Ah, I see you fell into "OP is a fag" trap
>>
WAP players, what's your opinion on crossbows vs handguns?
In 8th everyone was into crossbows, as the superior range gave you an extra 3 inches of shooting without long range penalties. However, with long range penalties replaced, do you think handguns are now on equal or better terms with their rival?
>>
How the fuck do you stop yourself from jumping from project to project without finishing any?
>>
>>82970523
I don't. Rotating large projects, along with a basic healthy lifestyle, is how I avoid burnout.

Personal restraint and discipline.
Pick an army and set a goal the number of points you want it to equal. Pick an achievable goal you think you can do.
Once you've reached that goal, then you can continue to build and add to it and/or move on to another project.
It's very easy to hope around armies and chase after the faction that is currently turning your head, but as long as you like the army your building don't deviate until it's reached a point of completion.

Reposting the list; How's this for a 1000 points of DoW in 6th ed? Im thinking of joining a 1000 points tournament and if I join I'd have to paint up the Fighting Cocks
>Mercenary Captain; Heavy armour, Sword or Power, shield. 76 points
>Paymaster; Heavy armour, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, hand weapon. 86 points
>Hireling Wizard; level 2, Dispel Scroll. 120 points
>20 Pikemen; Heavy armour and full command. 250 points
>5 Volands Venators. 195 points
>8 Duelists; hand weapon, pistols, bucklers. 80 points
>10 Crossbowmen. 80 points
>10 Lumpin Croop's Fighting Cocks. 118 points
>Total: 1005 points
I'm thinking of maybe putting the paymaster on a barded horse and taking the Enchated Shield away so that I don't have both characters (captain and paymaster) inside the same unit.
Other stuff I have painted are
>20 Long Drongs Slayer Pirates
>20 paymasters bodyguards with full command
>Halfling hot pot
>Truthsayer
>Fen beast
I could also paint up a cannon quickly, I think

Make clear goals with clear deadlines. "I want my army done by summer" is not a clear goal. "I will paint 10 models on sunday from" is a clear goal.
Don't overdo it. Don't think you can paint an army in 48 hours if you haven't painted a model for six months. Make your ambitions reasonable and finish them before starting on something new.
>>
>>82970523
I don't. 5 500 point armies is way cooler than one finished one.
>>
How does this High Elf list sound, not quite sure on the edition we'll go with so didn't include points, just need to buy a few more metal spearmen to have the whole thing complete (everything pewter) and start stripping stuff, I might do a test model first:

>Lord Hero on Steed

>Mage
- Lvl 2

>20 Spearmen
- Full command

>5 Silver Helms
- Full Command

>5 Ellyrian Reavers
- Musician/Champion

>2 Repeater Bolt Throwers 100
>>
>>82970835
How about you tell us what edition is that for?
>>
>>82970206
Both have their place I think. Crossbows give you a first turn threat even if you start. Handguns on the other hand punch through armor and can get a special gun, which is a boon against medium/heavy troops. If you start with your handgunners out of range, it can be useful to march them up to a position that you are planning to hold with your melee state troops - the supporting fire will pay off most of the time.
>>82970523
Set yourself small achievable goals - painting batches can be useful for this. And if you naturally incline towards shifting interests, have a couple different painting batches going on that you can rotate through - but you need to have the discipline to not add any more until you finish something.
>>
>>82970871
6th most likely, but could be 8th. We have both books floating around in our group. But for 8th I'd probably build an all plastic force with the IoB boxes I still have lying around...
>>
>>82970523
That depends on the following:
>do you have a realistic deadline
Such as oncoming match, commison, etc
Remember that it's a hobby, ie. thing that's supposed to give you fun and pleasure and not another aspect of your worklife. If you feel that you'd rather do something else for variety sake - just go for it. Hobby enthusiasm is an important resource and if you burn yourself out then neither your main project nor the secondary/tertiary one will get finished.

That said you should have some discipline if your aim is to have an army completed, regardless of point size.

