The year is 2000, otherwise abbreviated as the Y2K. On this day, January 1st marks the first day of the new millennium. The 21st century. Taking place within this time period, in Karakura Town, located in Western Tokyo. An average small city comprised of at least one hundred thousand citizens that take residence. A rather quaint place that saw mass development since the Taisho period. This city seems perfectly ordinary as any other city, but it has one unusual statistics. Lied with these grounds is a Jūreichi, a unique phenomenon in the Material World. In simple terms its a spiritually charged area to which Souls find themselves drawn to.

The locations of the Jūreichi come and go much like the changing of the eras. In spite of these alternations, one thing remains consistent even now. Those that are enriched with the spiritual forces serve as a lightning rod for calamity. In order to protect these spiritual enriched lands, a task force residing in another world has taken jurisdiction in the dealings of such matters. Oblivious to the common men, this military organization does battle with the countless forces that threaten the balance of not just one city, but the entire realms themselves. We call these diligent protectors, the shinigami.

But that’s not where your story lies….

>Welcome to my Bleach Quest
>You’ll be playing as a “human” just months before the start of Bleach, and the quest will follow your adventures up through the very end of the series and maybe the novels
>The beginning of the quest will be fairly similar to early Bleach, but further down the line, the changes in canon will become more apparent. Although I have changed a few things regarding canon, most of those won’t become apparent or relevant for a long while.
>I will also be adding elements from other sources such as the novels, movies, and any other form of media that don’t drastically damage or disrupt the core of the story
>We’ll be using the D100 mechanic and the System in the sheet here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xg2kKAqR8zo5cBtSdmlje8b7lbCkW5dQw-xF4stkLt4/edit?usp=sharing
>Have fun and try to be mindful of your respective players. We’re all the same in the end.

Because dragons are the most awesome.

Though other than knowing Quincy influence means we'd be a quincy, and suspecting soul king means shinigami, I don't know what the others would be.

Also:

I've always thought the artificial soul thing was incredibly interesting and wished more had been done with that or I could see a quest where we played as one that didn't spend all its time stuffed into a doll, but alas, they don't really have any powers and probably wouldn't be that fun to play.

A white light. That was the last thing that you could recollect before everything fade away. Standing in front of the white light was a single man, clad in a divine golden aura, body white as the purest light, and a presence that transcended the boundary between man and spirit. A true divinity that power was immeasurable, a living abnormality born from the singular world itself. On the other side was a colossal being, made of pure black that extends into the very skies themselves. Donning an unusual faceless mask, this giant mass comprised of countless souls stood on the other end of the spectrum.

Two forces polar opposite between one another yet ironically coming from the same place. An unforeseen phenomenon that would ultimately decide the fate of the original world. With fate being the primary decider, it swayed over to the white humanoid. With a single swing, the blackened entity was bleached in its white light, symbolizing the end of its chaotic rampage. Prior to being vanquished, the seemingly mindless blacken creature strived to do anything it can to survive. It’s souls while under the embrace of tranquility comprised together in order to become a complete singularity.

Although its body has vaporized, the conscience that directly linked to its core being remained. Being comprised of so many souls, it couldn’t be completely destroyed. The abundance of reishi that comprised the creature threatens to cause a rift in the balance. A rift that was so strong that it caused an imbalance that threatens the whole of creation. Only through the efforts of five special people that the single world could be preserved and saved. Using the very power that caused the chain of events, these five individuals emerged victorious against the impending crisis. But in the cost of using that same power that nearly destroyed everything, to ensure this event would never happen again the worlds would be split into four dimensions.

One world for the living beings to reside in peace, one world to shepherd the souls either born into the world and those of the recently deceased, one world for the abnormality that threaten to devour everything using the remains of the first menos, and one world born to house and seal the pit of chaos that said to exist since the beginning of time. For extra protection, the passage to the fourth world was sealed within the world of the living to ensure nobody but a select few can enter. As a byproduct of their actions, the world established a cycle of life and death. A world of freedom and in a way, a world born out of fear.
>>
>>4329619

Existing within the boundaries between the three worlds, a singularity continues to linger in quiet solitude. Despite the separation of the three worlds, despite the relinquish of its physical form, despite everything it experienced, it still refuses to fade away. An immovable spirit that cannot be broken or move. That in itself was truly impressive. More so that it was able to retain its sentiency and wholeness despite being enveloped in darkness. Such unwavering resolve manages to catch the attention of a certain bearded man, shrouded in the darkness in order to step into this unforsaken boundary.

“Even after everything, your lingering will still refuse to dissipate. I’m most impressed.” The cloak man muses, stroking his beard as the only light that came from him was a pure white void in his eyes. “You truly earned my respect nameless one. For that, you should be rewarded with something special.”

“....”The silence was all that the strange man was given in response. Even now it continued to focus on a singular objection, survival. This simple-minded thought nearly caused the man to laugh. To think such a pure, simple entity was once the greatest threat in all of creation. Musing the thought over only ended up causing the man to crack a smile, having now understood precisely why the forces that being allowed this entity to remain.

“All things in this world have a name, a meaning etched onto them that signify their value, their worth, and their identity in the world. And you who were born from those very same forces that govern the singular world are no different. You just haven’t established one yet. “ The mysterious man explains, pulling out a simple tool from his back.

“Since you cannot be destroyed, it’s only fair that you should be given a chance at another life. To experience things that you didn’t get to taste during your first life. To be given free will in order to have the power to make the choices that many take for granted. And, the chance to decide what your role in this world should be. One as pure as heart as you can easily sway between good and evil, but that in itself is true balance, tranquility, and serenity. To think I’d see an enlightened spirit in a form like this.”

Slowly moving his hand over to the dark orb currently swirling in bright blackened flames, the bearded man gave a humble smile. “Thus, I will not reject your existence, the very same core being that even now you hold fiercely like the cosmic fire that burned during the world’s creation.” Upon making contact, the black orb starts to swirl, momentarily revealing the pure white state that it obtained during its bleaching.
>>
>>4329622

“Try to live a life without regrets. No matter how far you search, or how many times you must be reborn, the answer to your existence and its meaning is something only you can create. No matter how long it takes. Now go, you are not meant to spend eternity blocked off from reality.”

With a simple flick of the hand, the blackened spirit started to contort and twist itself. The bleached white manifests from within its blackened shroud, producing a sort of duality between the two colors. Swirling in contrast with one another yet remaining in perfect rhythm no matter how far or long the tempo went. The black and white orb soon ascends upwards into the light, disappearing without a trace. Leaving the shrouded bearded man to himself as he watches the orb undergo the cycle of life and death. Just as countless other souls, be them good or bad underwent the same experience.

“May you find peace in a new existence...Kaõha, the Dark One…

After that there was another bright flash, radiating with the illuminating beauty and intensity of the sun. A white sun to be precise. The lumination was far too bright for anyone to see as it overloads your senses. Causing you to nearly panic as the light envelopes you whole.
Fluttering your eyes to focus while simultaneously brushing out the sand in them, you find yourself currently lying on your blue bed. The alarm clock going off on a cool Monday morning in April. It was the start of the new school year.

For you, that means you were going to be starting your life as a third-grader. You weren’t particularly too thrilled about it since it was still school. If you had your way you would want an easy life lazing around listening to music on your cassette player. But life wasn’t ever that carefree and simple. Letting out a long yawn you pull yourself out of bed, ruffling your messy reddish hair. A trait of your European father Fredrik from Scandinavia, while your mother Reika resides from Okinawa with cool dark hair and blue eyes.

Had you taken your father naming scheme your name would’ve been Soel/Sol Axelsson instead of Haruto Shirota. But given your area of birth, it was decided that you would take a more Japanese orientated name to better fit in with others. Easier said than done with your reddish locks. The kids often call you tomato boy thanks to it and your round cheeks. That and the Onibi due to the paradox of your chill demeanor yet fiery appearance. To be honest you didn’t really care all that much.

After taking care of your morning duties and getting yourself ready you stepped out of the house. Still yawning rather loudly with a dull expression on your face. That strange dream you had kept disrupting your sleep schedule. For someone of your stature, it wasn’t exactly good for you to be sleeping in class. Speaking of classmates, you would see walking down the street was an orange-haired boy currently being chewed out by a familiar raven-haired girl. You knew the two as Ichigo Kurosaki and Tatsuki Arisawa.

I can agree to some of that but what about our dad?

>>

dad is dead... Or you can come up with where the parents are. Also if they are working overseas what's their occupation.
Left my description on parents vague to let others think what would be good

I think since he's living by himself it would make him a bit more responsible but fully able to enjoy in what he wants to do. Since he's gotta take care of himself and the house.
>>
>>4330687

Fair enough. The dead dad plot could work but only if we really want to put in the effort of articulating a suitable death for him and his journey.

But that also come to the risk of being cliche.

Anyway if they're gonna be overseas then probably some high ranking business manager or administrative executives. Or archeologists or an economists. They have to be pretty loaded to support us if we seriously do the 8 year old home alone stick. Probably still have someone watches over occasionally

It's a real shame that the main takes place in the early 2000s cause electro swing and techno/electro seems like right up Haruto's alleyway.

Aside from that, there's Eurobeat, J-pop and rhythm to consider alongside jazz/blues.

Judging from your distance it seems like the tomboy was chastising the shy orange-haired lad. Probably something in regards to the bullies or karate class. As far as you can remember Ichigo was all intention purpose a momma’s boy. Despite his strong desire to protect his family out of duty as the oldest and his namesake, Ichigo didn’t particularly bring a vote of confidence. He was quick to cry especially whenever he lost a match. Yet on a dime whenever his mom showed up he quickly bounces back with his trademark smile. Again, it didn’t leave much for reassurance for someone who wanted to be the one protecting instead of being protected.

In contrast, Tatsuki was far more “boyish” than Ichigo with her bold, outgoing, and extroverted nature. Despite being a girl she was actually the strongest member of the dojo that the three of you went to. And it definitely shows, especially with how aggressive and domineering she could be. Of course, she wasn’t always in bossy sukeban mode as if that was the case then someone who’s laid-back and easy-going like yourself wouldn’t be able to stomach her. In essence, she was the level-headed and calm straight man to your three stooges act with Ichigo. And it was her similar laid-backness that resonated with your groove.

Both Ichigo and Tatsuki were two of your closest friends, of which barely stood out to you. In school, you were relatively an average dude on the surface. Sure, in terms of innate talent and ability you were a prodigy despite appearing like the typical prodigal son. Whatever you did you found yourself quick to adapt and progress at an unusual rate. As if you had a cheat sheet of all the intervals and inner works in the task that doubled as the directional compass that map your way to victory. It was only balanced out by your laid back if not slacker nature. You only put in just enough to past, retaining just a B average grade curve despite it being easy for you to get the best scores.

