Welcome back to Tai Lung's path to self discovery, not only for himself but for those around him as well. In our last thread, the group continues to live among the people of the Sacred Library and Tai Lung works to improve himself by advancing through the ranks of the order as well as trying to juggle being a teacher on two fronts. One for the alchemist Ming, and the other for the people of the city he resides in.

"Master, did the snow leopards have a prefered place to roam? Giving the name I take it my kind would prefer the north or the mountains." You ask. You didn't know why were you so interested in your race. You never had before, before or after your journey, and yet now that you think you are close to some answers or perhaps knowing that the possibility of answers is nearby, you can't help but feel a yearning to learn more about them and maybe about yourself. These weren't your family nor could you connect with them. As far as you knew or felt, trying to identify with them was akin to trying to identify with rhinos or eagles. Oogways seems to study you for a moment.

"I do not know." Oogway says and your heart sinks. "The few groups I met were wanderers. Nomads. Perhaps in retrospect, in my heart, I knew the reason. They did not seem like a group to have voluntarily chosen this life. Even in the eyes of their youngest, the children who could not possibly know of the reason behind their travels, I could see the sadness of being one without a home. Perhaps, knowing that those who fought in the war were only pushing their people towards the brink of extinction, I could not force myself to admit what they truly were. Refugees. Of what land I could not say. So war torn was China that I could not say if they had lost their homes in the chaos or they were traveling before hand. Perhaps they were from the country of the north and yet, no scout or army would return stating they saw remnants of a snow leopard village. From my brief encounters with them, they were reserved. Quiet. They kept to themselves and only operated as required to complete their task. Such is the effect of war and yet...I again could not help but notice that they were all like that. What could have caused a whole group of people to become like that?"

"I mean...I'm also like that. Or was. Maybe we're all just like that." You suggest. Oogway shakes his head.

"No. You were focused and when you were rejected became withdrawn. Perhaps on the surface it might seem the same but your reasons were your own not of your lineage. Not to mention, you were quite talkative when you were younger the moment talks of martial arts rolled around." Oogway pours himself some tea. "The reservation I felt from them felt like distrust. Perhaps among their own people they were different but where your solitude comes from pain and anger. Their seemed to stem from mistrust and suspicion."

"But surely there must be a place they could be easily found? A place they enjoyed to return to or were more often found?" You ask. "A whole race of people couldn't have gone unnoticed in all of China."
>>
Oogway gives you a sad look. "Perhaps that puts in to perspective how little their numbers were." He says. "I'm afraid I have little information on the subject. If I could give you hints, rumors, or even myths I would have. Shifu and I scoured as much as we could to try and find your family or perhaps even ones who could raise you so that you could be among your own but alas to no avail. Instead we took you in and gave you the best that we could do on our own."

"But why?" You ask. "Why would they leave me at the Jade palace? There of all places, why?"

Oogway shakes his head once more. "I do not know. All I can offer you is that there was no group of snow leopards in the area of the time. Even if they were all capable trackers and warriors. The size of groups they traveled in would leave behind tracks for someone like your father and I to catch. Would their full size arrive in the Jade Palace arrive to trade, such news would have been recorded in history." The old turtle seems to think for a moment. "I'm afraid I have naught to offer you, my friend. However..."

"Yes?" You ask, almost desperately.

"There are old ruins at the north most base of the Taihang Mountain range. It is in Shanxi. That is where I first discovered your people. They were simply traveling through and we had finished a campaign. Perhaps...the universe may smile upon you once more. Perhaps you may find the small spark that will guide you through your troubles there." Oogway says.

You say nothing for a while. That was it. Not a clue or even a rumor. Simply a memory to go off of. A wild chase in hopes of the impossible. Why did you care so much? You had Xin Lan and the others. As much as they joked, your people were...a combinations of rabbits, turtles, cats and red pandas. They were the family that forged you into who you were. These snow leopards were forgieners to you and yet they couldn't leave your mind.
>>
Your thoughts are interrupted when you sense someone else arrive. A large eagle stands at the edge of the small island Oogway's some resides. "You have a guest." You say sullenly. "And perhaps I should go for now." You stop only for a moment to say. "Oh...the leader of the library...He's a man who managed to forge a sort of bargin with the Great Dragons themselves. I was thinking perhaps you would like to speak with him. Maybe he can help you with you and the master's ideas of building a home here. I'll try and talk to him about it later and send him over. If that's ok with you?"

"I would be delighted to speak with the man who manages and entire hidden city. What conversations we can have. He is most welcome to join me here." He says. You nod.

"Maybe some time out of his meditation chamber might do him some good." You say only slightly amused. "I'll be back when I can." And with that, you're gone.

---

You come back to the mortal world feeling uneasy and tired. More importantly, you're back with even more questions than you started with. Part of you simply wants to stop doing what you're doing right now and go to scour the library for any information on your people to see if you can find them. Your writing on Chi could wait. You're grounded a bit more when you feel something move on your thigh and look down to see Xin Lan sleeping with their head on your thigh. Their long ears limp and covering their eyes. A small parcel lays beside them as well.

>What do you do?
>Open up the small box. See what's inside it.
>Wake up Xin. Maybe talking to someone might settle you a bit.
>Pick up Xin and take them to your room. They can sleep there and you can return to your studies.
>Just leave Xin there. Go find something to do.

And for the whole snow leopard deal, while our family is the one that raised us and our new friends tge one we are close to, these people are still ones that we are bound by blood, even if just by circustance. Less important, but still a factor. Also there's a whole mystery surrounding our own past in a way, that we deserve answers for. Also it might be something thatvis coming back to haunt us, since the raider leader was quite loyal to whatever orders she had, and that's a lot of loyalty for a hired gun

sneaking a peek. Writing.
>>
You quietly lean over the napping bunny and pick up the small package. It was heavier than you expected and you take your time to open it without making too much noise. Inside of it was a small card with fine writing.

Big guy,

If you're reading this then it means you cheated and peeked. Nice way of ruining a surprise. Anyways, we had your birthday and didn't even give you a present so we all pitched in to have this medallion made for you. We got to talking one day while you were off doing who knows what and realized you didn't really have a family beyond your dad. So, today we're changing that. We've been through a ton of things and you've mentioned a few times that we're basically family. So why not make it official? We made our own symbol and first family heirloom. Welcome to the family. We might not be blood related or grew up together but we've been through too damn much to ever let each other go.

Ps. I'm telling Ming by the way.
Pps. This means we're married now. I demand a date.

You set the card aside and look in the box once more. Inside it was a medallion as mentioned in the card. Engraved on it was the sillouttes of 4 heads. A snow leopard flanked by two rabbit heads, one with stripes of obsidion inlaid in it, and a cat's head between them, just bellow the snow leopard's chin. Each face bore eyes made of gems that matched the eye colors each one of you.

You feel some movement nearby. "So? How do you like it?" Xin Lan asks as they turn over to rest their elbows on your thigh and their head in their hands. They idly swing their legs as they watch you eagerly.

>What do you say or do?

You slip the medallion around your neck and pet Xin Lan. "First off, we're engaged at best. Second, I love it." You say with a grin. "I'll have to thank Ming and Renshu later too but for now, thank you. When I started this journey, it looked like I destroyed all the family I had and was destined to wander the world alone. Now? I have one bigger and more loving than I ever imagined." You say as you look at the medallion once more and trace the images with your finger. Xin Lan grins.

"Just to let you know. You could have said no and denied it all. Now that you've agreed to it, I'm expecting wedding bells soon." They tease. "Glad you like it though. I was kind of hoping of presenting it next time we had dinner, which reminds me. Stripes told me to find you for lunch. He says you're doing the thing where you're pushing yourself too much again. But like he guess, you were busy again. So now we gotta head over for dinner. Nice going."

"Had I known you were going to do something like this, I'd have made some time." You say.

"Well, then it wouldn't be a surprise." Xin Lan says as they climb on your shoulders. "Besides, we all kind of figured you'd get caught up in something like always."

"Still, I think it needs to be said that I love you all, deeply and truly." You say as you stand up.

"Ooh...now you're getting into it." Xin Lan laughs. "Maybe you should say it again to Stripes, see how red he gets." The swing around to wrap their arms around your neck. "C'mere big guy. We all love you too you know."

"I'll remember to say it when you're around." You chuckle as you put the box away. "Is everyone at Renshu's place?"

"Doubt it, Ming might have eaten there for lunch but I bet she's back studying. Says she's making a breakthrough on some alchemy thing or another." Xin Lan says. "Judging by the time though. We have some classes to teach. Honestly, one of these days you're gonna end up missing it all."

"I would never. I can be punctual when I have to." You say.

"I mean you have so far. Of course...if you wanna take some time off to conssumate the marrige..." They add with a wink.

"Very funny." You say as your face gets red.

"So what exactly where you doing now?" They ask. "Some kind of witch craft? Trading info for foribben techniques?"

"I was talking to Oogway." You say. "Wanted to ask him a few things."

"Like what?"

>What do you say?
>Tell Xin about you studies. They don't particularly care for it but they always seem to lend an ear whenever it seemed like the subject was important to you.
>Tell Xin about snow leopards. Talk about not knowing anything about them.
>Ask Xin about what they've been up to. You kind of want to keep your own thoughts quite for right now. (What do you ask)
>Write in.
>>
>>4982087
>Tell Xin about our studies, remind them they wished to be bored with the details.
>"The idea of family has been on my mind too recently, namely why I would be abandoned in the middle of china and the rarity of my kind. Oogway only remembers them faintly from the war of three kingdoms."

A thought occurs to me, in that TL's family with these lot should probably continue down through adoption rather than bloodlines. I find the idea somewhat a unique twist on the traditional one master to chosen disciple to their own sorta thing, with each successive generation being an adopted child inducted into a lineage of wandering Hero's.

The rest of the thought sort of goes onto how would a wandering hero lineage survive in the modern era, but ultimately it is irrelevant and I feel the need to share it. Your only sign of belonging to the family is bearing it's heirloom and techniques.

>Tell Xin about you studies. They don't particularly care for it but they always seem to lend an ear whenever it seemed like the subject was important to you.

So no bunny snow leopard hybrids? I actually like you idea. It seems to fit along with the group's theme of helping people become better or taking in others that seem lost or unwanted. I think that would be a nice way for them to grow.
>>
"I'm trying to write another paper on Chi." You say. "I thought Oogway might help me translate a few papers I found. They were written by a panda and pandas were known to be some of the greatest Chi users in China but it was written in a very old version of Chinese. I know a bit of it from my studies in the Jade palace but it's only enough to understand the basics. I was hoping Oogway would find something I missed. Turns out it was written by an old friend of his."

"I should've figured you and Ming were related." Xin Lan says with a grin as they scritch your ears. "The two of you sound almost exactly the same."

"You know, a bit of education wouldn't kill you." You reply.

"I am educated. I'm a best selling author. Following in the footsteps of Luo." Xin Lan replies. "As a matter of fact, I'm working on a sequel and my current book is getting ready to be sold all around China. So I'll have you rethink that opinion, thank you very much."

You stop. "Wait, what?"

"Shows how much you know." Xin Lan says with a hint of smugness. "I've been sold out for a while. The copiers can't keep up with demand. Luckily for yours truly, I know how to keep out of the public's eye. Well...mostly. I get hounded at the bar asking if I have any spare copies to sell. I do but that's my first edition copy and that's being reserved for someone."

"Who?" You ask.

"Good question." Xin Lan says as they think. "I was thinking the old monkey. Considering he runs the place, it'd only be fair he has the first edition copy of my work. But then again, I could give it to Luo. He's my favorite author. I feel like it'd be right. Trading one work for another. Like a style, you know?"

>Who do you suggest?
>Suggest Xin give their first copy to the Exarch. It'd be fitting that the library has the original copy.
>Suggest Xin give their copy to Luo. Seems more symbolic that way.
>Suggest Ming. She did proof read the chapters as they were written.
>Ask about the second book. Xin mentioned he was writing a second one concurrently with his first.
>Write in.
>>
>>4983239
>The exarch does have a craving for old books. But I have a feeling that this depends on what exactly you value out of it. In here, the book will be kept perfectly and your story will likely be found and remembered for all time. But if you like the symbolism and wish to repay Luo for all the inspiration he's given you, he would be the better recipient.
>Then again, Ming did help you out a lot.

Give them room to think and ponder. It's best for them that way.

>Ask about the second book as we head to the warren.

>>4982888
It's a nice thought
>>
>>4983239
>Suggest Xin give their first copy to the Exarch. It'd be fitting that the library has the original copy.
>Luo has been a man that cares way more of abour the meaning and the story itself than the objects, I think if you were to tell him the story, and the process on how you wrote it, he would appreciate it way more.
>Talking about being related to Ming, I ended up learned a few things about my people, even a possible lead about them.
>>4982092
And segway into this anon's write-in
>>
>>4983275
How exactly do you see that shifting into the write in?

Like a pondering on the options? But I do think you are right, that the old ram would prefer the methologoly rather than the tale. But is the tale not the thing you can measure?
>>
>>4985375
Ok, so both of them have sonethinf to do with family and the leopards, so what we can do is start up with the Xin's comment to change topic, put the write-in in the middle, and the possible leadving the end, something like this
>Even before this talking about being related to Ming, and this medallion, the topic of famimy has been in my mind too, I talked a bit with Oogway about the snow leopards, and why and how would such a rare people would abandon a baby in the middle of China. He could only faintly remember seeing them from the war of three kingdoms, although he did give me a potential lead should I ever search for them.
And Luo is more of a storyteller right? So Xin should tell the story of the book over a campfire, with a bit of acting and voices so it's more dramatized, and them only after telling the story she should explain their thought process, kind like when you pkay Portal, and then replay with developer's commentary.
>>
>>4985388

More miming really.

INB4 they put tai lung in a dress as Xin charges around the fire to rescue the blushing damsel from the grasp of Chin the conqueror, because Xin went into historical fantasy.
>>
>>4985454
Yeah they did go into that but I simply ran with the anon's joke idea of Xin writting romance novels involving a snow leopard and a certain Lynx then branching out to a striped rabbit. The kind of novels with the bare chested man with flowing long hair. Basically they're playing to the lonely and bored house wife market...quite like their brother actually. Of course their second book is nothing like that. That one is an actual serious book that's very personal to Xin.
>>
>>4985454
Atleast it's not Chen the Ox warrior, in which case the protaganist would have no chance at victory.
>>
>>4985473
I mean, it's not like that's a bad idea if your market can actually read and write.
>>
"Well you got three choices actually." You say. "You have the Exarch, Luo, and Ming. I guess it depends on how you value your work. If you give it to the exarch, then it's preserved for all time. Giving it to Luo would be nice symbolically and a nice way to repay him for giving you the inspiration. Ming did help you by reading all your pages and helping your proofread. I think it'd be a nice way to show you appreciate her help by giving her the one copy no one else has. Of course, I think Luo would appreciate the story more than the object, so telling him the tale and simply going over your thought process might be more than enough."

"I guess your right." Xin Lan admits. "I guess I could just leave it here. I don't think Ming cares what edition it is. Actually I could just get her a copy of it and promise her the free copy of anything else I write. Pretty sure she's memorised the story by heart."

"Speaking of Ming and family." You start. "I've been thinking about it a lot. I thought it would bother me. Thought it was behind me or it didn't concern me but...I can't help but think about who my people are. Why did they leave me behind? No one seems to have seen them or know much about them. They're a rarity and even Oogway only had a chance meeting with them during the Three Kingdoms war."

"We're your people." Xin Lan says. "You're a bunny now. We adopted you."

"Actually I'm pretty sure I adopted the two of you." You say.

"Well I'm a snow leopard then. They point is that they're nothing to you. Even if they only intended to leave you for a while. They never came back. If they abandoned you then even more to my point. We'll stick by you. We'll fight along side you. That's what matters. Just cuz someone looks like you doesn't mean they're your people. We're family and they're not." Xin Lan says. "If you need someone to talk to, Stripes went through the same thing...only with a lot more murder. He might be able to help." They go quiet. "Of course you already know the answer. Just say when and we'll go hunting for any spotted kitties with ya. Not like we had any plans of ditching you if you wanted to go anywhere other than the pools."

"Oogway did give me the last spot he saw them but...that was centuries ago I think." You say. Xin Lan pats your head.

"We've done more desperate things. We're looking for the pools right?" They say. "Sounds like right up our alley. Just say the word and we'll ditch this stuffy old place."

>What do you say?

"No. If we ever go looking, it'll be after the Pools. We already have one wild adventure at a time." You say. "Who knows, maybe we'll end up finding a good place to settle down and hide away, discovering why I was abandonded, and why a snow leopard was leading a group of raiders all at once."

"I still think you're overthinking this. She was just a crazy person. Mongolian, sure, but you heard Hien. China did wrong their people. I just think she was some kind of would be revolutionary with an equally rabid following. If you're anything to show, it's that inspiration is a powerful thing. But we stopped them and saved the country." They say. "And like Ming keeps saying, wondering about all the possiblities is just gonna wear us down. "

"I suppose-"

"That I'm right but you can't help but wonder?" Xin Lan teases. "I know. I know. Classic Tai Lung. Luckily for us, your stubborness tends to keep us alive so we'll bregrude your wonderings."

You smirk. "I really need to learn new tricks huh?"

"No. You're perfect just the way you are." Xin Lan says.

"Well...I'll continue to wonder about it and my past. The thing is that I'll never think that snow leopards were my people or my family over you guys." You say as you pluck Xin Lan off your shoulders. They, as expected, wiggle and flail wildly before settling down as you pull them into a big hug.

"I love you too big guy." Xin Lan says as their twist around to hug you back. "The great Tai Lung. Tamed by an small innocent bunny."

"Funny, I always thought it was Ming and Renshu keeping me sane. You seem insistent on driving me up the wall." You chuckle.

Xin Lan gives you a wicked grin. "Oh I'm trying to give you a rise big guy...but of the more physical kind so I can show you how flexible I can really be." They say with a wink.

You cough and look away. "Alright. No more hugs for you." You say as you let go. Xin Lan laughs and swings on your arm to sit on your shoulder. They daintily cross their legs and lean against your head. "What's your second book about?" You ask as you try to change the subject.

"It's about my deep attraction to tall strong felines." Xin Lan says. "Namely Ming."

"Please don't tell me you talk to her the way you do to me." You beg.
>>
"Of course not. She's a lady and can actually take the joke." Xin Lan says. "Besides, its as Renshu said. You're really cute when you're flustered."

"I think I'm anything but cute." You say. "But really, what's the book about?"

"Something personal." Xin Lan says. "Honestly, it's probably volume 1 if anything. I still have quite a bit to write about."

"Well maybe you should finish it instead of releasing it in parts?"

"Nah, if I do that I don't think it'll ever get finished." Xin Lan says. "I think I just want it in parts so I have something to show progress."

"Will you be leaving it here?" You ask.

"No...maybe. I don't know." Xin Lan says. "Honestly, I think it might be too personal to leave here. It's honestly just an exercise of introspection for me."

"So I'm guessing it's all those fantasies about me huh?" You joke. Xin Lan laughs as they play with your ear.

"I mean, if you want to turn those fantasies...to..." They ask and their voice trails away as the two of you arrive at Renshu's resteruant. A crowd is gathered around the entrance, too halphazard for it to be a line to get in. With your height the two of you can easily see over it and see a few guards arresting several people, including a few that you recognize as your veteran students, along with Renshu, lip lower lip split open and bleeding freely and staining the left side of his face.

>What do you do?

Oh, it's time for dramatic wind flapping and painfully controlled fury.

Renshu is hurt from a busted lip, he got that because he didnt defend himself because no other explanation makes sense. Our students know better than to pick fights with him, so I am led to believe that the other group of arrested individuals sparked it off. But why is the question.
>>
>>4986730
We can also use our mental connection to ask renshu WHAT THE FUCK?! while our body is heading towards the commotion.

