Got this for £100 and it’s pretty nice. I’m struggling to get as nice colours out of it compared with my X-T2 though….

I only have one lens, looking into getting another. Anyone have a setup with a 50mm and a 100-450mm? What do you do with each?
>>
>>4024773
Further to this. It's an awkward sized camera in that it's not that pocketable and too small for a neck strap so you either put it in a coat pocket and it's weighed down on one side or you awkwardly have it hanging from a strap.
It ends up being just as annoying to carry as my Canon 6D...
Might sell it for profit.

I use all of it, although to be fair I only use what makes sense in a given situation.
During my last vacation the only part I didn't use from that list was the ND-1000.
Not feeling comfortable posting much of that as many are portraits of friends and myself.

Be careful with straps as the strap lugs dont attach to the frame, but the outer shell of the camera.

Casual here.
I mostly use my m100 for travel photography, to have something decent looking instead of samey smartphone photos after going to places.
Aside from the 15-45 kit lens, I only have the 22mm f/2 and a manual 35mm f/1.4 which I only occasionally use if I can be bothered.

I plan on getting an ultrawide and a telephoto zoom lens, what would you all suggest?
Ultrawide
>new ef-m 11-22mm for 325e
>used ef-s 10-18mm for 150e, I have a basic adapter
Zoom
>new ef-m 55-200mm for 250e
>used ef-s 55-250mm IS STM for 170e
If I'm better off with the ef-s ones I could even get the viltrox speed booster adapter for another 100.
>>
>>4025034
I wonder what will be the future of the EF-M mount? floating rumors of RF-S mount will be released with the R7 apsc.
>>
>>4025034
>ultrawide
EF-M lenses should have better image quality when wide/superwide due to the shorter flange distance.
>telephoto
For telephoto it doesn't make much of a difference, so you could go with a cheap EF 70-300 mm F/4.0-5.6 IS USM.
>speedbooster
Only works with FF lenses, so you could use it with EF lenses, but not EF-S lenses.

Half truth and half lie.

I want to get into photography as a hobby, specifically nature and landscape photography. I'm a complete beginner but I'm serious about it, so I'm ready to commit and spend up to around £1.5k on starting gear.
What camera and lens would you recommend for me? Do I need full frame? There's one retarded catch to this - I really like the retro aesthetic of cameras like >>4025238, so if the recommended camera has that look it'd be a nice bonus
>>
>>4025569
>Do I need full frame?
No but Im not going to lie to you like the micro penis sensor cucks and tell you that it wont help. You will not find any 1500 quid full frame that satisfies your aesthetic requirement. I have 2 recommendations for you.

>Canon EOS RP & Canon 16mm f2.8
This thing is the best value overall. About 1000 quid for the body and lens. Dont make the mistake of thinking all full frames are somehow magically amazing in low light. This things good, but its cheap for a reason. It's better than aspc, but its a bottom of the barrel full frame sensor. Still good, but you get what you pay for.
>Lumix S5 & Panasonic 24mm f1.8
This option is about £1750 all up for the body and the 24mm. I know it's a bit of a stretch of your budget but this thing can see in the dark. Incredible ISO performance. The only thing that trumps it is the a7sIII which is £3000 just for the body. If you're more into night time shots and astro photography, this thing is undeniably the best bang for the buck right now. Its on my own personal list, just waiting for a sale.

Now, if you really want to gimp performance for aesthetics and get something you like to look at, there's 2 options I can think of.

>Nikon Zfc & 28mm f2.8
This thing is more of a money grab by nikon than anything. It's essentially a z50 wrapped up in a retro body. Perfectly acceptable performance for a decent price. You should be able to find both the body and the pancake lens under 900 quid.
>Fuji XT3 & 16mm f2.8
Amazing colors, superior noise control, great film simulations. The pinnacle of apsc. About 800 quid for the body and 350-400 pounds for the lens. 1200 all up for an amazing setup. You could probably wait for a sale around mid-year during eofy and just about squeeze an XT4 into your £1500 budget.

