Since security niggers everywhere fear the Chad DSLR, what is the best compact camera that matches the quality and custom settings of a dslr?
>>
If discretion is key, just use your phone camera.

Phone cameras fucking suck.
>>

not anymore they don't. If you want a nikon coolpix camera then just buy one. You don't need anons to help you justify your purchase because you are afraid of talking to other humans.

I feel like we have 3 to 5 compact camera recommendation threads active at any given time. Everyone just buy a Ricoh GRIII for fucks sake.
>>
>>3919582
This is why I went with the amber brown Nikon Z fc. I knew if I got the black standard one I would regret missing my chance at a rare camera that wasn't solid black or gray. That green Ricoh looks awesome, I didn't know it existed either

Actually I was looking for something that isn't high end, just the best value for a side camera when paranoid faggots dont let me use the professional one. Something within the $300-600 range.

xf10, if you know what youre doing, good sensor, silent mode
grii, if you know what youre doing, silent mode, screen off. sensor and hardware are getting quite old
rx100 iii onwards, optical zoom, silent mode, evf on/screen off function, v/va have pdaf
zs100 or other panasonic 1 inchers
rx0 i/ii, if you know what your doing, smallest of them all.
>>
>>3919263
sony rx100, ricoh GXR, ricoh GRII or III
>>
>>3919691
The GR is not quiet silent but the leaf shutter is inaudible in 90% of situations. My a6400 is *actually* silent (but you can't always shoot in silent mode, e.g you'll see artifical light flickering inside if you time the shutter wrong, plus there are issues at high shutter speeds with silent shutter), agree with the rest though
>>
>>3919692
>>3919691
Wouldnt a HX-80 be a better option?

you're allowed to have that opinion. and hey, if you do, save some money and get one, there's nothing making you get the x-e4.

thats probably phone sensor size territory. I'd stick to at least a 1 inch sensor and above. also, its mostly the cameras with largest plus newest sensors that will have better lowlight performance.

Just get a ricoh gr i or ii (they're the same minus the wi-fi on the i). To me the sensor and colors are still hard to beat, love mine to death.

I dont really need a professional compact camera, just a cheap but decent snapshitter. I don't have money to waste $1200 on a camera i'll only use to sneak past guards.

I would suggest a used Canon G series point and shoot. You could get something like a G10 or G11 for around 100 dollars. Pic related, the small sensor isn't ideal but they take pretty decent photos. Good colors and good meter.

I hate these fucking threads so much. At least once a week we have one of you jokers show up. “Hurr durr I want a camera that takes DSLR quality photos but fits into my pocket!! No i wont use a smart phone!!”. Look dude flagship smartphones take photos 80% as good as a high end point and shoot, and you get to walk around with the best phone available. You are more than welcome to piss away you money on a compact camera. Its your life and your wallet. But everyone here will tell you that its just not worth it. Either you bring your giant brick DSLR/mirrorless with you, or just use your phone. The only niche use for high end point and shoots/compact cameras is if you need waterproof/shatter resistant for outdoor stuff. If you just want to take upskirts of women or whatever it is you do, just use your brand new smart phone
>>
>>3920324
Fuji x10s are pretty inexpensive desu and they have good sensors. Build quality isn't great though.
>>
>>3920457
>everyone here will tell you that its just not worth it.
no they won't. shut up and fuck off phonecuck. go make a phone call or post on tiktok or something. play clash of clans. piece of shit.
>>
>>3920457
Absolutely wrong, smartphones lens are smaller than point-and-shoots, and everyone knows that image quality is directly linked to how big your lens is.
>>

What are you shooting that you have to do this??
>>
>>3919263

Get an old enough camers that its age is disarming and heartwarming. TLR is a great example, they look old timey and quirky enough that nobody suspects youre taking anything shady. You literally get people coming to you on the street, wanting you to take their picture.

Where?
>>
>>3920548
I live in the dictatorship shithole of El Salvador. Free press is banned now and journalists harrassed. Anyone owning a DSLR is taken for a journalist.
>>
Now i know why people buy fuji.
>>
>>3920647
ugh are you that dude I helped pick a DSLR a couple months ago looking at Salvadorean classifieds?
>>
>>3920559
It's fun initially but gets old pretty quick, unless you want to practice portraiture with random people. Then there's the issue of spending over two dollars per shot if you factor in the cost of film and development. Still, you are definitely correct in people feeling more comfortable and less hostile getting their picture taken, but it makes it tricky to get any sort of candid street shots.
>>
>>3920774
Yeah. Now i only use it at home. Still love it.

The III has dust removal via shaking the sensor. It's configured to run on start up and shutdown. I haven't seen any dust in my pics yet but I'm 1 month in so give it time.

for some, yes. also some experience the gr3 control dial menu skipping issue during turning.