We should be able to exclude enough of an aura of menace to make people shift until we reach the guards. I don't think we should do anything hostile but. . I'm not saying we shouldn't look like we aren't ready too.
Maintaining our calm but allowing ourselves to feel furious makes for a nasty combo when it comes to appearing immovable

"Hey!" Xin Lan shouts as they leap off your shoulder and soar over the heads of the whole crowd. The force of the jump feels like you took a club to the shoulder but at the moment you didn't really care. You push towards the crowd, uncaring if you bumped into them and soon enough they get the message as the rest part to give you room.

"Ma'am we need you to step away. We're trying to do our jobs." One of the guards says as they try to step between you two and the scene.

"That's my brother!" Xin Lan shouts as they point to Renshu. "Or can't you see the resemblance!?"

"Xin, down." You say, your voice cold and quiet as you approach. The small rabbit glares at everyone before stepping back and climbing up to your shoulder. Several of the onlookers take a step back out of reflex. Your students look up upon hearing you.

"Boss!" One of them, a duck by the name of Champo, shouts. "Err...teacher." He corrects himself when both you and the guards look at him.

"What happened?" You ask, your voice calm, cold, and more importantly hiding the sea of rage boiling underneathe. The guard seems to take a second to resettle himself back into an authoritarian mindset before awnsering.

"An active investigation." He says. "Do you know these boys?" He asks, now looking between you and your students.

You take a brief moment to talk to Renshu.

What happened? You ask knowing at least he will give you a real answer.

If you were an ocean of rage, Renshu's rage seemed to replace all the water with magma. Despite his stotic demenor, his fingers twitched slightly as they attempt to not transform into fists. His ears twitched, no doubt in part due to the spirits speaking to him. I was attacked. In my home. In front of my guests. Your boys stepped in to intervene. The guards came too quickly. Someone tipped them off earlier. Renshu's rage was mixed with shamem embarassment and worry. Not from being beaten but rather having the sanctity of what little he had tested. From his guests being interrupted and frightened and from what he wanted to do about it.

Before you can do anything, you turn to awnser the guard.

>What do you say?
>Say that some of those boys are your students and you have a right to know what happened.
>Say that your significant other was the victim here and you want to see if they're ok.
>Deny that you know your students. Try and seem like you're not related to this and maybe you can get more information.
>Say nothing and leave. You want to do your own investigation.
>Write in.

>Yes, I am their teacher and this is my beloved's home. Now while I understand your job officer, you will tell me what has occurred here both because I deserve to know and because if you won't tell me, then they will.
>Ask Renshu for if he noticed anyone else fleeing, if so, tell Xin to grab them and bring them to the station UNHARMED. They can't outrun danger bunny.
>Assure Renshu it's all going to be alright.

We're not going to threaten anyone, but if the guards won't tell us, then our students or Renshu will out loud. And nobody can prevent us from doing so, because the guards can't forcibly stop the individuals and anyone other than the guards is going to be arrested.
>>
>>4987231
>These are my students and this is the restaurant of a friend and family member.
>Don't worry, I won't interrupt your job, I have worked as a guard once, I know has these things go, but I beg to let me try to calm them down.
>Renshu, everything is going to be alright, just calm down and follow what the guards say.
>The same goes for you my students, remember to follow the truth, and to temper your emotions. I'm sure that justice will be done.
>Loudly tell Xin to go away and to calm down, when she protests, use that excuse to fake having a private conversation to "convince" her.
>Then quietly tell Xin to leave and sneak around the place, try to find anyone skulking around. Do not engage, but keep an eye. She can meet us at the guard station later.
>Tell Renshu in his mind that we can investigate whatever happened here. We can ask the sprites and any spirits, even ask Bao to use her abilities of seeing their memories if they can't they things apart. We can feed any info to our wolf friend on the guard.

>>4987261
I'd maintain that we'd be more angry than cautious at this point.
>>
>>4987280
Anger isn't going to solve anything, it's obly going to make the situation worse. Not only that, but Renshu has an anger problem, if we show anger now it's foing to hinder his progress.
As for what TL could be feeling? While anger is an obivous answer, he is a master and havs acheived inner peace, so it's not like acting calm and controlled is out of character at this moment.
>>
>>4987285
Controlled yes.
But not calm in anything but thought. subtly and complex deception such as covering our conspiring with xin seems a bit too overlong for when the foaming presence at the time is "I'm not having this shit!"

And I immensely disagree that our friends and students being attacked invoking anger of all things is going to hinder his own emotional journey. Acting on it in a destructive manner would, but feeling our rage isn't.
>>
So do you want me to roll for it then?
>>
>>4987351
eh fuck it, I'll compromise on telling the others that justice will be done.

But remind other anon we can't ask the spirits to do anything, as they would be enforcing a claim of a dragon here.

So we're in agreement with what we are telling them about our relationship and how much we understand the job, as well as getting xin to hunt down anybody who fled and bring them in to the station, as well as soothing renshu/telling him to cooperate.

I leave the actual tone and method of delivery up to you Luo.
>>
>>4987368
We can't ask them to do anything, but we can ask tgem what they saw, since they already go around anyway.
>>
>>4987401
Unsure if that counts as imposing. . . Hmmmmmmmmmm

I guess if we never ask them to do something active, what they saw or feel is free game.

You steel yourself. Fury unabated, you reply with a stoic voice. "Yes, these are my students. Don't worry, I've been a guard as well. I know how difficult it can be with people standing around and poking their noses in but this is the home of a loved one. I just want to talk to them and make sure they're alright." The guard scratches their head.

"If you're their teacher then I gotta take you in as well." He says before quickly adding, "For questioning. I'm sorry but I can't let you talk to the victim just yet."

"What?! We just got here and now you want to arrest us?" Xin Lan shouts. "We haven't done anything."

"Xin. Go cool off." You say. "We don't want to cause any trouble."

"I won't. Not til I get to the bottom of all this." They say motion to the scene.

"One second." You say before you pull Xin Lan aside and kneel next to him. "I want you to go. Scout the building and keep an eye on anyone suspicions. You see anyone fleeing, stop them and bring them to the station unharmed. Failing that I want to know exactly what happened here. Ask around and gather intel. There has to be someone in this city that knows the full story. Whoever did this isn't getting away this with." You say quietly. "No go." You say outloud. "Tell Ming what happened. She can meet us at the station to help clear all this up." Xin Lan nods gravely and hurries off. You turn to face the guard. "I'll go with you for questioning. I have nothing to hide and I want to know why Renshu is bleeding and why you're arresting my students." You motion to them. "Just stick to the truth and stay calm. Justice will be done."

"Yeah, of course boss." Champo says. "We didn't do anything wrong." You motion to the guard.

"I'm ready to go." You say. The guard nods and helps his fellow guardsman stand everyone up and begin the walk towards the guard station.
>>
Everything is going to be alright. Xin and I aren't going to let whoever did this get away with it.

It was my house Tai Lung. They had the arrogance to try and assert their authority in my territory. Had it not been for your students then I don't know what I would have done.

Nothing. You'd have done nothing. I trust you and you would have shown restraint. You've said it yourself. You're going to be someone better. Someone good. You got hit and I know for a fact you allowed it. If you had wanted to then there would have been no one left to question. That's proof enough for me that you're a changed man.

Renshu says nothing and you continue your walk towards the station. Once you arrive, you and the others are seperated into different rooms to be questioned. The room itself was small and rather cramped with only a table and two chairs on either then. Without being asked to, you take a seat despite everything saying for you to simply break out and start combing the city for answers. The guard sits across from you and simply asks,

"So these guys were your students? What exactly do you teach them? Seem a bit too familiar with you than any students I know about."

"I teach them self defense. Nothing as intense as a full martial art but just enough to be able to protect themselves." You say. "I also go into the philosophy of martial arts to temper them. Honor, discipline, and respect. I show them how to better themselves with hard work and exercise. It's less about hitting people and more about improving one's self, be it healthwise or mentally. You can ask around the station, there as several guards who man the walls who have seen my classes. They'll know what I'm doing and if you think they're too familiar with me then even better. I'd rather my students listen to me out of respect of my lessons than just because I'm their teacher. Besides, proper potocols and formality are tiresome especially when it's not nessecary."

The investigator eyes you but says nothing for a moment. "So...how do you choose who can join your classes?" He asks.

"Anyone can join. As long as they're there to learn." You say. "Like I've said. My classes are more about staying healthy than anything else."

"Anyone?" The guard asks.

"If you're worried about the wrong crowd joining, don't. My co instructor is a very good judge of character. Even if I didn't catch it, they would. Even so, my actual combat lessons, if you could even call them that, only teach how to defend one's self. You'd be very hard pressed to initiate a fight with them. They're all about subduing and ending a conflict with minimal injury to anyone involved." You explain, as you cross your arms. "I'm not raising an army if that's what you're afraid of. I'm just trying to give back to a city that is housing me."

"So you're students...do they often eat at that place? It's pretty brand new last I checked." The guard continues.

"I wouldn't know but it's not strange if they do. My partner runs the place and he's been catering for my classes before that. It's only recently that they decided to try and open a buisness given how well received his food was. We spoke about it openly in class along with his sister and even asked for feedback from my students." You respond, albeit a bit tersely. These questions were rather pointless you felt. It was obvious you had no part in this.

"So your...partner..." The guard says with a tone you don't like. "Do you know of any of his past...relationships?" The man asks.

>What do you say?
>Demand what this is about. You're not here to play games or dance around the subject. You know for a fact that Renshu has been busy with improving himself. The fact that this guard is trying to stir up false drama is not only insulting but rather low from what you expect of a guard.

Out of interest Luo

When we say we don't like it, is that because it sounds leading? or because it sounds disdainful?
One is pulling us into a trap, the other is gonna give us shit for our relationship.

though I distinctly remember that over the first month or two, Renshu tried finding other people, so maybe this is tying back into this.
. . .
Renshu, you didn't try to court a member of a greaser gang did you?
>>
>>4988783
It's a bit of both. The fact it feels like he's trying to lead you into something and disdain.
>>
>>4988789
Oh I do not care for this man.
If he can't keep his professionalism over a word, I don't trust him to keep it over an investigation.
>>
"Is this relevant to the investigation or merely idle gossip?" You say, your frustration slowly coming to the surface. "I know Renshu and I know he's trying to better himself. So unless this is some kind of spurned lover or some kind of shade of his past, I don't see how this is important."

The guard purses his lips and jots something down. "Everything is relavent sir. That's why I'm asking it." He finishes writing and stands up before leaving without a word. You sit there, thinking. Renshu had mentioned someone had called the guards or they came too early. That they had been called ahead of time. So clearly someone had set this up. But who and why? The guards might be thinking this is a one and done thing but Renshu's words won't let this sit right.

The guards came too quickly.

You hear the door's creak pull you from being lost in thought. The guard walks in and nods to the outside. "You're free to go, sir." You're escorted out of the station but you don't see Renshu or the others. You assume that they're still in questioning. You hear a small creak above you and leap onto the roof of the station. "What'd you find?" You ask Xin Lan who was crouched at the edge of the roof was the look out into the city.

"There wasn't anyone nearby." Xin Lan says as you kneel next to them. "Guards must have gotten everyone. Looks like we taught our guys well if no one escaped."

"Renshu says the guards arrived too fast. He thinks someone tipped them off." You say. Xin Lan thinks.

"Possible good samaritan?" Xin Lan asks out loud. "Saw a bunch of angry people and called the guard?"

"You know something I don't? All I got asked was if your brother was being intimate behind my back." You ask.

"Makes sense with what I did learn." Xin Lan says with a nod. "Asked around and one of the guys picked up was Pema. I know him, bad drunk. Gets real angry. Problem is that he's always drunk. Does odd jobs here and there for pocket change then turns around to spend it on more drink. Went to my ussual place and asked around. Couple of the regulars told me he came in last night with a few friends. They all got drunk and started shouting about how unfaithful women were and when they got too rowdy they were promptly thrown out."

"You don't think Renshu actually did something like that do you? There was a point he was on his own before we got together." You ask. "He was hurting as well."
>>
Xin Lan shakes his head. "No...I don't think that would be it. Stripes gets all sentimenal and emotional but he's not a fool. He would only do something that would hurt him and not the rest of us. Even then he'd cover his tracks. However, his trade does tend to attract lonely housewives. Speaking form living as him for a while, when you're in the buisness telling fortunes, giving advice, and just lending an ear to people's problems and worries, you tend to attract lonely women who are looking for a mysterious man to take them away from their worries and woes. It's why my books are so popular but even Stripes wouldn't take advantage of a woman like that. That's low even for him at his worst...well if you're not counting the murder." Xin Lan shakes his head. "What I mean is that when Stripes took up the trade, and even when it was just a cover, he genuinely wants to help people or at least ease their worries. He's not gonna use it as a way to get women."

You think for a moment. "You think the men got the wrong idea? Heard their wives were spending a ton of time with Renshu and thought they were having an affair?"

"It's every man's worst nightmare, right? Mysterious traveler arrives, tells your woman what they want to hear and steal her away or worse leaves them a cheater and escapes during the night." Xin Lan says. "Add in some alcohol and soon they think that they can simply beat him to teach him a lesson." Your friend smirks. "As if they'd win." They go quiet for a while. "How is he?"

"He's fine. Might need Ming to stitch up his lip but otherwise fine." You say.

"Remind me to never let him live it down." Xin Lan says somewhat stiffly.

"You're thinking of something else. What do you think?"

"It could be a spurned wife that sent them." Xin Lan says. "Stripes could have told them a relationship wasn't in the cards and they took it in the worst way possible."

"There were 4 attackers and 2 of my students." You say as you recall the number of arrested. "Not bad...but were they all husbands?"

"Could be one who got his buddies for help." Xin Lan suggests. "I'm guessing the guards didn't tell you much."

"No. Mostly trying to fish for information which I gave." You admit.

"I could go in and do some 'investigating' of my own." Xin Lan suggests. "See if I can make them talk."

>What do you say?
>Tell Xin to drop it for now. You don't need to stir up trouble. The attackers were subdued and are in jail.

Allowing a mafia to spring up here is very unlikely to be allowed by the Exarch. It just seems incredibly unlikely to happen.

"Go out and keep an ear to the ground." You say, "Pema seems like a solid lead. Do a bit of questioning when he gets out. Tail him for a bit if you have to. Stay clear of the guards so we don't get this brought back on us. They seem to only be looking at the surface but we don't want to give them any reason to suspect us and take them off the trail of the real culprit."

"You got an idea?" Xin Lan asks.

"No. At this moment I don't know what is going on besides the bare minimum but I'm not just gonna let it slide." You say as you stand up. "I'm gonna stick around and keep your brother company. He might need it."

"Alright, I'll got get Ming and send her over." Xin Lan replies as they leap off the roof top and lands in a nearby alley before disappearing into the crowds. You sit down and wait a bit before talking to Renshu, who at this moment was feeling quite annoyed. A step down from furious but still rather upset.

How are they treating you? You ask.

Like a criminal, as expected. Renshu says, with frustration. What would I give to simply force my way out of this building.

What? But you're the victim.

The investigators seem to be under the impression that I've been seducing all the women in this city. Or at the very least that I instigated the fights. He explains and lets out a mental sigh, Now I wished I moved and broke my assailant's fist with my chin. It was such a well telegraphed punch as well.

What are they asking you?

So far they've asked how many women I've been with. What the nature of my advice is when people come to me for help. They just seem to be adamant that I've been unfaithful to you or at the very least I've been seducing women.Honestly they seem to just want to get this over with.

This does seem like an open and shut case. You admit. But try not to blame them too hard. They're just doing their job and odds are they don't have the experience with things not being as they seem as we do. A few drunks, thinking that their wives were unfaithful, go to enact justice on the man they suspect. But something is bothering me and Xin and we're looking into it. They say they heard one of the arrested was talking to the others who attacked you. This seems premeditated but the fact the guards came so quickly bothers us. Who would have called them and why? It'd simply be easier to let them beat you.

I get the sense that this is simply a front a well. Renshu replies. However I should pay attention and finish this up first. I'm assuming you haven't told Ming yet?
>>
Xin is on their way to do that as well. Figured, you'd want someone you trust treating you.

I'm much rather have Ming treating me, yes. Renshu goes silent and you assume he went back to being interrogated. You lay down on the roof and wait for time to go by. After a while, you see Ming running towards the station, bag slung over her shoulder. You leap down and land beside her as she finishes making her way upstairs.

"Where is here? Is he ok? What happened?" She asks looking around and twisting her bag's strap in worry.

>What do you say?
>Tell Ming everything is fine and that Renshu should be out soon. He just needs a bit of treatment. It's best you don't involve Ming in this just yet.
>Tell Ming what happened and say you have it under control. She can return to her studies. There's no need for everyone to get involved in this.

You give Ming a quick rundown of the past hour or so. "Who would want to hurt Renshu?" She asks. "Don't answer that." She adds quickly. "The thing is, we haven't done anything that would upset someone here. As far as anyone cares we're just travelers. Maybe not you though but who would want to mess with you knowing what you can do?"

"You think they're attacking Renshu to get to me?" You ask.

"I don't know." Ming admits. "I won't deny that women tend to flock to him and someone might have taken it the wrong way." She crosses her arms and thinks. "But if there's anything I learned from you, it's that things aren't always what they seem."

"Xin and I have this under control." You say. "If you find or hear anything, feel free to share, but don't go out of your way to investigate. You are a smart gal, we will consult you for what we find, maybe you can help piece together the investigation that way."

"If you think I'm just going to sit around and wait for things to come to me then you have another thing coming. I didn't come all the way here to stay passive and docile. I'm helping." Ming replies.

You're about to say something when the doors behind you open. Renshu steaps out looking weary and tired. A large bandage is attached to his face. Ming hurries up to the steps and throws her arms around the large rabbit. "How are you feeling?" She asks. "Are you ok? Does anything else hurt?"

"Just my pride." He replies quietly as he peels the bandage off to allow Ming to examine him. "As much as I refused treatment, they managed to put a bandage on me." Ming immediately gets to work and examines Renshu's lip.

"Open your mouth. There's too much blood for it to just be your lip." She says. When Renshu complies, you see the inside of his mouth bright red. "You have really sharp incisors." She mutters.

"My father's I presume." Renshu replies.
>>
"Well unfortunately you sliced open the inside of your cheek with them." Ming says. "Let's go back to your place and I'll stitch you up the best I can. Here," She pulls out a small vial of rust tinted fluid. "Swirl this in your mouth, it'll burn...a lot but it'll help stop the bleeding a bit and disinfect the wound. Don't swallow it. I'm not sure you're stomach will agree with that."

"It seems even when dead my father manages to find ways to hurt me." Renshu says as he pops off the top and does as instructed. You wrap an arm around Renshu and all three of you make your way back to the resteraunt now abandoned save for a handful of your students.

"Master!" You students run over to you and give a quick bow. "We heard what happened. We didn't know what to do so we just kept watch and made sure no one tried anything funny."

"Thanks." You say. "Everything is alright. We can take over for now. I'll let you know about classes next time we meet." Renshu spits out the fluid in his mouth.

"Come on in." He says. "The kitchen is full and I'm not one to serve my guests left overs. Take some food with you." Your students nod and all of you head inside. After Renshu gives away as much as your students can carry, you all lock up and help him clean up. Several tables were knocked aside and food was scattered everywhere from the fight. Your work is quiet and solemn. The once warm atmosphere feels tainted somehow, now tinged with the fight and anger. After you are done, you and Ming take a seat while Renshu brings everyone some of the remaining food before simply sitting at your side and leaning against you, still considerate of your feelings.

"What's our plan now?" Ming asks as she sips her drink.