In my personal opinion, I think you need to decide between a Fuji and the S5.

NOTE: I am australian using $aud and converting to £brtibong. Prices may be slightly different, but ballpark

Im the previous poster. Sorry >>4025569 , I fell into my own shooting habits of just using primes and forgot zooms altogether. Here's some recs including decent zooms. All previous info about the bodies still stand.

Full frame:
>Canon EOS RP & Canon 24-105mm F4-7.1 STM Zoom
You can actually get this in a kit combo for about 1200 quid. Its a decently sharp zoom but just remember, its not particularly fast, but you can still afford to add the 16mm within your budget.
>Lumix S5 & Panasonic 20-60mm f3.5-5.6
Once again you can find this in a combo with the body anywhere from £1500-£1700 but I would still strongly consider the 24mm prime I originally recommended if you're aiming to do night/astro because its significantly faster. You lose versatility for low light performance.

APSC:
>Nikon Zfc & Nikon 24-50mm F4-6.3 Zoom
I honestly cant recommend this. This kit zoom is just too slow for an apsc, but its the only zoom that will fit into your budget. It's here if you want to consider it. I'd strongly recommend the prime if you want to go with the zfc. You should be able to find the body and this lens for about 1100 pounds total. I highly recommend the Fuji below if you want a zoom.
>Fuji XT3 & Fuji 18-55mm f2.8-4
This is one of the best kit lens' ever made and for the price it cant be beat. Body about 800 quid and the lens, 250-300. Highly recommended. Decently fast. Pretty sharp for what it is. Built in stabilization. Amazing lens. You might be able to fit an XT4 into your budget if you went this route based on average prices (about £1000 body only).

If you want a zoom, this knocks the Nikon out. Not worth it in my opinion. Lumix falls behind in performance if choosing that zoom and sort of nullifies it's strength, as does the canon. Fuji however holds its own. I probably should have recommended that lens to begin with. My bad, hope the info helps.

The 18-55 is considered by many to be the best kit lens ever made. I have no experience with it because I'm a panny boy myself. I dont know where you shop but the price here is $499aud all day long, which is about 300 quid for the poster above, give or take a tenner.

Yes, the sigma is better on paper because it has a constant aperture all the way through but remember, it has no lens stability while the native lens does. This effectively nullifies the higher aperture at longer focal lengths because it allows for longer handheld exposure times, and if he paired it with an XT4 with ibis, even more so. The OIS in the lens will also allow him to get much steadier shots at the long end which could serve him better in the field.

I could only recommend that lens if paired with the XT4 with ibis and even then, doubling down on the stabilization with the native lens' OIS still seems like a better option.

$499 isnt a sale price and I can prove it. Go look up teds cameras australia and search for the lens there. You will find that its currently on sale for $425 discounted from the retail $499. If 499 was a sale price, why would it be discounted from that again? 499 is the rrp here, other ausfags will confirm. But that's beside the point. The question is, is it more expensive for a britfag? Only the poster asking for advice will know so he will have to make a decision based on that.

There are 3 technical cornerstones to photography. Aperture, shutter speed and ISO. They all control how much light hits your sensor and it's a balancing act between the 3, depending on the situation to get optimal results. Look up on youtube how each one works. Go to a thrift store or get on ebay and buy a cheap compact that you can adjust the 3 cornerstones on. Something made in the last 10 years. Spend no more than $50. Throw in an old sd card you have lying around and start shooting. This should take no longer than a month to fully comprehend.

Once youve got the technical aspect down, there are 3 more things you need to learn. Composition, editing and honing the eye. Composition concerns all things framing, subject matter and theme in your photos. Editing is obviously, the ability to manipulate your images in post processing to bring the best out in them. Honing the eye is just some bullshit I made up to describe the intuitive ability to be able to see photos before you take them, which will give you an idea in your mind what to shoot and how you want to set up the shot.

