How do I trick my brain into not caring about the looks of my camera body? I got the x-s10 and it's technically the best fuji camera I own. The new film simulations are beautiful. And I love shooting handheld video with the IBIS. And the grip is nice. But because the camera doesn't have the rangefinder look like x-pro and x-e cameras, I'm thinking about returning it. When picking up my x-pro1 it "feels"/looks so much better, which is stupid af because ergonomically the x-s10 feels nicer, and still I prefer holding the x-pro1. Help.

I got paid and will buy a new lens tomorrow. Still can't make my mind about Fuji XF35mm f/2, Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 or Viltrox 33mm f/1.4. All go for around the same price locally.XF33mm f/1.4 is way above my budget I'm afraid. Already have 18-55mm f/2.8-4 on my X-T20.

Really not liking MF on the X-E2 with peaking. It’s like the peaking is too sensitive so I can’t be sure unless I magnify. My Sonys have had more reliable peaking. Might give the split focus a shot for a while
>>3958049I mean it's almost 9 years old and it was the mid-range model at the time. Can you pay with PayPal? >>3957977I've seen you say this in a few places, why does a few mm matter so much to you? The only thing I can think of is if you've mainly shot 50mm for years and the slightly different fl is enough to trip you out every time you look at your photos, but even that would go away with time.
>>3958051>Maybe comparing it side by side with a modern sony isn't it broMy old NEX-3 had better peaking
>>3958051>That sounds great to me, is it in good condition? Can you pay with PayPal?I can buy through the websites own payment system that increases the cost by a 5%. Otherwise it's a craigslist like meet and pay system. The listing claims its like brand new, minus the packaging.

Is the new XF 33mm f/1.4 really any less magical than the old 35mm f/1.4?They're both obviously good lenses. If there's any difference in magic between the two I'm pretty sure it comes from the photographer, not the lens. I'm thinking of getting the newer just for the weather sealing.Pic related is one of the official sample images for the 33mm.
>>3958325Here's Leica's take on the same thing with the Summilux-TL, which we are to believe has five times the magic, but they went and wasted it on a snapshit.
I love the xtrans 2 raws, but the fucking bracketing dial is literally useless and I fucking hate changing iso with the menus. Is it worth selling my x-t10 and get an x-t1?
Good morning all.
I know Viltrox lenses aren't as good as Fuji ones but those prices are really attractive not gonna lie.Dissuade me from getting the 56/1.4 for $330 when Fuji's 50/2 costs 450, 56/1.2 $900 and 50/1 costs $1500. How bad could it be?
>>3958502ill dissuade you. get the ttartisans 50mm 1.2 for a third of the price of the viltrox. easy. or there are also tons of vintage 50mm lenses to adapt
>>3958503Not available in my country. 7artisans' 50mm/0.95 also seem like an interesting piece of equipment but not available either.

>>3958511honestly unsure between the xf18mm/f2 and the 27mm/f2.8 wr? I think if I got a 35 I would go for the f1.4, I don't know any good non fuji lenses with this mount but it would be nice to not have to use an adapter or use the default TC that fuji makes, I don't care too much for AF but there are Samyang lenses which support it. is the XF200mm OIS not amazing/magic? Fuji is really trying their best to bring new things
>>395850250 f2 is pretty amazing
>>3958512Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 Nokton X mount

