Why are 90% of current machine learning real-life applications so useless and almost always about faces? The entire field seems like a never ending rehash of the same ideas over and over again with more GPU power.
>>12578615They aren't, this is just the shit they make to convince thots to put a keylogger on their phone
>>12578615Because that crap is the only crap that interests normies and big money.
many neural net ideas and architectures are derived or mimic low level areas of the visual cortex. they are well suited for vision tasks.
>>12578638>>12578645Let's talk about Teslas then, at this point is pretty clear that computer vision has hit a ceiling a long time ago because those cars are not getting smarter, they are stuck. So no matter how much GPU power you attach to that model, it won't learn anything critical anymore.
>>12578615blame biz majors who flooded data science. They can only do applications and monopolized the field. Theory has stalled for at least 5 years.
>>12578615Industry demand. It’s why most applications are in Computer Graphics
They want to eliminate actors. Hollywood will save a huge amount of money by cutting them out of the loop. The irony is that once this software get to the point where it can generate believable humans, Hollywood's stranglehold on propaganda will be broken. Currently it is next to impossible to get a movie made if it doesn't fit (((Hollywood's))) primary narrative. The rare movies that do get made such as Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' are very narrowly focused. All of this will change when AI/ML/hello world, is able to produce synthetic actors that anyone can direct.
>>12578615Machine learning is used by google Facebook Microsoft and more. You just don't see it and just see the YouTube recommendation or the Google translate results. The visual stuff is the stuff you notice.
>>12578615It's the future of designing advanced materials. Look up the Materials Genome Project. Many publications in this field.
>>12578615>almost always about facesHoning facial recognition software.
>>12578717Hollywood decides what movies get made because Hollywood has the money. It won't make a lick of difference.
>>12579008When you only need a $1000 gaming PC to make a movie, it won't matter how much money Hollywood has. Every church, social group, middle school, sports club, and even every motivated individual will be able to make their own movies. Most of them will be crap but people with talent will be able to make whatever movie they want without bending a knee to Hollywood and changing everything to be whatever the studio wants. People like you who think along narrow linear paths get stomped in the face by the hobnailed boot of history progressing through.
>>12579086What exactly changed, here? You can already film your sisters tea party with her dolls in the back yard.
>>12579086We get it, you want to make a movie. No one cares.
>>12578717Actors have the rights to their likeness, and i assume laws will be drafted so that the ownership of their likeness will be inherited and possibly sold off if it becomes a problem