Literally just start watching youtube videos. Whether its gear reviews or shooting tips or straight up tutorials on how cameras work. Learn all the technical shit. Know what lens stability and ibis is, learn the difference between micro penis and full frame, understand the difference between primes and zooms, lens equivalence across different sensor sizes, constant and variable apertures and do research of what different brands and models have to offer and which you might like. It sounds complicated but its not. You just pick it all up in the process. Thats how most of us learned shit. Then, once youve done that, check out used options on ebay and come back and get feedback on it.
>>
>>4025989
Thank you, anon, that helps a lot.

I have an m43 camera, olympus em10 mark iii and I feel more and more disappointed with its' performance. I love how it handles and how small it is, but the pictures are always lackluster in detail.

Thinking of going entry level full frame - Nikon z5 maybe?
>>
>>4026128
Goddamnit, the micro cucks got another one. Fuck these micro penis cameras and everyone who uses them. I got an EM5iii recently and it was the most plastic piece of junk toy I ever used. Worse than any compact I have ever held. Sent that shit back. Junk company.

Z5 is solid. Definitely pick up the F to Z adapter and take advantage of that back catalogue. If youre interested in doing any kind of video, save up a little more money for Z6, S5 or A7iii.

Man I cannot choose between Canon Eos RP and Nikon Z5.

Nikon seems like the better choice and the higher price is no big deal, but I also want to get a 50mm lense and here's where the price goes crazy for nikon.

Z5 with a z 50mm 2.8 totals to 2k.
RP with an rf 50mm 1.8 totals to 1.3k.

700 extra does not seem to be worth it?
>>

The RF 50mm is complete garbage from 49 years ago. Might as well go with EF-mount if you like old lenses.

No, 700 extra is not worth it when you could buy a couple more varied lenses instead and expand your arsenal. At the end of the day, cheaper lenses will get 90% of the way there compared to pro lenses. Also, I know you want a 50, but the 40mm f2 z-mount is a bargain. I'd do either that or get the ftz adapter and grab the f mount 50mm f1.8. The autofocus on the native z-mount will probably perform better though, I'd look into it. Pic related in ausfag prices. The EOS RP and the 50 can be had with enough room for the 16mm wide as well for the same price as the nikon and either of those options, but, the nikon is superior. I'd give it a week to consider if youre not in a hurry. Start binging reviews and take all the pros and cons on board. Nothing worse than rushing a decision on something youre going to be stuck with for the foreseeable future.

I think you should look into the 40mm z-mount. Its better than I expected. Pic related. Certainly btfo the 50RF. People are only really complaining about the autofocus not being up to usual nikon standard. Ive seen some pics with it and it looks pretty good to me. Check it out on dpreview and flickr to see for yourself and start looking up youtube reviews. Seems like a good start. People here talk about buying a cheaper body and spending most of your budget on glass. I dunno I'd rather have a good, capable brand new body that I can get a decade of solid use out of and invest in glass over time.

Not at all, working on a good buzz though and it’s taking its time. Just saying, camera bags are thief fodder and some shitty looking personalized not!camera bag full of photographic chemicals in specially marked containers for professional use and some specialized cleaning tools and other implements that may or may not imply prima facie intent in a given jurisdiction make for a news article when someone "finds" it. It’s a neat thought experiment.

What kind of retard carries a camera bag but doesn’t carry a way to defend himself and his property? What kind of retard leaves their shit sitting anywhere?

With more and more people migrating to mirrorless cameras, do you think the prices of used DSLRs and lenses will drop anytime soon?
>>
>>4027494
all lenses drop in price with time, it's just extremely desirable/specialized/rare lenses will drop slower. poors will still buy older lenses to adapt so the lower end will never drop as low as pre-mirrorless levels. for instance, I bought a Vivitar Series 1 70-210 (Komine, so best version) for around $30 back when I first got my NEX-6. Now a lens in the same condition would be 3-5x that price easily.

Thinking now of getting something pocketable that I can bring anywhere without the need of a bag or so. Is the Ricoh GRIII a good option for that?

