Hong's anon here, the auction set for the Hong Clan:>50x Moonlight Drinking Flower (5 Premium Quality, 10 High Quality, 30 Average Quality, 5 Low Quality): A flower cultivated by the Hong Clan, where and how it is cultivated is only known by the Clan Leader. It holds special alchemic properties, being able to draw impurities to itself purifying other materials, as well as using said impurities to enhance its properities. It has a great affinity for yin aspect, being able to easily enhance yin aspected pills to a greater degree. Even when not used in Yin recipes, their purifying and refining effects on other ingredients are highly regarded for improving recipes. They can be ground down to a powder by an experient alchemist, for a greater shelf life and effiency . The higher the quality, the stronger it and its byproducts are. In the hands of a good alchemist, a High Grade flower turned into powder form has a life spam long enough to endure generations. >60x Sunray Lilies (10 Premium Quality, 20 High, 30 Average Quality):Less impressive than the other herb on stock of the Hong Clan, but no less powerful. It has great yang-aligned properties, being able to easily enhance healing and physique enhancing pills, as well as serving as a material to speed-up yang based cultivations, should one know such pill recipe. By itself, it can vanquish and neutralize most impurities and some poisons with ease, as well as slowing down the spread of higher grade poisons. Should it be used alongside Moonlight Drinking Flower byproducts, the yang alignment can be neutralized to make powerful neutral physical enhancing pills.
>>86828276Noted. Thanks anon.
>>86828276>10kg Sunlight Metal-rock (medium quality):A special spirit metal made by the Hong Clan, it has great yang-aligned capabilities, as well as having a passive power of weakening qi techniques around it. Should it be used by a good Item Refiner, it can make items capable of weakening qi attacks, as well as powerful physical enhancing amulets and tools, or even weapons capable of conducting Yang-aligned qi with ease. For the purpose of the auction, it is being sold in bars, each one weighing 1kg.

>>86828766Long ago, back when day and night still existed, when the shrine at the peak of Mt. Maize was still receiving its visitors, there lived a man named Kage. Kage was seemingly a pious man, looking after the shrine and it's spirit with great respect and devotion. However a darkness loomed underneath and when the tower fell and the world ended, he stole the final offerings left to the shrine for himself, not because he was fearful of starvation but because he could not stand to give up the luxury he had known as the head priest of the shrine. Once the food from the offerings dried up he began to steal the food that was meant for the priesthood. None knew of this treachery and many of the remaining members soon succumbed to starvation while Kage gorged himself on the berries and food supplies he had stolen from them. Eventually he would begin to fear for his own life, worried that he too would starve and hatched a final cunning plan. Kage knew that the revivor seeds that were used to bring back the dead, were not used immediately after Shiro blessed them. waiting patiently for the perfect time to strike and snuck away with the seeds in the middle of the "night". his preparation was for naught however, as the last remaining shrine maiden, Yuki had spotted him leave. Upon learning of this Shiro flew into a rage, quickly piecing together that his was also likely the one who stole his offerings and the food meant for his followers. He and Yuki soon began to prepare a divine ritual, a curse to punish his sins; His hunger could no longer be satisfied and yet his body would no longer eat any food without falling ill. Unaware of this fact Kage started to consume his pilfered seeds, attempting to gain immortality, however after he had eaten but a single seed, his body was twisted into a foul mockery of itself, an undead wraith who has only one goal, to end it's ever growing hunger

>>86828782It has been decades since then and now only one person remains to look after Summit Shrine, the shrine maiden who cursed him alongside Shiro. Perhaps it's regret, perhaps it's naivete, or perhaps it's just the loneliness finally getting to her, but in recent years Yuki has been bringing the food despite knowing full well that his body will reject it. Every other week when she should be helping with maintenance, she instead sneaks away with some of her food and attempts to calm his restless soul, however futile that may be. if Shiro knows of her actions he makes no outward mention of it but a growing awkwardness between the two in recent years is suggestive of something, perhaps he regrets his harshness in punishing him' or maybe he views the shell of a man beneath his notice as a deity and merely turns a blind eye to what happens to him. Of course there is another possibility, perhaps deep down Kage is still aware of his actions, even if he is no longer in control of them and that by letting Yuki bring him sustenance she extends his life and therefor his punishment.

Hi anons. I should have been working on auction things. But I was doing thanksgiving things, and had access to neither my notes (in my PC) or the internet. So, I casually tossed Ling Guang under the bus, and did a small thing with Hu Ling'er.Hu Ling'er's Misadventures: Blacklistedhttps://pastebin.com/PydtDLCy
Mr Greens was in my dream last night... I got really lost out in the middle of no where. Then the dream zooms out from my body to third-person and Green's face-cam is in the bottom right and he's controlling me. He tries to be funny and does a manic voice saying "look at this guy! he has no clue where he is right now". Then he face palms and his face turns red and he says "Who am I doing this for? This is a dream, NO ONE is watching this! This isn't a real stream. Oh my God..." He starts laughing in a subdued manner to himself. Then he's like "Alright, I'm shutting this off, it's OVER." He turns the stream off and I regain control of my body.
>>86831397Her slaughter insight isn't just for show it seems, her very first appearance and she already shows a propensity for war crimes... Surely the tigress won't create more trouble for Ling in the future, there is no way she could do worse than a terrorist attack in the name of justice, right? right?. Great introduction anon, i'm looking forward to seeing Hu managing to get into more and more absurd misadventures.
>>86831397In hindsight, I should have replied to >>86826475to make adding the story to the list. Also, G'night anons. I'll scan the thread one was time when I wake up before I stop accepting new entries into the auction.

>>86831920It's worth mentioning, the description of level 5 talents means '...effortlessly surmount a realm of cultivation to do battle'.And that's without bringing multiple lv5 talents, or perks, or hidden techniques.Meanwhile, low level hounds are more likely to talents in the 1~2 range- there's thousand of them after all, they can't all be geniuses. Similarly, with only 3~4 combined skill & intelligence, it's already pretty good if they can use earth grade techniques. For the PC's to slaughter Hounds a realm above them is pretty normal.
>>86832057Yeah but the average person in the tier the PC is in would get rekt, hence why its amusing.
>>86832119Ah, I thought you were thinking the Hounds should be able to beat the PC's specifically. I misunderstood.Yeah, normal people would be completely screwed. I imagine even the low pure rank soldiers could subdue them with 1 move. I've rot my brain from too much of these novels, so for me this kind of gap is just too normal to register.

>>86830378Thank you, anon. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Xixi is surprisingly fun to write.>>86830058>>86830117Yes, I tried to lean into the meme a bit. The bits where people thought she was "molesting" him were just her checking on his condition. For example, turning someone onto their side with their arm cushioning their head is the standard recovery position. It keeps unconscious people from doing something stupid like choking on their own blood/spit/vomit.
>>86833115Fulong Jin should be aligned with the Jin Empire. His Elder is Dai Yanmei, and the Thousand Methods School are aligned with the Jin Empire as a Central Sect. It's also up in the air whether or not Northern builds are pro-Empire or anti-Empire. Yong Zhi's an administrator, so I'd assume he's Empire-aligned too, although that might change depending on how things go with the Li Clan.
