I'm game for most everything. However I generally don't like crossover type deals. I can deal with licensed games that own their franchises but I don't care for the anime games that just collect everything that is popular in japan in a single game.

On the other hand I like Exceed which are kind that. I can't really explain it, I guess there's this mechanical identity of "fighting game" that makes me enjoy that crossover game over others.

Since I was pretty late in the last game, plugging for playtesters:

>It's called Save the Cards and the goal is simple: save the most cards. The deck is of a certain number of cards, which decides the game length. When the deck is empty, discarded cards get recycled into the main deck, and when the deck empties 3 times, the game is over.
The primary mechanic is called a "save" which removes a card from the game permanently and banks you a point. The other card types are "R"s (recycles) and "B"s (bricks) which just tell you what to do with the cards when you play them (recycle them, or have them stay on the table). Naturally, as cards are saved from the deck, it changes the distribution of effects and increases the speed of subsequent rounds.

Currently there are two sets:
>Burgers
>Heists

>>73480952
>write ups of the two current sets and contact for playtesting

It was suggested I start a Twitter, so that's probably gonna show some set development.

Shit I fell asleep before I could hear any critique or criticism on my FoW Cube idea.

>>73481200
I was going to draft rulers before the deck so you would have an idea of what to go for. It would allow for more niche cards to be included since you might pick something that synergizes with a ruler you have that otherwise wouldnt be a good pick. Kinda like commander cubes from M*gic. Do you think it would be better to get rulers after decks?
>>73482712
30 from 5 packs sounded better to me since the card pool will be better with less "draft chaff" then a normal booster draft.

I'm a huge sucker for weeb shit. Like, I'll give the shittiest game a chance if it has cute art (PreMo, Luck&Logic are my only 2 real disappointments so far). Honestly, my biggest thing is how good the game movements are. Like Vanguard is a neat game, but the feeling of slapping down a new Vanguard at the start of your turn is great. Flipping over life cloths, then moving them to the ener zone in Wixoss is great. And I think one of the reasons yugioh is even alive is people wanting to capture the dynamism of card playing that the shows present. Card games need a sense of movement, and I think it's an aspect that only really gets hashed out after the fact for an anime, or ignored altogether, but I think it's one of the most important parts of a physical game (in addition to having a physically present human opponent).

>>73485839
>cyberpunk
Netrunner nailed that aesthetic perfectly. I don't think there's much a game could do to get past that high point.
>generic fantasy
My friends like D&D and mtg, but I'm over generic fantasy. I don't know when or exactly why it happened, but it just doesn't spark much creativity in me anymore. Like, I'll play games with it, but I completely glaze over the flavour and just roll with the game mechanics.

>>73486581
Hanayo 2-stop. Not exactly sure of how her current incarnation plays, but it's also a 2-stop. Normal Wixoss decks grow to level 4 or 5, but since your Arts and LRIG are in the same deck, stopping at 2 gives you a lot more space for Arts, at the cost of missing out on all the powerful level 3 and 4 Signi. So to take maximum advantage of this, you need to hammer away at your opponent like a madman before their level 4 value engines just grind you to dust.

>>73486417
Nice to have another game design hobbyist in the thread. I'd help test your game, but I'm in the middle of putting together a kickstarter to finish one of my own game projects. Good luck, though, I hope you get some interest, the game sounds solid!

>>
>>73487127
I'm in the middle of it, so there's not much to show. It's a mainly 2 player game (4 players possible, but optimized for 2) that revolves around players playing 2 cards to make a total that exceeds the opponent's total. I've got a few pieces of art and I've coded a simulator that lets you play against an AI opponent so people can get a feel for the gameplay. But art is expensive, hence the kickstarter.

I just need to strip out the test art from the simulator, then make a demo video, and the project should be ready to go live by the end of the week, hopefully.

Like other anons said, 2-stop.
Back in the day Hanayo was incredibly fast, but I think having Big Bang banned from under her and general powercreep made her less reliable. Other aggro 2-stops existed too, but what made them dominating also got banned.

