Nearing the apartment of your destination your hearth starts racing. You can hear the blood flowing through your head. Your palms are sweating bullets. Being a Policy Enforcer Agent on the largest moon colony -Echo- is stressful of course, and everybody gets the butterflies before a raid, but youre used to that. No, this is different. You play a bit with the idea that its some innate 6th sense warning you, before hushing it away as nonsense.

This mission is nothing out of the ordinary. Gathering and possession of illegal information commited by 2 man occupying a standard type B2 apartment. Those people are rarely violent. Fucking data hoarders. If theres no room to collect trash they will just continue doing it digitally.

But regardless, you are armed with...
>a GI-76 small machine gun. Short, quick, low recoil weapon, ideal for close quarter fights. Equiped with a 40 round mag and a red dot sight, the standard issue for field agents.
>a HATZ pump-action shotgun. Official descriptions use the term "high powered", however you prefer "over powered". Cover needs to be redefined whenever its involved. You had to personally request it to get one.
And your service pistol -naturally. So you have nothing to fear.

Especially with your 3 comrades by your side and under your command.
>You have completed the academy along side them. You know for a fact they all are good, honest men worthy of trust.
>You were just recently promoted to squad leader and got stationed with this group afterwards. Now that you think about it you dont even know their full names, but each is a veteran and that is what really matters.

When you reach door 3028 -your target- you hug the concrete wall right beside it. The blueprint of type B2 apartments flash through your mind. You take a quick glance behind you to see a perfect line with 6 determined eyes, then you look around the spacious shared corridor. No civilians in sight. Thankfully they are smart enough to know when to walk away, most of the time anyways. Now you turn to the sealing and gaze to Earth through the glass, just for a second while you take a deep breath. You flick the safety off on your HATZ.
Time to make the call:
>bang on the door and demand whoever is inside to open up
>peak the window
>use the master key and enter silently
>use the master key and demand the criminals to come out
>[UNLOCKED OPTION] shoot the lock into pieces to show them you mean business

Knowing what might be on the other side of the door couldn't hurt. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if the window is blocked.

You decide to peak the window before anything else. At first sight its an ordinary looking kitchen opened in with the corridor. All clear. Then taking in the details, you realize the plants stuffed under the inner side of the window are rather strange. But that has nothing to do with why youre here so you snap back.

You gesture your mates to keep a low profile. The master key rises from your pocket. One of the best things the artificial uniformity of this complex brings -at least from your perspective- is that all locks are supervised. It easily slips into its hole. There is small click on the first rotation signaling the door unlocked. Shoving it aside you peak with your gun ready.

The corridor ahead of you and the doors descending from it are painted black, giving it the illusion its unnaturally dark in there. The only things easing the effect are the strange white pictograms layered over with white at seemingly random spots. Some you recognize, actually. Namely the very simplistic depictions of the zodiac ram and lion.
Your head scans around. If the entirety of the flat follows the regular layout, then besides the kitchen is the bathroom and to your right is the bedroom. Both closed. However, -opposing you- the living room door is half way open. You can hear atleast two people talking about... drugs? There are names of chemicals involved which you dont even attempt to process.
You step in quietly.

The plants bothers you so much you have to check on them. You know little of botanics, but surely plants with so little leafs should not be able to have fruits without industrial techniques. Regardless, what you can best describe as a purple pear with red dots looks unnatural in itself. You squash it gently. For a second you think its made of rubber, except that cannnot be, the plant itself is clearly real.

With hand gestures you explain to your buddies how the scene is going to go down. Sanchez takes his position in the kitchen, Miller watches the bedroom door while you and Johnson proceed forwards. Youre just about to push the door open when a painful screaming noise hits your ear. Turning towards its apparent direction theres nothing but a painted sigil there. A minute ago you swear it wasnt yellow like it is now. You notice the screaming sound has a tone to it. It changes between less and more loud phases at equal intervals. Is it some sort of alert perhaps?
You finally tap the door with the barrel of your gun which flings open only to reveal a man sprinting from one side of the room to the other.

Perhaps you should shoot him? Its a clear shot and what hes doing is clearly not peaceful surrender. Enforcers are hardly ever held accountable for brutality anyways. But even an elephant would bleed out from a wound inflicted by your HATS by the time the paramedics could arrive.
>do not take the shot: shooting an unarmed man is wrong. it morals do not allow it.
>take the shot: fuck this shit! these people are obviously up to something and you are sure as hell not willing to be the butt of the joke. (roll 1d20)

OPs note:
In this thread we use d20s for regular rolls. The rationale to deviate from the traditional d100s is, that critical successes (20s) and critical failures (1s) are more likely this way.
The end value of your efforts is either the first critical (1 or 20) if theres any, or the average of your rolls.