Something that Tatsuki naturally complain about whenever she sees you not giving your all. It was something you couldn’t help since straining and overworking yourself has never been your style. Besides, it gave you time to appreciate the things that people missed by going slow and steady, especially at your chilled pace. Like music. To everyone in school, you were known as the music kid. Someone who could play just about any instrument with your key preference being the stringed instruments. Hence why you’re often seen holding a guitar, ukulele or banjo, even a sitar on some occasion.
>>
>>4331621

With your mother constantly working overseas and your father being an executive salaryman to a megacorporation, it all but paint a picture to what led to your current state of mind. Taking karate was honestly a means to protect you but also teach you the core fundamentals currently lacking in your life. Such as discipline and control, though in your case focus and drive was a bigger concern. While they’re generally around when it matters most, it didn’t change the fact it often left you becoming self-sufficient. Aside from your big sister and your aunt, you spent most of your time being alone, free to do whatever comes to mind.

Reeling yourself back to reality, you take a moment to consider your options. The simple thing to do was to walk around them and be on your merry way. Of which you did start on doing as your mind generally works on avoiding proves with ingenuity and insightful wisdom far beyond your age. But as you slowly walk away with the crowd, your conscience real you back in just moments before you were out of sight. Making a short sigh, you turn your body back, walking down the hill to dive right into the minefield. Avoiding trouble was your forte but abandoning people who need you was the worst kind of trouble there is towards your simple life.

“Don’t you think you’re being a little hard on Ichi? It’s far too early in the morning to get stressed out.” Pulling out your guitar you hit a few keys in smooth, soothing rhythm while timing it your smart-alec banter. “I’m sure whatever happened it’s not something worth fussing over like this.”

“Don’t you go pulling that guru mind trick and change the subject Haru. I’m still upset with you about yesterday’s karate match.” Tatsuki pouts, folding her arms as she sees you coming in.

“What’s there to be mad about? You beat me fair and square. I can’t keep up with someone of your ferociously and talents.” You sheepishly smile, casually waving to Ichigo who did the same.

“Yeah, but how can we say that if you never take anything seriously. You’re going to live a rather dull and hollow life if you keep skating around in slacker fashion.”

“That’s not true, I take music very seriously. I’m in the music club after all.” You argue back while keeping your cool demeanor. “I even got picked to do the school musical for this upcoming play.”

“As the third seat. I’ve seen you play Haru and I know you could’ve easily gotten second or even first place if you really wanted to. Isn’t there anything that get you fired up and wanting to be the very best?”

“Not really I just like playing to the rhythm of my soul and going with the flow.” You nonchalantly answer, busting out a cheery if not cheeky smile with another drumming from your guitar.

“You’re hopeless you know that Haru” Tatsuki sighs, finding herself unable to be upset over what she was arguing about previously.

How would it out of place? Is it so far fetched that Haruto could potentially be interested in black metal? If not that music genre, what else?

It'll be fine, that can be our thematically appropriate rival for the inevitable Bleach Quest: Hell Verse. Alternatively the inevitable edgy dark side mode

Mostly I just don't see it meshing with the laid back direction we're going in, from a character perspective. Plenty of black metal fans are super laid back in real life, sure, but when writing a fictional character it's often best to pair their interests with their traits.

Seeing that Tatsuki has simmered down or at least lost the urge to continue arguing you walked your way over to Ichigo. In contrast to what you saw from earlier, it looks like he gotten banged up a bit. A few scrapes and bruises but nothing major. The first thing that came to mind was bullies. Like you, Ichigo was a victim of prejudice because of his orange hair. Children can be surprisingly self-centered and straightforward. That’s to be expected when such concepts as morality and ethics haven’t blossomed yet. And that in itself is scary when considering the potential for malice while fidgeting innocence.

In a way, that’s precisely why your parents instituted you into a karate class in the dojo on the weekends. A lot of good that did as you’re exceptionally skilled at being evasive and sharp. It wasn’t that you didn’t know how to fight, far from it in fact. Just to you, it seems far more troublesome to throw a punch than talk things through or avoid the problem altogether. To your would-be tormentors, your chill demeanor often put them off to the point of associating you being creepy. When it came to hitting you it was as if punching a leaf in the wind, in other words, no matter how hard they tried, you were untouchable.

Still, on the rare chances that you got hit, you were rather good at taking a hit and rolling with the punches. This only ended up further putting off the bullies since they found you too weird to strike. But there was one more reason neither you nor Ichigo got as much torment. The reason being Tatsuki herself. For some reason or another, she was always the first to jump right in towards your aid. Unlike you, she didn’t hesitate to use her martial arts to kick butt, nor did she held back when it was warranted. Such a high-strung gal would of course often get mistaken for a boy with such a gun-ho attitude. A fact that on many occasion you pointed out with mixed results.

“So Ichi, are you alright? What exactly happened to cause you to get all those marks? Was it those kids by the playground again?” You ask, offering up your handkerchief from your bookbag for Ichigo to clean himself off with.

Reaching out with one hand, Ichigo takes the handkerchief while holding onto what appears to be a flower in a bottle. “Thanks, Haru but I’m alright. Tatsu swooped right in and scared off the fifth graders like they were nothing.” Ichigo smiled, rising to his feet while feverously holding on to the bottle. Immediately you sense that he was protecting it with all of his strength.
>>
>>4333152

“See those jerks were trying to break this bottle with their rocks and marbles. They don’t know that this bottle was a burial for a dead cat that was run over a couple of weeks ago. The dead can’t exactly interact and they need someone to mediate for them.”

“Ghost again?” Tatsuki immediately let out a sigh, placing her hands on her hips before leaning towards Ichigo. “How many times I got to tell you that ghosts don’t exist.”

“But they do too Tatsu. I can see them clear as day.” Ichigo argues, reeling back from Tatsuki flicking him on the forehead for being dimwitted. “And this cat was really scared and lonely. It’s so sad.” Reminiscing the lingering feelings coming from the anime made Ichigo take a rather melancholy look, almost reaching the point of sobbing for the cat. Some would see it as him being a big crybaby, but you couldn’t help but be impressed at how much empathy he carries.

“Ugh, back me up here Haru,” Tatsuki asks, turning her attention back to you as all eyes awaited to hear your answer on the matter.

Hey now Tatsu. Dont you know some babies and kids and sensitive to ghosts and stuff? Now dont you go ribbing on Ichi on me now and call him a baby. That's too easy. I think its neat. Maybe play the guitar to attract ghosts.

Have you ever been to a graveyard? Do ghost just linger there? Do they socialise with other ghosts? Do you think we all have ghosts and the troupe of "you become a ghost if you have unfinished buisness" is a real thing? Who even though that up? Movie and media entertainers? Actual medians?

>Write-in dialogue

“I dunno, I don’t really see a reason why ghosts wouldn’t exist?” You blurred out in a confused yet still laid-back manner. Catching both Ichigo and Tatsuki off guard with your sudden bluntness. Normally this would’ve been the part where you would change the subject by mentioning your favorite band or making some other kind of music-related comment. At least if you couldn’t directly evade the conversation.

“Excuse me? Care to repeat that?” Tatsuki asks, raising an eyebrow while sternly looking at you with narrowed eyes.

Slowly taking a deep breath, you blankly start to slow down your speech tempo upon request. “Okay. I don’t really see a reason-” Before you could finish you saw Tatsuki stomping her foot down at your antic.

“Not literally you smartarse!”

“Well, just because we can’t see ‘em doesn’t mean that they can’t or won’t exist, Tats.”

Turning your head from the tomboy, you glance back to Ichigo’s direction, specifically the bottle as he goes to set it back in place. “I mean, I can't see sound or radio waves, but they're still there. Frequencies and all that junk. Maybe ghosts are just on an even higher frequency, way above what we can measure or observe?" You shrugged, finding the right time to make another music comment much to Tatsuki’s grimace and Ichigo’s amusement.

“So what? Are you saying ghosts are like the air we breathe or the music you listen to?” Tatsuki questions, keeping her skepticism upon her adamantly placed a metaphorical foot in the ground.

“If the shoe fits. But I think I’m getting what this is really about.” You nod, folding your arms as you take a deep look at Tatsuki. Almost leaning over to her with a rather serious expression.

“Wh-What is it?” Tatsuki mutters, almost stumbling at her words being rather off-put by your sudden seriousness.

“Tatsuki…”

“Y-Yes.” Sweat was pouring from Tatsuki's facial sides, the tension getting deeper as time went on.
>>
>>4334955

“Could it be perhaps….” Leaning closer to Tatsuki, you keep your unblinking blue eyes locked with Tatsuki’s brown eyes. Making her all the more uneasy as your serious aura practically smothers her. Waiting just long enough for dramatic pause did you finally break the silence. “...you’re afraid of ghosts?”

“What kind of question is that?!” Tatsuki hisses, almost smacking you insinuating such a thing. Her face was blushing red at her personal space being invaded for something stupid.

“Think about it. People who usually skeptical about that kind of thing got some deep physiological phobia or irrational obsession over the supernatural. You clearly don’t look the latter so the former is a natural conclusion.”

“I’m telling you, I’m not afraid of ghosts!” Tatsuki screams, almost shooting fire out of her mouth in comedic exaggeration.

“No, no I understand. You don’t need to put up a brave face Tats. For you, I can understand why ghosts are scary. After all, you can’t exactly punch a ghost much like you can with bullies. Isn’t that right Ichi?” You ask, bringing Ichigo into the matter.

“I didn’t know Tatsuki had something she’s scared of. To be honest I thought she was incapable of being soft and in touch with her feelings.” Ichigo remarks, genuinely surprised by the discovery.

“Nah, she may not act or look it but she’s still a girl at heart. So rather than not touched with her feelings, she’s clearly a tsundere.” You inform Ichigo, causing him to nod in awe to your wisdom.

Tatsuki on the other hand simply grips her fist as she fumes over in silence over the two of you picking part her character. A loud crunching coming from her knuckles followed by blood vessels sprouting into a cross shape mark. These were clear signs that she was at the point of being absolutely livid over your antics.

“Anyway, even if you’re right and it was all in Ichigo’s imagination, he still did good protecting the bottle. Only real low-lives would cause vandalism like that. So if anything, this is the perfect chance to teach Ichi-here some defensive karate moves to help protect him from those bigger than him. I mean you already have experience in that since you made even the six graders cry in karate class.” You remark, trying to turn the situation back into a compromise.

“...Yeah, I should. Starting by using you as a demonstration dummy!”

Well, unless we manage to follow a proud bleach questing tradition and get Tatsuki punching powers so she can deck hollows in the schnoz.
>>

Which one was that?

