I only have one lens, looking into getting another. Anyone have a setup with a 50mm and a 100-450mm? What do you do with each?
>>4024773Further to this. It's an awkward sized camera in that it's not that pocketable and too small for a neck strap so you either put it in a coat pocket and it's weighed down on one side or you awkwardly have it hanging from a strap. It ends up being just as annoying to carry as my Canon 6D...Might sell it for profit.

Casual here.I mostly use my m100 for travel photography, to have something decent looking instead of samey smartphone photos after going to places.Aside from the 15-45 kit lens, I only have the 22mm f/2 and a manual 35mm f/1.4 which I only occasionally use if I can be bothered.I plan on getting an ultrawide and a telephoto zoom lens, what would you all suggest?Ultrawide>new ef-m 11-22mm for 325e>used ef-s 10-18mm for 150e, I have a basic adapterZoom>new ef-m 55-200mm for 250e>used ef-s 55-250mm IS STM for 170eIf I'm better off with the ef-s ones I could even get the viltrox speed booster adapter for another 100.

>>4025216It's an advanced camera which is good enough for pros. Gget something cheaper, you fool. The X-t2 is perfectly good and will save you a grand.
>>4025236I am so glad I took you guys advice and picked up a used XT2. Im not a beginner beginner but its an amazing camera for the money. My starter dslr died and you guys save me so much money. Thanks bros.

Picked this leica m-e for 1100$ and voigtlander nokton classic for 200$, really love them. My best buy ever.
I have a Minolta AF-C that I really like, but I don't like the horizontal case that much. Unfortunately the strap holder looks really brittle so I don't want to carry it around on a neck strap from there, what would you guys recommend as a solution?
>>4024847I hope you bought all the lenses used at least. Cause there are not many 2000D's in the used market and that's a shitty camera

What would be a good full frame upgrade from m6 mkii?I like it but already notice i need better performance in low light and more lensoptions. Id stick to canon but maybe brand doesnt matter that much.
>>4025511Actually just read on canonrumors the m6 mkii is discontinued. What the fuck. Is it ogre for ef-m?
>>4025512lol it never even started, it was a dead end system designed solely to funnel you up to their fullframe offeringstruth of the matter is, if you want apsc, its fujifilm or bust
>>4025514>truth of the matter is, if you want apsc, its fujifilm or bustHalf truth and half lie.The other half is the fact that only Sony right now have 3 standard zoom lenses with F2,8 aperture.
I want to get into photography as a hobby, specifically nature and landscape photography. I'm a complete beginner but I'm serious about it, so I'm ready to commit and spend up to around £1.5k on starting gear. What camera and lens would you recommend for me? Do I need full frame? There's one retarded catch to this - I really like the retro aesthetic of cameras like >>4025238, so if the recommended camera has that look it'd be a nice bonus
>>4025569>Do I need full frame? No but Im not going to lie to you like the micro penis sensor cucks and tell you that it wont help. You will not find any 1500 quid full frame that satisfies your aesthetic requirement. I have 2 recommendations for you.>Canon EOS RP & Canon 16mm f2.8 This thing is the best value overall. About 1000 quid for the body and lens. Dont make the mistake of thinking all full frames are somehow magically amazing in low light. This things good, but its cheap for a reason. It's better than aspc, but its a bottom of the barrel full frame sensor. Still good, but you get what you pay for.>Lumix S5 & Panasonic 24mm f1.8This option is about £1750 all up for the body and the 24mm. I know it's a bit of a stretch of your budget but this thing can see in the dark. Incredible ISO performance. The only thing that trumps it is the a7sIII which is £3000 just for the body. If you're more into night time shots and astro photography, this thing is undeniably the best bang for the buck right now. Its on my own personal list, just waiting for a sale. Now, if you really want to gimp performance for aesthetics and get something you like to look at, there's 2 options I can think of.>Nikon Zfc & 28mm f2.8This thing is more of a money grab by nikon than anything. It's essentially a z50 wrapped up in a retro body. Perfectly acceptable performance for a decent price. You should be able to find both the body and the pancake lens under 900 quid.>Fuji XT3 & 16mm f2.8Amazing colors, superior noise control, great film simulations. The pinnacle of apsc. About 800 quid for the body and 350-400 pounds for the lens. 1200 all up for an amazing setup. You could probably wait for a sale around mid-year during eofy and just about squeeze an XT4 into your £1500 budget. In my personal opinion, I think you need to decide between a Fuji and the S5.NOTE: I am australian using $aud and converting to £brtibong. Prices may be slightly different, but ballpark
>Minolta 300mm f/2.8>with 1.4x converter>700€Is this a good deal? They seems pretty rare, it would go on my A-mount sony
>>4025569Previous poster seems fine but don’t meme yourself into buying a single prime for nature/landscape. Buy either a standard zoom or wide angle zoom depending on your preference.
>>4025615Im the previous poster. Sorry >>4025569 , I fell into my own shooting habits of just using primes and forgot zooms altogether. Here's some recs including decent zooms. All previous info about the bodies still stand.Full frame:>Canon EOS RP & Canon 24-105mm F4-7.1 STM ZoomYou can actually get this in a kit combo for about 1200 quid. Its a decently sharp zoom but just remember, its not particularly fast, but you can still afford to add the 16mm within your budget.>Lumix S5 & Panasonic 20-60mm f3.5-5.6 Once again you can find this in a combo with the body anywhere from £1500-£1700 but I would still strongly consider the 24mm prime I originally recommended if you're aiming to do night/astro because its significantly faster. You lose versatility for low light performance.APSC:>Nikon Zfc & Nikon 24-50mm F4-6.3 ZoomI honestly cant recommend this. This kit zoom is just too slow for an apsc, but its the only zoom that will fit into your budget. It's here if you want to consider it. I'd strongly recommend the prime if you want to go with the zfc. You should be able to find the body and this lens for about 1100 pounds total. I highly recommend the Fuji below if you want a zoom.>Fuji XT3 & Fuji 18-55mm f2.8-4This is one of the best kit lens' ever made and for the price it cant be beat. Body about 800 quid and the lens, 250-300. Highly recommended. Decently fast. Pretty sharp for what it is. Built in stabilization. Amazing lens. You might be able to fit an XT4 into your budget if you went this route based on average prices (about £1000 body only). If you want a zoom, this knocks the Nikon out. Not worth it in my opinion. Lumix falls behind in performance if choosing that zoom and sort of nullifies it's strength, as does the canon. Fuji however holds its own. I probably should have recommended that lens to begin with. My bad, hope the info helps.
>>4025639>This is one of the best kit lens' ever made and for the price it cant be beat.>$699Spoken from the fanboy shill perspective. That's actually way overpriced compared to he Sigma constant aperture.
>>4024847who gives a shit nigga are we supposed to judge your photography based on your gear?
>>4025642The 18-55 is considered by many to be the best kit lens ever made. I have no experience with it because I'm a panny boy myself. I dont know where you shop but the price here is $499aud all day long, which is about 300 quid for the poster above, give or take a tenner.Yes, the sigma is better on paper because it has a constant aperture all the way through but remember, it has no lens stability while the native lens does. This effectively nullifies the higher aperture at longer focal lengths because it allows for longer handheld exposure times, and if he paired it with an XT4 with ibis, even more so. The OIS in the lens will also allow him to get much steadier shots at the long end which could serve him better in the field.I could only recommend that lens if paired with the XT4 with ibis and even then, doubling down on the stabilization with the native lens' OIS still seems like a better option.
>>4025646>I dont know where you shopIt's not on sale in B&H or Adorama. >but the price here is $499audLiar.>Yes, the sigma is better on paperIn real life as well.