"We should continue our daily routine." You say. "We can't let anyone know we might have suspicions of foul play. Xin is currently out asking questions of our kind 'vistors'. We might have a lead on one of those drunks. In the mean time, we'll act as if we're none the wise if not a bit wary and afraid. Ming you can ask around the library and see if you can find anything out. I know I might have a few enemies there or at the very least people who might not like me, like Dawa for example. Might be best if we try to avoid them. I'll see if I can get anything out of the sprites that hang around here. Perhaps they saw something. Renshu should return to running the place. Maybe be slightly reluctant to offer advice, especially to women."

"Do we have and suspects?" Ming asks as she pulls some thread and a needle. Renshu gives you hand a tight squeeze before they leave your side to sit next to her. She pulls out a small vial and mixes it with water. "Swirl this in your mouth. It'll make it numb so try not to swallow it." She instructs.

"We don't other than a drunk named Pema." You admit. "But we have to start from somewhere. I think I'll hang around here for a few days incase anyone tries anything." You give Renshu a weak smile. "Maybe you might risk your kitchen and try to salvage my cooking? I do need to beat Bao in a cooking competition."

I'd love to. Renshu says.

"I was thinking though." Ming says as she pushes a needle through Renshu's lip. If training and combat hadn't desensitized you, you'd have been a bit queasy at the sight. "What would our culprit have to gain by attacking Renshu?" She grabs a bit of cloth to wipe away some blood. "My first thought was that they're not aware of his abilities. At least not his combat ones. Otherwise, sending a few drunks to attack him would be suicide."

"Perhaps they're trying to get to me?" You suggest.

"Then they'd have targeted your students." Ming says. "Or perhaps not if they knew you were teaching them self defense. At the very least, you or Xin wouldn't be a target. Not when they know you both can fight back."

"So then it must be an angry husband or wife?" You say.

"I'd like to think so. But as you've said before, we can't let our guard down." Ming replies. "I could look into truth serums." She adds with a wry smile.

"Do those exist?" You ask in surprise.

"No." Ming says. "At least if they do, I don't know of them and I probably don't have the clearance in the library to search for it but then again that's never stopped us before." She says slyly.

>What do you say?
>Tell Ming not to go searching in areas of the library she's not allowd in. Best to not add to your troubles.
>Ask Ming to snoop around the other areas of the library. She might find something you can use.
>Suggest another culprit. Perhaps your friends might have some insight into that.

I do like Qsts, specifically coming out with random theories. I mean the assassins weren't purely buns right? Since Papa Renshu was a tiger.

Thinking back on it someone warning the guard about the fight makes me wonder if someone is testing their reactions to a simple brawl, if it happens a lot some could be desensitising the guard so they stop showing up.

Or its cause they think Renshu is fucking their wives.

"I think it's best we don't put more trouble on ourselves by snooping around places we shouldn't be in." You say. "At least not yet."

"You guys get to have all the fun." Ming says with a pout. She pull the string tight and snaps cuts it with a bite. "There we go. There shouldn't be any scars if you don't pick at it." She says as she tosses the bloody needle to the table and removes her gloves to wipe some hair out of her face. Ming wraps her arms around Renshu's next and pulls him into a tight hug. "It'll be alright." She says. "We'll figure things out for you."

Renshu returns the hug and rests his uninjured cheek on her head. "I have you three. My safety was never in doubt." He says before letting go and standing up. "I think it's best we call it a night. No doubt we'll have to wait for the little one's return before we hear anything we can go on. I'll prepare for tomorrow in the morning. I have a guest room here. Xin Lan tends to use it when he's not sharing a bed with you." He says giving your a pained smile before quickly dropping it and cupping his cheek.

"It might be for the best." Ming says. "We don't know if whoever is behind this might want to strike while we sleep."

"Didn't think I'd hear that from you." You say with a chuckle.

"A healthy dose of paranoia has kept us alive." Ming says with a smile. "One doesn't get to travel with you without picking some things up."

All three of you head up the stairs to the second floor. In the dark, the restaurant seemed rather haunted and desolate. Almost as if all the happiness was sucked out. You decide that it might simply be because of today's events. Renshu leads you to the back end of the hallway and to a lone door at the far corner. "Here we go. I try to keep it clean but knowing the little one, who knows what state they've left it in. Especially since they have a habit of breaking and entering when every they please."

"If it's messy then I'll let Xin Lan know. Don't worry, they'll hear about it." Ming says and she leans down to peck Renshu's cheek. "Get some rest. If your mouth starts hurting come wake me up. I'll mix you up some pain killers."

"I'll be fine." Renshu replies. "I'm used to ignoring painful things." He says. Ming gives him a concerned nod and heads into the room. You're about to follow suit but you feel Renshu gently grab your wrist. "I-...Tai Lung..." He starts slightly embarassed. He clears his throat a bit and glances away, "I do have some extra space in my room." He continues. "Should you like to join me tonight. That is...if you feel comfortable with it?"

>Do you share a room with Renshu?

>No.

>How much research have ya done for this quest Luo? Other than watch Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2 more than once, i mean.
Not a whole lot I would think. I usually do research, which is just basic google searches, when I need to introduce a new concept or idea to the mythology. I'll admit I'm not well versed in Chinese mythology. Other things would include stuff like finding actual Chinese names or locations. I've lost some notes due to my computer failing a while back but some of the names had actual meanings I attributed to the characters. Xin Lan's name for example is a mix of a male and female name. Meant something like new orchid or something like that. I thought that was a nice nod to their whole character.

But for the most part, the game is strung together on google searches and winging it. I'm quite surprised it's both lasted this long and has held together this well.

Xin is going to stake out that house like a bunny hawk, so i dont think we're needed to stay the night.

>>4994137
Forgot to say but i know the elementals are busy and can't interact but couldn't we meditate after leaving to see if they noticed anything?
>>
>>4994272
>>4994256
We can always take a chair if you two don't want to stay in his bed. I still don't think we should leave him and Ming alone if we are going with the story of "Acting shaken".

Even regular people stay with the people they care about following break ins as a source of comfort. And we care about our family more than most people do, I should think.
>>
>>4994278
There's no point in acting shaken right now because there's only us in tge Warren, no one else is staying, and we aren't trying to fool our friends.
And we are staying over or close by the restaurant for a while it was already decided last updated, I think anon meant not staying up as a night watch or guarding against vandals or arsonists.
>>4994272
Just pat him, talk, tell him you are going to your own bed and wish him a goodnight, no need to complicated this.
>>
>>4994278

I understand your point and the chair is a good suggestion, you're making me feel heartless to poor Renshu.

>>4994256
What are you thinking TL will do if he leaves Ren alone? Or what should he do? He'll end up frustrated and looking for answers which we have Xin doing right now.

I'm still sticking with Renshu showing us how to make regular tea or maybe show us Japanese tea making.
>>
>>4994293
We have a mental link anon, Renshu isn't alone by us not sleeping with him.
This vote is not about avoiding the Warrenz we are going to stick by and learn to cook, this is about sleeping in his room or not.
Again, no need to overcomplicate things.
>>
>>4994289
"Acting shaken" is in the context of outside observers. To which I completely forgot that we were doing. Forgive my stupid.

Anyway, the choice is staying in Renshu's room or in the spare room with Ming.
I however, still like the idea of the chair in Renshu's room.

TL is probably still at the point of implying sharing a bed would send him into a tizzy, but being in the same room to sleep is fine.

Oh I have missed this.
>>
>>4994295
Yeah i forgot we were already staying. I'm fine with the chair as well.
>>
Actually, fuck it, overcomplicating things is fun.
Let's recap our options and the suggestions, and their possible consequences.
1)Sleep with him
2)Stay in his room in a chair
3)Go to the library and sleep there
4)Go to the library and meditate there
And the new one I just tought
5)Stay in the warren and meditate
So let's break them down
1 could give us the cover of worried lover; 2 the same, but we will be more tired, but we will have kept watch; 3 will rest us, and we could fluff it as us being shaken by the idea of him cheating and us having a fight, which we will wake up the next day and fix the relationship; 4 is the same, we will be more tired, but we can advance the the investigation; and 5 is the same as 1 and 2, but with the caveats of 4.
I say that no matter what, we do the tea suggeation anyway first thing in the morning, if 1, 2 or 5 win, proceed as normal, but if 3 or 4 does, we rush to the restaurant, make it look like we want to thought things over and want have a talk with Renshu, and instead do the tea lesson.
>>
>>4994297
>>4994303
Wait fuck, I just wrote that analysis thinking I was wrong, had read the updated wrong and we weren't staying.
Turns out that no, it's if are staying i the spare room or with Renshu, and my initial thoughts were right.
I'm the biggest dumb because I doubted myself.
>>
>>4994308
>>4994312
Do you have tea before going to sleep? Is that a thing?
I mean it fits with the other write ins, so it would be fine in my book.
>>
>>4994325

Depends on the type of tea really. Herbal teas are good, peppermint and lavender for example.

>>4994308

Well we've figured it out now at least. If Tai lung is worried he wont sleep well no matter where he sleeps.
>>
Just getting dinner. Will count votes and write ins when I get back.
>>
>>4994325
There are some teas that are calming, but others that are full of caffeine and wake you up. My mother always said that chamomile tea helps relax.
>>4994308
Let me change this
1) Stay and sleep
2) Leave and sleep
3) Stay and use a chair
4) Leave and meditate
And some extras ideas
5) Stay and meditate
6) Leave and stand guard
7) Burn water while trying to make tea
Sleep will make us more rested, even if it's a troubled sleep; Meditating will allow us to investigate, but will tire us even more, specialy if we try to use astral body to check around or try to go to Eureka and use Bao's memory hacks; guarding will tire us, and is most probably useless, I doubt anyone will try to do anything right after all that. [THE CHAIR] is unconfortable, but it allows for sleep, meditation or staying alert, it's the nost powerful compromise.
The tea is a good idea and should be done should if any option wins, either rifht now before bed or at the morning, depending on what herbs Renshu has.
I'm thinking of leaving, trying to meditate and ask a few sprites and than going to sleep.
>>
>>4994345
the chair is only uncomfortable if you do not have pillows and the chair has no back.

Besides, we ain't even getting into if we sit by the head of his bed to headpat him to sleep, by the door to create a sense of security, by the foot of the bed to create a sense of protective intimacy, in the middle of the room if you just felt like going mad, Half way down the bed so you can hand hold comfortably while asleep. The possibilities are endless!

as a minor aside,
>Burn water while trying to make tea
had me in stitches.
>>
>>4994349
A chair is always unconfortable if you try to sleep on it, atleast that's my experience.
No matter what chair, or what I do or try, I always end up getting a stiff neck and waking up only semi-rested.
However, that drawback is shadowed by it's raw, uncontrolled power and versatility. You can even use it as a wepon if nescessary.

>>
>>4994363
I've learned that you just need to keep the head straight back in line with the spine. Leaning against a corner helps with this, then put a pillow behind the neck.
>>
>>4994364
Zhulong will call Shenlong and ask if he can be our friend too.
>>4994369
Thank anon, Iwill try that trick next time I have to sleep in a chair, if I manage to remember it.
>>
>>4994272
You can indeed ask them if you wish.

>>4994178
>>4994220

So I get we're going to talk to Renshu but then we got lists of stuff. What exactly do you want to do?
>>
>>4994410
I want to try to meditate and ask a few sprites if they saw what happened.
No need to investigate to deep right now if it doean't work, maybe we can ask little Fan to search for some sprites that did, so we can ask try again tomorrow.
Or just go straight to Bao, but that shoyld also be done tomorrow.
Tea lesson is obligatory, but I'm not sure if we should make a cup right now or when we wake up.
Pat the bunny.
>>
>>4994410
it feels like we're chatting then sleeping in a chair. With tea being made at some point, with a potetial to meditate.

And as the other anon says pat the bun.

Also if we dont meet a Hunnish Bun at some I will cry. Even if they're an enemy we need to pat the Hun Bun. Blame 1998 Mulan.

I was referring to the nomadic Huns who were used as the villains in Disney's Mulan. Always found it weird since Huns were based much further west.

And a quick google reveals in the Chinese dub the Huns were called Xiongnu which was an empire that predated the Mongols, and are believed to be the ancestors of the Huns. Neat.

>>
>>4994457
Yeah, the Xiongnu were a nomadic people that lived on central asia before the mongols, huns and turkic people got their change.
They invaded China a lot and were quite powerful, because they weren't actually only one people or kingdom, but a sort of confederation between multiple different other nomads that got together.
And it's a bit hard to label were nomads were or lived, because their territory changed a lot, and they often ate up or confederated smaller tribes or defeated foes.
Although there are theories that the Huns are the Xiongniu that went west and pushed other groups after being beaten of China by the Han, and that is the theory that Mulan works on.
>>
>>4994487
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han%E2%80%93Xiongnu_War
Here's the event that supposedly broke the Xiongnu's backs and made them give up on Asia.
That theory is a bit interesting, because it was the more popular one for quite a while, than it was heavily contested and dropped out of favor, and now is being revived once again.
Truth is that the Huns are quite a mystery, no-one is quite sure where the hell they came from or where they went, different from the Vandals, Alans and Scythians in the west, or the Turks and Mongols on the east.
>>
>>4994495
But anyway, saying that it was Attila the Hun would be a joke, since the theory would be that the northern Xiongnu migrated westwards, and only centuries later would start invading the west.
Unless Mulan meant to say that Attila was 500 years old during his reign.
>>4994459
Attila the Bun when boss?
If he does not have a mustache to rival TL's old one I will be sad.

Something catches in your throat and you only nod quietly. You can feel Renshu fill with relief and happiness as he leads you to to his room which was just across the guest room. As you expected, Renshu's room was very much in line with your tastes. It was perhaps the smallest room or nearly so but with enough space for the bare nessecities. There is a lone bed, perhaps larger than you would prefer for a single person and it's bedside table with a lone candle holder and a book next to it, The Spirituality of Song.

Across the room, next to the window, was a lone writing desk with a larger book atop it full of numbers which you assume to be a ledger of sorts. Other than that, there were no decorations nor extra furniture to be seen. Simplicity at it's finest. Despite it being so, you feel a sense of tresspass. Though you're embarassed to admit it, you feel like child who snuck into a girl's room just to see what it was like. Even though the room is simple as can be, it belonged to Renshu and that seemed to be enough to give it a sense of privacy that you felt were invading or at least gave it a forgien quality to it. "I apologize for...how sparce the room is. I'm afraid I don't spend much time here other than for buisness seeing as I don't sleep as others do." Renshu says.

"No...no I like it." You manage to say as you come out of your thoughts. "Honestly I think my room was pretty much the same back home." You admit. "Only the basics. I suppose that was a result of only being focused on training."

"Maybe in future you'll be able to show me." Renshu teases as he moves over to close his ledger and put it away.

"Maybe..." You stammer. You hadn't thought about it but the idea of showing someone you were with your room made you rather uncomforable. Rather than wallow in your embarassment, you decide to start takling again. "You know...I'm proud that you held back Renshu, I knew that you could better yourself." Renshu's ears seem to flick at that as he continues to look out the window.
>>
"Believe me. I wanted nothing more than to break those men in two for embarassing me like that in front of my guests." Renshu says, still not looking at you and leaning on the desk. "This is my territory and no one insults me like that in my own home."

You move in and place a hand on Renshu's shoulder. "Then that makes it even more significant. A person that does the right thing despite their own nature, percieved or otherwise, is more noble than the one that who does it without feeling the need to. After all, someone without fear isn't brave, but is either stupid or insane."

Renshu's ears fall and he looks at you, a soft smile on his face. "Had you told me that a long time ago, I'd have insisted I was not afraid." The large rabbit slips under your arm and leans against you. "But I am afraid. Not of death or of injury. I've lived too dangerous a life to fear such things. But I'm afraid of so much more. I'm afraid that I might end up doing something that will push my friends away. Most of all you."

It could be said that he's gone from one end of the spectrum to the other? Though i don't believe it. I won't lie, if you fell again it would hurt me deeply, but I would leap after you and try to guide you back to our path. Drag you back if nessecary." You say as you pull out your birthday gift to show him as it glitters in the moonlight. "And I'm sure that all of us would do the same for each other, we are family now. People may say that blood is thicker than water, but to that I say that the blood of our covenant is thicker than the water of a mother's womb." You pull the large rabbit into a hug. "Do you honestly think that I care for you so little that betraying my trust would make any bit of difference?" You ask.

Renshu wraps his arms around your waist and buries his face in your chest. "I don't deserve you." He says.

"Luckily you, whether or no you deserve something is not up to you." You say as you pat and ruffle Renshu's ears. "We've had a long day. I hear...tea is a good way to relax. Maybe you could show me how to make some? I never could get it right." You suggest. Renshu looks up and gives you a smile.

"So rather than let a handful of drunks kill me, you'd rather do it yourself and burn my home down?" He jokes.

"Well...maybe just the kitchen?" You reply.

"I think I will pass on the lessons for tonight." Renshu says. "I should get some rest. However, a nice cup of tea sounds good. I'll go make us some." Renshu lets you go and heads out the door to go downstairs. You quietly pull the chair out from the desk and look out the window into the dark streets below. By now the streets were empty and you only see the shadows of the few who were returning home or the guards patrolling the streets. You wonder what you would do if Renshu would fall. Of course you would go to save him and bring him back to being a good person but you don't know how or what would happen. You always hope that you'd never had to do so. You're unsure if Xin Lan could do the same. Unlike their brother, they were still learning or at least slowly adapting to having feelings. Unlike their brother who lived as he did, fully aware of his own actions. Were you too lenient with them? You're not sure. Of course there was your relationship with Renshu. As confusing and complex as it was, you wonder if he ever thought you favored their younger sibling more than them or perhaps they were too busy with life as you were to notice. You lace your fingers together and continue to stare out the window as you ponder things. Slowly, your thoughts drift from your worries of your immediate family back to your current predicament.
>>
Someone was attacking your and your family but who? And why? The mystery wasn't something you could solve tonight and certainly something you shouldn't dwell on until you got more information. For now, you could only wait for Xin Lan to return.

>What do you do while you wait for Renshu?
>Snoop around. See what else Renshu has around his room.

It's less fear of what to find and more being polite, even if it's someone you love, you don't go messing with their things.
We could even accidentaly make him lose a bookmarked page, that would be terribly rude.

Does the book have chapters on teasing poor, not defenceless big kitties?

Oh wait no, it'll be all animalized, so there might be chapters for specific species. Why brain why go there?

Also pic related how I imagine Xin gets when TL tries to make a naughty comeback.

Not really.
Finding it would make me start to cough up lungs, because imagine ALLLLLL the ammunition Renshu and Xin have then on poor Tai Lung.

Does Tai Lung know what the Kama Sutra is?

I mean he's the master of 1001 styles maybe he thinks it could be just another martial art.
>>
>>4995405
Coincidentally he did find a book of a similar sort during his research in the library. Something about tantric sex. I think i wrote that TL was heavily embarrassed even skimming it but did decide to take a peek at it later. Don't remember if I wrote that he checked it out. But it's there. And lucky never mentioned it to Xin. Renshu is still trying to learn to balance his old self with his modern one but height eventuallyreturn to Xins level of teasing. Though probably not in a metal sense as to keep the two buns different enough...maybe only when TL and Stripes are alone. As if they need it.

Yes, divine and eternal, as a true First Girl should be.
Apparently there never was a priest that united themselves like this, and probably won't ever be another. The entire thing with the ritual, the wish, the enotion and the sacrifice was an accident. She is the wind and as much as Shenlong is in a way

I hope after this arc we get to spend some time with some other waifus, nothing against Renshu but I feel like Ming has been a little bit neglected.
>>
>>4995546
Yeah, I've been waiting for when she learns more about chi and rituals so we can have a daily nerd off.
It's just harder to find topics with Ming because of her bornal background compared to TL's autistic training.
Also she gets no plot threads, Xin and Renshu are filled with problems that require our attention, but the cat is so competent that she solves everything she puts her mind to do.
Or Luo can't come up with many plots that involve her, or atleast o es that are difficult or are obvious that require her help. Maybe the one with the alligators if we ever get back dealing with them? She should be able to dismantle their point of view with facts and logic.