>>
>>4027541
it's definitely not polished and has a matte finish. the APS-C 50mm 1.8 OSS is a polished/brushed hybrid. The 55m is close to the 85mm in overall finish but feels a bit denser and has a tighter focus ring.
>>
>>4027605
>it's definitely not polished and has a matte finish
It gets that matte surface from polishing.

The other method is brushing, and leaves tiny scratches on the surface.

I want to get out of m43 and get a fuji, but man is it *really* worth it? I know it's not going to make me a better photographer, but I feel at this point that I do not like the process of photography at all and hoping it would revitilize the hobby.

Also I just developed a real real hate to my current camera. It's too small for my large hands snd I get wrist cramps from holding it too long. Autofocus almost never works to the point where I just focus on a point and reposition, making most of the photos slightly out of focus. I have to overexpose the photos since recovering anything from shadows is almost impossible, but then if I'd like to shoot in low light it's already struggling to gather any light. And I just really dislike the colours and how the photos come out - the only way I sometimes redeem the photos is by post processing it to shit and I'm not really a fan of editing heavily.

Also the sharpening is annoying, it's so unnatural and digital.

>>4027671
The 24mm is APS-C only and launched at $1100 ($100 more than the 55mm at launch) and is now selling for $800 new while the 55mm has been holding steady at $1K (a few sales down to $900) since its launch. If you're looking used the 24mm is a good $100-200 cheaper than the 55mm as well. I personally wouldn't bother with APS-C lenses due to how much they tank in value though. I bought my Sigma 16mm and 30mm f/1.4 on massive discount and I'd still barely break even if I sell them now.

Sounds stupid to me. If you want to experience something new, why settle for some halfway shit. You are complaining about shooting in low light so that means one thing. Go full frame so you can experience both extremes.

Whatever you do, dont listen to the guy above me telling you to buy a fuji. He didn't even read your post. I dont know what you've got but Im willing to bet you've got an olympus because pannys are nice and bulky in the hand and if you're complaining about wrist cramps, I bet you dont have an EM1 with the grip, that means, EM5 or 10. Am I right? Just dont buy a fuji. Those things arent much bigger than the EM5/10 and have pretty much the exact same grip. I like the idea of them with all the dials on top, but they are too fucking small for me. Feel like Im gonna break the damn thing.

I'd get a starter full frame if I was you and there are 2 that stand out right now

>Lumix S5 with the 20-60 f3.5-5.6 combo
>Nikon Z5 with the 24-70 f4 combo

Sit it out and wait for mid-year sales and pick one of those up in a combo with the zoom included. Great value in that. Then you can get a fast prime down the line and thats all you need really. If you wanna shoot any video go for the Lumix, but if you dont do any of that, either will suffice.

Here's your lens options if you decide to go full frame either S5 or Z5. All of these are great top tier options. Any one of these would be a great addition down the line to the kit lenses the cameras are bundled with.

If youre a landscape and nature kinda guy, I'd get a 24, but if you shoot any kind of wildlife, an 85 would be more useful. Really you really need some kind of a telephoto for that, but those are expensive for either system. If youre more into shooting people or specific singular subjects, the 85mm would be better for the more flattering focal length and compression. Depends what you shoot really but you probably already know all this. Hope i helped

Cameras capture luminance. Noise is noise.
For color they do so behind a bayer filter. That's where color comes from. There's nothing in a camera that inherently increases or decreases "chroma noise" because that's entirely somehting that's generated in the post processing.

If you shoot RAW you just want a camera with low noise. Stop watching faggots on youtube who are nothing but shills and psuedo-scientists. All the "low chroma noise" shit is literally just in-camera JPEG noise reduction post processing. If you're worried about noise you're probably not a JPEG shooter so stop worrying about it.

same. battery grips feel too big and bulky, so I just get the corresponding arca l-bracket with every camera I buy. and recently i found out RRS has L-brackets with QD ports, so it makes it super easy (and fairly expensive) to attach a nice strap to the l bracket. like pic, but has the full l bracket instead of just a plate. i've had an l bracket save a camera from a fall once so i always use one now.