>>4335109

Nope
>>
>>4335216
Well, I know Shinigami Savant went all in and managed to (somehow) set the girl up with full blown Shinigami powers.
And Tatsuki getting dragon-themed martial arts powers is often discussed early on in bleach quests, though the high attrition rate of bleach quests means most of those die.
>>
>>4335612
Tatsuki was honsetly just completely over at all times in Shinigami Savant. Massive powerup, winning the StrawberryBowl, plenty of screentime even taking on the player character spot for a bit, she won HARD in that one.

In hindsight, it was probably wasn’t a good idea to be teasing the dragon. Effectively undoing the calming remedy you previously placed upon her. The concept of confrontation itself followed by aggression was among your list of things that you were aversive against. Trying to solve things before they escalate into violence suited you better in the long rung. Unfortunately from the looks of it, it seems Tatsuki wasn’t going to listen to reason. No, what she aimed at doing was giving you your just desserts.

“I don’t suppose you’ll be willing to listen to an apology and simmering down before falling under another tsundere trope. “ You interject, waving your open palms to try and calm her down. A gesture that only resulted in you putting your foot in your mouth.

Responding only by cracking her knuckles, Tatsuki gave you a sharp glare. “Thirty seconds.”That was Tatsuki’s way of saying it was all the time she would give you to try and appease her festering rage before she insinuates those tropes that you’re so fond of pointing out.

"Well, you see-" Trailing off your words in a genuine show of sincerity, you quickly began running in the opposite direction. Specifically, following the path towards your elementary school.

Seeing you resorting to running away only made Tatsuki reaffirm her decision to give you a good bonk the first chance she gets. As such Tatsuki chases after you once the thirty seconds were up with Ichigo tailing behind in worry. But not before putting the burial back into place and appeasing the dead cat as he runs off to catch up with his friends. You, on the other hand, paid no attention as your life was on stake. An exaggeration sure but it wasn’t without concrete evidence that if she catches you that you’ll be in a world of hurt.

Thinking to yourself in mid-run came a wave of inspiration for a song correlating to a chase. One would have to wonder if now was really the time for such a thing? Nevertheless, you spent the remainder of your morning running from a rampaging Tatsuki. Finding the time to throw a few quips here and there while displaying an impressive showing of athletics, acrobatics, and prodigious physical condition through parkour. For someone who avoids violence, it made perfect sense that you would max out your evasion skills.

From cartwheels to flips you frequently barely manage to dodge Tatsuki by a hair's breadth despite careful maneuverability and fancy footwork. What you lacked in power you more than made up for in dexterity and agility. If not practically abusing your sharp reflexes. Eventually, the chase would soon come to an abrupt end. By luck or skill, you find yourself in the classroom with the rest of the class. Making it just at the knick of time, you slouch over at your desk near the window seat in the third row.

Upon sitting at your desk you feel yourself suddenly becoming more sluggish and worn out than usual. It was only eight in the morning and already you feel like you want to take a catnap. Having spent yourself “playing tag” with Tatsuki for the better part of the early morning, you were feeling rather drained. Possibly another exaggeration but even so you weren’t exactly at a hundred percent. Lunchtime wasn’t for another four hours at least, so trying to replenish your energy via food wasn’t an option.

Thinking about it for a good couple of minutes you ultimately decide the only remedy to this situation is to do what you feel like. In this case, you set yourself to take a nap. Now any amateur would merely put their arms out before resting their head against them to take a nap. Such pedestrian tactics were beneath a seasoned veteran like yourself. Using the accumulated knowledge over the various techniques for sleeping in class made the act child’s play.

Choosing to go with a personal favorite of yours, you propped a notebook into place and pretend to take notes while in actuality taking some much-needed shuteye. This wasn’t the first time you committed to sleeping in class nor would it be the last. So with that in mind, you developed many means to get the sleep you desire while being at the top of your game. Avoiding pitfalls like snoring, sleeptalking, or even sleepwalking, you didn’t experience any threats towards breaking your cover.

Having even learned how to sleep with your eyes open there was no position or circumstances where you couldn’t get any rest. A talent you picked up during the rare moments where you had to stand in the hall, do the air sitting exercise, or even carrying buckets. Such a frightening level of skill and perseverance would’ve made school even more trivial than it already was. But then again, that just goes to show how much potential you carry when you put your mind into a task. When fully resolved and committed, there was absolutely nothing that can stop you.

In your long slumber, the time just passes you by without a care. Retaining an acute social awareness and sharpness of mind you remain ever conscious of your surroundings. Whenever the teachers from one of your classes called for your attention you immediately rose to answer in typical slacker fashion. Completely deceiving them over the fact you were merely sleeping talking rather than being fully awake. This skill was essential during the most boring periods of class which was mathematics and language arts.

Before long lunchtime finally came, signifying the end of school. Once the coast was clear, you start stretching your arms. Silently letting out a long yawn, you feel yourself fully rejuvenated and then some. Today was an especially good performance as not a single person knew that you were sleeping. Nor did you fall behind in learning, even if it was mostly drivel. Slowly reaching for your bag you start to head out to the cafeteria.

Having gathered all your stuff and placing it in your bag, double-checking to see everything in order, you were rewarded with peace of mind. Letting out another long drawn out yawn you prop your bag onto your back before walking out of the classroom. Even in your drowsy state, you were aware of your surroundings. Following the rhythm of the sounds echoing in the hall from one’s movements mapped out the area. Allowing you to maneuver over any possible students that would be in your way. A benefit of having acute ears due to years of music exposure.

Making your way into the cafeteria you casually walked in line to get your meal. There was no desks or table to sit in the area since students only go in to get their meal before heading back to the classroom to eat it. Typically. The line went surprisingly quick though you weren’t really being pressed for time. Looking through the menu you got yourself rainbow trout fish, rice, Vermicelli chicken salad, Tonjiru aka pork miso soup, strawberry milk, and a sweet potato tart. A well-balanced meal if you do say so yourself.

Considering your parents’ professions you could’ve just bought one of the fancy lunches elsewhere or even cook your own, but you typically didn’t mind eating the school food. Whether that was laziness talking or a genuine fondness for their cooking it was hard to say. Your elder twin siblings Akami and Kuromi could’ve made you lunch if you really tried asking either of them. But again the thought seems more of a hassle than a benefit since they were getting used to middle school as 7th graders.

With lunch in hand, you made your way out of the cafeteria. Waiting for Ichigo and Tatsuki to get their lunch, you stood against the wall. You didn’t have to wait long as they soon came out with their meals. Together the three of you walk in unison in a single filed line. With you typically in the middle, as Ichigo was behind you and Tatsuki was in front. Instead of going back into the classroom, you made your way up the stairs. Taking the necessary turns down the hall and climbing more stairs, your travels lead you towards your destination in a reasonable manner.

Reaching the doorway you watch Tatsuki opening the door as it leads towards the rooftop. While many students eat in classes there was other hotspots one can enjoy eating their meal. The only stipulation is that you clean up after yourself once you’re done. Even you thought this was fair since it didn’t take much effort following if any at all. Nevertheless, you sat against the rail, setting your meal to your side. Before taking a bite, your attention drifted up to the sky. It was rather beautiful as you saw musical note shaped clouds on the blue sky.

“Waaaaa….how cool.” You mutter, practically spacing out as Tatsuki blankly stares. Ichigo meanwhile just laughs a bit.

Oh how about a plan to prove the existence of ghost! Ghost huntin squad, say is Tatsuki is too scared to do it if she complains.
1st we go to a abandoned building or cemetery
>>
Just to remind everyone that you guys were born in 1985, and the main story takes place in 2000 where you would be 15 years old, so right now it's 1992.

But I can be persuaded to change the timeline if being limited to the 90s and early 2000s is too limiting narrative-wise.

Also obligatory this is AU from the canon if that wasn't clear in my introduction.
>>
>>4340396
I'd be up for this, didn't really know how we'd suggest it with how chill we are but could just be some curiosity on our part. Or just wanting to tease Tatsuki. Either way, could both be fun and move the plot along.
>>
>>4340402
Mostly Tease, bit curiosity since Ichigo is always saying he can see them.
>>
>>4340336
Perhaps we can go to Tatsuki or Ichigo's house to hang out, or we can go visit a store to listen to some music.
Ask Ichigo if he see's any ghosts and offer to play music for dead people. That's like, bonus points or something when we die, because the ghost'll give us a good work in the afterlife. Plus its practice.
>>
>>4340396
I like this idea. A cemetary or abandoned building would be a place to go to. Maybe we can buy an oogie board to communicate with. Wouldn't that be so cool to have a ghost friend. I'll support this if music is involved.

I think the timeline is good where it's at.

It was an interesting idea to have a different type of weapon that Shinigami could use other than just a Zanpakuto. Kido also seemed pretty under-utilized in the series (and so many Shinigami just sucked at using it). I was thinking the Stealth-force should have had a Kido-squad where they have noise-blocking facemasks or something and constantly chant prayers of the spells so they can fire them off at full power at a moment's notice without telegraphing the attack.
>>
>>4340830

Well, I won't say the idea hasn't come across my mind. But really structuring them to fit the established lore between the manga and the novels will be a challenge, some easier than others. But I won't deny the possibility of tackling them if the interest for such a thing is there.

“What are you spacing out for? They’re just clouds.” Tatsuki questions, holding her green tea bottle in hand while setting her bento on her lap.

“I think he’s admiring the shapes. They kind of look like musical notes from a certain angle.” Ichigo points out, keeping his chopsticks in hand as he began eating his fried shrimp.

“Heh, just what I expect from my bud Ichi, he gets me. “ You smile, flicking your gun fingers to Ichigo in a super casual manner. “But I’ve been thinking back to our conversation earlier.”

“Sorry if I’m not convinced of that. You tend to space out easier than a goldfish and have a notorious habit of hating doing things that are strenuous.”

Immediately after hearing that you broke into a light laugh. You couldn’t exactly prove Tatsuki wrong since you use your wits and talents trying to maintain and easygoing lifestyle. It just wasn’t in you to really stress yourselves on non-consequential stuff. Everything will generally work out, something that you believe deep in your heart. That’s why you typically avoid straining and overworking yourself, working within your limits, and doing what’s within arm’s reach. Of course, anything you did you managed to do well on the first try. Perhaps a counterbalance to your slacker nature, or vice versa.

“Aw, c’mon Tatsuki, I think Haru has something that he wants to share with us,” Ichigo argues, defending you with trusted confidence while still being gentle with Tatsuki.

“Fine, I‘ll humor you. So what exactly have you been thinking about in correlation to that earlier topic?” Tatsuki sighs, using this as an excuse to eat her meal rather than letting it get cold.

