I just bought the Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4 and I've taken it out twice so far so I'll post my favourite photos here. I initially bought my XT-3 with a zoom lens, and I had forgotten the magic of prime lenses. I'm really enjoying the 35mm lens on my crop sensor! Feel free to comment, critique, wormpost, and post your own photos. I'm feeling inspired.

I bought this lens after work and then I immediately went for a walk around a lake in town which is surrounded by houses and popular for watersports. The sun was setting as I arrived, making for a nicely coloured sky and pleasant lighting across the lake and its shore.

Bokeh. I haven't captured anything like this since my only other Fuji lens is the XF 16-80 f/4.0. If I zoom to 80mm and get right up in your face it produces bokeh, but nothing as pearly as what you see here. I'm happy to have a fast lens for this camera.

I liked the complimentary colours of the house and it's orange window, but I think this may be the weakest photo from my first time out with this lens just due to its plainness. What do you think?

This photo is trash, and YOU are also trash for using "bokeh" wrong. Lenses don't "produce bokeh." By that stupid, misunderstood mechanic, ANY lens could "produce bokeh" by just unfocusing it and snapping a million out-of-focus photos. Wow, so much bokeh. What am I gonna do with all this bokeh???

It's called isolating your subject or using a thin depth of field. Not "lens make bokeh go brrrr" you braindead zoomer.

I like these much better than your other ones, but I don't think you got the colors right in >>3825686. I almost recognize the film simulation. Classic Neg? Just use your own taste to balance the colors in post instead. This shit looks like it was taken on expired film and it is distracting.
>>
>>3825683
Did you edit this at all, or just use a Fuji filter? Fuji pictures always look like they were taken after the sunrise, but before anyone has left for work. Can't lie, I love that feeling.

They're all .RAF files edited in Lightroom so I'm not quite sure what you're saying. I think I was shooting in Velvia (vivid) at the time. I don't worry about the film sim much when I'm shooting because I always edit raw files then export to jpeg.

Here's the last shot I took on my first day of owning the lens. The sky was really glowing so I tried to capture that.

I tried Iridient and for the life of me I couldn't see any difference in the details. I tried the free version of CaptureOne too but I haven't had time to learn how to use the UI.

Walking down alongside the port authority there was a B-train trailer getting loaded or sprayed with something that blew off steam into the cold air. Does anyone have suggestions on how to photograph steam or fog? I tried to capture it in this shot.

The UI is so unfamiliar and lately I feel like I'm learning more advanced techniques in Lightroom. Plus I'm able to make photos I'm happy with and never see problems with the sharpness or details of my photos.

The ocean was so still that morning. I crept by some homeless encampments to get out to the shore where I took this shot.

This "bridge" to nowhere was used for loading cargo off of trains and onto ships or vice versa I guess. I liked all the leading lines and geometry.

I love the lens so far! I got it for $650 CAD brand new and don't regret it at all. I considered getting the f/2.0 for the weather resistance paired with my XT-3's, but I wanted a really fast lens. Now I want to get the 23mm f/2.0 since I'm more likely to take that out in the rain when I'm hiking. I also researched and compared the Viltrox equivalents but I wanted the Fuji OEM "magic" that I've heard about.

This morning I used classic chrome in every shot. Give me some specific pointers to make the colours more pleasing to you.

I got up to the top of the parkade and managed to get a picture of the mountain that I'm happy with. After this I went and did some other shit without my camera! Thanks for attending and viewing my best efforts and thanks especially of you commented and contributed to my threads liveliness.

I had the same experience on my old canon T5i with its 18-55 kit lens. I bought a 50mm f/1.8 and it was awesome to have a fast lens. I'm happier with my new 35mm lens though. 50mm on a crop was great for capturing small section of scenes but 35mm seems much more versatile.

I really don't get why they don't sell more cameras with a 35/50mm as the kit. My dad bought an Olympus OM-1 back in the day bundled with a 50mm 1.8 so I know they used to bundle them with cameras.

The benefit of a zoom lens is way overstated. I'd prefer having more light and sharper images to be honest.

I inherited an OM-1 with a zuiko 50mm f/1.4 from my granddad. I bought an adapter for my Fuji x mount but I've only taken the lens out once and it was in very low light.

Love your colors and compositions. Do you find the lens has decent enough auto focus? I want either the 1.4 or the 2.0 and I cant decide.
Pic related is with the XF 27mm. Doesn't have shit for depth of focus but it keeps my XH1 small enough i can still fit it in (big) jacket pockets and its real sharp.
>>
>>3826679
So far I'm finding the focus is very fast and accurate on my XT-3. I've heard it's a bit slower on older models though.

You realize 35mm is just a aspect ration right?

>The 35 mm format, or simply 35 mm, is the common name for the 36×24 mm film format or image sensor format used in photography. It has an aspect ratio of 3:2, and a diagonal measurement of approximately 43 mm.

...He's shooting with a 35mm lens, dude. He's not talking about the film format.
>>
>>3826867
OP is CLEARLY talking about lenses of a 35mm FOCAL LENGTH. If you thought he was talking about 35mm film: you are retarded. If you are talking about crop factor and the fact that a 35mm is closer to a 50mm: you are still retarded, just slightly less so. OP's first post is literally about the XF 35mm f/1.4.
