>>84525647I try to play lichess but it's considerably worse in two ways that ruin it for me.1. The sound effects are terrible. I have no idea how they haven't fixed this but they're compressy and don't sound like anything real. It doesn't sound like a chess piece hitting the board or tapping another piece when those things happen. And top of that they're both just ugly sounds, coupled with the equally ugly game over sound.2. The touchscreen performance sucks (I'm a phonefag). Something I'm sure they would fix with chess.com's money but they don't have it.I'll gladly switch fulltime if they can fix these. Let me know when lichess starts responding to reports. Not coming back or participating in the team until then. Played numerous cheats tonight, often times in a row. It's completely out of hand. Not doing it.
>>84526626i thought lichess automatically detects cheaters
>>84526640They have a rudimentary ability to detect when you have the analysis board open in another tab and if you're just putting in engine moves every move for 100 games, but anything nuanced will never be caught. Apparently.
>>84526640Not in my experience. I had had a few messages from them confirming someone (they never tell you who) you reported was banned. That has dried up in recent months though. I have played a few very obvious cheats since then and nothing.
>>84526626are the cheats in the room with you right now?
>>84526626Lichess literally responded to a report I gave yesterday. I reported someone and he got banned within a few hours, so you can come back to the team. >>84526640They do sometimes but it's pretty crappy. They mostly rely on reports.Maybe they've made the algorithm more conservative because they were getting too many false positives. I was banned about a year ago or something and appealed and they reinstated my account the next day, claiming the algorithm made a mistake.
Ah yes the seriouschest cheating episode a great piece of /chess/ history.

>>84526798>Lichess literally responded to a report I gave yesterday. I reported someone and he got banned within a few hoursThat sounds like a pretty obvious and egregious case. Can you post the game?
>>84526934>Can you post the game? They never will. Ever.
>>84526626>>84526673You're just bad at chess.
>>84526953As usual, everyone is inferior to you (whoever you are) in general. I'm not even them but because I'm not an insecure asshole I'll give them the benefit of the doubt thay they know the difference between losing a game because they're not Magnus and it happens vs playing someone who gives the strong impression of cheating. Because I don't just assume everyone but me is retarded as a coping mechanism for being retarded myself.
>>84526993Based
>>84526934yep>>84526940Are you from the "no one ever cheats in online chess" camp? I can assure you they do. https://lichess.org/@/tibianochessThis is the account. He closed his account after being banned. But his games are still viewable via the search function.https://lichess.org/games/search?players.a=tibianochess&sort.field=d&sort.order=desc#resultsI didn't play the guy but I saw him in the weekly rapid tournament. He was a 1900 with a 2470 performance rating and his time usage was very odd and uniform. In the report I included a few random games and told them the situation.
>>84527016Thanks for posting the game, it's pretty impressive that they responded so fast. I expected for that time frame that it'd be something like a new account winning 10 games in a row with engine moves sort of thing. Makes me wonder if they have their system set up to prioritize reports from higher rated and/or longer established accounts.
I think I just benefited from a move order screwup from black. Or something. That's what I thought the knight blunder was. Instant Bxf3 was a surprise. Towards the end I overlooked that I had Ne1 to protect my pawn but it didn't matter at that point.
How do they detect cheaters? Do they run some statistical analysis on frequency of engine moves throughout the player's games? Sounds like something they could do but I don't know.
>>84527033Idk but I think I've had all but one of my reports acted on. So like 90+% of the time the guy gets banned. I have been cheated against sooo many times in lichess rapid that I take a bunch of precautions now against it. When I get matched with someone, I hover over the username and abort it if there's a 500-600 pt difference between rapid and blitz. And if they don't have a blitz rating, I very quickly go to their top wins and look at the computer analysis and time usage to decide whether to abort.Since switching from 10+5 to 10+0 and doing these things, I don't think I've faced any cheaters at all.
>>84527090>Do they run some statistical analysis on frequency of engine moves throughout the player's games? They're somewhat shy about the exact process but it's believed to be that mainly, yes. And consistency of move times, history.
>>84527105>When I get matched with someone, I hover over the username and abort it if there's a 500-600 pt difference between rapid and blitz. >>84527293Huh. He did quote me (>>84526673) so maybe I should add a bit more detail. When I say "a few" I mean I wind up putting in a report about once per month. I always check in analysis and have a look at account history before I complain to lichess nanny jans as I want the report to be in the realm of very likely rather than just a tad suspicious.
>>84527227Once again you're the only genius alive, on the other hand one guy getting a response to his report doesn't mean everyone else does. As other anon mentioned, could have been prioritized because his rating is high and he has an established account. Lesser accounts might get shuffled to the bottom of the stack and ultimately blown off. Or maybe they just respond when they feel like it. Nobody is arguing that they literally don't respond to reports, the point is that they're majorly slacking. By the way, I don't even believe this, but because I'm not retarded I can entertain the argument without being a disengenuous prick. So tired of this reddit ass passive aggressive tone online. You need a wake up call. You're not whatever has you gassed up to believe you are.

