>>4044472>Different magnifications of the OVF. X-Pro3 gives you a larger view of 23/27, but can't show frame lines at 18 (OVF edge is rough ballpark), and the X-Pro2 shows a larger view 35/50.very late to the party but can't you change the viewfinder magnification ? I was actually really curious about what you were mentionning since I couldn't find much information about the different magnification between the X-Pro 1/2/3. But I read that you could override the automatic choice of magnification depending on the lens attached by holding up the EVF/OVF lever up for about 2 seconds. Could this fix the difference you mention ?
>>4050675nevermind, I'm fucking stupid, I didn't realise the X-Pro 3 was only 0,52x magnification as opposed to the 0,36x-0,6x of the X-Pro 1 and 2.

Just bought an X-Pro1 with a 27/2.8v1 and 18/2 for 550€ ... did I do good ?
>>4051614Not terrible. The 18/2 is a $200 lens and the 27/2.8 is a $150 lens. So you basically paid $200 for an xpro1
>>4051614>did I do good ?yup, try and track down a canon fd 28mm f2.8 for it though.
>>4051635where can you buy those lenses that cheap?
Got a X-T20, 18-55mm 2.8-4, and a 35mm f1.4 lens. I got some money to spend around so thinking of getting that Sigma 56mm f1.4 prime for portraits. I might also update the body for a X-T30 Mk. 2 that goes for $720 locally but I don't know if it's a worthwhile investment. I got my X-T20 used.
>>4051876>I might also update the body for a X-T30 Mk. 2 that goes for $720don't bother, invest in glass or save your money insteadthe differences between the two cameras are not worth the money unless you really want to shoot 4k and slow mo videoI have the xt30ii and it's decent but I would have bought the xt20 if I could still get one new
>>4051876X-T30 gets you much better autofocus and a number of quality of life features. It would make it easier / more enjoyable to get certain shots, but pure stills image quality is basically the same.I prefer 35mm (on aps-c) for most of my portraits, but it really depends on the look you're going for. If you want tighter portraits (headshots or chest up), need the extra reach, or subject isolation, the 56 is great for that. Shoot the 18-55 at 55mm f4 for a while and see if you like the framing, and if you need more bokeh or lowlight performance.

How does XF33 compare to 50mm f1.8 FF primes? I also have a snoy body, trying to decide between XF33 and FE 55 1.8.
>>4052473The 33mm has the best CA and coma control, least vignetting, and has the roundest bokeh balls when stopped down too.The 55 is better than the 50 at f1.8-2.8, but worse at f4-5.6.I would suspect the 55mm f1.8 would give you the sharpest images wide open. Can't really go wrong either way.

Are the following lenses a complete enough set for wedding photography?- xf56mmf1.2- xf35mmf1.4- xf16mmf1.2Is 16mm a good focal length for up close action shots of the party/people? >>4054055Should be great, I've used those at dozens and dozens of weddings.I would hesitant to pick up a new 56 f1.2 given the alternatives on the market now, and the newer version releasing later this year. It's a great lens, just a bit slow to focus. The 50 f2 is honestly pretty solid too.I might recommend looking at the newer 18mm f1.4 though, it basically replaced both my 16mm f1.4 and 23mm f1.4. It's amazing.I would also rank 33/1.4 > 35/2 > 35/1.4, but if you like the optical qualities of the 35/1.4, it's a good choice (I don't like the "look" myself).I would 100% make sure you have a 2nd body if you're doing weddings too.
Sigma 56mm f1.4 or Fuji 50mm f2? Need something for portraits
>>4054642Why not the 56 f/1.2? It has beautiful rendering and there's a mkii in the works so soon you'll be able to grab a used one for peanuts
Lads. I got my xt2 with the 18-55mm a month or so ago. However, I am a 80% portrait photographer and the 18-55 is a little overkill financially for the other 20%(15% products, 5% random shit). I was thinking about trading it for an 50mm f2. Should I do it and get an xc zoom or should I just save up and buy a portrait lens(viltrox 56mm)? Note: WR is also very tempting.

