>>77695213>What's the most obvious NPC/PC write in for a famous fictional character (from Star Wars or another series) that you ever did?a rebel special forces agent who lost his vocal cords in an unspecified warship crashhe uses a blaster pistol in one hand and a lightsaber in the other and while everyone assumes he is a former jedi of some kind, supported by his insistence on wearing a mask to hide his scars and identity, the truth will never be known
>>77695323Nice. Does he perchance have an arch rival?
>>77695213>What's the most obvious NPC/PC write in for a famous fictional character (from Star Wars or another series) that you ever did?I've not yet actually done it, but during an MGS lore binge, I realised how perfectly a pastiche of Big Boss and Solid Snake would work in the setting. >An old ARC Trooper who had to kill his Jedi Master friend and mentor during Order 66>was granted the title of "General" as an underhanded promotion from Palpatine or some other smarmy higher up>became disillusioned with the whole business, 'retired'>realised that Clones were all just disposable tools, now discarded and without purpose>went and founded a mercenary base on the galactic rim, gathering Clones and other lost and purposeless soldiers to a cause>is only known as "The General", is a legendary soldier>might have gone mad and constructing a superweapon that'd ignite a Galactic War once more so that soldiers like him and his Brothers can't ever be discarded again>weirdos using the Force in esoteric ways may or may not featureYou can kinda insert bits and pieces of the entire MGS storyline into this and it'd work
>>77696288Looks so stupid. Traditional nose arts are way better.

>>77696288>>77696343I like both, but Rancor mouth is better.
>>77696288>>77696343Anyone think with the release of the LAAT/Ie for Empire, that GAR in legion will get their iconic gunship?
>>77696384Well, GAR is getting the Laat /le too, it's a dual-faction release. That, combined with just how much bigger the true deal is, makes it seem pretty unlikely to happen at least any time soon.I think there's a solid chance it happens some day. But the Laat gunship is 28 meters long; the Saber tank is 8m long and already a $60 kit.
>>77696343There's a dude who paints nude pinups on his ships and then brings them to the store and won't stop talking about them. Some curious parent will walk by with their kid in tow, and ask about the game, and I immediately lose their interest due to creepy pinup guy. Hope he fucking died of covid or something by the time stores are back.
>>77696417If Legion keeps on being successful I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility to see an Apocalypse-style expansion with rules for bigger battles and expensive centrepiece models that don't fit in the standard format e.g. the LAAT, AT-TE, Homing Spider Droid, and maybe even an AT-AT if they're feeling brave enough. I reckon there's probably enough demand for models like that to make it worth it, hell I know I'd go out and pre order a Legion scale LAAT gunship.
>>77696477Yeah, I roughly agree. I think, on its current trajectory (which is, so far, very successful with very large growth), Legion is 2-3 years from starting to do "massive" kits. They'd probably start with "slightly-oversized" and go from there, rather than diving into Warhound Titan territory off the bat.Another thing, though, is unlike certain Workshops where Games are made, with Legion they don't come up with a model then invent rules to sell it. Legion's development is to make a fun and thematic unit first, then design the miniature to fit the rules (with some exceptions - it's a collaboration, of course, sometimes form informs function too). And so, accordingly, they are never going to release an AT-AT or whatever, unless they have designed it internally and made sure it's actually fun to play; with and against. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they have already been doing exactly that for a while now, and just have yet to hit upon a fun design - Armada's SSD was in development from pretty much Wave 2, but didn't actually come out until wave 7.5.
>>77696477>Homing Spider DroidWouldn't be any/much bigger (and much less total volume) than an AAT, would they?
>>77695533still finding a way to implement his rival in-game without stealing the spotlight away from the partybut his former classmate threw in with the empire and works as a mercenary to take revenge on him for murdering their teacher
How would you even balance a LAAT for Legion? Those things are fucking gunships that can level a battlefield with cannons and missiles, good luck if they include the rape laser pods.

>>77699931>Her identification number was DT-F16Is this actually true?
>>77701717Because the creation of the NR was just replacing one elite with another, in many cases elites that were already so during the Old Republic and during the Empire. Rebs and Imperials were all just chumps in an internal power struggle at the end of the day.

>>77701717From an Imperial perspective; not really. The ruling families on Kuat ran a tight ship and *delivered*. They kept their heads down and met whatever ship building targets they were set, so why disturb a good thing? For the NR: nationalisation would be a political minefield. You also risk Kuat deciding to declare independence/not join the NR and daring anyone to try and seize their shipyards.