I got a WoC army of +5000 points, and once I'm done with all of the current projects that I have started for it I'm pretty much satisfied with calling it completed with the odd additon of daemon princes and spawns.
That being said the half-done projects I currently have for it are the following:
One regiment of +20 Chosen of Nurgle with additional hand weapons (out of which 10 are half-painted).
One regiment of +20 Warriors of Nurgle with halberds.
8 Minotaurs of Nurgle.
40 Marauders of Nurgle (out of which 12 are already completed).
4 Nurgle themed Dragon Ogres with GWs.
1 GUO/Wingless Daemon Prince.
10 Knights of Nurgle.
Some forsaken and Warriors with shields.
In other words, I pretty much have an entire second army to finish up...
>>
>>82971180
Since I've already put a list to it maybe I should set myself some specific target dates for when I should have finished what.
>>
>>82971180

>>82970742
>Im thinking of joining a 1000 points tournament
Anon if you're going for tournament playstyle you need to radically change your list. It has a little bit of everything and none is good really. IMHO the only strong unit here are VV rest is all over the place. I'm not sure if you're the one who has posted that bat rep vs HE some time ago but as far as I remember that battle illustrated your list waknesses pretty well.
>>
>>82971072
Why not? My group has the most nostalgic attachment to it and it has the most cavalry/skirmisher friendly playstyle so I guess it's a bit easier to start since you don't need multiple giant regiments.
>>82971439
My group in this scenario is just my brother and one other friend. We haven't really made a formal decision. We have army books for everything but 6th is the edition we played during high school era. I'm currently creating some movement trays for my Skaven so I can play some test games before I commit to the high elf backlog. For reference, they play Wood Elves and Vampire Counts.

Our group mostly plays AoS and Underworlds but desu with Covid and the fact everyone is over 30 there's been very little activity.

No, I've never played anything but 8th ed.
As to why I like Nurgle I think that it's a mixture of liking the general theme of the god, in particular the whole succumbing to despair thing he got going for him, the myriad potential for gross conversions he offers and the tanky playstyle.

Yup, that was me. So basically I'd need more heavy cav and shooting (1 more crossbow unit/cannon) instead?
>>
>>82971804
whatever happens: rare slot goes to cannon, no ifs nad buts.
It depends what's your preferable playstyle and what units can you take. Lumpin's dudes could work because they are BS4 skirmish, regardless of the list. Overall I'd focus on cavalry (both light and heavy) and duelits. Hard to tell really. What stuff do you have BTW

What I have painted is;

>Paymaster on foot
>Hireling wizard
>Truthsayer
>20 pikemen with full command
>16 Marksmen of Miragliano with full command
>5 Volands Venators
>5 Ungol horse archers (uses as light cav)
>8 Vesperos Vendetta
>20 Long Drongs Slayer Pirates
>20 Paymasters bodyguards with full command
>Halfling hot pot
>Fen beast
As for not painted;
>Mercenary general on horse (not assembled)
>Lucezzia Belladona (horse not assembled)
>5 Golgfags ogres
>10 duellists (5 estalian swordsmen and 5 war dogs)
>12 crossbowmen
>12 Lumpin Croops Fighting Cocks
>10 Mengils Manflayers
>Bronzinos Galloper Gun
>Mercenary cannon
As for play style; I'm in it for the fun of it, but I feel more confortable with two units of melee infantry so that I can put my characters in different units

Which means you have an excellent opportunity to make your own fluff as suits your needs.

Duelists are definitely good units. I'd take like 2-3 with either pistols or knifes and 2xcc. They are a good mobile screen that can handle light skirmishers or light cav if opponent is not careful.

As for the general tactics, you can't pull off Empire shenanigans but I'd advise oblique-ish tactics with your cannon and infantry forming one wing and center and cavalry going on the other. All depends on terrain and your deployment of course and how much you want to invest in each part of the army. Generally I'd rather go light on named units in 1000pts army, unless it's Venators or Cocks. Or Braganza who seems great as a part of the anchor.
Anyway. since you're there for fun (I approve):
>screens/harrasers
duelists
>cannon
>unit of heavy cab
>Cocks
would serve you right in any list.

Making a special thane character for a campaign with a slightly modified statline(8th edition). M3 WS5 BS3 S4 T4 W2 I3 A4 Ld9
Making them slightly weaker than a regular thane, but with an extra attack to make up for it. Would you make this any cheaper than the 65 points for a thane, or does the extra attack offset the loss of toughness and WS? This is before any runes or upgrades.