Get that Oly EM1 MK3 with 12mm f2
>>
>>4029716
I was looking at getting the 12-40 f2.8 combo and getting the 8mm fisheye down the line because its weathersealed. That 12mm f2 isnt and Im talking like pouring rain vlogs. Im pretty weird. Also does olympus still split up videos into 3 minute segments? I looked into this in 2020 and people were complaining about it

>Also does olympus still split up videos into 3 minute segments?
Apparently yes. But you should still buy the 12-40mm combo then with either Em1 mark iii or Om system Om-1

Sony should make an updated R1 with something like 24-150mm and f/2-f/4 as a replacement for the RX10M2. Should be possible without much increase in size. That shit was seriously impressive for the time. Borrowed one from an uncle once and I had no idea what I was doing but I recall the photos came out looking quite good.

Is CIPA more conservative than real life usage? I ran out to buy a second battery as had a shoot coming up. Then took 850 odd shots and still had 36% battery remaining on first battery.

Build your perfect camera. I wanna hear your designs.

Mine will not be some retarded $15k high end piece of junk. We will be price:performance king and make a killing.

>Panasonic will be head of the entire project
They handle IBIS, lens stab, cooling solution, all the internal video features, battery and the body design itself. Internal fan to allow 10-bit 4:2:2 4k24 and 8-bit everything else. 4k60 5.9k sampled, 1080p120 200mbps, 1080p60 100mbps, all pal and ntsc options and everything else uncropped. 30min recording limits to avoid stupid taxes and keep the price down. All lenses and the body will be weather sealed by panasonic and 100% functional inside of a tropical cyclone.

>Fuji, Sony and Nikon make up the sensor and lens division
Sony's in charge of autofocus and will be working with Fujinon to develop super fast AF responsive lenses. A trio of primes, a kit zoom that the camera will be sold with and a telephoto will be developed. 20mm f1.4, 50mm f1.8 and a 75mm f2, a 20-50 f2.8-4 and a 100-400 f3.5-4. All lenses will have panasonic power OIS. We will call the mount xalphag.

Fuji is going to get help from Nikon fabs to build a 24MP xtrans full frame backlit sensor and it's going to be a collaboration of Nikon and Fuji color science. Sony is lending engineers to push the ISO performance so far in the dark its going to compete with infrared trail cams.

Olympus and Canon are playing with themselves in a corner.

The camera will be called the GXZ1 and will be $2000 and destroy literally everything.

Basically I’d merge A7r and A7 line into A7v and add a few things. I would add a way to use screen as tilt screen while keeping swivel mechanism from A7iv. The higher res vf etc. I’d also use a quad Bayer style sensor, since they can still be used as a normal Bayer sensor in full res mode too. Which is where the combined r and normal line come in. 33mp in normal mode, 132mp in autist mode.

I’d like to add a SSD vis usb C functionally like the Sigma Fp is it? Has. Raw video straight to ssd.

Honestly I’m not really sure in reality, there’s little I want over what I got already, maybe allow 10 fps in uncompressed raw mode for the ‘tism?

>Build your perfect camera. I wanna hear your designs.
fujifilm x-e4 with ibis and weather sealing, and more first party grips to let me go as slim or as deep as i want.
that's pretty much it. it's as close to perfect for me as can be.
>>
>>4030064
Alright boys. Here we go. No need to thank me. Here's the perfect camera.

>Canon
is designing the body. I want an EOS RP, exactly like the RP but bigger, a lot bigger, mainly to accommodate the bigger sensor, active cooling fan and the 5000mah nuke battery in the grip. No fucking top mounted stupid screens. Dials. All dials. Fuji dials. Fuck you.

>Olympus
is doing the weather sealing on body and lens. I want that shit to be dunkable underwater. Also they are in charge of ibis and the digital stab.

>Sony
is supplying the EVF and back panel. Fully articulating and fold out on a separate hinge. They are also doing autofocus. I want this shit to be able to lock onto a frogs eye from 2km away in the dark.

>Fuji
is supplying the sensor. Why improve what's already good? Grab surplus medium format fuji sensors and throw one of those in there after Sony's tuned it up a bit.

