old ass case knife from my dadwell loved as you can see
Thanks to my REI membership, grabbed a $140 Leatherman signal for only $6 earlier in the month. Been using it non-stop.
>>2583311That's a beaut. I usually only use cool stuff like that around the house, I typically lose at least one daily carry knife every year.
>>2583312How do you carry yours? I've never had any success carrying a miltitool on my person.

Haven't been knife mogged in so long I can't remember the last time. Mostly because I'm the only person in the room that has a knife in my pocket. People are getting funny about knives now, like everything else. Pic related
Good thread
>>2583299didn't get mogged yet, i'm the knife guy around here. Had a close call when i showed a guy my xm-18 and he said he had the same, but luckily upon closer inspection he realized that he was mistaken.Im thinking about getting some sweet micarta scales and a deep carry clip for this baby.

>>2583414>>2583418I’m on the snappy blade knives recently. If I use a utility knoife, it’s because I want a razor sharp blade, not pocket knoife brute force. I got down on the Jappo snap blades and it’s so damn easy to get a fresh edge. All I have so far is 9mm, waiting to see if I feel the need for the 18mm or 25mm ones.

This for when a non knife person asks for a knife. No one carries big pocket knives anymore.
>>2584602I'm very tempted to get one of the smaller spydercos, they look great.>No one carries big pocket knives anymoreA lot of us do, depends on what you consider big though.