“Thanks. Anyway, it’ll begin by going back to music. Music in itself is just sounds, tones, and frequencies guided by signs, patterns, and other symbols. A logical but otherwise boring answer in my opinion. Something of its dimension can’t be labeled with something so limiting. If it was only just that then people wouldn’t be so deeply moved by music when they listen to it. That’s why it’s looked at more of an artform than scientifically.” You mentioned. Keeping in lieu of your meal you took occasional pauses to eat your well warmed and cooked meal before it got cold. Not that cold food really bothers you, but then again most things didn’t get under your skin.

“But to me, I see it as a medium of one’s heart, their soul to communicate with the outside world. Just by listing to a song, you can understand everything about a person or the story that it has to tell through the lyrics.”
>>
>>4343036

“Like how Shakespeare said how eyes are a window to a person soul” Ichigo cries, snapping his finger at the immediate realization.

Nodding in response to Ichigo you resume making a laid-back smile before going back to explaining. “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. From its melody, rhythm, tempo, or even its harmony, it’s all compiled up together housing the emotions, nay your very essence and experiences into one smooth arrangement. That’s why to me, music is essentially the soundtrack of your life. Y’know?”

“Putting aside your fixation towards music, how exactly does this tie back to ghosts?” Ever the skeptic Tatsuki reels back your “deep” insight from getting things off track in her perspective.

“Well, in a way since we can’t see music but feel it, then that means ghosts are pretty much the same element. Probably like that of an echo that’s left behind from the original source. It slowly diminishes from reverberating but it continues to exist as it never truly goes away. When you look at it like that, it makes sense how ghosts can operate on a similar wavelength. Even when our bodies inevitably cease function and become one with the earth, it isn’t the end for us. Our consciousness lingers on in the spiritual form, leaving an echo of ourselves in life as we inevitably wait for our next chapter. Whatever it is.”

Staring at your miso soup, noticing the ripples flowing through the surface brought forth stars in your pupils as your face lid up. “Thinking about that, I think it’s cool Ichi can see spirits. Kind of serves as proof that perhaps there’s something beyond out there. Like there’s actually is life after death. Even if in the end we’re just echos floating around, waiting for someone to open up and listen to the beats of our soul’s hearts. Far less depressing than knowing we’re basically worm food once we die.” After saying that you went to reach for your rice up and start taking some bites.

“....” Tatsuki pause, stopping her hand from rising upwards in another nitpicking session. Ichigo who lives in a hospital has already had the talk over the cycle of life and death.

Anyway, back to story posting.
>>
>>4343039
>>4343055

Thus, Ichigo wasn’t really phased about the blunt phrasing coming into the topic. Tatsuki on the other hand while aware of the subject didn’t really put excessive thought on it. It was a rather depressing fact that regular folks just accept. That or turn to other vehicles to comfort the troubled mind, such as religion. Coming from a parent of the Ryukyuan people in Okinawa Prefecture naturally inclined you to the shamanic side of the Ryukyuan religion. Although such practices were also influenced by Chinese religions (Xiantiandao, Taoism, Confucianism, and folk beliefs), Buddhism, and Japanese Shinto.

As for your father’s side, they were strongly tied to Norse paganism rather than directly follow Christianity; course your dad took great interest in Buddhism for obvious reason. But again it didn’t really come up all that much since your home was rather free-spirited in the modernization of today’s culture. The only one that took any seriousness in your roots was your mother’s grandparents. But that’s a story for another time. For you, it was simply a manner of having already found peace and tranquility through music. It was enough for you.

“Really, what is the meaning of life? Why are we here?, What is life all about?, or What is the purpose of existence? All those questions the grown-ups asks all end up at the same endpoint. Now there’s more to it than that and there are many other questions out there. Heck, because we don’t know the answer that we keep asking more questions. And when we do get those answers, we only feel more loss than we were before. But back to my point, all those questions tied directly to us wanting to find value and worth in our existence. To know that we have some sort of purpose or role to fulfill in order to justify ourselves.”

“But really...when you think about it, do you really need a reason to exist? A reason to live? A reason to keep going in the great unknown? The answer, at least what I came up with is no. You really don’t. People live just because they want to. Simply living in itself is reason enough to keep yourselves content and push yourself to keep going. Even in death, the desire to keep existing has to be strong enough to keep persevering even after the fact. Otherwise, things like ghosts really wouldn’t exist. So with that, the answer is simple. But my answer can’t be the only answer out there. Just as there countless clouds out on the horizon, there’s plenty of different answers. Different conclusions, different beliefs, an endless stream of possibilities that stretches out there for one to grab. “ As you start to dive deep into the philosophical and spiritual platform, you end up causing a system overload for your friends.
>>
>>4343073

Ichigo was awkwardly laughing as he was having trouble understanding more than half what you were saying. Tatsuki on the other hand was getting rather annoyed listening to your ramblings. Despite them being quite insightful and full of wisdom, the very same wisdom you wouldn’t expect an eight-year-old boy to have. It didn’t change the fact that as you went on discussing these philosophies that it was becoming more obtuse and long-winded as time went on. Ultimately, Tatsuki found herself reaching the limits of her tolerance as she loudly claps her hands together to tell you to break it up.

“Well that’s enough talking about stuff grown-ups would be stressing over constantly. I think the best course of action to prove Ichi is right is to follow the plan I’ve got set up.” You remark, going back to eating your meal. Giving your friends enough time to process what they just heard as you merely enjoy the simple things.

“You can put so much thought and effort into these philosophical talks but a simple class assignment is what has you only mustering the bare minimum,” Tatsuki mutters, grimacing over listening to such discussion just to get to the point of it. As she reflects upon her life choices, her eyes darts up in confusion before narrowing forward. “Wait, what exactly do you mean plan?”

“It’s simple Tats. If you want proof that Ichi is telling the truth that he can see spirits, then the only thing to do is to go somewhere that’s bound to be filled with spirits. Like an abandoned house or a graveyard.” You waggled your finger in a confident smile. Triggering a shocked expression from both.

“Ehhh?! You can’t be serious.” Tatsuki snaps, letting out an exaggerated cry over disbelief.

“I might not look it but I’m always serious Tats. Joking around during important topics such as this is a real drag and a waste of effort. Besides, you said it yourself that you’re not afraid. So surely you wouldn’t mind coming with me and Ichi to a haunted location. Isn’t that right Ichi?”
>>
>>4343089

“Uhm, I don’t think that it’ll be problematic since I never met a bad spirit before. But going to such a place unprepared sounds rather dangerous doesn’t it?” Ichigo questions, tapping his chin as he ponders on the idea.

“Dangerous? Try reckless foolhardiness. I was a fool thinking that you would have a reasonable answer for that longwinded speech.”

“Hmm, you’re right we should probably carry with us some sort of anti-ghost device or something. Perhaps blessed salt, iron, or some other form of ghost warding/repellent. Say Ichi, what would you say would be the best defense against them?” You ask, drowning out Tatsuki’s impending rant as you turn your attention to Ichigo.

“I think salt and cold iron would be good enough, maybe one of the ghost-catching nets like a dreamcatcher would help too,” Ichigo remarks, also choosing to ignore Tatsuki’s rant over the matter.

“Then it’s settled, but after we go to the shopping arcade of course. We still need to get the supplies, but more importantly, there’s a cassette tape of one of my favorite bands just out and I want to snag it before I forget with this ghost hunting business.”

“Hey! Listen to me.” Tatsuki barks, getting remarkably annoyed that her counterarguments were falling on deaf ears on why this ghost case is a dumb idea.

“I mean we already know you’re going Tatsuki. So no need to try and sway us with these fakeouts. That is if you’re not afraid of ghosts that is.” You bluntly remark, practically teasing the elementary schooler as her face turns red.

Most logical option: where else would one think the highest chance of encountering a ghost would be? Also the safest, really. Outside so we don't have to traverse the hallways of those derelict buildings. Haunted or otherwise, it'd be pretty dangerous to be in the building or hospital. Whether it be because the places are falling apart or just some squatter is living there.

How about we ask Ichi to ask the ghost questions which we can prove in the real world like for example. Info that we couldn't know, have Ichi close his eyes and we play games like Pick the right ball under the cups ( Three cups, one ball we place under a cup then shuffle it around and have Ichi ask a ghost which cup the ball is in.) another is we get cards and have Ichi blindfolded and we pick cards at random showing it only to us and Tatsuki and hopefully a ghost.
Another is we play Ghost games / test that people normally do.

After your insightful discussion, you continue eating your lunch with some friendly banter. It was ultimately decided after some convincing that the three of you would commit to your plan of action. Giving you the chance to lay out some potential places where ghosts haunting was spotted. The first was the local graveyard, it was a no-brainer why ghosts would be lurking around there. The second place was the Sukari Building, a former hotel that was connected to a sacred burial ground that was destined for demolishing. And the final place was the abandoned Matasukura Hospital, a former psychiatric and medical ward,

Common sense alluded you towards the graveyard. Out of the three choices, it was the safest out of the bunch since the graveyard was out in the open. Ghosts may be the hot debate but falling debris and potential squatters are common occurrences in those derelict locations. Besides, what other place has the highest chances of finding a ghost than a graveyard? While it’s debatable on the level of book smarts you currently possess, but in terms of street smarts and wisdom, you were second to none.

Using those street smarts you devised a soundproof gameplan before going off to getting the necessary supplies. Thankfully you could get all the stuff needed at the shopping arcade alongside your cassette tape. Traveling through the store to store with money secured, you and the gang bought a ball, three cups, a deck of cards, flowers, an ouija board, and some other offerings/ghost hunting tools. All of which you could easily afford since due to your parent’s high stature put you in an upper-class status. As for stuff such as candles and flashlights, they were also easy to round up from home.

With your tape recorder and cassette player on hand among other necessities, you were ready to tackle some ghosts. Having bags of blessed salt and an iron pole hiding in your bag alongside the supplies you made your way to meet up with Ichigo and Tatsuki. Once reunited the three of you embark your way towards the Karakura Town Cemetary. The trip only took about forty minutes from your meeting point. Giving you more than enough time to go over the plan step by step with your colleagues. Ichigo was supportive while Tatsuki remains skeptical, leaving you acting as the team leader.

Upon arrival the three you quickly instigated the triangle back to back-formation. Sticking together, covering your blindspots made perfect sense all things considering. Doing this made sure that no one could jump you or catch you off guard like zombies popping from the grave or psychotic gatekeepers. However, during your huddling as you walk through the graveyard did you realize the fallacy in your foolproof plan. Realizing he was the only one who could actually see the ghost, Ichigo quickly pointed out the shocking folly.
>>
>>4344085

Resulting in a well time smack upon your head, Tatsuki grumbled angrily as Ichigo lead the way. Leaving you to nurse the knot on your head as you look around to see the ghosts. The plan was to start off with a jam session with some offerings in order to appease the ghosts. Having them in a good mood was a better solution than invoking an angry or malicious spirit. Next came the decision to play some games like cups and balls, card tricks, and other memorizations before finally asking questions through the classic ouija board. A well throughout assortments of tests to prove the ghost’s existence.

