Last time: A man woke up in a new world with no memories of living his past life, falling from the sky and crashing into the execution platform of the once King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. He soon found himself embroiled in a new tale of mystery, adventure and action, finding that the World Government weren't quite as interested in the justice that their Marines proclaimed to serve as they liked to present. That man is Copper Threepwood, a man who is determined to forge his own destiny, unable to permit the World Government to continue to propagate their false justice! Now setting out on a new adventure with his newly formed crew, he sets forth to try to accomplish what no man has accomplished in hundreds of years... a world revolution that will change everything!

Now was the day that you were supposed to depart, you had eventually decided on naming the Sabertooth 'Haruki'. You didn't really know why you had decided on the name, but somehow it just felt right, so you went for it. Of course, now Haruki very rarely left your side, and it was interesting that the animal you had defeated so soundly in a fight was so willing to follow directly behind you at all times. She really must've felt grateful about you having given her that potion. Even animals seemed to have the concept of wanting to repay somebody after they saved their life... even if in the case of Haruki, you had been the one to put her life in danger in the first place. Of course, you hadn't been the aggressor either way, so it may have also been built from her regret at attacking somebody so much more powerful than she was in the first place. It was odd to think that animals would have such concepts, but... Haruki definitely liked you a lot now, the savage beast that had tried to kill you not one week ago was now your loyal pet.

It had taken a fair amount of explaining to the townsfolk that the tiger wasn't hostile and it was actually your pet, though once they accepted that you had managed to actually tame the savage beast, they happily accepted her. Urchii and Jacob were actually waiting for you to travel to the center of the island where you'd meet up with Hephay, but... there was one last thing you wanted to do before you departed from the island.

You approached Cutter, the fishman who was currently helping one of the humans to expand their house, equipped with a hammer and nails. It seemed that the community really had managed to truly overcome the racial divisions that they might've otherwise had. Everyone really was brothers in chains... and that had managed to last even beyond their liberation, the government had after all been planning on experimenting on every single one of them.
>>
"Oh, you're Threepwood, arent'cha?" The fish man noticed your approach and greeted you with a smile. you noted his sharp teeth as he did so a trait that was inherent to all fish men, as far as you were aware anyway. "What's up? Seen you around town a fair bit recently, how's the hand?" There had been quite a bit of displeasure among the people in the town towards Jacob after your injury, but you had dispelled it by claiming that it had been a fight to first blood and it would heal completely anyway.

"It's fine now." You shrugged, showing off your now healed hand. "Everyone needs to get their fair share of wounds before they can be called a warrior anyway, right?" You realized that you probably weren't going to retain any sort of scar after properly leveling up, but that was hardly the point. It was more the lesson than the physical reminder that was important, after all, Jacob wasn't exactly strong compared to somebody like Hephay, and he had defeated you thanks to you becoming careless about your guaranteed victory. Seeing that the information that observe gave you wasn't going to always guarantee that you could defeat somebody in a fight was a quite important lesson for you to take on board.

"Aye, that's true. Everyone who claims to be a fighter should have the scars to prove it... nobody is born as the strongest after all." The fish man nodded before he pulled aside the top of his jacket to reveal a long scar running down his body. "I earned this one from my previous captain. Fish man by the name of Arlong... couple years back we had an argument about what we were doing with a village in East Blue, but Arlong of course disregarded my concerns and declared me a traitor. He cut me down and left me for dead after dumping me into the ocean. It's a foolish story, and I was a young fool when I first went with Arlong, I was... filled with hatred for humans back then, but seeing the atrocities he was committing upon people who were weaker than he was, I realized that he was little more than a hypocrite... fool I was not to heed Jinbe's advice back then." The fish man shook his head sadly.

"I... see." You examined the man's scar with curious interest, honestly, had he been a smaller man, that sort of wound probably would've cut him in half. "So, how did you survive, and how did you end up in that laboratory?" It was puzzling, if he was cut down like that, then he should've been dead... especially without any sort of medical treatment.
>>
"I clung on to life, until I ended up being picked up by a passing fishing vessel... they recognized me and handed me into the local authorities... though instead of imprisoning me like you'd expect of a criminal, they had another fate in store for me. I was transported to that... facility underneath Loguetown, just as everyone else here was." The fish man clenched his fist angrily. "But... I saw that the same atrocities being committed to me... were also being done to man, mink, merfolk and even giant. It was then that my doubts about Arlong were truly confirmed. He was nothing more than a hateful bully who targeted his vitriol for the world towards the simplest target." You had seen Arlong's bounty poster, but you had no idea about just how bad he was, the guy sounds like a total jackass, and... well, he was the sort of pirate that you'd have no problem claiming the bounty for. Though considering that the marines had shown that they were seemingly all too happy to experiment on whoever they ended up capturing, it... might've been better to just take advantage of the 'Dead' part of 'Dead or Alive' for their sake more than anything else.

Just because somebody did bad things didn't necessarily mean that it gave the Government the right to torture them after all, and death would truly be a mercy over being made into a lab rat. But apparently, the World Government's idea of 'justice' was 'anything that benefits the World Government'. "Well... I'm glad that you no longer hate humans."

"I'd have to be an even bigger fool than Arlong, were I to continue hating humans after one was responsible for saving us all, you might not understand just how big what you did really was, but... even if you only released Hephay, he was about the only one who possibly could've gotten everyone out, and I doubt anybody else in East Blue even knew about the existence of that underground facility. Can't imagine the commanding officer would've accepted the station if he had known." The fish man sounded familiar with the man, so you decided to pick him for some information.

"Commanding officer... that's... Captain Smoker, right?" You remembered his name, but you didn't remember much else about him.

"Mhm, not sure if he was called Smoker before he got his Logia, but I kinda doubt it." Cutter nodded. "Learned about him from talking to a few people around town, shame that he hasn't done anything about Arlong, for all his bluster, there's nothing that my old captain would've been able to do against a Logia user. Man turns into smoke, by all accounts." Ah, so he was the Smoke Logia, that... made far too much sense than you felt like it should. But... if he was going to go by an alias after eating his fruit, couldn't he have been a little less blatant?

"Right... well, I actually wanted to ask you something else." You paused for a moment, but before you could ask the question, the pirate shook his head.
>>
"Sorry, but... my pirating days are over. I ended up hurting too many people from that village, and... odds are that Arlong is still continuing his reign of terror there even now." The fish man frowned, and you could tell just how frustrated that he was about not being able to do more for this village. You would've protested that you weren't technically planning on becoming a pirate, but you somehow felt like it wouldn't take long for you to be branded as one by the World Government so long as you opposed them. You wondered if there was some way to convince the man to go with you regardless...

Anon please. Dealing with Arlong is a good deed. Helping a guy to fix his past is also a good deed.
Just cause we are also getting something out of it doesn't make us a dick.
Would all pirate hunters also qualify as dicks by that logic? They catch pirates for a financial gain after all.

Hmm, so ideas for where to place points?

I was thinking Luck and Charisma, with a bit into Agility.

Like: 10 Luck, 5 Agility, and 5 Charisma.

Just because we need too keep Agility from slagging behind and everything else could use some more work.

Fuck Arlong.
Let's "throw him into the dungeon" it's not like he ever shows up again anyway.

Yohoho.

I think we should dump into one stat rather than Jack of All-Trading everything.
Agility might be good.

Do you guys think Arlong counts as a thief?

Sure. I was thinking of making Vitality our dump stat.

Most definitely. Most pirates do.
>>
Also, if you wanna get more technical, he and the others 'stole' a ship from the Marines after their old one was destroyed back when Tiger died.
>>
>>5413045
Fun fact a thief is specifically someone who steals or takes without using violence or does so with no one knowing. A robber is the guy who walks up and points a gun at your head and demands your wallet.

Anon what are you talking about, he's simply pointing at her and threatening to put her in the "Arlong Park Fun Dungeon" which is also coincidentally where all the non-canon characters are kept, like Daddy Masterson... and Goku.
>>
>>5413024
Agility is probably the best offensive stat for both Pistols and Cutlass, with our Pistols having luck as their secondary stat and the Cutlass having Willpower (tied to Insult Swordfighting) and Strength (raw damage output), and we probably need Intelligence if we're going to do Medic/Alchemy shenanigans.
Stat priority should probably be:
Agility = Intelligence > Luck = Willpower > Strength > Other stats
>>
>>5413059
True, but big brain and Charisma also good for skills and recruitment.

Hmm, I would imagine Cutter is roughly on pair with Arlong, so I say if we play this smart with our current 3, we could defeat them.

Though maybe we should make some special bombs too get rid of them, some tear gas goes a long way, and they are all cooped up in Arlong Park.

Like Fish in a barrel....
>>
>>5413062
>I would imagine Cutter is roughly on pair with Arlong
Arlong oneshot him and he only survived by chance. Unless he's got some serious preworkout he's been smashing I doubt he's anywhere near Arlong's level.
>>
The journey to Arlong Park will... I'll be generous and say it'll take about 10 days time for you guys. If you go, you'll have a bunch of time to train with everyone.
As opposed to about two days it would take if you went straight to Loguetown.

I'll be calling the vote in about 30 minutes.
>>
I don't think we should go to Arlong Park, let him stay and enjoy life here. Let's make our own story instead of being the snowflake who defeats all the villains before the protagonist.
>>
>>5413071
Hmm, how long would making a stop to Loguetown be if we only went there to cash in the bounty and buy some stuff? An extra half a day?
>>
>>5413072
I would agree in any other situation but I want someone with actual sailing experience on our crew.
>>
>>5413072
You will take Luffy's place and you will like it

Also, lets face it, we can use the exp, and we could rob the place blind afterwords.

>>

About that, yeah.

>>5413072
>>5413077

Regardless, you've all pretty much made it clear that Copper doesn't have any real interest in the title of Pirate King, so taking Luffy's place isn't going to happen.

It's been awhile since I read OP but wasn't Hachi aware of what Arlong was doing?

So will we roll for things like sailing or weather?

Or events going on in the world?

We have 22 million, not 2 billion. We need a ship that won't break when we go through reverse mountain.

>Zimbabwean dollar value
That just feels like how bounties are now being treated post Wano.
What with Nami having a higher bounty than Doffy and Hancock getting her bounty upgraded to like nearly 2 billion for pretty much just sitting on her island and doing nothing of any value.
>>
>>5413119
Hey man inflation is a serious problem in the bounty world. There are just so many of them no one is cashing in. Can't be helped. If only bounty hunters were actually real.
>>
>>5413119
Maybe because her Df, because she is beautiful, or all the kuja

Or they figured out her past...

Also, Nami is one of 10 members of an Emperor's Crew. Anything less than 300 would be an insult
>>
>>5413122
You'd think they'd just give up and stop issuing bounties after you reach like over a hundred million because pirates just use them for measuring dicks and anybody who could possibly defeat said pirates in order to cash in on them is either a wanted man or a marine.

>>5413123
Poor Chopper.
Also just figuring out that Hancock is an ex-slave shouldn't be enough to give her such a tremendously high bounty.
>>
>>5413126

"Hmmph... well... what if we went to this village? Together, we might have a chance at stopping Arlong, right?" Last you remembered, Arlong had the highest bounty of any pirate who sailed in East Blue, so if you could take him down and then deliver him to the marines at Loguetown, then you'd be able to fulfill the conditions of your bounty hunter quest before ever gaining a bounty for yourself! Of course, that wasn't to say that you didn't have any interest in putting a stop to the evil that this fish man was apparently perpetuating, to think that he would strike down one of his own comrades simply due to a disagreement... it's something that only an honorless cur would think about doing.

"You'd really do that? You... you know that Arlong is the most powerful pirate that's in East Blue, right?" The fishman reminded you that Arlong was apparently no joke, but... somehow you found that you didn't really care. As strong as Arlong might've been, you were pretty sure that a bullet right between his eyes would be enough to put an end to him, and failing that... you were pretty confident with your blade now. Though you could probably do with a little more training. In fact, the same went for pretty much your entire crew, you at least wanted to get everyone to a level in which they'd be able to confidently beat somebody like Tashigi before you challenged this Arlong.

