When they get round to the IW Praetor/Warsmith they should just take the old model and make an updated version in Mark II armour.

I get most of my files off Cults3D. LoggyK, LegioXIVGuy, mildseven, Craftos, Fummelfinger, OHM, HelicopterHelicopter and VitalyKhan are users on there that have a bunch of stuff you might find useful. Keep in mind some of these do various flavors of truescale stuff, so some of their stls might need rescaling, or may not be suitable for what you want.
>>
>>86120662
Volkite chargers are dirt cheap on hqs and better than bolters. No reason not to stick one on your hq if you doesn't have any other shooty stuff. Also paint it blue and voila, instant plasma pistol

One thing I'll give Starcraft, it makes more sense to sit in the armor and have the marine's hands rest in the forearms and the feet in the calves. You can't fully armor the whole body without stretching out some limbs, at least without making some parts so thinly armored that it doesn't deserve powered motors.

So I like the look of Reavers and their fluffy for SoH but how effective are they? Are they worth actually giving power weapons over their chain axes? With no AP it feels like the axes are just gonna bounce off dudes a lot of the time.

I assume you at least give the sergeant a power fist or something.

White scars were notorious for using the Mk.II throughout the heresy becayse they felt thr Mk.III was too heavy, and they never really had access to Mk.IV. I IF raid on Mars did yield them (and the Fists and Blood Angels) some Mk.VII for the siege of Terra.

Also I am seething about the Macrocarid Explorator losing its flare shield. Where are my flare shields GW? Why did you do this to be beloved Krios too?
>>
>>86122343
They're not bad but imo they're overcosted. Especially since they have to pay 10 points per power weapon.

I plan on running a 15 man squad of them with an apothecary in Black Reaving, probably with 2-3 fists and a few lightning claw pairs as well.
>>
>>86122343
Old FW rules made them brutal. “Death dealers” was powerful. I sometimes had a deathstar reaver unit loaded up with volkite chargers, chain axes, and jump packs. They would absolutely wreck mechanicum with their gargantuan number of strength 5 shooting and close combat attacks . Thallax, ursarax, vorax, scyllax, myrmidons, like butter
>>
>>86121741
stuck in? you say that like it's not the coolest armor mark
>>
>>86122523
Yeah, lightning claw pairs seemed like a decent investment. I don't think I need them to be able to take down terminators but I'd like them to be able to reliably take down basic power armored guys. Fielding them in a larger squad seems like a decent way to do that too so you get attack volume even if you keep most of them with chain axes

>>86122543
I hadn't really thought about special weapons for them, but 1 in 5 can take a plasma or melta gun. Might be a nice way to give a chain axe guy some bite since it doesn't seem like they give up their chain axe to do it.
>>
>>86120853
Cyborgs are the coolest stuff out there. the designers are retarded
>>
>>86122343
Stick to free chainaxes and a couple of fists, especially on the bossman plus maybe artificer armor if you're feeling fancy. They desperately need an assault transport or jetpacks, otherwise they'll get their expensive T4 W2 asses shot up by every S8 AP3 gun in the same post-code.
Once in melee they're great though. WS5 and W2 on top of Merciless Fighters keeps them kicking long after most similar units are spent and their offense is generally good enough. Don't have them fight terminators or similar things, but have them bully lesser fighters or the occasional mechanicum thing, that's where they'll really shine.
>>
Should I try to get my money back from war1? I put an order in before the site went down and I got confirmation but no info on whether it shipped or not
>>
Reading through the rule book, and Rites of War are basically just a special effect you can add to your FOC to theme your army, right? Like, this certain faction has this certain rites of war that forces you to take this, and not these, but allows you to do this and that. Is that right? It's like a less nebulous and annoying detachment system, neat.

Printers use the same technologies as televisions, each layer that is printed is a monochrome bitmap image. When terms like LCD and DLP are being used they are literally referring to the type display technology used to expose the resin to UV light, that LCD means liquid crystal display and DLP means digital light processing.

