Finally got around to reading The Infinite and the Divine and I'm loving it.

>A reprieve for which Trazyn was grateful. The Heresy, after all, demanded his full attention. He even had plans to add a grand tableau of the Battle of Calth– Macragge was not far from Solemnace, giving him easy access to Ultramarines material– and perhaps even the confrontation aboard the Vengeful Spirit. Horus’ body was likely being venerated somewhere in the Eye of Terror, after all, and the Emperor was just sitting there on Terra. Seemed a waste, such a historic figure left to rot like that. Trazyn could do a far better job at preservation and restoration.

Shakshouka, I know it's more of a breakfast think but I quite like it as a supper.
On the food subject though does anyone think about cuisine as part of /your dudes/ fluff? I've been fluffing my Knights as being broadly culturally Bohemian, I figure that Grox would make an acceptable stand in for pork but I'm wondering what extant animals and plants survived the DAOT and beyond. We know horses are still more or less untouched but what if sheep and cows and or even wheat?

>Slow and Purposeful
>Unyielding Spectres- All Legion of the Damned have 3+ invulnerable saves.
>Aid Unlooked For- The unit cannot be joined by Independent Characters. They must start in Deep Strike Reserve, by can re-roll their Deep Strike Scatter (both the scatter dice and 2D6).
>Flaming Projectiles- All ranged attacks by the squad have the Ignores Cover rule.
>No servitors, scouts or conscripts, can’t take Grav-Cannons, or Grav-Guns (only the combi-grav on the sarge) and they don't benefit from Chapter Tactics, in a CAD with Vulkan but Master Craft any Meltas they might have.

This is fine and doesn't really need updating.

I would lock them into a specific detachment that was 0-1 HQ, 1-3 Troops, and give them a rule stating that they can be included in any Imperial Army without breaking any army benefits (like chapter tactics or regimental doctrines) with a CP cost/benefit of 0.

They aren't supposed to be a full fledged army, they are supposed to be reinforcements that suddenly appear for reasons known only to them, usually but not always when an Imperial force is desperately fighting for survival, then just as suddenly they disappear.

I would also release a plastic 10 man squad of Damned Legionnaires with some sort of captain type figure included in the box in a similar style to their previous resin sculpts. Also, I'd be very tempted to release a Ferrus Manus LotD model since it was heavily hinted in Master or Mankind that he was wrecking demon shit with them inside the warp after he was killed (something about a "giant with metal hands swinging a hammer" if I remember right).

A swarm of them with rokkit launchers might be fun. Kinda spendy though.

Outside of that they don't really have options for high strength and no AP, so depending on the army you're fighting you'll probably have a difficult time killing anything.
>>
>>82318680
Vulkan made a custom version of the mark one terminator power armor.
>>

Okay? He may have done so but it does not make it Vulkan pattern. It’s clearly Sarurnine. He just made a special set of Saturnine armor.

I tried playing crusade today following the advice given here. And I think I am doing something wrong. I didn't expect a huge improvement over regular games, but I at least thought it would be fun. Specially as I fully expected to lose. The expiriance was more or less the same as regular games. Then I tried to find another opponent to play crusade and no one wanted to do it, when finaly one person said okey, they didn't let me roll on the tables what happened in the prior games. So I am really not getting how crusade is different from matched play, besides the extra relics etc Which for my factions don't really exist, because I don't play with a GW name chapter. Is there like an extra book or something that makes crusade games more fun, besides what is in the codex ?
>>
>>82318773
Saturnine pattern is a different pattern no one has ever seen but it's said to be similar to indomitus.
The super heavy armour people call "saturnine" doesn't have any official name other than "variant" but it was supposedly created by Vulkan.

For melee poison weapons, does the poison characteristic overwrite the actual strength score of the model?
For example if I had S4 Wracks fighting T3 GEQ would I be able to wound them on 3's? The poison ability says unmodified 4's are always successful but not that ONLY unmodified 4's are successful.
I interpreted that if you have a strength value that would make wounding easier it's still valid.

TL;DW: It's not saturnine or Mk1 terminator armor.
It was made by Vulkan around the Horus Heresy

Longer explonation:
Saturnine pattern does exist but it is contemporary and similiar to Indomitus and Tartaros functionally.
The giant shoulder pauldroned one was something made by Vulkan and it is mentioned accompanied by a illustration in the Shattered legions book, an Iron Hands marine is invited onto a Salamanders transport where he sees these and are deliberately highlighted.
A Salamanders marine then tells the Iron hand Vulkan made the suits.
And like this anon here posted >>82317053 Gav Thorpe himself calls it Nocturne pattern.
But it is just accurate to call it Vulkan pattern since Vulkan himself made the original suits.