>>84528333You're not retarded. Your untrained. It's a game you can get better at anon. I didn't play much until I was about around 36. I started around 1600 on Lichess, and my peak is around 2150 there. The main difference between me and you is that I used to do tactics puzzles and checkmate exercises for fun when I was a kid. Tactics really is the secret to being better than average at the game. Nothing else really matters if you're surviving the opening. Now as you get stronger, you'll probably want to learn some openings and really basic endgames, but at your level tactics really is everything.
>>84529889Also GetzImre: wouldn't it be a good idea to up the number of leaders who decide the battle? Their top 8 are monsters and best 5 vs best 5 might be tough. But the comparison gets more even from there. If the best 12, 13, 14-ish are decisive that looks like our sweet spot. Approximately the top 40% of each team. >>84530399Great, hope you do!
>>84526673One thing I noticed is that Lichess used to catch a lot of cheaters and notify me on my first account. Then I took a break and came out. They almost never report catching a cheater against me now. It strains belief. I know that I've played cheaters, probably roughly the same amount as always, but even when I report them they no longer catch them. I used to have near perfect accuracy in reporting them too. I think Lichess ranks accounts when it comes to reporting cheaters and gives them some kind of social credit for how reliable your reports are. If you fuck up and wrongfully report a few people right away, then they just ignore your future reports.
>>84520883Just hit 2k in puzzles on com but I don’t feel any better at the game. I think I’ve spent too much time playing d4.

I don't understand how the tournament scoring works. What is the purpose of the team leaders? Is it very different from the normal tournaments we play on the weekend?
>>84530704scroll down the tournament page, explains everything.
>>84530715I looked at that. I am pretty sure that's exactly what it says for the weekend tournaments, and it doesn't mention team leaders at all.
>>84530704For the individual player should be the same as usual tournaments. Only difference you just get paired against opponents from the other team. I believe the overall team battle victory then goes to the side with the better scoring Top 15 (by end results not by lichess rating).

finna 'fe soon.
>>84531961Fischer was afraid of facing Karpov, therefore Karpov > Fischer according to Fischer.
>>84531961Fischer and Morphy are the highest peaks relative to the field but that's it. Neither of them sustained it for more than a few years which is why Kasparov generally gets the nod.

Final warning for the big fight against reddit: https://lichess.org/tournament/eEF5DucOI even posted one on there too. My picture wasn't uploaded, but hopefully it will do.Its nice that so many people joined the arena, especially so with all the returnees of the previous tourneys.I talked with one of the leaders of the r/chess lichess team and if everything goes well, there can be a future with these team battles. I apologize to those who couldn't make it. The starting time is supposedly one of the best for everyone but some will always be left out.Good luck to everyone and enjoy the battle!

I've heard that you can't even be racist on reddit.
>>84532559You get paired automatically. You don't need to do anything other than play whoever the system gives you. After the game, you wait for another pairing and so on.
