Ski season has started, yet I'm not seeing any of you fags out here
>>
I don't have 300 dollars to pay.
You can walk up some mountains for free.
>>
Been out 4 days already bud. Gonna be 5 tomorrow.
>>
Got my vacation planned for summer. One day I'll move to the mountains
>>

January I mean. I'm going skiing in January.
I might also be retarded
>>
>>2499135
Worry about yourself. Why are you worried about a 4chan board?

Skiing easily costs $200 per day, and that's if you already have the equipment. How wealthy do you think we are? You think the average person has a spare $800 each month to go ski once a week?

The median income is below the median rent across the West. people can barely afford food. I used to go ski as a kid, now I'm an adult with a PhD in engineering and my own kid and there is no WAY i could take him skiing regularly.

In closing: kill yourself. We might be able to go ski after the second US civil war opens up resources for humans that's stolen by the parasitic (((banking class))).

You ever heard of a season pass anon?
>>
>>2499510
If you buy day tickets sure, but a mid week pass at my local hill is $750 for the entire season. That's ~7 months of skiing Mon-Fri, on like 3000+ acres, for less than 5 days of skiing on a single day ticket. And if you do need to ski weekends with all the other tourist plebs, a full access pas is still about $1200. You'd think a PhD graduate would be able to figure out what a season pass is.
If you ski seriously, you buy a pass. Simple as.
>>
>>2499542
Yeah not sure what that dude is talking about, classic engineer shit thinking they’ve got something completely figured out that they have no experience in.

I have ikon base pass, live in CO and it was like 900 bucks I think. It has like 25 resorts I can go to all over the country and I bought all my gear second hand from people who thought their “used” high end gear was done for. After it was all said and done I spent like 5-600 bucks on very high end gear.
>>
>>2499510
>wahhh i made bad life decisions and now I'm poor
I make average salary and have no problem going skiing. buy a pass
>>
>>2499510
You are mental and obviously don’t ski. After equipment, if you go consistently, you will in no way pay $200 dollars a day.

>calling the palm tree man poor
Fantastic bait, anon.

I tried skiing for the first time in new zealand last july. It's alright, I picked up the skiing decently enough to take on 2 intermediate routes on my 3rd day, but it felt a bit artificial to me. I liked being out on the mountains especially since living in coastal Australia where the temperature never goes below 8 it was a cool new experience. But when it came to being on the ski slopes, yeah it's nice, but there's so many people, all the snow blowers and all that shit it doesn't feel like being innawoods it feels just like the same thing as going to play soccer or something. I think I would prefer just 'hiking in the snow', the sport and thrill aspect of skiing isn't so much my thing.

The best way to get more runs and more total vertical is at the resort. Outside of the first couple days after a storm it's more fun to just run laps imo.
>>
>>2500992
Not to original point. The original point is that OP thinks he is superior but he still gets seen at a resort made for middle aged white women who have never skied

do I buy bros? I've only ever used rentals. Also last time I went snowboarding I wore my APECS jacket and functionally it was 9/10 but I figure I'll get something more stylish if it's on sale.

For pants and jackets I am constantly being spammed with MontecWear.
To me it feels like one of those social media brands that people buy only because it looks good but I've never tried it so don't blatantly trust me. Said so, looking around it seems like they do medium quality products for below medium/ medium prices. Aka for like 400-500 you could get a good enough 2 pieces that actually looks /fa/ approved.
Otherwise just go with the usual: Salomon, salewa, Pata, Columbia ecc ecc
I am sure other anons that are more familiar with the topic will give you better answers.

Swiss or Southern Alps of New Zealand?
>>
>slope and snow artificially maintained and produced
>entire facility heavily developed and filled with amenities
>surrounded by obnoxious trusties
>Gucci gang-tier clothing and gear

The first two are why skiing is simply a sport and not /out/, and the second two are why I'm not interested.

You can always stay in Ohio, you know
>>
>>2501076
I can’t help you with snowboarding, but as far as clothes go, literally just wear whatever keeps you warm and dry. Check out thrift shores near ski towns, that’s where I got my ski jacket and pants
>>
>>2503074
Southern Switzerland aka Northern Italy.
West Alps, Monte Rosa and shit.
>>
>>2499510
Anon if you have a PhD in engineering and you can't afford to ski then you either aren't making anywhere near what you could or you have terrible money management. IDK what to tell you, but ski mountains are quite busy.

Budget for a ski season:
Boots: = $500/5 seasons = $100
Skis is same (buy used), so another $100
Poles = $50/5 = $10
Jacket, $200/5 = $40
Pants, $200/5 = $40
socks, helmet, other personal items: $300/5 = $60
Season pass: $800 (your mileage may vary)
Assuming you drive 90 miles to go to the resort and gas is $3.50 and your rig gets 30 MPG: $10.50 * 2 (because both directions) * 20 days/season = $420

Total: $1570/season. Sorry you're poor anon, but frankly if you can't come up with $1570 dollars for a ski season then that's your problem.
