This is assuming there is a clear path to the target server in the first place. More likely, there isn't, you were redirected once or twice, or you had to run a central before you could run it, since this is fucking Jinteki.
Jinteki is the one corp capable of anything approaching total server lockdown, not because they'll Ice a server so much its inaccessible, but because they turn it into a maze where you have to take so many fucking detours and run again on the same place that eventually, you can't feasibly run anything in your given windows.

Most don't work in Archives because they'll have the condition "if the runner access this card while installed", which can't be satisfied in Archive, but some, like Shi.Kyu does.. NBN and Jinteki both have the mechanic, but the Nips have more dedicated defense for that server than any other Corp.

That's mostly MTG-brain talking, I think. It's pretty intuitive especially when you consider her whole kit, in which the interaction between the two is clearly intentional. There's no such thing as intervening-if triggers that check both to trigger and on resolution in FAB, it's just a single check on resolution and the trigger exists regardless.

running archives in standard (and especially in startup) is pretty safe because the two most notorious archive traps are gone - Shock rotated, and Breached Dome is on the ban list. There are still some that work, and some non-ambush exceptions you need to watch out for like Stings in J:PE. but the overwhelming majority are of two types: the real dangerous ones that trigger only when installed like Urtica Cypher and Cerebral Overwriter. and the trigger-from-anywhere ones like Snare! that normally have some other limitation.

It's interesting, there's actually not that many ways to mitigate damage, and those that exist are pretty niche (or shortly due for rotation, like I've Had Worse and Sports Hopper). you really just have to soak it up and avoid it when you can. Draw events can be pretty clutch for that, as they let you overdraw before hitting a source of damage.

The chainlink, and the chain are different, but yes. Once the chainlink is resolved, and damage is dealt, you can't retroactively go back, but if you manage to do arcane damage in that same chain link, maybe via spellbound creepers, then yes, it will still trigger.

I got some of the drivethru printed cards. They're fine. nothing that will knock your socks off, but the weight and gloss is about like a normal playing card, they're cut correctly, ink looks good, etc. the heavier weight MPC ones are noticeably snappier, but you pay a premium for that.

On the subject of Ashes (and getting cards printed by third party companies), what do anon into Ashes think are the chances of the various Phoenixborn getting a second round of signature cards? Assumedly with a stipulation that only one of the two could be used in a single deck. Pretty sure that’s what rotations, formats, and “standard” is supposed to solve. You want to play continuously you stick to the oldest format or use your knowledge in the limited pool of cards. You new? Here’s a core intro and 2 years worth of mechanics instead of 5, 10, or 20 years worth of cards and keywords and sidedecks and bans and interactions.

Either way I don’t find the introduction of complexity something that can’t be enjoyed by new and old players alike. Introducing a mechanic or adjusting design so everyone can have more options is easily possible. Wixoss’s various uses of Exceed is an easy example of a mechanic introduced, altered, and realteted without is somehow becoming to overbearing for a brand new player or unfamiliar to an experienced one. I just think a lot of games do it terribly.

There is none! ScoreZ was English only. Even the DBS Card Game, despite being made entirely in-house by Bandai in Japan, is not available in Japanese. (The theory goes that since the Carddass version, which was pretty much a prototype of DBS rules wise, only made it to 5 sets, they didn't think that it would succeed domestically)

Old Lycee was a crossover game with 100% (as far as I ever saw) original art, showing it could be done and modern games are just skimping. It was… of questionable quality at times but hiring doujin artists, fans, and occasionally professionals for your game is much more charming.

I like that FF has added more of those commissioned pieces, and don’t entirely hate the idea of reusing some high-grade art that already exists but it doesn’t have to be the majority. But as long as you enjoy the game you’re playing I guess.

and the tax is 5 credits minimum
and if you refuse to pay the tax, you can't access ash
and hb has good 3 sub high strength ice that is relatively cheap, they get free clicks when they score things, and instead of being tempo negative, agendas are +5/+10 credits to the corp now, so you don't get to exploit other servers when the corp goes low to score (that aspect has been removed from the game).
They have genuinely banned four different cards to rein in this deck (vacheron, fairchild 3.0, slot machine, VLC), and it doesn't do anything because the core mechanics (18 point ID + food, so you have to go to the bottom of the deck to end the game. Caprice/ash but better and without link as a counterplay. Good in faction ice that is taxing that you also can't facecheck. You gain money by scoring agendas with your cheap agenda scoring tools.)
And for some reason, PD has 6 hand size, just to shit on the first shaper ID nisei printed.

Anon, do you know anything about FFTCG drafts? I posted about it in a previous thread but got no responses.

I've seen some inconsistent rules on draft with either 4 or 5 packs being used and some places stating that Backups can generate crystals of any colour. Do you know what the official rules are and how well the game plays with rainbow backups. I've had poor experiences with rainbow sealed before.