You choose this profession to serve and protect, not to murder! You are not going to just shoot someone at first sight!
He runs out of frame unharmed.
>"Get down on your knees and show me your hands!" - you yell
In response 2 bullets hit the right side of the door frame.
>"Fuck off blue helmet! Leave us alone, pigs! These were the first and last warning shots you will get!"

What do you do?
>retreat out. you dont even know how many of them are yet. you should not take any unnecessary risks. sooner or later they will have to come out.
>attempt to reason with them. (write in what you say)
>rush in. those bullets of his are tiny, 9mm max. your gear will protect your vital organs. the rest... well, youre not afraid of pain.

Im not sure if i understand the exact geometry of these rooms and our location in this situation, but cant we just use our superpowered shotgun to blast in the general direction of those shots?
>>
>>5417619
Good question. My first instinct would be to return fire in the direction of those shots. If our shotgun is as powerful as we believe it to be, then we shouldn't have a problem.
>>
>>5417623
Even if it doesnt fully penetrate the space walls or the guy isnt standing right behind it, that blast will still show that we mean business and have the gunpower to back it up. Its possible that they'll surrender right away, after all, they arent really the violent type of criminals to begin with.
And if our armor really does block their wimpy bullets theres no real risk involved for us either way.

>Im not sure if i understand the exact geometry
yeah, i should have included the room names on the originally posted blueprint. i fucked the sizes too, i would say double the original but its probably better if we ditch exactness. sorry im new to this.
picrel should clarify. i included you and your mates (by first letter of their names), but it does not account for any furniture and doesnt show the doors.

(3+17+10+12)/4 = 10.5
Very slight success.

You insert the end of your barrel into the room and let out a shot blindly. The sound of the impact lets you know that the pallets did not hit a body, however a cry of pain still can be heard.
>"Daniel! You ok? Get up!"
>"Argh, the fucker! Ive been worse before... Im gonna kill you myself you hear me?!"
It must have been the debris that got him.
You chamber another shell. 4 remains until youll have to reload.
Suddenly the bathroom door opens. You turn head and theres a very skinny, mustached man pointing something at you that barely qualifies as a pistol. It has no receiver, no ejector, no sight, just a short 3/4" pipe and a trigger. Surely reloading it is worthy of a comedy show. Must have been created from scratch. But all of that doesnt matter, unlike his friends toy, that could very well penetrate, he has his one shot and the initiative on you.
Hopefully he aims as good as he looks he would.
>roll another 1d20

Hes hand is visibly shaking. Pulling the trigger he closes hes eyes. After the bang you feel no pain. The amateur managed to miss from this close.

>shoot him: the situation is hot, there is no time for other options.
Too bad he will never get the time to get better, because you will not make the mistakes he did.
You shoot back aiming from reflex. The portion of the pallets that hit tear out a decent chunk of the side of his chest. The offender instantly loses balance and falls backwards.
Confused fear sets out on his face for a split second before with a useless twitch his muscles go numb forever.

How do you wish to proceed:
>reload
>double check the bathroom and the body
>keep shooting blindly into the room and order Johnson to do the same (roll 1d20)
>enter the bathroom and shoot at the wall: it could only work from point blank and firing almost perfectly perpendicular to the surface; still, the first few will not go through, but then... (roll 1d20) (included as a named option thanks to >>5417634)

>What's going on with "J"? You'd think he would've opened fire on those guys in the living room by now.
Your squad mates will not become offensive unless you order them to be. They will however attempt to neutralize threats in their sight of course.
For example, if you were to shoot at, but miss the bathroom guy, Johnson would have shot too.
The same doesnt apply to the living room guys, because they have moved to spots of the room that Johnson (nor you) have a line of sight to without entering/peeking.
>>
>>5418743
>enter the bathroom and shoot at the wall: it could only work from point blank and firing almost perfectly perpendicular to the surface

Do it blindly from around the corner, rather than expose himself. We'll get the fuckers with crossfire.
>>
>>5418743
>Clear the bathroom while ordering "J" to enter and clear the living room. Order one of the guys at the rear to assist him while the last guy holds security at the bedroom door.
In hindsight, we shouldn't have just flowed past the bathroom door like that. It's a good thing the perp behind it was a poor shot.
>>

You call for Sanchez to take your position while you step over the corpse. Clear, its just you and the body on the beige floor.
After reloading and choosing your lucky tile -one around stomach level, not far from the corner-, you order to Johnson to fire in simultaneously as you start blasting.
Composite chunks start flying around you. The walls are thick, but clearly giving in gradually. Past the 3th shot you cannot see past your wrists from the dust. Stoically you carry on until your striking pin blows at nothing but air. The meanwhile your colleague is still on it. You were unable to pay proper attention, but he must be burning his 3th or so.
