"Our crops whither, by Sigmar! How are we to feed our kin if we cannot reap the harvest nor receive the bounty of the woods? That thing is in there, and you lot don't even heed us! A beast, I says. A great terror, furred and fanged. I ain't seen any like it round these parts in all my seasons. Corpses found in the woods, when folk would dare to trespass them, that is. We bar our doors at night in fear and tremble together till morn comes round again. The livestock is gone. Rent asunder by claws and teeth. I ain't seen a massacre like that in me life. The sounds that night were hellish. Them poor souls. Not to mention the roots! Seems like the corpses we put in the ground from starvation come back to haunt us. Twisted and gnarled. We've even tried to lash them to their graves! The watch has to put down so many a night. I tell you, here in your little city you ain't got nary to fear. Your walls keep you safe, and so do them chosen by Sigmar. Out there we ain't got nothing but one another and even that is dwindling. They sent me here to beg for help, which is exactly what I'm doing."

Yes, because literally no one does it. Here, let's make it more gimmicky. Four Magmadroths and a Kraken-Eater.
>>
>>81286652
Full Extremis list now that dracothian guard are battleline.
>>
>>81286891
The voice is a little off, it wavers between ye olde timey and straight up yokel. "Cannot reap the harvest nor receive the bounty" vs "round these parts". "a great terror, furred and fanged" vs "I ain't seen a massacre like that in me life"
And at times it dips out completely and it just sounds like normal modern English. "Not to mention", "which is exactly what I'm doing"
I'd also question the use of the term "the watch". A city has a watch, as in an organization of people who do that as their job. A small town would have a watch as in a duty that is fulfilled by able-bodied adults as the need arises. So this olde timey yokel wouldn't refer to "the watch" as it's own entity because in his experience it's not a separate entity.
>>
>>81286944
Ah damn, can only do 5 behemoths if they are all magamdroths. So 5 Magmadroths.
>>
>>81286944
>dracothian guard
Why does no one do it? You've only got the three models in your army, and Magmadroths can be three different things already so you'd only have one repeated unit.
>>
>>81287009
Because Magmadroths are shit for the cost. It's good to have like one sometimes, MAYBE two. But anymore and you're just not gonna have enough other shit like battlesmiths and HGB which are better.
>>
>>81287009
>dracothian guard
>why does no one do it?
They got a little left behind but honestly they're still pretty solid and now that they count as battleline they're very useful.

A gimmick list I wanna play is clan eshin that blocks your opponent in their deployment zone.

Clan eshin can pregame move and move in their turn get up against the opponents deployment zone. Gnawholes are impassable terrain so you can use them to further block the deployment zone. Shackles can prevent the change into your units. The vermin lord deceiver can turn any terrain into a gnawholes for a turn trapping any unit inside.

Basically you screen them off score with your board control.

mantic has these guys - don't be fooled by the store pictures they do have parts to make them look less sci-fi. There are a couple of examples in the army shots for the KoW army bundle deals

I think Stormcast are going to do pretty well by stacking the dragon riders with Judicators dishing out Mortal Wounds. Warclans on the other hand I think are going to be kinda garbage, since Kruleboyz are a fishing for 6's army instead of being actually good. Ironjawz probably got off the best of everyone in that book, being relatively unchanged and Bonesplitters got gutted. Big Waagh might be decent though.
>traits and relics
A bit bland, like everyone else in this edition it seems.
>lore
Seems pretty good from what I have seen, though we don't have confirmation yet if there's Kruleboyz outside of Ghur.
>whatever else
If there's something I really don't like about these new books, is how many abilities and rules got removed, with nothing to replace them. Command Abilities on heroes being gone in favour of buffing the core book ones really sucks and takes the flavour of armies away. I'm personally really worried about some future releases, like Nighthaunt, due to how much was removed.
>>
>>81288768
With all the Destruction vs Chaos stuff being set up, I kinda wanna see Kragnos vs Archaon now.