>>77704759Sounds right. Then you have the Null ARCs and Alpha.
>>77701717Uhhh I thought the Empire effectively HAD nationalized most of the shipbuilders. So last night I was asking about playing Legion Skirmish, and I was warned that one of its issues it it makes saber users and other units much more powerful because of the 3'x3' play area. Would making the game more vertical help with this? >>77711044Raise 1/2 to the levels of Episode 3 CGI minimum.Restore the og cantina scene, maybe with some of the extra critters shown later. Honestly ANH special edition, aside from the Han-Greedo thing, is mostly fine. A few things need a bit better CGI (from the "first" special editions, like the ugly ships) but thats it. OH unfuck Luke's lightsaber.ESB needs no changes. Put the OG boba actor in the credits though too, he deserves it.Rotj? No real changes needed other than Jabbas sail barge/Sarlacc CGI and the singing scene. Get rid of "NOOOOO" and restore Yub Nub. The spanish guitar can play during the montage of the galaxy, that can come after. Or during credits. Put Anakin's og ghost in. You can probably put Christian in somehow, like show him "age" to the new one or soemthing if you must. Endor can probably be redone purely via CGI to make some of it smoother.
>>77711489I feel like transitioning from Yub Nub to the new tune would work if done smoothly enough, I kinda Favor Hayden for consistancy, I can easily imagine new fans being confused like "who dat" but i do like the idea of aging him up mid showingCredit everyone in top billing. Prowse, Jones etc.
>>77709992Of course not. He's a Sith lord. They value power above all.>>77710490Canon and EU get this idea wrong about Vader even attempting to make friends. You're either a gear in the machine or a rock to be crushed under boot.
>>77711606Literally only 2 cracks existed in his cold. machine like hate, Padme and Luke.
>>77711582>I can easily imagine new fans being confused like "who dat"You mean the guy they literally saw with his helmet off a few scenes ealier?Should all movies come with a "take ritialin now" warning for people born after a certain date?Because if they can't hold their focus for that long, I'd hate to see someone try and play anything at the table, even if it was simple as a Star Wars themed "match the pictures" board game.
>>77710628EU authors got shit wrong all the time. Vader would've killed Luke if he kept resisting and had no qualms of using his daughter as a replacement. Vader and Sheev are the embodiment of pure evil.
>>77711625I distills down to his inability to let go of anything or anyone he was afraid to lose: first Shmi, then Padme, then Luke.
>>77711652Then maybe this was just a problem for my autistic brain
>>77711044There are a number of deleted scenes from the PT that should've been included to add some context like the founding of the Alliance and Anakin meeting Padme's family. I would've included a minor cameo of Ahsoka due to TCW S7. Nothing over the top, it would be like Vos' cameo in TPM.
>>77711655You literally do not understand what happened in the end of ROTJ then. Luke literally *DID* "keep resisting" and tossed his lightsaber and told palpatine he would never turn. Then palpatine proceeded to try and kill him (which in your scenario vader would be 100% ok with), but then he tosses his boss into the reactor shaft and saves his son.Your headcanon is wrong.

>>77711726No, if Vader didn't mention Leia he would've been forced to kill Luke by Palpatine. No rage to save Luke from getting double teamed, anon.
>>77711781Ohhh, no no, the National Museum of the United States Air Force, in Dayton Ohio (adjacent to Wright Patterson Air Force Base)https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Their virtual tour is pretty dang good, they have real high quality imageshttps://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Virtual-Tour/I highly recommend the prototype/experimental tour area and space. Some real gems that never came to be like the Valkyrie, or YF-23, and a HEXAGON satellite from the CIA (where they'd have film reels get pooped out by sats and have to retrieve them). A real amazing place in terms of how much they have. They have some ww2 and communist defector/captured planes and weapons too that are pretty neat.
>>77711784>>77711804That was just Vader baiting Luke into attacking him.

>>77710490Odds aren't good that'd you'd be able to befriend Grievous. He's got definite meatbag envy (as seen in his self-conscious hatred of droids which he's all to similar too now) plus tragic backstory, which is likely to make him even more of an anger-filled shell of a Kaleesh. But, if you proved to be that ultra-rare breed of bad guy, the one who's loyal to the end no matter how often things get pear-shaped and you get left in a lurch, he'd at the very least have a respect for your dependability.

>>77713428Not really
>>77711655Nice headcanon, but no one cares about your edgy fantasies.
>>77713428Tarkin's probably the closest thing that Palpatine had to a friend, but even then it's not really a "friend" type of relationship, but more "we think mostly alike, and he'll do what I tell him to do."

What units would you expect(not necessarily want) to see added to Legion?I could easily see a pair of Operative expansions for Asoka and Ventress. Jar-Jar and Gungans also wouldn't surprise me.

Does anyone here actually play xwing 2.0 still?I left my models at my dad’s house during covid so I havent been able to get a game in. Even if I had them I dont see anyone at my LGS playing it or posting about games anymore. I did lose some excitement over the constant point balancing ruining some combos I liked. I never got to play the new epic rules either.

>>77714734Even before covid it was pretty dead. I worked at a LGS that had a decent amount of X-Wing every week, and when 2.0 came out pretty much everyone who played slowly transitioned to Legion.