I've been carrying this Victorinox for a few years now. I really like the size and weight of it. It's got some useful tools on it, I really like the tweezers and toothpick. My main issue is how difficult it is to clean. I work with a lot of dirt and sand so this thing gets pretty crusty and requires cleaning weekly. I'm surprised I've never seen someone complain about this aspect of victorinox knives. You really have to pry the scales off and drill out the pins? It's really goofy to me.
>>2584625Can't you just clean it in water and add lubricant afterwards?
>>2583299An old victorinox that I bought from some TSA auction for ~6USD back in 2013
>>2584625i usually open all the tools and then clean the inside with a qtip and some alcohol. Maybe a few blows from a air compressor will get rid of the hard to reach sand.
I like pocket carry Leatherman surge. Way too heavy for that but smaller multitools feels like toys for me. Thinking about changing it for supertool300 and pocketknife or victorinox
>>2583299Chink copy of Benchmade bugout. It's lite enough to forget about it.
>>2584734>>2584625Yeah I usually just fuck around with a bucket of soapy water and some qtips. It works fine, but it's not as in depth as I'd like and I can only get so much of the sand. I wonder if an ultrasonic cleaner would help?
Axial Alpine. Does the job, a little pricey for what it is though. Use it mainly for trimming plants and cutting food in the office.
>>2584597If you are going cottaging, why do you need condoms? Just the lube is enough for butt sex
Carrying this gay lil nigga right now.
Alox pioneer. Almost perfect, I wish I could find something with the same small print in the pocket but with a cm longer locking blade.
>>2584906Kek is that your gay little EDC fanny pack in the pic with your Altoids tin survival kit? >in the office
>>2583299I carry this one every day. Sharpness holds up pretty well.
>>2584950Some people who use their brains at work still use pens. You might not understand.
>>2584956I like this knife, very nice light feel.
>>2584950Kek. The condition of that paracord tells you all you need to know.
>>2584989What does it tell you?
>>2583299i'm the knife people, haven't met anyone else carrying a custom yet lol
My girlfriend has this older Kershaw. Does anyone know the model?
>>2585011Op is a white collar redditor whose knoif doesn't see much work. Has disposable income.Good for him (you).
>>2583324Literally this. I've lost a number of knives over the years. But I'm fairly certain I've NEVER lost one off my property. So therefore I find it really fucking strange a knife goes ''missing'' where I live, and never turns up again, even after years. I've never happened to find one some months later. That means somebody (women) have been fucking with my shit.
>>2584351Yeah, but all folders are.
>>2585011This is what used paracord starts to look like. If it was hanging off the back, that shit might be torn off already.
>>2585195>>2585011>>2584989This is what that paracord looked like before.
I carry a Victorinox tinker deluxe. I live in Sweden and our laws has just upped the ways to get charged for carrying a knife "wrong" and how severe those charges are. This means there are almost no people carrying knifes here. But I have been carrying a SAK for years now and I can't understand why anyone would carry just a knife? Meaning a simple foldable knife with no other tools. I use the blade quite often on my SAK but its absolutely not the main tool. Why do you carry such large knifes with so little utility?
You go down just like Holy Mary. Mary on a, Mary on a cross.
>>2584351>>2585176I don't process fish with that knife much but cleaning it out is no big deal>wipe blade>flush out inside with hot soapy water>scrub inside with nylon straw cleaning brush>repeat last 2 steps until satisfied>doneMore work than a fixed blade for sure but it's no Herculean task
>>2584894ultrasonic cleaning could work. Its generally better for hard plastics and most thermoplastics. So since the scales are ABS you should be in the clear: https://sonicsolutionsltd.com/does-ultrasonic-cleaning-work-with-plastics/if you are worried about damaging the scales you should be able to just pop them off and throw the rest in the ultrasonic cleaner.
>>2583315Same anon from before, forgot to reply to your post. The Leatherman signal has a pocket clip and carabiner. Either I clip it to my pants or pack. Recently decided to grab a Gerber Armbar Scout for EDC purposes after the blade on my Swiss Travelers knife snapped.
>>2585474If you are actually serious about carrying a multitool, just get a Surge
>>2585484I actually thought about grabbing a surge before settling on the Signal.
>>2585485for me, its just like, yea the signal is lighter and has less tools, but the only reason to get a signal over almost any victorinox is the pliers
>>2584956>>2584963I also carry a 940. I've yet to be mogged. Just the occasional, dumb fucking typical chud>"BiTcHMaDe iS AnTi-GuN aNd Pro BiDen!"
Only complaint is how much it sucks to lose one
>>2585511The shoemaker has opinions, the shoes don't.I don't understand how people think boycotting products fixes anything, if you don't buy it someone else will.
>>2585484Yeah, signal is pretty trash from my experience, better choice is wave for light multitool and surge for heavy multitool. As a signal owner I replaced whistle and sharpening rod for 3d printed bit storage. I wish they make signal as a larger multitool, something like Leatherman mut , hammer is nice but signal lack second blade and file. For outdoor use it's really bad
>>2583299Never carry one desu I have to much experience in martial arts to even bother and never really needed it knifes are like a charm, they have no use 99,9% of the time, they're just a simble desu Nothing against it, I even like them but it is what it is.
>>2583315what about a belt clip?
>>2585671Why don't you ask bud light how it's going. Stock is only down 9 billion.
>>2585755If you know martial arts, you will know that knives are not carried only for personal defense. People have other uses for them. It's true, they are mostly used to cut random things like boxes. Even if you just like carrying one, so be it. I'm sure everyone carries junk with them (extra cards, keys you never use, etc.).
>>2584255actual uk bro checking in.I cant go back to blades with non-pointy tips, they are just so useful.
>>2585823This time with image.
>>2583315i carry my surge in coin pocket of my jeans, dont even need pocket clip but its necessary for any other pocket. Also its nice to throw it into backpack or car and have it as a backup
>>2583315Prison wallet.
EDC for work almost everyday. I love this knife.
Just picked this up the other day.
>>2584244I've been looking a cleaver knifes for a while but haven't gotten one yet. This one looks awesome.
>>2583299Tuff Lite. I have a few of them since I love the design, plus they're a bargain. It's a super box-cutter for all intents.I would have liked for Cold Steel to make a premium version in XHP/S35VN and G10, but AUS 8A works.
>>2587348Oh, hey, another Shaman owner.15V huh? Neat. Like a crovan kabar, but a Spyderco!I just have the regular version I got for $180 when it released when I upgraded from my left handed military.Only benfit of the plain jane one is it's stonewashed so no sharp spots and you don't get so ocd over every little nick on the finish.
>>2585755Oh shit! Did you study the blade? That sounds like hard work. You must have had to pass on a lot of partying.
>>2585806Maybe if they made a product that wasn't such generic shit, they'd have been more resilient. >>2585824Nice
>>2585755Sorry but i cant katrate chop a fucking cardboard box apart when im at work.
>>2583315I used to carry my Victorinox Spirit in an HSGI Pistol Taco when I worked in a shop and used it constantly. It's a nice solution, holds it securely but no fucking around with flaps or anything and kept me from having to stick filthy hands in my pockets to get it.
>>2583299>Who else has been mogged by unexpected knife people and what's in your pocket right now?My pest control guy is huge into custom knives. Can't think of too many great specific examples right now, but whenever he's around he's got some kind of $1k+ exotic bling in his pocket. I have some reasonably nice stuff, Sebenza etc., but lately I've just been carrying a little Case most of the time.
>>2587414I sure think it is. Rarely miss having a tip, but it does come up occasionally, so be warned (example, went to poke holes in a plastic tub I was putting worms in for bait, had to grab my other knife).Feels real good in the hand, well weighted, ball bearing pivot is real nice.
>>2583886Classic
>>2583995Base Leatherman owner I also own the wave
A Walmart pick up this week. $24 it's great.
>>2587877What're you buying that for? Stabbing joggers in the woods?
>>2587877Step up to the Esee next, you will love it.
i just carry the SAK daily and for work i have the lil blue sak boy on my keychain (lower left side). For bushcraft stuff i mostly use a cheap Bahco knife (mid, green/black handle) so i dont feel bad abusing it. When just whittling and cutting food i use a martinii (top right)
>>2583299manly wasp S90V in Military green
>>2583937You keep an 9" non folding blade in your pocket?Still pretty though.
>>2585681>Signal badYeah, it feelsas if they keep adding good features but always end up removing at least 1 that you really need.
>>2588041Why not just buy fucking Pliars? These multi-tools are only good as pliars, are shit as screwdrivers/knives/whatever. You are barely saving any weight having it be inside a chunky pliar anyway, just saving the weight vs a handle and rat-tail tang or whatever.
>>2588124>>2588124ACtually, I agree. My tiny Leatherman Squirt with a small knife, scissors and tiny pliers does 99% of all I need it to.For heavier jobs I used to carry a medium sized leatherman but I realized that I kept *trying* to solve problems with it, only to alway defaulting back to -real- tools
>>2588124Surge and signal owner from previous post here. Also agree. And Leatherman pliers feels much less capable than normal tools. But I like multitools. I had many situations where I where I needed to use some specific tool once for a specific purpose and multitool is brilliant for that. Neeed to take out wood splinter, needle nose pliers act as twizzer, wheel nut in my rc car is loose, tighten it down with multitool, need to cut plastic straps or zip ties , serrated blade comes handy. And situation like that are constant for me. Of course when I need something for serious job I take normal tools and even then sometimes multitool work as backup for something I might forget.
>>2588041Yeah, it's feels too light duty to rely on it. But maybe that was intentional, to mede it light that you can always carry it wherever you want and it's still can make fire or cut something even if your main tools went bad or missing
Anyone here into cold steel? I'm a sucker for their stuff. Everything I had is from when Lynn was running the show but still cool stuff.
>>2587868I constantly pull it out multiples times a day at work, I do need to get a new belt pouch, stop carrying it in my pocket.

