Both look like trash.
>>81691657Both are nerds
Which army should I choose if I want to have the maximum % points of marines from the standard GW plastic marine kit with forge world chapter parts added on obv?Am buying recast dreadnoughts so that's not a problem
>>81692114TSons, TPC sells the Sekhmet upgrade kit separately so you can even have mostly plastic Sekhmets if you like
>>81692250>TPCMaybe if you wanted to wait months for sub FW models
>>81692370There's probably other recasters that sell it separately too if you don't like em
>>81692114RG/AL. Get CSM beakies, FW bolters and loyalist tac squad arms, and upgrade pack heads and shoulder pads. Of course, other legions can be made in that way too.
why is 30k grimdark and 40k bright and optimistic, shouldn't it be the other way around?
>>81686043Alternative take would be spooky Keys of Hel Iron Hands.
>>81692785>grimdarkAlways was.Things went to shit the second Horus turned traitor and all hope of a bright future went to the shitter.
>>81692114Late heresy Sons of Horus or word bearers, use the csm tac squad kit as a base with fw pads and heads. You should pick based on lore and playing style tho
>>81692785>40k bright and optimisticI don't think you have been paying attention.I get it, you are trying to stunt because it's the 30k thread, I know.40k has shed the 90s style grimdark presentation (that 30k NEVER did) for a 'Lurking Shadow' approach: Things are stable right now, but who knows what is going to happen next? Set pieces like Vigilus and Octavious figure in to the new approach.
>>81692930Tbf, I get the impression most Heresy players don't actually follow what's happening in the 40k lore and just go "primaris bad kek".
>>81692930>Things are stable right now, but who knows what is going to happen next? Set pieces like Vigilus and Octavious figure in to the new approach.Say what you like, post 5th edition 40k is just a sad comedy of what it was before. Also 40k was truly grimdark/derp till the 4th edition. Modern 40k (end of 7th+) is just a sludge for retards.
>>81693058Because mayby they don't enjoy 40k and avoiding it is deliberate and intentional? Give it a thought bro.
>>8169305840k having advancing "lore" rather than just being a setting is gay, Though I guess you look forward to the next epic event like you do the next marvel movie. And primaris are bad, kek.
Can one of you fine gentlemen update me if there's been anything new with those leaked MK6 images? I never knew what became of all that, or if they're actually scaling up 30k minis or what the deal is .... before I start a new project, ya know?
>>81694772No, there hasn't been anything. If you're waiting for this new box to come about before starting an army, you'll probably be waiting a long time, if it ever does come out.
>>81694772That was an unapproved leak so they had to kill it. Sorry anon, no mk VI squads or plastic spartan for you.
>>81694772i’m expecting it to be revealed on the 30th
>>81694772why would you post that abomination?
>>81694894>>81694932>>81694941I'm mostly just checking if I missed something glaring ... been very removed for a few months. I'm going to just start my new project. Thanks anons>>81695114to bother you, specifically
>>8169313040k might claim to be "advancing" the lore, but in actuality nothing seems to happen. Not a single notable named character has died, and nothing really seems to shift much. Even Cadia being blown up had no impact whatsoever, Cadians are still the main IG protagonists and just carrying on doing their thing like nothing fucking happened.
>>81692114Ultramarines, pick legs with rounded pads and torsos with cables.Add FW heads.
>>81693058Most Heresy players don't follow what's happening in the Heresy either.
>>81695724It's hard to blame them. I also had to quit reading the HH novels from BL for a while, there's so much trash it gets depressing and it put me off from progressing with my 30k army.

I hate monopose crap so much. Bought a DA praetor to convert into a biker praetor, but turns out the head and sword are really the only things i can use because the torso and legs are one piece. Guess I shoulda checked before hand but it's really lame.
>>81697177Impulsor. Primarines are too good to use those filthy classic marine vehicles as transports according to GW>As a reminder, this is what the Kayvaan Shrike model looked like before crossing the Rubricoom

