You are Sidridijika [The Harbringer of Miracles] the white Magus, a crystal dragon. A young one, hatched in the early spring four months ago. Not a wyrmling anymore, but still far from adulthood.
Your defining features are your Arcanic affinity; the legacy of your draconic ancestor, your Presence; inherent to your crystaline blood, and Strategy prowess, developped since you are an hatchling thanks to a cabinet filled with miniatures of soldiers from all the world's armies and a book detailling their forces and weaknesse; gifted reluctantly by your Mother.
You started a conflicting relationship with your litter. However, circumstances made you closer as you had to team up to survive the dreaded dragon hunters, which killed Father. Now you only have your prized crystal necklace as a memento: an extraplanar space you can fill with your own things, allies, or even unwilling enemies after an arcanic push.
What about Mother? Well, let's not talk about Mother.
Now you have bounded as a pack with Verthicha (The Mountain), the hard headed and tough fighter emerald dragon, Throdenslemoni (Of Many shapes), the cunning and tinkering Amethyst dragon and Wanotreyxkaiv (The Princess), your favorite, alchemy-gifted, fighting-deficient, mind-reader favorite sister.
You luckily found really fast a location suitable for a lair worthy of your Pandraconium : a fallen dwarven hold, invaded with skavens, home of a Griffin and her cubs, which now have left the nest.
You drive out most of the skavens, with the help of chaos warrior you tricked to fight for you until their death, and nearby humans lead by a knight named Hector, then become friend with the monster of the third floor.
You are slowly tuning it to your taste and need, with the crafting of the three-moon astrolabus and Ligth staff, boosting your divination and magical prowess.

Hector tamed one of the griffin cub, named it Vaillant, and went on his own adventures while your larder was filled to the brim.
You then acquired your first inhabitant, an human girl named Agathe you healed from a condition crippling her mental abilities.
Troubling your new calm, an elven squad was swiftly disbanded before a whole army came knocking at your door. The elven prince made diplomatic excuses, giving you elven runes secret and tutelage of a dragon which conduct the name-granting ceremony.
In the meantime, Hector put himself in deep trouble and you mounted a rescue operation. Using your draconic knowledge, you gift him a scale, turning him into your Guardian.
Similarly, Throdenslemoni recruited a cunning elve named Edwyrd, and Wanotreyxkaiv is taking care of a wandering broke noble woman, Gwendoline, hoping to recruit her.
After multiple more troubles, luck's tide turn and Hector, now fitted with runic gear, legacy of a long-dead king, is turning into an unstoppable force.
He is now leading a squad of knights, big enough to split in two, and his feats of arms already granted him the rank of Banneret.
Your food production chain is started, with a handfull of farmers that moved in with cows, grain, and field tiled by Verthicha.
On an attempt to learn how to craft Hector magical gear, you found an old dwarven runemaster, Borri Ironbrow, that moved in your hold to teach you his ways.
Under the guidance of your dwarven master, you learned how to harvest the magic made liquid of the second floor's fountain. It is currently empty of fixative, but that will regenerate over time.
Your master proceed on rediscovering the long-lost secret of hold guardian with the help of his smith friend Urist.
On a visit to the King Under The Mountain, to try and strike an alliance, you discovered the dwarven elite has falled to chaos. After a stressful evasion from the heart of the mountain, mix of crippling failures and overwhelming successes (as usual), you found an orichalcum smith, Thurmoum, and a dwarven child, Krav.
Trying to cleanse the King once in safety, you were yourself attacked by the chaos force binded to him. Regrouping with Hector's bard Guillot, a powerfull Minstrel, you are working to dispel chaos shackling your soul.
>>
Opening your inner eye, trying not to panic, you channel your light magic. Gathering power from the sun under the lense of your new scepter, laying low, with Guillot's music acting as railing to your mana.
The shackle bite in your soul while you tried to cleanse the King. You're closer to become the two headed putrescent abomination of your nightmares than you've ever been. No pressure.
>Critical success
First, you use the light magic to encase the demonic essence. No more dodging. Then, you progressively crystalize the magic. All of this happens in the invisible realm, but you feel the shadows hissing as they dissipate under the metaphorical crystallization.

The day was long, but you're out of trouble, for now. Time to plan your future move...

>What do you want to do?
Use divinitation to see if we can find places that have more light gems, so we can further our chances of healing the king. Either by making more scooters to help, or crushing them gems to do more healing actions per day. We're still on a timer and the dwarves are freaking the fuck out.

Also check in on the family while we're still here. Everyone okay? Hows Blue andcher new friend?
>>
>>5423192
What does that mean? What do you mean? You mean continue training magic to make healing easier? That could take up to a month anon to reach rank 5. We gonna do this now. Would it not be better to find more gems?

>>5423186
Just an idea, but does dragon blood make for good fixative? Could we in theory use White'a blood for the purpose of enchanting? Would it be a bucket full of blood, or just a pint?
>>
>>5423197

i was more thinking to attune our spiritual resonance with the Crystalscepter and the general holy shine our sncturay has to maybe reduce the DC further.

Though if something like that is not possible then getting more gems would be better i guess.

Relaxing after putting the worst dangers behind you, you decide to gaze in the future just in case something unexpected happens.
>Critical failure
You're utterly lost. The extreme swings of from most favorable to most defavorable, then back, and back again seems to turn the loom of fate in a messy thready fate. Your vision is hindered, and won't come back easily.
>Condition : Lost in see of possibles. Divination will fail until next Divination critical success
That doesn't really matter. After all, it's unlikely some big trouble is coming without any way to prepare for it whatsoever, right?

---Intermission : Knightposting---
The barge was sailing up-stream, powered by tireless arms manning the oars. The Rhodane river, kingdom's vein and fluvial road to the south, was riddled of tomb king's boat and their skeleton crews.
"Alright lads, same plan. We'll barge into the barge, take control. Once the skeleton are cleansed, we'll split. My squad will get back on the bridge, while Mathias' man the boat to the shore. I'll try taking a second one, and we'll use both of them to dam the river, and continue our road south to prevent tomb king's retreat after pillage. Once we reached the sea, if conflict is still in progress, we're going up north again to continue our cleaning operation."
>Hector's result : non-critical 109
>Mathias' result : non-critical 93
The plan goes off without a hitch. The few sentient skeletons, unprepared, thinking it was an easy looting operation, in and out, 2 week trips, keep losing boats to the well-organized squadron. A tactical operation force, striking lone cibles in guerilla warfare while the King's army, still close, grouped again with cleaning the trapped bones. Notable contributions among the group : Vaillant helped a lot as a spotter, René proved a reliable second-in-command, filling the spot of Mathias. Hector couldn't help but think the proclamation of Knight so early in Errance did a great job to get him out of his shell. He seems more confident, although still really private about his tastes, past and inspirations, he interacts well with other at campfire. Nicolas Martel destroyed a boat where skeleton numbers where overwhelming, always back on their feets, in an impressive prowess where he dived in armor in the river's shallows to get a good footing and bashed the keel. Tyler shoot down all skeletal crows, the communication devices of the invaders, with once again the help of Vaillant. Allen got the best out of his hounds, happy as puppies can be with so many bones, and Raymond contribution to groundwork on how to efficiently block ships made everybody dived a bit in his world of engineering, closing a bit the gap induced by his peculiarities. Under his cold appearance, Gerade turned out to be a great guy, although apparently crushed under expectations of his bloodline while he feels he's just an under-average man; the main thing holding him down being himself.
Last, in a somewhat expected but still surprising turns of events, Boniface awoke to light magic, defeating a towering amalgamated abomination of bones with a cleansing blast.

At first, dealing with boats was the knight's own initiative, but Gallant messengers - knight mounted on pegasus, which Pauline, Hyetta and Claire were swooning over on sight, sent words of praised and proclaimed regal acknowledgement of the feat-of-arms of the autonomous group responsible for cutting escape to the invaders.

