That's fine, but /yourdudes/ is never anything practical. People posting /yourdudes/ garbage aren't posting anything useful like the rules/list choices they made, nor is it anything to do with modelling/painting. It's just self wanking about how their chapter has so much x and y and specializes in z when all anyone needs to figure out is that they are a white scar successor list with shit ton of bikes from their list and army picture.

Oh GEE WHIZ, what a nuanced and mysterious lore you have crafted. I'm so happy that you had to explain all that in a block of text when a list or just a model pic would've been more interesting and less embarrassing. It isn't the act of not having a pre-established chapter/warband/dynasty/whatever and playing that which makes him mad, it's people who write entire fanfics about their models and their escapades that he hates. I get it to a degree, a lot of nomodels do that, but personally I only do that when I have had a model do something extraordinary during a game.

Every game shouldn't be the reenactment of some major battle in which a major named character was present. It's the antithesis of what 40k, Warhammer generally, and wargaming itself is about.

Amusingly, my Fists army here started out as an army based around Lysander, who had to be taken every game in order to do some stupid terminator stuff. A sad symptom of what the game became.

Is it more or less powerful than a FNP 6+?
>>
>>78548966

>>
>>78548987

I remember that the 5th edition marine codex when I started had literally a paragraph explaining that it's not like Lysander is the only Terminator Captain with TH and SS in the Imperium and that nothings stops you from converting one saying that it uses the rules for Lysander (or whatever else SC) but instead it's your dude.
>>
>>78548989
I'm going to do retarded and baseless maths here.
Let's say for each chance of saving a wound is +1 (Because it's just one wound) whereas a mortal wound is -2 (Because an additional mortal wound on top of a normal wound sucks ass).
In your hypothetical scenario, a 5 would have a benefit of 2 but negated by the 1/6 chance of losing 2, so it's a net gain of 0. Whereas a 6 up would have a net gain of 1. You would need to make it a 4+ with mortal wound rolls of 1 to be on par.

>>78548989
It's statistically the same as not having a fnp if the range is the same. So 6+ fnp with extra damage on 1 is the same as no fnp, just like 5+ fnp with an extra wound on a 1-2. A 5+ fnp with extra damage on a 1 is the same as a fino on a 6+ etc.

MWs make it worse instead because of spillover
>>
>>78548989
less powerful I'm gonna say because SMs are 2W models (since you said apothecary, I'm gonna assume SM) So when they crit fail not only they retain the wound but could insta die from things like lasguns.

I've not done the math, but the risk of just getting blown to smitherines by single damage infantry guns like stubbers or lasguns is just simply too much of a risk.

I can maybe see it in a super tailored meta done against you where 2 damage guns are everywhere, but I think on a normal random opponent matchups it's generally weaker.

You can fall off an autism cliff of cringy OC but naming your own characters and coming up with unique chapters is a staple of 40k. A lot of early 40k characters and chapters are from people's OC. For example Captain Tycho

You can call his phantom of the opera mask, gold muscle armour and nipple laser cannons that violate several ABM treaties silly but he has more heart and soul than anything GW has put out in years.

hey guys, drillin' muh first barrels and open to advice.

got a lil vice that attaches to my desk and has nice soft rubber grips to not damage the minis. i already have a regular power drill but purchased a tiny little hand drill that came with a dozen really tiny drill bits for plastic.

i took an unused shoota arm bit to practice on and picked a drill bit a little smaller than the diameter of the gun. the size turned out good, but its a bit off center and dont wanna do that again! im thinking of doing the next one by first drilling a tiny tiny pilot hole first with small drillbit to make sure the next one is more centered. outside of that i cant think of anything else i can do besides paying better attention to make sure its centered. open to any/all tips.

also: i have one vehicle already painted, but not varnished yet and want to add holes to the big guns on it and then just touch it up with some black to make it look sooty. or should i not risk drilling into an already painted model? thx for any tips, gonna hop to youtube for tips too.