I have a benchmade hunt grizzly creek that sits in my dresser drawer, edc a kershaw cryo ll tanto on my farm, I don't care if I beat the shit out it, it's cheap.
>>2588954This is the retarded thing about knives, people are afraid to use the good ones even though they’re a better tool.Glad I’m the opposite with real tools, I’d rather use the more expensive shit than bust a knuckle with a cheaper version. Like pic related, the one made in Germany is newer but way more worn. Only thing is you have to make a decision when the time comes to totally misuse and abuse the tool, but the upside is the good quality tool can often stand up to the misuse and abuse. And if the good one does get fucked, at least I got my $40 out of it over the years and I’ll spend another $40 instead of getting a shitty $10 version.
>>2588770hammer with bit driver on side is nice, i bought set of socket wrenches on aliexpress with 1/4inch end and it could be used as a wrench on the go. Wish they added second pair of outside tools, blade and file
>>2588971My edc gets abused, prying, digging into the dirt, cutting dirty/muddy rope, etc. The benchmade was a gift, and I can guarantee, I would've broken the tip off by now, and it would look and run like shit with what I have to put a knife through. If I just camped with it or only had to cut paracord, etc. I'd carry it, but I don't need a great knife for what I do, I need one I can easily replace at a decent price, that I can wash off in a sink and not have to worry about.
>>2589221sometimes on the farm i use my knife as a pry tool as well as a blade. for that reason, I don't like to carry around my expensive one.
>>2589232it's the same way I wouldn't wear a $3000 suit to work on my car, when I can throw on a pair of coveralls and not give a rip.
I carry the leatherman Juice. Its nice and small, very lightweight compared to something like the Wave or Surge. Its a non-threatening color so if I bring it out around random people they dont panic. Pliers and screwdriver are my most used tools, Only needed to use the knife like once in 4 months. Unless you specifically need it for a job I cant image carrying around a dedicated knife instead of a multitool
Nothing to fancy

>>2588971I got over this fear with guns. My first gun ever was a HK USP, which albeit isn't the most expensive, it's far from being your typical Glock or Glock clone. After years of training with it and carrying it (and using it as a duty pistol for work) I've scratched that thing so much, mostly from repeated holster wear but sometimes from just dinging against other stuff. This is why my Spydercos all have some nasty wear in them. I will use my best tools until it's time to replace them. I've noticed one hardly has to replace good tools. So cost shouldn't be an issue. The only way I wouldn't use a good tool, is if it's more on the collectors side of things. Like some one off limited edition run, but I tend not to buy such things since I'm not a collector at heart. I'm a user/doer.
>>2589372I recently bought my first motorcycle and it's a brand new Royal Enfield.