Time to raise the camp for night.
As usual, Raymond exploits Nicolas' strength to dig a trench and raise a mound, while Claire cook. The shield and spears are planted to fortify even more the position, while each idle knight takes his guard turn. The hounds do a great work to wake everyone up when trouble comes at night, though.
Today, as often, is a stew. The broth is made of vegetables given by grateful villagers, and the game hunted by Tyler. Claire found out the skeleton's horse still have a good chunk of marrow, which surprisingly improve the otherwise classic meal.
>Trying to know more Claire : critical failure
"What are you doing, Hector?"
Claire noticed her squad leader shifting around in discomfort
-Well... It's a bit embarrassing... A bad habit of mine...
See, before I got a stroke of success, I almost starved to death with Guillot once. And since that time, I always try to pack a little extra food... This is something I do absent-mindly... And I just did with a bowl of soup in my pocket..."

>Everyone laughed at Hector putting spaghetti in his pocket. This does not improve his chances with Claire as Hector really made a fool of himself.

>>
>Interract with Matthias
Hector's ancient second-in-command looks thoughtful...
" Alright brother, what's the bother?
- ... Nothing...
- My friend, I just made a fool of myself in front of a girl I wanted to impress... You can tell me I think.
- ... Well... See, the other day, when you lead your pack to help me? I've been helped before you came by an enchantress...
- The lady in purple hurling magics? Hector smirked.
- Yeah. I need to find her again, man. She was pretty, and strong, and confident, and skilled. A perfect match for my bloodline
- ... You know what, Mathias? Be careful with providential wizard. Who knows how old she's really? Maybe she knew in the mother's embrace your great great great grandfather...
- I knew you would not understand... I felt a link, instantly, when our gazed met! But a womanizer as yourself could not get love at first sight...
- ... Well, I hope you can find her again and everything goes well; but I'm afraid this is not what fate as in hand for you...
- That stings, Hector. Thanks for your honesty, but that stings."

>Interact with Boniface.
"Say, Hector. What do you feel when you use magic?
- A path opened in my soul. I can tap in that well of power when me or my companions need that. You?
- Strange... It's solely coming from my faith... I feel my whole being vibrating, and then I abandon myself and feel the mother's gaze focusing her attention through me as a thread of a whole gigantic sheep's wool through a needle... I'm the needle in that metaphor...
- Anyway, I'm glad you revealed yourself to magic. That will improve your position in the Kingdom, and opens a whole array of tactics.
- I'm never thinking at that, you know. And I'm glad you focus on that earthly stuff. Can you pray with me?"

Hector can't afford his second in command looking down on him. Better nip the rumor in the bud.
You wait for René to relieve himself, and decide to talk, one on one, when he comes back.
Waiting in ambush behind a tree, René comes back, flinches when seeing a shape in the dark, draw his blade.
"Who goes here? Oh! sorry, I'm so sorry Hector!"
And here he goes blushing again.
" Listen, René, I've got something important I want to discuss.
- Hector... Listen, I had my reasons...
- So, see, this was my first time... That soup thing... We all make mistakes in the heat of action... Anyway, I can swear on my honour it was the first, and last, time of my life I pocketed soup. Usually, I pack some bread, or biscuit, or the usual meat slab... Cold chicken is not that bad... Wait why are you taking your armor off?
- Sorry for hiding... I was concerned for my safety... This is why I didn't talked much, for fear of my voice being heard... And of course, the lack of promiscuity such as sharing the bath..."
Well, looks like the soup in the pocket was not the biggest topic she had in mind.

I doubt it, René has been blushing at him for every single action he takes.
She needs to watch out for her shins, Evette must feel a disturbance in the force.
The important question is, will Hector still be the the quickest shot in the west when the times comes?
>>
>>5423716
Evette will pull off a Yoda and spin around with a long sword.
I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to save Hector. If it's a medical condition, the best we can do is use some light healing magic to fix it, and probably accidentally give him back his foreskin. Dunno. We could probably as blue to make him a viagra potion, but he would owe us a favor.

Hector starts mumbling while averting Renée's gaze and staring one meter to his, errr her, feet
" So... This is me. The real me. Renée with an e after the é...
- That makes so much sense... About that hug time, when a part of me whispered you looked like a snack... It was confusing, this is confusing no more "
The dragons and mother be praised, the mumbling is inaudible.
"... Hector? What's wrong?
- Hold yourself, Hector, you're a gentleman. You won't jump on her like misery on the poor world just because she's a girl, right? A girl you estimate very much, with a really cute smile, a reliable one with an almost unmatched precision a sword in hand, a butterfly on the battlefield stinging like the Mother's rightful wrath. Someone that's been behind your back at countless occasion against skeleton, or hound roaming the countryside. Someone that helped you organize and get the better of everyone in the squad; with an innate battlefield understanding you've only seen displayed by Sidridijika...
- I... Didn't really caught that first sentence, but... Is that the way you feel about me? And what's a Sir E - G - K ? "
She's taken three steps back, hand on her sword, back to a tree. She's also beetle red and hold a hopeful gaze. Hector as no clue on how to interpret that.
"Hectorrrrr? What arrrre you DOING!!! THINK OF ALL TACTICAL WEDDING POSSIBILITIES, AMONG EQUITAINE ORRRRR OTHERRR KINGDOMSSSSS WASTED IF YOU ENGAGE YOURRRSELF WITH A KNIGHT ALREADY LOYAL TO DEATH TOWARD YOU?
- ...Are you alright? You're doing that thing again where you look completely out of place... Is the Mother talking to you?
- No! Yes! Hmmmm... "
Hector flayed his arm around while taking a step back himself. Stumbling on a cunning ambushed root, he fells on his back. His jacket flips around, straight to his eyes, emptying the pocket of leftover soup.
Gathering the crumbles of his dignity, A turnip-scenting and dripping Hector decided to retreat from his nemesis, Romantic interactions.
" I'll better go wash myself... And my cloths. But please remember, I'll never pocket soup again...
- Hector... I don't care about soup. What will you do... about me?"
She blushes even more if that was possible, red color descending toward her delicate, holdable hands. Dangerous thoughts, Hector!
-"Obviously, I mean... Do you plan to tell to the rest of the group? Or should I?"
>Renée should come clean to the squads. She's an official knight, so past' shackles should not hold her back.
>Hector should reveal the others Renée is a woman; and it does not matter as Errance is a trial of skill, not gender.

But the longer this lasts the worse it will be once it is finally revealed. You see Claire. And Hyetta. You are not alone in your Errance."

Not that far from there, a young purple dragon flies in circles. There, a new band of knight, or mercenaries. Whatever; they'll get in trouble soon enough. Aaaand there. As reliable as dwarven masters. They fell on a pack of dropbears, those strangely agile bears that moves using brachiation.
Turning into her human form, Throdenslemoni use her innate arcana to slow her fall while throwing a fury of energy bolts. And she gets what she was looking for. The thrill of the admirative gaze of the humans she just saved, just before turning her back and disappearing in the woods with her share of exaltation.
Meanwhile, back at the hold, an elf is bored. His back resting on the door to the forge, cleaning his nails using his relatively-speaking poor-quality elven dagger.
" Say, wondersmith. I see you're idle. Could you make me a new set of lockpicks? That orange-green metal looks like the good stuff...
- Well, knife-ears, it's not like we lack of the thing. But you have to help me for the winds of magic to favor your use...
- You're smithing for an elf! Peuh!
- Don't spit indoor, Urist. That is not really hygienic. Plus, I've already betrayed my king for a dragon; in for a hair, in for the beard.
- That's considerate, I wasn't expecting a positive answer to be honest. And you, puss-filled bag, I'd advise to brush your teeth with something else than a dead rat before talking again in my general direction.

I think I crit failed at least 10 times so far in the span of all the threads.

Would anyone be against searching for light gems, finding some battle field, then spam healing a bunch of people to level up healing really fast?
>>
>>5424954
>>5424954
thing is unless we crit we can heal once per day. And i kinda doubt that Light Gems will be plentiful enough for us to gather in any reasonable amount of time to be very helpful for our current situtation.

Especially with our current lack of Clairvoyance
>>
>>5424959
Mhmm, which is why we should spam clairvoyance until we hit a crit, then go light gem fishing. Maybe we might not find a lot, maybe we will. It all depends on the d100.