Each Navi had two of the four colors to back it, but they could be adjusted to tastes in some regards. A Navi's own cards obviously provide powerful options you can't get otherwise, but with my aformentioned 80% blue Torchman deck, I'm eschewing all of Torchman's red options save for Fire Factory. This gives me more general blue denial options to use in combination with, and using Ally cards like SharkMan or ProtoMan instead of his NetOp to fill necessary niches for my build. Fire Factory is the only red card in the deck, and requiring no red cards in play to play it makes it easy for me to still use as a strong poke option that helps even in the Power Gauge. So while color can matter, you can lean into one side of a Navi's gimmick usually and be fine. You just need to build for a goal that works. Which is easier to do for some colors than others sadly. Often you'll at least use one of your Navi's colors though.

No, each Navi proper is out at the start and can't be affected by cards intended to remove cards from the board. The basics of the game is you take turns playing cards until the end of the round. Each round you battle, and damage is dealt to your deck rather than a life counter. There are specific Ally type cards that represent different Navi's helping you from the side. But you can't use your own Navi as an Ally because card names on your field are unique. So when playing MegaMan as your Navi, you can't then play the MegaMan Ally, but you could play the ProtoMan Ally.

Starter Navis are unique and only available in the Starters. Some cards can only be found in the starters too. So it's a good way to get a head start on deck building for anyone depending, but most helpful for those Navis. Though you may end up buying multiples of the same starter to build a whole deck for your Navi of choice There's often a good spread of cards otherwise in there too.

Navi cards otherwise are common, so if you want to build for a non starter Navi, it's not hard to end up getting a ton of them with a couple packs.

Not necessarily. The MegaMan starter, for example, has 21 Battlechips out of a total of 59 cards, minus Navi. Deck limit is 60 plus Navi, so a third of the deck there is Battlechips. Which, in a deck where playing lots of Chips is the ultimate strategy it might be viable, but considering you'll be playing 1 chip a turn without cards like the Spikey Virus or the Meteor Battlechip to play more than one a turn, it's often going to end up with you having fewer chips than that on average. I've seen decks only carry 4 Battlechips in total before because they focus on Events and Resources to do direct damage rather than battle damage. Others build around increasing Blast Destiny to increase Strength rather than raw Battle Chip driven Strength boosts. It will take a bit of getting use to the game to determine what you want to do, as it's hard to offer advice without one knowing how the game works as a whole. But once you start getting the hang of all of the mechanics, deck building is a fairly easy task.

Yeah already bolding them, and using the Magic philosophy of explain the keywords fully on simple commons/uncommons and just use the keyword on more complex rares/cards players will see less often.

Yeah, I think that's the main thing I'm struggling with figuring out what's deserving of the symbol. Stuff that is universal for all factions/colors is a good starting point- but how much is to much? Can I replace all card types referred to in an ability text with a symbol? Short hand common card game actions like milling into a keyword? How about things that relate to when a card is destroyed? My main worry is cards looking like some sort of weird code cipher, so I guess I'm trying to figure out good places to draw the line.

Almost certainly not. It will both look like shit and make it awkward to add new types or subtypes for extra granularity when it comes to balancing. I don't think it's worth the brevity gained.
For conditional-symbols it's got to be the absolute fundamentals and only the fundamentals imo. "When played" and "when destroyed" are great candidates, but I don't know your game enough to suggest exactly what. Try to keep the symbols low, I'd consider no more than 5. Like you said, you don't want a code.
The reason I favor using your limited symbols on conditionals is you save 5 or more words, as opposed to 2 or less words for card-type symbols. "When CARDNAME enters the battlefield or attacks" is a fucking nightmare for MtG space wise.

Of course, I tried that in my last PQ and my first 3 rounds were all prism.

On the topic of blitz though, the whiplash of the last 2 metas has been concerning. First Viserai is sending so much fast arcane damage that no deck can possibly outrace or survive. Then Oldhim comes back with a list where unless you are Rhinar (or occasionally Kano) you just get fatigued and fuck you. Blitz is fundamentally broken.

Generally if you want to play a JP Weiss, Wixoss, or DM deck, or play games like Z/X, people will either memorize the cards or print out what they do. A number of players I’ve met know enough Japanese to recognize what some cards do (memorizing the words for “hand” or “destroy” or “deck” for example) and yeah if you’re actually playing in Japan it probably means you’re using some level of Japanese conversation.

Don’t know how popular, but it seems to be doing alright. Anecdotally my and other anon’s locals seem to be doing well, and people from other games have been trying it out. The online tournaments have been selling out and growing. Sets have gone through several reprints and they keep announcing more releases.

It’s not gonna hit the top 5 games any time soon I’d wager, but it’s doing fine.