>>86833070They both tagteam her asking when she's going to give them grandkids
>>86833115Yuki's family is Empire aligned. But she herself isn't.
>>86829812Oh, I completely missed this.Small gripe, Li Huang tends to not be as wordy as he's portrayed here, speaking directly to the point. It could very well be the treatment making him more energetic, like getting heavily dosed with morphine, so it's a small gripe. Another very minor one, he wouldn't get hopeful at being offered a solution to his illness; he's already resolved himself to overcome it or die, so it would be more curiosity. His thoughts are very cold, quiet and subdued, so while he does have emotions, it's much harder for him to feel things like hope and excitement. The actualization of his lifespan being lengthened would have him feeling hope, but not the prospect of it.The big gripe is, he wouldn't readily accept a situation he wasn't sure of, and he doesn't really use white lies, so stuff like him referring to Xixi as 'aunty', or 'my memory must be blurry...' probably wouldn't happen. He has no Charisma for a reason! You did really good though, otherwise, and I think you did nail Li Huang's general attitude. I'm surprised Xixi never asked the young man to speak up, since he does always speak at whisper volume.
>>868331562 more daoists, the more the better. As i've said before I'd enjoy seeing a discussion between all the Jin aligned cultivators about the whole Li incident and how they diverge on it.
>>86833270Thanks, anon. I can give the scene another shot if you're unhappy with it. Not tonight, as I'm still feeling engorged from Thanksgiving dinner, but tomorrow.I wasn't really sure what would make him agree to do such a thing, so I leaned pretty heavily on his eyes. The white lies are an easy fix. I didn't know he spoke quietly. I must have missed that!

>>86833334I like overall how the scene happens, I'm not unhappy with it at all. I might've used poor wording, I'm really bad at criticism. He would definitely agree to the quest, he tends to take things at face value until he senses hostility.

>>86833595It is directly built into the follower mechanic. Also a demonstration of why CYOAs rarely include custom followers, because that is not the actual cause for build inflation, the CYOA barely gives you a proper seed for adding character to your followers because its central character design seed is of an isekai. You're supposed to be designing a self-insert that planeswalkers will throw into the world as part of their gambit against the canonical antagonists, and this is why the immersion-trashing "gifts" aren't given in the post-victory scenario, because those were supposed to be used to defeat the canon antagonists. Then Tankista decided that there shouldn't be crossover elements in his cinematic universe so he promised that the "Tartarus Cluster" was no longer canon and that it would not be mentioned in any remake of the Magocratic Convention CYOA. Then, much as Wormfags keep throwing their characters all over the /mcyoag/ multiverse, Tankista decided to cross settings /again/ and included a parahuman as one of the Companions in Outer Reincarnation, read Caeda's description on page 8. So please stop making Worm isekais because you're validating the existence of the Convention every time that it happens, even though your rules did everything they could to strip supernatural elements from the CYOA. Man do you know how hard I was biting my tongue when Sumer Anon was asking about the existence of magic in this multiplayer?

Finally done: https://controlc.com/c3193c4cFeaturing Musashi, Hyginus, brief appearance of Rem Rem, and mention of Torterra.I may make a short one later about how Musashi met Stratos I and possibly tie in Khamsin Jack, though I wanna characterize my MP build a bit more. Also my explanation as to why Musashi got sent forward in time and a proposed mystery:One of the time gears got sent back in time by Darkrai's shenanigans to make sure the world stays like it is. Dialga is super pissed because there's an extra time gear in one point of time and goes back to recover it. Somehow he didn't do it properly and caused Musashi to time travel forward. Unfortunately, a small connection was made between both points in time, and a new dungeon has appeared containing battle-hardened pokemon from a bygone era.

>>86833990Missed this one, thanks for reading!Originally I was going to have the Sun clan's stronghold be way over-the-top absurd (as fitting for a cultivation world) but I ultimately decided against it due to them being a minor clan while even Li Huang's major clan just has a manor or somethingeleven viewing towers free-floating atop an artificial lake that arrange themselves in the shape of the brightest constellation in the sky? pretty fuckin sickBut I did leave the description vague enough that you could read it like that if you wanted. >>86834678There are the Eight Great Clans and Seven Great Sects mentioned in the CYOA, but I think we have more than eight Great Clans now... I think the only sect outright mentioned in a build so far has been Kang Wujin and his master. There is the Four Symbols group, consisting of (I believe) Ling Guang, Yao Chunhua, and Hu Ling'er. What would the response to Cultivators doing shit like (metaphorically) bringing a sword to a fist fight/gun to a knife fight? Basically responding with substantially more lethal force than the situation may warrant. I dont really know the genre.
>>86835158If the Cultivator brings a bigger weapon to a fight then you did, then it's on the loser to explain why that isn't fair, and then find a reason to stop the fight entirely, because once the bigger weapons come out, it's basically admitting that "If you wanna keep fighting you better nut up or shut up" if that makes sense
Someone else make the next thread, I'm boutta head outGnight anons
>>86835158If you're strong enough to get away with it...Basically, you'll make enemies, and you might get a reputation for being ruthless. It's not really like Worm where you'll get a huge coalition coming down on your ass unless you REALLY piss off the wrong people.
>>86835166>>86835228thanks anonsasking more in terms of writing a character who would do the equivalent of responding to a fist fight by shooting the other dude in the face, so that works
>>86835236Yeah, cultivator fights tend to get messy, because everybody problem-solves with violence. Reasonable people are, for some reason, almost entirely absent from the genre.
>>86835114I think his views on Hong is accurate enough.
>>86835264I mean... Yes and no? I think there are a lot of reasonable people in these kinds of settings. But rather, there's rarely any point in describing a conflict between to reasonable people, since it'll just solve itself. On the flip side, conflicts between an unreasonable person (especially arrogant young masters), and a reasonable person (typically poor downtrodden characters) - well those conflicts won't just resolve themselves peacefully. So the MC has to intervene, and probably get themselves caught up a feud that will span the next hundred chapters or so.For whatever reason, it's just a thing where if you take a step back with a young master, he'll just take a step forward. So TL'DR, reasonable people exist to be bullied by unreasonable people, so that even more unreasonable people can beat someone up and still have the moral highground.
>>86835448>So TL'DR, reasonable people exist to be bullied by unreasonable people, so that even more unreasonable people can beat someone up and still have the moral highground.Yeah, you know what, this does sum it up just perfectly.
>>86835114Nothing to complain about for Hu Ling'er. She was a zealot. Now she's a different kind of zealot.Chiliu has a couple small details that are off. Her lack of expression is probably second only to a certain sickly fellow, so unless it's an extremely close duel with another weapon Dao specialist, her expression wouldn't really change. That's a more minor detail that I don't really mind though- (and who knows, maybe he only met her once, and happened across such a fight?)The bigger part is that it seems he knows she has high status in her sect. Even most of the Snow Flower Palace Elder's don't know what's up with her, let alone outsiders. No need to go changing anything, but hopefully anyone else writing up a chart will see this. I'd rather prefer the secret of her status doesn't become like the secret of the Yao clan's techniques. My own nitpicking aside, thanks for the relationship chart anon. I enjoyed it.