>Balance : This talisman rune allows detection of changes among the wind of magic.
>Effect : Glows when oriented toward a source of magic. This can be used as a compass toward nearby mythical creatures, or treasures
Which is why we need to enchant something with the effect rune to help us find those gems. We already have the Balance rune, but I'm unsure of how much that will help.

Not that far from the forge, a dwarven child wanders in a maze of tunnels. A first underground level lead to a fast-stream river with a stone bank, but more steps go deeper in the earth. His ancestral visions allow him not to get lost in the darkness, but it's been the third time he's taking this corridor, and he still can't find the green wyrm he saw fleeing when the white dragon came back to his lair with his caretaker, the blacksmith, the runemaster, and the corrupted King.
No way forward... Unless? The fearless kid dives into a quicksand solely by instincts.
Goldvein Dwarven for Jackpot. This is how to go deeper.
The kid progress for a couple hours, getting lost in the chaotic maze of pits linked to each other in sanity-defying ways. Until the leathery smell fills the last cave he emerges in. The beast is close. Gripping his axe, the kid tiptoes forward. But something is wrong. Amidst the hoarded coins, and maybe an ingot... Is the green dragon... Hugging plushies? They're crude, and made with locally-sources materials, but why is the green abomination napping on them? And, more important, why does it seems so comfortable, and Krav wishes hard he still had his small and soft dwarf with a dulled axe, for obvious safety reasons, and a beard made from hairs of his own mother?

Really? I was under the impression that the crits were because of the increased range, and otherwise would only happen on a 1 or 100.

>>
>>5425410
I know, that's excatly what I said, he is a geomancer, so he has no need for the wind crystals he is creating due to being a green dragon.
Thread 1
"The feeling of wind on your head and wings is amazing. You've got a minor affinity to the element, after all.
Not as much as your dense emerald brother, but still more than all the family, progenitor included."
Last thread
>Lower DC for wind magic
Wind chimes, orichalcum are a good basis for that one
If only you knew where to find wind-based magical crystal... And have something to gift in exchange

>Amethyst [Force breath]
>Emerald [Wind breath]
>Sapphire [Sonic breath]
>Topaze [Dehydratation breath]
>Crystal [Light shards breath]
>Obsidian [Fire breath]
I think the crystals are related to our breaths, since our little brother didn't get his powers by his affinity to earth, he just failed every roll in everything else and only got that one right.
If only it weren't taboo to talk about each other hoards, we could ask out sisters if theirs are sonic or force based.
I also find it funny that the one with most affinity for wind was the one that had the most trouble flying and ended up a geomancer instead
>>5425323
Although if I understand this chart, wind and earth are not necessarily opposed, and if they were, mixing opposing elements creates a new ones.

QM, can you come clean and explain these crystals deal? I know that you said that you want us to discover through the quest, but I think we are never going to ask about it, since everyone has a different idea and hoard talk is taboo.
>>
>>5425323

Allright, figured it out.

List battle of the three armies :
Dwarf :
Runesmith on Power Anvil
3 Thanes
1 Organ Gun
1 Canon
1 Death-Seeker pack of 18
2 Crossbow packs of 15
2 packs of Warrior (19 + Thane)
1 pack of Greybeards (15 + Thane)

Rats :
1 Bloodfur Legate
1 Swarm priest
2 Pit beasts (Abominable warhorse-sized rat things)
2 packs of 21 Plague disciples
2 Murmillo brutes (big machine-gun rats)
2 21-packs of Velites (slingshots)
2 25-packs of legionars (Cannon fodder with shit metal)
1 30-pack of slaves
1 20-pack of blackfurs (Including Legate)
1 DOOMWHEEEEEEEEL (you know that one)

Vampires :
1 Count, Skeletal Steed (Pegasus skeleton animated)
2 Necromancers
2 Varkolats (horrible werewolf-things)
2 18-pack of barrow guards (well-armored skeletons)
2 40-packs of zombies
1 20-pack of ghouls
5 Spectral hunters (mounted skeleton)
20 dire-wolves (undead wargs)

What's happening :
The three army met a bit before the hold's walled gate. Both skavens and vampire glare each other, but see the approaching dwarven Hueste.
However, they both interpret the dwarven army as reinforcement for your dwarven hold, and start to attack in a pincer manoeuver.
On a side note, at least the three dwarven thanes radiates of the same chaos color than the king, and the thing that attempted to shackle you...
The dwarven army was wildly unprepared to face both of this threats. Their artillery is not placed, and they're struggling to put together their lines.
Their tough armors render the slings almost inefficient, but the zombies, slaves and legionaries menace to overwhelm them before the battle even start.
And the doomwheel is on a perfect course to act as a demolition ball to the squat soldiers.

Maybe we should try to snipe the skaven leadership to encourage moral failures.

Once the doomwheel is handled could green throw up small walls/rough terrain to seperate and divide sections of enemy combatants from their allies?

we can send Blue and Green after those later. Right now i am trying to seperate the Skaven from the Dwarfs for a bit and then we can use our holy Breath to get rid of the Vampire and if the necromancers are dead the Army will hopefully crumble into dust after we destroyed the Linchpins

Factoring everything, inaction on your side will result on crushed dwarves with almost intact ratmen and vampire, that can discuss together mutual goals; You'd have to find a way to prevent this forces to communicate.
Killing Necromancers won't outright destroy the undead army, but at least they won't raised fallen dwarves and skaven to grow their own ranks.

Your brother encases the wheel in a slice in earth, while raising the ground to increase the speed. His plan is to propel the wheeled skaven above the dwarves.
>Green critical failure:
But the ramp to do the proper jumping appears two seconds too late, and the wheeled skaven mow through the dwarven warrior pack.

Meanwhile, Sidridijika flies above the skavens and breath down, cutting the advance of slaves to buy a bit of time...

White got a clean shot on the second necromancer.
Alas, sturdier than it looks, the magical commander of the undead army is not dead yet. The tide of undead grinds the dwarven army, which bad positionning due to the ambush still prevents from using siege weapons. Dwarf lost around a third of their men since the battle began a few minutes ago, at the lowly cost of around fifteen zombies when factoring the re-rising.
Meanwhile, skavens are hesitating going in because of their fear of the dragons. They order theirs slings to take down white - not aware of his windshield - while the Murmillo try to get a shot at your siblings. Alas for the poor skaven, they are overwhelmed by the winged magic incarnated and can't make a clear shot, Both the monsters are still standing, but one of them suffered heavy sonic and slashing wounds.

White continues to Snipe the undead army commander (necromancer). Overfrow damage prioritize other important undead, or just fodder. (-1 or -2 DC for light magic against undead)

Blue, Green, and Gwendoline will target skaven ranged attackers (prioritizing machinegunners, then the slingers), which will make it safe for us to continue to attack them from range and eventually call in the griff.

White uses wind shield to put a barrier around all Skaven ranged units to prevent them from attacking us, while Green will use his earth magic to sink the DOOMWHEEEEEEEEL into the earth, rendering it inoperable.

Gwendoline will continue to use her magic to hide Blue, while Blue uses her psionic powers to agro the pit beasts into attacking the other rats

The dawi are big boys and can handle the coven by themselves. For this turn at least.

>>5426334
Would it be possibly to make enchanted items that can "store" magic? If orichalcum is know for it's capabilities of being enchanted and or holding magic, then it stands to reason that it might be possible to make it store Light magic for White to use Energy Drain on for when he's all out of light juice?
>>
>>5426372
I just bring disaster, not solutions so...
(but I'll keep trying to get us into godhood, with absolute POWER to subjugate any and all adversity so easily that it would be on pair with breathing)

>Mana storage
I don't know if orichalcum will bring an easier option, but once we learn how to replicate our necklace's dimensional attribute, we could always make another staff that, instead of being a "lair enchantment accessory", we would always have it with us, as a portable mana pool, so when we aren't in our lair, growing crystals there, we would pour our excess mana into the staff (filling it with many crystals chunks, or liquefying it for maximum storage efficiency. . . or something.
>>
>>5426334
ignoring the light scepter that increases the Crit range of light based magic, did we build a lair feature to reduce the DC for healing? Like how the astrolab reduces the DC for Divination checks?
>>
>On a side note, at least the three dwarven thanes radiates of the same chaos color than the king, and the thing that attempted to shackle you...
>We know that some of the dawi nobility have fallen to chaos
What do you guys think we should do? Nonlethal take downs and put them in the necklace? Kill? I'm of the opinion we should try to help them....after knocking them out.