>>4054642>>4054648I used to have the xf 50mm f2. I wouldn't suggest it if you are really into portraiture.
>>4054645I can get a used one for $500ish with its box and everything but it's rather an old model. I also have the 35mm/1.4 and its focus is lacking for street photography as it's slow though it's not an issue for the stills. In either case, thanks for the suggestion as they're much cheaper than what I was expecting and might get it instead of a Sigma.
>>4054650Why?
>>4054642Sigma C series is even more soulless than their A series. 50mm f2 has meh quality aperture blades and subsequently lousy bokeh for portraits. It's great general lens, though.Fast 3rd party manual focus lenses fare very well in this aspect. They tend to have weak corners that make them poor landscape lenses (still usually better than adapted lenses), but they have plenty of character, are fast in the range of f1 to f1.4, and they don't cheapout on the aperture blades, giving even the cheaper one's smooth bokeh.Open up your store and look up for reviews and samples around the net. Everything from 7artisans, TTartisans, Viltroux, Meike should do fine as long as your focusing skills are beyond the degree of incompetence.
Aside from focal length, what makes the lens bulk up? Why's the new 33mm so larger and heavier than the classic 35mm?
>>4054642I love the 50 f2 for portraits. You can get really swirly bokeh at f2, or more traditional bokeh look at f2.8. One of Fuji's sharpest lenses too, even sharper than the 90mm f2 (f2.8-5.6). Picrel should give you an idea wide open.If you just want to absolutely obliterate the background like >>4054649, then yeah 90 or faster 56 are the better choices.[EXIF data available. >>4054652Lame answer but the bokeh just isn't there. It's probably one of Fuji's greatest lenses on a technical level, especially before the latest batch of 1.4 primes and I've shot plenty of nice portraits with it, however if portraits is all you care about some 1.4 LingLing lens like Viltrox or Sigma will always be preferred by the normies you're shooting. The xf 50mm f2 only shines when you use it for 80% normal pictures and 20% portraiture I'd say.
>>4054738Never used it, but the optical formula is supposed to be the same so I can't really imagine there's much difference vs just slapping one of those diffusion filters on the standard version. In any case I've never felt that I needed softer images from my 56mm lel

I was considering adapting the Leica-M 35mm F/2 Ultron II - its price-to-performance is stellar, but I ultimately chose the new X-mount 35mm f/1.2 Nokton due to overall size, and have been very satisfied. The X-mount Nokton's optical formula is unique, and not based on the M-mount Nokton.Perhaps this new rumored Ultron shall be the same - perhaps it will be as performant as the M-mount Ultron II.Either way, I'm optimistic if this rumor is true, and I think it'll be a great relative value.
>>4054055no.zoom lenses make wedding photography a billion times easier you're cucking yourself and you're going to miss shots while changing lenses at shotty times
>>4055196that’s interestingdidn’t know this coming up
>>4054055I agree with>>4055197Also: you'll get nice candid shots with a longer zoom. Trust me, shooting weddings is fast-paced. You'll miss a lot of the action, and be a real pain in everyone's neck trying to set up posed shots during the festivities.Rent either the 16-55 f/2.8 or the Tamron 17-70 f/2.8. You *need* a fast std. zoom. I'd go with the extra reach, personally. This isn't fucking art photography.Your primes are for venue shots, statics, and posed shots with the bride and groom. Be sure to have something macro capable for ring shots and little details. Don't be one of those fucks that takes a bunch of photos at f/1.2 where the bride's left eye is in focus and you can't see where the fuck she's standing, either.Know your audience.
>>4055197Tons of wedding togs shoot mostly on primes. If you're shooting weddings, you should have 2 cameras anyways. So long as you have easy enough access to a wide and tele, don't really need a zoom. Gets you better IQ, lowlight functionality, and DoF control. The only zoom worth it to me is the 50-140, but that I only ever break out when I need the reach beyond the 56 or 80, and if they made an affordable 135 2.8 or 200 f4, I would just use that.>>4055196Curious to see how this turns out. I love voigtlander but was kinda disappointed with the two x-mount lenses. The m-mount Ultron II is great. On x-mount though, I love the 35/2 enough that I wouldn't see myself picking this one up.
>>4055196>>4055217The others APO lenses have been making themselves known as fucking excellent, so I'm very excited about this
>>4055196What's the point of an F2 manual? Especially an expensive one?
>>4055239It is definitely a niche demographic, but even within this demographic,Voigt. has proven themselves by engineering a $650 lens (that can go on sale) that outperforms and out-handles a +$2000 lens (that is basically never on sale). If this new F2 is ass, then oh well, but I think this niche demographic is hungry for more, and can be rightly excited.
>>4055196oooh I was going to pick up a copy of the the 35mm f/1.2 but if this is as good as the M mount version then it's going to be a difficult decision>>4055239I have the voigtlander 23 f/1.2, it's insanely fun to use and the electronic contacts get get rid of most of the annoyances of using adapted manuals
>>4055292I have f1.2 manuals as well, my point is that one of the advantages of manuals over autofocus lenses for me is the super wide aperture at lower cost and size.
does anyone know more about this pouch ? it looks to be Fujifilm-made but I can't find a single information about it, moreover it came with my 27mm, but it only fits the lens partially ... like if I have the back cover, the lens and the front cover, it doesn't fit. I'd love to use it considering how small it is, but I also would like to keep my front element intact or at least not so close to dust-prone material. I plan on buying a Kenko filter for the lens to prevent dust from getting inside of it, but I'm sort of not confident the pouch will clear the filter. It's a really weird accessory, does anyone know more or an optimised way of using it in combination with the XF27v1 ??