>>
>>82972581
Oh, since we are on the topic; how good are Golfags ogres in 6th?
I have the feeling that they lose something due to not having the Bull Charge rule that the ogre kingdoms have in the same edition and whose units you can field as special choices in DoW (except Maneaters, those count as two special choices), but in the other hand they have heavy armour, two hand weapons, cause Fear and have a hero level ogre in the unit

>>

>>
>>82973808

>>
>>82973946
Could be done with the ogre but the gnoblars are on 25mms.
>>
>>82973464
I'd say they are worth it.
They are slightly cheaper than Bulls with 2xCC, LA, standard and musician with Bruiser (2xcc, HA) attached. What you're gaining in addition to that is heavy armour and two extra attacks (one on Golgfag, one on Skalf) and point of Ld on Golgfag. What you're losing is bull charge and lokk out gnoblar. Every additional Golgfag ogre is more expensive by 2pts but gets heavy armour.

IMHO they are fairly costed and totally worth it.
>>
>>82974025
BTW do not forget that you can take Maneaters as special in DoW army. I think two of them could do the job in 1000pts army since they kick ass and are stubborn.
>>
>>82973201
>it's so hard!!!!
lmao
>>
>>82973201
Mate just cut off whatever part you want from the base and then glue that to a seperate square base. Cover any gaps with basing material and bam, you've just transplanted said model onto a square base.
>>
>>82974092
>>82974025
Thanks for the advice, anon! I'll get on with the cannon and then see what I'll paint up next of all my back log
>>
>>82973975

Do you mean "art scale" ie. models having proortions closer to artistic canon? Then yes, those are mostly very fine. But if you mean "size of those models in relation to WHFB units" then no, they are waaay larger and would look somehow comical in a regiment if you care about such things.

Are you literally blind? They are almost ogre sized and tower like 3 2,5 heads above the skeleton
>>
>>82976240
They're all 32mm scale, so far too big for WHFB. They also come as a single piece, pre-glued to their rather large round bases. So no, they offer not opportunity for kitbashing.
If you're feeling creative, you can probably remove them from their bases, but I don't think they'll fit ranked up on 20x20mm square bases.

Your melee characters all have T3 so they fall over in a stiff breeze. Your regular infantry is good on paper, but crazy overcosted and very squishy. Your elite infantry is mostly good (swordmasters and white lions have their uses, but phoenix guard are pure shite) but hard to make work in an edition where static combat resolution is king. As others have said, basically the only way to play them competitively is either magic spam or cavalry spam, and while the book has some strong points (excellent mages, two eagles for one slot, bolt throwers are great) it's pretty limited in flexibility.

That said, that's all from a tournament perspective. If your playgroups power level isn't too high then you can play basically whatever in 6th - kind of like playing kitchen table MTG. I recently attended a casual event in the UK for 6th and there were a lot of HE players, many did quite well and the builds weren't all that cookie cutter.
>>
>>82988449
For me one of the biggest (except for utterly retarded and unfair Intrigue) HE derps is their army organisation. You can only take one, fucking ONE of each: Swordmasters, White Lions, Dragon Princes and Phownx guard, meaning you have one S5 and ones S6 unit no matter the point level. Against heavy armoured or tough armies it's literally a crippling limitation. And if that wasn't enough all of those units except for Swordmasters are total shit and WL and PG are also in rare slot which also has the most obvious choice of repeater bolt throwers which are essential for HE. This book was written by a fucking idiot, so idiotic that he surpassed even Thorpe in writing bad book and later's DE or Dwarfs are literally an artistry in writing bad shit.
>>
>>82988520
Agreed - it's so close to being good but the organisation of units into core / special / rare is just brutal at times.

Also intrigue at court is turbo retarded and could have been done in any number of other ways.

Again, I dont hate it though. The 7th edition is peak HE though it marks the beginning of that editions power creep which is a shame.