As your resident "I don't know anything about Warhammer", is there any chance of some weird resonance occuring if we lock all of them in the necklace? Because if there is, it would probably be better to lock them somewhere, but without getting them near the king.
(also, if the chaos in them is weaker than the king's, maybe we could use them for cleansing practice, to maybe make the king's exorcism easier)

Thanes are more melee focus than they are magic, so nothing bad should happen if we lock them all up in the necklace. We should stripe them of all their equipment, and have them appraised for and chaos taint though.
>>

More than the warriors, I was thinking about the chaos itself, but if you say there's no problem, then let's go with it.

I'm pretty sure the necklace is a original thing, like how the dragons are more DnD like than Warhammer

>>5426548
Like I said to the other Anon, my worry was more regarding the chaos itself rather than the necklace. Something like having multiple people "afflicted" by chaos together resonating and making the chaos possessing them stronger or something.

it really should not do that much. However it might make it easier for the Greater Demon to reinforce its grip if we fail due to proximity. However since its probably already manipulating the Thanes from a distance might make the entire Distance thing meaningless.

At the very least, the pit beast turned their back to the seekers and started attacking the legionaries, and the plague priest took a nasty hit from your sister's spell.

Meanwhile, the skavens engaged the crossbow-wielder, submerging using their strength in numbers. Dwarfs keep getting heavy losses. But the shot at the necromancer disrupted the discipline of the dead army. Zombies continued their course forward, engaging the plague disciple packs. Strangely, the zombies are suffering way more than expected to the strange smoke out of the burning censers.
A few spell are attempted from the priest, but they are dispelled by the spell-eating rune striked by the anvil master or fail to affect the dwarves that settle done the wind of magics.

White does a bitchin swoop and snatch on the last necromancer and drags his ass into the air before tossing him like a ragdoll at the rats.

Only a 16% chance of dying horribly!

>White goes after the vampire Leadership to stop them from raising shit.

Not really, I'm just bad at micro.
In RTS I just make a bigger army and click attack-move in the middle of the base,
Making a smaller army of cavalry to attack flanks and separating siege engines in a different group is the epitome of strategy for me

White is probably the best suited to fight the Vampire and Necromancer due to his holy element. We will have to deal with the Brains of the Undead Army or they will become a threat against us.

Meanwhile, your sister caught eight slingshoters in her Area of effect Noise blast, turning them in red-grey paste. Her guardian, keeping her blast stream of shadow balls, finally took the down the skaven priest.

The battle advances.
An accurate canon shot takes down the doomwheel, and a wide shot of the organ gun grazed the vampire count. Armies are whittling down, with dwarves fighting like demons. Ovecoming their smaller numbers, the other armies are suffering quite a bit...

This is some bullshit. Why do you need to roll Breath to not get the Breathless statues? Can't you just spend a turn to catch your breath. What the fuck.

Fuck it.
If White can reach the fortress in one turn, contact Agathe and ask her to heal us so we can get back to the fight. After we quick heal let's fly back to the war. If possibly, catch your breath too and from the fortress since "catching your breath" is more a magical thing than stamina related.

Green, elbow drop that last necromancer

Gwendolin, use Shadowball on those slingers!

Blue, use psionics to convince the greybeards that the thanes have been corrupted by chaos, but they can be purified.

Griff should spend her turn trying to free herself.

Everybody except you lost : rats suffered the most, with the death of all their command and heavy loss among them, although life is cheap. Coven army was almost anihilated, although skeleton guard and the count are still undead. The best cure she needs for depression is a hug, and a pep talk from her favorite dragon friend. Maybe we should do make her some gifts to make herself feel better? I say we should invest the time to use a nail sized crystal to make her a magic gun, then wait an additional month to make her a scepter. Kit her out with cool shit.

Oh! We could help turn her cabin into a two story building where the first floor is a kind of clinic, and the second floor is where she lives. The clinic would allow her to heal any traders that come by or any of the villagers that get injured. If she practices enough, she could get as good as us.

Normally, I would be very much against it, but it's a dangerous world, so I guess she should have a way to protect herself (especially because we are the one that goes out the most, although we come pretty quickly, unlike lemoni)
But giving her a scepter would be nice, especially if it could increase her healing chances (and maybe something to help her with her water magic as well. . . Btw, even with different elements, could Wano's guardian help Agathe with magic training?).

>>
>>5429587
True, true, but Blue's guardian rolls the same number of dice as Agathe. It's a wizards vs sorcerer issue where Gwendolin was probably tutors and studies to be where she is now, where as Agathe is "naturally" super fucking smart and talented after we cured her of super asperger-brain cancer. If we want her to get better we'll probably need to find her some magic manuals, but I dont trust magic books. Not in this setting. Could have evil shit in them that might try to corrupt you, you know? I think experience and time will be her best teacher for now, second to us.

So, clinic idea will probably speed up her proficiency. Oh another fun idea I thought of. If she does super well as a healer, her parents will probably feel a lot of pride and shame. It sucks we couldn't resolve their family issue.

I see, I see. I guess when we cured her condition, we also unknowingly "unlocked" her brain like Matilda (if you ever watched the movie). Then let's just build her the clinic, and give her some teaching ourself when we have spare time.

>Regarding her family
Well, unlike her mother who instantly jumped into the idea of ridding herself of a burden, her father did at least hesitate, so their relationship shouldn't be *too* bad, right?
But then again, I don't remember reading any specific reaction from them the first time we took her there after curing her (but considering she's still living with us, maybe it really wasn't all that positive), so I would like to know at least what are her father's thoughts about the situation. But more importantly, what does Agathe herself think about it?

>>5429640
It does make sense tho, since water is pretty good at absorbing stuff. If the problem is balancing, just make it be a quicker recovery instead of instant (1 hour instead of 1 day), make it have limited uses like "x times per crystal" and make so that we have to "recharge" it by placing another crystal in when the power of the crystal runs out and it becomes just a pretty, shining stone. How about this?

We needed a crit and no one crited, and the lair upgrade only reduces divination DC by 1. The light scepter probably doesnt cover divinitation in terms of increased crit range.

" Sidridijika? Could you drop me Guillot? The King set up a turnament and I'd like him to record my prowess. "
It's a battered dragon that flight out toward the Errand Turnament held both for the equinox and the victory against tomb kings. You drop Guillot close, still unseen, and go back for a well-deserved nap.
The turnament is the king's reward for Errant : another chance to prove themself...

Poor Hector, got matched with the gremlin in the first round.
I'm cheering for, in order:
Hector, Guillot and Renée.
No cheering for Mathias because he is going against Abelard the NPC, I'm only cheering Hector so he can try to endure the emotional damage the pipsqueak is going to cause him.
I'm interested on the Tyler vs Nicolas match, both of them got 20s on their combat prowess, it ought to be a good one.

"Sir... Was it wise to match the dwarf with the already-renowned Hector of Griffinmount?
- Well, she went to me in person and beg on her knee to be his first opponent... Noblesse oblige, I granted her request. "
Wooden stands have been mounted around a flat field, that will become a puddle of mud by the end of the round. The contestants approach for the Errant's tournament first strife.
As usual, the contest is one of unmounted duel. Hounds, and by extension, Young Griffin, are not allowed although Hector is responsible for that addendum to the guidebook. The field is located near a lake, with the resident sylphs raising from the depth to add a blessing to fighter : both their weapons, and their body, will turn in died water upon impact, preventing any kind of possible injury while still making a scuffle's winner obvious.
Time for the first duel...