Though we both know it'd end with Kragnos being mauled horribly, because the plot cares way more about Archaon than it does about Kragnos
>>
>>81288821
That implies anyone cares about Kragnos.
>>
>>81288821
Gordrakk goes to fight in Eightpoint. Kragnos stays with the main plot in Ghur

>>
>>81289211
They have a good magic lore, but Mouth of Mork is pretty mediocre and the swamp caller is alright. Point in case though, is there's nothing really fun or thematic about Kruleboyz. Best thing they have is the Dirty Tricks.
>>
>>81288795
>we don't have confirmation yet if there's Kruleboyz outside of Ghur.

I hope Cabalists gets changed to dealing d3mw instead of killing d3 models
OWC got the cabalists ability but dealing MWs instead of slain models (d3 MW, +1 to cast for each wound dealt)

That way I can use a gaunt summoner and have him summon Furies as a battery for him all game, as its 12 wounds for him to eat

i like the concept of "something creepier and older than the slave traders settling recently in the swamp claiming its land back"

improved with the 3rd core rules a bit tho

>>81289212

>Autreus Allastor, former Grand Duke of Hegerana turned Retributor of the Tempest Lords, is separated from his chamber while battling the armies of the bloodthirsty Red Palatines. Upon wandering the Xintilian desert, he discovers the last of his former subjects, forced from their homes by the Palatines and barely scraping an existence. Rather than seeking to return to his Stormhost, Autreus begins to dwell amongst the mortals, assisting in their gruelling labour. Over the course of several months, he not only earns their trust and hones their warrior skills but also reminds them of their proud heritage. Eventually, Autreus sends a band of riders to the nearest free city with a message before leading his people in a surprise march on the Palatines' fortress. Though Autreus does not survive the ensuing battle, his soul eviscerated by the cursed axes of the Khornates, his warriors succeed in blowing open the Bloodbound's defences – just in time for a Harbinger chamber of the Tempest Lords and cavalry dispatched from the city of Settler's Gain to arrive and finally end the Red Palatines.

Squig Parade List: I've gotta run every single squig unit, including the Squigapalooza, the Colossal Squig, and the Squig Gobba. >lmao jk it's "living city" and bad to the point of not being enjoyable especially since literally nothing about cities of shitmar appeals to me
I feel like I want to start another army, but nothing really speaks to me. It's especially frustrating because I like this edition, but I can't get behind the armies I have. Even beyond the tree memes for sylvaneth? There's other things I'd need to buy like a warsong Revenant and the passion is gone, especially with the constant FAQs ruining shit. I like morathi and the lore going on, but the army is a boring slog to play. The wanderers are just leftover wood elves with sisters of the watch thrown in because silly me for expecting a proper army once upon a time. To be honest, they're just waiting ToW at this point.
The rest of armies, man idk. Chaos has no appeal and neither does destruction. Death is meh. Nighthaunt are cool. I played them for awhile but sold them to a friend who wanted into the game, but I don't think I could bring myself to buy that army from the group up again now that all the cheap Soul Wars shit is gone.

Slightly off topic, but I remember to this day a certain "hardcore" video game community. It was for like, Age of Mythology or something, a silly RTS game that was never particularly balanced or trying to be.

Anyway, the hardcore competitive types had their own little secret forum aside from the dev one, and one day they proudly rolled out their list of demands for the AoM devs that they'd been working on for weeks and making sure all their little waac minds were in agreement.

It was, not even shitting you, "Every army should be exactly the same, just with different aesthetics, because that's balanced, and all the UI etc needs to be as primitive as possible blah blah blah"