DLP is superior to LCD because there is much less "bleed" of light around the edges of individual pixels so the print is more accurate. DLP technology is also much more expensive than an LCD screen so even though DLP printers have been common in the commercial market for a long time companies have only recently started making consumer grade DLP printers. DLP printers currently on the market from Anycubic are lower resolution than the LCD printers they compete with, but still produce extremely high quality prints due to the superiority of DLP technology. DLP printers also do not suffer from the screen wearing out over time like LCD printers do as there is no screen.

But really, any resin printer you buy from Anycubic, Elegoo or Phrozen is going to be fine for printing miniatures, even the older 2k ones, and printing with appropriate settings is significantly more important than having the very latest thing.

There's nothing quite like the false hope given by finishing objective markers. I also *finally* got the first layer on all my primed fists, with 2-3 more to go. What have y'all no-games gotten done?
>>
>>86127385
I don't understand the Equinox Power Blade Case then. S4 Rending 5+ and Sunder, at best you get 4+5+1d3 or 4+6+1d3 for armor pen, to the maximum of 13. That's not great, is it?
>>
>>86127458
Rending (5+) for AP2, +1 attack for having 2 swords.

The sunder is just a nicety to let dawnbreakers/crimson paladins hunt light and medium vehicles in a pinch.
>>
>>86127385
>>86127333
Not exactly. You can reroll failed armour pen and you can reroll glancing hits to try and get a penetrating hit. When you need 4 to glance, the second kind of reroll takes you from guaranteed damage to 50% chance of damage, though people tend to gamble because they only really see the first part of the rule. It's worse with a 5+ and obviously pointless if you can only even glance on 6+, such as shooting a Warlord or Warbringer on front armour with a Lascannon. Really only of benefit when AV is equal to or less than S+3.5, or S+7 if you have any version of Armourbane (though the same problem applies if AV is higher than S+7), or I guess if you have an AP1 or AP2 weapon with some other bonus to the damage table roll as well. Explosions are cool, but shredding the engine block of a Spartan and watching it coast to a halt and its doors fall off while the clowns inside tumble out is better.

Sunder has no effect on targets without an AV.

Armourbane (Melta, Melee, Ranged) adds D6 to armour penetration (if you have Sunder as well, you can reroll both dice), and lets you reroll to Wound against Dreadnoughts and Automata. In both Armourbane and Sunder, you must keep the reroll result - it's not roll 2, take highest like Ordnance type weapons.

It's kind of pointless to make this kind of statement without explaining why you would want to do that so that people can actually derive something they can apply to their actual living situation. The considerations are:

>Printers are quite noisy and are likely to be operating for hours at a time, so you don't want them in a room you're trying to sleep in.
>Resin has an odor that can be quite strong depending on the type of resin

These are non-issues if you have any kind of dedicated hobby space at all, or live alone, or have your own room, or have some kind of workshop space.

The models suck. The paint job is fine , but nothing about them screams word bearers, probably should have used different heads since the scout kit sucks. It’s an ancient sculpt that doesn’t have a place in the heresy. Finally, barrels should be drilled

To build on these anons’ points with an effortpost, i think that the problem with the scout models is mainly that gw is selling them in their heresy section. People see this, as well as the presence of scouts in the heresy rule book, so they buy them and build them. The problem is that the kit wasn’t designed with heresy in mind. It’s not suitable as a traitor kit without a lot of work on the imperialis and the heads, but newcomers may not be familiar with the heresy era and think “it’s sold under the heresy section, it should be fine to use as is”. It’s one of those kits like indomitus that comes with big caveats, requiring conversion to fit the setting, since it contains no traitor like parts and some questionable iconography. The mk3 and up kits designed with the heresy in mind have a good number of bitz to help reinforce the loyalist or traitor theme, power fists with talons and heavily scarred heads, for example. It’s a pipe dream, but I wish that all kits marketed under the heresy banner would be redesigned with this in mind. It’s too superficially similar to 40k for newcomers without a deeper knowledge of the setting’s lore, resulting in mix ups from well intentioned people like with those scouts.