>>4025662It doesn't list the 3rd parties either. And your claim definitely does not match the other camera store I looked up at>>4025649Either way your argument depends way too much on sales and shops that are out of stock.Just a simple search on B&H shows you are completely wrong.
>>4025664$499 isnt a sale price and I can prove it. Go look up teds cameras australia and search for the lens there. You will find that its currently on sale for $425 discounted from the retail $499. If 499 was a sale price, why would it be discounted from that again? 499 is the rrp here, other ausfags will confirm. But that's beside the point. The question is, is it more expensive for a britfag? >>4025876Nah mate, I'm looking for cameras. So what fuji do you suggest?
>>4025863There are 3 technical cornerstones to photography. Aperture, shutter speed and ISO. They all control how much light hits your sensor and it's a balancing act between the 3, depending on the situation to get optimal results. Look up on youtube how each one works. Go to a thrift store or get on ebay and buy a cheap compact that you can adjust the 3 cornerstones on. Something made in the last 10 years. Spend no more than $50. Throw in an old sd card you have lying around and start shooting. This should take no longer than a month to fully comprehend.Once youve got the technical aspect down, there are 3 more things you need to learn. Composition, editing and honing the eye. Composition concerns all things framing, subject matter and theme in your photos. Editing is obviously, the ability to manipulate your images in post processing to bring the best out in them. Honing the eye is just some bullshit I made up to describe the intuitive ability to be able to see photos before you take them, which will give you an idea in your mind what to shoot and how you want to set up the shot.Literally just start watching youtube videos. Whether its gear reviews or shooting tips or straight up tutorials on how cameras work. Learn all the technical shit. Know what lens stability and ibis is, learn the difference between micro penis and full frame, understand the difference between primes and zooms, lens equivalence across different sensor sizes, constant and variable apertures and do research of what different brands and models have to offer and which you might like. It sounds complicated but its not. You just pick it all up in the process. Thats how most of us learned shit. Then, once youve done that, check out used options on ebay and come back and get feedback on it.
>>4025989Thank you, anon,that helps a lot.
I have an m43 camera, olympus em10 mark iii and I feel more and more disappointed with its' performance. I love how it handles and how small it is, but the pictures are always lackluster in detail.Thinking of going entry level full frame - Nikon z5 maybe?