>>86835509He is a Diplomat of the Jin Empire, and has the backing of a Great Clan/Is a heir. So I would doubt if he didn't know, I think he wouldn't know the type of shit that is death/imprisionment if is known
>>86835574I suppose I'll put it this way, in the Snow Flower Palace, the only ones who would know would be Dao Chiliu, her master, the other couple old fossils from her master's generation, the sect leader- basically just the top top members. Unless one of them is a Jin clan spy. If there isn't a spy, he wouldn't know anything. If there is an ancestor level spy in the sect, then that spy is too big of a secret to risk exposing. The information would never reach your characters desk, because ancestors level affairs are to important to put at risk over information on juniors. So, yeah, he'd know more about her than most people. He probably know about her Dao Clan. He'd know her status is strange. He'd know about her ruin expeditions. At least that's how I imagine it.
>>86835671Jin Empire is the biggest road roller town, and Noiirthen Territorty is their backyard. Like, is a Diplomat, so ld be at least aware of some nasty stuff or secrets, there are exceptions, but unless is the type I said, you find out, you are dead in a second, or will be imprisioned in the later, he would have ma privilleged leve of knowledge regarding the Central and Northen Territory. Central is obviously why, and North has a Big Clan with Imperial backing providing information and shady stuff in the darkness. But yeah, I agree with you, Shi personally knwoing stuff isn't as palatable as one of his superiors, but I doubt that the Empire wouldn't have such information, specially in their Territories.
>>86835671>>86835685Especially since an old fossil getting a new disciple would be notable to other old fossils, who could hear of 'a strange disciple nobody is really sure the status of' and instantly make connections and guesses based on their own, centuries long knowledge of other old fossils. Somebody in the Jin Empire heavily suspects at bare minimum. Whether that information filters down...? Probably not, aside from cryptic hints to be wary around a certain individual at most.
>>86834495That was good, anon - I enjoyed it! Musashi is a neat character, and I'd love to see where you go with hm.
>>86834495Rems accidental kill total has to be in the thousands.
>>86835685I should get a new PC, this one is so bugged that is lagging the phrases so much. It may as well explode at this point
>>86835709See, the point is that no one really knows. There wasn't any disciple ceramony, or any kind of internal announcement. Chiliu just walks into the back mountains sometimes, and that's it. That'd literally be your only source of information. It's not even some kind of secret keeping information war- it's just that both master and disciple are both ice queens. They literally never told anyone.
>>86835779>"There is a strange girl wandering around the mountains who uses THAT old hag's techniques? Interesting..."Unless she doesn't spar with other cultivators? I got the impression from the thread that she did, but if she was totally removed, then I suppose yeah, there wouldn't be much information to go off.
>>86835800It's mostly just her cultivation technique. Her hidden is her own thing, the escape technique is a fairly general thing. The meditation technique isn't really a combat thing... As for that Cultivation technique, unless it's an elder old enough to have fought her master, no one would really recognise it...
>>86835823Like I said, other old fossils might be sussing it out, but information likely wouldn't be spreading beyond that. I'm not Shi Fon's anon, just to be clear.
>>86834495Just woke up to read this, good stuff man!

>>86835876In terms of "Elders old enough to personally know Chiliu's elder" there's not really that manyThere's Zhu Jianhong, Lǐ Gēn, Sun Xu, Wan Weimin, Fei's Elder (Doesn't have a name?), Yuki's Elder (same here), Ling'er's Elder (I'm beginning to notice a pattern). Maybe missed one or two, but those are the ones I found on a cursory search
>>86835915I couldn't get the Hong Clan's elder elaborated due lack of points, but he is there in the shadows (In the way, fits his part in the lore of the Hong Clan, so it makes sense in the end).In a nutshell, he is very, very, old. Like, he was already there as an Elder when the Empire came knocking on the Northen Territory.
>>86835832And yeah, having the old fossils look at her and think 'sus' isn't unreasonable...And I get you, I offer advice for other character stuff from time to time too. Honestly, to some extent, I think that her being a mysterious oddball that doesn't conform to logic is part of her theme. More than anything, I wanted to convey that point, and I was doing so by showing some of the parts of how I set her up to be like that. I probably should have just directly said 'this is how I wanted her to be, I put some effort into having it this way, so if there's some loop holes, please throw this anon a bone and ignore them'...Hmm... Methinks I rant too much...
>>86835951>I think that her being a mysterious oddball that doesn't conform to logic is part of her themeFair enough.
>>86835899Yung Tu could probably play the second part there with another couple years under his belt
>>86835899>>86832964 Considering that the Tiger is one plane away from comitting nine eleven on the imperial palace, Ling Guang is almost fated/doomed to play the second part
>>86835915Ling'er's elder is definitely an old fossil. He's probably one of the Jin Founding Ancestor's direct subordinates, and a founding authority in the empire. He's probably made a LOT of shady deals to increase his strength and his lifespan, and can be considered one of the strongest public figures among the Great Clans. Basically he's there to be a warm up before we fight the Earthly Hero realm BBEG. This was my intent anyway. I should have added it somewhere.
>>86835995Don't worry, I'll have her cause trouble for someone else next. Everyone will slowly get stuck with Ling'er duty.
>>86835915I imagine Zhu Jianhong as always just having... 'been there.' Is she human? Is she some kind of beast? Nobody knows, but she's been hanging around for as long as anybody can remember, and she's always been the same. Never directly interfering, just training up random peasants and street urchins and letting them loose. After all, you don't just get a plain title like "The Wanderer," no appellations or anything, unless you were one of the earliest.
>>86835899Basically Feng Fei and her cousin, with their elder using them as guinea pigs to decide whose ideals are worthwhile.>>86835915If you mean Feng Fei then the stuff about her elder and peer are in the paste in the build. She's definitely meant to be pretty ancient and somewhat 'eternal', enough so at least that she would have done some heavy lifting when the South and East were still at each other's throats and anyone else from then would think twice about messing with her place.
>>86836020Incidentally, the characters currently in danger of being put on Ling'er duty are Li Huang and Yao Chunhua.
Speaking of Elders, what do they think of the shenanigans you're getting up to?
>>86836002So, he is on the same boath as the Hong Clan's Elder and de facto leader, funny how Zhentou and Ling'er's elders were """buddies""" like they are.
>>86836190Well, one of Ling'er's elders is incredibly furious, and just about wants to smack her to death. They other is laughing his ass off while drinking wine in the background.
>>86836190"Ha ha funny Grandaughter doing dumb stuff"" most of t he time.
>>86836125If Ling'er melts Li Huang's icy heart with her madness, will his heart survive the strain? He is a sickly patient in need of treatment after all. This is 100% genuine worry and totally not me wanting to see little Chunhua's equally short temper blow up, trust me!
>>86836213Yeah, they're probably very familiar with each other. The question is if they hate each other to death (competing for merit, etc.) Or if they like each other (old war buddies and all).
>>86836249More like the second. Lánggou (The Hong's Elder) is fanatical to the empire, so he doesn't care about merits as long as it serves the Empire, so he gets stronger/strengthen the Hong clan to better serve the Empire, rather than prestige.