>>
>>73488119
Jigoku certainly feels a lot different than paper, but it's definitely good enough to play. I would recommend getting someone to walk you through a few games to get the hang of it though.

I would say L5R is in a good place, all 7 factions are probably the closest they've ever been competitive wise. New packs usually every month and a Ban/Restricted list every 3 months keeps the game fresh. The meta is also as diverse as it's ever been, many clans have multiple good decks.

I would recommenced starting out by netdecking and playing a few clans so you can understand what makes a deck good and what clan you want to get more into playing.

The L5R discord is also a phenomenal place with lots of resources and players. So I would suggest checking that out.

>hiding interests from significant other
you need to talk to her about your likes, hell even fetishes. if you cant be open about these things its nothing more than fling anyway, and Id say just be open about your likes and if she leaves it wasnt ever going to work anyway.
In todays age there are so many women who also like "nerdy" things that even if you cant find someone who likes exactly what you do, you can at least find someone with odd enough interests they dont care about your own "weird" hobby.
I made the same mistake you are in my early/mid 20s and wasted so much time I could have been spending doing what I wanted to do with people (person) who would be excited to do it with me.
Im very glad at this point I have a gf who also watches anime with me, and plays games. She had a very cute figure collection of non lewd lolis too when we met.

Final Fantasy TCG recently added more support for Ninja decks. Vanguard has I think two ninja clans, and Yugioh and Magic have some ninja cards you can build around.

Also Wixoss. I feel like black or red Trick SIGNI would be ninjas and they should include that with the new LRIGs. Though red does have some arts that use ninja imagery.

And FoW has ninja cat.

I like lolis and the easiest way is to just have some art or doujins lying around of it. Helps if your dating a petite girl. at least they know you like their body type and not going to run off after some cow tit. can also lead into fun things like AP and other role play.

A pretty common staple was Ammolite and Gun Smoke Flame Aura (see pic). Turn one of your SIGNI into ener, rip a hole in you let opponent’s field, and Ammolite hits them for 2 alone. The spell SEARCHER can act as your 5th and 6th copies of Gun Smoke. Topaz can also get you spells.

Common red removal SIGNI like Cyua, Amethyst, and Hisui are common choices. I’m sure Quartz for removing Servants is a fine choice.

It was pretty common to see black removal SIGNI in the deck too, though I don’t remember which ones. The green SIGNI Komaris is worth looking at since it buffs all your SIGNI and that can help in later turns.

He was strictly ok. His power level was high, but his card ability is very vanilla. Regenerating 10 cards wasn't very good by this point because most attacks were doing around that amount. You'd be better off with a vanilla defense shield so you'd also deny your opponent any if successful effects.

It also didn't help Buu that the other ultra rare in that set had one of the strongest utility effects ever printed.

I've played with the Remember deck a fair bit against other precons, and it does some stuff. The stock list has almost too much card advantage, which is lovely, and Equal Prize is a really strong art that lets you leverage that. The deck has its one level 4 trick (the LRIG ability freezes all opposing SIGNI, then Freeze Sad banishes all frozen Signi for no ener), and also has a decent amount of steady pressure. I find it is a bit weak defensively, not so much in the abstract, but its offensive options aren't quite there for an offensive-focused strategy, and once Equal Prize is out of the mix, it suffers a bit defensively as well. It comes out of it all as well-balanced against other precons, and relatively easy to upgrade with just a few of the more common blue defensive arts, like Don't Move, swapping out some of the excessive card draw like Draw Perfect (4 ener - draw 7).

Also, if you like casting Brainstorm in mtg, her level 4 does (basically) that every turn.

Why are Wizards staff so bad at designing games? This looks a hell of a lot more fun than Transformers, but Christ. Where is the player interaction? Everything after deck building is autopilot bar the boost system. I mean this looks much better than Transformers, but it doesn't look entertaining over the long run. I really don't get Wizards' aversion to instant speed cards and resources outside of MtG and DM.

A lot of games don’t have instant speed, but instead responses and specific timing in phases. Possibly to control the pace of the game, possibly to be distinctly not Magic, possibly in response to horror stories people tell about formats like Legacy.