"Eh, it's not too big a deal. I'm out to change the world either way, be that from government corruption or the evils of individual pirates lording their power over those weaker than them. I... I can't stand tyranny in any form." Be it mandated by government or simply through superior force, tyranny in any form was something that you had found yourself more and more devoted to the idea of stamping out. You weren't like most people, it was clear that your abilities would give you the power that you'd need to stand up against such tyranny, but the same obviously wasn't true for most people, where their only strength would come not in their fighting potential, but in their ability to refuse to cooperate... but such a refusal to cooperate could only ever work on a grand scale, such as through the unification of an entire country. But in the case of say, a village refusing to cooperate with a band of merciless pirates? All that their defiance would end in was their eradication.
>>
"I see... well, if that's truly the case, if you truly mean to help me make amends for my past actions, then, I suppose I have no choice but to accompany you. But I warn you, Arlong... he's powerful. Far more powerful than I am, he might have attacked me by surprise back then, but it wouldn't have made a bit of difference had I been aware of his intentions from the start." Cutter revealed that Arlong was a great deal more powerful than he was, and obviously he wouldn't have been able to have done much in the way of training since he only really got loose of his imprisonment at the hands of the government, though you were already well aware of that fact. Besides... if things really got bad, you could simply eat the Thermite Thermite fruit and then roast the fish man... though you didn't really even know if you wanted to eat the fruit. At least not yet, treasure diving had been an incredibly lucrative business for you after all, and you had enjoyed diving alongside Urchii too. Besides, what good was being able to hold your breath for ten minutes underwater if you couldn't move underwater?

Eating that devil fruit was something that was probably best saved for an emergency, when you had no choice but to eat it... being a fruit on par with some of the strongest logia in existence, it was pretty obvious that the moment you ate it, you'd be able to defeat just about anybody in East Blue. In fact, as far as you could tell, there wasn't much that would even be able to damage you if you were to eat the fruit... perhaps if you were to get damp, you wouldn't be able to ignite the thermite, but... considering that water was a weakness of all devil fruits anyway, you couldn't really see that being too much of a problem outside of typical devil fruit weaknesses. Still, right now, considering that the world was almost entirely made up of ocean or nations that could only be reached through ocean routes, it was probably a good thing to continue being able to swim.

"Alright, we'll... I guess we'll just have to make sure that we train a lot before we take him on, I'm pretty confident that I can get everyone to at least the level where we'll be able to take on somebody like Arlong... strongest pirate in the East Blue or not!" Though you'd have to totally focus all your efforts towards training your physical stats as much as you possibly could, training with the rest of the crew to try to get everyone as strong as you were physically able before you confronted Arlong, Cutter was fairly strong as he was, but his stats clearly needed a great deal of improvement before he could even hope to take on this Arlong, especially if he was defeated in a single strike the last time he met his previous captain.
>>
"You really think that you'll be able to help me get that strong...?" Cutter seemed bewildered by your confidence, and the truth was that you weren't actually sure, but... you did have something of an idea. If you could somehow hook other people up to the system, then you could theoretically have them spend any of the attributes that they have saved up! Though you didn't even know if something like that was possible, it was something that you were at least interested in, because if it were true... and you did have the ability to allow other people to directly increase their stats as you could, then your power would be far more powerful than it had any right to be. To be able to instantly increase the power of just about anyone with only a few minutes of point allocation, you'd be targeted by the World Government for having a power like that alone!

"Well... if not, I always have a secret weapon in my back pocket." You shrugged, even if you couldn't use your abilities like that, there was no doubt that the Thermite Fruit would let you turn Arlong into grilled fish in about twelve seconds, but you kind of felt like having a power like that was something like cheating. Especially in a place like East Blue where nobody could possibly have an answer to something like that. Curiously, the book you read back in Loguetown had mentioned a way to defeat Logias without having to figure out and take advantage of any sort of natural advantage, but it annoyingly hadn't elaborated on just how that was even possible. Actually, you did consider it strange that when you were reading through that book that the page number skipped by about 8 pages but you hadn't really thought too much of it at that time, though now it was obvious that somebody was trying to hide information for whatever reason, probably the World Government, you wouldn't be surprised if they employed a book burning division or something to get rid of information that they dislike.

"Alright, then... I'll be happy to call you my captain... but aren't you supposed to be setting off today?"

"That's right." You quickly confirmed what Cutter already knew to be true, and the fish man turned around as he started to move towards one of the wreck houses.

"Alright, then... give me a few minutes, and I'll grab my things." You waited as you had been asked to, before the fish man walked back outside of his house, with a truly enormous blade strapped to his back, Cutter was about 10 foot tall by himself, but... the weapon he had strapped to his back was even larger, a thick great sword that had to be angled so that it wouldn't smack against the floor. No... that thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron. The thing must've weighed a ton... no, multiple tons! Was a weapon like that even viable in combat? "Alright, let's get going."
>>
"Ah... yeah, let's go." You stopped gawking at the colossal weapon the fish man seemed to have decided to wield, and you started to walk towards the area that Jacob and Urchii were waiting at, the two were boredly standing around with their arms crossed... well Jacob was standing, Urchii was more sitting on the floor with her arms crossed, but the point still stood. "Sorry for making you wait, but... Cutter is going to be coming with us too, and our first location will be... is... uh..." you quickly realized that you had forgotten to actually ask Cutter for the name of the place you were going to be heading to.

"It's going to be the Conomi Islands, where we're going to be trying to put a stop to the reign of terror of a man named Arlong. He's terrorized the region for years, and... I feel like it's my obligation to stop him." The fish man clearly wanted to make things right, and you couldn't really blame him.

"Right, that... but first I'm thinking we stop back at Loguetown and I buy us some supplies for the journey. It's a few days travel from Loguetown to there, right?" You were vaguely aware of the location of the islands, and the fish man nodded to confirm what you already knew. "Right, so we'll need the resources, we'll also need to train a lot if we're going to be able to hope to take on Arlong... I hear that he's one of the most powerful pirates in all of East Blue." Well, in truth, from what you knew of the world already, that quite literally meant that Arlong was little more than the biggest fish in the smallest pond, though that didn't mean that he could continue to be allowed to exist and terrorize the people of those islands. You also found that your hatred for the World Government was growing ever higher, being incapable or unwilling to even do so little as to stop a pirate who was a total small-fry compared to the pirates in the Grand Line, even though he was actively oppressing an entire group of islands.

"That works for me, but... we'll probably need to remain on the ship whenever you go to Loguetown, I don't exactly feel like getting arrested just for showing my face, and I don't doubt that the three of us have already been given bounties for our capture." Jacob crossed his arms and nodded to himself, he was right of course. "Not sure they'd have been able to get a good look at you though, Captain, so... so long as you don't go telling people that you were the one responsible for the destruction of the laboratory with Hephay's help you'll probably be able to avoid getting yourself a bounty." Well.. when you felt like declaring the world to be your enemy, you could always do that... you supposed. There were probably quests that revolved around getting a high bounty anyway, there seemed to be quests for most other things.

"Then... I guess that settles it! Loguetown and then Conomi! But... then where?" Urchii scratched her cheek, unsure of what exactly the plan was.
>>
"The Grand Line... and a kingdom known as Alabasta... I'm supposed to be meeting a man there who's going to be my contact with the Revolutionary Army, apparently." You were of course intrigued by the identity of this 'Dodger' could it be an alias? It would be excessively idiotic if the Revolutionary Army were to just go by their actual given names, especially considering that in doing so they left themselves wide open to retaliation against their families... then again, the leader may well have been the most famous man in the world, Monkey D. Dragon, son of the man known as the legendary hero of the marines, Monkey D. Garp... though, wait a second, what was with that middle name? That 'D.', what did it mean? You'd have just dismissed it as a mere coincidence that a father and his son shared a middle name, but... one of the books you had read attributed the same middle initial to Gold Roger... or rather Gol D. Roger. So what did it mean? It couldn't have been a coincidence, right? That the three most famous people in recorded history would all share the same middle initial, what were the odds of that?

Whatever, you could think more about the enigmas that the world held a little later, for now... it was about time for you to get going, you wanted to actually leave some time today, and the sooner you got moving, the sooner you'd finish the trek through the jungle. But... before you got going, you looked at your crew, and you decided...

>To tell them all about your powers.
>To tell them a limited extent about your powers.
>Not to tell them about your powers.
>Something else.
>>
>>5413305
Trying to explain to them that we have video-game powers or and all that stuff is just dumb and overcomplicated.

Generally speaking, the only thing we really need to explain is that we are able to learn about something just by looking at it. It's way easier for them to understand if they just think we have some natural talent for it.
>>
>Tell them a limited extend about your powers
>>Tell them about how you can grow stronger quicker than most, and by doing certain tasks, your capable of reaching another 'level' so too say. Give example of Inventory too demonstrate powers.
>>
>>5413310
That doesn't really explain the fact that you can keep an endless supply of stuff in your pockets... even when you aren't wearing clothing with pockets.
>>
>>5413305
>>5413313
I'll support this
>>
>>5413305
>To tell them a limited extent about your powers.
We can gauge peoples, animals and object by just looking at them, we can learn very quickly and recover while doing so, and we have very deep pockets. Also we can also breath for ten minutes and are a natural lighting rod
>>
>>5413321
Thinking about it, I meant to vote for
>To tell them all about your powers.
But word it in a way that doesn't sound like video games since they would be confused.
If they ask how it works, we don't know. We are kind of learning as we go along.
>>
>>5413305
>>Not to tell them about your powers.
>>
>>5413326
To be fair, by telling them everything, Copper would obviously have to phrase it in a way that they understood anyway, he wouldn't suddenly dump something they couldn't possibly understand on them.
>>
So Shiver, how many actions will we be able to perform per day for our sailing adventure?
>>
There are no *video games* on the one piece world, how the hell are we going to explain the concept of levels? Just say that we're able to get strong quick and learn about stuff by looking at it.

Trying to say stuff like 'quests' and 'levels' and whatever the hell is just going to make it more confusing and dumb and needlessly meta
>>
>>5413332
QM just said that Copper is going to explain in an understable way anon
>>5413328
>>
>>5413331
I'll say you can get two in during the trip to loguetown, and then one per day to Conomi.

>>5413332
The concept of somebody who permanently gets stronger by doing certain tasks and has a storage space could be explained to them as something like a Devil Fruit power, but you could find yourself in a weird situation if people think you've got a devilfruit power and you start swimming around and what have you.
>>
>>5413341
Sweet, so thats 12 give or take?

Do we choose what the others do, or they just do their own thing?
>>
>>5413305
>To tell them all about your powers.
Could it be that if they don't know about it that they won't be able to reap the benefits of it as a party?
>>
>>5413346
When it comes to the vote, you'll get to decide what they'll be focusing on for the days you're not training with them personally, but in general, everyone is going to be training their asses off.
>>
Glad to know, hmm, what exactly do they do for training?

Like, does Diving count as training?
>>
>>5413353
Depends on if you're planning on doing anything strenuous underwater, I suppose.
For example, it's a fairly decent way to raise both Vitality and Agility through swimming as fast as you can.
Though I will also say that learning the basics of fishman karate is much much easier if you're underwater.
>>
Hmmm, so will we choose a name for our crew/group soon, or that wait till we slapped with a bounty?
>>
>>5413341
>they assume copper has a devil fruit
>they try really hard and finally knock him into the water
>he swims back up and threatens them from the water
Instant pants pissing territory.

Hey, do tabletop rpgs exist in the setting?
>>
>>5413370
Very likely.

>>5413372
This post alone has made me want to include a somewhat popular (among certain groups) tabletop RPG called Drydocks and Deckhands in the background lore.
The One Piece world is a huge place so somebody has probably invented the concept of TTRPGS though it probably won't have achieved world popularity.
There was probably a player guide in the Loguetown Library.
>>
>>5413376
Tashigi plays. And she plays classic Human Sailor.
>>
>>5413377
Lawful Stupid Human Marine - Officer Subclass.
In every single game she plays she ends up sperging out and getting the party killed after trying to fight an entire fleet of pirates by herself at level 3.
>>
>>5413378
She'd also probably be the sort of person to immediately engage in inter-party conflict the moment she found out that somebody was playing anything other than a marine.
God bless those marines and their blind loyalty to blatantly evil overlords.
>>
Hmm, so will we encounter other Pirates at Sea?