>>81695614Eldrad Ulthran came back to life sometime around 5th, then they redid the 3E Eye of Terror campaign with permanent effects instead. It's progress of a kind.
>>81698456Fuck those, get one of the Japanese woodworking razor saws, they’re frighteningly sharp though. Being able to cut clean through without a backing is nice and they’re flexible so you can get into small spaces nicely.
>>81698545It’s WB anon, he lives in Russia and hates life and happiness. He goes on 4chan and sees how much happier the rest of the world is and freaks the fuck out every thread. Just ignore him and move on.
Here they are. The paint is horrendously thick (not as awful as the first go over, but still bad) and they look like shit but they’re painted. AND! I now know exactly what I’ll be doing for the next ones and won’t have to redo so many coats. Maybe by the time I eat through 30 more of these, 10 deathsworn, and a bunch of drop pods I’ll be ready to paint a character. I do need advice on how to do the weapons though. Do I do black and then highlight with a lighter black or should I do a metal style? Or a blue highlight? Idk.
>>81700362You're not leaving the bases that colour are you? the marines blend right into them. Snow bases would be a perfect choice, and you can make snow with white paint, pva, and bicarbonate of soda.
>>81700261Are those swas folded 5689000 times like katana?
>>81700490Yes, grorious nippon steel cut cheap chankoro resin like butter.
>>81700480I had a half a bottle of this GW basing crap so I stuck it on, in the past I’ve always just done clean black bases. I was debating between sand or snow.
>>81700564>in the past I’ve always just done clean black bases.
>>817003942 thin coats =/= 10 thin coats. I have so many layers of paint on there from either not being able to get the colour I wanted or fucking something up. The sgt in particular has been completely painted over three times now. The face plates have at least five coats each because I couldn’t decide on a gold/bronze. Regardless, I’ve got one squad done and now I have a coherent plan for the next one that only takes two coats and a wash for the armour, and two more and a wash for the golds and/or bronzes. The casts are dogs hit anyways since FW never did a great job with the MkII in the first place and they’re shitty recasts, but I should be able to do my next ones with little enough paint that they don’t look like they’re being virus bombed.
>>81700659No ones reading this, sorry.Just thin your paint, lmao.
>>81700659Okay but why would you do this?
>>81700564why not add some kino snow effect?
>>81698764This is like 1000 monkeys typing until they produce a 4chan post.
>>81701167That's true though. And his death (and entire loyalist deployment) at Istvaan was a testament to that..
>>81695614Well, yes, exactly, which is why "advancing plot" is retarded and people who want it are idiots - GW isn't going to do anything that would fundamentally shift the status quo in terms of selling miniatures, so the only kind of "plot" they can do is the shallowest of Saturday Morning Cartoons, where one side always stops just short of beating another and the main characters of the "losing" side just sidle off into the background with a "Curse you, [insert faction], you've won this round, but one day we shall return! Nyaaaaaahahahah!".
>>81698259you are gonna need bigger and deeper stiches for the skin because your current oens won't be seen after you paint them. as for the skull: pic rel. spook on, anon.
>>81701267Theres no way he could have known that there were traitors within the "loyalists" and the point there is that he was overly emotional so the opposite of autism.
>>81701421I think the stitching will be visible when I paint but if not I might paint a visible "thread"If I went any deeper into the greenstuff while sculpting the stitching I think I would be separating the pieces too much since I made the skin flaps relatively thin to be in scale. That skull tutorial looks really handy though, I'll give that a try next time.
>>81701519Ok so entire logistics, strategy and tactics to be more pedantic. Ferrus was burning with rage and didn't even wait for majority of his legion. Entire battle on part of IH led by Ferrus was basically just pushing forward without coordination with RG and Sals. Yes, he couldn't have known about the big suprise but until they have arrived he has shown that his own iron doctrines of warfare mean nothing when Ferrus angry, Ferrus smash.

>>81701665No that's Perty, Ferrus only lost his shit cause Horus and Fulgrim turned traitor.
>>81693058Primaris are bad
>>81697539Literally all of them are trash except mephiston, calgar is the worst out of them all.
>>81702389>Ferrus only lost his shitI mean, most people go mental when they find out their significant other has been sleeping around
>>81697749Primaris players are all turbo fags.
>>81693058Most of the people I play with (and myself) got into Heresy because we got fed up with 40k. We don't know what's happening any more because we're actively avoiding it.
>>81695819Calgar, shrike, and the white scars guy are the biggest downgrades of all. Mephiston and Blackmane's models were so old and shit that even the primaris shit is an improvement.
>>81700362Brah chuck those hams on some contrasting bases (Snow, Sand or marble) and they will 100% be table worthy. Gj anon you are getting better ever time.