FoW has good rules but the art is cringe and you should be embarrassed. I played Lumia because she was just wearing a pretty dress instead of coomerbait stuff like most other cards but over time I just got tired of seeing it and having the game I played have the common impression of being coomerbait.

Been playing mtg for about 13 years and just went back to that. Tried playing Star Wars Destiny and that was rather good but development is paused on that. Played yugioh when I was in middle school but I haven't touched it since I was like 12, the game got stupid with all the coinflip opening hand games. Tried some cardfight vanguard but that had bad rules, a lot worse than FoW or mtg.

I've loved a lot of games over the years, like the WoW tcg and FoW and some others, but it seems so impossible to stand up to the corporate backed hasbro giant mtg that already has the market. On the other hand, when good games like FOW sabotage themselves from being taken seriously with anime butts on their art, you kind of understand why no other game has grabbed a significant part of the market. Mtg has been sabotaging itself recently too with imbalanced cards and pushed mythics and such (oko, uro), so we'll see if in coming years someone will take advantage of that.

I like FoW and don't really mind the coomer bait. It can be cringe at times but some is ok. Some day a game will come out that finds a middle ground between FoW's coomer bait and mtg's new trend of putting ugly people on their cards. I like a lot of the art for Flesh and Blood so far.

Notice that they don't have [Energize] printed on the card. They're changing the rules so that the second player always gets [Energize] regardless of what's printed on their Ruler.

Technically they'll be errataing the rulers that have Energize printed on them to remove it in favor of making it a game rule that the second player gets a coin.

I like FoW coomer cards because there's more to them than just "coom coom coom" on a generic background. They work together with the character, Valentia is a very good example of this.

I know this isn't the mtg thread, but this shit right here is pretty much the moment I lost interest in mtg. Here it was, a glorious weeb gimmick that seemed custom-made for me, and yet it was basically impossible to get in NA. It felt like such a pointless 'fuck you'. It doesn't help that WAR is the start of the carousel of constant bans that's been going on for near 2 years now, so I feel completely justified in dropping the damn game then and there. Now I just need to convince myself to sell out of my expensive stuff, like fetches.

Wixoss is a much better tcg, and trying a bunch of different games (and designing some of my own) has been a lot of fun. Trying out keyforge is next on the list.

So your basic card types are Lessons, Spells, Items, Creatures, Characters, and Adventures, plus some more that were added in expansions that I never played with. After you draw for turn, you get 2 Actions to spend on playing your cards, or you can spend an Action to draw another card.

Lessons are your power resource. They originally came in four flavors before they added one more in the first expansion. The basic cost to play your Spells, Creatures, Items, and later card types is satisfied by simply having X amount of Lessons including at least one of the matching flavor. You don't need to tap them, that's what the Action economy is for, but sometimes you have to discard them as an additional cost.

Spells are one-and-done effects, as expected. Creatures stick around to damage your opponent on your turns (between drawing and Actions) until your opponent damages them out or directly removes them with Spells. Creature generally don't attack each other, and they retain damage from turn to turn. Items stick around and can do a variety of things, with the most common and boring effect being to count as several Lessons.

Characters and Adventures are special because they don't have a Lesson cost, and instead require two Actions to play. Both players actually start with a Character already in play, but can play more. They generally either give you a new use for Actions, improve the default actions, or have a once-per-game effect. Adventures impose a penalty on your opponent but give them a way to remove it and a reward or consolation prize if they do.

You win when your opponent's deck is out of cards, and like you said you take damage by milling cards.
>>
>>73550487
Basically. Back in like 05/06 when I discovered the game I found a basic translation of the rules online, which aside from untranslated keywords (and whether there’s a stack or not) sums up how the game played. But there was never a card list or fan site for translations. I just had to buy cards, copy down the text, and translate it word by word.

I’m sure I have the doc of the rules somewhere, but I don’t know where all my translations are. Most the character and break cards (50+% of your deck) are simple keywords and most the rest of the cards are pretty simple abilities. Also google translate would make translation a billion times easier now.
>>
>>73550737
>>73550726

>>
>>73551630
In Aquarian Age you assume the role of a Mind Breaker, a psychic whose only powers are dominating and powering up other supernaturals. You gain control of mages and monsters from the six waring factions and use their powers to play cards.