" Guillot, I grant you the honor of being the announcer?
- My fair ladies and gentle gentlemen, welcolm to this year's edition of Equinox turnament! I'm Guillot and I'll be your host tonight; We're gathered with my fellow Errant for your pleasure and enjoyment. The favorites for this year's edition are the squad leader, still alive after six months of Errance. First, the charismatic leader, Ulrrrriiiiiiiiccc"
The crowd cheers, while the well-mannered blond man bows with a little smile.
- "Then, the efficient fighter, with an eerie aura, instantly making men swooning and women braver, Juuuuuuliuuuuuuuuuuus"
The skull-masked night is a bit abashed by the jibe, and wave awkwardly at the laughing crowd.
" You'll pay for this, bard
- Oh yeah? You and what army? 'cause let me introduce you on my left, my good friend Mathias! The man have already been granted knighthood, with two of his men, and still proved themselves in the last week worthier than all your sorry band since you left your mother home. Laaaaadieess and Gentleeeeemen, applause for the righteous one, the blade a feather in his hand... SIIIIIR MAAAATHIASSSSS DUBOIIIIIIIIIIS"
Once his breath caught back, Guillot take the stage again without an other look to a death-glaring Julius and a blushing Mathias.
"And, lastly... The one we all know will win that display of wit and mind... His feats of arms too numerous to summarize before Nightfall... Hero of Griffinmount, Slayer of the Regal Nido demon, bane of undead, tamer of Vaillant the Griffin; Chosen of the mother, Guardian of the light, a walking Miracle, my best friend, my brother... Please, for those that don't already know him... The one, the only, the original... BANNNER HECTOR OF GRIFFINMOUNT!"
Guillot, in his blue tights and pink feather on his soft cap, is panting while the crowd is cheering madly.
Hector, a bit embarrassed, still acknowledge Guillot is the man for the job.
>>
Julius got his sense back.
" That's not fair. The announcer is biased, and a participant of the contest!
- Well, I'm not a judge, and I'm the best entertainer around. I agree that's not fair, my fighting performance will suffer from my commentary. Alas, my dearest love is my audience and not my pride. Anyway, first round... Hector versus the most tenacious knight of our bunch... Evette!"
Hector gulps. Not that goblin. Not again.
"Kyaaaa Hector! You're so mean! you didn't said Hello to me, your future wife! But I pardon you, see how nice and patient I am?
- Evette, please. I don't want to marry you.
- You don't have to play shy! I know you want me!"
The children-builded knight opens wide her arms, to welcolm her potential lover's hug, dropping her sword.

Hector steps forward. Another step. Hector runs toward the petite knight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMKcPao7A6Y

A magistral kick, catching the annoyingly high-pitched delusional chipmunk in the ribs, and sending her over the barriers delimiting the fighting space. Easy victory for the promising knight. Maybe Evette will get the message like this? Yeah, the weakest fighting knight can not be a match to Hector no matter the cheering; sorry not sorry loli-anon.

>>
>>5430538
>It doesn't take too long to recover
Well, getting attacked by 3 armies was a bit stressful so White prefers to take a couple slow days.
He's not a reaction to the quest's input channel, he's a sensible living being with hope (surviving), dreams (surviving in good health in a dwarven-knighty city and finding people agreeing to wargame with him), fears (not surviving or Hector wasting his wedding opportunities)
>>
>>5430571
Would studying war games or reading dwarven manuals on smithing be safe enough to do while recovering? Ya know improve skills while relaxing?

The next three matches have Raymond, Claire and Pauline face some knight Hector barely knows the name. The three matches are quickly over, the less experimented knights overwhelmed by the expert's squad members.
Then, Ulric faces Gerade.
Hector frowns as both men whisper some words to each other; words which trouble Gerade deeply. Do they know each other?
The fight starts, and it's pretty clear Ulric got the advantage. However, under the cheers of Hector, Renée, Mathias, Boniface, and Raymond Gerade gathered all energy and dig unsuspected energy.
In the end, the match is way closer than it should have been; the tighter duel of the competition so far, but with a feint on the right, a slap with his left hand, and a stabbing blow, Ulric won.
Gerade is glowing despite the defeat. Hector can feel his gratitude for his comrades in arms, their support in the way of the blade, and help to become a better person.
Comrades with which he feels more and more comfortable, opening his heart and feeling.
>Gerade stated up : 12, 14
Next, Boniface match against the knight appearing really knowledgeable with a nice technical commentary on all origins and subtlety of every rounds.
Looks like the physical penchant of the fight theorician is lacking when Boniface launch his blade to his head, then send him sitting on his behind with a well-placed front kick before pointing at his rival's throat with the tip of his sword.
"And for next match, yours truly, Minstrel extraordinary and entertainer will face the Errant Karolius! What are you saying? No, I won't ask that loud for you.
Ladies and gentleman, I'm afraid to announce my opponent is not a member of that second category, and I hope he's relocated to the tactical position of arrow-catcher in our next battle...
No, that's not normal. No, there aren't a lot of likely-minded people; you're the first and I hope last one I met that's sexually attracted to that. And that's not a way to start a conversation.
No, I won't <<respect your tastes and natural orientation>>. Let me stop this unpleasant exchange... Right now", Guillot punctuated his sentence with three nimble slash targeting inner thigh, flank and throat.
>>
"Allright, sorry for the lack of quality comment, alas one have to do with what one have... Let's forget this moment with our next duel,
featuring the errant that recently moved the King's guard using a captured vessel, Hughes, and my tenacious friend, the succubus bane, the best wingknight one could hope to have on his side, impossible to cut off from our tight pack,
the Succubi bane... Siiiiir LUUUUUUUUUUUUCIIEEEEEEN ANOUUUUUUUUUUUILH!"
That fight is short too, as the logistical and nautical prowess of the labeled boat-knight are not as impressive on land with a sword and shield.
Next round, the skeleton-masked Julius fights one of Ulric's knight, Esthera, and wins by a comfortable margin.
Next match sees Hyetta, the psalm-singin battle-crazed with a surprising strength girl facing Jacques, the older handsome knight with a dent-less armor.
Hector noticed Jacques' skills improve tremendously, or he underestimated him a lot. The fight is won by Mathias' squad member, although it's only a fluke.
The next match is the most beautiful one of the round : Charles, the scrawny peasant turned knight fights the battle-harden Eric. Using his dexterity, Charles wears Eric's stamina with a stream of joint-hits,
where the connecting blade stays metal as it's not touching flesh. One clean hit from Eric would have been the end of the little Knight, however he dodges and dodges again until a solid hit disqualifies the breathless veteran.
Next match, Tyler faces Raynalt, Julius' paladin that opened to the winds of magic. This fight is the shortest of the lot, as Tyler draw his blessed gun and shoot a close-quarter hit turning in red and gray water on hit, still sending the big armored man of the ground, then back on the earth on his back.
>>
Mathias triumphs effortlessly of his foe, and then a really closed match happens between Allen and Ryner. The leather-clad taciturn man wins a hail-mother trade by a split second, after a few passes where the men are seemingly evenly matched.
Then, it's Renee turn to face another forgetable opponent.
"On my right, the naturalist, encyclopedist, dreaming his work will cross the waves of time to teach newer generations, Trayan! And on my left, a natural technician. An artist painting the battlefield red with her blade.
LAAAAAADYYYYYYY RENÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉE"
The crowd cheers, most knowing of her prowess with a blade. Hector hears a few bad-mouther slandering about her luck being in the right place on the right time to claim part of Hector's and Mathias glory.
Hector says nothing and smile confidently, as he have seen at least ten time the scene that will follow. A confident opponent, towering over the small knight.
Either attacking, and Renée stabs with a grim precision in any flaws of the technique, or on the defensive, unable to react quickly enough to the blurry motion without any foretell improper movement, the issue stays identical. An undefeated Renée.
Renée revealed herself to the pack following the awkward conversation in the woods; she's spending more time with the female parts of the squads since then.
Hector feel she's blooming, more confident, insecurities toned down. Hector is still confused about her. On one hand, after the soup incident, all thought of getting to know more the lady knight of the pack have been greatly toned down.
On the other hand, the vivid memory of René taking of his breastplate revealing the soft curves of her chest, her look both scared, hopeful, and embarrassed, still haunt's Hector mind when his soul is taken to the other realm at night.
But Sidridijika seems averse to go this way... And it would awfully feel like abusing authority. And is she even feeling the same trouble, or just see Hector as a reliable man she can open too, without any romantic ambiguity?
The round is over. Bad-mouthers are surprised. Hector is only proud, and glad he can spectate such a clean approach of the way of the sword.
The weight of those last thought prevent Hector to appreciate the last round Nicholas dominated. The presence of a smiling Renée with a couple drop of sweet on the forehead on his right makes them even heavier.

