2votes>It's just you>California>Gun>Comfy van>Behind youYou take a breath of the fresh California air. It's just now hitting you. That you've ditched your "home"; everyone you knew and loved. All to come here by yourself. Although you took a little something when you left home. Your family's heirloom rifle sits in the back of your comfy van. A gift from your dead father. Passed down from his own father before him. They used to tell you as a kid he died in a boating accident. But after his funeral you could feel something watching you. You used to sleep with your blankets clinched tight to your face, barely breathing. In case the thing decided to... well you don't know what it would do. You remember how you felt with it hovering in the shadows behind you. Watching your every move. Just over your shoulder. When you would come home to find chairs perfectly balanced upside down. TVs, the heavy ones, even the damn radios upside down. You remember that because your foster parents gave you spankings. They accused you of playing a prank. They weren't nice people, not bad people. Just not nice. Now that you're grown it almost seems like a bad dream. But you know what you felt back then. It's that fear that drives you on this adventure. To prove to yourself that either it didn't exist or that you could understand it, confront it. But for now you have to find a way to get food, parking, etc. You're in a small town where locals have been making reports of unexplainable events and sightings. It's not exactly clear what you're looking for. The newspapers and articles are all vague and non descriptive so far. >Preparation PhaseHealth [3/3]Stamina [3/3]Hunger/Thirst [3/3]No buffs or debuffsPossessions Gun (Very good condition)Ammo [60/120]Van (Good condition)Gas 0%Storage Slots [1/10]Money (20$) StatsPerception 1 (How well you can distinguish things from out of the ordinary. [Investigation Phase] Moving into [Stress Phase]With your van out of gas you track the rest of the way into the city. Passing by the town's sign "Furnace Creek; Population 2000" as you enter a dinner you get stares. You had hoped to gather more information on your target here. Possibly overhearing some gossip or getting to talk to a local. You sit down at a table, waiting for a waitress. Instead you sit waiting and feeling like a idiot until one of the locals comes by your table. He seems like trouble, but you decide to oblige him a little. You introduce yourself "Hello there sir, names Marley, Marley buzz." he spits on your shoe. You fight the urge to knock his lights out. You wouldn't be able to win if they all ganged up on you and you left your gun in your van a few miles back. "Now ya butt fucking faggot youra gonnin get out of here ya gotz it? We don't take so kindly to city slickin fags like yourself round here." the man says with a drawl. You almost can't believe what a massive prick this random stranger is being, but you can feel your muscles tensing up and your skin gets warmer by the second. You get to your feet shoving him a few feet in the process and moving for the door. Your jaw locked tight as you clench your teeth and your head light. The man says something else as you turn to leave but you don't quite catch it. Intelligence 0Wisdom 0Suddenly your patience wanes at what you assume to be a snide comment and you turn around 1d2=2+1 Ability + 1 Dexterity Overflow CriticalPunching him in the jaw. He takes a few stumbled steps back, but starts looking at you with a little more respect. He leans on a dinner table for support as you turn. Without anymore words you turn and leave. As you exit the dinner and hear the ring of the door and mutters of the diners you track down a store. Stopping at it to shop for a flash light. Money (20$) - 12$ = Money (8$)+[Irritated]-{More likely to act impulsively or aggressively} The guy ripped you off, but you needed a light bad enough you choked the acid in your throat down. Better to spend twelve bucks now then get mauled to death or trip and break your nest in the forest investigating. When you reach your van you don't have much success trying to decipher the vague papers you kept when you left utah. Actually some of them are even torn from your sister trying to throw them away. Cryptids aren't exactly Mormon after all. Sun dipping below the horizon you get ready to search for a cryptid. Securing the flashlight you bought on your rifle with some duct tape you had. Keeping a few loaded magazines anywhere you can fit them. 0/100 Stress Phase+1D25=1818/100With your gun in hand you trapeze throughout the forest. Using your flashlight at the lowest level possible. Trying to avoid drawing anything to you. But at the same time needing it to see much of anything. (1d20 critical for encounter)1D20=10 No encounter, Hints/Clues foundAs you scan the tree lines 1D2=1You start to feel a little more comfortable handling your firearm. However you don't feel like you've quite developed the skills that are necessary to handle it with expertise. That being said you remain a little jumpy. Roll for heavy stress phase 1D2=2The forest's usual noise suddenly dies. As if all sound was leeched out of the world through a bleeding wound. The only thing you can hear besides your own feet cracking twigs underfoot and pushing grasses out of the way is your heart's thudding. Now thumping in your chest with a frenzied BAMP HAMP BAMHP. 18/100 Heavy Stress Phase1D10=9 (Near encounter) 18/100+2038/100You start to feel sleepy. A warm fetid wind brushing against your face. Your gun almost slips from your hands as your eyes struggle against a force like gravity. However as you slump to the ground, supernaturally tired you push yourself to not succumb. Having prepared for this moment your entire life. You grab a fistful of dirt steadying yourself and pushing up with all your might. Noodle arms pulling your rifle to bear.Pointing your rifle and light into the forest you don't see any creatures. But having been watched your entire childhood you know a pair of peepers when they're on you. And you can feel them out in the darkness. But whatever's out there makes no moves. You slowly back up, keeping your light on the dark patches of trees. Although you don't feel much safer with just another set of similar such trees behind you anyway. For all you know you could just be freaking out for no reason. But a pit in your stomach tells you to not make any sudden moves and to keep that damn flashlight on the specific treeline the disgusting winds are drafting from. Eventually you make it back to your van, somehow finding your way through forests at dark. But you don't feel very safe as you try to fall asleep.+[Tired]Before you know it the warm rays of dawn peek through your vans windows.