>>86836229Who knows, maybe the sudden surge of emotions could flip around and cure his illness. The genre does wierd stuff like that. Or he could die. Really that's his authors decision. On the flip side, dispite the '90%' compatibility from the other thread, regular contact with Chiliu might seriously kill the guy. She lives for battle, and as a snow attribute cultivator, her attacks would put more cold qi into his system. Clearly horoscopes aren't everything.
>>86836285Put him with Hong, she most produce so much Yang (testosterone) that may cure his condition.
>>86836190Feng Fei's is definitely amused by the trouble she is/will be stumbling into.
>>86836264The Hu Clan ancestor is probably less concerned with the empire itself, and more just dead set loyal to the founding emperor himself, willing to literally raze the common folk to the ground if he was ordered to. With his extreme loyalties, I could see him liking his fellow loyalist elders.
>>86836322Hm, so both Hong and Hu share a common interest there, Lánggou loyalty to the empire is because he sees the Empire as a part of the Emperor, but his core ideology is the same of the Hu Ancestor.
>>86836337Good. Henceforth the Hu ancestor will refer to him as Old Hong, and barge into his dwelling once a year to drink wine discuss important matters together.
>>86836190Due to her nature Yuki has effectively vanished off the clans radar, but they would probably be happy she's not causing them more trouble. If she could have just learned to behave sooner perhaps they could have worked something out.
>>86836361Well, we know where half of the Alcohol from the Northen territory went to each year.
>>86836190Chiliu's elder is satisfied. That's about it.

I can't for the life of me think of what niche the Ashai family should fill, other than being Imperial-sided and a Great Family who specializes in some defensive techniques. Maybe descendents of royal bodyguards or something? But in this setting that feels rather pointless since the higher your political power the more powerful you are to begin with. Historical Hound family? Peacekeepers? Generals? I don't think they would be beaurocrats or politicians per se.
>>86836665>bodyguardsYeah but the stronger bodyguards you have the higher status, because it means you made those strong people your bitch. Also just as a statement of “you’re so weak I don’t even want to deal with you, my subordinates can’t fight you instead”.
>>86836665Shi Fon anon seems to have assumed the Ashais were an economic powerhouse, so you could go with that. You could work backwards from her techniques to see what kind of family would develop them, what is her clan's main technique? Then work from there
>>86836657Good night Li anon. If the deadpan compliments are out, his only option left is suffering enough stress for 7 generations, poor lad, he can't stop getting into worse and worse scenarios
>>86836679Her ancestral techniques are Endless Vitality, Petals, and Heavenly Step, but since she's a black sheep she's an outlier other than having those I would think. But if they do still have similar techniques then it paints them less as the gaudy showpiece guards and more the secret service, with Aura Concealment being at such a high level they would certainly be intimidating spies.>>86836675>>86836679Favored Bodyguards is making more sense now that I think of it. They would have the economic power, political power, and a defensive+mobility style makes sense. Ill have to check some of the fluff that the cyoa has and see where they would fit in.
>>86836665Ashai is the fox's family, right? How about a mix of espionage and high culture. During the day they act as musicians, artists, actors, etc, claiming their focus on defense is because they prefer peace over conflict. During the night, they act as messengers and spies, using their defensive techniques to ensure their members never fall before completing their mission.Seemed like a fun niche that hasn't been filled in yet.
>>86836679>>86836722Bodyguards originally and perhaps some/many of the elders still are, but the younger generations are more on the spy side, with many serving as merchants since its such a easy cover? This is coming together I think. Though I don't think her Yin stuff is a family thing I do find it a fitting reason that she's got Obscurement so far and above. And perhaps Myriad too, but I hesitate to make that a familial skill rather than her personal focus.
>>86836722If they own all the high class entertainment businesses, that could fulfill the economic powerhouse idea too.
>>86836748Maybe the female side is known for running entertainment stuff like that, and the male side is known as savvy investors and merchants. Both of which are means to gather information in their own ways.
>>86836432I love this type of shit
>>86836736So, how about you decide on something Yuki absolutely hates. Whatever it is could be an important of the Ashai clan moveset. As spies, maybe the have assassination techniques, like poison? As bodyguards, maybe they can redirect damage to themselves?
>>86836762You could also have her parents be from different clans. Maybe her mother was all about culture, and was the reason Yuki likes Kabuki theatre and stuff. The father was from the Ashai clan and wanted her to focus on real business, and the clans missions.
>>86836541>>86836633Some family from out of town has been staying over for Thanksgiving, which has kept me from working on it the last couple days. I'm pretty close to done with the parts I committed to, though (several newer builds will unfortunately be absent in order to actually finish it.) Hopefully I'll have time Sunday to bang out what I have left to do.Also, keep in mind this list goes for contrast above all else, while also trying to pair up as many characters as possible. Yes, I'm aware these goals are in conflict. I'm sure you can see the issues that may arise from this as the pool of lonely singles gets smaller and smaller. I am seeing now how I could have done this better, but I refuse to abandon my initial methodology at this point, mostly because I find it funny trying to justify my later choices. The last few may require some creative interpretations of your builds.
>>86836774Generally speaking she just dislikes high society and all its rules, and isn't much of a fan of the empire itself. She's obviously quite a prodigy so probably was heavily pressured towards the assassin side of things especially with her Divine aspect coming in at what must have been a young age due to how far ahead of the curve she is. She's not afraid of cruel tactics or anything, afterall she does have Yin Claws as her main offensive technique and is definately not just harmless in her pranks. But aye, the redirection of attacks would work as one of their familial techniques that she didn't learn. The reason she's not Hunted or anything is probably that her existance seperate of the clan is a distressing idea for others that the Ashai clan couldn't openly strike at. They worry that she's just a broken arrow who could target anyone and be denied as doing it on behalf of her family or the empire. By simply NOT doing something they have turned her into a useful tool even now.
>>86836834basedtake your time anon, looking forward to it
>>86836861I'm now imagining her clan occasionally attributing some high profile assassinations to her, making her into some urban legend assassin.
>>86836867Just don't get your hopes up too much. A lot of the time that has gone into hasn't resulted in more content. It was just me inefficiently organizing builds by various contrasting qualities and then thinking over the pairings for a while. Someone else probably could have gotten this done sooner, even if they were just as busy as I've been. Expect short blurbs, not huge paragraphs.
>>86836922When I first heard you were doing it, I want even expecting blurbs, so its already better than I thought it would be.
What's your characters Mongolian BBQ plate look like by the time its cooked?Or if you don't know what that is, what do they order at a chinese place.
I actually wonder What happens if someone with Survivalism ST (Worm) gets beheaded? Do they turn into some kind of dullahan with a body that works but a separated head? Does their body just wander around with no head? Do they just turn into a talking head?
>>86837546Corona is in head, so body drops dead. But I think your brain would run out of blood too fast for it to matter that much in regards to talking head and stuff. Remember that survivalism on its own just makes stuff survivable, it doesn't help you recover from the injury.