>>4026132Man I cannot choose between Canon Eos RP and Nikon Z5. Nikon seems like the better choice and the higher price is no big deal, but I also want to get a 50mm lense and here's where the price goes crazy for nikon.Z5 with a z 50mm 2.8 totals to 2k.RP with an rf 50mm 1.8 totals to 1.3k.700 extra does not seem to be worth it?
>>4026433The Nikon 50mm is top quality with fill CA control. The RF 50mm is complete garbage from 49 years ago. Might as well go with EF-mount if you like old lenses.
>>4026433No, 700 extra is not worth it when you could buy a couple more varied lenses instead and expand your arsenal. At the end of the day, cheaper lenses will get 90% of the way there compared to pro lenses. Also, I know you want a 50, but the 40mm f2 z-mount is a bargain. I'd do either that or get the ftz adapter and grab the f mount 50mm f1.8. The autofocus on the native z-mount will probably perform better though, I'd look into it. Pic related in ausfag prices. The EOS RP and the 50 can be had with enough room for the 16mm wide as well for the same price as the nikon and either of those options, but, the nikon is superior. I'd give it a week to consider if youre not in a hurry. Start binging reviews and take all the pros and cons on board. Nothing worse than rushing a decision on something youre going to be stuck with for the foreseeable future.
>>4026433I think you should look into the 40mm z-mount. Its better than I expected. Pic related. Certainly btfo the 50RF. People are only really complaining about the autofocus not being up to usual nikon standard. Ive seen some pics with it and it looks pretty good to me. >>4027494all lenses drop in price with time, it's just extremely desirable/specialized/rare lenses will drop slower. poors will still buy older lenses to adapt so the lower end will never drop as low as pre-mirrorless levels. for instance, I bought a Vivitar Series 1 70-210 (Komine, so best version) for around $30 back when I first got my NEX-6. I want to get out of m43 and get a fuji, but man is it *really* worth it? I know it's not going to make me a better photographer, but I feel at this point that I do not like the process of photography at all and hoping it would revitilize the hobby. Also I just developed a real real hate to my current camera. It's too small for my large hands snd I get wrist cramps from holding it too long. Autofocus almost never works to the point where I just focus on a point and reposition, making most of the photos slightly out of focus. I have to overexpose the photos since recovering anything from shadows is almost impossible, but then if I'd like to shoot in low light it's already struggling to gather any light. And I just really dislike the colours and how the photos come out - the only way I sometimes redeem the photos is by post processing it to shit and I'm not really a fan of editing heavily. Also the sharpening is annoying, it's so unnatural and digital.

>>4027606bro it's fucking matte paint. there's no polish. also pretty interesting that the 55mm f1.8 and the APS-C 50mm f1.8 both have 49mm filter threads. >>4027671The 24mm is APS-C only and launched at $1100 ($100 more than the 55mm at launch) and is now selling for $800 new while the 55mm has been holding steady at $1K (a few sales down to $900) since its launch. If you're looking used the 24mm is a good $100-200 cheaper than the 55mm as well. I personally wouldn't bother with APS-C lenses due to how much they tank in value though. I bought my Sigma 16mm and 30mm f/1.4 on massive discount and I'd still barely break even if I sell them now.

>>4027676Get an X-T3. It's great.
>>4027676Sounds stupid to me. If you want to experience something new, why settle for some halfway shit. You are complaining about shooting in low light so that means one thing. Go full frame so you can experience both extremes. Whatever you do, dont listen to the guy above me telling you to buy a fuji. He didn't even read your post. I dont know what you've got but Im willing to bet you've got an olympus because pannys are nice and bulky in the hand and if you're complaining about wrist cramps, I bet you dont have an EM1 with the grip, that means, EM5 or 10. Am I right? Just dont buy a fuji. Those things arent much bigger than the EM5/10 and have pretty much the exact same grip. I like the idea of them with all the dials on top, but they are too fucking small for me. Feel like Im gonna break the damn thing. I'd get a starter full frame if I was you and there are 2 that stand out right now>Lumix S5 with the 20-60 f3.5-5.6 combo>Nikon Z5 with the 24-70 f4 comboSit it out and wait for mid-year sales and pick one of those up in a combo with the zoom included. Great value in that. Then you can get a fast prime down the line and thats all you need really. If you wanna shoot any video go for the Lumix, but if you dont do any of that, either will suffice.
>>4027676>>4027768Here's your lens options if you decide to go full frame either S5 or Z5. All of these are great top tier options. Any one of these would be a great addition down the line to the kit lenses the cameras are bundled with.If youre a landscape and nature kinda guy, I'd get a 24, but if you shoot any kind of wildlife, an 85 would be more useful. Really you really need some kind of a telephoto for that, but those are expensive for either system. If youre more into shooting people or specific singular subjects, the 85mm would be better for the more flattering focal length and compression.
