update: it was horrible, the chain saw profile with a big climb in the middle killed me, had to drag my fat ass home at 23km/h. Fucking 130km with 2100 climb, felt completely empty near the end. Lost like 3kg even tho I stayed hydrated. I have to eat a lot more. Hope I can go under 80kg this August.
Miss the days where a ride like this would be nothing special.

Any good sources on bikefitting? Have only been riding for half a year (did 130km around part of Lago Maggiore 2 weeks ago, 6h, longest ride yet). But I had massive pain in my hands/wrists after 3h and my behind as well. At the end of it I was literally putting my fists on the handlebars to be able to continue. I think my position might be slightly front heavy? But I am very unsure on how to find this out and fix it.

>inb4 harden the fuck up
there is a difference between discomfort and outright pain
>>
>>101204569
The only real solution is to spend the 200€ and get a bike fitting done
>>
>>101204569
> Any good sources on bikefitting?
you can go on yt and find good bike fitters that literally give opposing instructions.
the problem is that sometimes the source to your pain can not be traced directly.
you mean back pain or literally ass pain?

Understanding bike fitting will help you more in the long run. You can pay someone if you don't want to learn. If you do you'll be able to adjust your fit over time, as your body will also change over time. Even if you end up paying someone it is good to understand the basics.

I also think that you are the only person that can give yourself the best fit. Sitting on a trainer in the bike fitting studio is much different from sitting on the bike after a 4h hard ride within a 20h training week. So if you understand the basics you'll always be a better bike fitter than what some person can be in a couple hours.

>>
>>101224185
You just don't get it, just a matter of time until every rym brake over heats and blows up all of the pelotons inner tubes and then they smash into children descending the tourmalet!
You don't hate children, do you?
>>
>>101223995
I don't understand it.

Shouldn't bike manufacturers be easily making bikes that weigh under 6 kg, but it's just UCI rules?

They should be able to easily make a 7 kg disk brake bike.
>>
>>101224185
Izagirre was 27 seconds faster than the peloton yesterday, entirely due to his disc brakes (it was a rainy race)
>>
>>101224659
Plenty of disc brake bikes are already between 6.8-7kg

There is a movement to get rid of the 6.8 rule, probably the rim copers lobby so they can continue to justify their existence as they crash in a corner on a slightly damp day
>>
>>101224659
You can get SL6 Tarmac to around 6 kg with a bit of weight weenieism. Getting disc brake bikes to the 6.8 kg isn't really an issue anymore unless you've got an aero bike.

After winning Strade Bianche on Saturday, Wout van Aert asked his soigneur and mechanic not to wash his sweat and dirt-covered Jumbo-Visma jersey and his Bianchi bike, as he was keen to add them to a growing personal collection of cycling memorabilia.

"Over the years I've become a collector of special cycling jerseys. I think those souvenirs are much more beautiful than the trophies you get on the podium. I plan to make a private museum with everything later in life," Van Aert said, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

"I've kept the original jersey with the race number from all three of my world cyclo-cross titles, including the mud on them. The skinsuit I wore when I won the stage at last year's Tour is next to it."

Van Aert is now making extra room for his Strade Bianche memorabilia and wants to keep everything from his victorious ride on the dirt roads of Tuscany.

>>101226292
Ah, you're talking about form. Froome would run circles around Bernal if both were in top form imo
>>
>>101224659
Aero bikes with fat tube shapes are heavier. An absolute unit of a bike like the Madone or Systemsix will never be 6.8kg. Looks like the full blown aero meme is dying anyway. Specialized even slimmed down the Venge last year. Now they are getting rid of it. It wasn't too long ago that we had the absolute abomination that was the Venge vias.

Now with disk brakes even the climbing bikes are over 6.8kg once you add pedals, power meter, cages, computer mount.
>>
>>101225838
I hope he makes it. And I hope he is in such great shape that it causes tension in the ineos camp. It will be much more interesting if that is the case.

>>101226863
The guy has 2 vuelta 4 TDF and 1 giro. For bernal to have a better career than Froome he has to end up as the goat.
>>
>>101177733
Latour and Bardet will left the team. I think the team is switching its strategy. They're becoming a classical/Tour stage team.