Maybe it's because of the punch or maybe it's because they've decided you might be here to stay. Either way you buy a cheap meal at the dinner. It's surprisingly empty for how crowded it was when you got here. You greedily scarf down the eggs, bacon, and waffles you ordered and quickly leave after paying. Making sure to pay attention to any of the locals that might fit the bill for a friendly outcast. But none really catch your eye. Once you get to your home on wheels you prop your gun across your chest and sleep on the shaggy carpeting. A pleasant lilac of one of your sisters friends still in the material. Vote Tally [1] MINOR COSMIC ALIGNMENT (E$#@#$#@)[2]VIOLATION OF CASUALTY (L@#!@#!@) (Auto)[2] Bites (Auto)[1] Bullet wounds[2] You have a longing in your heart, follow it. (Auto)[1] You have a bubbling in your gut, how could you have been killed and left out here?![1]Go stumbling into town (Roll win)[1]Find your possessions[1]Stalk hikers>VIOLATION OF CASUALTY (L@#!@#!@) >Bites >You have a longing in your heart, follow it. >Go stumbling into town Beyond your undead mind is a rolling storm, the beating heart of it's center a evil of unknowable parturitions. It sheds forth millions of spawn randomly flung in whichever direction. Seeking out your presence as you have stained the very fabric of casualty itself. Rising from your grave against any and all odds. Defying death itself. What commanded you from the grave? >Write-In But such a thing is not apart of your worries as you drag your broken body to your hearts longing and then the town. Furnace creek it's called. The feeling in your chest draws you to a van just outside of the town itself. Rolled over into a ditch and covered with vines and green growth. You open the doors and can't find your gun. Your hands dig into the metal, bending it with the depth of your emotion. You turn your back having secured your van. Now sprinting in the direction of the town. The sounds of dogs barking and baying in the distance. (Moved into stress phase, write in three actions. And preparations if you have any.)
>>5616533>What commanded you from the grave?Something dwelling deeper under the earth.>write in three actions1. Load and clean gun2. Slow down and move more quietly3. Go towards the barking and baying
For clarification on what's going; on that critical failure you guys rolled with the townspeople caused them to lynch you. You auto failed your wisdom and intelligence check so you weren't informed and they got you in your sleep somewhere along the line to here.
Also since I'm under a crunch right now I'm to discontinue the quest if it doesn't receive 4 response by lets say midnight tonight 12pm-1am.
>>5617240We had a 1-in-6 chance of being lynched out the gate? Uh... Alright. Well, we came looking for the supernatural and, hot damn, we found it.
>>5617243>minimum 4 votes>Quest has a messy start, went dead for a few daysWelp, gg.
>>5617249yep also messy start?>>5617246yeh its like the reverse of plot armor
>>5616533>What commanded you from the grave?Vengeance. Raw righteous fury. That beautiful Mopar shaggin wagon didn’t deserve such an ignominious end. Also they killed us which is a bummer, not to mention they stole our favorite commie battle rifle. These sons of bitches must pay.>Actions1. Try to be quieter/stealthier2. If anyone does find us kill the fuck out of them we’re undead surely we have some kind of powers3. Remember how we died so we know who to slowly dismember to get our SVT40 back