I keep that memory close, not because it's important, but because it reminds me of why I fucking hate Tourney-Fags and their secret desires.
>>
>>81290847
Honestly, I have seen more crying about Battalions being removed from tourneyfags than others. I highly doubt tournament play is the reason they removed them.
>>
>The Big Yellers prize loud noise over stealth and riotous colour over subtle intimidation. Why hide away when they are clearly the best and brightest of all orrukdom? True predators are loud and proud, strutting their stuff and letting the prey run in terror before them. There is a nugget of truth to this maxim, just as there is to the warclan's airy claims that they are masters of deadly machines. Originating from Ayadah in the Realm of Metal, they have close ties with Skrappa Spill, and they boast more Deffspikerz than any other warclan. They consider themselves the best shots of all orruk-kind and tell each other that they can even out-shoot the sky-stunties of the Spiral Crux if needed, which is patently untrue.
They're noted to be the laziest of orruks, to the point where they tend to launch waaaghs downriver if possible, so they can avoid walking.
>>
>>81290866
I think they removed them because dropping as 1 and giving an artifact was already so strong sometimes that the effect didn't matter, and that made them incredibly hard to balance. It also forced people to take certain models in the wrong way, which made it harder to just buy a new box of models to run them in your army
>>
>>81290347
Same thing anon, such a good model

It would almost certainly have to be a narrative play game, but I would love to run Nagash and all five Mortarchs together, with maybe one or two squads from each of their respective armies. The Death cast are my favorite characters in all of AoS, so seeing them all on the table at once has been something of a dream scenario for me, even if I suspect it wouldn’t be very powerful.
>>
>>81290821
Kind of.

They make you close in the best season and let you open in the worst seasons, so many restaurants and bars have financial problems now. Also, unless you have a garden of some sort, half of your customers won't have the pass and you can't have them.
Not that many people care, but in Italy there an absurd overlegislation and overburocracy, so basically every single business in Italy is illegal somehow because there too many laws that contradict each others, and tribunals take absurd amount of time to resolve any controvercies.
That is made so police and politicians can force to close and/or fine everybody they want, and they do want to.

All supplies here were forced to throw away millions of euros of expire products, so they are in debt now, transports didn't work because of that, and Banks won't help because the Government clearly stated on TV that they want small businesses to fail, so they won't invest and give loans because it's not safe.

Personally, my biggest issue with battalions is that they didn't really replace them with anything. All those cool flavorful battalions that existed mostly to buff non-meta units didn't get rolled into those models warscrolls or subfactions, if anything they seem to be nerfing bad units even more by removing the few warscroll abilities they already had.

Likewise big battalions that massively reduce drops still exist, they literally just added two of them for STD, and they already overshadow every other type of battalion, because reducing drops is always better than "use x command ability once for free".

Yeah, lets talk about removing Command Abilities.

Ok fine, heroes don't have CAs anymore, I'm sure there's other ways GW can balance them and give them a unique role, lets take a look at the new battletomes...

Oh, OH. So 90% of the time you took a hero who was basically just used for his CA, stripped that away, added nothing, and now he's just a bland statline competing with 12 other near identical statlines in the same book. Awesome, much flavor, tons of depth and strategy unlocked.

nah, that was the champion for Mordheim you are talking about, right? That's just par for the course of "looting" miniatures. You can find loads of those for vikings and whatnot too. Not saying Beastmen are necessarily above it, but for the Fimir it's their explicit, canonical and only way to reproduce. So saying anybody else is the rape fetish faction is a bit silly.

Is that lore still canon? I mean, yeah of course beastmen can be created through chaos corruption, but i think in AoS there is lore of Beastmen tribes that existed before chaos and even lived in harmony with others.

Beastmen in AoS developed before Aelves, Humans, etc came into being, but they're not wholly natural creatures and don't exist in harmony with their environment like other species' do. The Hyshian Beastmen in question were a notable exception to this, but the others still had links to Chaos even before the Chaos Gods were drawn to the Mortal Realms.

That's a bit of a stretch, if you ask me. Irish/Celtic lore is not exactly squeamish when it comes to those things either. But if you imagine that the women that were kidnapped or enslaved enjoy consensual intercourse with half-demon potatoheaded cyclopses that is your prerogative I guess.