Slaughterpriest of khorne: 145 pts
M4 Ws6 Bs3 S4 T4 W2 I5 A3 LD8

Equipment:
Hand Weapon
Chaos Armor

Special Rules:
Eye of the Gods
Mark of Khorne
Magic Resistance (1)
Bloodcaller
Catechisms of Slaughter
Savage Fury

The Slaughterpriest may take:
A great weapon: 10pts
Halberd: 10pts
Additional hand weapon (on foot only) 5pts
Shield: 5pts

A slaughterpriest may take magic items worth up to 50 points
A slaughterpirest may take chaos mutations and powers worth up to 25 points

The slaughterpriest may choose to be mounted on:
Barded chaos steed: 15pts
Juggernaut of khorne: 55pts

Bloodcaller:

Keep track of the wounds inflicted by the slaughterpriest in close combat (wounds inflicted by the mount of a model with this rule count towards the number), at the start of the following magic phase you may roll that number of d6 and add a power die to your pool for each result of 4+

Savage Fury:
The slaughterpriest and all models in his unit have the devastating charge special rule for as long as they possess frenzy from any source. If a model has lost its frenzy from losing combat but subsequently regained it from any source it is eligible for this special rule.

Catechisms of slaughter:
The Slaughterpriest knows three catechisms of slaughter, these are innate bound spells (power level 4), catechisms of slaughter are augment spells that target the slaughterpriest and his unit.

Bloodlust:
Until the start of the next magic phase, any roll time the slaughterpriest or a model in his unit rolls a 6 to hit they may make an additional attack. A result of 6 on any attacks generated this way do not generate further attacks.

Ward of blood:
Until the start of the next magic phase, the slaughterpriest and his unit possess a 4+ ward save against shooting attacks and spells.

Infernal Horror:
Until the start of the next magic phase, the slaughterpriest and his unit count as causing terror
>>
>>82988764
Also add a lord tier version that is to this what the archlector is to the warrior priest, and he can take a warshrine in the same way the lector can take the war-altar of sigmar. Replace banishment with a magic missile or something. idk.

I feel like the last power may be kinda worthless, but I couldnt really think of another fairly minor effect in line with prayers. I considered some kind of bestial lurch effect where the unit moves forward a random ammount and charges if it hits an enemy, but that felt too strong. Also considered adding a secondary effect like "cant use inspiring presence" or "must reroll successful leadership tests" or whatever, but that similarly felt far too strong.
>>
>>82988764
>(wounds inflicted by the mount of a model with this rule count towards the number)
I think if you are going to do this, I'd make the mounts more expensive.
Maybe make it static for less book keeping. Like +1 power dice if the Bloodcaller is in best to base with an enemy model, and another +1 if it inflicted one or more wounds in combat.
Also maybe make it dispel dice too, so you don't have to keep the count for two combats.

>Also intrigue at court is turbo retarded and could have been done in any number of other ways.
OR it could have been totally left out because it's a dumb and unnecessary mechanics.
Good that you don't hate it though, but I've tried to make some satisfactionary lists that actually do something and cost of those units is just eye watering. Even if you take their basic bitch spearmen each one costs 11pts and to make them work you need to take at least 15 (being generous and not counting damage done to them by shooting etc). That costs you 165 pts without command (for some unknown reason elven commands are fucking expensive even at core section) and survivability/damage output of that unit is fucking shit. I got tired of trying and it's a fucking pity since I like HE and would like to play them very much. Unfortunately even on casual level playing HE without spamming the same shit (magic+cav) is a torture.
>>
>>82988764
>>82988811
One thing that does concern me about the rules I wrote, and maybe warrants a change of how the bound spells work (I didnt want to use a particularly unique system since its meant to function like battle prayers) is that the guy may just end up being a dice generator for proper wizards, with him being sent in to combat against chaff to rack up kills and in turn power dice for purple sun or whatever, which is clearly wrong and not how he should function.

Maybe make it so that these dice can only be used towards casting his !prayers? That should stop the possible abuse.

>>82988863
Yea, I meant it to be dispell dice when done in the enemy magic phase, but I guess I phrased it poorly.
Making it static might be better from a simplicity and balance perspective, but I wanted to have it call back to the khorne shaman from mordheim.

As for making the mounts more expensive, I guess that could work? I actually made the horse cheaper by 1 point simply because the irregular number bothered me (seriously, 16 points? What a silly number). Hows 20 for the horse and 65 for the juggernaut? Then again I feel hes already priced fairly conservatively, since hes the cost of a level 2 wizard and on a mount. But its worth considering.
>>
Is it viable, viable, without being dickish to include 3 Spear Chukkas in an O&G 8th edition army of 2500 points?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm considering making some Maneaters to represent them and wouldn't mind if they could also be used as a unit of leadbelchers.
>>
>>82989117
Sure?
>>
>>82989117
>3 Spear Chukkas in an O&G 8th edition army of 2500 points?
Sure, 2500 points is a lot, even in 8th edition, so 3 Spear Chukkas shouldn't be a problem.
Unless you plan to go war-machine heavy, but then I doubt spear chukkas will be the thing your opponent has biggest problem with

My original plan was to have one Rock Lobber and two Spear Chukkas but three of the latter makes more sense to me if I want to have the option of using them as Leadbelchers aswell. With their lousy bs they seem like something more fun than serious anyway.