You can get away with a crux here and there as veteran symbols but not ubiquitously all in the exact same place as the terminatus. It’s one of the few visual markers separating 30k from 40k. Honestly, there’s only like three motherfucking rules in this game:
>eyes of horus are for traitors
>imperialis is for loyalists
>crux terminatus is post-heresy
It’s not difficult to follow this barest minimum of effort.

Don't like 17 out of 18 of the legions use skulls as iconography? And the crossbones can just be a marking from a specific campaign: the time my legion ran a train on your mom. The highlight of the campaign was when she took the Primarch and his Equiry both at the same time in her pussy (loose enough to handle both after pushing your fat head out of it,) hence the crossbones to honor all who participated.

no one is forcing you to make your models look period accurate, anon. if you want your army to look like a half assed port of a 40k army, no one is stopping you, we're just judging you.

>its not getting updated
>despite him MANDATORY having shelf space to sell it
>and its on the GW website

let me guess, hes a fat retard who plays tau too?
>>
If I did troonscale, I'd probably lengthen the thighs, lengthen the abdomen more, thicken up the legs, and set the pauldrons wider out. The most offensive part for me is the monkey proportions with tiny abdomens and super-long arms.
>>
>>86132749
It is foolish to sit and judge if one does not even play the game is my point. In my experience nobody who actually plays cares. Even the oldfags at my store who've played since Calth don't give a shit and do the same thing as me, going back and forth between 40k and 30k stuff, depending on what they need and have readily available to play.

Champion doesn't really gel well with terminator for me, the extra ws is nice but you're paying an awful lot for a dude with a paragon blade and WS6, + melee termies to back him up to take advantage of Fearless + transport, or teleport strike for you I guess.

Praetor might be the better choice than Champion to fill the same role - tankier too.

Nullificators generally seem like they're waiting for either Cults or Daemoiuns to be throwing psykers at you left right and centre. Other than opening up more Nullificator squads the Consul version just seems like he'd be useful to bully power armour squads in melee most of the time, unless you want a really expensive way to get another disintegrator into your list.

Chaplain is the solid dependable choice in a melee terminator list - plus RAW a power glove, thunder mallet or stabby claw is a power weapon you can make master-crafted for free. How useful that would be given the number of turns you're likely to be in combat against any given unit is up to you, but giving Hatred (Everything) to another squad for melee is worthwhile.

I assume you filled your Heavy slot with a Leviathan or something and your Elites with termies so the Siege Breaker isn't worth it because he's got nothing to put phosphex in but his pockets.

Cata Forge Lord with cyber-familiar could make a nice complementary smashfucker to a melee force.

But yeah like other anon said a Librarian offers a lot of versatility and power. Even beyond Biomancy, you can get nice results from combi-bolters and Divinatory Aegis with LA:IF, Fugue can really fuck over a unit you're about to charge, etc.
>>
>>86132985
Nullificators also fuck power armor something fierce.
>>
>>86128912
Second detachment, RAW it's unclear, like all GW rules, if they want you to be able to take two detachments of the same legion or not. The language implies no, but doesn't go farther than implication.
>>
>>86133074
Language, intent, and tradition all imply no you silly fuck.
>>
>>86133089
The problem is that it still just implies. They never outright say that you can't bring the same legion. They just keep suggesting bringing two legions and showing pictures of multiple legions. It's bad precedent, even if the intent is clear.
>>
>>86133074
It has to be a different faction (i.e. Legion)
>>
>>86133089
How can you possibly know the intent? Did you write it or interview the person who did?
>>
>>86133015
What doesn't fuck power armour though