How do I minimize the risk of camera shake when using my X-Pro3? The lack of ibis makes it a bit hard to shot sometimes, and I get some slight blurred photos that you can only notice when you zoom in closely. At first I thought the camera was fucked since it's used but then I realized that it's me.Help?
>>4056615Learn how to hold and brace the camera well, control your breathing.Use a shutter speed fast enough that you wont get the blur. Common rule of thumb is 1/ equiv focal length, so say 1/60th as the minimum for a 35mm lens (50mm equiv). I basically use a minimum of 1/160th for everything on my X-Pro3. Even in lower light situations, I'll try to stay above 1/80th, as I'd rather have crisp + noisy shot, than one with blur + less noise. Faster lenses can help achieve faster shutter speeds too.Depending on what your shooting, it could be the subject moving too fast for your shutter speed too.
>>4056615Also, the electronic shutter is a lot more prone to motion blur, because your bottlenecked by the readout speed of the sensor. Even if you set to 1/250 or 1/2000, you get the blur as if it were shot around 1/100.
>>4056618Thanks! Since I use a 33mm lens should I aim for a minimum of 1/60 too?
>>4055646just get a filter for the lens so you don't have to worry
the Capture One profiles for your fuji whore stack do not look the same as the jpegs rendered by the camera. there's nothing you can do to make them look the same. something about the way the camera processes the idiot whore image is completely different.
>>40566241/60th is about the threshold at which you can easily add blur to your image if you're shaking, with a 50mm equivalent lensBut with training and by shooting a lot at low speeds, you can get down to 1/15th of a second (at least that's my slowest with a 50, pic rel)[EXIF data available. >>4057048Yeah, it's mgreat for light editing. In-camera editing is pretty quick, but you don't get a preview. X Raw Studio is slow as balls, but you get live previews and you can actually see what you're doing. It's better than nothing. film simulation bracking is promising, but im not sure it allows you to configure different shadow/hilight tone adjustments for each film stock. my ideal setup would be to generate a monochrome and a color image. the monochrome should have +4 shadows because it looks good, but the color image should have +0 shadows because otherwise it seriously looks like shit.
>>4056987get better at editingthe film sim's are close enough in tone and colorbut you'd have to do shadows/highlight manuallyit's slightly different, but not different enough to give a shit aboutthis is the problem when you rely on fuji engineers for your aesthetics, rather than yourself>>4057031you plug in your cameraand it uses your camera to do the conversion, same as doing it in camera

>>4057108ibis is fucking stupid for taking photos man even shooting at night its completely unnecessaryinstead of an X-S10 get an X-T2
>>4057234Same. I'm not nearly good enough to edit a raw photo to look exactly like a fuji jpg. 90% of the time all I need is very slight editing or nothing at all. The other 10% are shit and get deleted. I don't really wish to be so good at editing that I spend all day polishing turds where I completely missed exposure or have to correct something that takes more than 2 minutes per shot. Fuck it. I'll just take a better picture.