While Hector walks alone towards the Errant, and Renée going to do something else, a scream breaks out from the general conversations
"Greenskins! Ohhh it's just snotling blooming"
Aaaah, Equinox. Turning hills into a mosaic of warm colors, red and yellow leaves, sent of humus and petrichor, time of mushroom, harvest, and snotlings. This is quite lucky, as the little walking booger will get way tougher next year at the same time, matured into goblins.
One committed the fatal mistake of attempting nibling at Julius' boot. The errant unsheeth his sword, a long curved single-edged blade with a round guard, probably imported from the far east at an indecent price, and launch a clean strikes toward the snotling only to see his blade turning into pitch-dark water.
" More fun like this! "
The skull-masked warrior picks the snotling and start bashing the other blooming greenskin while singing with a boisterous voice.
" KILL KILL KILL'EM ALL

" Hey Gerade, that was a nice fight. Close one, too.
- Yeah, thanks. Would had prefer winning, though.
- That pre-battle talk... It made it seems personal... Care to say a word about that?
- Like you said. But that would be against the rules of Errance, and what I want to stand for..."
Gerade glanced at the madman, singing the hymn of his family while wearing the traditional mask of Errance of his family, with a sword screaming so much money it defeats the whole point of Errance and still being the most minor of visible transgression.
" I don't think the Mother would love that song.
- Well, it serves well its purpose as intimidation battle song of the Carnelion family. The legend says that seeing the disgusted face of the singer's comrade is a real moral blow.
- Our thoughts are alike, Banneret of Griffinmount. That's even why I joined his squad."
The knight that intrude the conversation is Raynalt, still covered in the tainted water under Tyler's magically made harmless headshot.
"And I can definitely tell you there is no influence whatsoever of the dreaded Allfather - he spits on the ground at the mention, but that doesn't prevent a chill to cross the three young men - in that boy. He's not a Mother's choosen, far from it, but he mostly enjoys being provocative and fighting. Sometimes, I wonder if the first Carnelion was an orc... Still an useful tool to point in the direction of chaos to turn our Kingdom in the order haven the Mother wants it to be.
- How are you so sure?
- I've met... corrupted ones... before. They walk this path as a road to power, to quench a bottomless thirst. Julius personality doesn't align, and rest assured my hilt will hit both his scapulas at the second I have the sliver of doubt he might fight for the enemy. You're afraid of the mother's enemy? Watch out for unnatural progress. Growth in prowess and charisma that seems unnaturally too fast. Sidridijika should offer Hector an incentive to win, like if Hector does really fucking well, we'll personally craft him a set of specially enchanted armor. Like if he wins and do other cool stuff. "Ladiiiiiies and Gentlemeeeeeen... And you too, Karolius, welcolm to the second round of our Errant Tournament! The first match will oppose our Favorite, the Man, the Myth, the Legend... Hector of Griffinmount! And his worthy challenger, master of logistics and fortification, the pickaxe-fighting Raymond"
Hector raises his jousting halberd, a normal wooden weapon blessed by the sylph. The last weeks wielding the magical weapon turns him more proficient with polearms than swords.
Raymond never won a sparing round, usually too defensive. Today, in front of the King and the dukes, the young man charges.
Hector braced, and decided to not end it immediately. Time to put on a better show...
Hector raised the unblade-end of his weapon, deviating the pickaxe. Then, he steps back instead of doing what he would had against an other opponent (stomping kick to the knee, point his kickling leg behind his second knee to allow a full-body rotation and correct distance, then use the momentum for a beheading strike), Hector prefers to step back while making moulinets. Then, the defensive manoeuver turns into a cleaving strike-slow enough to let Raymond dare a counter-strike, fast enough to present the second end in an impressive last-second parry. Hector steps forward. This third trade will be the last one : a cleave, feinting toward the knees but too short, sliding hands on the weapon for more length the strike turns in a deadly crescent aimed at the throat. The wooden blades turns in a glowing white water splash.

The second round is Pauline against Claire.
Claire send a glance in the crowd to the Baron of Umsfort, then difficultly repress a smile : today she is both the fairy maiden - Nicolas made a joke about requesting wearing her colours if she had some - and the gallant knight, trying to acquire such colours.
Pauline is a serious opponent. But she lacks her greatest strength : her horse. The hours and hours of weapon passes with her father flash before her eyes. Her father she can not acknowledge right now as an errant.
Time for offense. Strike to the head, backhand to the thigh, shield high, shield low. Lunge. Victory.
>>
Third round : Ulric versus Boniface

"Alright, Devout. Do you think praying everyday until your knee bleeds will give you an edge in a real fight?"
Boniface answers the contemptful remark with a nice smile. His eyes turns into glowing gold.
Ulric's prowess, and high-quality gear, is matched by Boniface's apparent prescience.
Ulric steps back, slightly overwhelmed.
"Well-played, showman... Now one quick question... Do you believe you're the only one with the Blessing running in your family?"
He closes his eyes. And open his eyelids on two golden spheres.

"For next round, a fight among brothers! Yours truly will face his friend, Lucien. We fought side by side greenskins, demons, undead. We laughed, we sang, we slept, we bathed together. Alas, my minstrel duties didn't allowed me to practice the blade as diligently, so... Be gentle, Lucien, for my first time with you. *Gulp* Damn. What a big sword. Don't rush at me just to wet your tip! Too late... Welp, ladies and gentlemen, looks like my attempt to enrage my opponent with crude double edged-words backfired. I'm out of the fight, but not the competition as I'll continue provide quality commentary!"

Then, in the second bracket, Julius triumphed over Hetta. The battle trance induced by purity-based psalms were not enough to overcome the warmed-up Lord from the Edge, other name of his natal Finister, a land of cliffs and countless anchorage spots. Julius entered the fight with his strange sword and a snotling, and after a few sword clashes finds an opening to slam the greenskin in her face, turning into green-laced black water and an horrible pained scream from the shapeshifting snotling.

"Charles against Tyler! A fratricide fight!"
This one is as short as Tyler's first round. A shot while the scrawny - for a knight but no more for a commoner - man rushes into close range concludes the round.

"And now... The battle-hardened smithing-enthusiast Errant, Ryner, who brought us an unforgetable fight last round... Against Mathias!"
Ryner dashes forward with his Zweihander. A deadly steel arc is dodged by Mathias, which trust forwards. Ryner dives under the attack, avoiding a hit by the width of an hair. Half turn, back pressing against Mathias' chest, Ryner pummels in the junction of thorax and abdomen, cutting the breath of his opponent and drawing out quite a few cheers from the audience thrilled by the bold move, although a bit dirty and playing around the harm-prevention spell. Going all-in, Ryner attacks. Mathias does not let him overcome. Bashing the edge of his shield in his opponent elbow (that will leave a mark) , Mathias concludes the match.
The odds were too much against Rydern sorry Anon of Doom

Hector helps Renée set up for her match.
"Good luck. I believe in you.
- You know, I never won against Nicolas.
- Well, today is as good as any for a first time.
- Say, Hector... Will you comfort me if I lose?
- No, because you won't lose. "
No ideas of defeat shall get in her mind. Wit is as important as might in a fight.
Renée turns her back at Hector, and steps hesitantly in the wooden-fenced arena toward the sylph.
Getting her rapier blessed, she raises her shield against Nicolas.
"Who will prevail? The wasp have on her side the nimbleness, but will her dart be enough to go through the hide of the bull before he tramples her?"
Nicolas steps forward confidently. This duel have been fought countless time. Nicolas knows his advantage relies on strength and reach. And such, wielding his hammer with all his might, he prevents his hierarchical superior to get closer. The issue looks to Hector like all the time Renée got battered with a cloth-dampened hammer. Wait a second... The realization he pocketed the metaphorical soup hits.
Renée mutters :
"Looks like I won't get nursing nor comforting words for loosing this time... I should as well gives my best"
Renée dives under the hammer, springs up, stabs. A drop of died water sullies the cheek of Nicolas. Not enough to conclude the fight. Situation looks grim, as Nicolas recovered and prepares to slam down the hammer.
"Do it, Renée! You can win!"
Gathering all her resolve, Renée dashes and strikes again, then roll to avoid her foe's weapon.
>Renée won thanks to cheering.