As the three of you begin to call out to the ghost, you merely planing a whimsical tune with your instrument, something particular catches your eye. From a distance appears to be a purple-haired girl sitting on top of a gravestone looking somberly at the clear sky. Amber eyes completely deprived of any light as they are dull and lifeless. A pale creamy beige skin hue that was mostly covered by what appears to be a high school uniform. A sad wind was blowing through the area as you felt the melody of her heart pouring out in solitude.

Okay so to make a long story short you stepped into an enclosed dimensional space. A valley of screams specifically. While the movie version has relevance, I'm sticking mainly to the canon Kubo established in the war arc. https://bleach.fandom.com/wiki/Valley_of_Screams

Both rolls are tied to this as you unknowingly awakened your spiritual sensitivity picking up the woman's sadness and entering the dimensional space via Kūmon (Air Gate). But luckily the 60 was enough to do it without dragging your friends into the enclosed space, but it wasn't completely discreet and discrete.

The person you found is a very important plot character. So this will be jumping the plotgun.
>>
>>4344163
>>4344210

Immediately while simultaneously instinctively your body began to move upon its own. Acting before your mind has a chance to register and process what was in front of you. Not that you would’ve resisted following what your heart decided. What kind of person would just up and turn away when someone was down on their luck. You may be someone who tended to evade troublesome subjects but ignoring someone in need was perhaps the most troublesome thing out there. It was in human nature to empathize with others after all.

Walking in a casual stride your body leads you down the path towards the mysterious girl. Each step puts you closer, allowing the somber look on her face to burn itself into your retinas. Further solidifying your inner desire to want and help her. It wasn’t an act out of noble intentions nor looking for an opportunity to get something out of it. Just to you it just seems like the natural reaction any sensible human being can and should do. Everyone has the potential to do good or evil, that’s the core duality that defines human nature and further ground it in the aspect of free will.

Midway through your walk your mind finally snaps back in order, finally finishing analyzing and digesting the information in front of you. Abruptly stopping in place you recall back to your setup plan. Helping the girl in front of you was what your heart decided, but your mind quickly reminded you upon reflection to stay with your friends. Even if she needed help she was still a stranger and it would be disastrous to leave your friends behind. Turning to look back towards Ichigo and Tatsuki, something strange partook in the area.

For some reason or another, you couldn’t see Tatsuki nor Ichigo. In fact, the entire pathway leading up to them was mysteriously gone. Was this for real? You begin to think that perhaps you must have dozed off or spaced out in one of Tatsuki’s lectures. It wouldn’t be the first time that your mind trailed off on a whim. Whether if this was real or not you merely shrugged in response. What’s done is done, thus there was no point in stressing over it. With that in mind, you continue walking towards the girl as a strange tingle brush across your skin.

Eventually making your way to the mysterious woman, you slowly raise your hand in greeting. “Yo, hope this isn’t a bad time? But it looks like something got you down.”

“....” The mysterious woman didn’t even register your words, much less your very presence. It seems that she was in her own little world, constantly filled with sorrow and grief as she stood upon the grave.
>>
>>4344372

Taking a moment to get a good look at her you begin to walk around the entirety of the area. From what you can tell she was a slender if not average girl with a decently proportioned body. Or it could be the winter coat that was covering her up and padding whatever assets she has. That was also a possibility. Either way, she looks to be no older than fifteen years old. After walking around in a full 360-degree circle, you begin to read what was on the tombstone. Silently the name Kazumi Sato comes to your attention before reading the rest of it.

“Born on September 22, 1977. Died on March 22, 1992. High School Student of Karakura Town High. Elder sister of the Sato family, beloved friend, the sunny personification of the center of attraction to those around her. And a local hero. She will be missed dearly.” Beyond that was a poem about the inevitability of death. “Remember me as you pass by, as you are now, so once was I. As am now, so too you will be, prepare for death and follow me.” Wise words to keep in mind, but upon looking at the date you begin to remember what’s today’s date. It was currently the fall of 1992, specifically September 21.

Almost immediately it dawns upon you precisely the reason why the mysterious woman was sad. Not only did she not get her chance to enter high school, but her birthday was just around the corner. Talk about a double whammy. Worst yet it seems like nobody visited the grave in a long time, further adding to the loom and glooming atmosphere. Something needed to be done to combat such sadness. Pulling your thinking upon on the subject, an idea quickly comes to mind as you pull out your guitar.

Stringing the guitar you begin to play a relatively beautiful rendition of happy birthday on your bass guitar. You didn’t say anything and just let your music do the talking. Focusing on only the moment you manage to create quite an uplifting song. Of which it began to resonate with the mysterious girl. Her once dull and lifeless eyes filled with sorrow begin to finally display a spark. Signs of life under the mantra known as the light of hope. Following this came a quiet stream of tears as she continues to listen to the song.

Upon seeing your music touching her heart and soothing the sole, you merely continue playing for as long as needed. Afterward, you set your guitar onto your back before trying again with introductions.
>>
>>4344384

“Yo, my name is Haruto Shirota. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You smile before making a rather silly face, causing the mysterious girl to laugh.

Eventually breaking out her long fit of laughter, she sits down on the grave before showing a similar, warm smile on her face. “Kazumi Sato, but everyone calls me Senna...”

>64 (86), 99

(Based on the results, I'll use the 86 for something else but go with the 64 for the roll)

“Well then Senna, why don’t we leave this gloomy place? I got some friends that I think you would love to meet. We were actually doing a bit of a game. We could really use your help, and then we can decide on how to celebrate your impending birthday.” You smile, offering your hand towards the deceased high school girl.

Although hesitant at first, Senna would notice the immense warmth and gentleness that was coming from your hand. A sense of reassurance oozing out from you as you kept confident yet relaxed presence. Such zen wasn’t something that a mere seven-year-old kid should have. Making you appear almost otherworldly while remaining a down to earth kind of vibe. A gentle breeze brushes against Senna, tempering her of her looming regret and sorrow. All manner of negativity blowing away with the wind.

“...Okay, I’ll come with you. But I don’t have any place to go.” She explains, taking your hand as she hops off from her gravestone. Despite her smile, there was a strong hint of melancholy in her eyes. “I don’t really understand it myself. But if I don’t have somewhere to call home, then I’ll disappear.”

“Oh? Is that all?” You blanky respond. A mix between bluntness and laid-back relief at the fact. Senna was rendered speechless as she was on the verge of sobbing.

“Well, if that’s what is troubling you. Then why not come live with me? My place is pretty spacious and aside from my sisters, it’s just me most of the time. So it isn’t like you’ll be disturbed.”

“Are you sure?” Senna asks, blinking in confusion at how easy you could offer to house the ghost.

“Yeah, it’ll be fine. You have nothing to worry about. It’ll all work out in the end.” Smiling casually at Senna, her worries completely went away.

Nodding at your suggestion, Senna merely walks forward towards you. Her body becoming more transparent with each step she took. Before long she came to start passing through you as both of you begin overlapping with one another. A warm sensation began to envelop around you, putting your mind at ease upon receiving Senna’s soul. Blinking a bit you would see that Senna was now gone and the space that house her grave was no more. All that was around you was an empty field, symbolizing that there was nothing worth keeping any longer.
>>
>>4347686

“Alright, now that’s taken care of, let’s go back to my friends.” You mutter to yourself, scratching your head before making another carefree smile. However, it took you a couple of seconds to realize that you were stranded in a dimensional space. Normally, that would’ve been enough to bring anyone into a panicking fit. But all it did was make you lightly blink in confusion.

“Oh well, I’m sure something will come to me eventually on how to get out of here.” You chuckled in between throwing your arms behind your head.

“You know there’s a limit to how lax one can be.” Said a voice from behind, specifically where the tombstone once stood. Appear in front of you was a mature, full-figured woman of bluish skin, matching blue hair with maroon tipped streaks, and matching amber-red eyes. Wearing an outfit comprised of a white hooded cloak, a golden breastplate leotard, and a matching belt buckle. Her limbs, on the other hand, resemble that of a bird’s as with her elongated pointy ears gave her a harpy description. Only her left eye was visible as she gazes upon you.

“Who are you? You don’t look like you’re from around here.” You casually ask, finding time for jokes despite the predicament.

“How peculiar? I would’ve thought you wouldn’t ever hear my voice. Could this be seen as your Reishi (霊視, Reading the Heart) awakening? Or perhaps, somewhere deep in your heart, you found the motivation to take flight? How amusing, Haruto.” The mysterious woman called, mildly shocking you upon revealing your name.
“Whatever the reason? The melody of your heart was enough to stir my awakening, although rather early I might add. I can’t help but wonder if you’re strong enough to handle the ramifications.”

Brushing off her apparent choice of not revealing her name, you instead took notice of her appearance. “Hmmm, you’re rather thick for a lady. Are you part chicken perhaps? Is that why you don’t want to tell me your name.” You bluntly asked, assuming the name was Chika as a pun for Chicken.

Twitching her brow in response, the mysterious woman merely facepalms her face and let out a small sigh. “Keh, if I didn’t know you I’d call you a cheeky brat. But that wouldn’t do you any justice in describing you. No, to describe you is to refer to you much like a leaf.”
>>
>>4347701

“Be it the wind or the water, a leaf flows smoothly against the fluids. Dancing gracefully against the currents, maintaining serenity on a calm stream, going with the flow rather than fighting against it, letting your essence become one with Shinra Bansho while retaining individuality, the purest form of resonance. So delicate and fragile, and yet virtually untouchable. “ The blue-skinned woman muses, tilting her head upwards as she sees the cracks in the dimensional space beginning to rupture. Yet she remains to have an aura of calmness and composure despite the signs of danger. “Despite giving up resistance, the leaf cannot be cut or destroyed. Now, why is that?”

Rubbing your forehead you briefly thought about the question before an idea soon comes to you. “Well if it’s like music then it’s no wonder why it’s untouchable. You can’t touch music, but music can touch you. It doesn’t have a physical form, but it still manages to connect and influence those that listen to its tune. Resonating and harmonizing simultaneously in one simple, controlled flow that guides the feelings intrusted. All while being enveloped in the vibration and ripples the sounds generate, riding the wavelength. If you fight against the waves, its resistance would push you back regardless of strength, But by giving up resistance you can adapt and attune to any outside force or element, responding accordingly and using that same source however it pleases .“

Briefly caught off guard by your music analogy, the mysterious woman merely lets out a bird-like laugh at your answer. “That’s right, through resonance it calls forth the fluids such as the wind. The flow that governs motion, enveloping around them in the same essence. Neither the wind nor water can be destroyed no matter how much force and/or strength is met in the opposition. Thus the leaf can always avoid contact through adapting to the impending flow. Resolve operates on the same wavelengths. One day you will understand its true meaning, or perhaps you already have but chose not to indulge yourself upon the truth.”