56mm f1.2 for $480?
>>4057840nvm I saw it, the exterior shows signs of extreme heavy use and doesn't come with box or anything. Found another for $520, in a much better condition but is also missing its box. The hunt continues.
>>4057837An added advantage to the f/2 is that it's weather sealed. A two-prime setup when neither can be used in the rain isn't that useful.I have a sealed f/4 zoom that I can use in case it rains, but when it rains it's usually gloomy, and when it's gloomy, the extra stops of aperture will come in handy.
>>4057837The XF23 f1.4 is really bulky. I would go with the f2 since you won't be doing a lot of bokeh whoring at 35mm and on top of that the wider field of view allows for lower shutter speeds. Last reason is the fact the 23mm f2 is moderately popular as a kitlens so there's an abundance of cheap second hands in good condition. The end
>>4058149Thanks. Just pulled the trigger on a used f/2. I wanted the f/1.4, but realistically I'll have more actual use for the f/2, and it certainly helps that it's so much cheaper.

Been shooting for a while but I don't upload any of my images or edit them, just keep them in a single folder like some retard and print them out.A friend asked for a few portraits so I suppose I need to shoot raws but, where do I begin? Just download Lightroom or what?
I really want a x100s, but its the same price as a X-E3 here in my country, which is kinda expensive. What do?I already have an X-E3 with the 23mm f2 and 35 f1.4, and really like. i`ve been thinking of trying the x100 series to see if makes me shoot more.
>>4058438CaptureOne has their "Express" version for Fuji, which omits some functionality, but is free.
>>4058403It's not hard at all to use manual focus lenses. You can really learn a lot about aperture and depth of field... the lower the number in your example its 1.4) the cooler effects you can create. I say give it a try.
So I looked up that the new Voigtlanders coming out aren't compatible with some of the older X-series cameras? What does that mean exactly? They don't share lens aperture data or something?
>>4058458Works basically like any old adapted lens. Compared to the compatible models, you lose exif (lens or aperture used), need to enable "shoot without lens", and no "focus check" (display auto magnifies when manually focusing).
>>4058463That sucks. I was curious over them, but it doesn't sound like I can use them with this new X-E3 seamlessly. I'll just stick with the 27 2.8 it comes with while I figure out if I like this system.

>>4058923I would pass on the OG Fuji right now, unless you find a good used price. It's not bad at all, but definitely shows it's age compared to the other two. Can't speak for performance, I'm sure both are great, but the aperture ring on the Viltrox would really push me in that direction. Fuji's new version coming this year though, hopefully more info / announcement in September. My 56mm f1.2 is about 5 years old now, and I've used it heavily, but it did need an AF motor repair this past year.
I tested both a 56 f1.2 and 90 f2 today, whilst I do prefer the actual IQ of the 90, I can't help but feel the 56 would be more versatile and end up getting more use. >>4058646I get that. It’s also been like that with me even though photography on my end has been dormant for a while as I focused on other things. I’m also the same anon who really wanted the new Voigtlanders, but not being compatible with the X-E3 thankfully dampened that oncoming GAS. >>4059859I like it considering its size and price point. I've used it whale watching and other nature stuff. Downside are the dark spots in the corners at full zoom, whatever they are called. I get rid of them in Capture One.