Cause I kinda want too, both for loot and turning them in.

(Actually, I wonder if Dragon has a few of his members sneak into the bounty hunting business, get some terrible pirates off the seas while also getting payed out of the money that usually funds the organisation he is trying to topple)
>>
>>5413378
>Oh my background lets me have one +1 weapon and it's a katana. I even gave it a name and everything. Here's its 106 page backstory.
I can practically taste it.
>>
>>5413382
I can't confirm what you might find out at sea.
Though if Dragon is having people in his army act as bounty hunters he's not doing a very good job at it.
Honestly, the stuff going on in the Conomi Islands is just a massive red flag as to the absolute worthlessness of the marines as a force for justice. They couldn't spare one Vice Admiral for a decade to put a stop to Arlong blatantly flexing on pretty much all of East Blue in not giving a fuck?

>>5413383
Tashigi would totally be one of those people who'd burst into a tangent about how superior Katanas are to other types of swords and then be forced to shut up when somebody pointed out that the only Katana (we know of so far) ranked among the twelve Supreme Grade Meito is cursed to shit.
>>
>>5413395
Actually, if we join, we could act as his Bounty Hunters.

Get rid of certain bastards he wants out of the sea's, and get money out of the Marines Pockets.

Perfect way too fund a revolution
>>
>>5413395
Tashigi, a mountain of cringe concealing a well-meaning heart. Also cleavage.
>>
>>5413401
Honestly, if there's anybody in the ocean that Dragon considers bad enough for the world that they need to be taken care of be the revolutionaries, he's probably not going to be all too interested in the bounty reward for them.

>>5413403
The same is true for most of the marines honestly, good intentions but absolute horrible execution. It shouldn't really be that difficult for most people to see how fucked the situation actually is, but the existence of the Yonkou (of which two are truthfully proper bastards) is realistically good for the World Government as it kind of helps distract from the fact that the World Nobles do shit like delete entire countries for reading books or take part in blatant slavetrading
>>
Oh right, and vote called. This will be today's last update.
>>
>>5413395
I can't believe I have an excuse to drop the ol'copypasta

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Cutlass" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.
I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine meito in Wano Country for 2,400,000,000,000 Berri (that's about $2) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.
Wano smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.
Katanas are thrice as sharp as pirate swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a cutlass can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a lawless pirate with a simple vertical slash.
Ever wonder why the Gol D Roger never bothered pillaging Wano? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in the Void Century, Alliance soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.
So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:
(One-Handed Exotic Weapon) 1d12 Damage 19-20 x4 Crit +2 to hit and damage Counts as Masterwork
(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon) 2d10 Damage 17-20 x4 Crit +5 to hit and damage Counts as Masterwork
Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?
tl;dr = Katanas need to do more damage in d20, see my new stat block.

Dragon may also see the value in having a "non criminal" asset who can go around and selectively remove threats to the government to subtly guide their attentions elsewhere. If there aren't many notable pirates in a region they'll have to put more resources in other places, publicly at least.

Very 3d chess.

I feel like a lot of the marines are just kinda dumb. Either that or they've fallen into the "greater good and evil" trap. Sad.

>>5413422
Based
>>
>>5413426
The problem with being a non-criminal asset is that the asset will eventually have to do shit like tolerate the presence of a World Noble engaging in slavery or taking potshots at an orphange or some other fucked up shit in front of him, or not take action against any Marines trying to for example, arrest their friends.
That isn't even mentioning that it's hard not being a criminal asset when you make the Marines/World Government look bad by existing.
Do you really think that they'd permit the existence of an individual who could for example, take on one of the Shichibukai and win?
They'd probably give them the ultimatum of "Join the marines or become a Shichibukai, your indepedant days are over."

A lot of the grunt marines are dumb, but people like Smoker should really be able to see through the bullshit, but I guess he got too caught up on his seething rage for stretchy rubber boy to notice that he's serving the whims of murderers and slavers that refuse to even consider the notion of breathing the same air as him.

Anyway, looks like you'll be telling the party just about enough of your powers for them to understand your general capabilities.
>>
>>5413435
Dragon would definitely ask that of some of his more trusted subordinates. He'd also probably at least float the idea of have a shiggydiggy in his pocket as well.

Smoker's excuse, too many carcinogens. He'd probably have four whole lung cancers if he hadn't eaten a logia at this point.
>>
It should be reminded that the world government basically went full retard mode after marineford because akainu took over and the worst generation started upsetting the balance

Before that, the world government's crimes were pretty much hidden. The only people who even went to places like Sabaody were already hardened pirates.
>>
>>5413435
I think at least some of the marines were sold to them as children and indoctrinated all their life to be loyal to the marines and believe in the marine idea of justice.
It's what the chick who ran the orphanage Big Mom is from did, and one of the Giant Admirals or Vice-Admirals was sold to them as a chiild.
>>
>>5413442
Even with that in mind, people have always loathed the World Nobles for being general dickheads, hell, people hating World Nobles to such an incredible degree is pretty much the entire cause behind Doffy's backstory.
Then there's stuff like Law's backstory, or even the question of "hey, why is Ohara labelled as NOTHING HAPPENED HERE island on the new map you're selling?"
People seem to hate the World Nobles in setting but also nobody really seems to have much of a spine when it comes to standing up to them because getting your entire island Buster Called for shooting one of the little shits is something that most people wouldn't consider a fair trade.
Which is why you sabotage their ships to explode when they're in the middle of the ocean, what a tragic terrible accident.
>>
>>5413435
Pretty sure Smoker has several times expressed disgust at WG actions like giving him credit for defeating Crocodile, which is why Fujitora refused to do so.
>>
>>5413456
Being disgusted by their actions just means he's aware of the true awfulness of the system he willingly partakes in and helps uphold.
>>
>>5413459
Ok, and wha are his other options too help people? Not like the Revs do much that he knows about, and if he became a Pirate or Bounty hunter he would be shot on site.

The WG go out of their way to portray themselves as the good guys, and will turn the public against you if you go against them in any way, shape or form.

They are simple an organised military under the pretense of peace who have a with us or against us moto.
>>
>>5413464
It's just hypocritical of him to be so anti-pirate when the people he directly works for are pretty blatantly worse than the vast majority of the pirates he'd be taking down.
Also, you'd think people would ask questions about how suddenly islands go missing or "Wait, why did our military destroy our center of government to kill a grand total of 0 pirates?"
>>
>>5413472
Tbf, that probably doesn't happen 'too often'

Hell, most Marines probably don't even know the truth about Ohara, no reason too not let sleeping dogs lay dead.

Honestly, he probably never left Logutown cause he didn't want to risk corruption affecting him home. Luffy was just too much like Roger for him too let go though.
>>
>>5413474
They literally destroyed their entire center of government because there are barely any checks and balances in place to the point where an imbecile can press a single button and get pretty much any island bombarded into a ruin with no questions asked.
It's a stunningly incompetently run organization, though if that can't be recognized by the people in the organization from the fact that they do the equivelant the US Military of letting the leaders of hired PMCs stroll into Guantanamo Bay for no reason with the Shichibukai being allowed to just check out Impel Down, I think some of them might just be lost causes.
God damn World Government needs to learn how to properly OpSec.
>>
>>5413479
Hey, that was sky high levels of Nepotism there!
>>
>>5413479
You don't need to OpSec when your emperor can literally delete countries out of existence.
>>
>>5413483
I mean, they could basically do that already with Buster Calls, but I guess there's always the difference between a Base Delta Zero and the old Death Star Superlaser when it comes to being impressive.

>>5413481
It's still funny.
How long do you think Dragon laughed for when he read the headline "World Government destroys Enies Lobby to destroy pirates. 0 Pirate casualties."?
>>
>>5413486
I imagine they pinned the whole thing on Luffy

>>5413483
Who gives them money if they delete all the countries?
>>
>>5413479
I wonder what levels of absolute bullshit would happen if someone made a buster call for Mary Geoise.
>>
>>5413492
>sneak into Marineford
>find where they keep the Golden Den Den Mushis
>press the buttons on all of them
>???
>profit

>>5413488
I'm really not sure that makes them look any better than "an accident blew up all of Enies Lobby".
The headline "Pirates breaks into Enies Lobby, destroys all opposition and completely level entire island before escaping." is just as bad if not worse.
>>
>>5413496
Well, they blamed the whole thing on CP9, so maybe they pretended their was a revolt or some shit?
>>
>>5413498
I don't really think that Oda thought of the realistic consequences of Luffy sorta being directly responsible for the obliteration of one of the centers of world power at the time, really.
>>
>>5413504
Dunno why it was even called that, it never really did anything.

Impel Down, prison which keeps every pirate, revolutionary and rogue marine.

Marineford, the stronghold of the Marines and where the Fleet Admiral usually rests and gathers for important meetings. Also used too make public executions

Ennies Lobby, houses CP9.... sometimes? Guess it funcitons as a half arsed courtroom

"Alright... so here's the deal, everyone." You knew that this wasn't exactly going to be the easiest conversation, but... well you had to say something at some point, and the sooner you did, the better. "I'm... not exactly a normal person, I've got abilities that I don't think anybody else in the world has." You decided that you'd just open things normally, and see where it went from there.

"Wait... you mean, like a devil fruit? But how? You were diving with me just a few days ago! You... you didn't eat the fruit we found, did you?" Urchii sounded shocked that you'd decide to eat the fruit, but you shook your head.

"Nope, that..." you reached into your inventory, grabbing the fruit and pulling it out of thin air in front of your crew, who were all visibly shocked by the sudden display of power. "Is right here." You examined the fruit in your hand for a moment before shoving it back into your inventory. "It's the Thermite-Thermite fruit, a Special Paramecia... which is like a Logia in pretty much all the important ways." Really, you couldn't help but consider the distinction that was made to be a pretty pointless one. "Thermite itself is an incredibly hot burning substance, but I'm holding off on eating it." The rest of your crew clearly had no idea what Thermite was, so you moved on.

"No, my powers... well they're something I woke up with the ability to use. They're not Devil Fruit powers though, otherwise I wouldn't be able to swim." Really, you didn't know what the implications of the system were, or where or what they had stemmed from, but you weren't complaining. "Basically... I've got an odd assortment of powers, for example, my power seems to be able to grow faster than normal and... I can sort of... view the values of my own abilities and that of other people numerically, and also increase those values permanently... or at least I can for my own sake." Your crew continued to listen in silence as you explained things to them, until finally Jacob broke his silence.

"I knew it... I knew that there was far more to you than met the eye! You're like... a Greater Human!" The wolf man looked oddly excited at the prospect, and you really wanted to get a little bit of clarity from the man, he didn't really seem to be the sort to get excited over nothing after all.

"Huh...?" The hell was a Greater Human? You'd never heard something like that before.

"Oh... sorry, it's just... back on Zou, people had a habit of referring to humans as 'Lesser Minks'. It's something I never really picked up myself, but... the idea behind it was that humans were just hairless ape minks that didn't have the power to use Electro, which led to the term... most minks didn't seem to understand how offensive such a term actually is though." Jacob frowned before Cutter suddenly coughed loudly.
>>
"Guess by that logic, being unable to breath underwater makes Minks, 'lesser mammalian fish-men' then, don't it?" Cutter cut into the conversation, and he did have a point, judging races by their capabilities in such a manner was ridiculous.

Jacob just shrugged. "What can I say, I only remember Zou from my youth, not like I agree with how they think of other people. Either way, if the captain has abilities unique to only him that neither humans or Minks have, that would mean that the whole Lesser Mink thing is totally bogus... wait, you are a human, right?" Jacob suddenly seemed to start to ponder about your origins, and you wondered where he was going with that.