>>77716313Because 2D is easier to make look cool than 3DNext question
>>77715613I dunno, the problem is that the best thing to add to a clone army are more clones. And you want them all in one place. Sucks when people start throwing bombs and poison at you, so you need Obi-Wan to a sanatize the air with his lightsabre, etc. It just gravitates to strongly to one playstyle imo
>>77716343That doesn't explain why he went from British in Genndy Wars to Russian in ROTS

why do i get the feeling all this timeline talk comes from the same person every time?
>phase 1 and 2 are seperate units that you can take in the same armyTrash.
>>77717756the alternative is either selling P1s and P2s as just cosmetic differences, which would mean 2 packs representing the same unitor forcing the players to take only a single type, locking them out of half their corp choicesand also creating a faction within a faction that severely limits list building
>>77717785Just make the helmets optional.
>>77717825this would also cause more problems then it alleviates, because its now possible to run mixed P1s and P2s in the same squad and with the exact same statsby separating them into different units, mixing both helmets in the same squad is discouraged while also adding some much needed unit diversity by having basic troopers that do different things

>all this phase 1 vs phase 2 talkJust pretend someone pissed off the quartermaster or something
>>77718241You can just not put them both in your army, if you want. It's not any different from Cassian+Luke or whatever. The game is a "plausible abstraction".
>>77718241Alternative: Phase-1 troopers are the shinies, fresh from Kamino, and issued with the 'standard' gear. The Phase-2s in your army are the more experienced troops who have received field upgrades during the course of the war.
So, for actual Legion talk:The generic Clone/Droid commanders are rapidly becoming staples of their factions. On the other hand, the Empire sometimes uses their generic officer; the Rebels rarely do.Is this just already the ideal scenario, thematically speaking? Rebels rely on HeroHammer, Empire uses Officers to augment their heros, and the Clone/Droid mass production units take the top billing for their factions? It kind of seems like it might be. Or, conversely, did the developers simply learn from the first generic commanders? In which case, how would you redesign/buff the Reb/Imp officers to match the power level of the clones/droids (while keeping with their factions' respective themes)?
>>77718453It'd actually be the opposite most likely. Phase 1s are the guys deployed already, far from the distribution centers so they just make due with the old stuff they already have at local depots and at the unit level. the NEW guys get the Phase II, because it's easier to issue it at a highly concentrated supply zone where all the fresh clones are going before moving to their assignment. It's easier to issue gear at Kamino than Felucia.
>>77718573Never played Legion, but that sounds like how I envision the respective armies playing out. The Rebels are huge underdogs, HeroHammer is the name of the game in an out and out battle. The Empire and the Clones feel like they'd use more or less the same military doctrines though, while Clones have always had that lynchpin element to their construction. Cut off the head and the body dies, whether it's the droid control ship or just the commander who knows what's actually happening.
>>77718573>the Rebels rarely do.id say rebels use generic a lot, since its the cheapest commander in the game and helps free up points for oplukei dont really see clone commander overtaking captain rex except as a point saver, thoughbut yes, i do agree that reb/imp officers are weaker than CW counterparts, mostly due to wave 1 syndromethey were made in a different playtest meta and were made under a smaller design spacerebs can keep "take cover 1" and imps can keep "spotter 1"but what they do lack is a contextually relevant keyword on the same level as "direct", which is better by default than either, and hilariously broken for the droidsinspire 1 just doesnt match up to either bolster or directrebs could get some kind of way to get free movement, like leias NTFS imps could impart temporary suppressive, since imps are currently the best at panic
>>77718630The Empire and the Clones are really different (thematically), you're underselling just how big the difference between a genetically identical force raised from birth to fight alongside themselves is, from a volunteer/conscription army of otherwise fundamentally normal people.

>>77721428be honest, the only reasons you care about delta squad is because temuera morrison was voicing your player and you played it as a kiddelta squad is infinitely more boring than any other set of clones in the entire franchise, EU or Disney, Repcom is arguably the most overrated Star Wars video game of all time due to nostalgiagoggles from edgy 14 year olds who thought a tactical FPS in Star Wars was the hypest shit ever
>>77721428George Lucas created Bad Batch, not Filoni. And the reason was because they didn't want to infuriate EUtists by using Delta "wrong."
>>77721612>using Delta "wrong."Using Delta "right" seems like a pretty simple task. Some droids get shot, Scorch cracks a lame joke, Sev says something edgy, Boss yells and gesticulates while circle-strafe-knifing everything because he's out of ammo, and everyone forgets Fixer exists.

What's the consensus on Omega Squad?
>>77721905I'm of the opinion that Traviss wrote okay stuff for the RC series and only began to go off the rails (which you can see her start to do in Triple Zero) when she got her hands on Mandalorians. Thus, Omega is good to me. Plus their concept is pretty interesting, a bunch of leftover commandos from destroyed units all forced to work together and learn to deal with someone who wasn't their pod-bro is pretty kino in my book.