Anyone else loath to get big lenses? Because:- what's the point of having a sleek smaller camera if I'm going to have a huge lens hanging off itand- for street photography if you have a small lens then you just look like a tourist with a camera, whereas if you have a big lens you look like some guy trying to document everyoneFor this reason I have only had a 35mm f1.4 for a long time, I played with a 56mm f1.2 and even that felt too big, and the new 33 is even biggergranted I want to get a 55-200 or 70-300 for creative reasons, but what other small prime should I get to round out a kit?
>>4060789Your choices are 16mm f2.8, 23mm f2, and the 50mm f2 without getting too similar to the 35mm like the 27mm f2.8 pancake wouldPersonally, I have the 10-24mm f4, 35mm f1.4, and 50mm f2. Like you, I want one of those tele zooms but it's not something I'm in a rush to get

>>4060928X-Pro3 is x-trans, same sensor that's in the X-T3.>>4060887X100's aren't really overpriced at MSRP, supply shortage = higher street prices currently. If you don't care about the OVF, you get more versatility with an X-E4 / X-T30 in a similar size depending on the lens. If you want the OVF, but want more versatility at the cost of size, X-Pro3. The X100V is still the best performing option for a 35mm FoV at that size and/or with an OVF. The 50 f2 is excellent, but completely different than wat the X100 line has. >>4060789I use the smaller variants most of the time, and only bust out the larger models when performance is needed (mostly paid sessions). The 27 2.8 is honestly great, but too close to your 35 f1.4.
I feel like the X100 line is too big for a pocket and thus as soon as you have a ccamera on a neck strap or wrist strap the difference between 478 grams and 591 grams (X100 vs X-T2+27mm) is pretty unnoticable.[EXIF data available. Should I buy the X-T3 or X-T4? X-T4 costs twice as much where I live.I'm probably cancelling my order for the x100v tomorrow seeing as I've already waited 3 months for it and it's nowhere to be found. X-T3 and X-T4 are in stock however.

If you've money to spare, go with xt4, if not, you can safely go with xt3 and save that extra cash for some lenses instead.

This might save someone else's ass:My Fuji XT-1 was useful for some timelapses, but it was so fucking bright the other day that to shoot wide-open (I use vkdt for post-processing because it's fast, so there's no auto-exposure module), I needed shutter times of less than 1/4000. The knobs had convinced me the camera couldn't do manual-settings for lower than that, but you CAN:Just go to 1/4000 in manual and then roll the front wheel (not the knob, the wheel) to the time setting you desire, just like you can set time higher than 1".Fucking hell. I don't think fuji should make insane knobs, but knowing that would be good.

sorry, didn't see there's a fuji general:Newfag here. After years of using my phone and a small point and shoot I wanted to get more serious with photography.Sadly, I got shilled into buying an x100v, by all the fujifanboys and the youtube algorithm and how the limitation is going to make me a better photographer, how it's important how the camera looks (low profile is better to not draw attention or to draw attention of qts), and how the film simulations will drastically cut my time editing photos and could concentrate more on shooting and composition.Well, i hate the camera. It's just not for me. The same photos I can make with my stupid phone or the point and shoot. And the only reason for a dedicated non-amateur camera the only need would be for video. What could I get for video, that would be in a price range of a sold used x100v?Should I just get xs10 for video? or go to a different brand altogether?
I really like my xf35mmf1.4 on my X-T3 but shooting in a small home studio feels really cramped and I always struggle with finding proper positioning to capture a full body subject and generally do a poor job unless it's close up portraits.Would a wider lens make any sense in this context?
>>4062956You should have posted here originally, i would have told you to get an xt20 or an xe3 with the 27mm pancake lenssame form factor, sensor and features but it's cheaper and you can always change lensesx100v is an overpriced toy
>>4063121I find 35mm to be too tight at room settings and often times find myself switching to my 18-55 and shoot at 18 to 25 range. If you have a zoom lens, see what focal length works for you then maybe you can get a prime lens suited for your needs.
>>4063135I haven't touched my 18-55 ever since I got the 56 and 35, is the quality as comparable in the studio setting with flashes, softboxes and shit?
>>4063149I have zero experience with flashes so can't answer your question, but my advice for using it to figure out which focal you need still stands. It's an alright zoom lens and I find it quite handy with its OIS when I'm shooting multiple people in-door but yeah the image quality isn't comparable to Fuji primes.