>>86837570>Corona is in head, so body drops deadExcept ST Survivalism literally lets you survive despite your body being 'truly dead'
>>86837602The body is no longer part of you at that point so its dead anon, whats not to get?I assume you meant the bloodloss of the brain not killin you, but then you're a dessicated head with no muscles or method of communication so it's honestly a fate worse than death. Survivalism needs other stuff to be worth it anon. Atleast get Clean Cut ST or something.
So anons, a pack of mooks attack you, wanting to take your stuff, but not your life. What state are they in after your character is done with them? A pile of disembodied parts? Broken bones and bruised faces? Kneeling in pure admiration after you set them straight? Arrogant and pleased after successfully robbing you?
>>86837622They are pills to add to the collection.
>>86837622Entirely dependent on which setting and how armed/threatening they are and stuff. Too many variables. I can't pick a character at random to answer for cause I've got so many since i make one for everything.
>>86837619>The body is no longer part of you at that point so its dead anon, whats not to get?Feels like that would kinda defeat the entire point of being able to survive wounds. It says you can walk and continue functioning if you're not too wounded to stop it, and the normal power says your organism adapts to survive with your wounds.
>>86837646The point of survivalism is that you don't die, regen is 10x better for a reason.
>>86837646The only part of your body that matters to your powers is the corona, which is typically located in the head. Survivalism lets it migrate elsewhere, but in the case of just getting decapitated chances are you'll be just a head and itll have nowhere to go, and without external assistance you'll be stuck like thatYou need SOMETHING else to make it useful. Either Immortality Field, Clean Cut ST, Regen, Infection... something. Otherwise you'll be rendered into ground beef that can't really do anything in short order. Or sliced deli meat, etcetc. Its a force multiplier for other powers, not amazing on its own. Its the difference in a normal villain regenerator and a Slaughterhouse 9 Nigh Unkillable God Regenerator, but on its own you're still a weak as fuck human.
>>86837646The corona is the organ your powers are attached to, if you lose the corona you also lose the powers (from my understanding) so even if your power lets you survive anything, it doesn't matter, because if you lose the corona you don't have the power anymore.
>>86837680>Survivalism lets it migrate elsewhere, but in the case of just getting decapitated chances are you'll be just a head and itll have nowhere to goIf the corona was that slow, then a simple headshot would kill you, which would be retarded
>>86837622They somehow end up at the dinner table, having a nice home-cooked meal with grandma while she talks to them about their bad behavior. Depending on their cooperation, they may or may not also be temporarily paralyzed.
>>86837733A headshot to the corona on someone who ONLY has survivalism ST is infact still lethal yes.Aiming for it is tricky.Like i said three times now, OTHER powers make survivalism good. Its a MULTIPLIER not its own thing.I feel like you're the guy I explained all this to in detail to in the past too.
>>86837745>this power lets you avoid dying>btw you don't actually get to avoid dying
Clean Cut ST and Survivalism ST is a fun combo because even if you get cut to a million pieces provided your corona is intact you can control all those pieces individually. You can always reattach them, they don't bleed, etc. They also count as part of your body, so certain powers that are AOE based can be made very OP by cutting off a bit of your body and leaving it in a public place all over the city.>>86837749Boy it must suck not to be able to read at all and think your power is somehow better than the more expensive Regen power
>>86837622I'm actually answering that in a Cao writefag I'm working on, dropping either today or tomorrow.
I say Survivalism ST lets you survive as a Dallahan. Clean Cut ST also lets your severed head float around.
>>86837749Survialism is a 5 pointer.Regen is a 10 pointer. This is why Regen is significantly better on its own than survivalism on its ownAdd a 2-3 pointer like elasticity, immortality field or Clean Cut and suddenly the gap is much less daunting.
>>86837784"If your body is not harmed enough to prevent it" means "If you can still walk" aka unless they haven't straight up blown up your legsIt literally says there that you can continue even if your body is truly dead. But nooo, the power actually doesn't do fuckall, and clearly 'You can continue alive even if your body is dead' means 'If you get shot in the head, you die'
>>86837817I mean, shooting the corona also works on regen users anonit stops everyonegetting your corona deleted is how you lose, full stop, nomatter what.
>>86837827>I mean, shooting the corona also works on regen users anonWhy the fuck would it say this, then?
>>86837817As long as the Corona is intact you can keep going even looking like Imhotep from the Mummy. Parts cut off still work but they can only crawl unlike Clean Cut ST.
>>86837852Assumes the Corona survived.
>>86837852Corona is the source of those powers in universe, if it's destroyed there's nothing to power the regeneration. I think the CYOA author just fucked up the wording.
>>86837852Because the CYOA assumes you understand the world its based on
>>86837877>>86837892Ah yes, that's why it said 'one of your body parts', not 'as long as your corona survives' or 'as long as your head' or even so much as bother to say that you instantly die if you get shot in the head.
>>86837897>you instantly die if you get shot in the head.Word of God says that some regenerators have their Corona in an unconventional location.Crawler's Corona was supposed to have re-located to deeper within his body, for example.
>>86837897Don't know what to tell you, Tankista had a retard moment.
>>86837897The corona can be artifically relocated to other parts of the body, one of the most infamous cases is Crawler, who has Survivalism ST and Regen ST. His corona was so far from anywhere that made sense nobody could do enough damage to stop him from regenerating until he was literally glassed on an atomic level all at once in canon.
>>86837897chill anon, it's just a way to kill off Regenerators. Corona's are ridiculously hard to hit anyway.
>>86837954>86837954AND Rocky ST. Like the Ur-powergamer in WORM.
>>86837950>>86837954And so if you can change your corona's location, which Survivalism should, then you do not, in fact, die if you get decapitated
>>86837955Some people, especially young people, have the Corona spread all throughout their brain too. So even if part of the brain is damaged it would regen. Older triggers have lower neuroplasticity so their Corona is less extensive.
>>86837966Yes. The anon saying Survivalism can't survive beheading was just stupid.
>>86837983Nobody said that. we just said that the corona would be seperated from the body, meaning only the head would stay alive.
>>86838004Survivalism states your body is able to adaptYou could simply just send your corona to your fucking heart or something before you got beheaded.
>>86838035I don't see why that would be the case. The head would be alive still.
>>86838039Because you can reorganize yourself, the power says so.
>>86838066No it doesn't. That's Clean Cut ST
I bet this is the same anon who thinks Adaptation doesn't protect against pyrokinesis.
>>86838004Who is we?Also since Coronas can spread through the brain and Survivalism can reorganize the body, you could have a decentralized octopus brain with a full body Corona if you triggered young enough.
>>86837622Left bent into uncomfortable shapes while their qi flow is greatly hampered, they will not be released until a proper apology and sentencing can be performed.
>>86838138>you could have a decentralized octopus brain with a full body Corona if you triggered young enough.Actually, if you were to do that and have some power like Mist Shift, couldn't you literally survive a nuclear bomb?
good night anons
>>86838176Sleep tight, anon!
>>86838176good night anon
>>86838139"Unless you kowtow 3 times i'll cripple your cultivation" i was waiting for this certified xianxia classic
>>86838167It's a bit more complicated. Small localized Corona is easier for attacks to miss even if they do huge damage. A decentralized Corona could suffer enough damage from big attacks to stop working, but precision attacks would not work well against it. They're more of a side grade than an upgrade, but Survivalism Chads can just switch between them.