“Either way, we don’t have much time until this valley of scream crumbles and disperse.”

“Oh, well that sounds bad, doesn’t it? I don’t know what this valley of screams is or how you know my name but from the looks of it there no time for Q&A right?” You ask, blinking in mild confusion before noticing a loud rumbling coming from the area as more of the sky starts to form cracks.
>>
>>4347708

“Stick to your mantra, everything will work out. Remember these feelings and etch them deep into your heart. Focus on the here and now, do not cloud yourself on uncertainty and fear the unknown, defuse the situation and assess, always aware of the possibilities with an open and serene state of mind. To doubt means to lose sight of yourself, to lose heart means to embrace despair, to falter/waver is to be without resolve, and to resign is to embark on the path of true death. That is the antithesis of Meikyō Shisui.” Raising her talon finger towards you, the mysterious woman imposes her wisdom onto you, reaffirming your resolve.

Instinctively you turn towards the enclosed space. Brimming with resolve while retaining a laid-back attitude, you ready yourself forward. Not giving fear a moment to

“Face forward, keep moving, never hesitate or look back. Now Zeige Dich, Noin Rabe! (Pursue/Reveal yourself, Lazy Raven)” The mysterious woman cried in defiance towards the crumbling stage in front of you.

Zittern, Nahtigalǭ!”(Quaver, Nightingale)” Upon calling the name your body was enveloped in a bright midnight blue light. Forming around your hands was a single string katana sword and a cello-like shield. Though it was only for a moment as the two constructs merged together to invoke a more impressive form.

Emerging from the calm yet fierce tempest of spiritual pressure was a truly beautiful sight. A colossal bird resembling that of the actual animal, if not a browner hue raven. Upon closer inspection, the description was more akin to that of Ying-Long, the draconic phoenix. It’s lower body was stylized like that of eastern dragons, but it also held retractable limbs, allowing it to resemble a western dragon and an actual bird. Its ruffles were a mix between feathers and scales, four long flowing whiskers, a long snout shaped like a beak, and a fluffy feather tail.

Despite its impressive grandeur, there was an immense warmth and serenity coming from the majestic beast. There was no threat of danger lingering from the beast, only the desire to illuminate the darkness and clear the path for you. Such a gentle creature. But that gentleness didn’t detract the fact it carries phenomenal strength. Even in its current state lies a well of power that seemingly as endless as the clear sky. Letting out a soothing cry, the giant bird started to emit a melody that resonated with the crumbling valley of screams.
>>
>>4347714

In response, the valley started to resonate with the apparition, synchronizing the tempo and rhythm with its frequencies. Reaching a harmonic wavelength in the process. The cracks that formed was undoing itself as the spacial rift returns to a stable of complete stability. However, not only did it connect to the pocket space but it spread out through the dimensional boundary, extending to multiple points in an instant. Drawing forth the lingering reishi from both the space known as the Garganta and the corridor-like dimension that floats within the Garganta known as the Dangai.

In its spatial platform manufacturing, a bright light flickers across the endless void. Instinctively, you usher your hand over to the flickering light. Pulling the light closer emitted a condense orb, forming a circular hole around itself as a rift in dimensional space. Oozing from the orb was spiritual pressure known as reiatsu, comprised of a rather great source of Reiryoku. Beaconing the orb towards you, you quickly grasp the condense orb. Resulting in it suddenly sinking into your hand before sinking deep into your body.

Briefly after nestling itself into your soul, a red katana manifests in your hand. Encased in a black sheath, the mysterious weapon carried an immense pressure onto it before seemingly becoming weightless as it dissipates back into your soul. Leaving you in a state of confusion, this being the second time someone disappeared within yourself. Brushing off the weird sensation you trusted the bird before you as you begin to walk upon the pathway created. Slowly but surely you find yourself walking through a long tunnel before reaching the end.

What seems like an eternity of walking in complete darkness eventually came to an end. On the other side of the path was your friends Ichigo and Tatsuki wandering around looking for you. Relieved that nothing has become to them, your body suddenly tumbles as you drop to your knees. Strength was quickly leaving you as your eyes start to dim and blacken. Before your body would hit the reishi floor, a soft talon from the blue-skinned woman safely catches you in the knick of time.
>>
>>4347716

“As I thought...it really is far too soon for us to manifest out there. Such is the fate for one to be entrusted with burdensome power, engraved to your very core. It’s only fortunate that I was the first one to come out rather than him . At your current level, you would’ve falling victim to the nonsensical madness of the Black Dragon, the supreme king of beginnings - Jammerwoch/Jabawokku. The embodiment of the other side of your spiritual power.” Nahtigalǭ mutters after having already sensing you passing out upon being caught.

Walking towards the path to the human world, a soft smile forms upon her face as she gazes at your sleeping appearance. “You really are a troublesome master.”

Arriving into the human world, the blue-skinned harpy ascended without notice. Leaving behind just a dark blue feather of reishi before dissipating. Like a graceful assassin, Nahtigalǭ smoothly skates across the sky, avoiding contact with her surroundings. Seeing the precise grave that Kazumi Sato’s deceased body reside, Nahtigalǭ gently place your sleeping body near the grave. With a warm smile, the harpy soon fades from the material plane. In its place was a trail of feathers that alerted Ichigo of your location.

Slowly waking up to the outside sounds around you you find yourself under the attentive eyes of Ichigo and Tatsuki. Although the voices were deafened briefly from your shock, you could barely make out the concern that they have for you.

As you can probably tell it's a doll, but due to your actions and roll, it acts more akin to a Zanpakuto, especially in similar regard to "White" as it and zanpakuto use the same base template. That being souls, Shinigami or not Either way, it's a unique specimen that reflects upon you dual nature.

As for what you obtained with your linkage was the lost souls that were the unfortunate victims of the valley of scream and danger sweeping, including a Zanpakuto by the name Mirokumaru (Maitreya Circle).

The 99 was for manifesting your powers for the first time as pending how the roll went, the manifestation could've went berserk and attempted to swallow you whole. Instead, it fully awakened and matured into a stable form in light of its sudden manifestation. But as a result, its far too powerful for your body to handle.

Luckily you managed to get out of this with only feeling worn out.
>>
>>4347724

Initially, I was going to go with the penalty being that due to housing Senna and awakening your powers you'd pull a "forget me not" moment and forget this encounter in light for chumming it up with Ms. Nightingale and fully in tune with your power.

But a landslide of votes went in the other direction by the time I got the chance to work on it. Hence the change in plans. Right now you have a high social connection and affinity to your doll, but your body can't handle it. Thus it'll only come out when you need it most. But your whole memories are intact.

A thing you could consider in writing the dialogue is the vocabulary used for each character. Something that's been a bit weird to read is a group of 8 year-olds having unusually well-developed vocabulary and grammar in their casual conversations. Maybe you could use simpler phrases until the characters get a little older?
This has been less of an issue in the more recent updates but something to consider going forward anyhow
>>
>>4349018

Yeah, I notice that and was rather torn about actually doing what one anon wanted by being philosophical and I wanted to be consistent. But at the same time its a pretty slippery slope considering that you're only seven. Even if you're a lazy prodigy there's a limit for suspension of disbelief. I'll try harder to remedy that.

Anyway, I'm going to be a little late with posting session since I want to cover more ground and jump further in the plot.

But since we're getting close to a good jumping point for a timeskip, I'll ask your opinion on the matter.

During the time of slumber, your mind began to wonder now that the dangers looming over you has been successfully vanquished. Just what exactly was that just now? Who was that mysterious blue-skinned harpy? How did she know about you? How did you know how to answer her question so meticulously? What was that world called Valley of screams? What exactly is a Valley of Screams? Why was Senna trapped in such a place? Who was that mysterious draconic phoenix and why did you resonate with it so well? What was that strange weapon you pulled from nowhere?

There are so many questions that left your head spinning trying to recall them all. It all seems so tedious and taxing on the mind the more you began questioning what was going on. Perhaps it was connected to that topic the mysterious harpy mentioned, Reishi aka Reading the Heart wasn’t it. Truthfully you did feel more “Zen” than usual. As if the illusions and delusions of the world be it its lies to its deceits and half-truths no longer applied. Only the actions of a person are the truly honest reflection of the heart if not human nature entirely. Things like personal feelings and ulterior motives are merely masks known as personality.

That was the only thing you could honestly recall during that thought process. The power to hear the words conveyed in all of its forms, including thoughts and feelings regardless of its form or what “masks” is used to serve as the wall between them. Looking at it like that, it made perfect sense why you were drawn to Senna. How you know she was there without being conscious about it. As well as how to open a path to her, how to fix her broken heart, and many other events that partake at that moment. When you break it down like that, it all became clear.

Ultimately you decided to not ponder about it further. Seeing Ichigo and Tatsuki’s faces was enough to draw you back into the present. Theorizing all the technobabble and philosophical meanings were completely pointless once you see the worried looks upon their faces. Whatever secrets was opened by your actions or the full ramifications that were to come didn’t matter in the slightest. All you know that right now you’re safe and with your friends. And really, isn’t that enough to sedate/satiate you?
>>
>>4351655

Forming a soft smile before brushing the leaves from your hair, you let out a typical expression in lieu of your predicament. “ Yooooooooo guuuuuuuuys. Sorry for ditching you like that. I ended up needing a nap and had the weirdest dream. It was like a dream? But it felt pretty real.”

“HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH?!?!?!” Tatsuki screams, angrily pinching your nose in response to the answer given. It was something that fit your stereotypical nature but it didn’t appease the tomboy in the slightest. “What do you mean that you were taking a nap?! Ichigo and I were worried sick thinking that you got into some trouble. Do you know far this ghost yard is?! And how can you be comfortable sleeping with the dead ?!?!”

“Calm down Tatsuki. Isn’t it enough that we found Haruto safe and sound?” Ichigo addresses in before pulling Tatsuki from you. Holding her arms back as she made loud rabid noises.

“I’m sorry that I caused both of you trouble. I really mean it. Please forgive me.” Without hesitation, you casually prostrate yourself onto the ground in an apologetic bow.