Renée is glowing after her victory.
"I hope I made you proud, chief", she says with a malicious smile.
- With the support of eachother, we can do anything!
I meant the cheering. And support as knights.
"
The smile of Renée melted. Why? Hector feels it's unfair, he's doing his best to treat her like he would treat any knight of the squad despite the blurred-lined situation

>1 anon roll 1d20 perception

The next round starts almost immediately
>Hector versus Claire : Double-Crit
Hector and Claire position themself a few step away from each other.
"Soooo, how are things going between you and Renée?
- What? Things? Pfft, nothing's goin on.
- Good for me, I guess. Next time I'll put you a bit more soup in a bowl of bread as you seem unable to function normally when talking to me. Feel free to tell me how you like your... soup... in a near future. Just you and me, right?" She winks. Then lunge forwards.
Hector's brain switch off. He's not good at interpersonal relationship. And that's okay, Guillot usually deals with that. And what Hector lacks in nuance understanding and social cue reading, his sheer prowess and heart three time the normal size makes for. But this is not what he's thinking about, now isn't the time for introspection. Hector lives the moment, his thought compartmentalized.
Unbothered. Lightly moisturized by sweat. Happy. In his lane. Focused. Flourishing doing what he does best.
Claire his a redoutable foe. But Hector? Hector is something else, entirely. A skilled knight a few months ago, Hector turned into an efficient and deadly dancer a weapon in hand. This constant battling, and losing almost no knights - except those three poor lads in Brno and Eugene - shape his future as one of the kingdom's best warrior.
>Hector's CQC skill grew to 4 dices
You guys deserved a reward for the double crit
Hector sweeps Claire's leg with his wooden halberd. She trap Hector's knee between her leg, in a scissor-way. Hector fell, catch himself on the top of a short-breathed Claire with his blade on her throat.
Hector won.
Claire deserved a reward too. A new challenger enter Waifu's War
"So... leaader... I need you to know... What I said was not just a distraction attempt... It was a bit sincere" Claire stares at Hector's eyes in the first half of the sentence, then shifted her gaze while brushing a strand of hair back behind her ear.
Hector is still laying on the top of the female knight in the middle of the battlefield.

Once again, sorry for the recent lack of updates.
Blogpost time. Those not interested can completely ignore.
I managed to miss my flight for the business trip, and spent the following days feeling quite low. The workload and impression nothing I'm doing professionally matters while getting tons of pressure and in parallel a complete abandonment doesn't help. So I did the best thing in that situation, I bought Pikmin 3 and played like a neet. It's better now, but I'm stressing missing the other business trip, which is way more important for me : I'm in a strange situation but I'm doing a phd and working as an engineer at the same time and I'm going to Japan in the biggest conference of my field to present my results I worked stupidly hard to obtain

Else, I hope you enjoyed Hector winning by sheer weaponized autism

" You now, Claire, I was just very tired that time... It happens to anybody, to commit stupid mistake. I just forgot soup was liquid. And if you found a way to create pocketable soup... I would definitely appreciate it. But you'll keep laughing at me.
- We're not laughing at you, Hector. We're laughing with you. You know, you have this undomitable knight aura, having fought so many battle and win against so many hard odds... Mistakes makes you human. Just perfection is boring, isn't it?
- I'm not perfect, far from it. Due to my lack of planning and foresight, I lead knight to their death. Good men. Dying for nothing. And that's not counting the number of fight I finished inconscient, my face laying in the grass and mud.
- Laaaadieess and gentlemannnn... isn't the fight over? Why are they still in wrestling position? Get a tent, you two! Or a treehouse to avoid the revenge of a short competitor"
Both of the fighter blush, and pick themself up.
" And I almost killed Guillot twice, once against beast herds, and that time we almost starved to death. Most of the previous mistakes left me with scars, either to my body or psyche, but that one time... It's a scar on my habits. And this is why I always try to have ration on hand. Like this food Renée just gave me! "
Claire have quite a mix reaction to the speech. First half, she dusted her armor and fiddled with her hands, trying to muster the courage to say something. And at last sentence, she turns heels and walk away, somewhat pensive. Until a really determined Evette tackle Claire at knee level
"Kyaaaaa! Hector is mine! He is already bothered enough by the tomboy!"
That last word fell as a slur. Claire does not bother to answer, pick the probably inbread nuisance by the armpits while she flays around, take a couple step and drop her in the lake. Let's hope water is normal-human waste deep so she stays down. Alas, the good die young; Evette will probably makes it to the century mark.

Hector gather his spirit while Ulric is beating the poor Lucien to a pulp in the background, despite the fight being over quite soon.
Time to read the note. It's a scroll, rolled and tied with a black ribbon. And a teeny-tiny detail dawns Hector : he still doesn't know how to read.

The white dragon takes a glance at the text across the mental link. That's... Surprisingly sweet and touching. And a perfect waste of a diplomatic wedding.

Nah, the real question is how Renée was taught to write, a skill even rarer than reading. The character are well-defined, implying quite a skilled scribe.
>>
>>5437017
okay i get it not being able to write yourself since you can just dictate it to someone else. But how is reading not a required Skill to learn for a Nobleman?

Just wondering. How many of them are willing to trust their advisors or scribes to transcribe anything if they can not take a look later?

Or is that something for after the Errance?
>>
>>5437028
In the setting, honor matters a lot. A treachery such as a false transcript is something that would resolve in sleeping next night in a comfy tight noose. Well, a few options come to mind. First, Boniface - nevermind, he's praying, better not disturbing him. Raymond, maybe?
"I'm sorry, Hector... I don't know how to read Equitanian... Only dwarfish". That's suspect, and add credit to the rumours he's from Sonnstahl...
Wait, Claire is smart, and from a good family, and a woman! She probably knows how to read!
A thread of possibilities expand in Hector's inner sight. The loom of fate follows the thread where he goes for Claire's help. She take the letter, frown, "awww, that's really sweet... No way I can let you know that letter contents!" and then throw it in the lake near a fading bubbling stream.
Oh right, Evette. Hector goes toward the lake and pick up the drowing dwarf.
"Heeeectorrrrr you came to save me! Like a gallant prince of tales! I'll be your princess and we'll live happily ever after with ten - no - twenty children!"
Hector doubt Evette can survive one childbirth, even with White and Agathe tending to her. Quick, distraction!
- You'll catch a cold. Go dry yourself
- Hector... You care so much... But don't you like me being so wet at your feet?"
As usual, the only solution is ignoring the rambling little person. Claire is not an option... But wait, there is that Trayan guy, Hector saw him doodling and writing after the battle against demons...
" Hello, Trayan... I have a request for you.
- What is it?"
Hector gets the scroll out and Trayan starts laughing.

"Alright, here it goes...

Soundtrack for the love letter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEoRCYH_WUA

Dear Hector,
Feelings are always so difficult to express, strange as it may be... why is it, that what we hold in our hearts, those mixtures of emotions, are so strong within us yet so weak in being able to be expressed, heard, by the one we would most like them to be heard by?

Today I decided to take a step and to write down for you, all those feelings that I seem to have making lots of noise around my heart! It may come as a surprise to you to see them written down, but I hope rather than shy away from them that you will be happy that I managed to get them out to be freely expressed.
We have known each other now for a few month. They felt equally as a couple of seconds and years of bliss. I didn't believed I could one day be happy again.
This discovery has been conflicting. Even today, I don't know if this is a wonderful journey, or a step over the edge of the abyss. I'm scared, but hopeful.

I wanted you to know.

Renée

...

You know, I'd really appreciate it if next time you and the pretty lady court, you don't do this through me."
>>
Tyler won against Julius. Julius managed to slice the first hit with his sharp blade. Then tyler shot again without reloading.
"DOUBLE BARRELLED GUN, LOOSER"
It's Renée's turn versus Mathias. And she does not show any of the enthusiasm of last fight upon seeing Hector discussing so close to Claire and picking up Evette

>Write-in what Hector does once Renée lose. Here are some leads
>You fought really well. Nothing to be ashamed
>I read your letter. I didn't got what you meant. But thanks, I guess?