>>81700287Are you still mad, BAfag? Nobody's forcing you to play houserules if you don't like them. Really, pump down.
>>81701665Nope, anon is right. He was an emo faggot, it's arguably more disruptive than autism.
>>81701661Not really larger, just bulkier. It's because of mk3 and all the extra fat plating, older models have the same discrepancy between this armour and every other one.
>>81702907I can agree on the BA, but only because he's easy to salvage. Ragnar doesn't have robes to hide the ugly body, so you'll have to redo it all with cutting, filing and resculpting his entire suit. At this point it's easier to kitbash him from grey hunters, the good SW upgrade sprue and maybe some ass marine bits like legs and arms.
>>81702389nope, i’m right and you’re wrong :3 sorry for your loss
>>81703503Nice anon. Also does titanicus have rules for Imperator titans, or is everyone using homebrewed rules?
>>81703640there are no rules, nor are there homebrew rules
>>81703647So how to you run them?
>>81703751Man I can barely even haul my ass to the shop to shop much less play

>>81703875Aren't all Imperator Titans individual creations?
>>81697257Tbh, fucking retard, glad he got a new design
>>81702360I want to say it was because I was lazy, which is part of it, but really it’s because I can’t stand painting. I suspect by the time I had stripped and redone them the four tries to get what I wanted (I did strip the first attempt which was thicker than all these combined) I would have just gone back to not painting them for another week. To actually get this done at any point in the foreseeable future I just have to make myself power through it until I can actually be remotely happy with what I produce. I am a realistic man, not a willful one. Pic related is the original coat *shudder*
>>81703503Sexy AF. You should do something with the plasma gun on one of them though, they look beautifully individualistic right now but the plasma gun cuts that look a lot. Idk if it’s the right size but I’d grab a recast sicaran omega turret and use one of those on one of them. Not only would the omega finally have someone use one but it would give it that “artificer” look.
>>81701392That's because GW can't into writing campaign books, and also can't into having their main characters teleport around and have slap fights for marketting points.
Going through HH audiobooks in order, I just got started on Know No Fear, which I gather to be one of the most well-liked. Glancing at the dramatis personae, however, I see that it lists more characters than any other novel so far, most of them Ultramarines, and the first several chapters jumped between a bunch of different establishing viewpoints. Is this going to be like most novels in which just a handful of the listed characters are especially relevant, or is it significantly harder to keep track of all the names getting thrown around? I'm thinking perhaps I might be better off reading the text than listening in this case to remember who's who.
When the new box set comes out, what legion will you paint your beakies as?I'm thinking iron warriors
>>81705926>new boxed setAs if manlets will ever be made in large quantities again. I'm telling you it's Primaris all the time now. When was the last time a non character/hq manlet was released? Years anon, it's been years. Most funny thing is thinking plastic MkV or MK II will ever be a thing. You manlets will be removed once Cawl is written in and primaris is there giving manlets the thunderwarrior treatment for the heresy.
I did the lascutter also. Now I have enough melee weapons to equip each of my warlords with at least one melee tool.
>>81704958from the side the plasma guns are different sizes but they're still quite similar mostly because it was too expensive to get an alternate.

>>81706679What printer do you use? I think I’m finally gonna bite the bullet and get one. >>81710787You can pull some real bullshit with The Steel Fist and enough ICs with Ironwing because of the wording, plus you get access to Spartans for any 15+ Infantry blob. The only thing that prevents real bullshit with a 4++ Thunderhawk or 2++ Stormbird is that you'd have to embark all your dudes on it in game time, but even a 4++ Spartan with 10 Terminators in it sounds like hell to deal with. The only thing stopping a 2++ Spartan from happening is the difficulty of getting 5 Ironwing ICs together - since Apothecaries don't count. It's literally You Won't Play Me: The List.In fact with the Stormbird I'm not sure there's anything stopping your HQ Ironwing dudes being embarked on a Rhino on the Stormbird to meet Rite requirements and getting out of the Rhino but remaining inside the Stormbird on turn 1, turning into the Fuck Around And Find Out Blimp. It's not the best platform, but 2++ with Orbital Strikes, six fuck-you missiles and a reasonably large number of tl lascannon ain't bad. Might even kill a small titan.

