>>

They've been always called that way in AoS...
>>
>>78549229
Good idea, but maybe it would be better to use the regular zombie kit, which has only 2 guys with graves instead of 10.
>>
>>78549229
Sounds like a lot of work, even if the graves can be cleanly removed. Consider investing in skeletons instead.
>>
>>78549229
Remove gravestones and roots, the planks could be bits of the ship stuck to the zombies
Add more bits of the ship onto the zombies to sell that idea better (ropes, wheels, marine lanterns, seaweed, etc)

Honestly I'd be fine with just multpart kits for our core units and to get back all the stuff they removed from the army (dragon ogres, half the monsters, chaos trolls, chaos ogres, forsaken, hellcannons and so on)

>‘Ultimately, life conquers all. Death is but another part of the cycle. As the rune Quul teaches us, it is both prelude and epilogue to the story of each living thing – as one thing withers, another blossoms in its place. This is a noble truth, for all that the Father of Plagues would seek to corrupt it, and for all that these human champions of industry would try and choke it. Life will abide, as I have. Then, when the time is ripe, it will thrive over all else.’ — Alarielle, the Everqueen

Are they really stupid enough to not realize that someone that doesn't know anything about AoS wouldn't know their superspecial new names and would just search for "age of sigmar orcs" or something like that? Everyone knows what orcs or elves are, but no new player will know their new names, so it doesn't even achieve that.

They weren't ever supersecret, they were just tasked with taking care of the Reforging process. They were sent out into the realms secretly in small numbers but their existence wasn't a secret.

And since the Necroquake they have operated completely openly in the realms. I am not really sure what else you might be referring to by "pseudo-Grey Knights hyper secret BS". They've never been that way.

>>
>>78549875

Only issue is that one of the legs is attached to the statue's wing, but you probably could remove the wings from the statue, paint it up as a skelleman and then use the wing as rubble that the Reikenor is flying over.
>>
>>78549880
>utter shit material
Yup hobbylet
>>
>>78549875
Yeah should be pretty easy, only difficulty really is that reik's horse is mounted on the statue wing by the side, so you need to resculpt/cut that side of the hoof.

>>

You do realize bent swords are extremely common in plastic and unlike resin, it can't be fixed just by bending them in place in warm water, right? That's if it doesn't just break on a piece so tiny it's impossible to pin back.
>>
>>78549984
Durability, softness, brittleness, cost, etc

What are some popular competitive sports in the Mortal Realms?
>>
>>78550370
Because it didn't?
WHFB knew, broadly speaking, four types of heroes.
1) The fighter Lord
Literally just a beatstick. The only thing he did for your army other than being real good at hitting things was to hand his usually high Leadership to other units.
2) The Wizard Lord
The obligatory Lv4 Wizard everyone and their granny took along and who was basically worth as much as the entirety of the army's infantry and made everything about him.
3) The BSB
The thing spreading around the above-mentioned beatstick's Ld even further
4) The gimmick Hero
Shit like Dispelling Scroll caddies, Hero Hunters, Warplock Engineers with portable nukes and army-specific shit like Necrotects

Compared to that, AoS has
>Commander
>Beatstick
>Wizard
>Priest
>Miscellaneous Buff Hero
and those roles are mixed and matched by different Heroes.

Anyone else think Soulblight Gravelords is creatively bankrupt? Just because vampires were the masters of the undead in Fantasy why should they be in AoS? Why can't we have undead factions led by a Lich or Necromancer kings or flesh sculpting frankenstein monsters or some shit? We got these realms where anything could happen and we're just doing the same shit to please the grogs
>>
>>78550358
>>78550320
What's stopping you playing the dwarves and using the warscrolls of the other units?
Use dwarves for cannon crew and quarrelers for crossbows??
>>
>>78550447
>and we're just doing the same shit to please the grogs
Yup, that's what everybody wants.
>>
>>78550447
I think Death is already a lot more varied than it was before. VC was led only by Vampires. Now the leaders of the Death GA are two vampires, a skeleton, an Adonis skeleton and Santa Muerte.
>>
>>78550447
Since the initial launch of Age of Sigmar there has existed no barrier that would stop you from running an army of undead under a necromancer, if you ever felt like collecting such an army.
>>
>>78550450
People want to play dwarfs, not pretend they are still an army while using human rules.
>>
>>78550425
I wasn't talking about the hero thing specifically, just about the comment of "make it fantasy". If WHFB did a specific thing better, wanting AoS to use it too isn't turning the game into WHFB.
>>
>>78550502
But if people really wanted to do that then surely they would just proxy because then for all intents and purposes they're playing dwarves
>>
>>78550425
Dunno what to tell you anon, you clearly listed more variety in fantasy heroes. Not to mention duellists and other heroes that were there to joing a specific unit. AoS foot heroes mostly suck amazing balls and are only taken for their command abilities, if they even have one.
>>
>>78550512
Anon if someone is asking for dwarfs in an anonymous swedish masonry forum it's to vent their frustrations for GW squatting most of the dwarf units and sticking them into the human book without a functional roster and half a page of lore. They don't want you to tell them to proxy, they want GW to make a real dwarf army.

