>>4060306Perhaps it's poorly scanned idk I've only just started using the thing so i'm not sure i've figured it out yet. I'm using kentmere 400 film.
>>4060309I think this would have been better if you were like 20-30 degrees more to the left (clockwise) of the subjects. The statues should have been the focus with the people looking at it in the foreground. I think it would have looked even nicer with a (small) bit of depth-of-field blurring the people, but that can be tricky to pull off depending on the camera you’re using (e.g. with a rangefinder)

>>4059632I'd drop the 14 eur film retriever. we have like a dozen at the college lab and never ever touch them. it's easier to use a strip of unprocessed film to get the leader out.also, I'd add a wetting agent for the final wash, like kodak photo-flo or whatever the ilford equivalent is named.
Picked up a roll of expired Kodak supergold 100 earlier. Never used expired film before, what should I expect?
>>4060572Super grainy look. But it's more what you should know before shooting. The older film is the less sensitive to light it is going to be. There is a formula that gives you a number of stops you should overexpose, if I'm not mistaken

>>4059628Hello /p/oggers,I drunkenly purchased a Smena 8m from the borderlands and It had two cartridges (weirdly seems to have been popular in the east but I can find few mentions of it in the burgersphere) with film in them.I unloaded them and rolled the film onto a spare empty cassette I had. The base is dark grey to black and the emulsion is grey. It kind of looks like Fomapan but that's just a guess.Do you have any ideas how I should develop this film considering that 1. I have no idea what film it is2. I have no idea how old it is (obviously newer than 1989)3. I have Benzotriazole 1% antifog4. I have Rodinal and Atomal.Open to opinions
>>4060687>have contax camera>set custom function to leave filmleader outsideezpz oange squeezy
>>4060763If you have bought it in Ukraine it's probably Svema 64 iso (it was most popular film in these days).
>>4060763I've read in the past a recommendation to use a high-contrast developer in addition to an antifog additive. Do you have any paper developer? That, mixed to some concentration, plus the AF should work fast enough that any base fog that's developed won't have time to show itself properly. Contrast will be high and shadow detail limited.I guess experiment with some new film. Expose it to low-level light and then shoot it normally. See what you can get out of it.
>>4060814That's what I would have guessed before seeing it. It appears to have a thicker acetate base, not the thin polyester base that Svema film has.>>4060818Don't have any paper developer. If I choose to stand develop (With rodinal) does the Benzotriazole just slow the development, or does it run the risk of neutralizing the developer altogether?
are Wein cells the way to go for replacing old mercury cells? I'm seeing mixed feedback online - they have the same 1.35 voltage as the old cells compared to 1.5V for non-wein batteries
>>4061148>are Wein cells the way to go for replacing old mercury cells?not really imo. you gotta stay on top of them too much because of how they drain. better off just learning to shoot manually with an external meter.
>>4061163do they drain quickly in general or just when being used? this camera only uses the light meter/battery in AE mode, full manual doesn't use the meter
I just sent in all of my film to get developed. Does anybody else feel a weird sense of relief when all of your film cameras are empty?
>>4061165>do they drain quickly in general or just when being used?in general, people say they get 6 months out of them but i never got more than 2 months (i have tried them 5 times, most recently fall 2021) you're better buying a good light meter app (some of the free ones are fine i think) or saving up for an actual dedicated meter.
>>4059985Overactive imagination, not knowing what the phrase "grain size" means, not giving the same exposure.
>>4061182I have this constant fear in the back of my head that my stored exposed film or film I still have in my camera is somehow going to be exposed to light and ruined unless I hand it into the lab straight away.

How to get inspired to shoot film outside US/EU? Vast majority of good and highly liked photos acrosss SM are general pics of american houses, cars, gas stations, famous locations and etc. Somewhat less popular pics are from Europe and again - old cars, famous or comfy places, situations that highlight the location.Nature is the most obvious thing to shoot, however I personally don't like to take photos of overused subjects like beach/sea or endless boring trees, especially when this is all I can get in my city which is just an old commieblock region. Travelling may be a good solution to diverse subjects however I can't due to current situation in Eastern Europe. So I think I'll stick with portraits for now, but I'm not a huge fan of it. Maybe then I'll come up with something to finally try CineStill 800t that I think will expire untouched - absolutely no idea what to shoot with it since I don't have 99% of most used scenes for this film around me.

Sup /fgt/ just a quick question: what the fuck is going on with film prices?Long story short I saw the series on film manufacturing of Smartereveryday and it made me want to give another shot to photography, which I tried like 5 years ago with my father's old camera. Back then I paid a roll of 135 something like 3~4€, but now the same roll of crappy kodak colorplus 200 goes for about double that. What the fuck? I thought that with film getting popular again it would benefit from economy of scale.
>>4061994I can’t tell if people are serious with posts like this.
>>4061995I genuinely am. I enjoy watching manufacturing processes, youtube recommended that video, I watched it, got inspired, looked around to buy film, and here I am.Pic related is the gear and a photo I took with it, which are currently no more than some pretty furniture on a shelf.

>>4062000this is extremely kino subject, i wish more euros would take pictures of cool cold war shit instead of just nudes of their hot flemish 29 year old wife
>>4062004If I had a hot flemish 29 year old wife I sure as hell wouldn't share her nudes online. That said, it's hard to come by good cold war stuff because it's either tucked away in some more or less inaccessible military base, or has been outright scrapped, or because it's not old enough for europeans to care: if you like WWI for instance there's a museum at every corner because it's old enough and had a huge direct impact on the population, but the Cold War isn't and didn't. I do believe that Base Tuono, that's the name of the museum, is the only in Europe to display those missiles.Anyway, take another from that set, this has been scanned with my printer so the quality is what it is.

>>4062008>cool pictures though dudeThanks, here's another one which I particularly like even though I couldn't frame it better (I wanted the missiles to blend in with the forest more, but there was no way to achieve that). I wish I could visit places like that every other week. Beside the fact that I literally have no idea on what I'm doing and can't tell good photos from bad photos, one of the reasons why I dropped photograpy is that I hardly go outside anymore after I broke up, and where I live is one of the dullest place with nothing interesting to capture.