>>82989436
My plan for the army thus far is to not have any goblins in it. To give an example, my Mangler Squig is one of those big AoS boar & rider which I will convert into being in a state of arrow-pierced frenzy.
If I want some actual goblins later on I'll just make myself a goblin sub-army.

Dark elves get their slaves from idustrial scale raiding the world over.

Okay, I want you to imagine the human population of several continents (the old world + whatever the fuck cathay and ind are + southlands + nippon)
Hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of people could go missing and the population would not die out, because the population is actually quite big.

The aztecs could kill 20,000 per year, and they had their immediate neighbors on a comparatively miniscule front for targets. A culture/people that take prisoners from all over the entire world? They could fill rivers with the blood of dead slaves and not make a dent in the grand scheme of things.

>>
>>82991742
I can’t imagine beastmen would make good slaves
>>
>>82991773
I imagine they're the best. They're literally half domesticated animal.
>>
>>82991773
Depends what you want to use them for:
Gladiatorial combat, pretty good.
Dusting your delicate knick-knacks, probably not so much.
>>
>>82991742
Dwarf slaves are rare, theres a tiny number of dwarfs out there and the existing ones are generally holed up in a big ass fortress thats a pain to attack. Thats why dwarfs are the most expensive slaves after high elves, which carry an immense price due to coming form Ulthuan and being the sworn enemy of the druchii.
Never heard of beastmen slaves, seems like a daft idea given the way beastmen are.
They also stopped using greenskin slaves when that proved too much of a liability, nor is there an indication of them using lizardmen slaves.
>>
>>82991903
There are Dwarfs in the new world?
>>
>>82991930
Technically yes, but the population is completely negligible in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>82984296
Gamezone, as in Gamezone miniatures - the bolt thrower on the lower right is made by them.
>>82985414
Haven't done it myself yet, but I have the Bögenhafen Barons waiting to be converted. They seem to be pretty popular, and the Wood Elf team makes for great War Dancers with a little effort.
>>82985940
Mousillon is much more than just undead Bretonnians. Mousillon is a unique cesspit of misery where the taint of undeath and chaos ails the land, while the living, the dead and the mutant walk it, the wicked and the chivalrous trying to carve a piece of it for their own.
An army of Mousillon would be a strange mix of living, undead and mutated Bretonnians and chaos-afflicted individuals and creatures.
>>
>>82991980
Whereabouts?
>>
>>82992066
Well you have however many as slaves in Naggaroth, then you have a handful in lustria doing explorer shit.

As I said, its a completely negligible amount.
>>
>>82990968
With how little it is covered in the actual fluff, my take: wilderness, beasts, beastmen, skaven, native humans driven into hiding in harsher lands, farmland for the dark elves tended by their slaves, probably shadow warriors preparing guerrilla missions
>>
>>82992125
>skaven
>>
>>82992094
Ah right. When you mentioned being holed up in a fortress I thought you meant in the new world somewhere, my bad.
>>
>>82991876
I now have a hilarious mental image of a frustrated gor being forced to sew and mend dresses for a delf household.
>>
>>82992125
>probably shadow warriors preparing guerrilla missions
Youre not wrong, but the scale of numbers here is silly.

Itd be like saying Ulthuan is populated by dark elves due to the presence of various cells and shade clans or whatever.

>>82992168
Do it right or its back to the milking shed!
>>
>>82992159
Well, really I meant that most dwarfs call a fortress of some kind their home, not that they all live in the same fortress. But yea, I was talking about the karaks of the old world.
>>
How long do elves live anyway?
>>
Reiksguard would be cooler if they were called Rjiksgarda
just my personal opinion
>>
>>82987538
eh, i dont like em much. they're just not as good as the real TK stuff. i feel the same about mantic and lost kingdom stuff
>>
>>82992383
Depends.
We dont have a hard answer, but we know they have a biological expiration date and that magic can keep them going almost indefinetly.

