Cute Woof Edition

Previous thread: http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/77549220/

As it says on the tin, a Thread where we discuss monster boys and their place in settings like WoD/CofD, CoC, DnD, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, RIFTS, GURPS, and many more.

Ask questions, make suggestions, post sfw art and be excellent to each other

>Thread Question:
How many monster races per setting?
>>
>>77673797
What was the monster boys' tax policy? Did they maintain a standing army? What did they do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these monster girls? By the end of the war, /mgw/ is gone but all of the monster girls aren’t gone – they’re in the mountains. Did monster boys pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby monster girls, in their little monster girl cradles?

>Did monster boys pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby monster girls, in their little monster girl cradles?

Yes, since that’s the best way to destroy your enemy. I could maybe see them adopting, if we say monster boys are magically mutated.

Monster boys should be a mutation based on character and background magic radiation. So if you are awake at night a lot you start to resemble moths or owls, etc.
By consuming essence (pulverized stag horn, blood of horses, etc) the mutations can be guided even further to resemble the essence and animal/monster.

Time wise it should be early 2000s and, of course, only males with y-chromosomes can mutate

I disagree with it being only a phenomenon starting in the 2000s
The magic radiation fits much better in a fantasy setting, less room for immersion breaking IMO
>>77675627
doesnt even have to be furry animals
I posted in the last thread about jungle tribes eventually turning into frog-folk! Lots of possibilities available here, with stuff like shadow magic or necromancy turning one into a demon or devil!

You misunderstood me. I ment that the setting takes place in the early 2000s, not that it started then.
Monster boys are just a thing in daily life and being normal is a sign of femininity, so even a faun twink is considered manly when compared to a buff weightlifter that is normal.

That's a dumb idea. Besides, women don't like manly men to begin with. They like pristine vulnerable men they can "fix".
>>

That would generally be teen girls.
>>
>>77680908
No that's generally women as a whole. They don't like rugged muscle men. They like toned super models & androgynous boys like Timothy Calamet.
>>
>>77680959
Talk with more women. Competence is a huge factor in attractiveness. It gets tiresome trying to constantly lift the spirits of an apathetic idiot, or fix an unrepentant asshole.

The dragon men army is defensiv with much importance placed on securing their Thunderous mountains, they gain energy from lightning storms and heat. They have harsh tax laws which fund the magic schools and army.

This is not representative of everyone, like at all. Attractiveness is subjective yknow. Some people like musclebound men, others like skinny boys. Theres room for preference all in between those two as well.
>Monster boys are just a thing in daily life and being normal is a sign of femininity, so even a faun twink is considered manly when compared to a buff weightlifter that is normal.
but why? Would not the inherently subversive effects of magic lead to massive distrust of the boys who are changed?
I think people are forgetting about the the wide category that encapsulates "buff" monsterboys. IE Minotaurs, crocodile men, eagles, etc.

“Subjected” was in reference to background radiation and getting healed. Not all places have the same radiation or any at all. I’m thinking of making a list that scales with levels of radiation.

Channeling magic should not be relegated to just healing spells. It would make sense for literally any caster to be at risk for such mutations.
I would think that sorcerers, having magic abilities through their ancestry would be doubly prone to the changes, given their exposure for their entire lives.
>rollable table for mutative effects
Fantastic idea! I think there should be either a 1d100 chart for everything, or some sort of separate chart by magic school. Perhaps cap results depending on the severity/level of mana exposure?
Ex: Healing magic uses your table. If you use 1-2 levels of healing magic spells in a day, roll 1d4 and consult the chart. If you use level 3-4 healing spells in a day, roll 1d6, and so on.
I think this would truly emphasize the chaotic nature of magic, and make players wary of abusing it if they want to stay normal (or it would make them use it more with the explicit intention of becoming a monsterboy). The more I think about it, it sounds vaguely like chaos in Warhammer
>>
>>77699277
I don’t think there should be a equel chance for all the results, The lowest result should be things that are not psychical with some mutations only being available if you extensively use magic (like fx. Warhammer rpgs shock table)

>I don’t think there should be a equel chance for all the results,
yeah exactly, the more mundane results would have the lower numerical values, with the higher values only being rolled for if you are using powerful magic or like decide to make your home on top of a mana font
>>77699468

Resembling a cross between a gibbon, a douc, and a bigfoot, the Yao Guo is a large, shy, rarely seen monster boy which dwells in misty rain forests and in deep inland mountain valleys. The creature is covered in body hair that grows up to 10 inches long, and ranges in color, usually either blonde red or pitch black dark. The monster boy has large, slit pupil eyes that are uncanny valley similar to a human's eye, The creature has a blue face with complex chin and jowl hair that is usually either white or gold and resembles a beard, a sloped back forehead, two large, sensitive ears that resemble a bat's ears very faintly, 2 large nostrils, and a jutting forward jaw with square block teeth. They are both paradoxically hard to find and easy to find, hard to find because they are very arboreal creatures who generally remain moving about in trees steadily, and easy to find because the sort of environment they like is well known to researchers. Yao Guo have been observed making temporary umbrellas from wide flat leaves, using stone knives and axes, and building temporary tree-teepees, but they seem to have no knowledge of fire, and most individuals seem no more intelligent than the average normal wild man, albeit intelligent enough to be somewhere near paleo-stone age, and their speech such as it is is simply meaning-dense complexes of monkey sound patterns and facial expressions.

If all monsters are boys they have to have willing human females (since majority of humans would genocide them if they went rape mode), they could make a deal to teach the woman or more rights if we assume the rest of the world has medieval morals.

Are monsterboys now natural, separate species, or a mutation?
In my opinion the second one would be cooler, but i also like Shadowrun, so what do i know
>>
>>77717710
Mutation, with humans Settling places with background radiation that causes the males to transform into satyrs or whatever with male offspring having the some or the same mutation. Then after maybe two generations there is a staple population of the same monster boy.
Maybe also add a skewered gender ratio.
