ok questions1) is pathology just a meme specialty for brainlets??? like is there a specialty that nobody wants and people just have to do it?? except like two freaks who do like it? not being mean just am IMG med brainlet and will get shit match2) why the fuck did you go into this career fr like what was the point ?
Sup /med/ I got my BSc in July but I can't start the masters/residency until February of 2022, due to COVID this was the first available spot unfortunately. Is there anything I can do to make myself more competitive when I finally get my masters degree? Because of this I'll be 27 when I become a doctor and my end goal would be to teach at the medical faculty here. I work as a research nurse at the cardiology right now and also do some nightshifts as a nursing assistant at the COVID department.

hey guys, premed here. im taking ochem next sem with a prof whos supposed to be really tough. any tips on passing with an a? cheers!
>>12323388I like LotR a lot but I'm a sucker for sci-fi. My residency was bretty good, I wish I had known beforehand that people saying surgical residencies are incredibly hard and time-consuming were just espousing brainlet propaganda. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot and got some really incredible OR experience. I'm taking a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship next year.
>>12323408My main problem isn´t the 3D visualization but that our anatomy professor keep asking shit you barely find in ANY textbook at all.

>>12323461Yeah I'm familiar with Europe. You should do maxillofacial instead.
>>12323439Not joking. However, my Uni really emphasizes on anatomy as a knock out subject. Older textbooks are even better than modern ones because they are more detailed than modern ones. In modern textbooks important sections of the head like the fossa pterygopalatina aren´t described really in detail.Old textbooks from like the 90s are way better. (For example Waldeyer wrote a really good one in German).>>12323485>You should do maxillofacial instead. You mean like going into a surgical career? REALLY time intensive over here not really worth it.
>>12323418Watch some rxn mechanism videos so you have an idea of what all the skills are eventually building towards. There's a lot of little details you have to learn before you can understand bigger picture chemistry, remember that the point of the class is to learn how molecules are built and to develop molecular intuition. Also, the sooner you expose yourself to functional groups and IUPAC nomenclature, the better off you will be.

If I'm an MD with some basic work experience for a couple years that want to find some job as a not-MD that still have some requirement and use for my credentials. What work titles should I search for? So far I've found Medical advisor and Medical/Patient liaison which seems match expectations. What other search terms and titles should I search?

>>12326470This, the consult firms don't really care about your specific experience or skills, though many people still work in projects related to medicine, instead they hire MDs because a MD is a great filter.

>>12326533Well, my life as an unemployed MD with an uncertain future is pretty depressing too. The savings I had are long gone and I'm not sure how to re-enter any kind of working life because my options are pharma and consulting yet my previous work experience is all in geriatric hospital work. I spent a huge amount of time and money to get a degree that I hate that is at the mercy of government paper flippers that offer no solutions to my paperwork issues, just more problems.

Yesterday i got Paronychia diagnosis by a doctor.recently according to her, they have a new approach in how to cure it better, i was tasked to buy a bottle of ASOL, a box of compresses and tape. I was to soak the compress with the Asol and keep in on my finger for 1 day, if it didn't improve i will get Heracillin(antibiotic) and use it 3 times/day for 10 days or until fully cured. If that doesn't work i was issued to come back and they are gonna poke it.Now my question is, before this new path they would give you antibiotics day 1.I guess they don't want me to get resistant germs, but is it really that common though? Do people eat way too much antibiotics?

>>12340073>10mg Percocet every 3 hours instead of every 4 hours without exceeding the daily max?every 3 hours means 8 dosesevery 4 hours means 6 doseshow do you plan on not exceeding it exactly

>>12340099>>12340073This is a pain management guide from a hospital. The subject is delivery during pregnancy but it shows every 3 hrs with 10mg is safeThe real worry with opiates is longer term with people who have chronic pain.

It was during my angiology rotation so we left the living corpse to the infernal medicine drones and fuck off from there. Most procedures are done with an sterile rag on top so you kinda detach the limb/tissue away from the patient and treat it as a unit instead of part of someone's body. It honestly doesn't take any kind of special person to do this.

There's plenty of shitty doctors in my country.Do you think it's a good idea to learn some stuff about medicine, as much as I can while doing a completely unrelated degree, or would I just be needlessly setting up Dunning-Kruger traps for myself and becoming THAT patient?

I'm a new Physician Assistant whose just started in a hospital urology position (wasn't my first choice but I took what I could due to covid impact on the job market, so far coworkers seem pretty stellar). First off what do you guys like/dislike about midlevels (specifically PA's)? Any advice on this urology gig?

>>12323512>my Uni really emphasizes on anatomy as a knock out subject. Which uni, just curious?>In modern textbooks important sections of the head like the fossa pterygopalatina aren´t described really in detail. It depends, the standard ones like prometheus or sobota are lacking especially when it comes to cranial structures. The duale reihe seems to offer better insight in some topics, but maybe you could give some insight into what level of detail we are talking about? Also you're in germany, don't get to hung up about the first four semesters, most of the retarded pet peeves your profs have about their respective fields don't matter much after the exam.

Someone please answer my questionI have an std sti but I don’t have health insurance. My symptoms are gynocomastia, swollen testicles and watery semen. What do you think I have, pls help and ty.
Guys, got a problem. I was pretty sick in the beginning of this year and had to sit around all day. Then Corona made me sit around even more for work.I get weird symptoms sometimes, heart racing, chest pounding, pain on my upper spine (not extreme), crazy hard muscles around some vertebrae, panic attacks that last for half an hour or so.I'm 99% convinced it's because of a problem with my upper spine. Doctors ruled out the heart and a slip disc. One doctor recommended doing sports, so I did that, but last time I did pull-ups, my heart started pounding again and I heard it beating extremely loud in my left ear. What the fuck is going on?

What are the meme ilness in your countries? I mean things that are called X even if there is no such pathology?Over here in Italy people say "cervical" (in italian), which can be an headache, a pain at the back of the head, or the neck, or the upper back, not an actual pathology, still wildly used.
>>12348191Have you been having too much onions milk and tofu? But seriously, ask a real doctor. If you don't live in some third-world hellhole the government will pay for it. If you do, well, that sucks but there's still not much we can do for you.
