>build a hydroelectric power plant
>the water falling makes a turbine spin (wow)
>it ruins some local forest (literally who the fuck cares)
>these supply ~60% of Brazil's energy matrix
Are we all actually retarded?

Yeah it is retarded

Hydro is an incredible energy source - cheap, reliable unless the rain stops, and simple as fuck to build. This is why most everywhere that can have effective hydro power already does. The future of hydro power is going to be in revamping old plants in Western countries and building a few new ones on the river systems of some undeveloped countries like the Congo River

Hydro nuclear hybrid plants.

the consequences of "green" power plants like solar, winds and rivers will be devastating in future, it will be the actual cause of climate change

Telling us you have never been to Brasil, without saying it.
One major US city metro area uses as much electricity than entire country of Brasil.
Most Brasilians are lucky to have more than 2 fans or 10 lightbulbs.

they have more impact than that because they disrupt water flow and life in the water. it effects everything all along it.

great projects of taming nature are glorious and majestic, human triumph, but it seems it ultimately means destruction and problems no one is really willing to acknowledge.

hydro is pretty much tapped in europe, here in portugal for example we have already dam'd all the reliable places, there is only so many good places to build these, but i guess around the world there are a lot of untapped hidro resources, the problem is, are those located near the cities that need the power, if not you have to build a lot of high tension power lines, that shit is expensive, so, hidro is great and it's pretty much all tapped where it makes economic sense... a better resource that's literally everywhere is solar power, it's the future, solar, wind, nuclear and hydrogen for storage / industry / transportation, eletric is great for toy cars, for machinery, and i mean you won't have an electric combine or tractor anytime soon, it would be dead charging most of the time instead of being out harvesting the fucking crops... hydrogen is the fucking future, the sooner we start investing on that the better for all of us...

>spend a gorillion dollars on a power plant

The absolute state of humanity

The best resource is coal, gas and oil, you just have to use that power to make some export products to pay for them or as commonly done, fund some political chaos in the oil and gas countries and open your financial system to them as a safe place to keep the money. Then you dont have to export anything, just get financial refugees. You can also sell houses which you can tax and buy back after the market bust, then do it again

>build big hydroelectric plant, with a massive dam
>build solar panels and wind turbines
>when the wind/solar is producing more energy than you're using, use the excess energy to pump water back up into the dam
>when it's producing less, release more water from the dam
>laugh as cucks go bankrupt from fuel shortages while you rely on unlimited fuel that requires zero imports

Well when you reduce the number of Europeans you also reduce the amount of exceptional people in the world.
>>
>>15151212
its great until you run out of good areas to dam, which most countries have. And if you don't losing even more fish species, and anything dependent on them.

Pretty cool video I just watched of a company in Switzerland building, or rather expanding, that kind of system.
