I had a 450D, it was awesome.
Replaced it with a Sony A65 when they first came out (OMG 24 mechapickles!) and it still gets a lot of use. The tracking focus on it is pretty hit-n-miss, but I can take a series of 20 shots of a race bike coming towards me at 200+ kph and they'll all be in focus. Pretty good.

On the old side of things, I have this arriving tomorrow. Should be fun I think.
Seems sturdy and cheap enough that I should be able to throw it in my pack when I go hiking without it getting damaged, and cheap enough that I won't cry if it does.

Not if you can find somewhere that still does it!
NZ converted to Euro bucks:
$7.50 for a roll of decent film
$10 to develop
$35 for the camera and shipping
(probably cheaper there, everything is more expensive in NZ.)

They seem a cool little camera. Just bought it because I thought it looked sturdy.
Since learned the viewfinder is purely to frame the shots - focus you have to guess between a range dial and aperture ha ha this will be a learning curve!
Didn't arrive today, hopefully tomorrow morning.

if you are fine with black and white, you could probably do it yourself

if the only thing you care about, is getting it done for cheap, you could get the cheapest bw film around 4-5 eur (foma 100,200,400)

some cheap fixer (foma, 3-4 eur/lit here 1+5 ratio so 5liters)
these are the consumables

a few dark containers (could use olive oil bottles and stuff)
a big measuring bottle 1l (dont use your kitchen one, the chems are not food, get new one(s))

forgot price/roll: at least 60 cents, 2 euros is a more realistic one, so around 6-7 eur/roll with film
without the equipment using the powdered dev
~50 cents for dev (10 roll / 5 eur)
~10 cents for fixer (~40-50 roll /4 eur)
and you might what to use a wetting agent less than a cent (250ml/5,5 eur; 5ml /lit)
so considering you'd go bonkers and use all the chem's its really cheap (all chems calculated with max capacity)

also for hanging your negatives you could use a hanger, and clips

You'd have to flip that little lever that would be there up and then turn it to disengage that little metal tab you see on pic related. The tab works like a key. So I guess you have to find something to stick into that hole and you should be good to go.

Just back from picking up some film in NZ.
Evidently there’s a national shortage. They had 2 rolls of 400 colour, they reckon the last 2 Kodak had, and couldn’t get anything from Fuji.
And they were 50% more than usual.
So basically 1 roll of film I don’t want left in my town for the next couple of months they reckon.
Ah well.