xf23 f/2 or viltrox 23 f/1.4? I just want a small light 35mm equivalent for walking around, but the viltrox is cheaper than the fuji. I have the 27/2.8 but I don't like it at all
>>4063613Too bad about your Parkinson, though
i'm getting a x-pro3 as my first fuji system and am wonder what lens to get along with it. I've been eyeing the 35mm f1.4, 35mm f2, 23mm f2, and the 27mm f2.8. Any suggestions? Ideally I would get a prime for my first lens but I am open to the idea of a zoom.
>>4055823A Japanese review came out with sample pictureshttps://news.mapcamera.com/KASYAPA/apoultronmacro35/
>>4063914whatever you do, don't get a 27/2.8the 35 1.4 is my favorite
>>4063914x-pro3 ovf is best with 23-27, but still pretty usable with 3527 f2.8 is tiny, optically solid, but slow to autofocus and less bokeh whoring35 f1.4 has a unique look, but I strongly prefer the 35 f2 overall23 f2 is fine, weak performance wide open / close up, but otherwise solid, I would put the 35 f2 ahead of iti usually rock the 33 f1.4 or 27 f2.8 on mine
>>4063914a 50mm equivalent is the best first lens for any system along with a 28 equivalent I'd say. For the X-Pro3, go with the 35, the OVF is great with that focal length. The 28 2.8 is also great and mine is the lens mounted on my camera most of the time, but it's also kind of a jack of all trades master of none, 40mm equivalent is very natural and neutral, and that's both good and bad. I like it more than 35mm for everyday use though. If size is important to you, it's incredible though, I often have to travel while pretty heavily loaded, and I'm not afraid of banging the lens on anything. especially with a square hood on it, so I don't even have to put a lens cap on
>>4063927>>4063934>>4063937Alright thanks for the info guys. I think now I'm definitely leaning towards getting one of the 35s to start out with and will probably get something wider later on. Just so excited to try this thing out
Looking to upgrade from my kit lens. I shoot primarily in lower light settings and closer when it comes to subjects. TTArtisan 50mm 1.2 Viltrox AF 56mm 1.4Sigma 30mm 1.4Xc 35mm 2.0Any suggestions on these four ?
>>4064136why not the xf35f14?
>>4063776anyone?
>>4064136I've got the TTa 50mm f1.2. it's really tight for general purpose shooting on a crop. I only really use it for portraits and even then a 35mm f1.4 does just fine.
>>4064185$600 is a little above my budget. I'd definitely get that one tho >>4064214When you say "tight", are we referring to the urban nomenclature? As in, "yo that shit is tight"? Lol. Ty got it, never shot in 50mm+ before.
>>4064136Those all are all very different focal lengths, so you should figure that out first. Since you have the kit lens, it should be pretty easy to see whether you prefer shooting at 30/35mm or 50/56mm.For handheld, you can go lower on the shutter speed with wider lenses before running into issues with camera shake (kit lens with OIS might even be best for that), but that may not matter if you are having to stay fast enough to freeze subject motion.I would be inclined to go with the 30 f1.4 out of those, but it really depends on what you are needing / wanting out of the lens.
>>4064227buy used gear. all my gear is used and I've had no duds, fuji users seem to keep their gear in tip top shape in my experience
>>4064227Tight as in the field of view is narrow and you often have to take some steps back to get something in frame
>>4064227>>4064239this, I got my xf35f14 for 350€ used 4 years ago and to this day it yet has to fail on meyou'd be surprised how many pristine lenses can be bought at 1/2 price from people who never go out and use them but regularly buy the greatest and latest
>>4064239>>4064242ebay?>>4064240Using my kit lens on different focal lengths as >>4064230 suggested and while it doesnt go all the way up to 50mm, 45mm definitely feels too close and not what i imagined what it would feel like. i think i'll keep tinkering with the kit lens before making a decision. >>4064254i use the Spanish equivalent of craigslist, rarely I trust eBay sellers but sometimes I do, but I'd rather see and test the gear in person>i think i'll keep tinkering with the kit lens before making a decisionthis is a very good approach, there are tools to analyze your photo's exif data and will show you your most used focal lengths, that way it's easier to decide which prime will work better for your shooting style

