>Ferrari’s new PU worth ’10-15hp’ could be delayed
>Ferrari’s new power unit is expected to give the Scuderia around “10hp more”, but it won’t be ready before Turkey, or even Austin.
>Auto Motor und Sport journalist Michael Schmidt reports that the “new Ferrari PU will probably come at the Turkish GP.

>“Massive rebuilds are needed. The whole electrical system will be converted from a 400 to 800 volt system.

>“They are talking about 10-15 hp and that could be quite an advantage.”

>But while Ferrari are hoping to have the new engine in time for the Turkish Grand Prix, its debut may be delayed until the United States Grand Prix.

>Explaining that, Schmidt said that there are “problems with the whole transport of it, because the new power unit is considered a transport of “dangerous goods” and everything has to be declared again because it is a different electrical system.”

Uhh... Masterplan bros?

This is why Lewis will never be the GOAT even if he wins 20 WDC's.

Schumacher built his success.
Lewis inherited his success.

In fact, Schumacher built the success that Lewis inherited by those 3 seasons Michaels spent building up the then midfield Mercedes into a race winning team together with Rosberg.

Engines that produce a lot of power at the expense of beating themselves to death quickly.
It was even worse in 1980s V6 turbo era. Some teams used an engine for the practice sessions, an engine for qualifying and an engine for the race and all three engines needed either a full rebuild after a Grand Prix weekend or were worn-out beyond recovery and chucked into the bin.
It was difficult to project when one of those expensive engines was going to die and often enough it was during the race.

The only liveries from the early 2000s (when I was still a kid) which I still remember distinctly and in crystal-clear detail are the Ferraris, McLarens, Williams and Jaguars. It's my recollection and subjective, but I think that says a lot about the aesthetic qualities of the Jaaaaaaags.
And Asston Fartin said they want to revamp their livery for next season. Strulovich should look no further than pic related for inspiration.

Those mid-2000's Newey designed McLarens were such glass cannons. MP4-18 was such a shitshow that it didn't even pass the crash tests and forced McLaren to use their 2002 car for the 2003 season. A miracle that Kimi even managed to make the title fight so close eventually.

Random article I found, a bunch of them exist in French from a few hours ago:

https://motorsport.nextgen-auto.com/fr/formule-1/des-tensions-entre-leclerc-et-binotto-a-monza,163718.html

Charles Leclerc's minor medical problem at Monza last weekend may have had other causes than just a stomach problem, according to rumours in the Italian media.

During Friday's practice, the Ferrari driver said on the radio: "I have to go back. I can't explain it on the radio."

Leclerc briefly visited the medical centre but was released shortly afterwards and eventually finished the rest of the Italian Grand Prix weekend.

Ferrari explained that Leclerc was simply feeling "slightly ill" but the source of the ailments was said to be "very harsh words" exchanged with his boss Mattia Binotto some time before the session.

The tense scene was reportedly witnessed by several observers and Leclerc's manager, Nicolas Todt, also had to get involved. Tension and anger built up before the session. But why?

Binotto is said to have caused Leclerc angst by informing him that Ferrari would focus more on the development input of his team-mate, Carlos Sainz, as the Spaniard's comments are more reliable according to Ferrari engineers.

For now Ferrari has not commented on these speculations but Mattia Binotto had some words this weekend about the Scuderia's situation that resonate differently.

"Ferrari is something unique. The most important thing to understand is that it is a unique family, a unique phenomenon. I always say to my guys: it's more important to be Ferrari than to win, because the wins are just a consequence of being Ferrari."

"I cite the example of Gilles Villeneuve. He was a fantastic driver who actually won very little. But his behaviour, his driving style, his passion had a huge impact."
>>

Kek. Ferrari is certainly in a hurry. They didn't even wait for a good car and/or him winning a title and Karel De Kerk is already getting the Niki Lauda 1977 treatment.

You could argue that it's an image he's putting up, but Leclerc sounds too humble for that. Same for Binotto.

m8 he had the fastest car at Monza by half a second and he scored zero points.

The race before that they had to come up with some convoluted strategy for Bottas so that he could block Verstappen and he still couldn't do shit. They even had to radio Bottas at the end of the race to stop him from doing the fastest lap because Poois couldn't get it fairly. Like he's so fucking ridiculously bad that's it's just embarrassing for everyone at this point.

There is a lot of photos and footage in it I have never seen before and were probably never shown publicly until earlier today.

Check this out if you want a real sovlfvl tv program about Schumi.
It's a farewell show for his first retirement in 2006.
It has everything, good interviews, lots of laughs, many guest appearances like Ross Brawn, Willi Weber and Papa Schumacher.
And at the end there is a kart race in the studio between Schumi, Miga, the moderator and a kid.

Unfortunately for most of you it's entirely in German.