Renée, as expected, lost. One half-hearted attempted lunge got immediately punished. She looks a bit sulking, but her mood brighten when seeing a lack of Evette and Claire still at her original place and not on the right side of Hector. And that, of course, fly three meters above Hector's head.

" Trayan said that we were courting each other Renée. Is that the meaning of your letter? I'm not the most poetic of persons, that would be Guillot, I don't even know to read or write...
>Renée is blushing
" Perhaps we should speak openly, to one another. I'm trying my best to respect you as a knight, as my second in command, as is the purpose of errantry, and what I believed it was what you desired by hiding your identity, to protect your honour. "

" But I would be lying to say my mind does not wander to that night were you reveled your secret, or that my heart flutters and my words become clouded when we speak. "

Meanwhile, Claire have a more gracious reaction, with a concerned look and coming to the help of her rival. But Hector does not have more time; time for him to face Ulric.
The pretty man smirks.
" At least! A worthy challenger. "
>Ulric's class is dashing swordman : Add charisma to attack, but never shut the fuck up
" Worrying about the girl? Don't worry, you're joining her in the mother's embrace in a few seconds...
Ulric dashes.
>Hector's autism shield from trashtalk
Hector leap backward to avoid the cleave. No time for a counterstrike, Ulric is on the offense again.
"Soooo... Avoiding the fight? It'll end as for your friend..."
A red flower blooms on the mud from a droplet of Lucien's blood falling from the blond man's gauntlets as he advances with overly large moulinets, each a lethal vertical strike.
" That's all the allegedly best warrior of the Kingdom worth? Jumping and fleeing like a scared rabbit ? I knew your blessed weapon were compensating your inability, peasant. "
Hector finished reading the opponent's style. Very circular with strong strikes at improbable angles, the attack are still following a rythmic pattern. Hector strikes.
His usual guard involve holding the halberd close to the tip with his right hand, and the left in the middle of the pole. This allows easier start of movement, then sliding of hands along the pole use inertia for deadly strikes. But this also allows that neat trick of stabbing three meter away by throwing the weapon with both hands, letting it slide, catching back down the stick while stepping forward.
Ulric tried to dodge , but missed half a meter to get into safety

While Tyler faces Mathias, Hector rushes toward Renée, leaving a defeated Ulric.
" I'm disgusted by myself... Losing against a peasant... "

" Renée!
- She'll be fine. It looks like something panicked her, have you any idea what?"
Hector thanks Boniface while Tyler shot his two barrel on a dodging Mathias, Parry a sword attack with his gun while reloading, and blast again in Mathias' face.
" It's fine, Renée. Take it slow.
I apologize for misunderstanding your intentions... As you appear unwanting of a romantic relationship among errants, I'll do my best to at least remain your friend, if you permit so.

- Yeah, friends... That's fine... That's completely fine...
- Hector?"
Claire heard the whole thing. How embarrassing.
"I want to make sure you understand one thing. I'm not opposed of errands having romantic relationship. Let me cheer for you for that next fight."
She does that damn cute thing where she smiles while closing her eyes and tilting her head on the side.
I'm not opposed of errands having relationship... Does that mean she supports Hector's feeling toward Renée, or some other insinuation?

>Durable Halberd of cleaving true-striking of the Tumulus' sleeper
Pretty sure I give Hector a magical Halberd.
If i mentionned a magic sword, I fucked up.
The tumulus sleeper was laid to rest with good weapon and his magical everyday-headband that have been infused by awesomeness, but not his artifact-grade sword.
That and I did bother to draw the detailed finishing blow of Hector's win.
By the way, does this makes it clearer? I completely visualize the movements character are doing in the fight and try my best to tell them in a not-boring way. What do you think of how combat is related?

Ulric got a longsword.
My translator use the same word as french for moulinet, which can be fishing gear or picrel kind of movement.
The idea is to create a dynamic guard, preventing approaches and acting as parry to most unthought attacks, rising pressure as you can turn it into a strike almost any moment. However, an opponent reading correctly your movement will find opening in your guard.

Final round :
Despite all the mess and confusion in his head, Hector focus on his fight.
He definitely didn't expected Tyler as a last challenger : his fighting style is more suited to ranged fight than close quarters, after all. Julius, Ulric, Nicolas, Mathias and Renée were all more likely to reach last round. That speaks volume about the powder-high knight ability
>83 vs 83
Both fighter takes their stances. This time, Hector have to go on the offense. He needs to read the opponent's action to anticipate and counter them.
Tyler engage with an headshot attempt as soon as Guillot yell the start of the last round after five minutes of hype-building the crowd. Hector answers by tilting his large blade as a deflective shield. The shot roll on the weapon, and fell somewhere in the Errant's stands. The already frantic atmosphere turns hectic.
Tyler used his attack to take a few steps back, keeping a safety margin.
>83 vs 89
Hector knows what's next : this is the trick used against Julius. Tyler have two barrels on the gun, can reload chambers separately and trigger them individually thanks to coupled triggers. The next shot will be aimed in the torso. Key point : will be. Hector did not let any opportunity. The first deflection was done dashing forward, gathering momentum. Hector slides on the ground, feets forward, avoiding the attacks by one hair. Then, pushing on the ground with his forearms, he springs up. Armored boot's heel right on the marksmen biceps makes him drop the gun. Hector would have aimed Collarbone to break it on a real fight, but Tyler is both his friend and a valuable pack member.
Tyler tries to punch Hector, which dodges, and draw his own sword. It's over in a couple trades.
"Laaaaaadieeeeees and Geeeeeeeeennnntlemeeeeeeen... As promised, the winner of our turnament... SIIIIIIIIIIR HECTOR OF GRIFFINMOUNT!"
Thunderous applause overwhelm the arena. Time to say a few words in front of everybody.
>Write-in what Hector is saying.

Also, the reward of winning is the highest one Equitaine knight could ask for : lots of honor and recognition.
This is also true for everyone that won at least one round. The ones that lost against either Hector and Tyler got extra credits.

Can we not work on the king while RNG is still working against us?
What if, instead of waiting day by day for our healing magic to recharge, what we do is capture a bunch of skaven and use energy drain on all of them to drain all their life juices? Then we just keep spamming the healing spell through out the day until we run out of slaves, or we rank up in healing. That or maybe try to sacrifice a bit of our own HP to do a second heal spell for the day, then recover the lost HP with some rest?
>>
>>5441638
The RNG is always against us.
>>5441623
I think we already reached maximum healing, I remember something about DC 12 being as far as we are allowed to go
>>
>>5441638
If I remember correctly, our drain isn't of any energy, but light specifically, so using skaven as battery won't be an option right now.

>>5441643
I have faith that QM-san's answer to my question on the last thread really entails what I said right after (pic related), which would basically means DC 5.
>>
>>5441678
Forgot my name again.
>>
>>5441643
>I think we already reached maximum healing
you mean on how many dice we can throw around, or how many times we can heal a day? So far the QM hasn't given us a dice limit, and as we're still young we can only heal once a day, with some work around. If we crush mana gems we can absorb the energy to cast heal again. OR. We could try energy drain to steal life energy.

>>5441678
If we can drain light, then maybe we can passively energy drain and sunbath so we can heal TWICE in a single. >>5441365 confirm this you lil shid.

>DC 5
huh?
>>
>>5441685

If we can manage to increase our crit range to 5~20, naturally the DC would go with it and thus be 5. QM-san said "everything's possible", so I would very much like to try.
>>
>>5441366
I calling you out QM! Healing isnt the only way we can improve the amount of dice we can throw! Let us spam Glasswalking, Wind Shield, and Divinitation so we can level up Arcana faster, ergo more dice to roll for healing.
I'm suprised no anons are worried about the crit fails binding us to chaos, or failures back tracking progress. I blame the QM for making all these dummies forget.

>>
>>5441807
Unless we have another penalty that I don't remember, of course.

>>