Id imagine a coupe of centuries, maybe a millenia max.
>>
>>82992494
so for ones that have been going forever like Morathi there's magic involved?
>>
>>82992502
Morathi and Malekith have unnaturally long lives extended by dark magic, yes. The only other elf from their time who is still alive in any sense is Caledor trapped in the Vortex, and he may just be a spirit at this point.
>>
>>82992502
Yea, Morathi, Malekith, Alith, Orion, Orions wife... Magic is whats keeping them going.

A big thing with Hellebron is that she resents Morathi's eternal beauty and youth, and that her own lifespan is extended via the cauldron of blood Morathi gifted the cult of khaine, but that because shes so old even the magic youth cauldron cant keep up and is slowly using effectiveness.

But basically, Morathi has more dark magic juju going on than anyone except maybe Malekith or Nagash, and may potentially have anything from gods to demons to things more unmentionable in her corner.
Malekith is at this point basically a self made chaos warrior powered by dhar and seething.
Alith Anar has loec(?) keeping him going
Orion has Kurnos and is a demigod
Orions wife has Isha and is a demigod

Alith Anar may not even be the original guy, he could be several different guys assuming the persona over the ages. Or he's a ghost, or it's a Grombrindal situation. Or it's all of them and he's a Phoenix Lord
>>
>>82992175
I didn't mean there are entire Nagarythe shadow warrior populations living out there, heavens no. That would be silly indeed.
>>82992548
Orion is also "renewed" every year, a new elf offering their body and soul unto the cycle - unless of course Ariel is feeling crazy. Each incarnation of Orion lasts for a rather short time, but the collective that is Orion is incredibly old.

what's the best way to use shades in groups of 5? treat them like 40k elites?

Who is the Dark Mother? Slaanesh?
>>
>>82992727
Pretty sure it's hontra
>>
>>82992727
Short answer? We don't know, its a generic placeholder god added to flesh out the druchii pantheon from beyond just khaine.

Could be hekarti, drakira or some other later elven goddess if you want compatibility.
>>
>>82992727
Could be. The Dark Elves' whole thing is being anti-Chaos while also being led down the garden path by Morathi
>>
>>82991903
If I recall right it's the dwarf slaves who made some of the great Naggarothi fortresses. Probably nabbed them during the War of the Beard, though you could probably get a few more from Barak Varr.

Probably going to get piled on for this but I like fish elves, their aesthetic and general vibe are so different it doesn't really tread on the original 3 elf flavours and allows them to do their own thing. Incidentally this is also why I dislike all AoS dwarfs because they're all silly exaggerations (perversions?) of fantasy dwarf archetypes. This doesn't allow them to grow into their own thing and they're just stuck in this limbo of "amped up WFB" which was a terrible era for AoS.
>>
>>82994374
At that point the 40k Deathwing had their Native American theme right? And Necromunda's ratings. Maybe that was enough indulgence for them, since neither was a faction in their own right but part of a larger one/game.
>>
>>82994601
You're allowed to like things as long as you can explain good reasons for what you enjoy anon. I can't pretend I like them a lot but they're better than the cow elves and I can see some worthwhile kitbash material.
>>
>>82994601
It's a cool concept, the sea army with a blend between cute critters and horrors of the deep. Pick your preference. I like the sea critters.
>>
>>82994601
Personally I don't mind some of the Kharadrons. The airships are a logical iteration on the gyros in my view. The slayers suck due to execution (lamp axes, really?) but conceptually I don't mind the idea of hammering magical runes into your skin as it seems something a crazy shamefast amped up on Grimnir would consider. Don't care for the fish elves, but I quite like some of the newer dark elf stuff, the medusa elf thingies feel very Har Ganeth.

Well GW was just taking Slayers, turning them up to 150%, and calling it an army. They didn't care that Slayers were meant to stand out as a single unique unit, naked and orange-haired, within the context of a larger dwarf army layered in metal armor with drab beard colors, they just latched on to the most "see we made this it's not generic" parts of their IP to cannibalize. Witch Elves stand out? Give them snake bodies. Trees that can walk can't be copyrighted? Have a ghostly looking elf body growing out of them, no one's done that yet. Goblins? Everyone has goblins, we should take our cave-dwelling ones that happen to use mushrooms and add MORE SHROOMS haha shroomy dudes.