I'd just like if heroes could join units. It's dumb that Scinari cannot join the unit which is designated as their bodyguard. Having more battletome-specific options for customization of heroes would also be nice, but at least that's being slowly implemented through expanded Anvil rules.
>>
>>78550447
Vampires should have their own faction but they shouldn't be bunched up with other undead.

Now that Sons of Bahamet are a thing, I'm starting to feel tempted to get into AoS - always wanted to have the old giant minis, and I'm happy for an excuse to buy eight - but how does the faction actually function? It doesn't seem like there's any room for variation at all, with only one leader unit and one regular unit.

>>
I've done some layering and edge highlighting with evil sunz scarlet and wild rider red over a basecoat of Khorne red washed with agrax but the result is a bit too bright and unnatural looking for my taste. Can I "smooth" the transition between the colours by applying a coat of heavily diluted khorne red?
Sorry, no pic because I can't get a decent image with my phone.
>>
>>78551117
It's not even complicated. If you have every statline and wargear option with defined rules, making a warscroll with those options is a non-issue. It doesn't even need to have the WHFB statlines, just be defined somewhere (like, a horse is +1 wound and a 10" movement, so if you wanted a hero on said horse, you add those stats).
>>
>>78551160
>Buy model
>Model has free warscroll that's easy to understand
>Play with model
AoS is all about simplicity. Matched play isn't even a focus, it's just an option tucked away and separate from warscrolls. GW will never implement upgrades like that - they don't even have them for units any more where before a 1-in-5 banner upgrade held a choice, one or another. Now it's just 1-in-5 for each banner typically.

they seriously think SvsT and points per model are too complicated
>>
>>78551197
None of what I said would change the existing warscrolls, just give you basic rules to make your own with the options that exist. Anvil is not only a separate system, it's also super vague and doesn't have rules for specific things. It has a basic statline for each race and "small mount" "big mount" "can fly". It'd be just giving us the rules GW should be using to create the warscrolls in the first place, though at this point I'm convinced they don't have any standards and stats are given randomly.
>>78551214
Maybe.
>>
>>78551240
Anvil is optional, detached from the game and unlikely to be anything other than a fleeting expansion like regiments of renown or mercenary companies.
>>
>>78551311
Precisely, which is why I'm saying something like that should be part of the core system like it was in WHFB. Not only does it give the official warscrolls/unit profiles much more consistency and coherency since there's logic behind everything, it would let everyone create whatever hero/mount/wargear combination they want with official rules and point costs without the need of GW actually making said warscroll.
>>
>>78549744
Very based and the same for me.
>>
>>78551311
And that is a good thing, keeping the game simple with the option of having the anvil if you want something "official", that is, if you are too stupid to make up your own rules/ use another system.

gold isn't even valuable according to the lore

You're not understanding what I mean by symbolic value

I mean use as a metaphor or on models to imply a theme or in writing not merely as a material or socially constructed currency

The way that ancient civilisations use gold is the same way that GW uses gold in AoS both as a colour and on models as a material. They paint stormcast gold for a reason - it's such a common cultural symbol of divinity and monarchical authority.

The only reason this is at odds with AoS' writing is because GW haven't purged themselves of AoS1 style writing where everything is extreme, aelemental or magical

Yes, in the day, when your currency was backed by gold, your money could be exchanged for gold (but even then it was fucking hard and rare to do).
But the idea of people lugging around water for purchases is retarded.
Logistically, militarily speaking, water is an absolute bitch to plan for and transport.