>Panasonic
is doing the lens OIS and all the menus and video features and if canon doesnt like it they can suck my fat tranny loving cock.

>Nikon
is making the lens. We're signing a legally binding document that is going to support the mount for the next 50 years. Who gives a fuck about who makes the lens honestly Im just giving this to nikon so they have something to do. Its all good shit. Here's what were doing. 20mm f1.8 wide and reasonably light for vlogging faggots, astro and nightscapes. 75mm f2 for portraits. 24-70 f2.8 kit zoom the camera comes with. All are weather sealed and ois. I dont give a fuck about anything else. Fuck you and your teles.

Camera is 5 grand and comes with a 10 year warranty. Please, preorders one at a time.

A Ricoh GR I/II (without the GR issues), XF10, RX100 sized pants pocket apsc with built in EVF (popup is ok), tilt screen, highly customizable menu and buttons, snap focus, water resistant, IS, Sony AF, built in flash (fixed and non tilting is ok), hot shoe, high IQ sensor good for low light even at iso 6400. Better if it can have interchangeable lens capability but I guess fixed 28 is ok.
>>
>>4030099
Sony has the world highest resolution EVF.

To the point where contrarian clickbait youtubers begged them to scale down or remove EVF entirely because they don't want to pay for all of that.

<-I want this EVF

I want it to have this feature:
https://youtu.be/A9muBcF_QPw?t=241
Can turn the camera in any direction without changing the exposure.
Can adjust the aperture to any value without changing the exposure.

And this feature:
https://youtu.be/0eFVoG4ETE8?t=91
Ultimate sharpness and togglable moire removal in camera.

And I want crosstype PDAF
https://www.gsmarena.com/sony_unveils_2x2_onchip_lens_tech_for_quad_bayer_sensors_which_promises_better_af_performance-news-40523.php

I want the battery in the Z9, it can store over twice the energy as a standard DLSR battery.

And I want high resolution sensor, but with dial that can scale down RAW with a high quality downscale algorithm.
It should have programmable settings as well, so whenever I insert an older lens with low resolution the camera automatically knows to scale down the resolution and save filesize.

Oh and it should have extra mini dials that let me input focal length value and aperture value to overwrite into EXIF. The focal length dial will link up the IBIS manual setting as well.

There we go, my perfect camera.

wtf is that....you mean pentax k70? Have you done zero research? Pentax literally have zero video features.

Depends on what youre shooting but I'd go olympus. em1mkii with the 12-40 combo is going for less in some places than the new em1mkiii body alone. Top tier weather sealing so you can hike with it in the rain. Amazing stab. Good solid autofocus that works even in low light, even if that micro penis sensor is gonna get noisy in low light, If youre looking at a K70, Im guessing you've got about a grand to spend so I really dont know what you're gonna do with that man.

Retardedly big 25mm flange. I think Even Canon and Leica's 20mm flange was bad enough.

But Sansung wasted 25mm of space in front of the sensor.
And they didn't evne fir in useful things like the AuroND electronic filter in the FS5.
It was wasted potential.

USN4 Pro vs ISDT NP2 chargers?

NP2
>takes multiple different Sony batteries, but I probably won’t make use of that
>But NP-FZ100 batteries have to be put in standing upright
>both slots can charge at 1.5A simultaneously

USN4 Pro
>only for NP-FZ100
>but batteries are placed laying down slotted in more secure, esp for car trips
>only 1.2A max for single battery or 800mA for two batteries

Both similar weights

Also watched a review stating you shouldn’t use the fast charge mode on batteries all the time with the ISDT etc, presumably due to battery long driving, but considering it’s 1.5A and the capacity is ~2200mAh, it’s charge rate is 0.65C which is below standard normal charge of 1C for li-ions p, isn’t it?
>>
>>4030468
Just take a usb C cable with you, and a wallplug to USB converter and charge from the camera overnight.

Battery capacity is at the point where you no longer need those specialist chargers unless you for some reason record hours of 4K video.