I hold a knife flat against the barrel and then eyeball the tip until it's as close to center as I can get. Then I rotate my hand and apply a little bit of force to make an initial pilot hole, then work up through drill sizes until I have the barrel I want. Has worked basically every time for me.

The same method should work for vehicles but I'd get some practice on bare plastic beforehand if you're afraid of damaging the paintjob.

It was a guy's army at a big tournament I went to. Very cool. Commissar blob swarm type deal. It lost best painted to some Blood Angels player whose army was literally badly painted, who only won because "lol dude he had handpainted banners!" The TOs stopped even grading everyone else's armies fairly, and just told people "it doesn't matter if we didn't give you the points, that guy won." Needless to say, half of the tournament was livid.

Last tournament I'll ever play in. Tourneyfags colluding with TOs. What bullshit.

Aspect warriors specifically embody 'aspects' of Khaine, the bloody handed war god of the Eldar.
>I heard guardians are mere civilians.
Correct, drafted/volunteer militia.
>>
>>78549314
Every profession is a path. For example, before becoming a seer, Eldrad Ulthran walked the path of the musician. All aspect warriors walk the path of the warrior, but in very different ways. The PL of the Warp Spiders is thought to be Lhykosidae
>>
>>78549314
Aspect Warriors walk the Path of War, which is divided in the Aspect Shrines, each founded by a Phoenix Lord, although not all the Lords are accounted for in the modern day.
Guardians are Eldars that are currently not walking the Path of War (though they may have in the past), but are still called upon to fight because the Eldars need as many hands as possible to defend themselves.
>>
>>78549317
Personal rule for modifying units is that you can only +1 to one category, and if you want to add another +1 you have to -1 from a different category.

Nub here. Do you roll saves for every piece of damage, or do you roll saves against a wound roll. For example, if my weapon is D3 and ive succeeded in my hit roll, the enemy has to roll three armour saves?
>>
>>78550049
not viable whatsoever
>>
>>78550206
shot hits
shot wounds
you do saves.
enemy rolls Damage.
u cry.
if you have a feel no pain equilavent you get to use it against damage here.
>>
I admit I have small lore bits for My Guys, like my Breacher Squad has all black helmets because they know they're more than likely going to die horribly.
>>
>>78550206
Roll a save for every successful wound roll.

If the model has a rule that states "...on a 5+ that model does not lose a wound" then you would roll one die for every point of damage the unit takes (after any saves you fail ofc).
>>
>>78550220
That's the life of a breacher, brief but incandescent

Anyone got recommendations for a secondary colour for teal? I'm painting my Kabalites armour in teal, was gonna do their cloth on arms/legs/boots in cream but the boots would look weird in cream i think

Since im doing iron hands and they have all flesh is weak, that means i need to only roll a 6 against a succesful hit roll, not roll 6's for every potential damage?

>>
>>78550267
>>78550249
as the man says, you take the hit, take the wound, fail the save THEN do the iron hands shenanigans against damage.

IE: gun with 3 damage 1 shot shoots man.
he rolls once to hit.
he rolls once to wound
you roll one save(either ward or armour)
if you fail this your fnp/iron hands thing happens now against the 3 instances of damage. so you roll 3 times, once for each instance of damage.

watch a youtube vid with somone playing iron hands maybe my man.

As I'm looking into Primaris bullshit, I can't fathom why the Dark Angels would ever have Primaris marines but it seems like they're a better investment than buying regular marines (I'm assuming that the game will be entirely Primaris marines by 10th edition).

If you're willing for GW to take 30 years of Space Marines and turn them into basically a new product with new units of 3 special weapons guys, and new hovertanks that simply don't resemble the Marines that fought on Armageddon or Macragge etc., you're opening the door to stuff like female Marines, which is probably a more minor change, adding in a couple of long haired brutes who'd slide into Tactical Squads and ride in Rhinos no problem.

No it doesnt. Thats essentially a higher level of sold out, its basically saying "We are out of stock and we have no fucking clue when we will have more". Theres massive demand for every kit from most armies right now.
>>
>>78551324
This is what Forge World should be doing instead of making entire over-priced armies.