"Uhh... as far as I know, I am." You didn't really know, but you certainly felt like a human, and nothing had given you any reason to believe you weren't a human.

"Don't be stupid! Of course Copper is a human! What sort of a question is that!" Urchii spoke up now, and Jacob quickly shut up. "Anyway, I don't think you were done, were you, Captain?"

"Ah, right. Among other things, I have an elevated level of growth, I can learn skills faster than most people... and I can observe things to gain a level of insight about them that I would usually not be able to possibly have. It's how I was able to pick out my sword from the garbage in the sword shop... and it was how I was able to instantly determine the name of the Devil Fruit that we found, Urchii." You smiled at the mermaid, and she smiled back. "But... I'm still trying to figure out just where my capabilities lie."

"Hmm..." Jacob started to laugh, and everyone turned to look at the wolf man as he struggled to get control of himself, eventually though he managed to recover, wiping a tear from his eye as he spoke. "Wait... if nobody else knows about your abilities... then why don't you pretend that they are from a devil fruit? Pretend to have weaknesses that you don't actually have so that marines do stupid stuff like try to use Seastone on you, or dump you into the ocean!" That... was actually a pretty good idea, by feigning a weakness that you didn't actually have, you could gain an easy advantage over anybody who might try to use water against you to their advantage... anyone like say, a fish-man!

"Either way, I'm happy you told us about this, Captain. That you trust us enough to let us know your secrets." Urchii seemed happy to have been told, but... before you could respond to her, something... had popped up your vision.

Typically though, the limit to what can fit in your inventory is anything that isn't larger than you are.

You didn't even hesitate to press the 'yes' button that had appeared in your field of vision, and the results were... well the results were instant and immediate, as your entire crew broke out into confused shouting as their vision was almost certainly taken up by a text box.

"C-captain?! W-what is this?!" Urchii pointed at nothing in particular in front of her as she tried to back away from the text box, and the same was true for the rest of your crew, even Haruki seemed to be trying to shuffle backwards away from something. What a mess.

"Everyone, please calm down... I think that I just uncovered a new aspect to my powers. There's nothing to worry about." You informed your crew that nothing bad had happened, you hadn't expected that they'd be able to see something similar to you, but... well, looks like the system was full of surprises sometimes. "What's happened is that you're probably seeing a box in your vision, right?"

"Mhm, it's... asking me if I'd like to... join your party, whatever that means." Urchii seemed to have managed to recover from the sudden appearance in her vision first, and actually seemed to want to know more about what exactly was happening.

"Uh... try clicking yes. To be honest, I don't really know what will happen, but I can only imagine it'll be helpful." Party systems... something that you were at least a little bit familiar with still, and with any luck, something that you'd be able to use in order to help your allies gain attribute points to spend for themselves so that they don't fall behind you. Your enhanced growth being something that could be shared would be an incredible development.

"If you say so." Urchii did as you asked, and you noticed that the same was clearly true of the rest of your group too, as you saw their HP bars floating above their head, and... when you used observe on them you realized that you had more information than before, their perks and their skills had also been revealed to you! But... more importantly than anything else, their free attribute points as well! You looked through each and every one of their newly updated information, with even Haruki managing to figure out what she was supposed to do, and you soon figured out that unlike them, you had something of an advantage over them, it seemed like they only gained five free points for every 'level' that they had. (Character Sheets added!)

You spent a little bit of time explaining what they were seeing, and how their attributes were indications of themselves, and it looked like everyone eventually managed to figure out exactly what they were looking at as they were now able to look at their own statistics.

"Hey! Why is my intelligence so low?" Cutter sounded pissed as he was clearly able to see that his intelligence... well it did sort of leave quite a bit to be desired, really.

"Not really sure, I don't believe that it's a direct correlation to how smart you are, but more... how fast you can think, mental calculations, that sort of stuff." You decided it would probably be best to calm down the fish man regardless, and that was about accurate to how things worked. You were sort of wondering how Haruki even managed to press the 'yes' button, but you supposed that it didn't truly matter. Right now... you had four, or rather, three people and a pet who each needed to be instructed on how to apply their newly acquired attribute points...

>Choose how to instruct your crew on how to distribute their attribute points, and if you want, to, distribute your own points. (Your crew will not be healed upon spending all their attribute points unlike you.)
>Aside from Haruki, you can simply tell your crew to apply their attribute points how they wish.

I think we should let'em use their attributes however they want to, right? Seems fair.

For Haruki, i think we should go
>20 STRENGTH

The perks and skills of your crew are on their character sheets, which can be reached by the link in the OP post.

I won’t be upgrading Haruki’s Charisma again, I just wanted a decent Charisma score for when she’s dealing with other cats.

Take advantage of the Speed in water stat, while also bringing everythign else up by a decent amount. Mostly focused on his weaker stats, but gave Agility the Lions share so he can outspeed Arlong in the water.

We gotta give this Cat some brains, while the rest isn't as important, no Charisma since 45 with cats is enough :V

Intellignece is literally how you use things to your advantage, she sis still a fighter, and you need to fight smart.

Stealth is used by animals because they are smarter than what they are hunting, brainpower is constantly used in fights to gain an advantage, either by surroundings, tricking your opponent, or figuring out the best way to kill them.

Its not just 'Get an education and become a Doctor'

The cat just needs to be smarter. The sole reason being that if it does make it easier to teach her or grant her secondary communication skills outside of typical cat posturing.

I don't really care what the other attributes are.

Hey shiver, It might be best to roll the order of the rolls all in one post, and then the number themselves.
So a 7d7 and then a 7d55, to not do it one by one
>>
Rolled 21 (1d53)

>>5414241
>>
>>5414241
>>5414242
>+23 CHA
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Kitty wanted to be cute!
>>
Rolled 1 (1d4)

>>5414244
Maybe but then the odds are highly likely I'll get repeats and I'll have to roll multiple times anyway.

1 Strength
2 Vitality
3 Intelligence
4 Luck

Alright, 1d30 now please.
>>
>23 charisma
AAAAND in the garbage it goes

Alright, she's useless now

Rolled 24 (1d30)

Rolled 12 (1d30)

>>5414249

>>5414241
I did say averages. We could roll 7 d10, add them all up, and turn the % of each into the corresponding stat.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d6)

Just to speed this up
>>
Rolled 1 (1d3)

1 Vitality
2 Intelligence
3 Luck

Lets see what's getting that coveted 5 statpoints,
>>
So 1 will, 23 cha, 21 will and 20 on luck
>>
>>5414262
LAMO

Kitty wanted to be dumb!
>>
Rolled 1 (1d2)

and finally, the very last roll, for one extra point, will it be 1 intelligence, or 2 luck?
>>
Rolled 1 (1d2)

>>5414262
And I guess a cointoss for who gets O N E whole point.

I am satisfied. Twice as int as before.
>>
Well, we wasted several hours, and ended up getting some horrible, garbage stat spread.

Can we just put the crew's level on 'auto' for now on?
>>
So
1 Willpower
1 Agility
23 Charisma
24 Strength
5 Vitality
1 Int

>>5414276
Anon, I don't really know what to say, but from where I'm standing, this statspread isn't actually that bad at all.
>>
>>5414273
Not surprised really, but at least it’s more combat capable now.
>>
From now on I will support any stat increases that do not increase cat's INT. Even complete CHA dumps.

>>
>>5414295
Ah, yes. That 1 Int. I’m glad for you mate.
>>
>>5414299
Hey, technically that makes her smarter than 60 percent of all background marines and pirates, so that's still an accomplishment.
>>
>>5414299
Thank you. Any int is better than no int. And through perseverance I will see it rise again.

>>5414301
Oof
>>
>>5414301
Shit, you right. She’s clearly smarter than the majority of the planet. No need to increase it further since she’s the smartest cat in existence.
>>
Personally, I would let Haruki choose in the future
I want to see what abomination of a build we would end up with.
>>
>>5414305
I wonder how many INT raises she will randomly need before she starts allocating stats intelligently.
>>
>>5414302
The funniest shit is that I was gonna stat dump Int for the Cat next level up, and now I’m gonna vote to stat dump into Cha just for the memes. Gonna turn this cat into a full fledged girl Himbro.
>>
>>5414304
No it's mostly just because signing up to be a low ranked marine who solely exists to be used as cannon fodder comes with a permanent 90 percent intelligence debuff.

...Poor Coby, he used to be so gifted.
>>
So what is Coppers build now?
>>
>black eye williams had 1 int
>he just about killed himself with a hanging pot
>our cat is officially twice as smart therefore half as likely to almost kill herself with a hanging pot

>>5414311
I don't know what a himbro is but I'm sure there's a word for the female version. It's nice that you've got a plan at least. It makes the voting go quicker if we ever do it again. But I'm going to flood int with every pet we may or may not get. Especially a bird. We'll get a ship's crow or parrot and it'll ride Haruki around and they'll be our reverse Lucci and Hattori.

>>5414385
Could always leave the vote pending and have people fight for days until it's finally called up and the voting goes wild for a couple minutes as the allocating hordes clash in a final violent confrontation. All the while getting on with the rest of the quest.

To be fair though the stats for Copper have always been at least somewhat contentious. Everyone seems to have at least a little different idea as to where they want the points to go from the start. Nothing new. Now people are just being memelords.
>>
I am not voting for meme builds be it now or later.
Any stat spread that doesn't put at least half of our points into agility is a joke stat spread.
>>
>>5414385
Well, i suggested agi, but I also want to raise int (since they should work well together in combat).
I just thought that if we were to level up now, we should focus on one of our lowest stats instead of our strongest one
And by what the other anon said, he also wanted to raise agi, but was putting it on int because he was going to train it during the 10 days.
So hopefully by delaying the vote, we are actually merging the two groups.

They became the majority because everyone else left by that point. Cause WhatIsAQM encouraged the shit out of the most obnoxious elements of his playerbase while refusing to grow a spine and do something about the most blatant samefagging I have ever seen.

>>
>>5414528
No, they were the majority when the quest was at its peak. If you think most fatefags were against the harem, you are completely deluded. People only began quitting when they got the harem and saw that it wasn't as fun as they thought. Whatis only gave them what they thought and wanted.
>>
>>5414539
I dunno man when I quit people were still pretty excited about the war in general. There was strategy discussion, political autism about making Mordred the emperor of modern Britain, there were clever write-ins. The harem was present but it wasn't the only theme.
>>
>>5414543
>The harem was present
Yes, and that was the problem. When people were talking about Mordred's new empire, that also included wanting to fuck her. It was already too late, the outcome was inevitable. The majority were haremfags and it was natural for the harem to consume the quest as it kept growing with the majority's support.
>>
>>5414543
>>5414552
You should probably move this old quest drama to /qtg/ before Timbers has to put his foot down.
>>
>people are still trying to spam int/cha in a shounen
Up your battle stats I beg of you, there's a reason why all shounen protagonists are dense retards.
>>
>>5414604
There's also a reason why all dense retard shonen protags tend to be worse characters than some of their comrades or antags.
>>
So Shiver, who's your fav one piece character?
>>
>>5414609
An interesting character arc that makes us likeable won't help us if it ends with our death at the hands of Arlong anon.
>>
>>5414625
Hmmm, maybe Bon Clay?
Though I did think Whitebeard was pretty cool too.
>>
>>5414633
Then you better be smart about how you fight him then, eh?
>>
>>5414644
Yeah like the almost 700 int scientist from last thread, how did he fight that battle again?
>>
>>5414649
Ganked in a surprise round, nothing you can do. Bad luck. Try again next time.

Unless you mean to say we should be rolling a 9999 STR/VIT/AGI build and fuckall else. Otherwise we might get hurted.

If he wouldn't have made poor decisions he wouldn't have died. If you don't make poor decisions you can evade all sorts of scenarios in which you'll die. Instead of going into a fight thinking "I'm going to hit him REALLY hard and win" you should optimally be poised to win before the battle even begins. Work smarter, not harder. Make good choices, anon.
>>
>>5414662
"Work smarter" doesn't matter when you're in a world with superhumans. See what happened to buggy. Despite having every single piece of reputation he needed, he just became a whimpering mess reduced to licking the boots of stronger people.

