No.
Oklahoma has plenty of /out/land.
Ouachita Mountains, Ozark Mountains, Wichita Mountains, Black Mesa, some big ass reservoirs and lakes and lots of good river.

It kind of looks like California and North Carolina had a baby. Do you anything about the plateaus near the Ozarks? They tickle my fancy as a plateau-lover. Boston Mountains I think is the name?

Yes. My state is low so I hope others stay the fuck /out/.

It looks a lot like parts of Northern California and it looks a lot like parts of Appalachia.
The Boston Mountains are mostly in Arkansas.
Overall, it's as pretty as any part of the country.
The weather is pretty brutal though.
Heat index last weekend was 102F at our campsite on the river.
I've seen it hit -10F during hunting season.
In that way, it is nothing like Northern California.
>>
>>2398011
I just want to hike in dissected plateaus. I don't care what "state" I'm officially in so much and, with much apologies, my midwestern geography is a bit rusty and I've never visited before.

I think the beauty of central appalachia is some parts the elevation is above 2500 ft or so and that makes it cooler even in summer. I mean most people don't live that high up but it's nice to visit on a hot summer day.

I guess I'd wanna come in early spring to see everything green up or maybe in november - a warm late fall hike sounds top comfy

Is your view from a plateau? Looks like it but I'm not sure.

I got lost driving in far SW VA once. The road turned into an atv trail and we had to go all the way around to get to the meadow I was trying to reach then I couldn't find any trail and I forgot to download the topo map layer. It was chaos but I will try to be back. Far SW VA is definitely the prettiest part.

We went to high knob tower trying to get to glady fork meadow and then upper stony creek falls

Wisconsin deserves more than a 5. 6.5, imo. But I've always loved wetlands of all kinds, and the great lakes are, well, great. The Kettle-Moraine units got me into """mountain""" biking, and Lake Winnebago is great for ice fishing. The national forest in the North is also cool.

I also have lots of fond childhood memories at the Dells, and at Buffalo Lake near Montello
>>
>>2398010
No, it's pretty comfy in many respects. It just looks bad compared to the majesty of the West's geographic fratures. There's plenty to enjoy in the Midwest unless you have an insatiable desire for mountains; except for maybe in Illinois, but even then there's a few scattered preservations that are neat to look at.

The problem is the population density nearby is so high that the major attractions are going to be as crowded as possible - due to the proximity of the highly urbanized NY-Boston corridor.

>>
>>2401033
People think it’s a troll, but it’s not. The map is just based on a single criteria, though I’m not sure what it is (probably hiking). Florida is flat, but the 1,000+ mile Florida Trail goes through one of the most unique ecosystems in the country. Texas is mostly devoid of public land, but Big Bend is pretty amazing.

If you included other outdoor activities, Louisiana would be much higher. Kayaking in the creeks and bayous is something people just don’t know about, and the hunting and fishing earned the state it’s nickname of “sportsman’s paradise.” There’s the gulf, inland brackish bayous, and various rivers that make fishing not only easily accessible but extremely varied. And the white tail deer population density is insane. Ducks fly here for the “winter,” when low temps are barely below freezing (if that low at all).

The Midwest isn't all a zero. You're confusing plains states with the Midwest. Wisconsin and Michigan both score well for Midwest states. Although Michigan should be higher imo because the lakes are snice and the UP is God's country.
Even if a place is a "0," that doesn't mean it can't be beautiful. There's profound beauty in vast, vast plains as far as your eyes can see. But the map isn't about beauty, it's about the quality of /out/ivities in the state.

The plains states have killer deer, duck, pheasant, and sandhill crane hunting. Plus great rabbit hunting. Really a good place to live especially because it's a one day road trip to the rockies and the ozarks so you can enjoy the decidious hills of the east and the actual mountains of the west very easily and land is extremely cheap. The upper 'midwest' has fun lakes and woods but it also has some of the same problems that the east east does, namely overpopulation and congestion and shitty cities dictating law.

there's river-filled canyons with average grades ranging from 20-45% in some places. There's smaller creeks way up that can be run only at really high water - often in the winter - but also plenty of bigger water lower down when it rains a lot.

IL, IN, NJ, NM, NV, PA, TN, VT, and WY should be half a point higher
ME, NH, and MI should be a point higher
WV should be one and a half higher
ND should be half a point lower
WI should be a point lower

Pretty sure this is bait but this is the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

Why would they enforce your friend's impure thoughts but still allow a woman to wear a sports bra if they were that authoritarian? And the fact that you said it happened on NPS land, when the NPS frequently posts/celebrates woke shit makes it extra retarded.

No way to tell if it's accurate, because there's no indication of what the numerical or color values actually mean.

Don't you be trespassing around here.

Californian with a grandpa who lived in PA. My fondest memories were riding his "four wheeler" around the woods for countless hours. You just pick a direction and there are trails for days.

Is Colorado only 7 because of the population? I'd bump it to an 8 if Montana is 8. Also, is there somewhere outside the US that's a 10? Alberta? Switzerland?
>>
Nebraska deserves a 1. Check out highway 1 and the scottsbluff areas. Basically east Wyoming
>>
>>2403422
The numbers are literally just representing how much touristic development/popularity a state has and how much the average tourist is willing to spend to visit that state to hike. Alaska people will shell out thousands for specialty trips for. Much of the west coast is almost the same.

It's not about scenic value it's literally just money and popularity.
>>
>>2403424
You'd have to have a pre-existing reason to BE in Nebraska to see Nebraska to which I say - why??!?!?

>Chicagoland completely spared
>NYC completely spared
>MSP, STL, ATL completely spared
>Montana completely fucked
>Wyoming/Colorado border completely fucked
>Minot AFB causes a quarter of ND to become wasteland
USAF Academy and Minot earned their nukes, but not nearly that kind of heat. Plenty of other targets earned a proper nuclear strike as well.

yes, because every part of washington near me is overrun with (in order of disrespect for nature) californian, chinese and indian immigrants. The first litters and leaves dog shit bags, the second litters and leaves clothes shoes in rivers and trails, and the third parks like morons and has no trail etiquette. If we removed these three, WA would be 10/10 (eastern wa is a little better in this regard and is 8.5 imo, even if i prefer the woods i grew up in)

This is only accurate for specific /out/ activities mainly hiking, (though it does reflect the try hard pretentious westfag view that the appalachians are at best only serviceable, which is the viewpoint of one who has only visited the tourist attractions such as Mount Washington or Clingman’s Dome.) there are far better hiking trails in the area. In terms of fishing and kayaking the map is even less accurate.

Also the attempt at appearing “tough to please” by not even allowing the top place to score a ten proves that the map is just to troll.
>>
>>2399457
For mountain hiking? Absolutely not. For everything else? Sure

>>2401297
This is true, because most of /out/ just assumes that all outdoor activities is mountain hiking they assume that states without any real elevation are not worth visiting. Now RI is really small and still has barely any hiking but it is a pretty area, the coast line is great and they probably have the best beaches of the entire northeast

>>2402266
Accurate

>>2403303
Sure the resorts suck but you obviously don’t back country

>>2403310
Mass should be a little higher but the eastern portion of the state does mostly suck for /out/

>>2403312
Westfags have only been to Acadia