>>86838228Yes, but i meant that, if you turn into an mist, it won't really be damaging an specific place, and since you have regeneration, you could survive as long as even an microgram of your mist survived the immediate blast, since you can regenerate faster than people can wound you.At that point, you'd need to get Rorschach'd to die.
>>86838074Yes you can survive without a heart or lungs, not your corona.>>86838095So you're the guy who always says that. Good to know.
>>86838220The most crippling thing to your cultivation is being dead.
>>86838167>>86838244In Worm Shadow Stalker's power didn't work if anything lingered inside of her fog. It inflicted intense pain until she deactivated her power. So in the case of an explosive the fire and the explosive force would probably knock you unconscious and then you would die. Regen ST wouldn't save you from a nuke either.
>>86837622Extremely bruised or a pin cushion depending if they harm any bystanders in the scuffle. Survivors will be arrested to do hard labor and leadership whipped for all their crimes against the state. Heaven forbid if the men get their hands on the more heinous offenders like sexual predators or murderers. Capital punishment is not exclusive to traitors to the kingdom. And the imperial courts are more creative on matters criminal.
>>86838342Regeneration ST = You apparently regenerate almost instantlySurvivalism ST = Your body continues conscious even if you're technically deadMist Shift = You don't have an localized body, but a mist, so you wouldn't just immediately get erased. So on theory, you could survive by just having some small piece of yourself keep regenerating, since you wouldn't have lost your corona. And because of survivalism, you wouldn't get knocked out.
>>86838295And the Corona can be wherever you like, because you can organize your body. So if it's not in the head, beheading will just make you blind and deaf.>So you're the oneThere are at least two of us. I liked the phrase and adopted it.
>>86838401Regeneration ST can heal things like cuts and injuries instantly. I don't think it can outpace a nuke vaporizing you instantly, but it depends how close you were.
>>86838445Not normally, no, but i'd reckon it's probably easier to keep regenerating some small piece of mist than it is to regenerate a body.Or infection, i suppose. That also works, but it's more expensive.
>>86838458I actually did the calcs, and you could actually get Infection ST so that you can infect multiple people with goo, making you, quite literally impossible to kill since Infection ST lets you regenerate as long as a single drop of yourself survives. You'd have about three shard points left, or zero if you wanted to go with an abaddon shard, though no idea if that'd help.
>>86838678>quite literally impossible to killDidn't work out so well for Infection.
>>86838827Infection didn't have Regeneration ST
>>86838848He's lucky that we didn't have the DLC power that made his entire gimmick a joke too. The thing that lets you hit vessels to damage their owner.
>>86833156Yo, Fulong Jin's creator here; sorry I haven't posted since making him, been busy with thanksgiving. Can I be honest-- I'm a massive idiot. I named him Fulong Jin without thinking about the fact that that was the name of an empire, LOL. Maybe its just another example of his fortunate birth, that he has the same name as the emperor. But yes, he is absolutely aligned with the Jin empire, if for no reason other than the fact that he's young, a prodigy but still a student, and even if he did decide to rebel his father (though he npw lives in the thousand method's school) is a merchant within the central territory; fillial piety and all that, wouldn't risk the death of a parent.I might writefag today. I will say he isn't militantly against enemies of the Jin empire or anything; he's intelligent, and more concerned with his own future and skill if you wanted to writefag him into a story. He might fight an enemy of the Jin, but he wouldn't be bloodthirsty unless he had good reason to be, and it'd need to be strong reason; hes ultimately pretty privileged and not (yet at least) a killer.
Auction Anon here with a question for Zhifeng Xie'e and Shou Hun's authors. How do these two experiment happy medical specialists feel about each other? I'm planning out how the interactions in the market will go, and wanted to hear their opinions if either author is alive. For some context, I planned on having Ling Guang and Yao Chunhua join forces to open a shop together, and played with the thought of the mad scientists joining forces in response.
Will post this in the next thread as well. After thinking about it, any build can be justified as appearing to fight Behemoth, as Discord can just go back in time. So, anyone who wants to join the fight against Behemoth, please respond to this post. Remember, there is a chance that you will die, so responding is consent to that risk.As recompense, every build that responds will be featured in the writing. Obviously to varying levels, but at the very least a line or two.
>>86839314Honestly, I would normally be fine with Factotum going and possibly dying, but that would remove the possibility of people being able to use the DLC shard option. So instead, she can sit it out. I don't really like plot armor as a reason to survive.
>>86839314MIezhaun will be going but one will stick to the backlines to help around and allow the destroyed miezhauns to respwn and get back to the fight faster and Trimiannes would be sending a hoard of flying monsters since she can't come herself
>>86839314Prin Nee would refuse to go, but Cauldron probably won't accept that and door him on top of Behemoth a few times, just to see if he can do something. If not, they at least made him a bit stronger.Of course it's fine if you kill him, Several times is good too, just not over 5.>>86839440Cauldron might do the same thing to Miezhaun just to see what happens.
>>86839314None of my characters would actually be at all effective against the Behemoth problem, and as such, I don't see any reason why they would be going.
Well, I'm playing with fire by posting this so close to the new thread but that's okay. I had a blast writing it. Please Enjoy.Cao Noh Demands a Coat:https://pastebin.com/h0nzJd22
>>86839616Hmm... Makes enough sense. Now Cao is as shady as Xixi...
>>86839314Welp, assuming the inter-cape ceasefire for Endbringer fights covers a wanted vigilante / borderline terrorist too, Overkill would join. After all, her particular stick-in-the-ass is heroes not going far enough to keep order so she couldn't exactly ignore an Endbringer rampage. She might even contribute decently assuming ST Immunity works on Behemoth's blasts too.The image in my original build gives me 404 in 4plebs?
>>86839267Zhifeng would be happy to work with a fellow immoral physician given the chance - the people around him don't typically condone what he does. Given the chance to work with someone else, he'd be eccentric, and probably try to take control of what was going on in small ways - things like changing dosages to what he thinks is appropriate without communicating that to anyone. Again, especially on a temporary basis, he'd be very excited to work with another and note any special techniques of methods he can get out of them.
>>86839314Again, Jab would participate in transport, but be unwilling to actually engage beyond evacuation.
>>86839697Listen man, he was cold.
>>86839616A man driven to insanity. How cruel of his master to not even offer a shirt for Cao's journey.Fun stuff, anon. Really looking forward to more.
>>86839760Noted. If Shou Hun's anon doesn't say otherwise, I'll go ahead with my schemes then. Thanks anon.>>86839790Which is fair. In the markets, perhaps he'll get a nice low level magic shirt with a heating property.
>>86839879Well, Zhang Yun does specify that she sells "Shirts," even if most of the aforementioned clothing is not in fact shirts
>>86839314You can have Esmund (not personally) appear in the non-combatant side of things through Lesswater. I don't know, maybe sending some "relief" or maybe he owns property in whatever place Behemoth is attacking. Or something else. Your choice.