>>81714768>Why a psyker is summoning a fucking blood letter?>"By the power of His armies, both of warriors armed with blade and bolter and those armed with stylus and picter unit, the Emperor sought to erase all trace of the Daemon and its power, to bury the legends and fears of Old Night beneath the burdensome weight of His Truth.""These creatures were a new and unknown curse upon the galaxy, no codex or archive held any mention of them, for the Emperor had seen to their destruction or concealment.">"In terms of the narrative of the Horus Heresy, this helps to reinforce the idea that Daemons are still a great unknown, undefined and strange to the warriors of the Imperium, as opposed to the more clearly defined and understood menace they represent in later millennia."
>>81705742The former. Without spoiling the plot, half of the various Ultramarine characters basically end up in one of two groups, so you don't need to worry about struggling to understand where they all are or what they're up to. And most of the other half you won't need to worry about at all (you'll understand when you listen).I'd really recommend the audio book, the narrator does a fantastic job, and it's paced in a way that really works as an audiobook.
>>81714948Yes, I'm sure that the sculptor studied all the pros and cons and weighted for and against of sculpting a bloodletter. After days of deliberation and fluff consultation he chose a bloodletter.Or he just did a fucking thing because he thought it looks magical and didn't give a shit about particulars like, how retarded it is for him to produce a fire fart bloodletter. What do you think?
>>81715066Bloodletter is an easily recognizable design to convey both "yup, that's a daemon" and "yup, that's a demon."
>>81714948There’s also the whole thing of the thousand sons having deamon familiars. They saw them just as warp entities without the knowledge of how trielt malevolent they are. The entire concept of deamons being a counterpart to sentience was hidden. The few that could access the warp saw them just like they would see any other xenos, ignorant of how the deamons saw them.

