Why did Punk lie?

there is still plenty of time to give out those resell/unsold tickets to people with their deep dish pizza purchase
>>
>>10287821
Isn't it pretty much sold out with the current setup? Either way, that's a lot of tarps for the biggest arena in the United States. That's not even 50% capacity.
>>
>>10287821
It looks like it's only setup for 8,698 seats. So even if it does sellout it's kind of a scam.
>>

Yeah the setup is too small for that venue. It's not gonna look good with only 8k and it'll probably be even less.
>>
>>10287848
>>10287890
You think they booked a 23k seat arena expecting 5k?
>>
Almost like people already saw what Tony fucking up someone's momentum looks like. The peak AEW sales were predicated on the hope that Tony won't fuck up. Now everyone knows otherwise.

No wonder Forbidden Door II is the only PPV of theirs that sold out immediately. Even with no card announced, people know it will have wrestlers that haven't been booked into ice coldness by Tony in there.
>>
>>10287821
They need Goldberg asap. Even for a short term bump. This looks bad.
>>
>>10287947
they have been doing it all year
>>
Seems adequate for ticket sales on short notice. Literally announced on Wednesday and put on public sale on Friday,
>>
Punk is going to be forced to come back early on a Dynamite, set up his deal with Joe and do announce a match for the first episode
>>
>>10287947
Not sure. Maybe they wanted to give the illusion on TV that it's a big show. I'm not sure they could have realistically expected 23k for a market that they already burned out.
>>
Why haven't they signed Goldberg yet? That's the real draw. Not CM Punk.
>>
>>10287953
>Almost like people already saw what Tony fucking up someone's momentum looks like
They saw Punk do that with his tantrum and brittle bones that fucked up a year long story with him an MJF, who he immediately buried in the press conference. Tony is an idiot for the fact he let it happen, but Punk is the one who blew the ship up
>>
>>10288076

They sold 600 tickets for one of the Collision shows KEK!! Both Punk and Collision will blow up on Tiny's face.
>>

>It's above their average ticket sales.
The only metric that matters is whether or not it's selling better than the last show they ran at the United Center. And it isn't.
>>
>>10288211
huh?
>>
>>10288226
Sure, if you compare all their current numbers to their peak numbers you can always present them as a failure. You can set the benchmark so that they are failing every time they do not break a record, or do not beat one of their old peaks. But that's just moving the goalposts out of a need to reassure yourself that they aren't doing well. It's motivated reasoning of people who are emotionally invested in one particular outcome.
>>
>>10288226
How do you possibly expect this to sell better than Punk's first appearance after 7 years and the first time in the venue?
>>
>>10288260
He will do it because AEW has mentally crippled his ability to form thoughts and emotionally devastated him.

Remains to be seen desu, the original Punk debut sold out basically instantly but it was heavily scalped and by the time of the show they were selling tickets for just a few dollars, so scalpers heavily overestimated demand and lost a lot of money. Pic related is what it looked like once resale tickets were posted on Ticketmaster.
When the resale tickets are posted, IF they are significantly lower than for the original show then I'd say that 6k for the first day of sales is probably an okay number.
>>
>>10288254
>Sure, if you compare all their current numbers to their peak numbers you can always present them as a failure
i mean, where the lie? their peak was only a few months though. aew has been around very long but aside from the interest in the beginning everything afterwards is less and less
>>
>>
>>10287821
there were RAW's last year that did lower ticket sales
>>
>>10288384
Selectively choosing your comparisons to make something look bad isn't lying per se, but it is coping and spinning and lying by omission.
>aside from the interest in the beginning everything afterwards is less and less
Here you are lying by omission because this statement is also true of every single tv show, including WWE Smackdown on FOX.

Yes, for a company that's been around for 30 years like the UFC, you're going to have ups and downs and not constantly setting new records.
AEW is a 4 year old company. The fact that the rating and attendance of a new entertainment company are declining so early in their run is not a good thing.

>declining
Relative to their peak it is a decline. Relative to their average ticket sales, it is an above average number. You are selectively comparing this number against their peak to present them as a failure.
>>
>>10288433
it's almost as if TV is declining and the only thing keeping numbers up are the over 50's (which make up 70% of WWE's TV audience)
>>
>>10288450
>it is a decline
Thanks for finally getting it.
>>
>>10288409
not always the case. some shows start out slow and gain large audiences over time. its not just the ratings that are down though attendance is way down
>>

>>10288450

>>
>>10288453
Why are their rating declining year over year faster than most other live television programming?
Why are their ticket sales also declining?
>>

What do you believe AEW's average attendance to be if you think that selling 6k tickets is "way down"?
>>
Accident. >>10288433 is speaking facts. >>10288453 is cope.
>>
>>10288496
Their ratings hover around 0.30 and 900k and have done so for 4 years. There is no long term decline.
Their ticket sales are roughly the same.
>>
>>10287821

>>
>>10288380

>>
>>10288517
They are religiously invested in AEW's failure and any move AEW makes needs to be presented by them as a failure otherwise they get frustrated and full of anger. It is a state of permanent derangement. They come up with various copes to explain why they need to lie about everything AEW does, but at the end of the day the company deeply pisses them off and has emotionally destabilized them similar to how libtards reacted to Trump.

The last time they were there is not representative of the average number of ticket sales for AEW events. It is representative of the highest company record for ticket sales in that building.
>its booked in small gyms now and cant sell out anymore
Dynamite has always been booked in small venues and very rarely sells out.
>>
>>10288690

>>

The last time they were there is representative of demand. Less tickets sold than last time = less demand for AEW.

No, the average number of ticket sales is an accurate representation of demand, rather than simply choosing the highest value.

It's not gonna be full but I think it'll be pretty healthy by showtime. They REALLY need to hit it out of the park though if they want to salvage the ticket sales for the other Collision tapings (except for Newark which is doing okay).
I'm not as pessimistic about the concept of the show as some other people. I think Smackdown has shown that if you have a live weekly show that you treat as important people will watch it regardless of whether it's traditionally a "bad night" for TV. However, I am pessimistic about Tony's ability to treat it as important on a long-term basis given his track record with things like Rampage, Elevation, BOTB, and ROH.
