I guess I will post. It's my first year of doing photography. Still learning.I have some photos edited (haven't posted) and I changed my editing a bit. Hopefully they look good. Editing is really hard I think.https://www.instagram.com/47islands/

https://www.instagram.com/robbiestilwell/Mostly shooting in the Wet Plate Collodion process, but still shoot some film and digital, as well as some other alternative processes.>>3661460For your first year, you're making some good steps. Try shooting some men too, differentiate, learn how different angles and shooting styles can flatter certain types of people, and maybe try learning some artificial lighting, or ways to manipulate natural light. >>3661526nice portraits, I like the consistent style>>3661531I like the depth of field and composition of the top and middle left shotsI only do beer shots on that specific account to keep it consistent. Kind of a project to keep me sanemy other account is more landscapes and urban, I should try to be more consistent with itinstagram.com/beckephotos
>>3661500I like the look, some photos are interesting and have stories to tell. It fits really well when your models are wearing vintage clothes . But the others are just average portraits with a vintage filter. >>3661519the top 3 are neat , the others are meh>>3661526dont know anything about portraits and cosplay , but some of the backgrounds are bit off imo, especially the bunny girl and cow bikini. I guess either focus on the outdoor stuff or practice indoor.>>3661526Your GF is thicc. Anyway, your editing style is good for cosplay. Your gf needs to pose a little more exaggerated. And relaxes her face a bit.>>3661582What kinda lens you use? pics look sick.

>>3661955I'm glad you have that frame of mindSome of this might be personal taste, but I'll try to explainOk even your newest one. There's a horrible glow behind the first mountain, and the way it lights up the middle mountain on the left. And everything is red, why? Your ninth one with the green boats, and green everything else. The sky just looks too funky. The Dolomites Italy one where you show before/after is a perfect example. Parts of the boat is glowing. It looks like you've put clarity to +100. And again there's this glow from the sky. The red cabin in Norway pic, the sky is just way too glowy and it makes it look ridiculously overprocessed. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9Hj_HlHEcI/https://www.instagram.com/p/B9CbnZvpTtd/These ones too, and more. You just need to dial it back in your editing a little bit as a first step. I don't mean to shit on you too much, and my preferences are playing in here too. Have you seen Alex Burkes' threads? >>3661541>instagram.com/beckephotosWay more interesting than the beer shots. Not a huge fan of some of the process, particularly the crushed blacks. I would shoot under better lighting. Im knocking out most of my outdoor doggos during golden hour still.>>3661821these are super hit and miss. Some are great and others are relying too hard on the subject like the baby deer picture and the pigeon dude picture. Both are interesting from the subject but the photograph itself could be stronger. It's also super frustrating because it's clear your shooting with composition in mind but they just don't quite click.>>3662249Most of the recent outdoor stuff is shot at 140-400mm. I feel like IG is a good way to review you your style and progress over the month / years. I use it more in that sense rather than attract follows / like.Sure there are probably more suitable platforms but IG makes it easier to share with family and friends, or even strangers who are interested in seeing your pics.Plus if you like photography and are interested in seeing other people's work, it's probably the most convenient platform at the moment since it's so popular.

>>3670030 (me)>>3665085Your photos with people are your best shots. It adds more emotion to the pic. Mountains are pretty, but after 2 or 3 pics that are just mountains, all of them start looking the same.>>3664389I love the way you play games with color. The thing that sucks about film is that you're stuck with the same constraints for 24 (or 36) shots at a time. Just scrolling through your profile is pleasant, with all the different colors. Do that more.>>3663235You have an eye for interesting "visual texture" (idk if there's a proper term for that). Maybe try combining that architectural texture thing with an additional subjects, like your shot with the girl and the bimmer but instead of the BMW have a cool looking building or something
Little tip for you, a lot of faggots from /IG/ threads follow you back for a few days then quietly unfollow hoping you won't notice leaving them with a +1 on their follow list. Use an app like Follower Analyzer to spot them and get rid of them. Loads of apps like this out there.Should have known a huge portion of this general are selfish, narcissistic cunts considering the amount of self-absorbed faggots who don't leave crits for others. After reviewing these people's profiles, they don't even leave comments for ANYBODY else or engage at all. They're not worth the space on your feed.
Does it really matter though? I follow a lot of people from these threads because I genuinely enjoy looking at pictures from other photography enthusiasts. Even if they don't follow back or unfollow, I still get to view their work which was the point in the first place.I don't think follow for follow are a good reason to follow in the first place. I'd rather they do it because they enjoy or are curious about my style than just out if politeness.I think many are getting tired or frustrated of IG because of this followers chase.

And sometimes people unfollow you because they're tidying up their wall too. It's the dirty trick of anons unfollowing once they get what they want, normally employed by people in here who never give any criticisms to others. It's the same names over and over again. I try to reach out a ton and help people out where I can with advice or critiques, I suddenly realised a lot of people I follow are not only terrible photographers, they're also terrible self-centred people who I don't think care about anybody's photography other than their own snapshits. I'd rather not support them by giving them an extra 1 on their follow list.

>>3670487no one owes you anything. they follow because they know it gets your attention and they know their pics could be interesting for you. the fact is your stuff is just banal and pureposeless. they dont want to follow you or clutter their feeds with your banality but you do have a purpose in you could follow and like their content and the algorythm will recommend similar people like you to their account. dont hate the player hate the game. and if you want more followers, get good. posting pics of signs and your cat and using film to do it doesnt make you an artist. it makes you a lame barely relevant follower. no one wants to follow that.

A bit new to IG and still figuring it out so far things were good until suddenly confused by one of my stories being deleted in mere minutes after being posted. It was just landscape shots 5 frames from the same location and time and only one image got deleted while 4 others remained on the story. The reason cited was totally bizarre that violated the tos under images promoting suicide. Was completely confused...do bots handle their image recognition? If so it does a poor job at looking at images and deleting them when they have no such violating content. Is there any recourse or just forget it?And no there were no hashtags or banned text in it.

Still trying to define my style and hoping to become more consistent and publish a good series.>>3674542nice and consistent colour palette. Challenge yourself to shoot a series focusing on a certain theme, then move on to something else, and your personal style will show through between them.

>>3661519really like these! studio shots are something that intrigue me, but I am not sure if I have the vision!>>3661500as everyone else said, really good job keeping to your strengths>>3661526I like a lot. >>3691730Yeah, I started my IG account after a decade thinking that OK, it's here to stay and probably good, but it's just a completely terrible product. How come you faggots have so few follower? I literally have no posts whatsoever and have more than any of you. what the fuck?
>>3699172>Bunch of retards who follow you for no reason Those don't count as real followers
>>3699172What if you have few followers because you tell everyone NOT to follow you as some kind of reverse psychology to get more followers except they actually listen and no one comments on your photos and hardly anyone actually follows?
Also doesn't help to have a face like this
I'm fairly new to Instagram, posting from my two-years old backlog of photographs and photographing still when I can. Cherry picking the ones that hopefully look like stills from a film. Does people mostly use white or dark themes? I want to start posting after a while but idk if I should keep the white borders or make them black. Cropping is crap.