Seeing the genuine sincerity of your action and voice left Tatsuki letting out a loud cry before finally sighing in defeat as she slumps over. “Fine, whatever. Just don’t do something stupid like that again. You are the one who said that we should stick together after all.”
>>
>>4351656

Having now pacified your friends with your apology you quickly reach over to grab your instrument. It didn’t take you any time at all to start suddenly busting out a groove. Strangely playing a rather uplifting song that would be found at a birthday party or celebration. But you weren’t known to fight against the muse whenever it came to you. Following your directions, Ichigo got out the assortment of different tools and equipment for the games. Leaving Tatsuki to supervise as the three of you begin inciting your plan.

Although you played beautifully and the gang followed your every instruction, Senna for some reason wasn’t able to fully materialize. Something about her isolation must have weakened her tremendously as it was the only explanation you could give. Or perhaps it really was just a dream and you imagined it. Whatever the case, you didn’t let one setback discourage you from the task at hand. But in response to your unwavering resolve, the items in question began to strangely move on their own.

Letting yourself get deeply immersed in the music you didn’t pay a clear eye to the sight. Tatsuki naturally couldn’t see the ghost or whatever force was doing this. As for Ichigo, he seems to notice something rather strange emitting from the area. What he saw puzzled him as the hand moving the toys was that of a talon. But upon rubbing his eyes in disbelief, he would soon see the hand resembling that of a delicate madam’s. Leaving Ichigo to question to himself if he was seeing things or not as the three continue with the seance.

Also want to throw this out there but aside from your twin sisters you live with, you have an aunt and godmother who frequently checks up on you when neither your mom nor dad can do the job.

Going to introduce her soon, like real soon. Just wanted to drop the surname Gabrielli without it coming out of left field later due to the importance of the upcoming event.

Also got my math wrong, it would be 2 years not 1 for the timeline to fit. So that's why I'm counting the 88 rolls.

Two years. A lot can happen in that amount of time. It doesn’t sound long when you read it out loud, but again it’s a matter of perspective. Take your life for instance. Ever since that day discovering Senna and awakening the mysterious bird-like entity Nahtigalǭ, you found your normal everyday life turned upside down. While it was nothing immediate after your time during the graveyard, you found yourself being able to see ghosts. For you who at the time couldn’t tell the difference between living people and the deceased, it made interactions rather complicated.

Thus you took to rely upon Ichigo to walk you through the process. Although, he wasn’t much of help himself since even he still has trouble distinguishing the living from the dead unless it’s pretty obvious like a blooded victim. Still, you could tell that Ichigo felt especially happy having someone who can truly understand what he was going through. It wasn’t something that could be talked about in school, less you wanted the other children to write you off being weird. Well, weirder than usual anyway. But that’s okay since you had your friends to look up upon.

Speaking of friends you met another person who spiritually aware. Her name you recall being Kyōko Haida, a rather quiet and solitary girl. She held the mysterious psychic power of divination. Most chalked it up to be having a good line of observation and intuition, but she swore that her power revolves around the five sights. Insight, Foresight, Clearsight, Farsight, and Hindsight. Nevertheless, you made a rather good impression with the cool beauty, eventually getting her hanging out with the gang.

With the three of you being able to see spirits, a certain someone was beginning to feel left out. At first, Tatsuki was the only one who couldn’t see a lick of a spirit. Causing her to be the skeptic of the group as time after time again you try proving that spirits were real to her. Gradually as time went on, her awareness of the supernatural became more acute and precise as time went on. Strangely for some reason or another, Tatsuki was developing her form of sixth sense the more that she hung out with you and the others. It wasn’t before long that she came to question what she knew as her world came crumbling down.

Aside from the strange abnormality nothing really out of the ordinary happened in these past two years. In between living the average life of an elementary schooler, you didn’t really have much to do. No real incentives or serious drives. The sole exception was finding more about that strange dream. Some part of you believed what happened was real. So real in fact that you couldn’t shake it out of your head. You wanted to meet Senna again and find out more about her and the mysterious bird lady.
>>
>>4352993

Thus you begin showing a greater interest towards spirituality, occultism, and mysticism. Finding whatever you can on the subject you embark down on the path. Following the necessary steps and sharping yourself accordingly whenever you had the time for it. To you, it was the only way you could think of in order to reach them. All other attempts prior didn’t show a lick of response much to your disappointment. The only thing that you have that could serve as a chance was the mysterious ability Reishi.

Aside from your music, this was the first time you genuinely put in any real effort in obtaining. Still, it wasn’t something that came to you relatively easily. In fact, the mysterious ability only showed up when you were brimming with “resolve”. Even then it often disappeared as quickly as it appeared, quite possibly due to your conscious unable to handle the strain. Over time, this power would solidify itself through patience and perseverance. Within the manner of six whole months, you found yourself finally able to consciously activate Reishi.

Manifesting in tandem to your unlocking of the ability was none other than Kazumi Sato herself. Unlike previously she was wearing what was otherwise called a Shihakushō (Garment of Dead Souls). Accompanying her side was a katana, in fact, it was the same katana you intuitively grabbed during the valley of screams. For some reason or another, it went into her much like those strange garbs. Aside from that, she recalled seeing a bird-like woman entering inside of her as well. Only revealing to Senna that her master’s composition is too weak to support her, so for the time being she was to reside in her till you could handle the burden for its immense raw power.

She also briefly explained that upon entering your body she felt relatively tired. Unknowingly falling into a slumber where she needed to recover. And it was that harpy spirit that helps nourished and restore her back to form before inserting herself onto Senna. During her slumber, she was kept aware of everything around her. Effectively alerting her of your every action and intention. Ultimately leading her to agree to help take the responsibility of housing the harpy spirit, simultaneously uncovering her name as Nahtigalǭ, Nighty for short.

But the strangest thing since her return was Senna developing the strange ability to materialize her form through the manifestation of autumn leaves. She called this artificial body a gigai, but aside from that, she didn’t have any real clues about it. Either way, it allowed her to interact with the physical realm and interact with Kishi, the physical matter that comprised the world. Unfortunately, all of these metamorphic changes took almost the entire year for her to be stable enough to fully manifest. Still, it was well worth the wait as Senna could at long last resume a semblance of her previous life, while simultaneously guarding you in Nighty’s place.

On June 17th, 1995. It was supposed to be an average rainy day. You were walking from the supermarket getting some supplies for your aunt Berenice Gabrielli. A woman that was known for being contemplative and analytical by nature, but as a result, she was rather talkative. Enthusiastic, bubbly, and downright sociable, Berenice was a true people person. Aside from her rubber mouth and wacky eagerness, you found her to be remarkably cool in light of her clumsy and curious nature. Often called the mad hatter, she was well known for her large assortment of skills as a notorious multipotentialite/pantomath.

Using her acute skills in the kitchen, Berenice was going to cook your favorite meal in light of certain circumstances. Your twin sisters Akami and Kuromi were far too preoccupied with their teenage responsibilities, your parents were called in a special business meeting, leaving you to your lonesome otherwise. Well, that wasn’t particularly true considering that Senna was always near. For better or worse. But then, how would your cool yet doting aunt would know?

With Nighty’s power, Senna was undetectable and imperceptible even to spiritually aware individuals. Thus cloaking her presence, only allowing herself to be noticed once dropping the veil or using her powers. You link this phenomenon to that of a noise canceler or the mute function of a speaker. Whatever the case, it made it easy to smuggle her from your family when she chooses not to remain inside your soul. Today was one of those times as she follows you from behind as you walk out of the supermarket.

The Wii is 2006, so 11 more years.

Anyway, this is one of the first divergences from canon. But I doubt I'll get any objections considering how the original Berenice was a complete nobody. Especially given how bonkers her Schrift really is. But you can already begin to tell there's an Alice in Wonderland kind of theme with your family heritage.

Also here is your siblings Kuromi and Akami

>100 (87, 97)

“Well, looks like that went as smooth as we’d hope.” You reflect upon the shopping, holding the bagged ingredients for Tonkatsu, a Japanese dish that consists of a breaded, deep-fried/tempura pork cutlet.

In this case, you were going for the variant that included katsu curry, Spicy Stir-Fried Cabbage, and melon bread for dessert. Tonkatsu in all of its many variants was your favorite food. With the Sukiyaki and ramen being a very close second. Of course, although the name Sukiyaki means cook whatever you like, it was a dish best suited during the winter times rather than summer. As for ramen, it was something you usually have somewhat daily so eating it as a special meal while you to the t, it wouldn’t be all that appreciative of your aunt’s hard work.

But really with what you had in your bag gave way to housing all the different variants of Tonkatsu for you to enjoy. Such as the Chicken katsu, Menchi-katsu, Hamu katsu, and Gyū katsu. Most of it came down to different meats such as chicken, beef, ham, and fish, but each one has its special taste that got your heart all warm and soothed. Though eating just curry, in general, would’ve been alright to you since you enjoyed it. Speaking of enjoyment, you got yourself some onigiri rice balls and sakuramochi as an added bonus thanks to all of your stuff being on sale for a steal.

Not that money was a real issue considering your family finances. But considering your nature you took great incentive in learning how to budget your money well for your hobbies. A trait that Senna herself comments as something an “old man” would have and not a nine-year-old. To which you merely laugh off, not really finding it too off from what people label you as. For a kid of your age being so zen-like often made people treat you far older than you honestly should be. Though they are usually proven right by your performance and wit. But it left the question of if your current life was pushing you from enjoying your youth as any normal child should.

“Yeah, you would think there would have been a bigger line for the beef considering the quality,” Senna remarks, walking alongside you in her gigai form. She was assisting in gathering all the supplies back home. Although trained in karate enough to earn yourself a blue belt, it was rather presumptuous to leave a nine-year-old kid doing grocery shopping by themselves. Even if the place was within your usual traveling grounds.

“Even if we didn’t luck out, Auntie Bunny can make anything taste good. It’s always like I’m eating fine dining when using her skills or having the chief herself cook for me.” You nonchalantly let out a small laugh, putting your hands behind your head.
>>
>>4354819

“Thought you wouldn’t tell considering how much of a maverick your aunt is.” Senna chimes in, keeping her eyes on the sidewalk.

According to Senna apparently spirits with Reiryoku or at least the ability to access it freely require nourishment such as foods to replenish it. Otherwise, apparently all that was needed was water since spirits typically don’t get hungry. But again that was only towards souls who didn’t have spiritual power or underwent the eroding of their chain of fate. This was among the small stuff that Senna told you about during your frequent chats with the spirit. Truthfully, the terminology you learned from her was a bit much to digest at first.

Over time the knowledge became second nature to you as things progress. Where Senna got the knowledge however you weren’t sure. The same goes for those strange black robes whenever she exits her gigai. Like you Senna wasn’t sure about any of it, chalking it up to ghost intuition or something. You didn’t really press for her for answers since where it came from didn’t matter to you. Besides, with your laidback attitude, you generally forgot about the minor stuff anyway. More importantly, you could sense Senna’s own insecurity over her supposed fountain of information. So it was best to not pressure her over it.