Conventional gold, in the Warhammer universe, has had magical properties that make it valuable. Particularly for people using Chamon magic. Conventional gold has value in and of itself in Warhammer. Hell we have artifacts still called "Blade of Leaping Gold." Temples and Cities in Azyr are described as covered in gold. It would still have value.
>>
>>78552133
AoS writers are not known for their internal consistency
>>
>>78552113
No you can't. There's other gold out there that isn't just Aether or Ur. Such as Deep Gold. For all you know, this is a collection of Shade-Gold coins infused with the magic of Shyish which would be very valuable to the right people.
>>
>>78552135
that's not gold, it's reddit-gold
it glitters when near faggotry, which is why slaanesh loves it so much
>>
>>78552133
Because Gold is a currency and the people who say it isn't are idiots. There's also a difference in AoS between natural Gold and Gold created by transmutation.
>>
>>78552112
AoS literally has KO forming modern corporations with shareholders and you are telling me this idea could not be figured out?
News flash retard national governments were not the only ones issuing currency (or currency equilivalents). Look at the Andrew Jackson and the wildcat banks of the American 1820s-1830s. Banks were basically issuing their own currency. The 'modern' American dollar is basically the result of the Civil War

Switch out the marauder torso with the chaos knight torso. Gives them a semi armored look, and gets rid of the hunchback/ no neck problem the old kit has. Despite being dated, the old kit is modular and great for kitbashing and conversions. I've had alot of fun building my marauders.
>>
>>78552133
Gold is not universally not a currency.
People can still have gold even if they don't typically use it as coinage.
In the second case it might be weird if someone were to ask for all your plant pots as payment, but not overly weird given the way the realms are.

I think people are also forgetting that Kharadron don't just deal with the Cities of Sigmar. There's thousands of independent factions, settlements and individual collectors who trade in more than just Aqua Ghyranis or Aether Gold.
>>
>>78552196
it's worthless to KO, fyreslayers (they only want the Ur-gold incidentally found mixed in sometimes) and to most people in Aqshy
>>
>gold isn't valuable because there's too much of it imported from chamon

>water from ghyran is valuable despite being naturally occurring in ghyran

what currency does hammerhal ghyra even use?
>>
>>78552133
They get approached with a job offer and name their price.

And gold does hold value in the Free Cities. But each city may mint its own coins, if coins are even used at all, and not all goods and natural resources are equally valued in all parts of Sigmar's empire. Gold is valued widely enough that it has been considered as a basis for a single currency to be used in the whole empire, but the markets tend to quickly destabilize during test runs thanks to Kharadron practices. But this still tells us that gold isn't viewed as worthless in the cities.

if the value of gold plummets the moment a kharadron steps in then gold is not valuable at all
>>
>>78552281
>>water from ghyran is valuable despite being naturally occurring in ghyran
It's special water, and it's a lot more useful than gold, so it has more intrinsic value.

>>78551830
It is valuable just like real world money. Worthless as a resource but the economy gave it value. A typical AoS family doesn't pay in water, souls or blood for food.
>>
>>78552335
>if Gold isn't a currency then why are they transporting it.
They have access to a lot of it, so when someone decides to make a gold based currency system they can just pick up a load and get to exploiting them.

Water, I suppose. It may have less practical value in Ghyran, but Aqshan traders will still want it. They need to pay to import timber from Aqshy because logging is forbidden in Ghyran. But a lot of transactions will likely be conducted through barter trade rather than by using the Aqshan currency of Aqua Ghyranis.
>>

>>
>>78552320
>It's special water
it's literally any kind of water that comes from ghyran, if anything it should be even more common than gold in chamon

the establishment of aqua ghyranis as a currency can only be done through a strict regulation of movement between the two realms and is for all intents and purposes just an unfair practice imposed to spite the rightful supremacy of kharadrons and enforce lower classes poverty
>>
>>78552400

When someone is foolish enough to try and make a gold backed currency, yes.

Well yeah there are like only two transference points between the realms on the Great Parch. And one of those is located inside a fortress that's currently occupied by Morathi's forces. Movement is strictly regulated.

Gold has value in some places, most commerce is some form of barter. Thought coin currency does exist and is used. Hammerhal in particular tends to accept many different currencies from Aqua Ghyranis to Excelsian Glimmerings to your bog standard gold, silver and copper coins.

No. It's special water infused with a lot of magic and only comes from the Verdia region.

