Let me tell you a story. But not the whole story.
Later you can ask me questions, but I can only answer with 'yes' or 'no'. I live around GMT, expect answers at random.

> late 19th century England
> rainy night in a small village
> boy is walking down the road, carrying a hand
> walks up to a house, knocks on door
> elderly man opens, looks down at the hand being presented and speaks:
> 'justice is served'
> boy visits 3 other houses that night, getting the same response from 3 other elderly men

4 Was the promised event something the old men wanted to occur?
5 Was the promised event something the old men didn't want to occur?

6 Was the promised event important to the village?
7 Was the promised event important to the local area?
8 Was the promised event important to the country?

So, the employer was obligated to cut off the old men's hands. Was the obligation:

1. Legal
2. Professional
3. To a superior of the employer
4. To a family member of the employer
5. To a friend/loved one of the employer
6. Out of a financial debt
7. Out of a non-financial debt
8. Due to tradition
9. Due to a code of honor
10. To the old men themselves
11. Ideological
12. Moral

13. Did the old men consider the cutting off of their hands an injustice?

Ok QM, something wrong :
>>5005383
You said yes to 5 : Was the obligation to a friend or loved one of the employer

However : >>5005512
You said neither friend nor loved one
I'm confused.

Once this point is cleared out I will make a recap again
>>
>>5005676
He said yes to friend there. Look again.

He said yes to old men as friend (5),
I'm speaking of 3 and 4 (no and no) which contradict previous post.

New Spreadsheet :

The boy
>between 10-15yo
>Paid by the employer to cut off the thief's hand after his death and put on the employer's seal on it

The thief
>A hot adult white man, dead from old age
>Irrelevant for the story except from providing the hand

The three men
>sane
>aren't anyone important
>All miss an hand, cutted by employer

The hand
>The distinctive sign is a jewel, seal ring of the employer
>Actually the thief's hand, the ring is to deceipt the old men

The employer:
> A man from the other village
> Pay the boy to cut the hand and show it to the 4 men
> Friend of the 4 men when they where middle aged
> Rich, retired medical doctor
> Was obligated to cut the hands of the old men; obligated to friend

Justice have been served:
>Related to the employer finally getting his hand cut (deception; justice have indeed not been served)

The old men hand cutting :
>Happened when they where middle-aged (25-50)
> Old men asked for it
> Alternative to something worse
> Employer promised his own hand will be cut off too, necessary condition to get the old men consent to get hands cut off
> Employer promised his own hand will be cut after "promised event"

The "promised event":
>Not cutting the hand of the old men
>The occurence was known to the old men, considered inevitable by the old men at the time of the promise
>The old men didn't wanted it to occur
>Not important to village, local area nor country
>Happened when the old men were middle-aged
>Something not unique that occurs with some regularity
>Something that happens to people
>Something that most people would not want to happen to them
>Not the arrival of old age

2 Is the promised event something that happened to the old men?
3 Is the promised event something that happened to the old men's relative?
4 Is the promised event something that happened to the old men friends?
5 Is the promised event linked with age?
6 Is the promised event linked with Health?

The four old men also see the employer negatively, as in >>5000904
>>
Sorry for the break.. I can't continue, but you came close to the end.

All 5 elderly men were stranded 9n an island with no food. One being a doctor suggested they all chop off their left hands each day so they could eat something. Doctor would obviously do it last. Luckily for the doctor they were rescued after the 4th day.
