Might be a wild crabapple now that you mention it. This areas been orchards for hundreds of years and seeds get dropped and make all kinds of crabapple crosses.

This was in Nagano, Japan and it’s called Togashiki Shrine. There’s a much longer trail, but I didn’t really have time to do it. This was only about 2 km but I did end up hiking quite a bit more that day in other areas of Nagano.

>>2371906
This is Keramashoto National Park in Okinawa. I brought my kayak with me and spent the day on an uninhabited island mixing margaritas, paddling around, and hiking up to this lighthouse where the shot was taken.

>>2371909
This is in Miyajima off the beaten path on a trail up to the top of an observation tower. The entire island is dotted with shrines and these tiny deer were once believed to be messengers of the gods. As such they were worshipped and fed by people which has mostly domesticated them over the centuries.

This pic is from Mt Aso, a giant active volcano in the southern part of Japan. This picture is taken from a peak above called Nakodake and was about a 11 km hike through some very weird terrain.

I’ve been living here for about a year and half now. I’ve only got another 6 months before my contract is up. In about 2 weeks I’ll be doing the 65 km Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail in Wakayama. It’s a world heritage trail (the other one being the Camino in Spain) and you visit several gorgeous temples and stay in small Japanese mountain villages along the way.

Well my hike is over with 9 miles to go unfortunately (though I did technically meet the requirements of the pilgramage). I busted the cartilage off my kneecap a few years ago and had to have surgery and it started hurting about halfway through the hike today and feeling loose. It sucks but I'd rather not risk it since there's no place to bail out on the next section and it's the roughest. Still managed to do a little over 40 miles, so I'm proud of that and had an amazing trip. Whenever I get all my photos together I'll make a thread.

This is the north. Those swampy areas are for bugs and moose. Everything is either a lake, a swamp, or rocky forest. This pic is from the same rough area. It's gorgeous and a canoeing heaven up here.

Yesterday, about 2 miles out past Steven's pass to the North, about 4k feet. Melting snow up to my knees in places. Had to make some heroic leaps over swollen streams carving out swaths of deep snow on the path. It was a good time