The fact that any of it has ended up good is a small miracle. They're not bad ideas but most were never meant to stand on their own and have become heavily focused pastiches.

>>
>>82995178
Yeah, that explains my feelings on fyreslayers. One on his own looks cool, a horde or army of them. No.
Least there will be plenty of options for slayer models in ToW
>>
would red armour, purple cold ones/cloaks and snowy bases be a good look for dark elves?
>>
>>82995178
There's no reason for them to be naked, really. Normal slayers are mostly shirtless, but they still have armoured guys like Ungrim and specialists like Malakai who aren't totally naked.
>>
>>82993926
I swear I read somewhere that the first thing the Druchii did after getting driven off Ulthuan was kidnap a bunch of high elf masons to design their cities. The funny part was the second thing they did was kidnap a bunch of humans to do the manual labor for those masons.
>Oh gods I've been enslaved by druchii what horrible things are they going to do me?
>We need you to build cities for us
>What?
>Here's a bunch of human slaves to do it with
>What?
>>
>10 Black Guard are $70

>>
>>82995647
Seethe all you want but solo minis look best on rounds. Units on squares, rounds for standalone look at me
>>
>>82996464
Incorrect. As long as you have a good base, whether it's round or square matters little for a solo mini. It'd be like claiming a square or round table is better for wargaming as long as it's big enough.
>>
>>82990806
Imagine a unit of estalian perroflauta
>>
>>82995896
To be fair, Ungrim is trapped between his inherited slayer oath (thus the mohawk and orange beard) and his oath as a king to protect/guide his people (thus the armour to avoid him dying too quickly).
As for Malakai; he's an odd one for dwarf standards, since he continues with his experiments instead of trying to die fighting 24/7. Plus, I'd say that since he's an "outcast" he has more freedom to break the strick rules of the engineers guild, since they can't make him take the slayer oath again.
But that's my opinion
>>
>>82995934
No, the druchii designed their own cities, its why the architecture is so different.

They did have kidnapped dwarf masons build specific elements, but the vision of a big spiky deathtrap? Thats all the dark elves.
>>
>>82995037
Absolutely.
>>
>>82994622
>cow elves
Ah, the high elves hit by a retardifier
>>
>>82992628
A ghost might be a real possibility, there are other stories where elf ghosts appear because they have something important to do. And an elf being too angry to really die fits right into warhammer.
Sometimes elves and dwarfs are closer to each other than they want to admit
>>

>>
>>82988764
I think that it looks pretty good.
However I'd change the Bloodcaller special rule to taking away dices from the enemy during his next magic phase rather than adding to yours. That seems way more fluffy and pertaining to the gameplay of the anti-magic god.
Basically the killing caused by a Slaughterpriest of Khorne acts as a magnet which draws the attention of Khorne to the battlefield, dissipating the winds of magic in the area.

Heck, it might be fun to have the Bloodcaller ability trigger when the Slaughterpriest is wounded. After all, Khorne does not care from where the blood flows and all that jazz. That would likely also open up the possibility of some fun interactions with the Soul Feeder gift.
>>
>>82997232
Just convert them. Its not like elves on horses are rare, or like they take the same space as cold one knights

Scourgerunner is crap though, don't bother with that.
>>
>>82997587
Taking away magic dice might be really feelbad for the opponent, since it essentially denies the opponent even an attempt at a magic phase (potentially).
It also makes the prayers worse, since they are now an outlet without a generator.

Having it work on damage taken might be cool, but its also kinda too "free" if you know what I mean. Its a reward for doing nothing, or alternatively it punishes your opponent for killing you.
>>

Hey lads and/or ladettes

Do you have any suggestions for models to use as a base for a Bone Giant? GW's model is iconic but rare and pricy, and I want to put a custom spin on it.

Vampire Counts are my main army, but I just love skeletons so much.

Ungrim's "slayer vow" turns out ot be largely symbolic because being a king supersedes him being a slayer.
>>
>>82996639
>Plus, I'd say that since he's an "outcast" he has more freedom to break the strick rules of the engineers guild
Oh, and he's not an outcast like other slayers. He's a highly respected dwarf king + everyone know it's tradition and that the Slayer Kings are unique in that regard.
>>
>>82998434
Just buy a recast bone giant. You can even find them on ali express from time to time
