Have you thanked and praised this inconspicuous little plant yet? >edible roots, nutritious and tastes almost like coffee when roasted>petals can be dried for tea or fried in butter, pepper and salt, absolutely delicious and nutrious >leaves can be used as aragula in salads or sandwiches, nutritious
made dandelion coffee once, it was bad
>>2586997Picked one once and wet the bed, never again.
>>2586997dandellion-ƒag hereI've got kind of a brown thumb and although I grow pretty plants and veggies sometimes, my favourite flower is dandellions. Sadly I've had to move a lot in recent years so my pots and gardens of dandelions have been left behind for some other tenant to toil with, but I always grow them where I live and I fucking love them. At my new place I have a smallish dedicated pot that I have ONE dandy growing in and it's going to be one of those massive spoilt king dandelions you see sometimes. It's pretty much winter now and I only planted it in early autumn so it won't fully come to life until spring but I can't wait.HOW FUCKING GOOD ARE DANDELIONS>beautiful>survive all the time>bloom and make puffballs over and over through the year>perennial to the point where a well-situated dandelion root will outlive YOUbless you OP for this thread.
>>2587005>puffballsI still love blowing those.
Hello fellow dandelion enjoyers, I’ll dig around a bit and check if I can find my grandpas dandelion wine recipe. Tastes great, I highly recommend it
>>2587006if you harvest dandies at home there's literally always dozens of them at a time!pickerel is sadly the only photo I have of one of my dandy crops, all of these planters exploded with dandelions. full sun all day and I had a timed irrigation system to keep them whet. they grew like palms with giant leaves that spread out over the planters and the healthiest 'lions were like 12" tall it was amazing
>>2587009also sorry for crooked exiƒ
These fuckers and their tap roots.
Friendly reminder to make sure you're eating bitter greens, anything bitter is supposed to do wonders for your liver and gallbladder. Best way to consume dandelions is to chop up the leaf crowns and toss them into a salad of milder greens (chickweed, goosefoot, lettuce) with some kind of light dressing.
>>2587012what are you saying
>>2587008Please do.
>>2587012You haven't seen anything unless you've dealt with twitchgrass.
>>2587012Love them tap rootsTurning my back quarter of rocky fill into a proper yard in no time
>>2587009>spoilt king dandelionsI don't know what those are but we have what are easily 14 to 18 inch dandelions here near the coast--they're not common but also not hard to find in abundance... I'll see if I can hunt down a picture.. They're pretty fucking boss.
>>2587388I was just referring to big dandelions that are growing in ideal conditions
>>2587149>>2587005>Fuck ya, concrete > loss
>>2587634but what are you saying
>>2587638
>>2587692
>>2586997i dip the small fllowers face down into a thin batter, then fry the one side. the stem is a little handle. pretty goodthe unopened flower buds are an ok pot herbwhen i hoe the garden i never get all the taproot outmy favourite time to pick leaves is a few days after weedingthe first flush of leaves after weeding is very sweet for the first week
>>2586997aged dandelion wine is very nice
>>2587966Might make some this summer. What does it taste like anon?
>>2588591NTA, but it depends on how you make it. I've got a batch brewing that has lemon and orange zest and juice in it, mostly so the yeast has a source of citric acid. It ends up with a citrus flavor, but it doesn't overpower the dandelions if you use enough petals. Picking the flowers apart is a pain in the ass though.
>>2588591im not a somelier so i cant say for sureits got a pretty distinct taste of honey to it thoughmade with only yellow dandelion petals and water in 2018in a year or two when my hops has grown big ill do a batch with some hops in also, i think it can turn out good
>>2588656>>2588755Thanks anons. I've been curious about it for the last few years. There is a local brewery who makes it (or used to at least). I wouldn't mind making some; even a small batch.
sid made dandelions look so good can you really just eat them like that?
>>2588921You can eat the green parts for sure. Have almost a citrus flavor.
>>2588925>>2588921nta but u can also eat the flower petalz and buds 2 !! they taste slightly sweeter than the leavez, i recommend it :D
>>2588591dandelion wine was very common when i was a kidits basically fruit wine with dandelion blossoms added as a bitter component all the old recipes are full of sugar, raisins, lemon juice and even grape juice concentratethe more green parts left on the blossoms, the more blossoms in general, the more bitter it isi really like a little bitterness in my fruit wine(rowan berries, crabapples), its like hops in beer. fruit wine tends to be bland, so i like adding strong flavored herbs and fruit, but its easy to overdo it
>>2588925gonna try this on my trek in 2 days. is it possible to mix em with ice cream?
>>2588926>>2588959>>2588656Thanks anons, I now have a new experiment to try. Any basic bitch recipes? I don't like resorting to the jutube
>>2589219hardly a recipe, but u can make dandelion salad prettii easilyjust get a bowl full of the leaves and a couple petals as a garnish and pour some whipping cream with salt and pepper on them and shake it up :D
>>2586997the leaves make terrible toilet paper though. You get shit all over your fingers.
