>It's time to choose players for the first Threshold session. Under the rules of Patreon this can't be a random selection; but it can be based on a contest. A few important things: I'm planning to change the format of the contest each time, and once someone has played in a session, they will be ineligible for a certain number of sessions. Likewise, I will be changing the time of each session rather than using a single standard time, to facilitate players in different time zones. The goal here is to make sure that as many people as possible have a chance to be a part of the story.

Keith Baker is running an online game with 10 PCs, each designed by Patreon voting committee. Each session is only two hours long, and the players of each PC rotate.

I can see it working only if there's some way of sectioning off players into subgroups

I'm in a text-only game with 8 players and the GM- it wouldn't work with voice chat very well because so few people can participate at a time, but with text you don't run into the issue of people talking over one another and you can have a few conversations in parallel and during combat some people can be strategizing while another player is taking a turn and a few others are joking.

The other way is to have multiple GMs and basically run two sessions in parallels with PCs moving between the groups when necessary but only rarely being ALL together.

But two hours is just really short for a tabletop session in general.