I'll tell you something bros; when I was in the rehab clinic after my accident, the saddest and most haunting accidents are brain trauma patients (and severe stroke patients too).

I am alive. I'm still me, in all aspects of my character, despite not being able to walk. But being trapped in your own body, unable to communicate properly, moaning despite yourself. That's nightmare fuel to me, when I realised those people might be 100% still mentally there behind the injury

Why Seb isn't as appreciated as Schumi? I remember fans celebrated when he crashed in Hockenheim 2018.
>>
>>113337878
Schumi won two titles with Benneton back when they were barely fighting for podiums, then left the car that could give him more championships right away to go to another shit team, and spent 5 years building it back up to a point where that shit team got him 5 more titles.
Compare that to Lulu who won his first title in an already dominant McLaren, by only one fucking point on the last sector of the last lap of the last race, only beat Massa because Glock fucked up and slipped. Then, won 6 more titles at Mercedes after they had already worked with Schumi 4 years building it up from a midfield car to a race winning one, plus regulation changes that made Merc/AMG absolutely dominant over all the competition, and only ~then~ did he win his 6 other titles.
There's no comparison.

for brain trauma patients, I always had (and doctors can probably confirm) the impression that betweenwhat they mean to say, and what comes out, there is a fundamental disconnect. Like, they could moan half-gibberish and get flustered if you didn't understand, because to them, it sounded/felt perfectly comprehensible

What Schumi did when he left Benneton to go to Ferrari would be the equivalent of if Hamilton left the dominant Mercedes in 2015 to go to Williams and rebuild the team to a point where he gets 4-5 more titles with them years later. Icuanon here,
Brain trauma is a bitch.
Without access to his medical file i cant of course say anything concrete but from personal experience and what is known publicly it doesnt look good at all.
It took him months before he showed signs of being awake. That's a long ass time. It's not like in the movies where you wake up from one moment to the other and are fully awake.
He sustained a head injury with intracranial bleeding. The blood pushes against the brain. Imagine the brain as an intricate machine with lots of little gearwheels. If you put pressure on one gearwheel the whole machine stops working as it should. If there is high intracranial pressure the brain has nowhere to go and pressure keeps increasing further preventing the brain's gearwheels to turn, further damaging the brain.
There is only one exit the brain can take to escape the mounting pressure: the foramen magnum, the hole in the base of the skull where the spinal cord leaves the skull. If pressure gets to high the brain will squeeze into this hole. It's called herniation of the brain. Of course the brain cant fit through and critical parts of the brain like the breathing center and the central arousal center (think of it as a sort of on switch for the brain) in the brainstem will get irreparably damaged, you lose your breathing capapbilities and consciousness and die.
To prevent a herniation you can use drugs and out the patient's back 30° uprigjt. Anaesthetics keep the brain calm and you need to control blood pressure to prevent the bleeding from continuing.
You monitor the intracranial pressure by putting a probe in the patient's brain, mesuring it directly in the brain.
Sometimes anaesthetics and physical measures arent enough and you need to consider surgery. You can take the bleeding out of the skull, giving the brain more room again or you can straight up remove half (or even the entire) roof of the skull to give the brain more room.

The brain swells after injuries, further complicating the matter of intracranial pressure.
Now, iirc Schumi got his hemicraniectomy or removal of bleeding three days after the accident. Those cases have bad outcomes mostly because you lose too much time before surgery. It means that his pressure was not high enough in the beginning to justify open skull surgery but instead the pressure rose slowly and they probably exhausted their pharmacological options first. It's justified to do that because of the high risks of the surgery but if the drugs fail you lost valuable time. Time is brain.
After surgery you'll keep the patient sedated and slowly phase out the anaesthetics once pressure is normal again. Then, you play the waiting game and wait for the patient's system to eliminate the anaesthetics and for the brain to resume its functions.
Up to this point it's impossible to make a precise prognosison recovery. You just wait for something to happen, see if they wake up. After three days without any sedatives you can safely assume that any absence of consciousness is most likely not due to the drugs but brain damage. Then you can run some diagnostics, cat scans, EEGs but still you cant say anything definitive.
When the brain recovers, and the swelling stops first the most basic functions return, opening eyes, breathing etc... Basically your brain's gearwheels start turning again. It takes them sometime to run in synchronicity again
Iirc it took Schumi months to show first signs being awake. That is a very bad sign, the worst swelling is over after a week or so, from the moment on pressure is normal again the brain cells couldnwork again, the longer it takes them to the more brain damage you have and full recover is wishful thinking.

Combining all of this with Migg's comments gives me a very grim feeling. Schumi is probably a full blown veggie, maybe he has his eyes open and reacts to certain basic stimuli in a vegetative manner but nothing more
Grim

Looks very grim. Still sedated, intracranial pressure is now acceptable but we expect serious brain damage, both his frontal lobes are pretty much fucked. Will probably get a tracheotomy next week.
The other injuries are "fine", leg surgery is planned for friday. He will keep his legs most likely but will need a lot of rehab to walk somewhat normal again. Bit it doesnt matter since his brain is most likely fried.
Family are devout mudslimes so pulling the plug is out of the question.