Luo is gonna give us a slumber party option with Ming and Renshu to shut us up.

It is the issue, Ming is far too competent, unless we go out of our way to do activities with her like learning about alchemy or chi training, which detracts from the current story and doesn't make sense.

What are the odds TL's cooking issues would affect alchemy as well?

You close your eyes and simply turn off your thoughts. You don't have any plan right now but you feel that simply relaxing would be nice. You didn't want to try and talk to the spirits or to see if Bao was around just in case Renshu came back. It would be pretty rude of you to ignore him like that if you got lost in your own meditations. There really wasn't much to your technique, long ago you had learned how to simply sit down and wait for time to pass without needing to do anything. It was really more like a light sleep than anything else but without the loss of time or self that napping tended to bring.

You had be meditating for only a few minutes before you hear the door open and someone step inside. "You know, I was hoping we could drink our tea before we went to sleep." Renshu says as he places a cup next to you on the desk and somewhat uncharacterisically sits atop it with his legs crossed, tail wagging slightly. "It's chrysanthemum tea. Helps with insomnia and sleep." He says. "With a bit of honey and sugar to help with the taste."

You take a sip of the warm drink. It was sweet but not overpoweringly so. There was still the odd taste left over from the flowers themselves but you could easily ignore it. The warmth of the tea does help combat the chill that the mountain nights brought and you feel it spread throughout your body from your stomach. "Do you ever have trouble sleeping?" You ask.

"No." Renshu replies as he sips his drink. "Sleep has always come easily for me. Not that it means much to me." He admits. "Sleep feels very much like any other mundane thing such as sitting or walking. It's just something that happens."

"You know, in my younger years I would have envied you." You admit. "Sleep always felt like a chore. Or rather something I couldn't wait to get over with so I could get back to working out. Dreams to me were something I quickly forgot because they held no meaning or purpose to me. Sometimes I wonder if what I might have missed. People do say that dreams often hold visions or knowledge that our waking minds don't consider."

"I could watch you sleep. If you want me to check if you speak any secrets while you do so." Renshu says, slightly amused while they watch you over the rim of their cup.

"I'm pretty sure any secrets I speak in my sleep would have been relayed to you by your sister, given how much they look for ammunition to tease me with." You chuckle.

"They have been getting more than their fair share of nights with you. Then again, I don't think any of us could ever tell them no." Renshu laughs.

"I'll blame you for that." You say amused.

"Guilty. I'll spoil them to my dying days."

"Does that...t-that...include sharing me? Or...you know...Xin ways lying about...the whole package deal..." You stammer as your voice fails you. Renshu goes quiet before laughing out loud. You're not sure if it was because of your past interactions with Xin or perhaps the fact that your face was blazing with embarassment but it sounded rather sinister. Perhaps it always sounded like that but his laugh was light and airy but there was a hint of somethign else you couldn't put your finger on. Not that you had much time as a smile grows on the rabbit's face.

Renshu unfolds his legs and places both feet on your thighs and as leans forward and cups your cheek. "Is that what they said?" He asks as he traces a spot on your face with his thumb. "I hope they at least have the decency to let me have a go first." He says.

Your mind goes blank and unable to think of anything only manage to say. "W-well...they might have said that...they would wait for you to kiss me first before doing it themselves." Renshu's eyes widen and their smirk grows, further closing the gap in similarity between both rabbits.

"Do you want to kiss me?" He asks as he leans closer. "Last time, I did it without thinking and I apologize. I should have let you savor the moment." Renshu's face inches closer to yours. "Although I'm curious if any of your studies have translated to romance." Renshu's lips stop only an inch from yours as he whispers, "Silly, snow leopard" before quickly leaning back and ruffling your ears. "We'll do such things on your terms. Not mine." He says with a content sigh, though you can feel a hint of disappointment in it. "At least, as long as I can wait." Renshu folds his legs once more and seems to revert back to the restrained and collected man you're used to.

"Although...I do enjoy being able to be more open with you while we're alone." He admits, as he sips his tea. "There's something liberating being able to let go a bit." You nod, sheepishly and realize that you had stopped breathing. You quickly chug your tea to give yourself something else to do and to think of what to say next.

"I...I see you have your new years gift on your nightstand. Have you been enjoing it so far?" You ask. "You haven't played that much music lately. Maybe I should get one about meditating while cooking instead."

"It is a very interesting read." Renshu says. "Although as you mentioned, I've been a bit too busy cooking to play much music. I suppose that comes with the fact I'm no longer using my cover as much as I used to. Though I still play at nights. I find it to be rather relaxing."

"Have you written any songs?" You ask.

"Not a complete one, no." He admits. "At least not a song I feel is worthy of your time."

"I never thought you'd need to relax to sleep." You admit.
>>
"As much as sleep means nothing to me. Even I need it." Renshu says. "Sleeping while relaxed helps my body rest and heal though I'm not sure the same applies to my mind. Though...I suppose that's why I have you." He adds with a fond smile.

>What do you say?

I think I'll go with the chair. Writing.

"Speaking of sleep. I think we should both head to bed." You say as you stretch a bit.

"It is getting late." Renshu agrees as they try to sound casual. "Well, I'll go get some extra pillows. I have two but I'm not sure if you prefer an extra one."

"Oh! Well..." You start, rather embarassed. "I was...thinking of using the chair." You admit. "I...don't mind. I just really wanted to talk to you again. It has been a while since we had time to talk to one another."

"Yes...right." Renshu says nodding as you feel all the energy of the room drain away. He coughs. "I had assumed that you...well never mind. I was just being a bit foolish I suppose." He continues as he becomes reserved once more though you can hear the hurt in his voice. Renshu hops off the desk and stretches a bit. "I...goodnight Tai Lung." He says with the same polite tone you give to a stranger. The large rabbit gives you a rather pained smile and slips under his sheets with his back to you. You feel rather awkward as you simply watch Renshu lay in bed. Mercifully, it seems like it only takes a few moments before his body relaxes and he sleeps. For a brief moment, your embarassment and shame hold still as you realize how odd Renshu's perception of time must be while asleep. You could stand there and watch him for several hours. Feel time stretch by but for him, his sleep would only feel as he blinked.

You quietly and awkwardly watch Renshu's breathing and sit on the chair. Why couldn't it be easy like with Xin? They could climb all over you, sleep on top of you, hell you often hugged them in public, but when it came to their brother...you just couldn't despite your feelings.

Some other time. There are more important things to take care of. You promise yourself but almost immediately you immediately chide yourself.

Sounds like the old me. Pushing everything aside but my goals...

You cross your legs and meditate. Perhaps the spirits and sprites saw something that could help you. As you enter your trance, your senses are immediately assaulted but noise. Cold and cruel, you quickly realize what it is. Renshu's ghosts were laughing at you. At both of you.
>>

You are...

Xin Lan and you're furious. Someone decided to attack your brother and you were going to figure out who was behind all of this. You had a few leads right now but thinking back, you don't recall seeing Pema being arrested. Perhaps you were to busy trying to yell at everyone. Right now you were atop the guard station's roof. Night had fallen and this was the best time to get work done. It was a weird feeling, being upset. Like a fire that was burning you on the inside. There was pain and yet there wasn't. Part of you missed just the physical pain you used to feel when you saw your friends upset but you've never felt more alive now with this kind of emotion. You wanted to scream, to make others feel what you feel. Right now, however, you had a job to do. You slip, your face mask on and get ready to do what you do best. Remind the people who hurt you what it really meant to feel fear.

>What do you do?
>Break into the guard station. Should be easy enough given how late it is. You need to have a nice chat with your targets.
>Search the city. you're fairly certain Pema wasn't at the arrest scene and you didn't catch him running away. So he still much be out there or previously caught for something else.

Also god DAMN Lung, you really need to step out of your shell eventually. And that means I need to push for that in spite of the others, because frankly this is painful.

You wanting TL to open up to people more or specifically with Renshu? I enjoy how he is currently, he's been emotionally stunted for so long it'll take him a while to grow into the well rounded waifu loving furball
>>
>>4997928
Specifically Renshu. With other people, he is empathetic and shit and can probably welcome them easily because he doesn't fear them.

But Renshu is someone who he is frankly terrified of, for different reasons than pain, so if he is going to get better it has to be with him.
Also the ghosts are laughing at us. I HATE people laughing at us.
>>
>>4997924
>>4997876

I wanna ask since this anon reminded me but how the fuck are we okay that Renshu has actual bound souls to him? They are bound right? It feels like a thing Tai Lung would be a little wary of.

Is there a way to get rid of them? Cause if he is trying to change, for the better mind you, for a judge of the dead to not damn him to hell and them also being a constant reminder of his past, should we be advocating their release to Ren?
>>
>>4997942
Anon, I think you linked to the wrong post.
And I think they are sticking around because they don't want to go on, instead of being bound.
Also I don't wnat to get rid of them, atleast 2 of the ghosts are based.
>>
>>4997942
Good question. I feel it's probably one of the many details that slipped by in the quest with other stuff going on. That or I think anons just see it as the same thing as same thing as our spirit stuff.

As for getting rid of them. I don't think I've ever mentioned if it was possible. I feel like Ren was asked that or maybe it was an option to ask it and it wasn't voted for. It might just been one of my notes lost when my hard drived died. Sorry about that.
>>
>>4997928
>>4997934
I feel that TL's issue with Stripes is comittment...and probably some effects of being raised in a culture that doesn't see two dudes being together in a good light. TL doesn't care but someone can't be that emotionally stunted and raised in such an eviroment without there being some subconcious effect to it.

The big issue I imagine, is that one of those things where once he takes that step there's no going back. Weird thing for a man who can crush boulders with his bare hands but there it is. It's less of "being afraid of who you really are" and more of he simply has absolutely no idea on how to go about it. With the others it can be played off as a joke or a lie and he can used that to hide behind. With Stripes, he doesn't have that cover and even less so since they can share thoughts. Or maybe i'm putting too much effort in my game again. I dunno.
>>
>>4997963
It's also that it was supposed to be an attempt at understanding feelings and trying to help him rather than a straight up commitiment and full relationship from the get go after all.
And I have continued my guerrila warfare[/spoilet]
>>
>>4997963

And my internet decided to die for a while, I was worried there.

As Mrt says this was an attempt to help TL understand his feelings rather than straight up commitment, which is causing issues as Renshu clearly is wanting more from this relationship that TL is able to provide at this point in time.

I mean he's turning shades of red when he tries to say lewdish things. He would probably seize up or faint if he tried anything more forward. At least from how you've written him at the moment.

It also doesn't help since it feels like some of the anons aren't really wanting it to happen. Tell me if i'm wrong other peeps.

-

Regarding the souls details it's more just something that I randomly thought of since he's technically got a deadline to become good and literally having bound souls of people, which is preventing them from going to their own afterlife or get judged, seems like a sorta major point of contention, as no matter how good you try to be, lugging about trapped souls seems a little bit evil.

I wasn't sure if you'd clarified the soul issue before. My memory is terrible but I remember the weirdest things.
>>
>>4997987
The souls issue will probably have to be addressed at some point, yes. But for now, I will get to writing. We're searching the city.
>>
>>4997942
>>4997987
I distinctly remember that the ghosts are not bound to him, he's just the only person in the world who can hear them and talk to them, so they never want to be away from him because the alternative is damning silence and isolation.

And no, I'd like it to continue or progress because A] I feel like it's a natural continuation and B] we chose this path, I'm sticking to it. Being indecisive never ends well with shit like this.
>>
>>4997987
Luo said that Renshu is already considered redemeed by the big judge underworld god, but that's meta knowledge.
And yeah, I don't like this because I was the one that voted no and have been deeply regretting my initial indicesion and weakness to peer pressure.
The whole drama in the past thread with the anon that start okaying and tgem quit over it kind of caused my burnout, but I won't quit if Renshu wins, I like the quest too much to just stop.
>>
>>4997992
If I'm wrong about them being bound by them then I apologise. I coulda sworn that they were people Ren had killed and bound to him.

Pema was in the city. He had to be and you would find it if you had to turn the place inside out. You leap from rooftop to rooftop as you keep your ears out for anything that would disclose the man's location. You hit all the ussual drinking spots and keep watch for him. If he was there, you'd know by the noise he made...or rather the arguements. The Golden Tap was a no go and neither was Spirits' Spirits. You slowly work your way through the city, going from the outer edges of the city and towards the center.

As you travel, the taverns and eateries become more expensive and refined. You see several people wandering the streets but most are heading home or are simply guards. Finally you find your prey. There's a bang and a crash followed by a series of swears in a nearby alley. You race through the rooftops, completely hidden from view and see Pema as he staggers through the alley with a bottle that was far to expensive for someone who does only odd jobs. Pema leans against a wall and drinks heartily, the precious alcohol dripping down his chin and on his shirt before he shoves away from the building and stumbles forward again, a badly hummed tune coming from him. Even from the rooftops you can smell the stench of one too many drinks. You sit on the roof and watch the pathetic display infront of you. Even if you thought you could, you couldn't feel any pity for the man infront of you. Not after today. You continue your pursuit, crouched down and slowly walking alongside him.

You wonder how to handle the situation. Perhaps some smooth talking would get the information that you need. Maybe you could bribe him with more money. At the moment what you really wanted to do was to simply beat the information out of the man and maybe that was the way to do it. Intimidation.

>What do you do? How do you question the drunk?
>Try and smooth talk your way. He's probably too drunk to know he's being manipulated.
>Bribe the man. The chance for more drink would probably give him more than enough reason to talk.
>Intimidate the man. Give him what he deserves for setting up your brother. If he wanted to scare someone, he'd get his fear.
>Write in.

>What do you ask?
>Write in.
>>
>>4998075
Well, Mr Bean is obligatory, as well as Monty Python's Flying Circus, but there were series like Blackadder and skits like Limmy's show and some stand up too.
I'll be honest, some of the cultural and historical stuff flew over my head, but it's always a joy to rewatch it nowadays and suddenly get the joke.

A drink into smooth talking, time to put the bun's training into overdrive.
As for the questions
>If he knew of the bif fight that happened at the new restaurant, it was a dreadful thing
>About the gossip that the owner was trying to go around seducing people
>When he starts bragging, ask how he managed to do it and get away with it
>About those friends of his, were they longtime friends? Or did something tie them all together.
>>

As a minor thing, and something I think would fit with Xin's current state, is beating the crap out of him in such a way that all his injuries appear to have been from falling over while blind drunk.

No brutalising, after all they only clonked our brother in the face, but something has to be done
>>

As much as you enjoy the thought of beating the man within an inch of his life, it wouldn't serve you well to have the guards on edge. No doubt such a crime would leave them all on guard and more perceptive. No, a more subtle approach would have to suffice. Luckily for you, your bragging was never without merit. You make a mental note to have the big guy buy you some lunch as you remind him how much of a perfect spouse you are before you leap to the alley below.

All it took was a single wire and the rest worked itself out. Pema's leg is caught and the drunkard falls. "Easy there." You say as you grab him by the scruff of the neck. "Seems like you had a bit too much to drink." There is no need to introduce yourself, no need to leave any revealing comments. The drunk's mind would make those up for you and, in the end, would cease to be as his inebriation faded away. You flip the man around and gently lower his back to the ground. Pema's mind seems to try to process what happened, his alcohol addled brain slowly putting together the peices. In the end he merely smiles at you none the wiser with your attack.

"Ahh!" He sighs loudly with great relief. "It's been a good night, my friend." He looks at you and furrows his brow a bit, recognition attempting to arrive in his eyes. "You look familiar..." You nod.

"Of course I do. I'm your friend like you said, remember?" You say as you add another layer to your mask and you smile. Pema's face fills with false recognition and your cover only deepens.

"Of course, of course!" The drunkard says as he scrambles to sit up. You surreptitiously free the man of his bottle as he does so and lean against the wall next to him as you wave it.

"Thought you needed a gift, seeing as we're already celebrating." You say as you offer the man his own drink. Senses dulled, the man barely realizes what you're holding and he eagarly takes it from your hands and begins to gulp it down greedily. With another satisfied sigh, he stretches. "So, what's cause for celebration?" You ask.

"Karma." The drunk man says as he wipes his face. "I've done my civil service and have been rewarded by the universe."

"Oh?" You ask, false curiosity on your lips. "What did you do? Surely someone like yourself is often unappreciated for the things you do." You ask, adding false compliments and burrowing yourself in the man's mind.

Pema chugs his drink, this time slightly agitated. "You're right friend! Day in and day out I slave away for this city and receive nothing in return! These people don't know what the good I bring to their lives!" He takes another drink. "But not today! Today I am rewarded!" He rejoices.

"What for?" You ask, pressing him a little.
>>
"Why I have saved several marriages." Pema smacks his lips as if he tasted something foul. "You see, I've learned something. The womenfolk. They're not to be trusted with anything beyond the home. Why just a few days ago I saw a terrible sight, my friend. Married women, tempted by another man! More like whores if you ask me...but nonetheless, good ol' Pema did the right thing. Why I'm good friends with everyone in this city. So I did my civic duty and alerted my friends of this news. I even told them who was behind it." Pema shakes his head. "But no, these men...they didn't even want to do anything about it. Of course, I went above and beyond the call of duty and rallied their spirits. With spirits!" Pema laughs as he raises his bottle at his own joke.

You eye the drunk and imaging burying a knife in his throat but decide it's better to bury your own emotions for the time being. Instead, you place a hand on your face and feign enlightenment. "Of course. I wouldn't have ever thought of something like that. You really are wise Brother. But tell me, were your friend grateful? I heard they got arrested."

Pema nods mid swig. "Ah sad truth. It seems like the guards must have caught wind of their plan."

"If only you were there to guide them." You say with false praise. "Where you then Brother?"

"Ah..." Pema says with embarassment. "Well...you see...I was...indisposed. All my hard work takes a toll on the body and my spirits were rather low. You know how a man is without his medicine is no man at all."

You bury your disgust under a veil of understanding. Pema wasn't lying. In his state, you were surpsised he was coherent at all. Unless the man surpassed you in deception.

As Mrt said.

Though maybe instead of having him trip again could we maneuver him so at the end he repeats that he caused the fight in front of a guard? Pema is wasted anyway I wouldn't be surprised if they take him in to sleep off the booze. Gets him locked up so others wont find out that we know what he does.

Was just a thought, I hadn't considered we'd be revealed. Having Pema fall asleep in the street should be an idea.

Might i suggest a lover's night at Ren's cafe later on. Clear this horrid attitude against him, also gives him a chance to check the husbands Attitude against him and shows he's not after their wives. It'll give Ren something to do while TL is searching fo other stuff

Clear up the issue and if there is someone else then they can't use the cheater rumours.

It wasn't a bad idea really, it just had the chance for an extra risk.

What anon said, a night for couple's only.
That way the husband and wives can fix their problems, and Renshu goes from troublemaker to problemsolver.

>>
"These harlots, what were they doing? How could they go behind their husbands? Ah, excuse me, I think the drink is making their names escape me." You say. Pema burps and rubs his eyes.

"They were with another man, my friend." He says. "They be so brazen as to visit him during the day. But I'm afraid it wasn't just those women. Others would flock to this man, day in and day out. How he had not faced retribution until now I don't know. But justice was served, my friend. Justice was served."

"But how could have the guards know what would have happened? Could have been a traitor among the friends? Or perhaps one of unfaithful wives heard of her husband plan to stop their lover?" You ask.

"Oh I wouldn't know about that." Pema says tossing the bottle aside. "I'm sure someone called the guards. You know how things are. One person sees something they don't know the full story about and suddenly we're the bad guys for doing the right thing! So they call the guards. Hopefully they managed to have their revenge."

