If true, why don't metals slowly "flow" under strain? Some even do under special conditions, but e.g. steel does not.

Ah yes, the implication here is the racist notion that blacks are violent animals that will beat anonymous for asking them a simple question, rather than answering as a white man would.

You should reconsider your own racist biases, and ponder the likelihood that the people you accuse of racist comments are speaking plainly, and the idea of racism is your own projection.

This one sticks with me. No natural thing, vegetable, animal, or mineral, is as attractive as a human female. Yet somehow a pencil-drawn, highly distorted 2D figure can be much more so. The japs have hacked our coremost evolutionary instincts, a power normally reserved for God alone.

It actually can in some circumstances. If you apply pressure to your balls in the right way you will be able to see the blood vessels inside your eyeball. Also when you looking at the daytime sky you can see floaters, which are inside the vitreous humor of the eye.

Anime designs are highly optimized abstractions of what human beings prefer to look at and look like, including sex appeal. Anime girls surpass most real girls for the same reason AIs surpass most (if not all) natural intelligences. They, unlike us, are unlimited entities. I suppose we can refer to anime girls as Artificial Fertility (AF).

I think its in interesting question to ponder. Considering how drastic seasons are just based on the tilt of the earth, any movement to a smaller or larger orbit seems like it would dramatically alter the conditions on earth. Only 10 miles? Maybe not, but then how far? 100 miles? 20? 11?
>>
>>14735674
>Considering how drastic seasons are just based on the tilt of the earth, any movement to a smaller or larger orbit seems like it would dramatically alter the conditions on earth.
Distance changes the amount of solar radiation received by about 1/distance^2. 10 miles makes a very small difference.

Seasonal tilt can change the amount of solar radiation received (between summer and winter) from 2x, 4x, or some huge factor if you’re in the arctic

>>14735373
>can you prove it?
Yeah the earth’s orbit is not a perfect circle. The difference between apogee and perigee is about 3 MILLION miles
>>
>>14735689
>Seasonal tilt can change the amount of solar radiation received (between summer and winter) from 2x, 4x
Isn't the tilt literally a combination of moving closer/farther from the sun + more/less atmosphere? If its summer time and you move the earth closer by 10 miles, how much hotter would it get?
>>
>>14735689
>This year, Earth will be 91,406,842 miles away from the Sun at perihelion and 94,509,598 miles away from the Sun at aphelion.
Thats a good amount of wiggle room I suppose? Thats about 370 earth diameters.

There are more grains of sand on the beaches of earth than there are galaxies in the universe.
>>
>>14735700
>Isn't the tilt literally a combination of moving closer/farther from the sun
No. The tilt affects how directly your part of the earth is facing the sun. There are different ways of explaining this but the most intuitive you already know: when the sun is high in the sky, it’s hot. When the sun starts going down, it cools down. The sun goes higher in the summer so it’s hotter.

Maybe this is partly explained by atmosphere, idk, but the main factor is the amount of ‘surface area’ that your area is presenting to the sun. Just like when you hold a book at an angle, it appears to have a smaller ‘surface area’ from your point of view
>>

In ball bearings, steel deforms as a liquid under the pressure of the ball. Otherwise you would have the force in an infinitely small area, and so the pressure would be infinite and the material fail.
>>
>>14735732

What do you mean? It has nothing to do with distance, and everything to do with angle.

all is strings, kaku words
>In physics, the concept of a multiverse is a key element of a leading area of study based on the theory of everything. It’s called string theory, which is the focus of my research. In this picture, subatomic particles are just different notes on a tiny, vibrating string, which explains why we have so many of them. Each string vibration, or resonance, corresponds to a distinct particle. The harmonies of the string correspond to the laws of physics. The melodies of the string explain chemistry.
>By this thinking, the universe is a symphony of strings. String theory, in turn, posits an infinite number of parallel universes, of which our universe is just one.

Nothing.

His post isn't wrong if he's talking visible stars and non-visible stars combined.

Remember that many stars we see, don't technically exist anymore. Hence, they don't consist of atoms at this moment.

So if you discount the atoms that those stars consisted of, at the time.

And accept that more stars have formed than we can currently see, you can fudge the numbers and have a technical pathway to saying that there are more stars than atoms.

This is all assuming that matter isn't being created anywhere in the Universe.

I really like this answer. It seems like a good way to bait people into calling you stupid for thinking there are more stars in the universe than atoms, and then spilling this on them. There are still more atoms than stars obviously, but if your opponent needs to take the time to think about it, it displays that they haven't thought about it and you have, so you win. Brilliant.
