Is starting a YouTube channel a good idea to monetize one's /out/ hobby to be able to spend more time /out/ and afford to go to more remote/exotic places?
>>
>>2668689
No. It's oversaturated and no one would watch you, forcing you to shill to friends and family. You'd essentially be an e-beggar

If you really think you have something to offer go ahead. But honestly I would rather watch a retarded 20 year old girl try to hike the Appalachian trail. Even if you are a super wise /out/ guru the 20 year old girl wins every time.
>>
>>2668689
Do you have nice tits? No? Are you a genuinely interesting and charismatic person? No?
>>
>>2668689
All these anons acting like it's about standing out, when in reality most channels are pretty samey. In truth it's like 10% distinguishing yourself from other channels and 90% luck of being ascended by the algorithm.
Don't ever try doing it as a source of income
>>
Fucking sick of social media sharing all the best wilderness areas.
>>
>>2668906
>90% luck
It's not luck. Shill for kiked vendors and get good goy points. Simple as.

Bumping for interest. Also i wanna know what are some /out/ approved camera gears that's durable enough to withstand multiday outings

You'll probably get better answers on /p/

Unless you've got tits it's pointless, gone are the days where actual talented people would succeed in making content, anything new is coomer bait, the only reason you see people like MCQbushcraft going is because they've had a following for the past 10 fucking years.

YouTube recently changed their front page algo so it shows me people with videos with under like 2k views but still on target from the other outdoor shit and its just an endless sea of boring ass Normie's trying to shoot their shot on a horribly oversatured site since everyone wants to kill themselves instead of wagecucking in 2023. You really need some sort of gimmick if you arent a woman with huge tits. Noone really wants to watch you hike your local trails and cook a meal in the back of your truck. You either need to camp in extreme conditions, have some very experienced bushcraft knowledge, or have some sort of really unique vehicle you are camping out of. Its not really worth it in the end, YouTube's algo really prioritizes people who upload often and unless you are able to get out and do it full time you never get the traction to generate any income to sustain yourself. Its a shitty platform and even successful creators are even complaining that YouTube is shafting them monetarily
>>
>>2669588
Mcqbushcraft had to quit because he never made any money doing it and he had a bunch of his hunting content blurred and cut out of his old videos and then buried by the algo. He even said that he couldn't compete with bushcrafting broads whoring themselves out. YouTube can just arbitrarily change the rules on everything overnight and wipe out your income.

Quick question, do you have tits and do you appear as a conventionally attractive female?
I promise it's related

I remember years ago the BIG thing was cabins. Go out innawoods, build a fucking cabin to live in - and film it for shitsngiggles. Even that now has DOZENS of examples and the site is inudated 'offgrid cabin/homesteads' lmao

this
its like trying to start a Minecraft Let's Play channel in 2015
only way you'll have a chance this late is to find an extreme niche that hasnt been done yet, but good luck.
you're better off inventing a time machine and going back to 2017 before /out/tube took off

>to make any real money of it.
you'd be surprised
friend of mine has a travel vlog with 200k subs and he makes enough from it to travel full-time now, and he doesnt even go in for the Raid:Shadow Legends/Manscaped/Bokkusu/NordVPN shilling shit either.
he started 4 years ago though

if you were to start a channel now it'd take you ~5 years to get to that point, and that's assuming that
>you have a good expensive camera
>you have a good expensive mic
>you're really good at video editing
>you're physically attractive
>you have a nice speaking voice
>you're knowledgeable and actually passionate about the stuff you do
>you're charismatic
>you're good at studying analytics so you can reach a bigger audience
and last, most important thing
>you're good at shilling yourself on social media (facebook, reddit, twitter, instagram, 4chan etc)

>YouTube can just arbitrarily change the rules on everything overnight and wipe out your income.
this
you need to be always adapting and changing your angle or eventually you get buried under newer "up to date" content
>>
>>2670449
The wordless "Watch me build a cabin from scratch" videos are very relaxing, though. I've watched a few, cup of tea in hand, and loved every minute.
>>
>>2670505
Oh yeah I've watched a bunch, they can be great and definitely give me the itch. It's just that there's so many that aready have a million subscribers because they started a decade+ ago that the new ones never really flourish like they used to, at least from a monetary standpoint. You could still do well but its a LOT of work just to make videos, it's usually the ones that are going to do it anyway and use that to supplement income rather than go into town and work for a month or two
>>
>>2668689
Being Mormon is the best base for being an /out/tuber
>>
YouTube monetizes things because THEY make money, not because you make money.
That's why it's dying, people who spend time creating original content don't get a share of the revenue