Because guess what? You can't outsmart a fist going into your face.
>>
>>5414662
Or we make a balanced build instead of dumping everything on one stat or another. I just don't want to hit a wall because we don't have the damage output.
Or we dump it all on luck since it's the one stat that hasn't been showed to increase through normal training :^)
>>
>>5414665
Luck in One Piece is flashy, but it just works to get you out of situations, like Zoro throwing the sword into the air.

Luffy's "hit by lightning" thing wasn't even luck, Dragon was there and he was probably the one behind it.
>>
>>5414664
>letting them throw a punch in the first place

>>5414665
No I get that. I just don't want to be a raw beatstick shonen protag. If I wanted to see that I'd just start One Piece over you know?
Flawless logic. I support this 404%.
>>
>>5414649
To be fair, I don't think he would have survived Hephay even if those 700 points were in vit, our giant friend is so strong he shows up as ????
>>
>>5414670
>letting them throw a punch in the first place
And just how do you plan to avoiding that? Unless your plan is to do fuck all, at some point you WILL get into a fight.

Yo can't "out think" your way out of a direct confrontation if the enemy just doesn't want to parlay. You're not fucking Joseph Joestar to go around 'epically tricking' people into losing.
>>
>>5414673
bruh you're giving me a headache. It's not about NOT fighting. It's about making it so that if they do decide to fight they are powerless to actually do anything. You don't go into it treating it like a boxing match. If your plan relies on you getting the piss beat out of you just a little bit better than the other guy, it's a shit plan. They had this strategic thinking sorted out over a thousand years ago.
>>
>>5414690
Again, and how the fuck are you gonna do that?

Like, let's say that the navy decides to send an admiral after us. The fuck are we gonna do? We can't argue our way out of that.
>>
>>5414690
That's all fine and dandy but by the very rule of quests if things can go tits up they will. Which means either one of our crew members can drop the ball on the plan due to insufficient stats, we drop the ball due to shit rolls, we get hit with an unforseen variable in the plan or the thread gets hit with a sudden onset of autism and makes a dumb and terrible decision because "it would be funny lol". Beatsticks are often more reliable when intrigue isn't involved, not that I'm defending making Copper a total beatstick, since gray zones do exist.
>>
>>5414695
And we can't do anything with some extra vitality or shit man.

Don't make an impossible argument to defend your point
>>
>>5414673
Can't we? What if- wait, look behind you, is that a three-headed monkey?!
>>
>>5414698
With actual physical stats, we would be able to do something other than die.
>>5414700

Against a ficking Admiral

Sure, I appreciate those 3 extra seconds of Akainu melting our face off
>>
>>5414705
We've seen that you can, in fact, get away from an Admiral.

But guess what? You won't be able to do anything if you dumped all your stats into intelligence and charisma. At best, you'll end up like buggy, and loser relying on everyone else to do literally anything of worth.

But do talk more about how your keikaku intelligence stat means you'll never ever ever be in a fight, *ever*, because you're just so smart.
>>
Can this please autism stop? There isn't even a reason for it anymore.
>>
>>5414708
I'm so done I can't even spell, lmao.
>>
>>5414708
The ride never ends.
>>
>>5414708
We're gonna keep having stat arguments until we decide on a build
>>
>>5414718
Anon, there is no deciding on a build on a quest. We'll be having these arguments every time stats are to be allocated.
>>
>>5414695
Tell me again how you think you're going to punch Akainu to death before he burns our ship down in the middle of the ocean and consigns us to the drink? Or tank through getting turned into a Popsicle from the slightest tap from Aokiji. Or dodge beams of actual light until Kizaru gets tired enough to stop? Oh I guess you want to sit around and train every single day for years until we can get stats high enough to try and stat-check some of the strongest people in the setting.

Just don't fight fair or how they want to.

>>5414696
The dice do as the dice do. But making smart decisions should still lessen the pain they'll bring. A nat 1 with 100 vit trying to block a club will hurt just as much as a nat 1 trying to use a tree as a shield with less vit. And anons being anons wouldn't be much better with high physicals either. Slamming your head against a wall once with a thin skull - bad. Slamming your head against a wall 100 times with a thick skull - still bad. And if people are feeling particularly dumb that day, they'll absolutely try it 100 times.

Which is why you never have just one plan. And you don't rube goldberg it either. But I'm also not advocating making our physicals et al a dumpstat. Which seems to be what y'all are assuming. I want mental leaning not phys neglected. I also didn't even vote for our stats this time.

>>5414707
>But do talk more about how your keikaku intelligence stat means you'll never ever ever be in a fight, *ever*, because you're just so smart.

>>
>>5414722
>Tell me again how you think you're going to punch Akainu to death before he burns our ship down in the middle of the ocean and consigns us to the drink?
Having actual physical stat means we can do something instead of instantly dying. As it's shown in one piece, you *can* escape from admirals. But just trying to "outsmart" them - which, by the way, you have never said how we would - won't work

Simply put, your 'intelligence' matters fuck all in an situation where we are forced to fight. And those situations will always be there.
>Literally you are the only one saying that, you hyperfixated mong.
No, i'm the one who doesn't seem to want to make an intelligence/charisma build that will be literally useless the moment things get serious and we're not just trying to swindle an proud idiot like that scientist.
>>
>>5414708
Every anime quest has this kind of autistic debate in the beginning, you just have to weather the storm until one side gives up.
>>
>>5414724
See this anon gets it. That's why I put all my points into LUCK BABY, ALL ABOUT THAT LUCK! WHO CARES IF THE ROAD IS DIFFICULT AND THE BATTLES PUT US AT DEATH'S DOOR THE PAYOUT WILL BE HUUUUUUUUUUUGEEEEEEE! LET'S GO LUCK CHADS WOOOO
>>5414722
I wouldn't mind a more brainy character, we already have a One Piece Quest with a beatstick retard at the helm (god bless Silver), it's just that if we can barely decide how to spend stats I don't see us pulling off any keikaku sheenanigans anytime soon as much as I would like to see them, so at an early phase making ourselves physically stronger may harbor better results, although then we may have the problem of ending up with a beatstick anyway if we neglect the other stats.
>>
>>5414724
"Training" is nothing compared to using free points to increase power. It tooks us a long-ass time to even raise our physicals to complete the first quest we got.

Furthermore, "INT" matters fuck all if WE, as the players, can't think up of an smart plan, and we certainly cannot.
>>
>>5414737
I hope that one side isn't that anon that wanted to obey Dr. Mengele, you know, the one that highlight words using asterisks? He was both insufferable and refused to stop until the update proved him wrong.
>>
>>5414736
It's not even "outsmarting" you dipstick. It's preparing. You know how you beat Borsalino? A mirror. He has trouble course correcting after he does his little lightshow. If you can time it right which requires you having high enough perception to identify you can alter his course and send him far enough away quickly enough that he can't immediately reengage. Akainu? Target his ship before he gets close enough. Mines, train a shark to attack rudders. Just lurk under the water and put a big enough hole in his vessel. Aokiji? Nah he's chill you just stay far enough away from him in the first place and you're good. It's pretty easy to see him coming most of the time. Either because the wind currents change from the temperature fluctuations or you can see a mile long ice sheet suddenly appear on the horizon.

If you can completely avoid the fight, do it. If you can't then that's when you make sure the deck is stacked in your favor. Certain threats can be avoided and others need to be dealt with. Instead of treating everything like a nail with your face being the hammer you should consider analyzing things first. And you're STILL fixated on stuff that I hadn't even suggested in the first place. Chill the fuck out dude.

Also I'm reasonably certain that each of the haki types applies to will and at least one other stat. With int likely to be the one for observation. Which is way more useful in general than armament which would be str/vit. This is speculation, though. So I don't really consider this a valid argument, I just thought I'd share for funsies. Get some speculation going.

>>5414738
Silver is pretty goated. Bless his little brain. And see that's a good argument. But at the same time it's easy to fall into the sunk cost shit and end up with anons only ever pumping one stat set because they've already started. Or too evenly distributing them to try and combat it.
>>
>>5414756
Good luck setting up any of those traps without the necessary agility or strength. Even if they were to work - which, they would only do for a single time at best, IF they didn't just brute force their way through it, you would have to be strong enough to fight any other enemies (since your plans are all attention consuming, and marines always have backup) AND to get out before you left.

Like, whats stopping borsalino from transforming mid jump like he often does and punting us into the ground? The Supernovas survived, but we would not if we had an INT/CHA build.
>>
Hey guys it’s just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man here telling you that we’re reaching the 500 Replies mark on Page 1. Just thought I’d let you all know.
>>
>>5414765
Nah big guy, your turn. How are we going to survive being strangled by Akainu with high vit? How are you going to punch the light beams away from punching holes in you with high strength? How are you going to dodge when your legs are frozen into the ground with high agi?

See how stupid that sounds? When you propose what-ifs constantly? And how having raw stats doesn't save you from a worst case scenario anyway? Having a plan is better than having big muscles. You can't raw power your way through certain foes. The admirals are one of them. The supernovas only survived because Kizaru was soloing all of them and kept turning his attention from one to the next without caring enough to take the time to finish them off. If it was Akainu they would all be dead save the strawhats who got plot armored by Rayleighs and ex machina'd away by Kuma. They didn't survive because they were just so tough (since some of them weren't as tough as the others) but because Kizaru is a bit too aloof and distracted.

"OK, so basically... by spending your points, you'll find that you'll be better at doing whatever it is that each attribute represents, so... putting your points in agility means you'll get faster, vitality means you can take more damage... that sort of stuff." You quickly told your crew just how spending their points was supposed to work, and they seemed to get the message fairly quickly, the three of them quickly coming to the conclusion as to just what the most important things were for them to put some spare points into, and you were happy to see that all of them had decided by themselves that having low luck was a pretty awful situation to be in.

"Huh... what an incredible power..." Urchii used her tail to launch herself into the sky, flipping off the ground with ease before using her hands to catch herself before hitting the ground. "Huh... I really am quicker than I was before! What an interesting power..." The mermaid seemed intrigued by the implications that your power actually had, to allow anybody to become a good deal stronger through practically no effort on their part! Not to mention that the effect would be even greater on somebody who was of a higher level, somebody who was a level 100 would have a whole 500 points to assign however they pleased!

"Agreed. Our captain... well, I knew there was something special about him the moment I saw him... but to think that he was hiding a power like this? Well, I can hardly believe it myself." Jacob nodded, and Cutter shared in the sentiment, of course, he had seen the greatest gains, being the highest level of any of you when you had actually started, and he was pretty easily the most powerful member of your group now.

"Right... but this alone won't be enough to defeat Arlong, even with this power, I'd wager that even working together we wouldn't be able to defeat him." The fish man frowned deeply, and you looked closely at him. "If I had to wager, I'd say that going by this system, then Arlong... he'd probably be in the two hundreds for strength, agility and vitality... though I can't say much for his charisma or intellect."
>>
You nodded as the fish man gave his assessment on Arlong's strength, before you noticed that you hadn't been paying attention to Haruki! You looked at the tiger only to realize that she had... well she'd figured things out in her own way, she'd managed to somehow assign all of her free points mostly by just swiping at the screen, randomly distributing them out among her stats, ending up with a great deal of Charisma and Strength and little else. On the bright side though, she had at least managed to assign a single one of her free points to her intelligence, so with any luck she'd be a little smarter in the future. You wondered how smart she was now, she didn't have an intelligence score before you had made her your pet, and a score of one was apparently equal to an incredibly dumb person. Perhaps it might be possible for her to actually start to understand how language worked in order to listen to more than just the tone behind your words?

You didn't scold the tiger or anything for assigning her points in such a random way, it's not like she could really be expected to understand how the system worked either way. In fact, it was a miracle that she had managed to assign her points at all simply through continually swiping at the screen in front of her!