>>86839879>>86839901I actually have a plan for an auction scene surrounding his newfound hatred of the cold. However, if you want to write Cao shopping at Zhang Yun's stall I'm good with that. What I'm planning would still happen. Keep in mind he has like 20 coins to his name until the auction (or a string) and they're not taels.
If you Kingmaker'd someone Summoning, had them do the 5 summons, and then removed and reapplied it, would they get more summons?
>>86839158Don’t worry, there’s literally a build just called “Jin” from the central territory, too.
>>86839994~Works for me.
>>86840034I like to imagine that the Jin clan uses a different version of 'Jin' than the PC's in question. Since Chinese seems to have 100 different versions of every syllable...
>>86840012... good question.
I have no idea how to write for the Martial arts world/cyoa is this like a series that I can read or watch? or should I go with generic Chinese fantasy? Cause I feel like a jackass wanting my character included in things but not writing for him myself.
>>86835509Sorry about that, I'll make a note that Shi Fon doesn't know Chiliu's exact nature, but made note of her intensity during duels, and that her actual status within the clan is unknown, but he has an inkling that she's pretty high up due to her insane power>>86840082So something like:The Imperial Jin, Pronounced "Jeen"The Common Jin, Pronounced "Gin"
>>86840189you could probably just do some shit like crouching tiger hidden dragon>t. know nothing about the genre either
So anyway, The Captain almost certainly isn't joining the fight because wow, kingmaker is amazingly abusable. (Especially kingmakering people stands.)
>>86840267That's all the more reason for him to joinIt really doesn't matter how busted Kingmaker is, it's not killing Behemoth
>>86840189Martial Arts movies like >>86840195 said. Also the original Dragon Ball was inspired by Wuxia. If you want an actual reading list, I'd start with A Hero Born.
>>86840291>it's not killing BehemothNothing's actually killing Behemoth, but if our Sting users are there he's probably going to retreat in a decent amount of time.
>>86840321Well either that or he just decides to stop jobbing and rushes them
>>86840194Reminds me of the gif debate. I will die on this hill you damn dirty jiffies.
>>86840348If Behemoth starts moving like Leviathan he'd be unbeatable, yup.
>>86840291At maximum cheese, you could have five more sting users who effectively can't die. (If I'm reading this correctly, Stand(Sting) is a valid grantable power.)Swap one of them to Stand(Atmosphere Control), and you probably have a decent defense against lightning and fire.Glimpse (or more likely Stand(Glimpse, some other power)) for targeting. It's not really narratively interesting, in my opinion at least, to hog so much narrative weight where others could have it. Maybe others disagree.
>>86840402>Glimpse (or more likely Stand(Glimpse, some other power)) for targeting.Stands can't have Thinker powers and Endbringers are all blindspots so that wouldn't work anyway.
>>86840402>>86840432Yeah I'd just do Immortality Field on one of them.
>>86840432Oh, right, I missed that part. The other ones still stand, though.
>>86840402Glimpse won't work on Behemoth as Endbringers are all blindspotsAnyone with Sting would get prioritized by Behemoth and probably die unless they had a getaway optionHis lightning could be redirected by ionizing the air but atmosphere control doesn't have that ability, and honestly I'm pretty sure it's not even real lightning since it doesn't follow the laws of physics
>>86840194Yeah, that's the idea. Similarly, the 'Dao' in Dao Chiliu is different sounding than the 'Dao' that means 'they way'. (I.E. the big buzz word for mysterious martial arts enlightenment.) Chiliu's 'Dao' means 'Blade' or 'Knife', or sometimes 'Saber', (which is the way its read for her). Not 100% on pronunciation stuff, but I am fairly sure it's different. Maybe the enlightenment one sounds more like 'Tao' since 'Tao' and 'Dao' are interchangeable in most novels.
>>86840442Great, you're immortalWon't stop you from getting reduced to literal ashes by a 20-foot-wide lightning beam, but you'll be alive as the pile of ash. Probably in immense pain.
>>86840471But could I still use Sting?
>>86840480Not after he roars and/or loud enough to topple buildings and throws you out of your own bubble (which cannot be moved without removing it entirely, which would instantly kill you)
>>86840494Okay what if I got Rocky ST?
How useful would Immunity ST be against behemoth?
A question about stands. Do they follow the rules stands do in Jojo where the user takes the damage the stand does?
>>86840502That doesn't improve your durability or your regeneration, just your strength. So in other words it doesn't do anything in this scenario
>>86840452Granted, my assumption that the air needs to exist in order for Behemoth's lightning to be conducted through it might be wrong, considering that it's bullshit endbringer lightning. But I was assuming that it was normal, can't-travel-through-vacuum lightning.>>86840494And that's why you need sound and/or atmosphere control as well.
>>86840517... I meant the Mountain one, fuck.
>>86840195>>86840310Got it! thanks!
>>86840528It's really not normal lightningI checked again and that shit craws along concrete, bounces away from lightning rods, curves around targetsEndbringers really are bullshit, manIt seems to still follow some sort of normal physics given that Dragon's drone swarm was able to redirect it away by ionizing the air, but if you tried to atmosphere control the air away it would probably work the first few times before he just starts curving it around
>>86840530HmmYeah, you'd be invincible as long as you weren't moving, and ST prevents you from being pushedBut he could destroy the ground under you and cause you to fall, therefore start moving again, therefore break the invulnerabilityProbably wouldn't bother if you were just a normal cape, but he'd bring out everything against a Sting user
>>86840189Also, some context that isn't immediately obvious.Wuxia is the low fantasy genre. It ranges from settings where there is no magic or mysticism, up to settings up to something dynasty warriors-ish where strong characters can take on large groups of soldiers. Even on the high end, individuals typically can't beat entire armies in these settings.Xianxia is more classical high fantasy. It starts out low leveled like wuxia, but the MC gets stronger much faster. Before long, the power scaling gets so high that stuff like destroying nations with a single attack, or even entire worlds becomes possible. As a rule, Xianxia adheres more strictly to classical ideas of Chinese fantasy- things like the levels of cultivation, the concept of tradition Chinese medicine, etc.Xuanhuan is less classical high fantasy. Same power scale as Xianxia, but the author often throws convention to the wind. Maybe the MC has video game powers. Maybe characters can cultivate faith and become gods. The whole martial spirit foundation part of the CYOA, and a lot of the technique descriptions make me think this would be the most appropriate 'genre' for Martial Path.So going to a novel reading site, and randomly picking a high ranking Xuanhuan novel isn't a bad strategy.
>>86840506Nullifies Electricity and radiation at that point, which is great, but you still take the physical force of a Pure laser beam, which would pulverise most structures, so unless you have some serious regen or some "All or Nothing" class durability, you've only saved yourself from dying to vaporization, not to being crushed
>>86840593(NTA) Hmm.Can you hover in place with Flight? What about activating Still Movement without properly 'moving'?
>>86840517We decided that Rocky improves durability, otherwise it's too easy to spam up to insane strength.