Nothing about the Poison rule stops a S4 model from still wounding a T3 model on a wound-roll of a 3. It's just adding the effect of 'If you roll this, you are automatically successful.'

>>82318784
I think the idea for Crusade is that you slowly build up your force over time with a narrative. If you're not going to roleplay then yeah, it's just going to be another matched with extra steps.

>Flaming projectiles ignore cover
That's dumb, you still have to hit with the shot. The reason a flamer ignores cover is that it just sprays into every crack and crevice, still doesn't make sense for some covers but alright as a simplification.

>>82319053

>>
>>82319053
Bit of an abstraction issue, when you shoot you're not necessarily rolling for each shot but rolling to represent a fusilade from your unit. I do think that for flaming, phosphor and so on weapons it should only ignore light cover where vision is obstructed rather than a wall of munitions resistant stuff though

I dunno man, it seems like a very good book series. I'm on Book 5 rn and I've enjoyed the slow detail it takes with every primarch. Its not like it feels slow, it paces itself well, its just...
so fucking looooooong.
As an originally fantasy fan it really annoys me that they went through this detail to tell the story of one of the many moments of note in one faction in 40K, yet the entire End Times of Fantasy just got a few novels and some short stories/armybook campaign narrations.
Thats like telling the entire rise and fall of Rome in a couple books and then detailing the War of the Roses over the course of 30+ books. Its so disproportionate.

Don't worry, Cruddace is confirmed to have worked on the 9e ork codex; which explains stuff like gretchin and runtherd being the way they are as Crud was very proud to point out how he buffed them going into 9e.

It's fine if they put them on something like T7 or T8 vehicles. It's so you can't chip them down with D2 weapons, same as SM dreads.
Putting Ramshackle on literally every vehicle though, including T5 shit like Deffkoptas ensures that whatever you put into them will be inefficient. Do you really want to blow limited S8 shots into them? Your only other option is to spam high S high ap 1d attacks.

Then-new-prototype Anvillus pattern backpacks for improved maneuverability. Anvillus fell to the traitors early on, and Warmaster Horus made sure it was his legions the ones that got the newest prototypes earliest, while loyalists would have to keep the normal stuff

A recurring tidbit thought I don't know how well supported it is is that it allows them to carry more power cells presumably needed power patched up armour using less than ideal materials. Also posited is that it's a form of power pack for use in space/boarding actions and the vents give them more control. Real answer is because it gives them a different silhouette to loyalist marines and any lore justification is arbitrary

Pulse rifles have been bad in every single edition when compared to the pulse rifle. This kinda seems no different. Im not familiar enough to decide if an extra 6 inches is enough for range jokeying in 9th or not. Pulse rifles should have probably just became breacher guns, they look way cooler anyways. Or relegate them to a squad support weapon and bring back rules for their under-slug grenade launcher.

The Hammer and Bolter leak had at least something, namely being removed within minutes of being posted, and it very early on had a unguessable rule with the Black Templar Ap-1 Flamer that gave it a fuck ton of credit, also everything since has been correct so I 100% believe the Hammer and Bolter leak. But the Reddit thread on the Eldar subreddit is just someone writing a bunch of stuff with no substantiation, I'd be very surprised if this was real.
>>

But there is no showing of them being real like the flamer had.
I agree it is still very early but you wouldn't have been smart to automaitcally believe the Hammer and Bolter leak when it came out either, only when stuff started showing would it become logical to believe more and more each time something lines up with it.
The only thing will give this post is that it sounds odd enough for GW to do it, like giving a Swooping Hawk Hierarch but no updated swooping hawks which would be ridiculous.
>>
>>82320234
Moreover, Borkan Sept trait (+6" gun range) + pulse impulsor drone (+6") would mean (if unchanged ofc) that pulse rifles become 48" RF1...aka 2 AP- shots at 24", directly outclassing carbines

My claim is that the Hammer and Bolter leak was deleted minutes after being posted, which is odd if it was fake because why go through all that trouble to think and write so much only to delete it in minutes? That makes it like 5% likely to be real which is more than the Reddit one has, which is less than 1% imo. Because all their good stuff got gimped.
Also it also depends heavily on the terrain you were playing on. Without pics or examples I can't really comment. It could be planet bowling ball for all I know, then of course shooting would be better.
>>

probably not. most people don't know and don't care about the intricacies of your codex unless they play the faction themselves.
>>

Because they're not Custards or Dark Eldar.
>>
>>82320470
Eh DA and SM in general are good at everything, anon. But still melee is more of a hassle than just shooting something. Another example, an Inceptor does at range what a vanguard vet with an axe does in melee. The real comparison ends up being who can get a storm shield, which means the variable isn't damage. It's something else.