I'm a total beginner and want to buy fuji as my first camera (used), and with my limited budget (under 600 usd) I'm thinking to choose between x-t200 and x-t20. One question, why x-t200 price dropped so much despite it only being introduced in 2020? I even saw a used x-t20 body listed at higher price than used x-t200 body.
>>3958620Oh also, one more question. I see that x-t20 has no anti-alias (low-pass) filter. Does it really increase the sharpness (and I'm wondering if it's better)?
>>3958620>>3958623The X-T200 doesn't have the Xtrans sensor, instead having a boring old bayer CMOS sensor. Fuji nerds don't want anything that isn't Xtrans. The X-T2, X-T20 and X-E3 all have the same sensor (Xtrans 3) and photographic capabilities, I'd say buy whichever one is the cheapest, if image quality is the priority. If it isn't, pick the one with the features you want.IMO the previous generation Xtrans2 cameras render an image that's more to my liking. Check them out too, X-T1, X-T10, X-E2 and X-E2s are all still great.
>>3958507cant you buy it off ebay? there should be sellers from china that ship international, but not sure if they ship everywhere. also i think the 0.95 isnt as good
>>3958502The value equation shifts when you realize viltrox's are both harder to sell AND don't keep their value as well as Fuji lenses. If you treat your gear well, you could buy a used 35 f2 and sell it 2 years later for what you paid. I would always go with the Fuji option, unless you're looking at something special like the 18-300 tamron or the Laowa macro lens that was being talked about in the last thread.
>>3956191Why Fuji? What makes it special than other cameras? Please do tell.
>>3957884because f1.4 from 3 ft away requires constant focus adjustment on moving subjects, for example
>>3958746shit, f2 I mean
>>3958723They're fun to shoot. Get one. Or don't. We don't care either way lol
>>3958723For it was wanting a APS-C for light weight, and only Fuji is the only one that treats the format seriously rather than a stepping stone to fool frame.
>>3958623>has no anti-alias (low-pass) filter. Does it really increase the sharpness (and I'm wondering if it's better)?xtrans sensor means you don't need a low pass filter

>>3958636>>3958770Thanks, I'll check it. Any affordable third party prime lenses that good for the money? Something like 35mm or 50mm. is Kamlan a good brand?
>>3958776oh, I also just noticed kamlan only has 21 f1.8 28mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.1 here. I'm looking a prime lense that will give good bokeh. should I pick 50mm one?
>>3958711the 18-300 tamron is such an interesting lens to me tho i don't doubt it's for people who just wanna take one lens everywhere
>>3958766fuji also treats it seriously and offers good range of lenses and doesn't cap features like canon and nikon do, their lenses aren't wallet removal like sony
>>3958671Can order one via amazon.com for $154 with customs & shipping included.I just don't know what to do with all these options. I kinda agree with >>3958711 as the Fuji lenses seem to retain their value real good, especially the older ones.Found a listing for 50mm/f2 for about $240, with its box and warranty. I like my 18-55 but borrowing my cousin's 35mm/f2 rather spoiled me for the sharpness and low light performance with its wider aperture is rather obvious.
>>3958777kamlan 50mm 1.1 both v1 and v2 has issues, i wouldnt get it. i would recommend ttartisans 50mm 1.2 and 7artisans 35mm 0.95. i have looked ay a fair bit of reviews for these too, and i have both. if you want wider, get pergear 25mm 1.8a thing about bokeh, its not just about the f stop. there are tons of lenses, vintage ones too that give amazing bokeh at 2 or 2.8, it's about the lighting too

>>3958546Idk, never had viltrox 56, but fuji 50 f2 is near flawless performer. Not so long ago it was sharpest lens on a system. Already great at f2, and even better f2.8. 0 problems with CA, coma or distortion. You combine it with very small size, great build quality and weather sealing and it is lens that's hard to put down.
>>3958794You're really convincing me anon, especially now that I can get the lens for only $240 provided someone else doesn't grab it before I do. I can also get XF35 F1.4 for $310.It will be my first prime on X-T20.

>>3959129most old zeiss lenses are absolutely amazing, the flektogon would probably be the same. usually i google search the lens + "site:mflenses.com", that forum has tons of great advice and sample pics around vintage lenses. when i said wide/super wide lenses i meant < 20mm or <24mm, so 35mm is definitely finenever buy a vintage lens that has haze, fungus or separation (a little fungus may be ok ONLY IF you know how to clean it and remove it properly). make sure the aperture and focus ring arent too stiff and there isnt oil leaking from the aperture and you are good to go
Nervous first time poster. I just recently got into photography and went with an XE-1 and a 18-55mm lens and I'm just kinda lost on where to start. I shoot at my job and the local mountains and I'm trying to read some books but any recommendations are welcome.