It seems based to me, French teams aren't strong enough to win a Grand Tour and the jack of all trade strategy is inneficient (B&B, Cofidis, Total) .
>>
>>101227263
Bernal a better climber and a descender imo, Froome a better ITT. But last year we had a young Bernal won the TDF on his first try, having also won Paris-Nice and Suisse, and we saw him perform well in the October Italian classics - podium in Lombardy, I've just been so impressed by his ability, maturity, how quickly he seems to learn (anecdotally he was told what echelons were in a hotel by Luke Rowe and the next day he was pulling one) so he just seems like such a strong rider to me, I think I'd rather have him than a young Froome to build a career on
>>
>>101227361
Lots of asterisks with those wins. In a few years there will probably be (no winner) in the history books. Maybe he can keep his results from 2009 and earlier, like the zigzagging on San Luca. I wonder if people even remember that first Vuelta, it was a complete laughing stock with Cobo and Froome. It's up there with the Horner Vuelta for most ridiculous GT.
>>
>>101227361

>>101227381

Yeah I think it's over for him. We have seen moves like this many times before (Cavendish vs Veelers) and nothing much happened but if someone dies it's a whole other story. Like if you are whatsapping in your car and hit a pedestrian or just miss him by 1 cm. Small difference in what actually happened but big difference for your life.
>>
>>101247991
He might end up like Stig Broeckx.
Career over for like 95% sure.
>>
As a m.d., a high-energy trauma like that is usually life-threatening and quite often fatal.
Especially with the elderly.

Imagine being hit suddenly by an 80kg object going 60km/u, your body does not like that.
What's also not helping is the fact that he be the looks of it he hit the scaffolding.
Sudden acceleration due to extreme force followed by a sudden instant deceleration.
That's what tears your aorta apart for example.

I give him little chance.

F.
>>
>>101248223

>>101248092

Just did some rudimentary calculations.

Photographer might have endured around 9-15 kiloNewton of force. 7.5 kN is enough force to fracture skull in 80% of cases.

not looking good.
>>
>>101248223
>60km/u
Probably closer to 80 km/h with this finish, although I guess some speed was lost before it hit him so maybe this comment is stupid and dumb.
>>
>>101248245
Assumptions:
Jakobsen weight 80kg
Speed: 75-80km/h
Duration of crash: 1 to 2 seconds
Distance of crash: 2-3 meters (probably conservative)

Conclusion: RIP

I'm honestly not sure what Groenewegen did was that bad - or at least, that it's that out of the ordinary. Almost par for the course in sprints these days. Jakobsen is lying on the asphalt all the time, he's covered in blood. From what I learned, his teeth are knocked out. Fortunately, he is conscious, but a helicopter is landing for him - he told us a moment before 19 Karol Górka, Sport.pl journalist and our envoy at the 77th Tour de Pologne. - Jakobsen is not fit to be taken by helicopter. From what I have established, further resuscitation will take place in the ambulance - added Górka, who was still at the scene of the accident, several minutes later.

TVP Sport commentators just after 19 reported that Jakobsen had been put into a pharmacological coma and that his condition was serious. - The Dutchman has already been taken to hospital. Fortunately, the judge is in better condition - he told us Górka at 19.20.

Yeah if no one had crashed big baby would've gotten to keep his win without a doubt. But the jurys have been way too lenient with changing lines at sprints. Mostly because spectators cry if their favourite guy gets thrown out the race for something that's super dangerous.

Those bricks looks very unsafe.
Imagine hitting head into those.

Hopefully it improves his odds at least a little that it's in the middle of a city, and not out in the countryside. But yeah, not good.

>Here is the latest information from the race doctor, Dr. Barbara Jerschina, who participated in the medical treatment of Fabio Jakobsen:

>"We did everything that could be done. The working conditions were very hard, it is a very serious craniocerebral trauma, a broken palate, so it was difficult to intubate, but the laryngeal tubes and oxygen were connected all the time. We maintained the level of saturation and life activities. The heart was working well, it was maintaining the right pressure."
When asked by journalists whether there was a threat to life, she unfortunately answered in the affirmative.