>>78552555
I'm not saying that, I'm saying this is basically the format 40k uses now, where the guns are shared across the army (and sometimes, across multiple armies), like a lasgun is a lasgun no matter who carries it. That's not how it works in AoS proper, where for example the liege kavalos has a "commander blade", not a nadirite blade, like the anvil or 40k would have. Just saying it might be the direction they'll take AoS forward next edition to bring both games closer together.

>>
>>78552577
Anvilgard has four realmgates. All of them are located somewhere within the Black Nexus. Nobody goes in or out without the fortress garrison's admittance. That's basically the whole reason why there's a city there in the first place. Sigmar didn't order people to settle there because he thought it'd be a nice place to live. He just wanted to capture and fortify the realmgates.

Hammerhal has the Stormrift Gate. It's notable for being absolutely massive compared to most realmgates, but it's also very stable. Some gates will only open under specific conditions, like when a key is used or at a certain time of year, but the Stormrift is both reliable and colossal.

Multipart warriors might come with the next StD tome but absolutely not sooner. Also Be'lakor's thing are demons and not mortals. It wouldnt make sense to add a dead chaos warrior to his base if he were coming with mortals.

Be'lakor is coming alone.
>>
>>78553856
why would be'lakor be accompanied by chaos warriors when he's a leader of daemons while undivided mortals are followers of archaon? which is why he has a dead warrior on his base btw
and no stormcast bit because he has to fit in the old world, like the soulblight models
>>
>>78553984

thats a good point, whats the shield for then though?

i could see BR belakor having allegience rules for chaos "daemons" keyword so you could take any daemon from any god.

They should just release extra weapon options you can buy like they are now.
I'd buy a sprue of great weapons or halberds that were made to fit the new Warriors for sure.
>>
>>78553984
Be'lakor is still part of the StD battletome. Nothing says they won't have an update Lumineth style, just with only 3 kits instead of 12.
>>
>>78553992
He already has that with the Legion of the First Prince from the Wrath of the Everchosen book.
>>
>>78554004
any loadout that isn't hand weapon and shield is an insult to chaos warriors
>>
>>78553992
That's already a thing. If he comes anything else that isn't just his new rules, it'll be for StD.

>Nothing says they won't have an update Lumineth style
Lumineth situation was special. A special fuck up due to china problems and covid. They were forced to release half of the army. The "new battletome" has just added some unit and rule pages and the rest is exactly the same. There are no paint schemes for new Lumineth nations even. Lumineth release was a fuck up and it wont ever happen again unless there's another fuck up.

Speaking of which, that book is supposed to be happening at the same time as BR Teclis and Be'lakor appears in it, so when the fuck is BR Be'lakor gonna happen? Immediately after? Katakros is still there.
>>
>>78554044
yes, that's an insult to a proper chaos warriors too
they would look better with mace and shield

I imagine they'll almost certainly expand those rules

While you might think its cool for Lumineth players they got a second wave its actually not true. The initial release was half of what was supposed to release. They even stated in the initial previews they had much, much more models to release and then they didnt and we got this abomination of a release. You gotta treat those two Lumineth waves as a single release ( a big one of course)

I will probably just get one box of these and fill out the rest with Fireforge and Mantic zombies.

Anon Lumineth were supposed to release exactly a year ago. They were delayed to september, that's it. The book was made 6 months before april, so the final contents were already decided, as is clear when you read the tome and has extensive descriptions of all the 2nd wave units. It wasn't a fuck up, it was very much intentional, just like Slaanesh, who also got a new wave exactly a year after the first one.
If you want to talk about special situations, look at StD. Every single other army with a Malign Portents hereald got a big ass 10+ kit release. SCE, Nighthaunt and GSG all got it. StD? They got Warcry scraps and a rushed tome that fixed nothing and is missing tons of content due to the Warcry band shoehorning taking up almost 20 pages. Not to mention a SC consisting of half a scrapped starter set (notice the hex pegs?) with so announcement of those models being released outside of that box almost 2 years later.
>>78554096
I won't because they did the exact same thing with Slaanesh. Had Lumineth not been delayed to september, the second wave would have come out exactly one year later, again, just like Slaanesh.

Damn these are great

Fireforge has a very similar style to GW but I find their scale to be a little bigger (e.g. comparing the northmen kits to freeguild stuff)

Anyone know how they scale in the case of this kit?