>>3959726>I've owned one for nine months now and I think it will be remembered as a modern classic.Meh. A modern classic is ephemeral.
>>3959726tried one in Best Buy today and they have massively improved the fit and finish of that line since the first X100

A few weeks ago I bought a second hand X-T2 for a really great price, I'm in love with it so far. Thanks to the 27mm pancake I can carry it in my backpack at all times for daily street photography. The 50mm f2 is great for portraits. I also have an adapted EF mount Samyang 135mm f2 from my previous astrophotography kit.I am thinking of selling the Samyang 135 and buying the Fuji 18-135 (450€) as a versatile lens for "general nature photography" (landscape is too big a word for what I do). Buying the 50-230 and a wide angle prime would probably offer a better value but after some recent outings I have developed an appreciation for the idea of not having to swap lenses.
>>3959862Bruh, samyang 135 is almost perfect optical performer. Why would you sell that and buy some mediocre super zoom?
>>3959886Don't get me wrong I love that lens, but having a limited budget for photography I also have to consider versatility, size and weight.
>>3959230It's just fine on the X-T2, love mine and never encountered any problems.>>3959862Don't buy the 18-135, I fell for the meme and now I spend my days perusing /fag/ dissuading others from making my mistake.

>>3960280Buttons and dials are the reason I gravitated towards Fuji so I would, personally, get the X-T30 or the X-T2/3. Slightly better sensor and autofocus means little to me but I’m not everyone and your opinions could drastically differ from mine. >>3960368Glad you were pleasantly surprised, I think I was a bit confused because manual focus has been good enough for me but alls well that ends well. I’m a 35 f1.4 shill so naturally I’d go that way, but I understand it’s downsides and the f2 is the better option for some people. I’d try both if I could though, to make an informed decision but that’s not always easy so do your own research first. >>3960453What pulls you towards Fuji? If you’re not interested in manual controls and other things Fuji does well you might be better suited towards an XS10 or a compact Sony/Canon. Fuji X10 is all you need. Save your money. It's good enough for Daido Moriyama.
>>3960563It's soft at f1.0 and only starts getting sharp around f 2.8 but that's expected. It captures all the detail just fine wide open so upping the contrast during editing can counter it. >>3960568The bokeh looks pretty though. How is the AF? How does it compare to the 56/1.2?
>>3960569Yeah the bokeh is really smooth. The AF is hit and miss. For the amount of glass being moved, it isn't bad. Eye detect works well enough. Hell, it picked up the toy robot's eyes flawlessly so I can't complain. I know the focusing motor on the 50 f1.0 is newer than the one in the 56 f1.2, though it still isn't a linear motor. >>3960698>>3960700Not really. Depends on what you need it for. For portraits it's amazing. The bokeh is really unparalleled. I paid over 2000 canuck bucks for it but that's because I bought it brand new. Honestly if you just need a versatile all rounder 50mm lens, get the F2. >>3962577>Never use th 2x teleconverter, get the 1.4x insteadToo big of a hit on image quality, then?I looked through my pictures from before I switched to Fuji, filtered on focal lengths greater than 196mm, and there weren't many that were all that important to me. Some birds and other wildlife, but I don't really have the patience to take wildlife photography seriously. There are some landscapes as well, but most of them would have benefited from both being wider, and from having the kind of image quality you get with the 50-140mm. The same can honestly also be said for stuff I've shot between 140mm and 196mm. I always wanted more reach, but did much better work at the short telephoto end. Also some of my favorite photos are landscape and architecture between 50 and 55mm. I didn't have anything between the kit 18-55mm and a 70-300mm, but I think I think that would have come in handy.Seems like a pretty strong case for the 50-140mm, and when bundled with the 1.4x TC (or skipping the TC) it brings the price down to less than the 56mm + 70-300mm combo.
Any Viltrox users here? 56mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 look compelling at their price points.