Faction weapon packs, faction head packs. Little bits, which is what resin is best used for anyway, to allow you to further customise your army beyond what you get in the plastic kits. They do this for fucking Necromunda but not the far more popular 40k range for some inexplicable reason.

Which is dumb because it was the Primarchs that caused the Heresy. Without them the marines alone aren't that much of a threat to the human part of the Imperium, they can't replace losses quickly enough.
>>
>>78551376
I think it was more of a: "Oh shit, this is the kind of thing you've been dealing with?" type thing. The scariest thing about when Guilliman got his neck slashed was the occasional raid by scattered chaos forces. I reckon seeing the mostly united chaos legions, the Tyranids, the Necrons, and the Orks approaching critical mass made him realise that he should probably stop the space marines holding back.

They dont want to, their supply lines are fucked due to covid.
HOWEVER, I think they are retarded as fuck for not releasing their codexes digitally at the time they originally wanted it released so the whole system isnt fucked up. Because we are at a point where the Sisters codex, which would have just been a sneaky slot in Feb or early march, is now taking up 5 weeks of time that another army could have it for when Sisters are sitting at 60% WR

There's an astonishing lack of 'civilian' level stuff in 40k. They've dived into it a bit more with those recent crime books, but they could do a lot more. I know that someone is going to be snide and link those Kid's books, but Black Library do actually seem to be trending towards including the occasional more mature story.

You are retarded. This started with 8th Space marines because so many people play that army, but it will get harder and harder to have a fun "your dudes vs your friends dudes" when your dudes win every single time because they have better rules.
I didnt even mention the meta, simply that Sisters fit in very well in 9th while many factions dont and struggle a lot even in casual games.
If I know my friend is playing his Tau, we have a silent agreement I wont take my Custodes because I will win nearly 100% of the time due to current rules even though I love the faction and would vastly prefer playing them.
Feel free to imagine "epic moments" when your GSC get their skulls caved in for the 100th time.

>12 x S10 AP-3 D3
>19 x S5 AP-1 D1

attacks will kick the ass of most things you can put on the table, its issue is actually staying on the board. An issue Guard also has, so it doesn't shore up any capability gap
>>

That has literally always been a problem with 40k, and always it will be. You are kidding yourself if you think that updated codexes would solve it, we already have people crying that DG can't consistently beat DE and that Necrons are underpowered compared to DG. The only solution to be able to play whatever army you want with your friends is to make up home-brewed scenario that balance things.

I've honestly had much better luck with truck acolytes than perfect ambush acolytes just because it can be so much harder to fit a blob of 10 into a deep strike range with smaller boards and shit like infiltrator bubbles.

Twisted Helix acolytes getting out of a truck is 11"+d6"+2d6" threat range for the cost of a CP or a psychic power, feels much more reliable and more importantly softer on my CP wallet -75 points for the truck vs. net 2 more CP for Perfect Ambush feels like a way better deal.

love it, gotta warn you.
I don't think you've any idea how amazing it is to have a block of 5-10 lychguard making a command barge/all your crypteks etc. 100% untargetable.
Their output is below the night bringer, their survivability tends to actually be above it though as does their ability to make your other characters more survivable.

If it were up to me? I'd recommend dropping the overlord for a command barge, bringing lychguard to make your characters untargatable and bringing other Anti-Tank tools as well. like maybe whatever the dynasty with that +1 to wound in shooting is.

I've faced a list almost exactly like this actually.
It fell down against half it's opponents and flailed impotently against their armour... but still won like 2/3 games usually. it just struggled to handle vehicles and big tough high save units.
bouncing off of deathwing terminators (I mean to be fair who doesn't) off of knights, off of Tyranid Dymacherons, off of THSS Terminator blocks, basically anything that had a 2+ save with cover or could roll 2+ with ap -1 or -2.

Bring the tools to fallback and shoot, bring the tools to do the easy secondaries and recognize it'll still probably not workout half the time.

What secondaries do you take?

UNLESS you're just doing this list because you wanted to run your 5th ed. steel tide... in which case, godspeed you beutiful bastard.