"Who were they again?" You ask. Pema thinks and furrows his brow. He scratches his head as he tries his best to push past the inebriation and think clearly. Inevitably he shrugs.

"I don't recall. Nonetheless, the universe has gifted me for my good will. However they were. I'm sure they are greatful." The man says flippantly.

"You must know who could it be Pema, you are a good man and good friend to all, there can't be two injustice done to folk like us." You insist. The drunk doesn't even attempt to think.

"I'm sorry but I'm a little to drunk to remember them myself. Perhaps a bit more drink might jog my memory." He pulls at his pockets and frowns. "Hmm...no more money. Well, tomorrow is another day! I'm sure I'll be rewarded some more."

"Right..." You say as you get off the wall to leave. "Well...hopefully next time you get what you truly deserve."

"Right you are." Pema agrees and sighs. "It's a good thing I was told about this to warn the others. Who knows how long their wives would be cheating on them."

You stop. "I thought you saw it happen." You ask as you slowly turn.

"Ehh? No no. Someone told me and I told the others." The drunk shrugs.

"Who? Who told you?" You ask. Pema shrugs again.

"I...can't remember. Hey, do you have anything else to drink? You know, for a friend?"

"No. You have to remember." You say. "Who told you?" Pema frowns.

"Hey...I don't know. I'm a hero though and that's all that matters." The man argues. He was far to drunk to be of any use. A fact that makes your blood burn.

"Right..." You say slowly. "You already done your part my friend. Let me help you sit, before you injure yourself more."
>>
"But I'm already-" Pema begins before your fist collides with his face. The man's head smashes into the wall and he slumps to the floor. Just an drunk sleeping in the streets. In the morning, his injury would be nothing more than a result of his hangover and this whole conversation would be long forgotten. You resist the urge to bring your heel down upon his nose and instead leap back up onto the rooftop, frustrated and angry.

>What do you do now?
>Head back home. Hopefully the others have more clues.

If not than go to the house of one of the assailants, maybe one of than that has no children, and whoose with would be willing to help. Nature's Elixir. That was the name emblazoned on the bottle. Unlike cities outside of the Library, alcohol here was brewed locally and each bottle was branded with it's maker's sign. That way it was easy for consumers to know where it originated and drive buisness there. For a someone on a hunt, it made laughably easy to trace back. You make your way to the tavern, a rather luxurious place known as The Dragon's Peak. Even for you it was a bit too high class, or rather it tried hard to seem like it. What it had in fine chairs, food and drink, it lost in the charm in terms of sociability. Everyone seemed to be too busy trying to seem high class and proper to have an actual real conversation.

Even so, this place was far too expensive for someone like Pema, even if he was merely buying a drink let alone a whole bottle. You land on the street and watch the door for a while. The tavern was still quite lively this time of night with people coming and going every so often. Each time the door opens, you can see the decorated interior full of customers and drinkers. You can see several of the regular bartenders and waitresses wandering about inside from this angle and upon rounding the perimeter, also see a few cooks coming out the back though none holding anything resembling a bottle. More than likely the alcohol was being held in a basement and kept cool by the mountain.

>What do you do?
>Go in the front and start talking to the customers. Perhaps one of them knows something.
>Enter via the kitchens in the back. Some of the workers might be able to give you information.
>Go ask to speak to the owner of the place. They would surely know of anything being bought or sold.

>Go ask to speak to the owner of the place. They would surely know of anything being bought or sold.

This is feels very familiar. Ask her if someone stole this bottle you found it on a drunk who had instigated a brawl. Specifically a drunk who wouldn't even be allowed to step foot in the bar and would sully the good name of the "The Dragon's Peak".

Something something ask where Fen Fang is.

I've already said once that the only reason that they had more interaction is because we were trying to fix problems.
We didn't date or show any interest to them, only Xin was the one that made the passes, but that were jokes, and Renshu's affextion appeared 5 updates before he popped tge question that set everytging on fire.
And since you already admitted that you have problems coming up with plot points to tie to Ming, it comes to the conclusion that it was an unintended, artificial railroad towards Renshu and Xin, specially since Ming and Bao had relarionships or rivals given to them, which some anons tought to not intrude, so they were taken indeed.
Also Renshu's felt like infatuation and emotional blackmail, given that the moment we denied it, he went of to hurt himself. A realistic, yes, but did force our hand toward accepting a relationship only for him to stop. The fact that Xin lied because of emotions, and anons took it at face value didn't help neither, nor the duck misinterpreting our questions and pushing for that path because he didn't have experience on our brand of hot mess.
Love you too Boss

Bao, but I accept Ming if nescessary.

Actually, railroad is the wrong word, but I can't think of the right one.

Nah, the duck didn't misinterpret anything. It was a deus ex machina and nothing more to put shit to rest once and for all. No ill intent nor bad psychology there. As for ming or any artificial railroading. I don't think so at least not as much it seems to appear. Even with all the stuff you had going on, you had plenty of time to hang out with Ming and given the weird nature of Eureka, had plenty of time to speak with Bao. I may not have plotlines ready for either but that doens't mean they didn't have anything to say or interact with you. Anons got real weird with those I will admit. If you really, really want to know who I wanted to back?

It was Ming. Simply because I'm a bit of a sucker for the fact she was the first person who was actually nice to him. Even Bao was afraid of TL all the way through that adventure. Xin is way more fun to write though in terms of having a relationship with TL. Stripes is enjoyable simply because the two are so similar and actually can have deep conversations. They force one another to actually think.

A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. And I learned that a good QM/DM doesn't set shit in stone. What I want to happen and what will happen will never align perfectly. It's just the way things will go and if you want to run a game or anything really, you gotta learn to roll with the punches. We have our hand and now we gotta play it. Course...we're actually playing chess but you know. Chucking things across the table is pretty fun.

>Talk to workers first, then owners

Workers see more and remember odder things. We want the waiters and bar tenders.

>>
>>5000180
>Even with all the stuff you had going on, you had plenty of time to hang out with Ming and given the weird nature of Eureka, had plenty of time to speak with Bao
You see that's the problem, we anons are reactive be nature most of the time, and we try to enjoy the quests to compmete objetives and do what is needed. Not only that, but we weren't really hanging out with Xin or Renshu, we were training and solving problems. Thing is, most problems had Xin or Renshu attached to them, and going to Ming or Bao would be pure flavor.
Even the options that had nothing to do with them came attached with Xin or Renshu, while Ming was far away doing her alchemy or negotiating with people.
Your mistake was not setting things in stone, but having some misterious counter of interaction that would lead a character to fall in love for TL just being heroic and a friend, and not only have that character, but another one too try to guilt trip the players until they say yes.
And as I said before too, this is just trying out things, tgere is no promise of relationship to Renshu.
We are going to leave the cuty, realise he was being a baby and already had what he wanted, selfishly forced sonething into us, and we are going to return to being blood brothers.
And people took it very seriously the Dayou's enfatuation and Bao's ties to Shenlong, so it made it harder for tgem to even want to pursue them romantically to begin with.
But my main gripe with Renshu, it's how it felt that we were being forced to accept it with all the woe is me, righ after we did everything for him, it even has made me dislike the character. I can forgive Xin because they don't understand emotions, and her natural state and training is to be manipulative, but from him it made me feel betrayed.

The issue could be seen though that Renshu literally went to hell and it was our mistake that sent him there. And we were checking on his mental state afterwards because compared to Ming and Xin it would have been heartless to have ignored him because you made it rather obvious that he was struggling and then after we had tried to reject him we got told off by Xin saying how dare you, he knows his own feelings.

Don't underestimate how easily influencable anons will be to avoid conflict. Don't get me wrong the story is great, but when it came to the hell part and after I felt sorry for renshu and while I would have wanted to interact with the others a bit more, I would have felt like a dick if I had been around to pick an option that wasn't checking on the tiger bun.

If this emotional stasis and inability continues, I'm fine with the end of the city being the end of the attempt of the relationship.

Because if over 9 months you [TL] can't get over yourself, or make progress, at some point you just have to accept that you're not cut out for romance and go Celibate.
Anons hold the power there.

You decide to speak to those at ground level. The workers and cooks. If anyone would notice something off or out of place it would be them. You slink your way over to the back door and keep an ear out. You wanted to see if you can catch a bit of idle gossip. Often times, the most information you can get out of a person is the information they disclose when they think no one is listening to. You lie in wait behind a few crates that were stacked next to the door. The perfect hiding place. It amazed you how many kill zones people set up in their day to day lives.

You crouch down and listen. Over the sounds of chopping knives and crackling fire, a small conversation manages to float through.

"Hey did you hear what happened earlier today?" One voice asked.

"If I say yes, will you get back to work?" Another bored voice responds.

"No, come on! This is really interesting." The first voice says. "There was this big fight a few blocks down. At that new resteraunt."

"So?" The second, still bored, voice replies.

"I heard that a bunch of guys attacked the place. Tried to kill the owner." The first voice says excitedly, now caught in the wave of gossip. "But check this out. A squad of martial artists came to save him! Took out the gang on their own."

"You're reading too many stories."

"No way. Didn't you hear? Some guy is teaching Kung Fu classes. My cousin's friend is in it. Says the teacher is like some kind of master monk or something like that." The first voice insists. "I heard it was those guys were the ones that saved the owner."

"Oh yeah?" The second voice asks with only a hint of pausing from their work. "Still sounds like a bunch of garbage to me. Probably some kind of gimmick teacher or whatever. What's a Kung Fu master gonna want to do here? He can open a school anywhere else."

"I dunno. Maybe he's trying to reach enlightenment. Tons of people come here for that right?"

"I guess...that it? Listen man, if you're gonna slack off and tell stories then at least tell good ones." The second voice says. "Boss is already hounding us after the theft. I don't want to get yelled at for not doing my job. Heard that next person to mess up is gonna get fired."

"B-boss is just bluffing." The first voice says and you hear the clanging of kitchen ware. "He wouldn't do that right? Besides, no one stole anything. It was just a few misplaced bottles. There wasn't even anything the ledger."

"That's because it was the bosses private stock, you idiot. You know he keeps his person stash here with the rest of it. Why's he gonna have it on the tavern's ledgers? You haven't been skimming any have you?"

"What?! No way! I like my head on my neck actually. No way I'd cross the boss. Last guys I heard who did never got work here again. I heard he actually had to leave the mountain."

"Just don't do anything stupid."

>What do you do? What do you say?
>Write in.
>>
>>5000348
>Excuse me, I hope I'm not interrupting your work too much, but I couldn't help but to overhear you conversation.
>I was searching on how a broke drunk, who I'm certain has been barred from this fine estabilishment had gotten his hands on a bottle of Nature's Elixir.
>I was going to ask if any of you had seen a patron giving such drink to a beggar after existing this place, but now I'm afraid it might have been something more dire.
>Could you tell me of that break in and theft?
>Oh, and before I leave, between ypu and me, your cousin has been doing wonderfully, you should consider joining too.
This is not very good, I would say it's autistic even, but it's the best I can come up with right now.
>>

>>5000378
Support this but possible rewording. It sounds like too much like Tai Lung while we're Xin.
>>
>>5000393
I wanted to sound posh so they think Xin is a patron or is suposed to be here.
But it might not be the best idea, or I didn't pass the idea correctly.
>>
>>5000440
Ah I get ya but would a posh patron ever go to the kitchen? And not complain?
>>
>>5000454
Yeah, the idea was that this was a posh patron who found a bum nearby with a fine bottle of the tavern, and wanted to find out who gave the riff raff such a good quality drink, but he than overhears the gossip and thinks it was stolen.
Than when Xi goes to leave, she drops a hint that she is actually an instructor to the school.
I definatly fucked up conveying my idea. I also think it's not the best one, but it's the only excuse I could come up with to justify Xin being here to them.
>>
>>5000480
Ah that makes sense, I understand then. I'll still support your idea.
>>
>>5001035
Should we even do the reveal at the end? It could compromise things, and we may need to talk to the owner. Than again the guy seem to be a good person, so he may only talk about it to his cousin.
>>
>>5001143
I'm not sure. Depending on how the next part is written I do think we should offer our services as a detective of sorts to the owner. If we mentioned tracking down that the missing bottle was from here and that someone is offering the owner's private stash of alcohol to people as an incentive to cause trouble I think it may get the owner on our side. If he doesn't cooperate then maybe a word to the guards that the man who was started the fight was paid with an expensive bottle of wine that only one person has.

Even a level-headed guard who thinks there was adultery going on will find it suspicious why someone was paid to pass the information about potential adultery going on.

I see it perfectly possible that TL's idea of a perfectly good excuse to spend time together is martial arts. Stay in his safe zone until he psycks himself up to push forwards, see if anything happens and have a fall back when it goes poorly/far too well.

By week 3 we may even be able to peck him on the cheek without shutting down.

In order to keep things alive. Mings progess is going well.she can hit targets with pretty much perfect accuracy and moving ones with reliable accuracy. As for the objects she can throw. What do you want her to focus on?

I know she wants to be taught how to actually fight but no punches. She says a doctors hands should be used to heal and not harm. Whether or not you want to teach her according to those philosophies is up to you. But she seems to want to take a more active role in the group.
>>
>>5003104
I remember that, and we were building up to teach her chi strikes, we had a whole list on tge order of things.
I just don't remember the order of weapon, chi strikes, and ritual or sorcery that we were going for, or if we were going to drop one of them.

We were doing needles first, then it was Chi rituals to make summon minions [may need research first], dodging [which she has mastered], then capping with Chi strikes.

Maybe use her hands for transportation/mobility aids?

"Hey, sorry for dropping in but I just found a broke drunk carrying a bottle of Nature's Elixir. I wanted to know a bum managed to get their hands on it. I was gonna ask if you knew of any patrons giving him the drink but now I'm starting to suspect something else. Mind telling me about that theft you two were talking about?" The two cooks look at each other nervously.

The cook, whom the bored voice belonged to speaks up. "W-we didn't say anything about a theft. Just who are you anyways?" He asks pointing at you with a meat cleaver. "You-you just go on or we'll call the guards."

You inspect your nails, a look of boredom on your face. "I'm someone with a vested interest in this case." You say. "Of course, I'll go right now if that's what you want." You say as you turn around to leave. "But then it'd have to be the two of you that will need to explain it to your boss why another set of his bottles went missing."

"Wait, what do you mean by that?!" The other cook asks but you wave your hand and continue walking away. You hear the two of them scramble to the door as you walk. "No wait! We'll help!" He shouts.

You slow down your pace but only a bit. "What do you want to know? Are you gonna catch the thief?"

>What do you say?
>Ask you questions but say nothing about catching anyone. (What do you ask.)
>Say you'll catch the thief but you want to speak to the owner.
>Tell them to take you to the owner, you'll see if you can catch the theif after that.
>Write in.
>>
>>5003327
That didn't go as well as I tought, but it works
>If this theft is related to the case I'm already investigating like I think it is, than I will either find the thief or those involved with them.
>Well, first things first, is this bottle one of those missing from your boss stash?
>Do you remember when the theft happened? Where there any break ins or did they simply disappear?
>Do any of the regular patrons haven't show up today? Or one that have been conplaying too much suddenly become brighter?
>Have you seen a man by the name of Pema, or who looks like (describe the drunkard) around this place?
This is all I can think of right now, somebody smart please Sherlock the shit out of them
>>
>>5003327
>Ask questions, say nothing about catching anyone

>Is this bottle one of the missing stash? [show bottle]
>There hasn't been an obvious break in, so tell me about how a few bottles can go missing from a private stock? [the boss is hounding them, so he thinks the staff have fucked up rather than someone breaking and entering]
>Do you know which bum I got this off? [Watch their reactions, then give them the name Pema. Any confusion over the name means they didn't supply him. Fear is more of an indicator.]
>Now, he was given it by someone, either of you know who did it? [We are expert lie detectors, we can tell if they do through noneverbal cues and listening to their heart beats.]
>Tell me more about the time of the losses/when it was discovered/how many were taken, if you know when it went missing [Just anything interesting]
>Tell me, this place hears a lot of rumours, what else have you heard about the fight down at the new store? [Once we get a baseline of the lies, we can begin our own counter-propaganda and set the record straight, then tilted in our direction again.]

This is the best plan I've got.
>>
>>5003340
>>5003369
I'll mix and match these. I'll get to writing.
>>
You shrug noncomittally. "If this theft is related to the case I'm already working on like I think it is, then I will find the thief or those involved with them." You say. "But first thing first. Is this your missing bottle?" You ask as you show the two the bottle you lifted off of the drunk. The two cooks move in closer and have to lean down to examine it.

"Yeah, I think that's it." The eager one says.

"You think?"

"Well...I haven't really seen the boss's private stash." He admits. "I know he has one but I'm not a waiter so I don't use it. I mostly stay here and cook."

"It's from his stash." The other says. "You can see that the label doesn't have the usual year and number on it. The bottles we sell have the year it was made and how many of them were made as well as what number bottle it is. Helps with inventory and makes the clients thing they're geting something rare."

"Well do you know who I got this off of?" You ask. The two of the cooks give you a weird look.

"How would we know?" The bored one asks.

"I got it off a man named Pema. Ring any bells?" You reply. The two cooks shake their heads. You frown. "Alright. Do you know how many bottles were taken?"

"No...I think one or two because the boss didn't notice until inventory was taken. There's not many in his stash. He basically takes the best batches of each year for himself. So at most there's like 10 or 12 bottles. Any more and you'd totally notice. We only got the reaming because we exist. Boss seems to think that we all skimmed a bottle or something for ourselves."

"Anything else about the theft that seemed odd?" You ask.

The two cooks think. "None of us noticed it?" The suggest weakly.

"I feel like that the point of a theft." You say.

"Yeah but...the wine cellar is accessed through a door next to the bartending area. If you were going to get a bottle of wine, someone would see you. One of the waiters or bartenders would at least. We're never over crowded. We only allow a certain ammount of people for an hour or so then let more people in."

"Got any suspects? Maybe a regular who has been upset or complaining recently but is suddenly happy?" You ask.

"No, sorry we don't really interact with the guests. But you can probably ask some of the waiters after work. They'll definitely know more." The cooks say.

"I'll think about it." You say. "But speaking of odd things happening. You guys hear anything about the fight at that new resteraunt?"
>>
The eager cook nods. "Yeah! I heard there was this whole gang that showed up but this like school of kung fu studetns showed up. You know about the self defense classes right? It was like their own gang that was in the place a the time. Tons of fighting and people getting arrested."

"You're just hearing rumors. Probably just some drunk or angry customer that got thrown out."

You nod. The two cooks weren't lying. They weren't well informed but they at least weren't lying. They seemed to have come to belive you're an investigator of some kind which helps with your cover. It would be best if you play into that for more information from the rest of the staff.

>What do you do?
>Continue asking questions from the two cooks.
>Ask to see one of the waiters right now.
>Wait until the place closes then go ask the staff as they head home.
>Write in.
>>
>>5003555
>Ask to see one of the waiters right now.
>Ask if their boss would be willing to cooperate, or if would rather bruah this whole deal aside.
Even if the owner would be willing to help, I want to try to get some info without there being a feeling of coersion. Also the employees would be lesa likely to cooperate when they just want to go back home or relax after their shift.

Oof. Just got off of work. I'll be able to do a write up in a little while.

However, I have thought of something. Discussion was had along Stripe's ghost and about him letting them go. I will point out that cat bun's fighting style heavily relies on them as well as a lot of things in his life. Having suddenly lose them will have a major impact. Perhaps this is a good time to brainstorm on how to compensate for that loss if you wish to try and convince him to do so. The rough equivalent would be like if you had your chaotic mediation all your life and now suddenly you lost it. Or like the time you lost your ability to commune with spirits.
>>
>>5004596
Maybe he could cycle out the ghosts? Let new ones follow him, but convince the older ones to pass on.
Maybe it could be like some sort informal purgatory before they get judged, so they can have another chance before going to hell or heaven.
>>
>>5004596
I like Mrt's suggestion. As long as he isn't binding them to him by force then yeah sure act as mini purgatory.