>he would follow the letter and intention of any directive from the Emperor to the death
Lion literally murdered one of his chaplains in cold blood because the guy was insisting on obeying the Emperor’s decrees.
>>
>>86133332
Fair, but that guy was still his soldier, trying to stop the Lion from doing his job of killing everything. He wouldn't tolerate one of his men telling him what the Emperor said. He'd never tolerate one of his brothers trying to tell him what the Emperor said or didn't say.
>>
>>86133320
Ur mum ayooo

artillery now
>>
>>86133354
It was an understandable reaction, but it still displays that Lion is perfectly willing to disobey the explicit will of the Emperor if it suits him.
>>
>>86133122
:( why
Also, how many allied detachments can you have?
>>
>>86133387
It would've been nice if Nemiel had explained the Lion the Throne expected him to oppose his own primarch, and then suggest the Lion he simply ordered him arrested, as to follow the formality

I agree, but he still takes his duty very seriously and it required need to make him break the agreement.
>>
>>86133423
As I understand it
>1 Primary Detachment
>1 Allied Detachment
>1 LoW Detachment
>1 Knight Household Detachment
>1 Titan Maniple Detachment
>>
>>86133473
So, if understand you correctly, the only way to have SM, Mech and Army models is to have a Brethren of Iron list with an Army allied detachment?
Not counting Titanicum, as it's only Secutarii (no automata?)

Got a casual 2k against a friend who's just got the starter box and is running word bearers, thoughts on my list?
>Dark Angels
>Cataphractii paladin (firewing, slayer of kings): greatsword, harness, chainfist, minor combi
>Cataphractii librarian (dreadwing, telepathy): force sword, psychic hood, harness, minor combi
>Cataractii chaplain (ironwing): crozius, harness, minor combi
>9 Inner circle knights (deathwing, reapers of hosts): harness, vexilla, 3 thunder hammers
>Apothecary (deathwing): artificier, volkite charger, Calibanite warblade
>Techmarine (deathwing): thunder hammer, boarding shield, cyberfamiliar, graviton gun
>Spartan (ravenwing): flamers, flamer, flare shield
>3 squads of stormwing tacticals in rhinos lol
>>
>>86131408
Hey , always happy seeing your stuff anon , like the IF anon , nice to see folk painting instead of bitching
>>
>>86134246
>3 Rhinos
>1 Spartan

I'd never take a techboi unless you have some dedicated heavy vehicle shit. Your rhinos are for your basic bitch boys and the spartan is a bugger to kill so its a waste imo

I'd also drop a character , probably the librarian , not really going to do much , unlike your chaplin who will do damage with the termies

I'd take a dreadnought instead of tech boy

Just in case his loadout wasn't a clue, techboi ain't there to fix things (except the spartan he's riding in). He's the 26th point of capacity in the spartan since the apothecary only takes up 1 and a 2+/4++/5+++ body to soak wounds for the termies
>>
>>86134340
Fairs, like I said , I dont take tech boys unless ive got heavy shit so not sure how they are as a extra body

Still think you should drop a hq
>>
>>86134246
Just so you know, your Apothecary and Techmarine can't join your deathstar because they're in Terminator armor.

Also 2000 points is a bit small to put all your eggs in one basket.
>>
>>86134402
Knew I was forgetting something.
Ah well, out with the apothecary and chaplain, in with a primus medicae. Tech marine is going to have to swap his shield for a jump pack and hump the back of the spartan.
>>
>>86131794
Loyalty is its own reward
>>
>>86132962
And I think you’re missing the point of modeling as a hobby
>>
>>86134715
A lot of people only see warhammer games as purely a game, with the modelling and painting as nothing but pointless time wasters. Specially amerifats it seems. Those type of players don't even understand why anybody could possibly have any problem with proxies, counts as, using random objects instead of models, and unpainted/unassembled shit.
>>
>>86134246
Apothecaries (and Techmarines) cannot be assigned to units wearing terminator armor