"Huh... two hundreds, huh...? Well, if we do get desperate, we can always rely on the Thermite fruit, he shouldn't be able to handle that, right?" You were actually quite cautious, you were familiar with the so-called invulnerability of Logia fruits, but somebody like Arlong, the so-called strongest pirate in East Blue, what if he had some sort of means to defeat even a Logia? Something like Sea-Stone, maybe, that was something that was a little more documented than whatever the special method to damage Logias was that was torn out of the book, a special mineral that contained the properties of the sea that could strip devil fruit users of their power! What if Arlong used something like that?

"Captain, we're in East Blue. East Blue is the sea that somebody with a Logia might choose to sail in if they wished to feel invulnerable. The weakness of this sea is exactly why Arlong chose to set up here in the first place, no competition." Cutter looked in the direction of the sea. "Against somebody with a Logia on their side, Arlong would be hopelessly outmatched." Cutter seemed to have faith that the Logia equivalent weapon that you kept in your back pocket would be enough to defeat Arlong, and you were satisfied enough with that. If he believed that the Logia would be enough, then you'd be happy with that answer.
>>
"Alright then. If you're confident that your captain is only that much more powerful than we are, then we'll set off. I hope I don't have to resort to eating a devil fruit to win, but... if it comes to it, I won't hesitate." If it was a choice between being able to swim and being able to survive or save your crew from danger, then it was obvious what choice should be made. As far as you could tell, you were in something of a situation where it wasn't possible for you to lose. So long as everyone got powerful enough by the time you were at Arlong's base, there wouldn't be a threat! "Let's go!" You pointed towards the jungle and started to lead the way after scooping Urchii up and carrying her, soon arriving at the center, where Hephay was waiting for you.

"Ah... so you have prepared a proper crew for yourself... this is good." The giant nodded as he looked at your chosen companions. "They all have... spirit, I can tell." The giant smiled as he knelt down and offered his hand for the five of you to stand on, and you all quickly hopped aboard, though Haruki was originally somewhat hesitant of getting too close to the giant, after seeing you have no problem, she quickly jumped on too, her leaping prowess was pretty damn impressive. You'd hate to be at the receiving end of one of those pounces! Oh wait.

"That's right. You're prepared yourself?"

"But of course, In fact, I have been prepared this past week to grant you the passage you seek." The giant lifted the five of you into the air as he raised his hand, before he started to walk through the jungle, his massive size meaning he towered over even the largest of the trees in the jungle, smashing his way through any that were in his path without even bothering to register their presence. This man... this giant... he was like a living machine of destruction! No wonder you couldn't register just how high his stats were!

Before long, you were all at the coast to the island, though on the opposite side to that of the island that the village had been built on, Hephay obviously didn't want to be a burden to the village and cause too much destruction with his mere presence. "OK! It should take me about... four hours to swim you to the island, where you'll find supplies and a ship that you'll be able to use, just remember to press the resupply Den Den Mushi when you're finished." The giant seemed to be aware of the protocol of the Revolutionary Army, and you nodded and gave a thumbs up.
>>
"Of course, thanks for all this, Hephay." The giant smiled at you, clearly he was still grateful for you having managed to free him. But... if you had a few hours before arriving on the secret revolutionary island, that meant you'd have a fair bit of free time to get up to pretty much whatever you wanted while the giant swam you across the ocean!

Can we please get an actual option to read those skillbooks that are in our inventory? As long as they stay in the write-in territory we are never going to read them because anons have memory spans of a goldfish.
Also can we get a clarification if it's possible to pick more than one option or not?

While traveling on Hephay's back, watching with no small amount of awe at the sheer velocity that the giant could swim with, you decided that now would be a good time to finally read the skillbooks you had gotten back on Loguetown, you'd mostly just forgotten about reading them. So much had happened so quickly that actually reading the books had been lurking at the back of your mind for far too long, so with that in mind you grabbed the two books out of your inventory and tried to open them.

However, upon trying to read the books, you realized that... well you couldn't actually open them, either of them, and you were simply faced with a prompt that asked if you'd like to learn the skills held within the books instead. It was... odd, but useful, and a great way to save time and learn some skills that you wouldn't otherwise be able to learn without hours and hours if not days of focus and practice!

[Activated Ability Learned: Sense Motive Lvl 1: When conversing with somebody, this skill can be used to determine the motive behind what they are saying, however at level 1 it is only able to determine truth from lies, and has a chance of failure.]

[Activated Ability Learned: Quickdraw Lvl 1: When drawing a weapon, by using this skill, you can draw it twice as quickly as you would otherwise be able to, be it blade or gun.]

Both were incredibly useful skills, especially being able to determine whether or not somebody was lying, but... at a low level, it wasn't fantastic, especially with the chance of failure. It meant that the chance for false positives or outright failures was something that you'd need to take into account when trying to use... but at the same time, even if it wasn't guaranteed to be successful, it could still prove useful if you had suspicions that you were being lied to. Of course, Quickdraw was also incredibly useful too, perhaps even more so than the ability to determine whether somebody was lying to you or not, you never knew when you were going to get into a fight, and being able to draw your weaponry quickly would definitely prove to be helpful in that case.

But your new activated abilities aside, 'reading' the books hadn't take anywhere close to the time you thought it was going to take you considering that they imparted the information that they contained onto you instantly, though they also disappeared in the process... looks like that sort of skill book was a one-use thing. You wondered if the same was true for any books you might find outside of the system if they too were written specifically for the purpose of teaching the reader how to learn a single skill. Something to keep in mind for the future... also, you wondered if the same could be done for your crew, could they now receive the same benefits you did? They received attribute points thanks to being hooked up to the system after all, even if it was to a lesser extent than what you received...
>>
With the fact that learning the skills only took you about 5 minutes in total, you needed to figure out another way to spend your time as you waited to arrive to the Revolutionary Outpost island, and you quickly decided on something that would pass the time. Trying to learn Fish Man Karate.

It wasn't something you had a great deal of information on, but... from what you understood of the principles you had read as an anecdote in a book at some point, it was a special form of combat that utilized water as a medium of attack. Something like... projecting vibrations through water so that even unarmed attacks at range hit as if they had struck the target directly. Of course a fighting style like that was many times more effective underwater, but there was also water vapor in the atmosphere that the martial art could use too! But... it was something that needed to be taught, there weren't any books at all about it in Loguetown's library, and something told you that that place was going to be one of the few places in the world with as many books as there had been, and they hadn't stocked any books that actually functioned as a guide to the martial art. Then again, maybe you'd have more luck if you were to go to Fish Man island to look at their libraries... but the home of the fish men and merfolk was a tremendous distance away, positioned in the center of the Grand Line!

Therefore... you approached Cutter, who was sitting down and contemplating things, though he looked up at you as soon as you approached. "So... Cutter... you know how to use Fish-Man Karate, don't you?" you asked with interest, and the fish man looked at you for a moment before nodding.

"I do... but I'm not exactly the greatest practitioner of it, I prefer my blade, though I did take a few classes in it when I was quite a bit younger, though I'm a little rusty... why, thinking of learning it?" The fish man didn't seem to have any qualms about actually teaching you how to use the style of martial arts, and you nodded. "Alright, well... let's see what I can remember... I'm not exactly the sort of person who should be in a position of teaching, but maybe I can remember enough of the basics to give you a shot at learning them?"

"Oooh! Did somebody say they were thinking of learning Fish-Man Karate?" Urchii joined the conversation with a smile. "Me too! I've been trying to figure it out by myself actually, but... without somebody to tell you where you're supposed to start, it's pretty much impossible!" The mermaid nodded to herself, and you both looked at Cutter, who sighed as he got up.
>>
"Alright then... first off, when you're trying to use Fish-Man Karate, the first step... it's not to imagine you're attacking your target from a far away distance, and it's not to imagine you're attacking the distance either." The fish man breathed in as he closed his eyes, before he thrust his fist forwards, and you noticed a brief disturbance in the air that quickly dissipated. "The trick... is to attack the water itself, to focus your efforts on striking the vapor between you and your foe so that the vibration can travel through!"

You nodded before preparing to follow his instructions...

[Learned Fish-Man Karate 20/1000 [Agility +2 Strength +2]
[Urchii's Fish-Man Karate went up by 20!] [Urchii's Agility and Strength went up by 2!]
[Cutter's Fish-Man Karate went up by 20!] [Cutter's Agility and Strength went up by 2!]

By the time that the island was visible in the distance, you had all managed a fairly effective amount of training, and Cutter had actually managed to brush up on his own Fish-Man Karate skills! Of course, you and Urchii also now knew the basics of the combat style, though at a low level, it wasn't really something that either of you wanted to be relying on in combat, hell, not even Cutter really wanted to use the martial art just yet. Of course at a low level it would obviously be ineffective, you noticed that even during your training, any sort of vibrations that you could cause to reverberate through the water in the atmosphere dissipated less than a meter away from you, and they weren't exactly large enough that they'd be able to do any real damage either. Perhaps underwater, but... with Hephay traveling as quickly as he was, you certainly didn't want to dive off the ship and risk getting left behind!

"Land ahoy!" Jacob yelled out as you rapidly approached the island, and you prepared yourself to disembark, and upon getting close enough to the small island, Hephay stopped.

"Alright, this is about as far as I can take you without just... walking the rest of the way! You guys don't mind swimming the last hundred meters or so, right?" The giant asked, and you shouted in response.

"Not at all! It's not a problem!" It was clear that the water around the island was just a bit too shallow for the giant to swim, and the only place where it wasn't was taken up by the small dock that the sloop was floating on. Hephay was actually larger than the ship that had been prepared for you, and the island was only small. With that in mind, you dived into the water, and after some coaxing from Urchii, Haruki joined you, followed by Urchii, Jacob and then finally Cutter, who had decided to leave last. "See you around, Hephay!"

"Indeed... perhaps with you as a newly instated officer of the Revolutionary Army, hmm?" The giant laughed before starting to swim away, and you wondered just what sort of an organization that the Revolutionary Army really were. Perhaps you'd find some more of your answers here...?
>>
It didn't take long for the five of you to make it ashore, and you were soon standing on the dock near the sloop, there were a few buildings nearby, each conveniently labeled, a storehouse, a barracks, and a communications station.

Actually, I wonder if we can create one-use skill books ourselves. It would be an incredibly useful way of imparting useful skills to our allies.

Unrelated, but a bounty hunter quest in One Piece would be interesting. Like, just imagine in the later stages we become so powerful as to create an official organization for bounty hunter, eventually becoming one of the informal pillars of power in the world (even if we’re still the World Government’s hatchetmen). It would be an interesting to explore, if done right.

Also, purely an intellectual question. If we even do find One Piece, does the quest effectively… double it’s wealth? Just asking for a friend.

Bounty Hunter quest could be fun, but it sadly wasn't to be here, you managed to look under the wrong stone too early, even accidentally. I'd like to see something actually come of the concept of bounties though, other than them just being Unofficial Powerlevels.

As for the One Piece, it really depends on whether or not the One Piece is a big pile of treasure or something else.

After rummaging through the storage house and finding a bunch of useful stuff, most importantly for your upcoming voyage being a bunch of food boxes, though the grenades you had found would almost certainly prove to be useful in the future. Of course, even more useful than the grenades was the grapple gun you had found in a box as well as the wet suit. Both of them improved your mobility by a fairly large amount!

Of course, actually getting in and out of a wet suit would normally take at least a few minutes, even if you knew what you were doing, but you noticed fairly quickly that you could use your abilities in order to instantly equip the wet suit without needing to spend any time actually putting it on! It was something that you'd definitely keep in mind in the future, being able to immediately change your clothing or armor meant that it was almost worth keeping an entire wardrobe in your inventory to choose from! It would be pretty fantastic for the sake of disguises, if you were just able to change your look with the click of an imaginary button, and would almost certainly throw off anybody who theoretically might attempt to pursue you in the future!

With the new equipment safely stashed away in your inventory, you left the storeroom, Urchii and Cutter were both sitting on the dock and talking to each other about their home island, while Haruki and Jacob accompanied you in checking out the buildings, Jacob sounded fairly jealous of your ability to just store an apparently unlimited amount of resources on your person thanks to your inventory, muttering something about how much ammunition he'd be able to carry if he had something similar.

