It's nice to see this thread, I have few questions
So I want to buy my first drone and I'm looking for something relatively cheap, up to 90 € / $106 and I found these two chinese drones and they seem to have good specifications with relatively cheap price.
HGIYI G11 and SG706.
Is any othem them worth it? If not, what else could you recommend?
>>
>>3757500
If you're looking between them: SG706
It's got brushless motors, and the other doesn't. That's the most important thing in cheap drones. Motor life is a lot longer with brushless motors.
>>
>>3757512
>It's got brushless motors
Or so this site says:
https://www.igeekphone.com/sg706-4k-rc-drone-review-a-dual-camera-optical-flow-positioning-image-follow-app-gesture-control-foldable-quadcopter/

It does look a bit dodgy site, so I'm not sure if it's completely reliable. But main point is to get brushless motor. They're cheap enough now, so it's possible to find them for your budget.
>>
Waiting for the DJI Mini 3 because I want the ‘follow me’ feature. Can’t be fucked learning to fly a drone myself.
>>
>>3757500
Look on YouTube. The video will most likely be low garbage. Cheap drones that are good, a few of the Hubsans, the Fimi X8 SE, all cost more than that though.
>>
Honestly thinking hard about the mini 2 because it has DNG now. The price In Aus is more than US which is a shit (after conversion).
>>
>>3757723
better jump on it quick. guarantee that puppy is gonna sell out within two weeks.
>>
>>3757729
Aus. I don’t mind waiting. I’m just unsure because it’s over $900 for flymore kit. Obvs I want the remote and don’t want to slowly use phone control app.
>>
God, I wish this guys making the husband, Fimi etc drones used those larger phone sensors coming out, like the 1/1.7” and 1/1.3” ones
>>
I almost never use my magic air. It can be kind of a hassle especially as the batteries seems to lose charge pretty quickly when they're not in use. Also always still worried it'll break or get lost
>>
>>3757907
nah depends on how they are stored. the batteries are fairly robust.
>>
>>3757917
Not sure what to tell you, but it seems like every time im going to use it the batteries are near dead even though i havent used them since the last time they were charged. They just sit on a shelf in my office.
>>
>>3757907
Buy a cheap drone and practice on it. Battery thing is normal. Dji batteries discharge to about 50% when not in use. Supposedly that increase their longevity.
>>
>>3757790

Entry level budget drone? Pls
>>

I'm a fan of the Mavic Mini, but it seems more like a tool for videography. The lack of raw files is a bit frustrating. I would not use the drone of professional photography (probably not even videography). It's a fun and easy drone to fly, and I feel like it really shines when shooting video.

Here's a video I made over the course of a month of my hometown.

>>3758220
at this point just go for a Mini 2 for the 4K and RAW support

This. I got fucked and bought a Mini1 over the summer hoping RAW would be added via firmware at some point. Now I'm trying to figure out if I should offload my Mini for either the 2 or the Air 2. I'll probably hold off since the weather is going to be shit for flying for a few months now anyways.

Random shot from the Mini1 over the summer.

I think the air uses the li phosphate batteries that are intended to self discharge for storage. There's a setting to define the days until it self discharges.
>>
>>3757936
The hubsan and Fimi are good tho. Just more like full Mavic size rather than mini. Dji is also chink
>>
>>3758020
Fimi X8 SE, Hubsan Zino 2. Cheaper than mini 2 when you include the controller etc. But not under 250g
>>
>>3758220
>>3758260
see, now i'm confused because these pics kind of look like dogshit, but the video you posted looks fucking great.

like, they're fine photos, well composed and thought out, but the quality is like cell phone tier.
>>
>>3758308

Two different dudes my man, I'm just another guy with a MM1 who spent $500 for an aerial cell phone pontoon shot and just wants RAW backported.
>>
>>3758311
No, I gathered that they were different mens, my dude. That's actually what gave me pause, because you both used the same drone and both got nice shots at only okayish quality.

hmmmm.

Just got a Mavic Air 2 after flying a Mini for a few months. This thing is pretty dope.
>Can’t be fucked learning to fly a drone myself.
It's really not hard, guy. Especially with DJI drones.
>>3757907
>Also always still worried it'll break or get lost
Get insurance. Statefarm has some pretty affordable drone insurance in most states in the US.
>>3758260
I have both the Mini 1 and the Air 2. I doubt the Mini has a great selling price at the moment, but see if you can recoup some of your cost and just go directly to the Air 2 if you fly even semi frequently. It's really night and day between the two even in terms of just how it handles in the wind.
>>3759186
You're that same dumb fuck illegally flying his drone in NYC airspace aren't you?

Yeah pretty much what I'm thinking I'll do. I'm fairly new still so Ill probably practice with the MM1 then upgrade to an Air in the spring when the weather improves.

I'm assuming Hawaii? Every time I watch that dude on Youtube who does range tests and stuff I get jealous of your great weather and terrain. Chicago is going to be a frozen shithole for the next 6 months so I guess I'll work towards my 107