>"This cyclist is very seriously injured and is life threatening. The palate and the upper respiratory tract were crushed, but he managed to intubate, he went to the hospital, but lost a lot of blood. He is alive after all, he is with us and let's hope we win"

2 years ago fabio jakobsen met fabio casartelli's parents purely coincidental at the casartelli monument on the descent when the tour de france passed ... that was the descent where phil gilbert crashed into that ravine (but was okay)

From the spokesperson at the hospital Jakobsen is being treated:

>At this moment procedures are carried out with the aim of saving the patient's life. Situation is very dynamic and I can't say anything more right now.

it's the hospital I had a summer internship two weeks ago, in the words of my boss "We ought to close this fucking shack". He's lucky if there is an availivable anaesthesiologist and he's not managed by a first year resident.

>Fabio's condition is very hard. There is a huge risk to life. It is a very severe craniocerebral trauma, it has a crushed palate. The situation with the respiratory system is the worst - Barbara Jerschina, Tour de Pologne race doctor said in an interview with the media. The fight for the life of Fabio Jakobsen, who had an accident at the end of the 1st stage, continues.

>One of the judges present at the finish line also suffered as a result of the crash and was taken to hospital. Initially, information appeared that he was in the worst condition, but after several dozen minutes it was confirmed that Fabio Jakobsen was resuscitated. - The judge who had an accident as a result of this crash had his cervical spine secured. He had a head injury with a loss of consciousness. He is in the hospital - added Jerschina.

Oh great, fucking up with the barriers and a shithole hospital too. Great going there Poland
>>
>>101249495
Well Naesen said he always thought Groenewegen was an asshole, but now he knows for sure; this was in 2016 when Naesen was still a nobody and Groenewegen pushed him into the barriers in some 1.1 race (Naesen stopped sprinting, thankfully). They didn't even DSQ him over it
https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/circuit-franco-belge/2016/result

Evenepoel tweeted just after the finish today "They should ban you for life.Goddammit, shame on you!!!" and then deleted it

If youre drunk your body becomes very powerful against impact and crashes because of lack of muscle tension. Now I don't want to claim all Poles are drunks but chances are he was.

Again, the spokesperson:
>Patient is being operated at A&E unit by a team of orthopedists and oral surgeons. His respiratory and circulatory functions are OK, but his condition is considered to be bad. We need to wait
>>
>>101250266
>his condition is considered to be bad
Strong contender for understatement of the year.
>>
>>101250360
it's the medical lingo that i don't know how to properly translate. i'm guessing that it means his life is not in danger at the very moment, but if they don't do something quickly enough it might be.
>>
>>101250452
Fair. Thanks for relaying - didn't know it was your translation. That actually sounds like, mildly positive all things considered, that he's not in "he's basically already dead" state? IDK, grasping at straws probably.
>>
>>101249011
He got a long neck
>>
So..when does Groenewegen go to jail for killing two people?
>>
>>101253636
Just one

Monkeys do not compete.
Cycling is a white man's sport.
>>
>>101223559
Not a complete failure.
But it is sad that he's the only talented guy of his generation and could not do more than nudge two monuments.

Older Gen: Gilbert, Valverde, Boonen, Froome, Nibali, Van Avermaet, Cancellara, Contador

Younger Gen: Van der Poel, Bernal, Evenepoel, Van Aert, Pogacar, Pedersen

His Gen: Sagan, Alaphillipe, Kwiatkowski?

Seriously the weakest generation ever.
>>
>>101254511
Kinda wild ignoring 3 worlds in a row yet still putting Pedersen on the list
>>
>>101249261
Lifelong ban is what they should do.
God damnit! Be ashamed!!!

You should really learn dutch desu.
World language.
>>
>>101254533
I'm not ignoring the 3 worlds.
Sagan is the best of the generation 1986-1994.
But he had so little competition there. It's not a diss on Sagan, it's a diss on everybody else Between 1986 and 1994. They rode in the shadow of the pre 1985 generation until 2 years ago and last year they already rode in the shadow of the post 1995 generation.

Pedersen also had a #2 in Rvv, he's likely going to amass a great palmares.
>>
>>101254533
>>101255197
If you're wondering why there are so many sub 23 year olds performing so well, it's not only that they are so good. It's in large part because the generation of 27-33 year olds are so bad.