Loads... I know motorcycles are super fun to ride but after i saw my first moto casualty i vowed never to get on one again. Havent ridden one ever since. There's nothing to protect you but all the cars you share the road with have thick armour. I used to work in a more rural area with nice country roads, i despised summer back then, so many accidents.
Now i'm in a large city so i get less motorcycles but a shitload of bicycles. bicycles crashing into trams is more common than i thought.

Long but please please read through. Context : Dad started watching F1 in his teens and was a huge fan of Prost so obviously hated Senna. So naturally me and my brother started F1 early when I was 8(2007). I was a Lewis Hamilton fan since then and for that precise reason, my brother opposed Lewis and eventually became Sebastian fan and now supports Max for the championship. But if one of the drivers perform awesome moves on the track, or pulls out a legendary quali lap, both of us genuinely enjoy it and talk about it for a long time. I was genuinely disappointed when Max couldn't race in Silverstone. We had same opinions in both the crashes - Silverstone and Monza. I almost cried when Seb crashed out in Germany. I was still supporting Lewis, but the image of zillion cameramen surrounding Seb in the pitlane broke my heart.

But given the hate and huge division of opinions in 4channel and twitter, I thought we were some higher level people for not being hugely biased and hating the guts of other driver.

But I realised it stemmed from our dad. Today, we were watching Schumacher together and Senna's crash scene came. My dad paused and was like "That was the season, young gun Schmui was challenging a legend Senna. I wanted Schumi to win badly that season and hated Senna's guts. But when he crashed in a crucial race(Imola), my immediate reaction was happiness but the moment when Senna was lifelessly thrown away in the two-wheeled crushed car, I started crying. It's a repeat of Friday. Everyone was sure he died. The legend of the sport lost his life" 2 legends of the sport, Ayrton Senna is no more and Michael Schumacher cannot lead a normal life.

One man on a lonely platform
One case sitting by his side
Two eyes staring cold and silent
Show fear as he turns to hide

Aaah
We fade to grey (fade to grey)
Aaah
We fade to grey (fade to grey)

[Spoken Word: Brigitte Arens]
Un homme dans une gare isolée
Une valise a ses cotés
Deux yeux fixes et froids
Montre de la peur lorsqu'il
Se tourne pour se cacher

I see
My dad obviously has been following the sport before I was even born
When I asked him about Prost and Senna, since I never saw them drive he said that Senna was the more talented and crazy of the two, and that Prost was always getting something out of every race, if he was fast enough to beat Senna, he was first, if not, he was second

I used to hate Seb in his dominant years because I hated Red Bull back then and just wanted Alonso and Ferrari to win.
Then when he went to Ferrari I started liking him more.
Then he went full SJW with that BLM shit and climate change.
Now I hate him more than ever and I am enjoying every bit of his suffering.

>My dad obviously has been following the sport before I was even born
Same for me. I'm pretty sure my dad actually used to hate Schumacher and rate Senna higher, but his opinion of Schumi mellowed out because I've been a massive fan when I was still a kid.

I was driven mad by a tapping outside my window last night but assumed it was a bird or something, heard it again then and went outside to look and it was water dripping on a plastic bin ten feet below. F1 moments for this feel?

It's ok
It really doesn't go enough in depth
Like they say he's great, but just keep repeating he's a hard worker instead of talking about WHY he was that good
Or they gloss over the 2001-2004 Ferrari years, 2005 and 2006 aren't even mentioned
It's really weird
And there's a lot of stuff with his family, his dad looks fucking identical to Ralf holy shit, but again, they don't even go in depth enough on the romance/family man angle
Basically, it's a good introduction to Schumi if you don't know him, just a recap of what you mostly know if you do
I for one, did not know Mika and Schumi raced against each other in karts, Mika said that Schumi was particularly fast through a chicane and just kept doing it well with no mistakes, and realized that right there that Schumi was a genuine talent
>>113340017
Obviously my Italian dad loved Schumi because of Ferrari
He also said that Binotto needs to go back at being an engineer and that engineers need to stop trying to be managers and that Ferrari needs a proper manager
>>
>>113340128
>2005 and 2006 aren't even mentioned

I honestly prefer them focussing on the '90s rather than the 2000s for an introductory documentary aimed at zoomer normalfags. Everyone's heard of his dominant period, but his climb with Ferrari throughout the '90s is often unsung. Also your dad sounds based.

Your dad is a knower, because that is 100% accurate.
Binotto quit doing the thing he's good at to do something he's bad at instead, at the expense of whole team.
