How long does it take for you to play a 2000 points game? A common complaint about gw games that I see is that it takes ages to play them compared to something like Kings of War (which achieves faster playtime by multibasing and removing player interactions nearly completely) or OPR (which plays faster due to extreme streamlining).

Still new to the hobby, should I varnish my finished minis by default? I heard it can have either a matt or gloss finish, but that also means you'd potentially un-gloss or un-matt parts you did so on purpose right?

I would also just tell you to buy a satin varnish spray, liquitex or vallejo are good brands and you can also go cheap with like krylon or rustoleum, they're essentially the same thing. Painting clear liquid over models gets real boring, especially for a horde army.