They can deal with aircrafts and medium armour + dreadnoughts very reliably and can be used to chip away at termies and other 2+ infantry. Problem is that a) they are expensive b) arrive turn 2+ c) that's two of your FA slots spent. Personally I wouldn't take two but would diverisfy with lightning or storm eagle for multi tasking.
>>81716824Personally I don't like Lightnings, they don't have a marine pilot but just some servitor or something.
>>81715353Unknown to the Imperium, retard.
>>81716843I get it but was looking from a game perspective. Lightnig is highly customizable, that's why I mentioned it. Nevertheless I wish FW did some another astartes fighter with options.
>>81716843>doesn't give all his flyers battle servitorsTo me it makes more sense than having a marine pilot such vehicles. They're more expendable than large ships (which would also benefit from servitor helpers manning turrets and secondary functions with marines having the command). Ground vehicles are a bit of a different thing, as they're less indirectly contributing to the battle. A plane would just maintain air superiority and do strafing runs on ground targets. A rhino is in the thick of it, so their enhanced combat abilities come more into play, and if disabled, the crew can dismount and engage on foot.
>>81717113Not really. Battle servitors are doctrine programmed and will answear X with options Y Z or V when their cogiatator brain calculates what action is optimal. Doctrines are limited by definition btw. Marine pilot brings human factor to the fight and is obviously a better pilot. Also he can analyze in abstract unlike battle servitor and can prioritize and evaluate targets better than machine.
>>81717224Marine pilots make sense in 30k, where legions are stand alone armies numbering in their hundreds of thousands. In 40k where marines are small units of 1k or less, using them as pilots and drivers seems like a massive waste.
>>81717113>not having a praetor level commander personally piloting your fragile interceptor ready to eject and engage on foot when shot down do you even laugh when you kill, bro?
>>81717272They use battle servitors in 40k (pre 7th lore, don't care what's after) for tonks and flyers if the area they operate is not a high intensity battle. In this case they use astartes pilots/drivers becasue they are just better.
>>81717311>ready to ejectWhat if he's hit less conviniently and can't eject?
>>81717224>A Flyer may replace their human crew with hard-wired servitor control and dedicated cogitator targeting arrays, designed to identify and target weak spots on enemy vehicles. This upgrade gives the Flyer the Tank Hunters special rule.Seems like an improvement to me.
>>81717311Better yet, stick two praetor-grade aces in starfighters. Every space ace needs a buddy.
>>81717334>Translation: "We don't want to put non-Marines into our Marine armies, so pretend they exist, if you want to, but on the board it's all Marines all the time."
>>81717334>>81717272the lore from the Xiphon is that it's capable of turns that would knock out a human pilot with excessive g-force, and while "why not drones" is kind of answered by "men of iron tabbouleh", the Hunter tank fires missiles loaded with servitor skulls that explicitly use their dim consciousness to commit honourable seppuku, so if you imagine a Xiphon being capable of more insane maneuvres than a tracking missile loaded with a human skull and brain, then that's why they use marine pilots allegedlyalso not 100% that Battle Servitors replaces the marine pilots (guess it's kind of up to you to model it) so much as it gives the marine pilots a backup that's capable of taking over when he does something so insane that it even knocks him outit's not real clear what a servitor can go through and retain consciousness, but with the brain implants presumably a lot
>>81717374>their human crew
>>81716361That's a really good print of a great STL, some anons are jelly because they don't have a printer, haven't seen actual good prints, or are luddites.
>>81717419Before they were added to Marine arsenal, they used cybered up humans to pilot them who could handle the forces. If you need more cognitive pilot, just cyber up some legion serf. They can have the sapient decision making while benefiting from enhanced durability and enhanced cognitive abilities.
>>81716468>>81714857the transport version seems like the sort of thing it would be easier to kitbash from a Stormraven, effectively all you'd be doing is extending the engines and superstructure, mostly plasticard and greebling, maybe some wire wrapped around tubes or dowel for those heat sinks over the turbinesalso on the print there's no way those front turbines aren't melting anything with less than AV14 ceramite, that's not a good placement: on the Thawk transporter the rear engines are lower (because Thawks are like that anyway) and the front engines are higher (and I'm still not convinced they'd do anything but choke the rear intakes on a climb)if anything both should be reinventing their base patterns with a trijet design, since neither has a top cannon to interfere with airflow (which they need at least some of the time or why turbines?) or even a Stormbird quad-rear arrangement, but at the very least I'd move the Storm Eagle's fronts up to the roofline - then they're up where they're not going to incinerate the tanks on a bank or the struts like all the time, and it's in-line with the Thawk transporter's design, which *clearly* works somehowanyway this is a game about a magical man who gets everything wrong and ruins the galaxy
>>81717396>"Khan Jukhalak...">"Yes, Khan Soujia?">"I have a need...FOR SPEED!!!">"KHAGAAAAAN!"
>>81717477>same BS as marines>no negative effects on performance>tank hunterIf servitor pilots are worse, what excuse do the marines for not being better?
>>81717501>They can have the sapient decision making while benefiting from enhanced durability and enhanced cognitive abilities.Ok, but astartes beat even that. Their thought process and though-action interval is far shorter than that of even augmented human.
>>81717548>W1 marines>W1 techthralls>"superhuman kek"begone
>>81717582Which is why they use marines to make the best, most powerful cogitators. Oh, wait... Also, did people just completely forgot all the stories where land raiders with their machine spirits kept fighting after the crew was dead, even tricking the enemy. Or survive for years alone, doing power management and maneuvers to get clear before calling home to get picked up?
>>81717704Oh wiat...how many examples can you find? 2? 3? They were mentioned because they were exceptional and singular not because they were the norm. Also you're talking about vehicles equiped with Machine Spirit (the true ones not the "machine spirits" of Mechanicum faith) which are rare even by Heresy standards. Not ot mention that it's a murky area because they are close to/partially IA. It's not the same as a battle servitor bro.
>>81717846>which are rare even by Heresy standardsWhich is why they're an upgrade to every other Marine vehicle. And it's still a brain in a jar, which is suppose to be stupid and only capable of following simple commands.>It's not the same as a battle servitor bro.And a battle servitor is not the same as a techmarine's servitor. Point is they can make cybernetic brains capable of cognitive thinking, creativity and decision making.
>>81717928Well most marines don't fully trust techmarines, being part of the machine cult and all that. So who do you thing your average joe marine would trust more steering a chapter's vehicle, an honourable battle brother, or some lobotomized failed aspirant or criminal that has been programmed by that weird nerd the techmarine?

>>81717928>Point is they can make cybernetic brains capable of cognitive thinking, creativity and decision makingSure you can, but they are still inferior in many combat related circumstances. Like picking a coorect target from a squadron. And by correct I mean many different variables that can change in a few seconds. Also as mentioned before, target priority - servitor will have an assigned role with no big particulars (that's how combat sevitors work anyway) and they will operate within that role (such as "air superiority: sector XP 45, Priority: fighter crafts" but will not make other decisions themselves. Marines/humans can.

>>81718620Him being evil is irrelevant to the shitty alignment system. If you are in the kingdom of an evil king you still have to follow his laws to be Lawful. They could be evil laws but they are the law. If the WB were the political structure of the imperium as a whole then yes they would be lawful. But according to D&D style alignments they aren't, outside of their own perspective. But you have to look at the perspective as a whole. The emperor rules the fledgling imperium, his law dictates what would be lawful. Also summoning daemons is never a 'good' action in any alignment. If you want to say Neverborne are just the embodiment of emotion, then you would have to look at their actions to determine if they are good or evil.