There's a blog where the writer's chimed in so idk what to say.
It's stuff like Baylor's daughter and the fact something like wardship was common place among the Irish. Is this a rape fetish thing? Fimir raped obviously but the writers have said they weren't thinking of it too deeply and that they regret it.
>>
>>81296240
Even if the initial writer didn't think of it, everybody else did. In the 1st edition WFRPG they mention trading specifically with female slaves for the purposes or procreation. Slaves usually don't get to have a say in anything.

It's one of those thing where back when it was written nobody would have blinked an eye, but if you were to write it these days you'd get crucified. Not to mention Fimir are montrous villains. They're supposed to be horrifying. If it's actually true and either Priestley, Halliwell or Bryan Ansell addressed this somewhere I'd be inclined to say they're probably just trying to cover their asses. Cause who need the aggravation, right?
Fimir are just interesting cause they one of the few things that are distinctly warhammer because they were not inspired by repurposing existing dnd or lotr miniatures or something like that afaik.

Hammers might be best for current meta. 6++ around objectives is really strong. Otoh Hallowed knights can run Stormkeep abd castle up with Gardus. 20 vindictors = counts as 60 models, Gardus gives them a 5++, the fight when they die on a 4+, take a Vexillor to resurrect them. I plan on trying this with a min unit of Praetord and Gotrek to anchor and kill.

Two units of 10, son.

Hammers is arguablu better if you are doing Stormdrake Guard spam which why wouldn't you? They are criminally undercosted and good. Unit of 6 is 36 wounds at 3+/6++ (on objectives) , -1 to wound them and 4+ spell shrug and have good odds on Rallying. I'd still prefer Gardus but he is too slow to keep up with them and these boys really want to delete shit that is on an objective.
>>
>>81297321
1. Gardus can drop in with Scions
2. Drakes are really good but Drake spam is inefficient. You want Draconis and 1x4 or 1x6 Drakes at most, MSU is not good

you mean shitloads of damage right? 10 protectors dudes is 4 starsouls and a lot of glaive attacks at Rend-2

10 protectors is 16 damage to a 3+ save every turn, or 24 damage if you use the holy command for +1 Attack

15 protectors is even more nuts, can kill a 2+/5++ 20W monster in one turn by themselves

and then they're a 30/45 wound tarpit with 2+ save all the time

>>
>>81298369
You know the sludgeraker buff isn't affected by the shaman's buff right? Is the math still right?
>>
>>81297579
Gutrippaz are essentially a tax, given how cheaply everything else In the army is costed. A lot of other stuff is very very cheap for what you get, so ultimately it works out in the wash, buy I feel a lot of lists are only going to run 1 or 2 units of gutrippaz and then some boltboyz out to fill out battleline in big yellers.

Kruleboyz overall are wierd because they are more of a glass anvil. They are squishy, but they also want you to charge them so they can throw grenades in your face and unleash hell with crossbows. I think basically you park some gutrippaz on objectives with a mirebrute troggoth to back em up, and then some boltboyz nearby, and just tempt the opponent to try to peel you off it.
>>
>>81298443
They do stack somewhat. The shaman makes it go off on 5s, and the sludgeraker makes 6s do +1. So for example gutrippaz with 20 attacks would proc 3 hits of 1 venom with 5s, and then 3 hits of 2 venom with the 6s, for a total of 9 venom wounds, plus any other damage from non venom hits
>>
>>81298443
Yes. You're doing 2 mortal wounds on a 6, and 1 mortal wound on a 5. With 21 attacks for a unit of 10, that comes out at 3.5 hits doing 2 mortal wounds, and 3.5 doing 1, for 10.5 total.
>>
>>81298466
The whole army is mostly made of wet paper indeed. And they want to fight to fish for mortals, but they haven't got the speed to get there either.
I feel like the army would really benefit from more distraction carnifexes, but you can't even ally in Mawcrushas.

>>81298505
>>81298515
Actually, yes that math is correct. That's.. Not great, not terrible.
I wish the Gutrippaz just had a little something more. Two damage baseline or something like that. Besides rolling sixes it doesn't seem like the unit has anything going for it.