Very much so. What, i can only comment if i lose with WS melee instead of BA melee and also win with ranged IF?

Unironically the Death company does good (for now) against custodes, as they wield some 5A thunder hammers that kill custodians on a single unsaved hit, and their W2 FnP6 bodies mean a lucky save wastes an entire attack. I did not believe in FNP 6 until i used death company. Now i do.
>>
>>82320634
>but that isn't canon anymore
why should anyone give a fuck, it's a cool model
>>
>>82320646
Because winning once with a "bad shooting army" isn't an argument, there are a ton of factors that go into it like experience disparity between players, the terrain setup, what army your opponent brought, what your army list looks like.
One game where you don't tell us any variables is not enough to justify "shoot good, melee bad"

Lost against him when using my BA, lost against him when using my BT (before codex), then won with Admech.
I also won AdMech vs daemons, csm and csm again, and also IG vs CSM, but i don't count those because chaos sucks.

As such i have lost 100% of my melee focused matches, and won 100% of my ranged focused matches.

How do people say this shit is good? The animation is worse than season 1 of The Clone Wars and its just too ambitious for its own good

Definitely below BL. The authors of the books are told what they're writing about, what the outcome is and are left to fill in the details (minus some mandated diversity, I'm sure). The vidya is conceptualized as a game first and then an acceptable narrative is placed over top of it.

The T'au Empire is creating replicas of the Dawn Blade to arm their commanders. Melee T'au confirmed.

Who would have thought
>>
>>82321999
Yes really.

The top lists may be similar but there's a reason people also consistently win while others don't. You can be a waacfag with a netlist and be a shit player.
>>
>>82322024
And it isn't them. All of the top lists have been discussed ad nauseam and theorycrafted in public discord community long before they're ever played at a tournament.

Collusion and judge favorability.
>>
>>82321942
What if neither if us are traitors.
What if i play SM vs Custodes...and DO win. The custodes were traitor lmao? I know I'm not traitor: because I say so, and it was the Emperor's will that i won.
But then why did i fought and defeated the custodians? Training exercise?
>>
>>82322050
You could take the entire /40kg/ and have it theorycraft a single list for months and I doubt it would even place.
>>
>>82322021
Oh you're just such a screaming autist that the point flew completely over your head.

It doesnt matter what a faction is like in a perfect vacuum, it's just like communism might technically work in theory. In practice however it falls to shit, just like calling a faction good because of very specific lists that cunts play. This is not math, it's a fucking tier list. Extremely qualitative, and in this case from a really shit perspective
>>
>>82322038
But that's the thing, almost every lore snippet says that life under the Ethereals is also really nice. Only a couple things even hint that there is anything sinister going on and even then it's like "Well, that's fine for them but I prefer not being ruled by them"
>>
>>82322068
You couldn't have been in the right, for the Custodes are the voice of the Emperor.
>>
>>82322050
>And it isn't them.
>what is the Metallica Veteran Cohort list
>what is 9-man Crisis Bomb and Remoras
>what is double Dimacherons

Is that you, lowjakz?

>"ACKNOWLEDGE ME!!!1!1"
Okay, WAACfag. You do 40k wrong and it honestly worsens the hobby on every level because rather than simply staying with an army and mastering it, which would provide a much better view of army balance and player skill, you choose the lamest netlist and play it into the ground until GW is forced to publish errata.
>>
>>82322015
You first
>>
>>82322021
There is a big difference in the meta of a pool of people that all have whatever armies are the most competitive and constantly play against each other in a competitive way while also buying specifically the most competitive models and they all know every army perfectly both theirs and their opponent...
And the average LGS meta.

Their tier list is like saying that a Ferrari is undoubtedly the best car to buy because it goes faster, even if most people use their car to go to work, not to race.
>>
>>82322074
Are you incapable of inferring anything?
>This is not math
That's not what's being stated. The factions aren't being ranked in a 'perfect vacuum'. How would they be rated in a tiered list if they were? Wipe your chin.
>>
>>82322034
No one cares about whatever cringe video game this is
>>
>>82322126
Because tier lists never apply to a local meta.
The guy asked for a tier list, and one was provided.
>>
>>82322122
Literally who?
>google it
Oh fuck guys redditors are here. No wonder they love WAACfaggotry.
>>
>>82322130
>The factions aren't being ranked in a 'perfect vacuum'.
Yes they are.

