I'd probably use it only with manual lenses though, Fuji optics are expensive and pretty slow, they're fine for studio work but not very fun and they're super big and heavy compared to M mount lenses or hell, even old MF lenses

i don't have to imagine. i shot the pic above you three days ago with a mf lens. the pic with the red sweater guy was zone focused.. i guess more than just having the pdaf, i wish there were gfx R bodies with more generally updated sensors. along with the button layout changes. there are just a lot of super easy improvements fuji could have put toward a second gen. for the adapted lens registry, they are all named lens 1 though lens 7 and you can't change the names nor see the focal lengths on the list. you have to click into each one to see what it is. little stuff like that

I have a sony and have never seen PDAF or any sort of banding but I also don't shoot so directly into the sun that everything black turns brown and expect pixel peeping quality, as in zooming in so you can see individual pixels. It might be an issue if you shoot arri signature primes?

Mite b an issue with fuji because to have fast PDAF you need entire 2x2 blocks and whole rows without green pixels. The only company with PDAF that doesn't fuck something is canon. Unfortunately their ergonomics are garbage, their aesthetics are garbage, their lens selection is garbage, the lens rendering is garbage no matter how much canon shills love their test charts, and I would rather use an xt-1 and fujinon or voigtlander lenses just for the better rendering than anything canon can offer and not using an FF camera that's the size of something I would rather spend $5k on than an R5 - a GFX100s.

Fuji will never not be based for making medium format affordable and portable. It's a little slower, has a little less reach, and a little heavier, but it's worth the crazy resolution and way better color science than any RF, FE, or Z mount body.

The GFX100II is already an FF killer except e shutter sucks (good thing E shutter is only for faggots that cuck out for pissy trust fund babies playing golf and talentless hacks that need to shoot 50fps to catch a black guy jumping)

Fuji fixed their shadow banding problems years ago. It's still present when shooting into the sun, like on all pdaf sensor. I'm not even sure why they have it, their af is extremely slow even with pdaf, so they could just dump it.

I know X-Pro2 can show a tiny little picture in the corner with 100% crop of where AF point is in OVF mode. I'm focusing this way with manual lenses a lot on x-t20: getting into ballpark with focus peaking, then rotation selector press for 100% crop zoom, fine tune, come back to see if frame is still fine, finally shoot. This kind of a little picture-in-picture preview seems like just the thing for me. Can I have it in any other fuji? I know it's not available in x-t30.

I've got the X-Pro3 and use this feature to have a tiny picture of the whole scene in the corner when i'm using the OVF, to check my light and colours, it's awesome
I've set the custom button near the shutter to switch between full view and zoomed into an AF point

Not sure it'd be available somewhere else though, it literally uses a separate screen just for that

I mean, I don't expect to have it in OVF mode in non-OVF device, I just want software picture-in-picture for, let's say, x-t40. Should be perfectly doable just with code on EVF-only device.

Sad to hear it's not available for anything else, but then again, I was already heavily considering x-pro2. OVF was a pleasure to use in x100, it might be a gimmick but I subjectively enjoyed it a lot, so I might just go ahead and sidegrade from x-t20 to xp2.

No thanks. I'm actually considering selling my sony and buying a Z6II + 35mm f1.8 s + 85mm f1.8 s for that delicious usable fast aperture and low light performance MFT literally cant touch no matter how hard they lie about ISO and force NR in RAW, and then getting an x100t.

if you're going with someone else whom you want to photograph in close quarters like restaurants, plane, train, etc, the wide end on the zoom will be important. if you're going alone, the 27 will probably do the trick. then again, your phone probably has a serviceable wide angle on it