You left the storeroom with a good deal more equipment, the MREs would together allow at least twenty days of travel, though you might have to go fishing so that Haruki had something to eat, you somehow doubted that the tiger would be all too happy to eat MREs. Well it probably wouldn't be hard for either Urchii or Cutter to hunt some fish, and... well, if you were attacked by a smaller Sea-King, you'd be able to receive all useful parts of its body without even needing to butcher it, so long as you actually defeated it.
>>
Oddly, the meat that you had gained from defeating Haruki the first time hadn't decayed or gotten rotten at all despite having been laying in your inventory for about a week now. You also felt kind of awkward about having the meat in the first place... but you tried not to think about that too hard, it was just magically conjured tiger meat, that was all, it wasn't actually Haruki. Right? You'd probably end up throwing the meat out at some point, the thought of it being Haruki would probably only end up making you feel ill when it came to trying to eat it, if it did end up coming to that. Regardless it meant that your inventory probably didn't allow anything that you placed inside it to decay, and the odds were that it even sort of... froze whatever was placed inside of it in time! You'd have to experiment further at a later point, perhaps if you were to check if a lit torch would stay burning if it was placed in your inventory?

The mysteries of your abilities could wait though, you still needed to get on with exploring the rest of the outpost, your next destination was the communications area, it was... really rather handily labeled as such, which you thought was a little strange, but you didn't think too much of it as you pushed open the door and entered the building to find yourself in a very small hallway that led only to a single room ahead. Though... as you walked closer to the door, you felt a very quiet snap and immediately realized that it was trapped!

You, Jacob and Haruki all looked up just in time to see a large weighted rope net falling directly towards you, but none of you panicked a single bit, you rapidly drew Glory, Jacob drew two of his knives and Haruki bared her teeth and claws before all three of you slashed at the ropes, Glory Reforged slashed through with ease as a testament to the near unrivalled quality of the blade, while Jacob and Haruki had a little more difficulty in cutting through the ropes, but were still successful in cleaving through the trap, leaving little more than tattered scraps of rope scattering the hallway.

"Hmmph, looks like somebody doesn't want visitors." Jacob noted, lightly kicking a piece of the rope with his foot.

"Mmm, we should proceed carefully." You noted, before you looked at the door, odds are that there was somebody in the room.

"Anybody in there?" You call out, and wait for a response, the most likely outcome here is that the person inside of the room was in fact somebody working with the Revolutionary Army, but you couldn't be certain, it was an island after all, so that meant it was theoretically possible for it to be found by just about anybody if they were to stumble onto it accidentally. "We uh... we don't mean any harm, but... we got past that trap you set up. We only just arrived on this island."

"Yeah, somebody is in here! Where the hell did you come from?!" The voice that answered back didn't sound very happy.

"Uhh... we came from another island, our ship was wrecked and we ended up washing ashore here." You lied to the man, if he was a revolutionary army agent, then you could actually tell him the real reason behind your arrival, but until that point, you'd just have to pretend you were some random traveler who had stumbled upon the island.

"A wreck, huh? You expect me to believe that? There hasn't been stormy weather in this part of the ocean for over a week!" Once again the man behind the door seemed to doubt what you were saying, but you knew just what to say to him in response.

"Well obviously, do you think sea-kings only show up when its stormy? Don't be stupid." It was an effortless lie, and one that you spoke with such eloquence that it would be difficult for just about anybody to not believe you unless they already knew the truth.

"Alright, fine, even if you were shipwrecked, why would you immediately decide to snoop around in buildings?" You could tell that this guy was way too doubtful of just about everyone, and if he was a revolutionary, then he hadn't gotten the message that you were meant to be arriving.

"It's called a communications station? Why else do you think I'd check this building out? I'm trying to call for help. Now, can I please enter?" You once again lied to the man, and you finally felt like you were really getting somewhere.

"Alright... alright, I believe you. But there's just one more thing." The man paused for a while, leaving you in suspense as you wondered just what he was about to ask next, you were fully prepared to lie about just about anything, just so long as you could get him to open the door, your ability to Observe people would be enough to determine his allegiances, but... well first you had to get him to actually open the door.

"What's that?" You felt anxious as you waited for him to speak once more, until finally, it came.

"You a pirate... or a marine?" and there it was! The question that you had a chance of answering incorrectly no matter what answer you gave!

That reminds me, how does Fish-man Karate stack up against Okama/Newkama Kempo?
>>
>>5415544
It's a bit of a lazy answer but it depends on the skill of the practicioner, both are martial arts explicitly designed for combat.
Though Fishman Karate would have an initial advantage underwater of course, while I suppose Okama/Newkama Kempo would be considerably easy to use above ground, though against two masters it being above or below water shouldn't really matter.
It's just a matter of the user's skill.

"I'm nothing more than a simple traveling merchant!" It was a quick and simple lie, and one that was impossible to see through... you hoped, however, the man behind the door seemed to have other ideas.

"A traveling merchant, huh? Well... what do you sell then?" The man still wasn't convinced and continued to quiz you, and you were getting just a little bit frustrated at having to constantly think on your feet.

"Medicine and doctoring supplies. Or I did sell such things until my vessel was sunk." You again lied through your teeth without skipping a beat, hesitation would of course mean suspicion, and you wanted to erase any and all suspicion from yourself.

"Alright, fine. I believe you, I'm opening the door... but no sudden moves, alright?" You heard some shuffling from behind the door, and the sound of a bolt being moved, until finally the door opened to reveal a somewhat short, tired looking man who looked about thirty something, his hair was brown and he was wearing a pair of spectacles and a long brown leather coat patched up in many places. His spectacles did very little to hide just how tired that he appeared. Immediately and without even hesitating you used observe on the man to figure out just what his game was.

Name: 'Wise Owl' Turrin
Race: Human (Owl)
Rank: Revolutionary Army (Tinkerer/Enemy Communications Monitor)
Devil Fruit: Tori Tori no Mi: Model Owl
Bounty: 50 Million Berries
HP: 2662/2662
Level: 43
Strength: 76
Vitality: 61
Agility: 77
Intelligence: 410
Willpower: 65
Charisma: 10
Luck: 66

Oh so he was with the revolutionaries! That... explained why he was being so evasive, though the fact that he eventually opened the door for you meant that he's probably just going to try to convince you not to say anything about the island to the authorities, and to just convince you to be on your way. You had also uncovered the interesting fact that you could determine whether or not somebody was a devil fruit user with nothing but a glance!

"Right... a merchant." The man frowned as he opened the door, seeing that you were accompanied by both a saber-tooth tiger and a large wolf mink. He no longer sounded at all convinced about your alibi. "One... very last question, if you had the chance, would you shoot a World Noble if they were hurting people in front of you?" You froze at the question that came completely out of left field!

"W-what?" You were totally not prepared for the question, but you didn't have to worry.

"Of course." Jacob answered that one for you, and the man finally seemed to relax a bit.
>>
"Alright, there we have it, you're not undercover Cipher Pol or Marines, it's expressly forbidden for them to exchange such sentiments, even undercover." He smirked as he pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and lit up with a nearby lighter. "Makes finding undercover assholes that much easier, knowing the regulations that they have to follow even out of uniform." The man took a draw on his cigarette. "Besides, even if they do want to piss around and try to say it anyway, I keep recordings, marines got no choice but to imprison or execute their own for even pretending if evidence is turned in... bunch of clowns." The man chuckled before turning to you.

"And you...? Would you shoot a World Noble?" You decided that instead of just playing along with the man's games, you'd come out and tell him what was actually going on, he appeared to be intelligent... no, you knew he was incredibly intelligent, with his intelligence score soaring far higher than it had any right to, it alone was nearly as ten times his total level!

"Not one week ago, I uncovered a secret laboratory underneath Loguetown that was housing dozens of living people that the World Government was using for the sake of sick twisted experiments to create some sort of nonsensical sounding super serum." You grit your teeth. "As far as I'm concerned, the people responsible for allowing such an abhorrent thing to happen deserve worse than just being shot." There was no point in playing coy, you were both pretty much on the same side, and the man smiled.

"Great. So you're the guy responsible for making the ol' encrypted Den Den Mushi channels go haywire." He started to laugh and slapped his knee. "You shoulda heard em screaming at each other! Everyone blaming each other for the failure, trying to pin the failure on somebody so that they could have a scapegoat! But at the end of the day, their batshit scientist ended up dead, and all their prisoners ended up escaping. Let me tell you, they sent somebody to Impel Down over that. Not sure who, but... well that's just how the World Government works, failure is punished with death... hopefully it was that worm Spandam..." Turrin muttered under his breath, but you didn't even know who this Spandam guy was. "Anyway... I take it you were told to go here? Got a message that I was supposed to help out a prospective new recruit, though I gotta say, wasn't expecting it to be you. Figured Dragon would immediately induct you, but... well he's been kinda jumpy as of late. Thinks something big is on the horizon."

That would explain him deciding to send you all the way to Alabasta before letting you actually officially join, you supposed. "So... who are you, then? I'm uh... Copper Threepwood." You knew the man's name but decided it would be better to get his name properly, otherwise you'd look immensely suspicious.
>>
"Oh, right... name is Turrin, inventor, code breaker and general pain in the marine's ass. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." The man held out his hand for you to shake, and you did so. You peeked behind him to see a room that was covered in both wiring and all sorts of den-den mushi, along with a bunch of monitors.

"So... what exactly is it that you do here?" You were curious as to what the man actually did, clearly something that involved intercepting the World Government's communications, but... that couldn't be all that he did, right?

"Oh, me? I consider myself a man of many talents, though I spend most of my time monitoring Marine and World Government communications through my collection of Signal Intercepting Den Den Mushi, rare breed... hard to get." The spectacle wearing man nodded to himself. "Of course, when the chatter is quiet, I spend my time developing new prototypes for equipment, I've got a prototype for a Grapple Gun and an Air Rebreather in the storehouse... but they're older models and I'm working on superior versions for both, you can have them if you want."

"Uh..."

"You already took them and the other supplies, didn't you?" The man sighed. "Well don't worry too hard about it, the storehouse is technically meant for our agents to use to resupply, and... I've already taken a box of supplies for myself." The man pointed to a box filled with the metal MRE boxes, though none of them were opened... did he only arrive here today? "Notice that, did you? Well... there's a whole bunch of these Listening Stations out among the Seas, and a few in the Grand Line too. Helps Dragon keep an finger on the pulse of the world, and also gives our agents a place to rest and recuperate... not to mention know if the Marines are following."

"I see. So... this place and others like it are basically just where the Revolutionary Army sends its agents when they need a place to lay low? Makes sense, I can imagine that you guys end up stirring up quite a bit of heat when you actually act." The Revolutionary Army might've been quite a bit more competent than you previously gave them credit for, you'd really been underestimating just how difficult it would actually be to overwhelm a global superpower... even one as negligent to its own people as this one.

"Like you wouldn't believe." Turrin took a draw from his cigarettes. "Hard to really act when the World Government will inevitably send at least a Vice Admiral your way if they think that the Revolutionary Army are involved in something, and... well, aside from our top members, most of our agents just aren't on that level." You didn't really have the faintest clue of how powerful that a Marine Vice Admiral was supposed to be, but... all signs pointed to incredibly.

"So... can you tell me anything else about the Revolutionary Army? I'm curious as to just what the organization is about."
>>
"Alright, sure... the basics I'm sure that you're fully aware of, we're an organization that has made the World Government our enemy... or rather, the World Nobles that dominate the World Government. You'll find many people in our ranks that have their grievances with them one way or another, be they slaves or those who suffered under the yoke of a tyrant, there's no shortage of people who dislike them with a passion." Of course, you could only act tyrannical for so long until at least some people grow angry enough to actually try to do something about it.

"I see..." that much you already knew, and it was pretty easy to figure out that a revolutionary group that hated the people in command of the government would consist of people with vendettas against such a government.

"We've even got a few marines working undercover for us. One of the reasons for the listening stations is to keep in contact with our men on the inside... course, just who those marines are is highly classified information, only the boss and the chief of staff are aware." The spectacle wearing man turned around to face the monitors "In a war like this, where we're so massively outnumbered by overwhelming force, our only advantage is through striking the World Government when it matters the most."