>>86840659HmmmYeah, I think that might work actuallyDepends on whether or not your powers still function when you're a humanoid pile of ashes, (we are assuming yes due to immortality field preserving brain function, which includes the corona Pollentia)But I don't think you could get got at that point aside from like, acute radiation poisoningSo then what happens is that he burrows underground and pops up a mile away so you can't get to him without moving, at which point he kills you.But hey, you've protected that area of the city, which is quite good when you think about it
>>86826475>Mithran SolHas the background of warrior but the drawback of Destroyed Clan. To the anons defense the drawback does only state it can't be taken by commoners and merchants. I suspect this is a hold over from the older version before warrior was added. >>86826475This is the compilation of factions so far. I split the 'Groups' apart from the Sects due to not knowing if they were intended to be sects or just institutions. Since we already had so many great clans 8(+2 implied) I categorized any NPC group as minor unless explicitly said not to be. Because of that, I also categorized the two sects mentioned in the cyoa to be minor sects out of fairness. Italicized are groups listed by the CYOA itself (unless a player linked their character too them ie: Shi Clan) I intend on writing up a blurb or sentence for each faction as well, so if you haven't already provided a brief description or summary of your clan or group throw a reply to this comment if you want to be included.
>>86840712This amused me. Thank you, anon.
>>86840722Possibly a similar story with other groups, but Snow Flower Palace is one of the original sects from the CYOA, so presumably it's one of the 'Great Sects'.
>>86840791I can see the argument for it, but like I said since we had so many great clans already I opted to move all NPCs into minor unless explicitly mentioned as great for consistency. I think Snow Flower Palace, Golden Heavenly Budda, Divine Origin Palace and Soaring Sky Sect would all fit as 'Great' but then its just me picking and choosing which get to be what arbitrarily. One thought I did run into is, are the 8 Great Clans and 7 Great Sects, 'great' locally or more universally. Like does the best clan in the weakest region stand on equal footing in terms of greatness to say an above average clan in a more powerful/competitive region.
>>86840722The Hu Clan is something like this:-A military clan that assisted the Jin in founding their dynasty. Their land borders the Western territory, as guarding against the heretics and beasts within is their duty. In the public eye, they are a clan of heroic warriors that defend humanity against foreign threats. -In truth, they're a vicious group loyal to the emperor alone, fully willing to sell out the rest of humanity for benefits. The higher ups often meet with the leaders of the west for illicit dealings. -Their heritage includes the bloodline of a divine beast (the White Tiger), the metal attribute, and techniques that grow stronger through slaughter. No need to go to that much detail, of course.
>>86836125>currently in danger of being put on Ling'er duty>Li Huang already took his turnOh no.>>86839267Every tael is a step closer to immortality! Sounds good!
>>86840828Which is fair. To be honest, the 'Great Clans and Sects' are probably more about reputation than anything else. For these settings, its pretty common for there to be lesser known powers that are stronger then famous ones, and for there to be big power gaps between the famous ones. That said, I also doubt all the NPC sects were used by people, so sneaking the ones people did pick into the Great Sects probably isn't bad. Or don't, it won't change how strong I made Snow Flower Palace, and making it the quiet sect that people don't think is that strong is kinda cool too.Considering the JIn haven't already conquered the South and East, I doubt the power gap between territories is too big though.
>>86837622Stuffed with candy
>>86840897No, no, Ling Guang's the one that took his turn. The Vermillian Bird that does alchemy. It's how she got those explosives.Li Huang is the quiet, sickly one from the Teahouse writefag. He's still in danger.
>>86840922Thanks. These names are going to take me awhile.
>>86840935I'm very slowly starting to memorize people's names. It's arduous, though.
>>86840922Danger? But he has his nice grandma aunty cousin Xixi to watch over his health! Surely he couldn't be in better hands!
>>86840935Trying to fit 24 PC's into a single writefag has been a efficient means of learning the names. Prior to this madness, I got tripped up a lot too.
>>86840955Hmm... Can Xixi cure compulsive 'courting death'? The frustration that comes from dealing with Hu Ling'er is one thing. But the horde of angry soldiers that comes after is the big issue.
New thread please.
>>86840975With enough brain surgery, anything is possible!
>>86840923Until behavior improves.
>>86840902My mistake, I didn't realize Snow Flower Palace was being used by a PC. I just went back to get the right information to update the sheet, but Dao Chiliu (you anon?) only has Clan 1 which is minor clan I believe.Big agree in terms of "Great" factions being made up of a mix of "strong" "respected" and "old" and "rich" groups though. All powerful in there own ways.
>>86840975Lobotomies solve everything.

>>86841007considering the recent talk about Behemoth, and because it's been a while; Worm?

>>86841026https://controlc.com/aeb37d1ehere you go
>>86840988Yep, that is me. Dao Chiliu's clan is the Dao clan, it was essentially vaporized. The Snow Flower Palace is something she joined through her custom elder (who I made up to be an ancestor of said sect). It's not actually that odd for people to join sects later in life after all.Well for her it was probably closer to 5 years ago though. (So her clan got nuked when she was around 10 years old).
>>86841040Ah that does pose a unique situation for how I was grouping things. But if its mentioned in character lore as great im happy to move it.
>>86841073>>86841073>>86841073hog something something
>>86841057Hmm... In my own case, I never directly called Snow Flower Palace a Great Sect. So feel free to do whatever. Or maybe wait for word of god, since it's a sect from the CYOA itself. I suppose I'm actually kinda partial to the sect being more low-key, and not fighting over the title of 'Great Sect'.As a fun side note, I'm also Hu Ling'er anon. I did the exact opposite thing for her. On paper she's a Great Clan scion, but lore wise she's a rogue cultivator.
>>86839616Great work, anon. Cao is probably my favorite character in the MP right now. Though you've taken him in a different, more interesting direction than I'd expected. Kudos.I had a writefag idea for a sort of impromptu sparring session between him and Temba during the auction, but I wanted to run it by you beforehand, since it would involve Cao jobbing pretty hard. Don't want to spoil it too much, and it'll be a few days before I get a chance to start on it, but think something like Todo Vs Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen(without the repeated head stompings). I.e., the protag(Cao) has an unexpected run-in with a more experienced cultivator, but gains an opportunity to push the limits of his newfound strength, as well as some philosophical insight to help him become more comfortable with his cultivation. Ultimately, the goal for the piece would be for Cao to advance that much closer to the Pure Realm (assuming such fights/teaching moments can do that; I'm not really so familiar with these settings.) And like I said, it'd be at least a few days before I'd have time to even start on it. No sweat if you're not down for that, though. Even I'm a bit hesitant, since I don't want to jerk off my own character too much. And, if you're cool with me writing it, please let me know if there's anything about Cao I may not know or think to include that you feel is extremely important to the character.
>>86841077Hogs Worm Out would have been better
>>86841154Not Cao anon, but yeah, combat is useful for leveling up. 'There is great terror in the line between life and death, but also great fortune'. Or something like that. For most people, closing up to meditate, and going out to adventure are both necessary components for increasing their realm. Some people, especially the really pacifist types can get by without exploration (but they tend to be weaker). Some people, like Hu Ling'er, can get by without the quiet meditation part, relying entirely on going from one battlefield from another, which is more dangerous due to all the combat. As a rule, the more dangerous and stressful a fight is, the more beneficial it is.
