Not precisely accurate. You can make precise cuts easier than with metal, as ultimately this plastic is more forgiving of mistakes than metal. I don't think pencil eraser is the correct term either, but it is a hybrid material that has rigidity and slight malleability that is unlike standard GW plastic kits. It has a subtle bend to it, but it isn't boardgame shit tier pvc either.

>Sure thing, shill.
When I got my beyond crimson stone box I was amazed at how wrong you guys were for complaining about gummie eraser material.

This Remote's cleanup took me a fraction of the time that metal demands, without tenderizing my finger tips in the process. I was able to assemble without horrendous gaps, all in one sitting and with less waste material to sweep up after. Thermal plastic is significantly easier to chop up for modifications, and with little more than a sharp knife. Imagine, it doesn't require a razor saw and twenty minutes of intense hacking to change the way an arm bends or to remove a weapon feature to model a new one. No, it took you three measured cuts from your scalpel and some filing; that's it.

Metal is fantastic for detail and model preservation through table use, but absolutely shit for modification and assembly. CB knows this and historically didn't care, that was until cost of materials threatened to pull them under. Now they're innovating a new manufacturing method and have actually produced an alternative solution that satisfies metal detail grogs and converters alike. It's win/win.
>>
>>82955539
I've only had experience with the turret bots that came with Fiddler, although one of them was in two pieces when I opened it the detail was still very much there with very little knife work needed.

Another person at my FLGS just picked up the bear and I got to see that out of the box. It too looked REALLY good. I'm fine with either metal or plastic, they both have ups and downs.
>>
>>82954388
No.
>>
>>82954210
Yeah I guess that's true. Jian is seen as more of "the gentleman's weapon" so of course the units that are shown using melee weapons would use a jian and the Yuan Yuan, a merc would use a dao.
I hope they'd ass some elite unit that uses a Guan Dao though. I think that's also one of the more iconic chinese weapon.
Also, YJ have Sun Tzu, but not Guan Yu who is still worshipped as a deity nowadays.

Utter horseshit. I bought a bear and posted pics weeks ago. The material is incredibly difficult to work with, and just like a pencil eraser leaves little flakes and burrs everywhere you try to clean it up. It took twice as long to clean up as a metal model would and there are details like mold line along the top of the gun that will never look correct.

>and just like a pencil eraser leaves little flakes and burrs everywhere you try to clean it up.
You can't clean these like you can hard plastic or even metal. The burrs occur when you begin to mangle the surface by scraping it with a rough tool. One or multiple tiny pieces of plastic end up still connected to the larger body, and if you do not use a controlled sharp cut, it will "fold" around your blade when it is slivered. This can be mitigated by making fewer cuts and fine sanding after you file an area.

I wish to note, the beautiful thing you can do with thermal plastic is that you can apply a measured and direct heat source in order to melt away the mold lines rather than cut them off. I haven't done so myself yet, but I've heard a soldering iron is the perfect tool for this job, or possibly a woodburning kit (which is the same thing with different tips). I am going to experiment with this technique once I get my Polaris team, as there simply wasn't much work that needed to be done on the remote in the beyond box.
>>
>>82961869
Do these kits come with any sprues that you can test your tools on?
>>
>>82961020

>>

Yes and no. The models got removed, and the fluff has the Exrah Concordat being declared extermination targets by the EI, but the same book (N3 core) added the Commissariat, a different business group who were on a probation period and so only allowed to field their troops against the Concordat. If the Exrah were to come back, the fluff would be that the probation period has ended and the Commissariat's Merc-Operators can join the CA proper.

They've slowly been creeping back into the fluff in varying amounts. The WCS Raxora from the second living campaign was an Exrah ship, the MEgalodron was being moved around by Exrah ships, and the N4 Umbra fluff section is written from the perspective of one Exrah talking to another. And of course they were in the RPG stuff.

>>
>>82992056
as >>82992111 said Ariadna is probably the closest. They are the lowest tech faction and all other factions are all always trying to steal their macguffin metal. Japan is also this in a way with their war against Space China.