"So what's the end game? Is there anything really stopping the Revolutionary Army from storming Mariejois and killing every World Noble in sight?" Jacob asked the question this time, and you were somewhat alarmed by just how bloodthirsty that he was when it came to the World Nobles... he must really know how to hold a grudge.

"What, other than the fact that any invading force would almost certainly find themselves quickly being pursued and attacked by an Admiral?" Turrin shook his head. "They upped their security a great deal since the time of Fisher Tiger, and it's not so simple to strike at the World Nobles anymore... no matter how much everyone in the Revolutionary Army would like to. If anything, it would have to be an assault led by Dragon himself, and... well, I don't presume to know how the boss thinks, but... if he's not authorized an attack by now it probably means that there's something at Mariejois that he's cautious of." Turrin seemed awfully well informed of everything going on, must've had something to do with being one of the communications interceptors for the Revolutionary Army, information was pretty much his domain.

"Right." It was frustrating, but... it looked like it might end up being harder to sabotage the World Government than first thought. Though the fact that they were clearly growing as a threat to their enemies meant that they were technically helping to spread the truth about the World Government, which was at least a start. "So... the sloop?"
>>
"It's made of sturdy stuff, about large enough to comfortably house ten crew members in addition to a captain, designed for trips up and down reverse mountain after all, can't exactly have ships exploding on the way back to the Grand Line. I helped design it myself... same for all the boats we use actually." The man clearly felt proud about the boat. "Don't worry about me, I can make my way off the island myself." Judging from his devil fruit... he probably meant by flying. "Anything else you wanted to know?"

"Nope, I'm good... I think."

>>
With that out of the way with, and some more information about the Revolutionary Army on your side... as well as a quick way to immediately prove somebody is an undercover marine, well you said 'prove' because observe was something that allowed you to completely destroy any attempts of subterfuge by people acting undercover, as it seemed to immediately be able to reveal people's ranks in their organizations. Which should hopefully include even undercover Marines or Government agents! The observation skill may have shown itself to have some limits, but it was still pretty fantastically overpowered in being able to discern information about people that otherwise might've taken far too long to figure out. Like for example figuring out Turrin here was a member of the Revolutionary Army.

"I guess I'll probably see you around, Turrin." You nodded to the man, who returned to his duties of watching the monitors and listening in for signals being picked up by his Den Den Mushi collection... you actually sort of wanted to ask for your own signal interceptor too, but that was probably something that could wait until you were officially instated as a member of the army. Besides, it's not really like you'd know what to do with it anyway. It was probably something that would take weeks if not months of training to figure out how to use properly, even with your enhanced capacity to learn new skills that you seem to have, and you didn't really think you'd have much of a need to intercept signals... at least not right now. It was highly doubtful that any Marine long-range chatter would have anything that was of much interest to you personally, at least while you were still a relative unknown to their organization, hell you didn't even have a bounty yet so you were still pretty much irrelevant to them.

"Yeah, see ya." The man didn't turn to look at you as he waved you off, and you left the listening station to properly check out the sloop itself, there was another couple boxes of supplies on it, containing more food and fresh water, not to mention a small water desalination machine that should be able to provide fresh water for you and your crew... drinking sea-water wasn't exactly something you wanted to do... wait a second, do fish men or mermaids even need to drink fresh water? Considering that both of them could happily live and breath underwater, then... wouldn't their bodies have some sort of means to automatically draw hydration even from salt water? Probably best not to think about that too hard.

"Alright everyone, you ready to set off?" You asked your crew, who had all gathered on the sloop with you, you knew... at least a little bit about how to sail a ship, but the one with the most knowledge was obviously Cutter, what with him being an ex-pirate and all. Though... really, how hard could it be?

"Sure, we're off to Loguetown first, right?" Urchii asked, and you nodded quickly.
>>
"That's right, Loguetown. But... all of you are gonna need to stay on the ships, preferably below deck... well, I guess that Cutter and you can stay underwater?" You realized that what with them being able to breath under the waves, there was no real reason for them to potentially allow themselves to be found by patrolling marines and Jacob...? He could probably hide below decks anyway, there wasn't exactly going to be much of a cause for the marines to search your boat, and they probably had bigger things to be getting on with right about now other than harassing random visitors to Loguetown.

"I don't particularly mind, but... don't be too long, OK?" Urchii clearly didn't enjoy the idea of having to be in Loguetown for any longer than she had to be, though she was OK with staying underwater at least.

"Right." Cutter nodded. "The sooner that we get on our way to properly stopping Arlong, the better it will be. Those poor islanders have suffered far too long already, and there's no reason to allow it to continue on for any longer." Cutter was clearly haunted by the guilt of having helped Arlong set up in the first place, even if he was by no means strong enough that he would've been able to stop him.

Jacob for his part just nodded silently, and Haruki roared in approval, looks like feelings were somewhat mixed about making the stop to Loguetown, but... you did sort of need the extra bit of time to make sure that you were all strong enough to compete with Arlong and his pirates by the time you got to Arlong Park.

Oh, and lets see how your crew does in their own training, each get 2 dice for their training before hitting Loguetown.

OK I guess if I take into account you doing Shooting and Swordfighting as majors, next up is Swimming and Sparring

So Another 2d100, this time only Best of 2.

at least us having him spark up before jumping into the water with arlong like a toaster in a bathtub doesn't rely on big stat gains

So, with everything in order, and no real reason to explore the island for whatever else it might be hiding, you finally set off on the sloop that had been provided for you, it was a fairly simple vessel to pilot, and one that Cutter, Jacob and you were able to sail with very little difficulty together, of course, Urchii wasn't really all that much help due to her relative immobility, but she was fairly good at determining the current state of the sea and weather, acting as something like a navigator to make up for her lack of usefulness in the physical part of moving the ship.

You had a few days of sailing ahead of you before you reached Loguetown, so you had decided to spend the days both training up your sword-fighting as well as your ability to shoot with your pistol, actually getting a better mastery over the weapons you had took priority over just about anything else, though your allies had their own ideas about how to best spend the time they had before arriving at Loguetown too.

Your shooting training went fairly well, there were fewer targets to fire at when you were at sea, so you ended up setting up a sort of shooting range with the spent boxes that used to contain meals, often engaging in competitions with Jacob, though... unfortunately, mid-way through the competition, something terrible ended up happening...

oOoOoOoOo

"Look, I keep telling you that you're not going to have any chance of beating me when I'm using my rifle and you're using those revolvers, captain. But... if you really want to see who's a better shot, then I don't mind." Jacob had gone into the competition confident, even after you had rapidly managed to knock down all five of the targets in the span of just under six seconds with your revolver, the bullets punching straight through the thin metal of the boxes and thankfully not ricocheting all over the place.

"This is how it's done." The wolf man had smirked as he readied his rifle, and in the span of only 2 seconds had already managed to nail four of the boxes... until finally, when it came to shooting the fifth, a large explosion could be heard coming from the rifle and no bullet was fired! You had quickly looked over at Jacob to see that he had a few cuts and burns on him thanks to one of the bullets he had loaded into his rifle having quite literally exploded without properly discharging from the rifle, resulting in all the force being randomly directed through the gun. He hadn't looked too hurt by the explosion, but he had appeared distraught at the state that his weapon had ended up in. "Damn it! It's gonna take me ages to fix this! I can't believe I overloaded one of the bullets!" He had sounded incredibly upset at the current state of his rifle. Though... at the very least, he wasn't hurt too bad.
>>
"Damn it! Jacob... are you alright?" You had hurried to his side to make sure that he wasn't actually hurt anywhere, but an observation at the time showed that he had really only lost about fifty or so HP... however his right hand had been damaged quite badly by a few pieces of shrapnel hitting it, and... you had to prevent yourself from commenting on the irony of the injury.

"I'm fine. Just... can't believe that I messed up with the powder ratio, usually I get the ratio perfect!" You had to wonder how he had managed to pick up the rifle in the first place considering his last state as a captive of the marines... though you supposed that the escape must not've been instant, and he and Cutter must've just been able to pick up their belongings before making their escape with Hephay's help... or maybe they had just loaded him straight into the containment tube with it? It would've been awfully negligent if they had.,,

oOoOoOoOo

At least nothing had gone wrong when you were practicing swordplay with Cutter, who despite his massive weapon, actually made a pretty good training partner to practice swordplay with, he was a fairly skilled swordsman after all, and Glory Reforged was a blade that was more than high quality enough to withstand the blows of his massive weapon, but... you had decided that you wanted to learn a new sword-fighting style sometimes during the fight, and not one that was derivative of any of the sword-fighting styles you had already learned about, so... midway through the training session, you had decided to speak.

[Learned Insult Swordfighting: A special form of combat that requires Charisma to properly function, through insulting an enemy during combat, your Charisma score can be added to attacks, so long as they don't have a comeback to your insult! However, at sea, any insult must rhyme for reasons that aren't entirely clear. Also, any opponent must at least be intelligent enough to understand they are being insulted.]

"Every enemy I've met, I've annihilated!" You had decided to test the new sword-fighting technique against the unwitting Cutter, and he clearly had no idea how to respond to your words.

"Huh? What?" Cutter was immediately put on the back foot as he hesitated, unsure how to respond to your insults.

"It's a new form of fighting I've come up with, by insulting my enemy, they'll be too distracted in thinking up a decent come-back to respond to my physical attacks!" It sounded absolutely ridiculous, but at the same time, it was weirdly... working?

"That sounds like the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." Cutter responded to your decision to reveal insult swordfighting to him, and you smirked widely.
>>
"Well, that's just because my skill is absurd." Your effortless response to his unintentional insult allowed you to gain the advantage once again, and your ally was overwhelmed by your attack as he was distracted by the sting of your insults!

"Alright... maybe it's not quite as ridiculous as I first thought." Cutter quickly changed his tune on the new fighting style after it had been used to so effortlessly cut through his defenses. "I'm impressed that you managed to come up with something so effective so quickly... even if it does sound strange." Cutter scratched the back of his head as he yielded to you.

The... the less that was said about your attempt to go swimming with Urchii and Cutter, the better. It was a good thing that you had the wet suit and that Urchii had been around to drag you back on board after you managed to get yourself tangled up in some underwater debris.

[No gains]

oOoOoOoOo

Finally, in the few hours before arriving at Loguetown, you had decided to have something of a spar between everyone, just to see how much they had managed to grow by themselves... though Jacob was exempted from the spar as a result of his hand injury. Oddly enough, even Urchii had wanted to join in the spar though, apparently not wanting to be considered a weak link or anything just because she was a girl, and a mermaid at that!

In the end the spar was decided on one where you had to remain standing to win... though considering that rule was considered a little unfair on Urchii, an additional rule was put in place that stated that you needed to end up with your back on the floor before you were considered out of the match, the rules were a little hard to explain to Haruki, but you felt like you eventually managed to get the message across to the tiger.

The matches went about as obviously as one might expect it to, with one involving Urchii ending up being pushed over after she had tried to use her fish tail to slam people to the floor after Haruki ended up tackling into her, before eventually Cutter had managed to flip the tiger upside down and render her out of the match. Then finally, it came down to just you against Cutter, and you quickly lost out to his superior size and strength, in a competition where victory was decided by knocking your opponent over, obviously the biggest and strongest guy was going to have an absolute advantage over everyone else... but that was just one of the matches, and the final record was actually surprising, of the 30 spars you ended up having, Urchii won 4, Haruki won 6, you won 9 and Cutter ended up winning 11.
>>
All in all, it ended up being a pretty successful two days, and... everyone was a good deal stronger than they had been at the start of the voyage already! In fact, at your current rate... if you managed to continue your growth at this level, you'd definitely be able to defeat Arlong! Maybe! Probably!

We should check the news to see what's happened here since we were gone

The people in the island were cut off from contact, so they probably had no idea of current events

Ok guys hear me out.
We track down Tashigi and try to recruit her, better than letting her continue being a marine.