You play character cards from your hand into the faction zone. From there you gain control of those characters by playing a break card onto the top card of each faction, or placing facedown cards known as Energy onto the character 1 at a time until they have energy equal to their upper left stat, mental strength.

Characters with the downward arrow are Aggressive, and attack you if you don’t control them. Only the top card of each faction does so. You can also play break cards on characters in your opponent’s faction zone.

Characters/breaks you control attack by spending 1 energy, and defend by spending 1 energy. Abilities they have that cost energy can only use their own. While you can only attach 1 energy card from your hand per turn, the most common ability is Charge X, where you add X cards from the top of your deck o to your characters as energy, so resources accelerate.

Breaks, Projects (sorceries), Fasts (instants), and Permanents (enchant creature’s) have a faction requirement and energy cost. To play those cards you have to control that many characters of that faction and spend that much energy.

When you take damage you mill cards into your damage zone, but characters don’t count as damage and get dumped into your faction zone instead. Take 10 damage or run out of cards and you lose.
>>
I love the flavor of Aquarian Age. Instead of being a powerful wizard who casts spells and wins fights, you have to find other people to work for you. Find a priestess, a wizard, and a vampire, mind break them, and have them fight and cast spells for you. Don’t keep their energy up and they can be stolen from you. Reveal yourself to too many supernaturals and they might do you in instead of your opponent. Take too many attacks and your brain melts before your body breaks.

Also the Juvenile Orion manga isn’t amazing, but it’s not bad. Done by the Sekirei girl but pretty dudes instead of Pokémon-but-women. Actually now that I think about it, Sekirei might be somewhat inspired but AA.

>Flesh and Blood
>>73501602
Flesh and Blood are releasing a new competitively supported format called Blitz with twice as fast games, 40 card decks with 11 additional slots for equipment and 1 for your hero. The actual gameplay itself is very fun and the pacing was the only issue which will addressed with the new format. I'm very optimistic about the future of FAB.

Additonally when two people who actually know the rules and the deck they are playing the game can go quite quickly.
>>
>>73556781
Reviewers is NOT a hentai.
>>
>>73557545
I fapped and came on the Aloe figure while watching the BD so ill call it what it was used for.
>>
>>73557530
How did FAB turn out? I saw a review when it came out saying it's horrible because the game's pacing, winding down at the end, felt like shit.
>>
>>73558241
rubbing one out to kitchen tiles doesn't make them sex toys, you know
So... are we talking life-sized Aloe?
>>
>>73560749
>rubbing one out to kitchen tiles doesn't make them sex toys, you know
People said the same thing about a Wii-mote, and I saw my friend prove them wrong ^_^

That seems like a large fucking number. What was the original count?

Are the Alice Origin II booster boxes OOP?

>>73565051
I give them credit for theming all the mechanic names and still making it very clear what everything does, but unless ‘destroy’ is replaced with Made to Climax I’m just going to be disappointed, like that brown wolf that’ll get abandoned after a week.

Talk about blast from the past, I remember when makers of this goddamn thing were still posting here.
Admittedly different "damage" vs different "creature color" is quite innovative idea, I don't think any other card game has that. But everything else is just M:tG mechanics renamed.
>>
>>73569898
I mean, I wish people would just copy popular games and just add a new spin to them. It would be way better than actual reskins that app stores and kickstaters are plagued with.
>>
>>73569941
>I wish people would just copy popular games and just add a new spin to them.
I wish people would never do that and instead find some fucking creativity.
>>
>>73570029
There’s room for both, although I prefer newer ideas.

A new spin on an existing game can make the idea fresh, or revive a dead game that we’d never get more of otherwise.

>>73569658
I need to get that.
>>
>>73565839
I think the figure doesn't quite capture that worn out thousand cocks stare she has in manga and anime, but it's pretty nice otherwise.