They're being rated as if piloted by a very skilled player with unlimited funds playing specific lists. Again, clearly far over your head. Dont reply to me again, it's boring.
>>
>>82321996
>Tau are bullshit Mary Stu cunts and nobody can ever convince me otherwise.
You have to look between the lines: it's all lies. Literally like Starship Troopers: it's a satire even if the creator himself doesn't know it is. Even if that future is actually a nice one: the satire is better than real life, apparently.
In the tau's case, there are Tau who suffer. They are silenced and forced back into compliancy due to mental control. We have seen instances of Tau ordered to kill themselves.
As for the resources, the other races are """kind""" enough to work for the Tau, for the greater good.
The vespids were "gifted" with "communications helmets" (fucking mind control) and now they mine radioactive material for the Tau. Luckily they are "almost" immune to the lethal emanations. Same for Ion weapons that can kill the wielders. But these are "rare" events, and our brave and totally not hypno indoctrinated Fire caste is more than willing to sacrifice for the cause!
You heard it from our Ethereal Supreme AunVa, who is totally alive and most certainly not a fucking VTuber :D
>Even their rebellious splinter group is somehow even MORE super nice and noble with zero consequences.
This. Farsight is unironically the only 100% good faction in the entire setting
>>
>>82322124
I don't have any idea who you are talking about, I have 13k points of Necrons and I have played them since 5th edition.

I am just calling you a retard if you don't think that people have different skill level in this game independently of how waacfag they are.
>>
>>82322153
>Farsight is unironically the only 100% good faction in the entire setting
this
>>
>>82322139
And the comment that sparked the debate wasn't that that tier list is invalid, it was that it's retarded to pay attention to it when you are not a very specific kind of player.
>>
>>82322183
Their tier list isn't even accurate. Guard aren't as bad as Tau, GSC, or Chaos, and are definitely in a better spot than Craftworlds or Fists (multiple times during the stream they place things because "this beats that" but ignore it for armies they blatantly don't understand). Even Nick disagrees multiple times during the video with various placements and then just gets steamrolled.
>>
>>82322148
>thinks a baseline assumption is equatable to a vacuum
>>
>>82322183
So what would your tierlist look like, then?
Hell, the list doesn’t factor in unlimited funds because some armies cost far more than others and are still extremely disparagable in power (Grey Knights are super cheap and are one of the best armies in the game, GSC are one of the most expensive armies in the game, and everyone agrees they are objectively dogshit)
>>
>>82322219
>Guard aren't as bad as Tau
Tau have gotten at least two tournament placings.
>better spot than craftworlds
Craftworlds are used in souping and have gotten top placings
>>
>>82322256
Their primary logic was literally to place most things by what they can beat, and Guard smash half of the tier ahead of them. No idea why you're coping for some e-celebs who clearly don't even understand certain armies.
>>
>>82322223
A tier list of how easy an army is to play to achieve decently would be a hundred percent more useful than that one that shows how much tournament placing you get while playing extremely skewed lists or souping with other stronger armies.
>>
>>82322222
witnessed but waste
>>
>>82322302
If they were including soup GSC would be up there with nids.

>>82322319
I didn't ask for these digits.
>>
>>82322289
>and Guard smash half of the tier ahead of them
lmfao imagine actually believing this
>>
>>82322331
>If they were including soup GSC would be up there with nids.
They’re only being taken for blips to screen out.
Rumors are that blips are going bye bye.
>>
>>82322338
Guard beat Fists, Raven Guard, Eldar, and Daemons handily. You're a fucking joke.
>>
>>82322404
>guard beat daemons handily
>can do literally nothing vs. Be’lakor
>guard have a 42% winrate vs. Craftworlds
>they have a chance against the literal bottom of the barrel space marine factions that still have a higher overall winrate
>>
>>82318710
>I always play my favorite subfaction regardless of whether or not they suck.
sure, but I asked what your favourite subfaction is that you don't play, not why you wouldn't play your subfaction
eg my favourite subfactions are Alpha Legion and Red Corsairs, so I play both of those as well as several others so I mentioned Word Bearers since they're one of the few Legions I like that I don't play
>>
>>82322510
Winrate doesn't matter. The potential for a good general to win with them matters.
>>
>>82322933
>the statistics don't matter, my ass backwards logic however...
>>
>>82322933
>The potential for a good general to win with them matters.
And that’s why Guard are bottom tier