were it your choice, would you get the 55-200, 70-300, or 50-140? For the lens you choose, what characteristic do you value, and why (what use case) do you value it?
>>4064360This seems excellent. I wonder how it will compare optically to the XF 33 on a 40MP sensor.
>>406450050-140The 55-200 is great for landscape, I just wish it hat the same features and build quality as the 70-300. It's juuust wide enough on the wide end to use it for some normal purposes. Great for the zoo, too short for birding. Super cheap. The 70-300 is a wonderfully built lens for people who can't afford the 100-400. Too narrow for using it outside of wildlife/landscape and probably to narrow for a lot of landscape as well. Fairly recent and accordingly pricey. The 50-140 is wider than both, a much better event lens and overall probably the best zoom Fuji offers (probably not as good as other brands's equivalents, though). It's more expensive, but strictly per dollar spent, you will have by far the least regrets. I wish I could afford it but I guess I'll forever be stuck with the 55-200.
>>4064313currently trying to cop an xf23f2 for about 250, just a matter of time until one pops, shit's 500€ new on Amazon
>>4064566The 50-140 is also a pretty old lens in the current lineup, I am guessing Fuji is bound to update their red badge zooms now that they have addressed the oldest primes.Either that or pray Sigma is in the mood for APS-C telephoto...
>>4064500I got a 55-200 right before my holidays recently and I absolutely fell in love with it. Insane sharpness for a zoom all over the range at any aperture, I was astonished. I hear the 70-300 is even better at the same weight, but unfortunately I couldn't fit one in my bag due to bulk, but I'm really happy with my 55-200 to the point I'm considering selling the xf90f2

>>4064594Lovely colors. Post it
>>4065283I did a quick test with the latest LR and the demo version of iridient and I found that with the correct film profiles in LR the colors are almost exactly the same between both and that the LR version is sharper. I was most worried about the colors, I never managed to get LR to show the same colors as I get in camera, but guess things have changes in the last year
>>4065057Iridient works well, but the workflow was annoying for me for such a marginal gain, the "enhance" feature in LR basically replaced it for meeven just adjusting your sharpening settings (which most people just leave at default) in LR can make a huge difference, before enhance I just adjusted sharpening and it did the job well enough over Iridientat the end of the day, it's really only an issue when your pixel peeping, I know I only ever noticed it looking at my own files in LR, because I don't really pixel peep 100% otherspicrel is the 1-click enhance vs LR default sharpening at 100%now I just use the superior CaptureOne
>>4065397>superior CaptureOnesuperior how? I've tried using it in the past and I can't for the life of me get to like it, but then again I've been using LR for years and I got dozens of presets that pretty much became my "style" after a whilei was intersted in iridient because I couldn't get decent colors in LR, so I wanted a middleman to keep the colors accurate before anything else. Now that LR seems to get that right I don't think there's any reason to use it anymore. BTW, what sharpening settings do you recommend for raf files in LR?
>>4065434Switched like 5 years ago (after using LR for 10ish years), and LR has improved a lot since then, especially on the color grading side. For a long time LR lacked more advance color tools and you only had HSL / Calibration / Curve, as opposed to things like the advanced color editor and skin tone uniformity tool.Much more customizable UI, much better tethering experience. One big working example is I find it much easier to bounce between library / grid view to selected photos. For the longest time in LR (maybe even still now), your only option for comparing more than 2 was in library view with the thumbnails blown up all the one. C1 I can just switch between grid and however many photos I have selected. Not unique to C1 (and you can take either approach in both programs), but the switch to a Sessions based approach to file management (over 1 catalog) has been a game changer. For the people that hate subscriptions, it's available standalone. And of course, x-trans demosaicing is better. At the moment, LR has much better mobile and cloud capability (and general Adobe integration), but those are both big priorities for C1 this year. For sharpening x-trans I like higher detail, lower amount.
dunno but to me C1 always looks softer