Haqq is lower tech in some ways, but also has a huge amount of sway due to controlling the macguffin material that controls resurrection technology. So I wouldn't say they are downtrodden.

It's not a bad model, fits the theme of insects well, and is in line with most models that came out -back then-, and chock full of small detail. Of course, compared to today's models, it's pretty bad, but so is most of the N1-N2 range.

Damn right. When you compare having to manually sculpt a model by hand, and what you can achieve using digital sculpting, the end result is night and day. Machine precision is a thousand times better than human hands.
Suck it.
>>
>>83000766
No, you dumdum. While you could digitally model microscopic details, those
A) aren't reproduced by the printing and casting processes
B) are smaller than the customers want or need.

You can make good models by hand or by CAD, the things where CAD beats hand sculpts and why they're preferred by manufacturers today are speed, flexibility and consistency.

It does have a major design flaw with the torso-abdomen joint. The joining piece is too small for the hole, so you can tilt the torso to either side, but you can only actually assemble the model with it tilted to the left so it can clear the right knee.

I also refuse to believe anybody actually fielded this thing on the 40mm base it comes with, since the hand barely fits on a 55mm one and even CB look to have used a 60mm base on the shop one.

Rules are fine if you actually played. I've done half a dozen tournaments with 8+ people in past year, and no faction or play style has dominated. Way better than the GW, asoiaf, mcp or legion events I attended in the same time frame. Note that the last 2 are so fucked I sold all my shit.

Sculpts are equivalent, some better, some worse. They have always paid homage to characters, and it often makes sense in universe.

Materials is a tough one, but the only Plas I got (rem) wasn't any worse than metals. It definitely wasn't perfect though.

Kickstarter was the only way they can sell those games, no retailer would stock a $100+ game from a no name company.

Fuck off with your no game meme complaints.

Man I don't know. I got into Infinity because of the models true, but it's like, there's supposedly all of huge, and awesome lore that is behind a paywall since the rules themselves are free.

Awesome, so not only is the game super good, the models are wonderful, and the rules are free? Holy shit I gotta get the books and read what the lore is all about!

The lore is fucking boring. The world building is fucking boring. The writing and prose is mediocre at best. The small semi interesting bits of the world, like how Hollow Men are child brains in a tank controlling remote bodies as if they're playing a game, forever stuck in a simulation world.. are lost in a huge muck of boring.

Huge disappointment. The best way I can describe it is, if 40k is primarily about the lore to sell stupid grossly overpowered shit to people who devour the said lore, and the world building is so nice it's instantly recognizable... Then Corvus Belli's Infinity setting is made by a bunch of tourneyfags who have only experience in making game systems and sculpting models.. as writers, as story tellers, as marketers, they fail. There is nothing instantly recognizable or exciting about Infinity, even though there are some amazing sci fi concepts to be explored from the tech to the factions to the wars, but no, they somehow made it all sound and feel boring.
>>
>>83018229
There's always the guy who will explain to you what 40k is by telling you about the fact that it's happening 10k years after the Horus Heresy, oh wait so the Horus Heresy is when the Primarch, oh wait so a Primarch is the spawn of the God Emperor, oh wait so the God Emperor of Mankind is.. and so on, and so on, and so on. Cause like it or not it's interesting, different. Or maybe it was interesting and different at some point.

There is nothing like that with Infinity. No one discusses the intricacies of how Avicenna used to be a famous and powerful arabic philosopher and a genius of medicine who was kidnapped, tortured, detached from ALEPH, brainwashed and turned into a woman just as a 'fuck you' to ALEPH and is now a liberated agent on the run doing mercenary work.
No one will tell you this because no one cares. As with the rest of the lore.
>>
>>83018229

Honestly sounds like you were looking for a reason to criticize Infinity. Because none of that has a basis in what's going on.

What's wrong, anon?
>>
>>83018229

Infinity lore is a hodgepodge of various sci fi tropes. Good stuff is in character stories. Unfortunately for now we just have two manga, so characters like Scarface or Raoul Spector aren't explored beyond their blurbs. I hope at one point CB makes the authors do existing characters rather than letting them invent new ones (Betrayal was a step in the direction).