It was always the idea of holding someones soul felt insanely evil.
>>
>>5004605
>>5004649
I distinctly recall that is what he already does. He doesn't bind them, they just talk to him because he is the only person who they CAN talk too.
>>
>>5004649
Yeah, if it's forcefully holding them than it should go, even if it impacts his fighting style.
>>5004605
Anyway, other dumb ideas
Maybe he could learn a way to still see things around him by meditation and other ways of chi, even if the ghost stop hanging arpund, he would still have a sensibility, and ways to interact with them, so maybe some sort of spul sense To detect a being lifeforce? He is studying how to meditate through music, and if we do buy a meditation through cooking, he could develop a parallel form of the chaotic meditation too; maybe even a form of chi ecolocation could work too, since in a way he is becoming blind and fi ding a way to see.
>>
>>5004661
The problem is that those ghosts are just following him around avoiding the afterlife, apparently the same ones for a long time.
And if Luo is taking the idea of freeig them seriously, than it might not be as benelovent as we first thought.
But I do remember that when we asked him to get some ghosts to scout some of them fot lost or didn't come back, and that they were doing it because they were bored, so I don't know.
>>
>>5004671

Maybe if there are sould with him that are avoiding hell then maybe he can work them through their issues so they're willing to leave on their own?

Also if Ren was brought into hell why didn't the ghosts go with him when he got judged
>>
Ok i'm back.

>>5004671
I am taking it seriously. It's a legit thing you can ask Renshu to do. Obviously, it's a rather big thing you're asking for and it's not going to be readily accepted but it's a path you can take. I just wanted you to be aware of the effect of what you're asking. Anyways, I'll get to writing.
>>
>>5004671
Exactly, it's just because he's been asked to do them that the ghosts do them.

>>5004717
I'mma be real chief, I consider that a bad deal. Getting rid of his ghosts just seems like such a cunty thing to do, even if the ghosts are cunts.
>>
>>5004729
We should probably ask Renshu more about the whole deal with the ghosts and stuff first, we have little knowledge about the entire situation.
Although setting up a way were he helps ghost inprove themselves and move on would be good, they can't escape tge afterlife forever anyway. It can help with his redemption, and he gets to keep some around for his style.
>>
>>5004729
>I'mma be real chief, I consider that a bad deal. Getting rid of his ghosts just seems like such a cunty thing to do, even if the ghosts are cunts.

You mean that what I did is a shit thing to do or just telling the bun to let the ghosts go?
>>
>>5004784
Telling the buns to let the ghosts go.

Though if you could clarify, between my memory and the proposed reality, are the ghosts actually STUCK AND BOUND to renshu, or is it as I remember and they CHOOSE TO BE AROUND him with the ability to wander off at any time?

>>5004744
It is probably a neat idea. He's been a shaman most of his adult life, but I don't think he ever turned that on the ghosts.
>>
>>5004784
I think he meant that letting them go is a bad idea since Renshu doesn't seem to be an evil wizard forcing them to do stuff boss.
Listening to the players, giving thought to suggestions, asking a "are you sure" and claryfing things is a good practice.
>>5004815
I think that the shaman was mostly a cover, so I wanted to turn him into the real deal.
>>
>>5004816
I mean, real talk, even if he didn't do it out of altruism, the man was still good at his job.

And that is what I mean. If it ain't hurting nobody, no reason to make em go. And after this long, I think Renshu would have piped up about it if there was something morally dubious going on.
Who even supposes he can make them go away. He's spent his life with them, a good part of his early years trying to escape them and the latter of those years drowning them in whiskey.
>>
>>5004815
>>5004816
Sorry, things have been pulling me away from my PC. The ghosts are bound to Renshu iirc. He bound them to him. They don't have a choice to on if they want to leave. Some ghosts do choose to linger around Stripes, because he's the only one who can interact with him and leading to more noise he can't shut off. But the ones that have been consistently with him are bound to him.

>Listening to the players, giving thought to suggestions, asking a "are you sure" and claryfing things is a good practice.
I like doing that so my players have an idea of what they're getting into but I don't want it to seem like I'm asking "are you sure" to ward off the idea or as a threat.

Yeah bound souls is an issue for me. But how to deal with it if its gonna nerf him is interesting?
>>
>>5004827
On one hand. Moral and ethical issues of binding ghosts.
On other hand. Pretty sure the ghosts were cunts and I don't want to remove such a tool from Renshu, given so much of his way of living is tied to the root of this power.

The first obvious answer is just "don't bind more ghosts, let them come and go as they please". Which is risky.
Second is just finding new "roommates". Give some benefit in return for being bound, which in of itself benefits Renshu.

Well shit, those have to go.
But maybe he can do some kind of contract instead of straight up forced like they have 7 years (same time Yanluowang gave him) to better themselves, than they are unbinded and let go. Of course if a ghoat is already good, or gets purified before the time limit, than don't offer the deal, maybe just ask them to hang around out of the goodness of their heart.
Or we can try one of these >>5004667

I see the "are you sure" as a way to stop something retarded, or make players question their decisions before comitting to it, rather than just tryi g to ward off an idea that ypu wouldn't want. Although there are some people that try to do it that way.

>"Are you sure?" Is DM code for y'all are wanting stupid shit and or warning anions that shit'll go down.
Yeah that's the vibe I get but I do want let you guys know of details before you make a decision. Like, the fact that letting go of the ghost will have a massive impact on stripes. The details of that impact are easily seen if you think about it but that assumes anons remember all the details of a character at the time or are caught up in the story which is an unfair assumption in my opinion. It's almost crossing the line of "Well you didn't say you grabbed a flashlight when you said you wanted to explore the cave." Like it's a shit move to punish that because obviously they'd grab a light source unless pressed for time or something like that and to punish people for not taking the time to remember such a small detail is a shit tier move.

The issue basically resolves itself if we find out what will happen to Ren's soul if he doesn't free them. Don't want to fuck poor ole TL down to hell because Ren is relying on dead bound souls.

All I remember is there's a guy host in Ren's collection of souls. Probably one of the ones who laughed when TL didn't get it on with Ren.

It's one of those male geisha japan had.
And I still think they should be unbounded even if there won't be punishement, because forcing soneones soul to do something is a dick move.
Unless they volunteered to do it, in which case we should hear the trade terms and maybe renegotiate them if they were abusive.
We probably should go ask Bao or Shenlong about it, or talk with the great judge. Maybe they can off a message or something if we can't visit him.

"Can I speak to one of the waiters?" You ask. "Preferably one who was working at the time of the inventorying."

"Ahh...Ah! Diki was waiting tables that day. She's in right now." The eager cooks says. "I can go get her."

"Wait. We can't just pull people away from their shifts!" The other cook says. "We're already wasting enough time talking to this guy."

"Are you gonna hold up an open investigation?" The eager cook says. "He's probably working with the guards. They might need someone who won't raise suspicion. We could get in trouble if they find up we're working against them." The other cook raises his hands in exasperation.

"Fine but if we get yelled at for angry customers, it's on you." He says and returns to cutting carrots. The other cook quickly hurries into the front of the establishment and you stand there as you patiently wait for his return. A few mintues later, you're rewarded as the chef returns with a young woman in tow. She was wearing a red and rather revealing dress though more so on how it clung to her body than any lack of clothing. She looks down at you, both physically and otherwise.

"Can I help you?" She asks in a rather annoyed tone as she idly twirls some hair on her finger. In your opinion, Ming did it better.

You cross your arms, "Yes, you can. I want to ask you about the night this place did inventory. Did you notice anything out of place? Apart from the missing bottles?" You ask, your tone authoritative and cutting off her obvious response. The waitress hums as she thinks, still twirling her finger in her hair and bouncing from one foot to the other.

"Well...I don't really remember much." She admits. "But I do remember something felt off. Like...the floor felt crowded." She says. You raise an eyebrow.

"The floor is what we call the dining area." One of the cooks explains.

"Well yeah, it only makes sense." The waitress replies as if the idea was obvious. "Anyways, that's something I noticed."

"I thought only a certain ammount of people were let in at a time?" You ask.

"Well that's true and the place was packed full but normally it's not a problem. I don't know...I just felt like I had to stop and let someone pass by alot. Normally, there's always just enough of us so we can move around without issue but that night it was like there was too many of us but only for a little bit. After an hour or so, things went back to normal."

"Was anyone doing an extra shift or the like?" You ask. "Maybe someone scheduled too many people?"
>>
The woman thinks. "Yeah. We were all there."

"And that didn't seem strange to you?" You ask, slightly frusttrated.

"No...why is that weird?" The waitress asks.

"What does one need to do to buy a whole bottle of wine from here? Is is expensive?" You ask.

"Uhh...no one buys a whole bottle." The woman says. "You can't afford it."

"Just name the price." You say. The woman gives an irriated sigh and gives you the price of a single bottle. Needless to say, you could probably buy a high class dress or two with that kind of coinage. It was obvious whoever gave Pema that bottle either had deep pockets or stole it. Neither gave positive light to the kind of person who would do such a thing.

Got to ask those questions that the cooks couldn't.
>Anything odd from that day to these one? Any patrons that are regular not coming to visit, or ones that have been a bit more down suddenly throwing parties?
Because they don't interact with the customers
>These special bottles out of the owner's stash, that are different from the regular ones that are sold, are they put on a separate place tham the regular onea on the cellar? Are they closer or more distant to the door, or is there any decoration that could make that could tell them apart.
To know wheter the thief grabbed a target of oportunity that is obviously more valuable or easier to swipe, or if they knew what to look for.
>Which of one of your collegues were the ones that weren't normally supposed be on that shift? I need names, a description and to know if any of them are here today too or if they been acting odd.
New targets to stalk
>Did your boss gave any warning about what would happened, or said anything on why there were so many people?
To know if he knew about it
>Was there a table or group that was bigger than the rest, that had a member spending way more than usual, or that was suposed to get special treatment?
Just in case there was a VIP.

That's all I can think of, I don't believe that the boss is really in on the conspiracy, because if he gave the bottle aways he wouldn't really need to complain about them missing, unless he is playing 4d chess and trying to create an alibi. But I think he might recognise us, atleast by reputation/rumour, since Xin is bigger than the average rabbit, is know as a big card player among bars, and Renshu's restaurant big opening should have brought attention to everyone on the food and drinks industry, even if they are not a direct competitor. Right now our cover is of a investigator, and the guards wouldn't put a family member on the case, unless we try to pass of as an private investigator, but I doubt such a thing exist in acnient furry china. Although they have a form of the scientific method, so maybe there is.

I think we already had this converstion before.
But I'm still of the idea TL could eventually be open to teaching others the whole of kung fu, specially after his experiences here in the Library. But I guess he would be more open to only fully teach a small group that he can guide.
It would probably end up mirroing Oogway in a way, he goes to settle down on a moutain, end up attracting one or two headstrong people that really want to learn, and next thing he knows there's a bunch of his ex-students teaching others and a small town in the base of the mountain.

"Was there anything weird going on after the day of the theft? Anyone not showing up like they used to or customers have been a bit more down suddenly throwing parties?"

"Nope. Things kind of went back to normal after that...well the boss did instal more locks on the door and now we need to write down our names and what bottles we take out. The boss compares it to yesterday's inventory to make sure it's consistent." She gives you a pout that you assume is meant to elicit pity. "It's really annoying." You ignore her look.

"So who was on shift that wasn't supposed to be that day?" You press.

"I dunno..." The waitress plays dumb. "There were so many people."

"Don't lie to me." You say brusquely. "You know." The waitress pouts at you, upset at the accusation. Again, Ming does it better.

"Dache, Norbu, Chime, and Ema." She grumbles. "They were stealing my tips all night. It's not fair."

"Did your boss gave any warning about what would happened, or said anything on why there were so many people?"

"No...I don't know. He wasn't in that night. I think he was doing whatever he does when he decides not to come in." The woman replies curtly.

"These special bottles out of the owner's stash, that are different from the regular ones that are sold, are they put on a separate place tham the regular onea on the cellar? Are they closer or more distant to the door, or is there any decoration that could make that could tell them apart." You ask. The woman seems to tug at her hair a bit more.

"Why do you want to know? Whats these kinds of questions?" She demands. "I think it's kind of weird you're so interested in this stuff. We already reported all this to the guards and you're making me lose my shift. I need to get back to work. Some of us actually need to earn a living." You supress the urge to raise an eyebrow at that remark. Maybe you were on to something, or maybe you were simply just annoying the woman now that she figured out she couldn't use her looks to win you over.

"Listen, all I do is grab the bottles in the back with the numbers on them and not touch the bottles with the blank labels on the side. "Oh don't worry, I will be." You say. "Now, if you can continue to answer my questions, we can finally get this over with. How often does your boss get drinks from his own stash? Does he do it often?"

"No. He only gets it for special occasions. Usually holidays or when he wants to show off."

"So I'm guessing he hasn't been in the wine storage recently. Anyone important show up that might make him want to grab a drink? Maybe he brought them down to show off his collection?"

"Not that I know of. Only other time he pulls from that stash is during the big meet up with the other buisnesses." The woman says shrugging. "But that's not for another week or so."

"Other than the waiters, does anyone else have permission or access to the drinks?" You ask.

"Just the bartenders but they're not allowed to really go down there unless absolutely necessary. They always have a bottle or two behind the counter to serve the smaller sizes. They almost never run out of that stuff before the night is over. The boss made sure of that with how many poeple he lets inside. Plus the reservation list gives us an idea of how much to pull out." "Thank you for your cooperation. I'll let you go now." You say as you do your best to keep the annoyance out of your voice. You turn to the two cooks. "Is the owner in? I want to speak with him."

"Yes but his office is through the main dining area. I'm afraid we can't let you in there." The cook says. "I'm sorry but we could lose our jobs if we do." You tug at one of your ears.

"But this is a rather important investigation, I really do need to speak to the owner for more information." You insist. The two cooks nod.

"I know but...maybe you can ask your friends at the guard to send a message. Or maybe you can ask at the front if they'll let you in. We don't have permission to do that. In fact, we're already kind of at risk of getting in trouble for even letting you into the kitchen."

"Then I guess going through to inspect the cellar is a no go as well." You say. The cooks only nod. You frown. You really did need to inspect that cellar and talk to the owner though it looks like you hit a dead end right now. Of course, giving up at this point wouldn't do you any good. "Alright. I guess I'll come back when I have permission." You say. "You two have a good night and keep an eye out." You quickly turn and leave the two cooks to get back to work. You turn the corner and quickly leap onto the building next to you when you're out of eyesight. Going from roof to roof, you quietly leap onto the resteraunt and scope out your target. You could just go home but just thinking about Renshu, bloody lip and all, made your chest hurt. Rather than a sharp pang, it was a burning inferno of rage. You wanted answers or at the very least a good clue to go on.

You jump around from building to building as you continue your search for entry points. Permission was never something you needed to begin with and certainly not something that would hold you back. The building only had one floor though you were hoping for a second as an entry point. With several windows all around, you could easily break in though you'd be seen by customers. You think for a moment. The last hidden cellar had a direct entrance to it. Perhaps this building also had one as well to move things in and out of it without disturbing the dining area.

There was also a fire place and that meant a chimney. However, given that it was currently in use, you'd have to wait until closing. Another round of casing and you find what you think is the owner's office. It's windows are much smaller than the rest of the building but you think you can slip in through them, though there is a faint glow behind them and you're not sure if anyone is it right now.

You know the cellar is near the bar, most bars are in the back of the building and so is the small office window. Perhaps, there is a small hallway or the like where all the doors are close to one another. It could be possible to slip into the owner's office and from there into the cellar without being seen, assuming no one was in there right now.

>What do you want to do?
>Try to slip in through the front and blend into the customers. Shouldn't be too hard though getting access to the cellar might prove difficult.

I want to find out about those bottles in the cellar since the waiter only hesitated when it come them, and didn't really answer the question. I also want to find out more about these parties between business owners.
Next we need to diacover what happened that day, if there was some vip or something. I think there's a big chance that some rival restaurant started this whole thing to try and ruin the Warren.
He would know the owner of Dragon's Peak, and could know how to get an extra bottle or something.
I want to avoid talking directly to the boss, because even if he isn't in on the conspiracy, he could talk about us to this person I think is behind it all, and they would know that Xin is connected to Renshu instead of the guard.
But those are just my theories and shadowruns, I'm probably being too paranoid.

You wait. You were angry, upset, but that didn't give you reason to mess up your plans. You needed to exercise patience and wait for everyone to leave. So you sit down on a nearby roof and do nothing at all. You weren't sure how the big guy could meditate all day long or even at a moment's notice. You could do it just as easily but you never really go anything out of it. However, what you could do that the big man couldn't was simply sit down and do absolutely nothing.

You don't move, you don't think, you just watch time go by. You were like a statue, immobile and unconcered to the world around it. You probably looked like one to anyone who could have caught you, but that was the thing, most people never would. People tended to only pay attention to moving objects. Such objects demanded attention because it could be a threat but a wall? A well? Something that never move could never be a threat and so it was instinctively ignored. The same principle applied to your training. Become the background and invisiblity was pointless. What good is smoke bombs, flashbangs, or hiding holes when simply staying absolutely still would accomplish the same thing.

Most people simply didn't have the patience to do that and those that did didn't have the talent to maintain their stillness for long. The mind would wander, their body's basic instinctive functions would kick in and the person would move or do something to attract attention. But not you, you were bred for this, you were trained for this. With no emotions, you had no reason to fear or to do anything but what was necessary. And so you remained still and focused. The world around you moved on, people left the building and more entered for a few more hours, the anger within your dies as you smother it, replacing it with cold focus and the world seems do dull in color and life as you...

Prepared for your mission. Possible witnesses have all exited the building and employees have fortified the location before their exit. You stand up as your uncaring eyes sweep over the block. No guards or sentries patrolling the target perimeter. You extimate their patrols will loop back to this area within 2 hours. So you get to work. You swipe a few hanging rags from some clotheslines and tie them around your feet and hands. The chimney will be coverd in ash and soot. It is imperative that you don't leave any traces of your inflitration lest it be traced back to you and your collaborators.
>>
You remove the rest of your clothes and leave your makeshift shoes and gloves on before leaping off the neighboring roof. In one fluid motion you flip and straighten out to slip in feet first into the chimney. You slide down the length of the chimney and hold out your hands and feet to slow your descent to prevent scattering the remaining ashes at the foot of the fireplace. The opening widens at the bottem and you ease yourself onto the remains of the firewood. Even through your feet coverings, you can feel the warmth of the embers beneath you. You quietly remove your gloves, handstand, and use your toes to remove your "shoes". Your fur was now blackened and grey but ultimately this was in accordance to your plan. Should anyone catch you, they will be unable to identify you. At best they will think a dark furred person broke on. At worse, all they would know is that there is a rabbit who broke in.

You look around the dining area, all the tables had their coverings removed and had their chairs stacked on them. The bar in the back was now empty, it's bottles safely locked away presumably under the counter or perhaps in the same cellar as the wine. Kegs and barrels of drink have their taps corked with cloth wrapped around them to prevent dripping. All around a professional establishment. You looks around for your main objective and find a two doors behind the bar. A quick tap on both doors reveals that one echos implying that it has a large hollow area behind it. The cellar. As expected the door is locked.

>How do you proceed?
>Pick the lock. You must minimize your time in here and manipulation of objects.
>Look for keys. Picking the locks can leave traces of the attempt. Scratch marks or jammed tumblers. Things most people don't notice on old locks and doors.