As the two of you decide to the long way back home on this rainy day. With Senna holding the umbrella underneath the two of you, a strange feeling came across your neck. You weren’t sure why but you felt the intuitive desire to manifest “Reishi”. It was only recently that you managed to get it under your watch. Honestly, reading the thoughts and feelings of others carried a whole lot of baggage in itself. Especially with the mysterious application of reading one’s memories added to to the mix. Hence why you use the power sparingly.

Even so, for some reason, you felt like you needed to use it. As if something terrible was about to happen. It might be you being unsettled by the sudden shiver down your spine. Resulting in a deep case of goosebumps. Nevertheless, you chose to trust your instinct and believe that everything will be alright. The refinement you have done prior surely will keep your mind from being overwhelmed and lost in the sea of consciousness. At least, that’s what you believed from the bottom of your heart...and swore on your soul.
>>
>>4354821

Closing your eyes for a moment to get yourself centered, you slowly open yourself to your surroundings. Sharping your awareness upon connecting to the spiritual particles that also share the name reishi within the area. Your blue eyes start to glow underneath your eyelids, signifying your synchronization as you let go and resonate accordingly. As a result, you begin to manifest empathic perception in response to the emotions, mood, and temperaments you were currently reading through. True to your words you managed to keep yourself centered and retain your individuality in the sea of consciousness.

“Come to me, my impure children in the dark. Relinquish the power etched deep into your heart and become the fuel in my vein for my return. Now, return to your king. Children, tainted by the dark.”

What was that just now? In the sea of voices that you were perceiving, never before you felt such an imposing and bone-chilling tone. It nearly shook you down to your core as the empty voice fade. Before you could look into it further another presence comes your way. Seeing far into the distance you would catch the image of your friend Ichigo. He was currently running towards what appears to be a cloaked bob cut woman about to dive into the gushing riverbank. Following after the boy was his mother Masaki, currently chasing after him. Only to see a giant beast behind the bob cut woman making a rather sinister grin.

“ Nahtigalǭ!” You scream, immediately calling your spirit into the physical plane.

Immediately upon command, two giant wings form around Senna as her body was slowly engulfed by the wings. Instinctively covering her with those majestic feathers, Senna’s conscious begins to slip into slumber. the giant blueish golden wings broke into six seraphim-like wings. With the main wings obscuring Senna’s body, it signifying the shift between your spiritual companion to your guardian entity. Her exquisitely voluptuous form quickly came into the surface as Senna’s form recedes into Nahtigalǭ. Again solidifying the role Senna carries upon housing your powers.

Soon the wings open up in mere moments to reveal Nahtigalǭ in her human guise. Towering over you with her statuesque appearance, you feel her refined presence stream lying through the surroundings. Even the raindrops that were previously dosing the land suddenly came to an abrupt stop. As if the flow of time around you came to a complete halt. Not just time but everything stagnating in silent emptiness. Her crimson eyes slowly open up as her talon feet made contact with the ground.

Slowly tilting her head towards you, she saw the concern look upon your face. Words at this stage weren’t needed as your feelings were already transmitted to the angelically draconic phoenix. Naturally, she too could easily sense the impending danger that was happening. And yet she was moved by your inner desire to protect your friends rather than follow self-preservation. Turning her head towards the direction where your concerns were located. All she did was take a deep breath before opening her mighty giant wings.

“Understood, my liege. I will take care of this, so wait here.” Although she didn’t need to say it, already coming to understand why you summoned her instead of going off yourself. It didn’t change the fact she said those words both as reassurance and a warning. For as powerful as she was, her lifeline was tied directly to you.

“Right. Stay safe...Nahtigalǭ” You smile, believing in your heart that everything will be alright. But you still felt the need to wish her luck before she takes off.

Once she saw you easily accepting her terms, a small smile cracks from her lips. With nothing holding her back, the blue harpy ascending forward towards the sky. Flying at incredible speeds, she quickly rose high into the air before jettison off towards Ichigo’s direction. Leaving the space around you as time soon resume. With the sudden return of the rain, you quickly felt yourself being pelted by the water. Running to somewhere safe you eventually took shelter underneath a rooftop on what appears to be some sort of candy shop. Bags in tow.

In retrospect, you really should have asked Senna to hand you the umbrella before calling out your guardian angel like that. Whatever item that Senna has with her be it clothing or objects, they all seem to go into the same place that Senna herself goes to. And once she returns, everything that was in contact comes back unharmed in the slightest. You compared this strange occurrence to a walking storage closet. There was probably more to it than that but again it wasn’t something you fretted over with.

On that note, holding an umbrella while carrying all of your food would be a little more troubling than its worth. As you thought about it, the worries quickly went away as they came. If getting a little drench for acting the way that you did to save your friend was the price then so be it. Getting a cold from this was far better than the worst-case scenario for Ichigo. Although, according to Tatsuki, idiots don’t catch sicknesses such as a cold. As harsh as that was, perhaps there was some truth to it as you’re always relatively healthy like an ox.

Even so, you wouldn’t do anyone good testing your vitality. So with no other choice, you turn your head towards the candy shop. Given what you saw it was safe to believe that the place was open. So without further adieu you slowly march over, brushing across the sheets as you step inside. Walking inside the building you were met with a rather traditionalist style shop of different assortment and goods. Rarely you would find such a style in these times as everyone generally went for a more….modern approach.

Not really off-put by the design you merely start walking further inside, darting your eyes over to look for something to keep you warm. To your luck, you would see what appears to be a cup of instant hot cocoa. Now all you needed to do was to find a towel to brush yourself off after taking off your raincoat. Setting your stuff to the side you began unhooking your raincoat, revealing your standard choice of attire. Keeping things neatly clean you start to see if there was someplace where you can make the cocoa. Before you got the chance, someone begins to respond.

“Hello, might I be able to help you?”Spoken from the back of the shop was that of a person. A calm yet mischievous middle-aged man. Walking casually from the hall his appearance was soon in full view. It was a shaggy blond-haired man wearing a green and white bucket hat, matching his dark green Shihakushō without an undershirt. Judging from his appearance it looks like he just got out of bed with those pajama-like clothing.

“Sorry for coming in unannounced like that. My name is Haruto Shirota, and I was hoping to use your coffee maker to make some hot cocoa.” You quickly address yourself with a small headshake for a bow, keeping your laidback smile while rubbing the back of your head. “If you have an actual cocoa maker that’ll be nice. Or even somewhere where I can get some hot milk or water for one of those instant cocoa packets.”

“No need to fret, we have all the necessary tools to make some genuine hot cocoa. Though if you ask me I think pumpkin spice added onto the cocoa would really liven things up while keeping that zesty rich sweetness.” The strange shopkeeper explains, becoming you over to the side to follow him. “As for keeping with manners, my name is Kisuke Urahara. A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Shirota.”

Nodding in response you followed Mr. Urahara into the kitchen space. True to his word everything you could possibly need to make home-cooked hot chocolate was here. Wasting no time at all you gathered up the necessary ingredients and dwelled into making the special drink. Going as far as to take Mr. Uraraha’s advice you took the pumpkin spice that he handed you before ultimately brewing the substance. Keeping in mind of Senna, you made yourself an extra portion for her but soon made one more for Mr. Urahara as well as a token of appreciation.

“Hey, I know this seems rather odd to ask since I just met you. But what’s your opinion on ghosts, Mr. Urahara?” Keeping your hands on the hot chocolate, you carefully blow upon it, letting it simmer until it was cool enough to safely drink.

Having previously been touched by your kindness and graciously accepting the drink, Kisuke merely smiles after setting his cup to the side. “Well let’s see. Don’t really get asked such a question, so I never really put much thought into the matter. But I believe that everything houses a soul inside. The collective component that governs over life and what ultimately carries our very being into the next world once our physical bodies give out. So in a way, it’s only natural that ghosts would exist even if normal people can’t see them. After all, a “ghost” is merely the spiritual body that houses the soul that can’t be seen by those without a sixth sense.”
>>
>>4357767

There was a brief pause after his insightful explanation as you find yourself speechless. As if it was clicking with you far better than any of the scientific and rational explanation many others gave you, including Tatsuki’s explanation. Looking at you for a moment, Kisuke awkwardly coughs before tilting his head upwards. “Or so I’ve been told. So, might I ask precisely why you wanted to know?”

“No reason in particular. I know someone who is able to see such people. He’s a real good friend of mine. A little bit of a crybaby but he’s kind and sweet. Someone that you can always depend on when asked. So I merely decided on a whim to try and give indisputable proof that the supernatural, or at least spirits exist.” Taking a casual sip from the cup you stare nonchalantly against the kitchen walls. Your tastebuds quivered with excitement over the taste as you find yourself actually liking the addition of pumpkin spice into your drink.

“I see. Well, aren’t you the sincere and reliable little child. Looking out for your friend like that, I can’t say that I dislike that kind of thing in a person.” Kisuke teases, patting you upon the head as he simultaneously acknowledges your good nature. “So, who’s the lucky friend?”

“Ichigo. Ichigo Kurosaki.” You answer back, brushing off the pat as you continue to drink your beverage in peace. “I know the name sounds cute but make no mistake, my friend is a guy.”

“Ichigo huh, well I’ll be sure to remember that in the future next time I see someone fitting that description coming into my shop.”

“Oh! One more thing. Well, actually two things. First, do you think I can wait here until my other friend comes back from her important business? And secondly, do you think I can use your phone? I wanna call my aunt and let her know that I’m okay and will be arriving home a little late. The rain is really pouring hard and I don’t think it would be wise of me venturing out when it’s like this.”

“I don’t see why not. Heck, if it comes down to it you can spend the night here. We got plenty of space and my associates are all very nice people so you have nothing to worry about.” Stroking his chin a bit, Kisume gives off a reassuring smile before pointing you in the direction to the telephone.

“Thank you, Mr. Urahara.” You nod, smiling back at him before running off to the telephone.

Having no trouble finding the device you start dialing up the number back home. After a few rings, you would be met with a familiar nonsensically whimsical tone of your Aunt Berenice. From the looks of it, she was doing her yoga practices while waiting for you to come home. Despite her age, the multicolored pink-haired woman appears as if she could be your eldest sibling or a young girl in her early twenties. She certainly has the chipper charisma and upper spirit to be an “eternal” eighteen-year-old girl.

After exchanging some small talk you immediately let your aunt know your current predicament. At least telling her about the sudden downpour of rain being heavier than either of you expected and thus needing to sanction yourself in the candy shop. Quickly alleviating her of her worries you told you that you were in good hands and if worst comes to worst you’ll spend the night. Taking your word for it, Berenice merely wishes for your safety above all else. Oddly enough making you somehow feel in some way...embracing a mother’s love.