I'm no prime snob, but sometimes it's nice to not have the big honker on the front of the camera, particularly for travel and blending into crowds.I have a 35mm f1.4 but need something wider to go with it. Would you go with the 23mm f2 or the 18mm f2? I have a lot of travel photography shot at both of those focal lengths with a zoom, so either would be used extensively. The 18mm is nice for this use case because it's a pancake. But the 23mm is weather sealed, which comes in handy when visiting rainy places. On the other hand you can crop a picture taken with the 18mm to 23mm, but you can't reverse it from 23mm to 18mm.Another pancake is the 27mm f2.8 which is weather sealed, but it feels awfully close to 35mm, so it doesn't bring that much else to the table.
>>3963902There is a big difference between 18mm and 23mm focal length, but both are easy to compose with. 18mm is the typical smartphone view but it's also a very old lens and from what I read it's slowish and noisy. The 23mm is newer, very fast and quiet.. plus WR. I wish they would bring a second gen of the 18mm F2 with WR and fast AF. Would be an instant buy for me. Do you keep your 35mm? If not then I would go with the 23mm. If you keep it give the 18mm a try.. maybe buy used and sell again if you don't get warm with it. If you want wider but with WR, fast and quiet.. then maybe the 16mm f2.8 would be an option too. But 16mm is another story.. way more difficult to compose
How many Fuji X lenses do you own? I'm planning my next purchases trying to keep that number as small as possible. I want to shoot landscape and some portraits.- a walkaround lens (either 18mm or 27mm)- a portrait lens (50mm f2)- a telephoto zoom (50-230)- a wide angle lens for landscape - but which one? The 10-24 seems like the obvious choice but maybe a 12mm prime alone would be sufficient, leaving more money in my pocket to travel to nice locations.[EXIF data available. Question from a photography noob: why is Fuji the only brand that gets its own appreciation thread? Are they undervalued? Do they do something special?
>>3964707Because they have some quirky ways of doing things relative to other manufacturers, and so they attract trolls around here, so there’s more of an impulse to circle the wagons.
>>3964707The cameras themselves are FUN and interesting so the owners are enthusiastic. Anyone is welcome to make an appreciation thread for their manufacturer of choice.
I’m shooting an x100v and somewhat new to this. If I want something completely sharp across the frame (no bokeh), I know I should stop down to f8 or f11, but what other settings will I need to change?
>>3964773I think you mean to have everything in focus (which means no bokeh) rather than completely sharp (sharp images refer to how 'clear' it is to see detail). Look up hyperfocal distances calculators. Essentially you want as much of what you are photographing to be as similar distance to the camera as possible, while being stupid something like f5. 6 or f8 (f11 introduces diffraction and will lower the sharpness a little, but you can use it). Like, if you are taking a photo of a wall, it's flat and will be the same distance to the camera so nothing will be out of focus. That's different if you were in a forest, where the ground can be 1m from your camera, and trees will be at lots of different distances so some parts will be out of focus
Thinking about getting a X100V.I'm looking for the vintage rangefinder experience, ideally 50mm equivalent, but 35mm is fine too.I mostly do street, documentary style photo, so I want something pretty compact as well. Any thoughts on this, are there better options than the x100v?

>>3964086Only a 16mm 1.4 and a 50mm 1.0 at the moment. And if it counts, the 23mm lens on the x100v
>>3964086XF16-80mmF4XF35mmF1.4XF8-16mmF2.8Need some time recovering financially from the last one, but I might get the XF50-140mmF2.8 next.
When will this lens shortage madness end in Europe
>>3967976You can on the Xt-4 I think
>>3969098Awesome photo anon, it's inspiring me
>>3964086>23mm f/2>35mm f/1.4>50 f/2I want to get the 10-24mm (or Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 if that comes to X-mount) and I'm thinking of selling my 23 f/2 to fund itEventually I also want to get a telephoto zoom like the 70-300mm
>>3969261>>3967976Try setting the touch control to AF (pic related) It works on x100v, but I can't get it to work on my Xt4[EXIF data available. >>3969807>>3969808Do you use Gimp for processing?Nice photos, have fun with the camera
>>3969868Thanks, I just used gimp to resize.I usually edit with rawtherapee, and then gimp if I need to remove ugly shit like cables etc.But I'm thinking of trying lightroom now, I've been going the poorfag way for too long with free software and old nikon dslr with kit lens.
>>3958493what kind of gear are you using
Eurobros, is Capture One Pro worth it for 170€? How often does it get discounted and can I hope to score a lower price within the next few months?
>>3969974I just DL a pirated version.
>>3969974use rutracker to torrent it, it's the only public tracker that I trust to download software from since it's so well moderated
thoughts on the x-t30? it's way over priced at the moment but I've been waiting for a year and it's only been getting more expensiveis there another older fuji camera that I should consider that would have most of the modern film simulations?
>>3970028>older camera>most of the modern film simulationsI guess you know the answerWhich ones are you after specifically? I rarely use them; the X-T20 already offers all the ones I would have ever wanted to use except for Eterna
>>3970118>Which ones are you after specifically?I don't know really, just all the most common ones so I can use recipes I find on the internet. Also fear of missing out.I have no interest in editing, everything will be SOOC for meby "older" I meant something like the x100t and x100f which are both cheaper second hand than a brand new xt30
