1) is pathology just a meme specialty for brainlets??? like is there a specialty that nobody wants and people just have to do it?? except like two freaks who do like it? not being mean just am IMG med brainlet and will get shit match

2) why the fuck did you go into this career fr like what was the point ?
>>
Sup /med/ I got my BSc in July but I can't start the masters/residency until February of 2022, due to COVID this was the first available spot unfortunately. Is there anything I can do to make myself more competitive when I finally get my masters degree? Because of this I'll be 27 when I become a doctor and my end goal would be to teach at the medical faculty here. I work as a research nurse at the cardiology right now and also do some nightshifts as a nursing assistant at the COVID department.

hey guys, premed here. im taking ochem next sem with a prof whos supposed to be really tough. any tips on passing with an a? cheers!
>>
>>12323388
I like LotR a lot but I'm a sucker for sci-fi. My residency was bretty good, I wish I had known beforehand that people saying surgical residencies are incredibly hard and time-consuming were just espousing brainlet propaganda. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot and got some really incredible OR experience. I'm taking a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship next year.
>>
>>12323408
My main problem isn´t the 3D visualization but that our anatomy professor keep asking shit you barely find in ANY textbook at all.
>>
>>12323418
Organic chemistry is easier than general chemistry, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's literally just legos.
>>
>>12323430
Like what? I find it hard to believe that German textbooks are that bad, it's not like anatomy gets updated with new knowledge every year
>>
>>12323424
>I like LotR a lot but I'm a sucker for sci-fi.

At first I wanted to shit on you but I then I thought, maybe you are just more into Sci-Fi and as long as you think the new movies are shit this is completely fine.

>but I learned a lot and got some really incredible OR experience. I'm taking a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship next year.

Really cool Anon hope you keep doing that great! Still in my pre hospital phase for dentistry in Europe (dunno how it works in the US exactly but we have like a pre and in hospital phase in our training)
>>
>>12323461
Yeah I'm familiar with Europe. You should do maxillofacial instead.
>>
>>12323439
Not joking. However, my Uni really emphasizes on anatomy as a knock out subject. Older textbooks are even better than modern ones because they are more detailed than modern ones. In modern textbooks important sections of the head like the fossa pterygopalatina aren´t described really in detail.
Old textbooks from like the 90s are way better. (For example Waldeyer wrote a really good one in German).

>>12323485
>You should do maxillofacial instead.

You mean like going into a surgical career? REALLY time intensive over here not really worth it.
>>
>>12323418
Watch some rxn mechanism videos so you have an idea of what all the skills are eventually building towards.
There's a lot of little details you have to learn before you can understand bigger picture chemistry, remember that the point of the class is to learn how molecules are built and to develop molecular intuition.

Also, the sooner you expose yourself to functional groups and IUPAC nomenclature, the better off you will be.

If I'm an MD with some basic work experience for a couple years that want to find some job as a not-MD that still have some requirement and use for my credentials. What work titles should I search for?

what country are you talking about?

>>
>>12326533
Well, my life as an unemployed MD with an uncertain future is pretty depressing too.
The savings I had are long gone and I'm not sure how to re-enter any kind of working life because my options are pharma and consulting yet my previous work experience is all in geriatric hospital work. I spent a huge amount of time and money to get a degree that I hate that is at the mercy of government paper flippers that offer no solutions to my paperwork issues, just more problems.

if it's beetus

>feeling tired after eating

but really both can only be confirmed by lab testing(urine analysis for the former, blood glucose for the latter)
>>
>>12326648
Hmmm
Well I do piss often but I drink a fair amount of liquids quick
Everytime I need to piss I do end up pissing
No pain or itching when taking a leak so maybe no infection
Define excessive thirst do I feel like I’m in the sahara in the sun thirst? Because it can go long stretches of time without drinking anything
I don’t necessarily feel tired after eating I do mainly consume junk food

The story becomes more fucked up the more you dig in it.

John Money who pushed the idea of sex reassignment surgery onto the Reimers had piles of prestige invested in it(and his related theories). And being a key authority figure in the case he controlled the spin and media coverage on it.

Long story short he was a gigantic asshole and a lot of questionable modern gender theories stems back to him.

Yesterday i got Paronychia diagnosis by a doctor.

recently according to her, they have a new approach in how to cure it better, i was tasked to buy a bottle of ASOL, a box of compresses and tape. I was to soak the compress with the Asol and keep in on my finger for 1 day, if it didn't improve i will get Heracillin(antibiotic) and use it 3 times/day for 10 days or until fully cured. If that doesn't work i was issued to come back and they are gonna poke it.

Now my question is, before this new path they would give you antibiotics day 1.

I guess they don't want me to get resistant germs, but is it really that common though? Do people eat way too much antibiotics?

taking antibiotics pills in any dose will mess with your gut bacteria so that makes sense

i am not sure why you wouldn't get prescribed local anitibioticum to apply to the finger though?

Genuine question, what if I take a fertility treatment (gonadotropin) without actually having fertility problems? Will I just get larger balls and shoot bigger loads?
>>
>>12331000
there is a hormone in the brain called gonadotropin releasing hormone which will be inhibited by you taking gonadotropin based on a feedback loop

so bigger loads in the beginning, then back to normal and then if you stop - smaller loads

It depends, the standard ones like prometheus or sobota are lacking especially when it comes to cranial structures. You may also want to have a clear definition of what you consider as "suffice". Lecture+ anki grind may be enough to pass the exam or have a good grade but not so much to store rationalized information to further use into your clinical curriculum.

Guys, got a problem. I was pretty sick in the beginning of this year and had to sit around all day. Then Corona made me sit around even more for work.
I get weird symptoms sometimes, heart racing, chest pounding, pain on my upper spine (not extreme), crazy hard muscles around some vertebrae, panic attacks that last for half an hour or so.
I'm 99% convinced it's because of a problem with my upper spine. Doctors ruled out the heart and a slip disc. One doctor recommended doing sports, so I did that, but last time I did pull-ups, my heart started pounding again and I heard it beating extremely loud in my left ear.

What the fuck is going on?
