Why do I prefer to sit in complete silence now? When I was younger I used to listen to music at any opportunity, now I don't even listen to it when I drive, work in the yard, or play games. I keep my PC muted and my phone on vibrate. In general, sound just annoys me unless it's a mechanical movement like an engine, wrench, etc, or natural. Most voices bother me to an extent too. What is the reason for this? Pic unrelated

>>1257911127
>>12578799Maybe years of overstimulation. I find I sit in complete silence a lot now too. >>12579116Also I'm 28
Do you interact daily with a lot of people for work purposes?
>>12579184Not really, I do landscaping
>>12578799It's probably stress. Do you have a normally sensitive ear?
>>12579192I actually have really poor hearing
>>12578799it's just a maturing process. you no longer need to have your senses bombarded non-stop with propaganda, nonsense, and trash. same thing happened to me, except not just for music; i dont like watching tv or movies anymore unless it's a really well done artistic movie. when you're young it's nice stimulating your senses with music, movies, music, and satisfying foods. but as you get older you start to appreciate finer things and rather have nothing than garbage.
>>12578799Such an underrated game. One of the best I've ever played
>>12579223Yeah it's great, first game I played on PC
>>12579211OP here, yeah it's same with any form of media
>>12578799Same, as I came upon this thread I was already sitting in silence in my room for an extended period. I regularly commute to work now with nothing playing on the car stereo. I know it isn't me turning schizo because I still enjoy music regularly, I just want to be able to concentrate when reading and/or writing, which I am doing more of these days and music distracts me from those.A counter-example from this morning was putting on an old techno album I like when commuting to work in the early morning, used intentionally as agreeable pump-up music to prepare for the shift.
>>12579223>>12579225I'm sure it's great, but it's too bad about that shitty western furry art.
>>12579357What album was it?
>>12579197Then you could be really stressed.
An old compilation of late 90s techno, Urbal Beats 2. Specifically I blasted Prodigy-Charly which has a very agreeable, major key vamp and some crunchy production. It turns out there's multiple versions of the track, this was the one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSTBFZ-To2E
