 years ago. Dawitide was quickly replaced by Vamptide when the Vampire coast kicked strong, and never returned in any significance after the Greenskin update made them confederation machine.
>>88093653>>88093667>*elven skin color should run the range of human skin color because it's hotter when the dark elf is also a brown girl
>>88093761>>88093773>>88093781The "ordertide" and its more specific variants happened for a collection of factors working together. The empire, dwarfs and bretonnia didnt have too many natural enemies for a long time, chaos would spawn quite late and beastmen and greenskins were very tame (and vampires had their AI nerfed into the ground after they were too dominant for a while) so you would end up with a largely untouched block of factions which are all roughly friendly with each other and which would confederate their respective sub-factions quickly, which would result in a massive industrial base. Its not that any individual faction was OP, its that the circumstances they were placed in set them up to win. Similarly Malekith would generally dominate his side of the map, except now they added more factions near him (that arent just dark elves for him to confederate) and he doesent. The faction that has that issue now is Cathay, but I imagine that will change with time.
>>88093832Ordertide is broken nowday anyway ; half the time Festus buck-break the Empire.
>>88093873Thats because the ordertide only happened because of fortunate spawn positions (and two very gimped factions)Now that the north of the empire is an actual threat due to having playable factions in it and with there being native threats to the empire it doesent tide. Likewise bretonnia doesent tide either, or the dwarfs. A "tide" happens when there arent enough native threats to keep a faction from just peacefully taking over its neighbours and techning up.

>>88081298I’m the reason anyone even knows of the Harridans, I’ve been spamming that shit for years, I’m half surprised it caught on. There is mention of the life cycle of female Chaos Dwarfs in one of the WFRPG books, these books have been used by CA (yeah yeah I know, not TT doesn’t matter), to create new units and heroes for their Warhammer Fantasy total war games. Yeah well of the mention of the female Chorfs, it says that the once who are can no longer bare children (as that’s their main job), will normally go off to join a temple of Hashut, and serve the Temple and it’s High Priest… I don’t remember what else it says, but one of their mention jobs was to “escort the ruling High Priest whenever he leaves the Temple, and see to his every need and protection if needed.”So boom, Harridans actually have some meat on the bones to support them as more then just a one off mention. Now if only I could get the WFRP 1st edition lore to stick, then I can laugh at the fallout over Chorfs having Harems, and Harems with their own family members inside of said harem, I miss the older more mature lore for the evil factions.

Just know that RalPartha has Demonworld, which is 15mm and Mirliton also has a LotR inspired 15mm Fantasy range. So some of the results will be for smaller dragons.Another options is of course always Reaper.