You're unsure why your fur grows like so on both you and your sibling but it serves to hide small objects as he taught you long ago. You remove the small circular bit of metal that held the first bit in place and snap it on with a soft click. Then you reach behind you and pull another thin bit of metal and ring from your cottontail and assmebling that with your first peice. With another soft click, your lockpicking set was complete.

You gently pull out a pick and slide into the keyhole before slipping in the thin torsion wrench to use as leverage. Careful to not have the wrench scrap across the doorknob you quickly pick the lock and a few seconds later, there is a third click and the door comes free of the frame. Disassembling your lockpicking set would take too much time, it was more efficient for you to simply hold it in your mouth and go inside.

Despite the darkness, you can make your way through the cellar fairly easy. Years of training in the night and living in places with absolutely no light have taught you to make the most of what little moonlight that seeps in. You look around, it was as the employees of the establishment had described. Sets of wine bottles on their racks lined the back wall and the wall on the side. You make your way over to the racks on the side of the wall, the closest one to the door at the very least, and lift a bottle up to examine it. You hold the object by the cork, one of the few places where one would not look for prints, and lift straight up so as to not turn it aside or move it from it's origional position. The label matches everything that you know so far. It's blank save for the name of the spirit and the establishment and bears no indication of the day and year of make though upon closer inspection, you can see that the racks themselves have a small label on each row denoting this information. You presume it's to keep track of the year but to still be able to present a clean bottle. Your mind runs a small simulation of the owner of this building presumptuously holding this bottle for his guests and claiming it to be a special batch. So special it does not require a date unlike the ones the masses get. You gently set the bottle back down and quickly count the bottles on the racks.
>>
Your counts reveal that there are 3 bottles missing though only one is from the top most rack, the oldest bottles, and the rest are from the bottom. However, you're unsure if the latter 2 are simply because that rack has not been filled, had been used in a prior gathering, or was also stolen. If you had access to the inventory ledger then you could figure it out but for now, all you can do is examine the other bottles. This rack is haphazardly filled, with various sets of racks only containing a few bottles with others being completely filled. These bottles also matched the description given. The labels are numbered with the year of make as to give the consumer a sense of sophistication by choosing what is considered to be "a good year". You remember your sibling explaining that while wine does age and the age will affect it's taste and maturity, most people are completely unable to tell and as such, most attempts to cater to this is based on image alone. No doubt these bottles are organized this way simply because customers choose what they think is a good brand rather than the establishment simply serving the bottles in order. While this practice is a sound financial move, it made it rather difficult to know if any of these bottles were stolen as well. You look around the cellar for other clues.

Aside from the wines, you also see other drinks and spirits being stored here. Mostly reserves in case the drinks in the bar run out, you also see a few more expensive drinks being held here even if they were half empty. Besides this, you also see various preserved foods and fruits held here rather than in the kitchen.

Take a quick look for any sign of hasty footprints or lickpicking that is not our own, just in case tge owner or the guards didn't notice.
Than head ro the office, and try to find some ledgers. Inventory, clientelle, sales, contact, even a diary could work, we need to find out what happened that day that was full, about these business owner meetings and about the Dragon's nest owner. Be sure to read them with another rag to not spread soot and ash on them.

>But as a small sidenote, perhaps analyse our focus. See if we still feel or can summon our irritation
I can answer that, mostly because exposition is hard to fit in sometimes. Xin can't feel his emotions at all in this state. Basically as they were in the beginning. They can go back to feeling things again but he can't do both at once. Its like a switch, one or the other.

It's now less of a habit or inablity but more of a style on it's own. By dropping their emotions, they can do everything to their maximum potential, unhindered by emotions, morals, or hesitations and doubts. That's not to say that everything they learned goes out the window. Xin knows what the group allows and doesn't allow but rather than being moral boundries, they're now just mission parameters. TL doesn't want people killed, so then mission now includes a no fatality rate. However Xin will quickly drop this and kill without hesitation if they deem the mission's success to be greater than staying within the rules set for them.

In a nutshell, it's his form of "I need to get something done and I can't let my emotions/pride/ect get in the way." So she shuts them off. It's one of the reasons why Xin is important to your new style which I should explain my thought process on that at risk of influencing how anons choose to work on it.

From Ming you can learn compassion, true compassion. How to sympathize and feel the pain of others. How to fight without feeling malice. Basically her philosophy.

From Xin, you can learn how to set aside your own feelings. How to fight without letting emotions cloud your judgement and how to better control them when things get heated.

From Renshu, you learn the power of love You learn self sacrifice. Being able to put what you want, your own safety, aside and put the needs of everyone else above your own. You've done this many times of course, and that goes back to why the two of you are so close and all the spirit stuff but his style, brutality aside, is also a very strong foundation for what you want to attempt to do. A purely defensive one.

Learning this however, means you have to truly learn about your friends. Beyond just being knowing who they are and what they're like. You have to take their philosophies and make them your own. That's quite hard to do. Hence why it's taking 20 weeks to learn this...at minimum. (Of course inflated for how much of a workload you have.)

>>5009208
Damn.

First off, good on Xin. Their shit is now *theirs* to own and control, and that is good.

Second off, Dead excited for this style. I feel like we will still have a use for Dragon style and all of our others, but Benevolent style will likely displace it as our default.

You kneel and begin to search the floor around the cellar looking for clues. There were footsteps everywhere and it would be impossible to tell who's were who's. Not surprising given how often waiters and bartenders would come down here. You head back up and give a quick glance at the doorknob and lock. It was a very old lock, worn but sturdy. You can see various scratches and nicks along the keyhole but nothing that would indicate it being picked. They were too thin and worked their way into the keyhole rather than the wide scuffs and nicks along the circumfrence of the lock that dragging the tension wrench would cause. From what you can tell, these scratches were made simply by employees just trying to get the key into the lock. Peering at the scratches however...it appears that the scratches are fairly new, at least comparitively.

You slide a claw into one of the scratches. Definitely had to be a scratch from the key but despite their worn look, at least compared to the age of the door itself, they were fairly new. You'd hazard they'd be a few months old at the latest. Defintely not within the time frame of the theft. That only left the possibility that the theif had access to the keys or had simply walked in while the door was unlocked. You needed more intel before you could make a suitable report for the others. That meant it was time to look for the owner's office. A quick pick of the lock and you open the other door that reveals a small break room. It was nothing lavish or even well maintained. A single table sat in the center with a few cups on it. Chairs were set her and there but definitely were not enough for a full staff. The only thing that stood out was a small set of cupboards with basic locks that served as the employee's storage area. These locks were basic but servicable though they wouldn't withstand any real lockpicking attempt if the person had any knowledge of the art. You ignore the room for now and head to the door in the back. Another quick pick and you find yourself in the owner's office. It was much simpler than you had expected with only a basic desk, a safe underneathe it, and several other office supplies. Judging by the look of it, you can safely assume that the owner didn't really like being here and only used the office for buisness purposes.
>>
You begin to pick your way through the room, examining every drawer and paper. You extract a large scroll from the safe after you spend a moment to get it open. Most of it was useless information to you but you quickly find the writings for the last few months and give them a read. It was basic inventorying and money management. None of the clients names stick out to you and none of them match the current suspects. Was this whole thing off the record? You continue to read on and you hit something. A list of the current inventory of wines that were in the cellar. You spend a few minutes memorizing it before you close the scroll and put it back in it's place. A quick jog back to the cellar and some cursory examination shows you that there are too many bottles. You quickly run through the list again and again, there are too many bottles. You lift of the bottles and it rockets out of it's rack. Too light. You quickly turn the bottle around and see the label has a date on it. Quickly putting it back, you pull another. Same thing. Another, dated label. Another, too light but blank label.

You bring the bottle closer and shake it. It was half empty and upon examining the cork, you see that it's been popped off. Placing the bottle back you go to the bottles for the customers. This rack was in perfect concordance with the ledger. A thought crosses your mind and you grab one of the dated bottles from the private stock. Just as you suspected, the filler bottles on the private stock were the bottles that were sold to the customers and were missing from the customer's rack. You examine the rest of the private stock. Some of them were half empty, others were only partially empty. Slowly things were coming together. You return your findings back to their spots and you head back to the employee break room. You grab one of the cups and give it a quick sniff. Regular juice...with a hint of wine in them.

>What do you do?
>Write in.

So someone has been taking wine from the bottles, draining a small bit, then putting them back.
One of the staff. So that means one of the staff, or the friends they invited over, are the person who supplied our man Pema.

Basically this.
We now some people that were that day, see if the staff rotation matches what Diki said about Dache, Norbu, Chime, and Ema being the extra ones on that day.
Also note down or memorize the names of the clients, or if that businnes owner meeting is scheduled any down now. It's bot because it doesn't seem relevant now that it won't be later.

You set the cup back down and search for some kind of schedule. You find a makeshift calander pinned to a wall nearby. It was more of sheets of paper with the days written in and adusted so names and other details would fit. Littered on it were names, times, and various other details regarding work schedules. Seems like several of the staff actually rotate roles around, from bartenders to waiters to bus boys. You flip through a few previous months and notice something else. The current month's schedule was written in a different hand writing than the rest of the sheets of papers. Furthermore, each previous month was signed and comparing the handwritings, the older months were written and signed by the owner as it matched the ledger but the current month wasn't.

You study the calander a bit more but can only see that the pin was holding a bit of torn paper on it though it's nothing you can use. Simply the remnants of a page being pulled off and caught between the pin and the wall. There's not much more you can really do with this information beyond just memorizing the names on the current month's schedule as you can't really tell who was supposed to be there and who wasn't other than the names you were given. However, you can clearly see the day where everyone was packed into a single shift. If you could laugh, you'd realize how comical it was to see so many days crammed into one day. Nevertheless, you step back into the dining area and make your way towards the chimney. You slip back into the hole and as you climb the long tunnel, you strike a match and drop it below you. The rags and cloth you had stolen to prevent your prints from showing up as you climbed down ignite and you make it the rest of the way out as the only evidence of your entrance is destroyed. Tomorrow, people will assume that some embers were still left alight the night before and perhaps there will be some reprimand over making sure all fires are fully put out but they'll be none the wiser to your actions.
>>
You climb out of the chimney sweaty, soot covered, and tired. You sit at the edge of the chimney as you ease up a bit and look over the city. You had a few leads but for now...a nice bath and...no the big guy's chest could wait. You had a few more things you needed to check out before you could tuck into the night. You leap off of your seat, grab your clothing and vanish into the night...

---

You are, thankfully, not Tai Lung's back even if you are the man himself. You roll your neck and one of your shoulders. Despite your best efforts, it seems you might have slipped your posture slightly while sleeping. You begin to wonder if Renshu could help you with another back rub but the thought makes your stomach sink slightly as you remember your brief conversation last night before he went to sleep. Suddenly, being in his room felt even more invasive and awkward, despite the fact you were alone. When you had woken up, the room was empty and Renshu's bed was made. No doubt that when you go down stairs you'd find him preparing for another day of work. A quick glance out the window shows you it's still very early in the morning. Only a few handful of people are up and about and most of them are vendors setting up stalls and stores. You sigh, stand up and decide to get your day started.

You figure that you best go speak to Renshu and offer some help. You didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone, an odd feeling considering what the man could do but he had said he wanted to live as a normal person and that mean he would be vulnerable. You try to work the pinch in your back out to not avail and you decide to employ the ancient Kung Fu art of simply ignoring it. As you approach the stairs to the kitchen, the sounds of sizzling and the smell of cooking food fill your senses.

The air in the kitchen was...awkward to say the least. Renshu was busying himself with cooking as you had guessed, his hands moving faster than the average eye could see and slicing the various ingredients he needed for his dishes. All around him in varous counters were small piles of veggies and other ingredients ready to be cooked at the different times required. However, it was as if all the energy was sucked out of the room. Unlike the first time you were here, where there was an eager and hopeful, now Renshu seemed to be going through the motions with his body simply doing things by rote. "Good Morning." The rabbit says before you place your foot down on the last step. His voice was calm and polite but there was a reserved quality hidden in it. Not curt nor cold but rather wary and anxious.

"Morning." You say, unsure of how to proceed. "Did...you have a good night's rest?" You ask before wincing internally.

"I did." Renshu replies and as if to save you from your own floundering adds, "The nights have been getting warmer. I'm guessing summer is coming upon us or at least, what ever approximation of summer there is here. I've almost risked sleeping with a single blanket." He says in an attempt to joke but it felt hollow and you rub your arm. There really wasn't much to get around it but still you try to avoid the topic.

"Maybe we can see what summer festivals they have here. I doubt they can celebrate annual dragon boat races." You say as you also attempt a joke. Renshu merely nods. It wasn't like he was being rude but rather he was trying to hide his shame and embarassment of the previous night. A realization that makes you feel slightly worse when you figure that if it hadn't been for the link between you two, you probably would have never picked up on it. You cough and quickly add, "I was thinking of sticking around here. To help. Seems like you could use an extra pair of hands out front. I've never worked in a diner before but I think I could handle taking orders."
>>
Renshu pauses and seems to think of something before starting up again. "I'd appreciate it." He replies with a nod. The two of you stand there in silence and the atmosphere seems to bear down around the two of you, as if trying to squeeze an apology out of you or, perhaps worse, squeeze you out of the kitchen to avoid it. When it seems you can bear it no longer, Renshu sighs in frustration, stabs his knife in his cutting board and turns to face you as you speak.

"Renshu I'm sorry-"
"Listen, Tau Lung I apologize-"

The two of you stand there in confusion and wait for the other to speak but when neither of you do, you both speak again.

"I just want to apologize for last night-"
"I shouldn't have pushed you like I did-"

You both cover your eyes in embarassment and Renshu waves at you to speak first. "I'm sorry." You begin immediately. "I...I didn't mean for things to get awkward last night. I should have been up front I just...I get flustered around you. I don't know why. But I do want to say thank you for being patient with me in that regard."

Renshu crosses his arms and looks away. "I know." He says ashamed. "Perhaps I shouldn't have been so eager when you did come with me. Not to mention I did cross a line with those jokes didn't I?"

"I'll be honest, it's not different or worse than what Xin does." You say. "Not that my reaction is any different then."

"I guess I got excited that you took me up for my offer. It never occured to me that you'd have followed for other reasons." Renshu says as he turns around to cook again. "I thought...I don't know. That maybe you wanted to try something. I'm doing my best to respect your space and go at your pace but I don't want to push you away. I'm doing my best to balance my wants and desires with your needs and comfort. I know what happens when people move to fast or aren't considerate of their partners. So when you agreed...I thought you wanted to finally give this a try."

"I did promise didn't I?" You say sheepishly.

"You did mention something like that, yes." Renshu jokes weakly. "But I will be honest...we've not done anything at all. Given how busy you are, it's no surprise such a thing took a back seat to your work but I suppose absence makes the heart grow fonder."

You frown, unsure how to refute that. "How...long would you be willing to wait?" You ask.

"I think Xin Lan said it best." Renshu replies. "I'm a hopeless romantic. So, forever. All I ask is that we try...actually try."

>What do you say?
>Say that you're not sure what to do. You've never been with anyone before and because of that you don't know how to move past what your comfortable with. You don't know why but Renshu is different. He makes you hesistate, second guess yourself even if he makes you happy at the same time.

Write it as Xin coming back, and we having a meeting discusing what we learned. You can skip what Xin learned, or jump ahead to the end of their report if you don't want a recap.
Also, did this option of what do count for the whole week, or just what we are doing right now in the morning? I want to try to advance one more time before trying to create that new style.
Shame we wasted so much time at tge beggining trying to meditate on love, and that we took up so many side projects, it made it impossible to reach maximum rank.
Should we spend any remaining time on a last effort to convince the gators? We should have around 4 weeks left, so it's one more attempt. It's definitaly some kind of sunk cost fallacy, but we akready spent 8 weeks on them, it would be a shame to just leave it as it is.

It was mostly being bogged down by trying to do everything that's weighing you down. You wanted to do classes (two of them), change the twin's minds, make a new style, studying 2 or 3 different and very indepth subjects in ways that have never been studied before. You stretched yourself pretty thin. Although 31 weeks is 7 months so I feel like you got some time left.

>>5011248
>we gone on dates and we have even fallen asleep on our arms
Might just be me trying to keep track of a bunch of irl stuff and pulling plots towards one another within the game but did this ever happen? I do remember I said you talked and spent time together in the background but nothing more than you already did in the beginning.

If you had been doing dates and the like in the background then I wouldn't written half the pasta dropping shenangins or even half the chats on this I already have but I've been writing under the impression of your schedule only allowing a few morning chats but it seems like you're voting under the impression that they've been doing more. Though it's less of waiting for anons to vote on that stuff and more of I've got like 5 known things you have going on and a couple other stuff in game that I'm keeping track of. Luckily stuff is settling and moving forward.

>Also, did this option of what do count for the whole week
No, just letting you know how much time you had left. Memorizing the ancient texts and asking Oogway to translate took a week. If you want you can go ask Monke about the spirit stuff right now.
>>
>>5011296
I do need to apologise if I come off as flippant or anything other than curiously confused. I'm really tired and I feel like I'm holding the game together at the seams atm the moment. Plus I got a big shift coming up.
>>
>>5011296
It was the background stuff that happened during the mornings, I remember because I asked if it would eat up our time and you said it wouldn't. If going picknicking in the sunrise, and having him snooze on our arms and TL being embarassed and saying it was nice doesn't count, than I don't know what would honestly.
And honestly, if we would need to dedicate even more time on top of the 4 or 5 months of self discovered and the extra timetable for cute stuff, than it's better to drop this relationship altogether, Renshu is too high maintance.
About the 7 months, it's because we are going to spend atleast 20 weeks on the style, so that leaves 11. Advancing would take around 4-5 by going like last time, so that leaves 6-7, and trying to deals with the gators would take 4 more, leaving us with 2 or 3 to solve any loose ends.
And I understand about why we are strectched thin, no complaining about that boss.
About the monke, that's good, we should go talk to him after this morning stuff and get it out of the way, specially since it's not supposed to take any time anyway.
>>5011310

>tfw our unconsious unease gave us a hallucinogenic dream sequence and we woke up convinced someone hated us.

Mum used to have that, telling Dad to apologise for leaving her for a supermodel in her dream.
Would be funny, but sorta iffy.

And >>5011329
It only takes 5 weeks to develop the style. We just need to put our side tasks on hold while we do.
>>
>>5011549
It's 20 without the debuffs, 40 with them.
Here is the link >>5009208.
It was also talked about last thread.
>>
>>5011561
No mate, you got that wrong.

"Which is why it's taking 20 weeks at minimum to learn this."
then the important part
>[Of course inflated [read made bigger] due to the workload you have]

which means if we lighten the workload, the number of weeks go down. and each class/trial doubles how long it takes to learn. so if we ignore everything and focus on it, 20 becomes 5.
>>
Oh and >>5010840
This is for Ming

>>5003300
>>
>>5011561
>>5011603
Both incorrect. It's 10 weeks. 20 because everything takes twice as long due to all your stuff and 15 if you were only handling one thing.
>>
>>5011603
>>5011603
Just did a quick control-f last threads and you are right that is 20 with the workload.
But turns out you are wrong about tgiw much it increases, the twice is with Bao and the school together, so it would drop to 10 weeks.
Anyway, that should be enough rime to sneak in atleast one more promotion if we can convince the gators next attempt (if we even try it).
>>5011349
Also did a quick look on the little morning things, so far what I found is that we have cuddled with the bunny, had a massage, watched tge sunset, and had him sleep on our arms crying.
We now also had our tea lesson, a few talks and slept on the same room as him. That seems kind of very intimate alreafy for such a short relationship, speciality since he spent a bit more than a month away from the city.
I may have missed other little bit, I just skimmed a few posts.
>>
>>5011621
And you are right about the Ming routine

>>5011648
Well shit. It's bad enough thought I was ruining one character but now I'm doing it to two. Fuck...now I gotta figure things out. But first I need dinner. Bad day all around lads.
>>
>>5011653
Hey boss, no character ruined here, just a natural drift.
We can fluff Renshu's clinginess as the difficulty of the accepting the blackmail relationship, meanwhile the other path was to be depressed.
And TL has been consistent on his characterization of being confused and prudish, yet still trying.
>>
>>5011648
Huh, could have swore the workload doubled the time it took to do things.
But my sorryness.