I dont even have a discord. I just want a meme gay game damn it.
>>
>>73570844
I guess the devs are indies and run the store through discord?
sounds like a hassle
>>
>>73569815
What a weird distribution method. It seems like the kind of thing that would get a patreon or something. I wish I learned how to draw furry art. I had a friend who did and he makes way too much in commissions.

>>73570815
Darklore pups be cute.
Glad you found the card though. After I forget I just spent $140 on Wixoss I might have to buy some AA for nostalgia’s sake.
>>
>>73570354
What's the best way to organize such a tourney.
We could even have fun with it and have it encompass multiple alternate card games. Like a FoW round, DBZ round, etc

I only play wixoss and a bit fow and I don't know how fow works for games like does it have sideboard and is it a best of 3 match?
I think wixoss has no sideboard, I don't actually remember
>>
More AO4 spoilers
>>
>>73570844
>but why?
1. Running a website costs money, Discord is free (as in 0 cost, not necessarily as in freedom).
2. Running online shop might impose administrative and tax obligations, selling everything "under the counter" does not.
3. The art on the cards is coming from devArt and Furaffinity artists, and was most likely provided for free ("for exposure"). However both communities are infamous for breeding all sorts of drama, it's entirely possible that somebody changed their mind and now wants their art called off or compensated for. Devs are trying to avoid resolving this issue by hiding from it.

Nice. Guess Alice is banking on sacing crystals.

>>73571071
Yeah you have a side board in FoW
>>73571112
Seems like Alice is getting the crystal treatment. Hopefully her fingers dont grow
>>
>>73570990
also the site people use for tournaments is challonge
we would play FoW on untap and then we have to decide between webxoss or the other wixoss formats on cockatrice
>>
>>73571198
Maybe make a poll to see what games should be played in the first /acg/ championship
>>
>>73571256
I'm not knowledgeable on which games are on TTS or whatever, help me make a list
or other games if people are willing to play on skype/discord but I dont think they are
>>
>>73571273
I know FoW got a big TTS mod a few days ago
I think Wixoss has one too
>>
>>73570815
>for cat tokens
Looked canine to me
>>
>>73571291
>Force of Will
Untap, TTS
>Final Fantasy TCG

>DBZ CCG

>Wixoss
Webxoss(outdated but automated),Cockatrice,TTS
>Keyforge
Many people here have actual decks so you could play on skype I think
>Gundam

>Legend of the 5 Rings (L5R)

>The other DBZ game

>Caster Chronicles

also I think making it a multiple game tournament would be too complicated
>>
>>73571339
>also I think making it a multiple game tournament would be too complicated
Agreed, especially since the more games you add to the list the less likely a player will be familiar with all the games.
>>
https://strawpoll.com/vo71yw66q

A true /acg/ fan is a multifaceted man who doesnt limit himself to one game
>>
>>73571366
What about a rotating list
Like 1 week its FoW, next is Wixoss, third is thread choice, then repeat
>>
>>73571090
but I want to purchase without some furfag knowing my information fug
>>73570985
I like the non lewd art too the games 90s art feeling is really cool.
>>
>>73571302
Im getting this one too. Ill use the other as beast tokens then?
Honestly more a collector than player of any game. Like reading the rules, brewing a few decks to play between friends, but love having binders of different games and art.
>>
>>73564854
Aww man, I was hoping to get some upgrades for the two AOII starters. The current W/L has Valentina 4-2 over Pricia, even if we switch decks. But I can get singles instead.

AOIV won't have starters right, you get one from the AOIV box? Aesthetically none are all that appealing but they seem interesting to play, maybe I'll buy one for that sweet, sweet dopamine rush of cardboard gambling.
>>
>>73571474
That is adorable
>>
>>73571339
FF is definitely on TTS. Pretty sure Gundam is too but I don't know enough about the game to speak on the quality.
>>
>>73571302
The wolf at the the bottom means doggo, but for tokens it’s all just for fun anyway.

>>73571440
Yeah it’s cool.

I wish I had finished the AA lackey plug-in I started, but I guess at this point there aren’t better options.