Anyway, Chi strikes can be done with the tail, we did it in the fight with He Ling, so there's precedent.

>>5011653
Calm down man. Calm down, breath. You haven't ruined anything, we just forgot things.
seriously man, just chill and stop beating yourself up about this. It's not going to make the situation any better.

got this nagging chest pain though. I dunno if it's from the heaving and puking but it's quite annoying.
>>
>>5012381
If you spent an entire day puking, than it's normal to feel abdominal pain later, because muscles that normally don't exercise that much had to do a marathon.
Also the stomach can hurt the esophagus, even if the mucus isn't completly gone.

>>
>>5011652
I forgot to reply to this. Sangpo has no style. He's a staunch pacifist actually. Maybe something you can speak to him about.
>>
>>5012407
Pehaps another person to learn from so we can add to the benevolent style?
>>
>>5012409
Sure but it goes without saying that it will add to your time. Especially considering how reclusive the old man is. Then again, aren't old people the best kung fu teachers?
>>
>>5012419
This feels like profiling.

Anyway, get the basic style adopted first. Then we can work on refining it later with Sang Po
>>
>>5012450
Yes, refining with him only after we get it off the ground first is a good idea.
Maybe we can do it in the hiperbolic time chamber and learn from Bao and Oogway as well.
In the future, when Kai gets back from his trials, we can learn from him to add redepention as well, maybe TL can learn from the others master when he settles down too, if we ever have a time skip for example.
>>
You place a hand on Renshu's shoulder. "I'm sorry." You say. "I've never been with anyone before and I'm not really sure what to do. You're...different. You make me hesistate, second guess myself even if you make me happy at the same time." You give them a soft smile. "But maybe that's what love it. However...what's this really about Renshu? This is unlike you. You know we've been spending time together and you're not one to quickly forget about that. I'll be honest, it seems like you're trying a bit too hard. What's going on?" You ask. Renshu folds his ears back.

"I don't...know." He admits quietly as he rubs his arm. "I've never lied to you about my feelings for you but I can't help but feel anxious. I'm afraid."

"Of what?" You ask gently.

"Of losing you. Here I am, exactly where I want to be, dating the man I love with him doing his best to push past his own anxieties and I can't help but feel guilty. Did I force you into this? Do you really love me or is it because you felt obligated to be with me?" The large rabbit turns away and looks out the window.

"I made the decision on my own." You say. "While I wanted to help you when you were hurt, and I admit that part of me wanted to say yes in the beginning because I knew it would make you happy, I didn't want to do that and lie to you and I didn't want you to love me because of what I did for you. If you love me, then I wanted you to do that because that's what you really believed." Renshu rubs his face in anxiety.

"Then why do I keep asking you to prove it?" He asks. "I can see it clear as day that you do. Why am I afraid that you'll leave? I feel vunlerable around you and... I enjoy that. I feel like I can drop my guard and that you keep me safe."

You gently pet Renshu's head. "You've been abandoned all your life by people you felt should have been there for you. Your father, your mother, even Xin turned against you to get away from that life. It was a horrible past and neither of you are to blame for it but I can understand why you fear rejection and why you're constantly seeking confirmation that someone does indeed love you. I do, we all do. As family and possibly as more than that. However, I will be upfront with you that it does get tiring to try and prove myself to you. I'm doing my best so I'm asking you to do the same. Work through your hang ups and try to not just let me be the one doing the same. If you can't...then I'm afraid we can't be together. No matter how much we feel for each other."
>>
Renshu flinches at that shuts his eyes as he nods. "No...no, you're right. I've been selfish and a fool. I promised you that I would become someone worth having a relationship with and yet again I'm floundering like a child." He clenches his fists. "I...I would appreciate it if you gave this a bit more time. No second chances after this." He says. "I need...to be responsible for my actions. I've spent my life helping people through this and I'm being a hypocrite. If can't be good enough for you and I can't even do the basic thing and work to better myself, then I don't deserve you. You deserve better."

"I believe in you." You say. "Whether or not this ends up becoming something more, I believe that you'll be a better man than you were before." Renshu throws his arms around you and holds you tight. You hug the rabbit and the two of you stay there for a moment before an acrid smell fills your nose. Looking up from Renshu's ears you see smoke billowing out from one of the pots. Seems like once again, you managed to destroy some food.

---

You leave Renshu to salvage the day's food as you sheepishly prep the dining area. As you are doing so, you feel something heavy drop on your shoulders and a pair of rabbit feet appear in the corner of your vision. "Hey there big guy." Xin Lan says as they wiggle their toes. "Night." They finish as they rest their cheek on your head and promptly fall asleep. You shake your head in amusement before you continue your work, confident that Xin Lan would somehow manage to stay on your shoulders. Finally, you and Renshu open the diner for buisness to a small crowd outside once more. It seems they were either curious of past events or repeat customers. You spend most of the day running around, taking orders and delivering food to tables. Luckily they were easily organized and you have no trouble keeping up with the rush.

"Hey boss!" You hear someone say as you approach a now filled table. It's your students, the ones who got arrested. They give you a tired smile but they seem no worse for wear. "Uhh...bad time? I figured the owner wouldn't like you sleeping around with your coworkers." He snickers as he points to Xin Lan, still on your head.

You chuckle and pull out a small note pad. "What can I get for you? You guys doing alright?"
>>
"We're fine." Another one of your students says. "We had to be held for the night for our own safety but they couldn't really charge us for anything. It was self defense after all. All we got was a lecture about being careful when in a dangerous situation and to not use excessive force. You know, the ussual guard stuff."

"Not like it makes a difference." The third student laughs. "When we were kids, we were constantly getting into fist fights. Feels kind of good to actually put it to good use. I could get used to this hero stuff." He chuckles.

>What do you say?
>Remind your students about no looking for trouble. Your lessons are for protections not vigilantism.

You chuckle yourself and motion at your notepad to remind them that you were on the clock as you say, "Give it a bit more time and you'll end up coming after me. However, you know I need to repeat myself. Don't do good to be a hero, do good for it's own sake. I'm proud of you for doing the right thing, even if I am a bit biased on who it was. Still, I'm proud nonetheless. Just don't go looking for trouble."

"I'll have one of those sandwiches with the plum jam." One of your students says as they skim the menu. "Oh and is the chef serving that nice sweet tea this week?"

"No, he's serving a cherry juice. It's pretty good." You reply as you jot down the order.

"Ah...I'll have that. Renshu's cooking hasn't let me down yet." Your student says as he places the menu down. "And don't worry about me boss, I've gotten enough trouble as a kid to know when I'm not supposed to stick my nose into things. How's...erm the husband?" He asks a bit awkwardly.

"Doing fine." You reply. "A split lip and cut cheek but it could have been worse if it wasn't for you guys. Speaking of wellbeing, how was your time in jail? The guard's weren't too rough with you? Hopefully better than mine, being chained down by boulders is a bit uncomfortable. Especially after a few decades." You jokes to lighten the mood. Your students laugh but look rather consipartorial.

"I'll just have the soup of the day." Another student says. "And I'll just have a water."

"Cheapskate." The third snorts. The second student glares at them but looks around before whispering.

"Jail was fine master, but we were held in a cell right across from the guys who attacked your guy friend. They were saying some weird stuff. Like, they expected more people to be there and that they knew the others couldn't handle that kind of drink." The second student says as they cross their arms. "Honestly, it sounds like we got lucky."
>>
The third student nods. "Just a salad." They say outloud. "We didn't get much info from the guards either. We know a few of them. As far as we could tell, most of the guards just think it's a bunch of drunks who got the wrong idea and thought a stranger was sleeping with their wives and want to be done with it. These kinds of cases are always messy. It's hard to convince someone to think that their wife isn't sleeping around especially when they're drunk and it's not like there's much to look into. They committed a crime but it's nothing worse than two people getting real mad and fighting on the spot. At least according to the books. If they do something like this again then that's another story. Can't really blame the guards though can we?"

You nod. It was hard enough to deal with a drunk as is and even harder to deal with people having trust issues. Even in your brief stint as a guard, you could easily see how guards quickly became tired of having to deal with beligerent alcoholics on a nightly basis. "Well let's hope that this is the end of all this. Renshu just wants to have a normal life and honestly, I think I'd rather deal with competeing against the other eateries than drunks attacking the place." You half lie. You didn't want to tell your students that you were investigating this and undermine your lessons. You finish taking their order and give them a polite nod, Xin Lan still managing to not fall off as they snooze. "Remember, No looking for trouble!" You call out once more as you go around to finish getting your orders. The rest of the day plays out the same, with you helping around the diner and getting orders, you never imagined yourself doing something like this before. Had you been asked to do this in your younger years you probably would have deemed it beneathe you. A job for lesser men. Now, you find that there is some kind of peace to doing this. No having to worry about fights or danger with the comforting monotany that helps your mind focus on other things. Eventually the lunch rush dies down and you have to pull yourself away from work to get ready to teach your lessons. However, Xin Lan is still fast asleep though you wouldn't be surprised if they had been pretending the whole time. Part of you wonders what they discovered in their hunt.

>What do you do?
>Wake Xin up. They have to help you teach the class and you want to know what they found out.

Well, we can do that a bit later, we still have time to rank up once or twice, deal with the gators, talk with the monke and show Bao our crimes against humanity inprovements in cooking, hopefully by than our more advanced students can start teaching others, we did try to make it self-sufficient and communitary focused afterall.
Maybe it can even serve as a test if it would survive without us, since we are going to have to leave the city anyway.
>>
>>5013232
Fits fine.

And I'd prefer to get this style done now, since then we can present it at the highest echalons as a means to progress immediately.

But I will remind you that advancement carries with it extra responsibilities and lessons that we have to do, and will slow down our research and other activities.
>>
>>5013241
Yeah, I think it's the one after the next that we have to take on duties.
So the smart thing is to advance to the one that we get more things to do right before our time linits is up, so we get all the benefits and none of the downside.
Although it's kind of a dick move to do that. Maybe if do go that far, we could take somesort of trainer or health instructor and just expand the classes, make those nerds at the library become fit.

On that note, I feel like TL would be a pve kind of person. Pvp seems like the obvious choice but personally I think, despite his obvious talent for pvp, he just enjoys playing solo or with his small group of friends against hard in game challenges rather than deal with everyone seeking him out for duels and arena. Though reluctant competitive pvper sounds like a neat protag for an mmo quest.

Xin is definitely stealth class open world pvp player. Plenty of opportunity to grief and steal others loot from death plus there's fun in being the servers most wanted and playing manhunt with him being the target. Maybe gets hired as am assassin by high rank guilds. Secretly he simply likes to test his skills against unpredictable opponents, something honor duels and arena don't allow with their static stages and rules. Also means their rich as hell and tends to buy gear for the others or expensive items. Can always steal the money back in loot.

Renshu would probably be a crafter and gatherer as a monk or maybe mobile caster. He knows pvp simply because of how often said kinds of players get ganked. Maybe has some stealth skills to get into guild controlled areas. Known as the kind of player who leaves others be if they don't mess with him but also the player who always manages to slip away from guild's grasps when he sneaks into their areas. Real quiet too.

Ming is the casual with untapped potential. She's just playing to hang out with her friends but shows great game sense and situational awareness. Could be a good pvper if she trains for it or a great raider as well but refuses all guild invites because she doesn't want to be flooded with chat messages. Would probably play a battle mage or monk. Something more dps oriented but very mobile.

Man, can I run TL and friends In mmo please?
>>
>>5013889
>Man, can I run TL and friends In mmo please?
We already gave you permission for bootlegs versions to make caneos or be referenced if you make the mmo quest.

I'm still riding on the idea of being some lore nerd that goes around making weird game theories and conspiracies, investigating every object and npc while dungion delving
>>
>>5013895
I'm not sure how I'd write that one out if I was gonna play it like a straight mmo game. Eventually I feel anons would get tired of me answering things with "You find nothing there is no secret here just a plain old npc." Though I suppose there could be fun with finding ingame puzzles but yeah eventually you'd probably hit that wall of you're looking for stuff that's not there. I could put in some conspiracies but I feel that'd detract from the idea of being a regular mmo and dealing with the culture and players before getting into isekai territory. Of course suggestions on how you'd like to see your idea play out are more than welcome. Hilariously enough, I might not be looking at this in the right mind set.
>>
>>5013915
Oh, I didn't mean to play as a detective, I mean to go around noting everything and making up connections, or reading small bits of lore that most people would gloss over, it doesn't need to exist or be real, afterall it's not a theory if it's straight up the truth.
Like some dude who goes to forums and make huge predictions, overanalize lore or to draw connecetion between something like Vaati and Matt Pat, or those dudes that write about ESO lore.
Although if that's bullying you too much, I'm ok with backup tank/dps hybrid that expends too much time on player housing and dancing on funny places between dungeon dives.

Although that would all depens on how much of the quest would be the in-game, out of game, how much of the conflict would be normal questing, how much would it be dealing with guild drama, or if there would be some nebolous evil plot that the corporation has planned, or if it would be straight up some slice-of -life login and enjoy yourself.
>>
>>5013924
Ah shit, I fucked up the spoilers.
>>
>>5013924
>I'm ok with backup tank/dps hybrid that expends too much time on player housing and dancing on funny places between dungeon dives.
First of all, I feel personally attacked. The time I spend on my mmo house and dancing on my fellow players' homes is the perfect amount of time.

Secondly, I love this idea for a character. It's a fun personality trait and I think it would be fun to play a character like that. I'm not sure how exactly that would play into the game. I don't know if it could be the sole focus of the quest but certainly it would be enjoyable to have him/her babble about connections in lore or about how the devs mentioned a bit of plot connected to this place that's never mentioned in game. As for the content of the quest itself I'm wanting it to be a balance of slice of life log in and play and dealing with guilds. Basically you log into to play (be it players choosing to focus on pvp or simply being a looter (person who doesn't pvp but picks up scraps from world fights to resell or the more risky of actually running into a ongoing group fight to steal the best items from freshly fallen players), maybe being a raider or speed dungeon clearer. Personally I think it would be interesting to be a merchant character. Someone who solely has their fun selling and making items. Plenty of interactions with other players there.) and you do something that might attract the attention of the wider player base. Now the players need to deal with that while still wanting to enjoy the game and from there the web of npcs and interactions kind of grows. I'd like some irl stuff to happen, maybe you do a meet up with online friends or the like, but nothing that would take precedent over the time in the mmo itself. Perhaps there's a virtual space or maybe a 3rd party application we can throw in where you can chat with friends outside the game and maybe hang out.

Of course, this is all just a general idea. Something might be cut back or ignored if I think it's too complex or eats up too much time. But generally, I want the game to have a vauge goal of how the MC enjoys their time in the game. Something that will cause them to intereact with the other players of the universe and bring in goals or rivalries. Being a lore junkie is a great trait but at the moment, I don't see how I can use it facilitate the meta idea of giving the MC a goal. It's too...vauge? No that's not the term. I don't think it's proactive enough? Or maybe it's because the enjoyment of lore has very little mechanical interaction in the game.

Yeah, focusong solely on lore would get tiring after a bit of time, since unless the pc's motivation wasxto just go around just to noting everything down and just used the other players and gameplay as a mean to an end, it would have little interaction.
Maybe it could be some sort of journalist/historian hybrid? Like he goes around not only inspecting the world created by the company, but the achievemnets of other players, like craftsman of server/regions, which guilds does what, who is tge leader of which one, etc. Because if there's some ranking, orgabizations, pvp zones, player territory or pkayer economy, than there's history there too? Maybe they could have a blog or something to justify the austim.

Or they could just like questing and exploring, and the lire and reading is just a hobby inside a hobby.

Time to get to writing. Gotta wake up the fiancé.

You make your way to the training grounds in your usual timely fashion and sit down to wait, Xin Lan still fast asleep on your head...or at least you assume so. You gently poke one of the bunny's feet and Xin Lan wiggles their toes in response but they refuse to move. "Come on Xin, I know you're awake." You say as you hold their foot and shake it. When they continue to stay still, you pull them off of your head and hold them in your arm. Even now, they continue to play coy with a smile on their face and their eyes closed. After so many months of knowing the sneaky little bugger, you still had to admit that they still a cute charm to them. Or maybe their teasing had some kernal of truth and you had a thing for the long eared species. You sigh and hold them at arms length. "Or maybe I should call in your little boy friend? I'm sure our brown bunny friend would love to give you a kiss to wake you up." You joke.

Your joke is met with a kick to the face as Xin Lan pretends to stretch and yawn. Thankfully, they held back and all you feel is a sore nose. "As if I didn't have enough things to fantasize about. Now I want a big strong snow leopard to come and kiss away my sleeping enchantment." They say as they hop forward and hang from your neck as they wrap their legs around you. "Maybe I'll take the risk and kiss you awake. I've always wondered how much of your body you actually trained..." They say as the curl up and scritch your ears. "I'm willing to make my brother mad and search everywhere. And I mean everywhere..."

You hastily pull the rabbit off and set them down next to you as your feel your face on fire. Xin Lan giggles and rests their head on your thigh as they lay back down. "So what did you learn?" You quickly ask as you take a deep breath to try and settle your racing heart. Xin Lan turns over and rests their chin in their hands.

"Oh you're no fun." They say. "Can we at least snuggle a bit more? I missed you, you know?"

"Xin Lan, I've died and gone to hell and still I lay awake some nights afraid of your reaction when I'm really gone and you miss me." You say trying to look away and hide your face. Xin Lan's grin grows wider.

"Big guy, I always miss you. My heart aches when I'm not in your warm embrace and I year to feel you strength around my body." They say. You can only manage to cover your face at this point as Xin Lan cackles wildly. Once they choose to be merciful, they say, "Last night was rather uneventful." They admit. "I managed to track the drunk down. He says that he was given the information to spread around like some kind of prophet of morality. Evidentally he did a good job because he was drunk off of some rather expensive wine."

"Sounds suspicious enough." You say. "He got paid off but did he say by who?"

"No. Took drunk to think straight. I managed to track down where the drink was sold though." Xin Lan says as they recount their night's events. "Seems like someone messed with the schedule. Probably to cover their tracks. Whoever it was stole a bottle and gave it to Pema."

"What about the rest?" You ask. "You said there were tons of wine missing."

Xin Lan shrugs. "Honestly? I think the staff has been skimming from the private stocks all along. Drinking on the boss's dime. From the records, it seems like the owner only really comes to work to host parties for others and to show off. Other than that, he tends to keep away though he seems rather meticulous on the surface."

"What do you mean?" You ask.

"If he really was as meticulous as he wants to look like, then he'd have noticed that several of his private bottles were actually public ones. Especially ones that were supposed to be disposed. All you had to do was lift them and see the weight was off. Plus it seems like he only noticed a theft because an entire bottle was missing and not replaced. His suspicision of his staff is fairly new from what I've heard."

"It could be possible that someone got sloppy?"

"Or perhaps the boss wanted to get rid of a rival." Xin Lan says.

"What? But you said that the boss didn't notice-"

"That I heard of." Xin Lan corrects. "Perhaps he didn't in the beginning. But what if he noticed when he went to pay Pema? Or perhaps when he checked to find something to bribe him with? Then he simply sets up a day to be extra busy and blames his staff for a theft."

"You're thinking he did this to ruin Renshu's buisness? Or perhaps to scare him into closing?" You ask as you try not to laugh. The idea of someone so mundane actually scaring the man who struck fear into an entire nation was simply a bad joke.
