Forgot the bug repellant editionFeel free to post tobaccos (no weed allowed), pipes, collections, pics of favorite combos for going /out/, pics of what you're doing with your pipe and any questions you might have.Want to get into smoking pipes without spending too much cash? Get a Missouri Meerschaum Legend corncob pipe and a pouch of either Captain Black or Half and Half tobacco, available at most drugstores. What you'll need: pipe, tobacco, lighter or matches, pipe cleaners, and either a regular old nail or a pipe tool (combination tamper, scoop, and small pick). All of these together should run you less than $25. Having trouble keeping your pipe lit? Fill it with less tobacco and smoke it slower than you think you need to, lightly tamping as needed when the smoke starts thinning out. If you're still having trouble, try filling your pipe this way:https://youtu.be/0XHYPso7TXsOld thread >>2303148Come on in and get comfy.
I know it takes a lot of courage and guts, but I promise its amazing when you swallow it. Like yeah it's tempting to get a lick and taste it, but when you get a whole mouthful and you gotta just man tf u, savor it, and swallow. If diet is bad, flavor will be bad. Stick to tons of fruits and it's mind blowing
If you don't inhale you're wasting tobacco and your time
Tasted flavor notes in a cigar for the first time today, instead of just tobacco/wet grass taste. Literally tasted like earthy peanuts, it was uncanny. Have two corncobs with Peterson Nightcap and C&D Autumn Evening in the mail to see how pipe tobacco is.
>>2345886You're going for some pretty heavy tobaccos, Nightcap is a beast in the English/Latakia department and Autumn Evening is flavoured 6 different ways.
>>2345893Will see how it goes. Most of the stuff my local stores have is mild if I need something less heavy to try. What would be a good tobacco that exemplifies the flavor of louisiana perique?
>>2345897Perique on it's own is way too spicy to be smoked straight, it is commonly prepared as Viginia-Perique mixtures. Good examples would be Escudo Navy Rolls or C&D Bayou Morning.
Anyone have epxerience with kirsten radiator pipes or other radiator pipes? I heard they completely remove the problem of moisture and the pipe getting to hot. Sounds a little to good to be true, especially since they have been around for about 80 years and i just heard about it this week.
Repostan from the old threadOrdered a tin of Peterson Deluxe Navy Rolls and a pouch of Mac Baren Virginia No 1 online yesterday. I've already had a pouch of the Mac Baren and loved it, never had a VaPer before though. It's a shame my local tobacco store mostly has aromatics.>>2344853I bought a tin of that recently and have smoked it a bunch of times now but I can't seem to get much flavour out of it. Got any tips?
>>2345920The eriksen pipes with their clay filters tend to really cut down on the moisture.
>>2345649Here's one of my special occasion pipes. It's a 100+ year(if I remember correctly) old dunhill. Pictures dont really do it justice.Normally I smoke a miss. Meerschaum because I don't have to be all anal about not damaging it. Been smoking orlick golden slice. Nice stuff for the daytime.
>>2346013Another one of my nice ones. Made by some hungarian or something I forget. Smokes great.
>>2345970that shit looks gay>>2346016>>2346013nicei got around to trying orlick recently, its pretty good but i think i still prefer escudo navy de luxe
>>2346016That pipe is sexy as fuck. Also clean your finger nails anon.
>>2345970You can use the clay Nording keystones or anything like it in any pipe. You don't need a special pipe. I drop a few in the bottom or all of my pipes to cut a little moisture and it also cuts down on dottle and makes it easier to smoke all of your tobacco to ash. You can also reuse them a few times.
>>2346444Oh I know, I've used them in my other pipes, I just really like the eriksen pipes because the chamber that holds them is neat and easy to clean.I mean you can see it on the packaging.
I'm really intrigued by the idea of the Petersen System but not enough to go drop 100 bucks on one. Does any other company make a half decent System knockoff for cheaper I can try out?
Damn, I thought a peach aromatic would be interesting for southern summer indoor smokes, and it seems every single one is considered to be shit. Why must it be this way...
>>2346013>>2346016>>2346947how much do you guys pay for the tobacco?and how many times you can smoke with it?
>>2346956i wanna buy link related, i m a newbie and don t wanna spend too much on something i might not like, so i was wondering how much it would cost if i smoked it twice a week. https://www.amazon.it/joyoldelf-tabacco-intagliato-classici-Accessories/dp/B06XCL9X4C/ref=sr_1_25?__mk_it_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=3HP5DINT3IEMC&keywords=pipa&qid=1650391860&refinements=p_36%3A-3000&rnid=490259031&s=hpc&sprefix=pipa%2Chpc%2C97&sr=1-25
>>2346957Here in the US you can usually just buy a bagged ounce (28.3g) of something for $3-4 if you are starting out. As for a pipe, if you are in Italy you could probably get an old Savinelli inexpensively and you'll have a pipe you'll never have to replace.
>>2346956It's pretty inexpensive. Some websites sell 1oz bags of bulk tobacco for like 3 bucks. Not a great deal, but you can try quite a few different blends for not much. You should get like 5-8ish bowls with 1 oz I think.
>>2346966any brand of tobacco you d suggest?up until this point i have smoke chocolate flavored cigars (the italian toscanellos).but i also love a mild/smooth flavor.i ll follow your advice and look up for some salvinelli on fb marketplace or small shops around>>2346968is it cheaper to buy them online or they are the same price as the shop ones?
>>2346969Dunno about a specific brand as I dunno what's available easily in Italy. Cornell and Diehl and Sutliff both have good things to try in that 3-4 per oz range in the US. Peterson is a very good brand as well, but usually you have to buy 2oz tins for $10 or so.
>>2346526I wish I knew of one. Let us know if you'll find one.
>>2346957If you're Italian, go to the tobacco shop and don't buy from Amazon. If you want a cheap pipe they should have something like Lorenzo Spitfire from Pavia for €10. Also if you go to the tobacco store you can smell the different tobaccos and maybe buy small test samples if they offer open tobacco. Savinelli is a good mid range brand from Italy, but then Italy has many excellent brands and makers. Ser Jacopo, Dacordi, Caminetto, Berebbia etc.For tobacco, there is aromatics (everything that has been sauced and spiced with something like Rum or Chocolate or Vanilla) and naturals. Naturals are divided into "English" which includes fire smoked Latakia tobacco and orientals amongst other things and has a very distinctive taste and there is Virginia blends which contain mostly Virginia and maybe some Perique to spice things up. So best to try one of each to see what you like. Also Schürch, always Schürch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec2ztyIBI_Q
>>2346983>Cornell and Diehl The problem with C&D and also GL Pease is they cost considerably more than EU made tobaccos because of import taxes and all it costs double that what the most expensive Euro tobaccos cost.
>>2346526Actually that system with separate condensation used to be pretty common in older pipes. I have two NOS BBK's that have that and even more special, they have two drilled smoke channels from the condensation chamber to the bowl. Pic related. They used to be really cheap on Ebay/Ricardo, but I haven't seen them cheap lately.
>>2346969>is it cheaper to buy them onlineDepends. If you have a really good tobacco shop near you, you're in luck. You know a good tobacco shop when they have a bunch of bulk blends in jars in the back for $5 or less an ounce. Most tobacco shops aren't like that. They're one of two categories--either they're dudebro weed shops with a pitiful selection of hardwood pipes and brand name tobacco (most of this will be Gambler or some such that is really RYO cigarette tobacco--stay away!). The best you can get at these stores is probably Borkum Riff or Captain Black. Or, on the other extreme, they're snobby ass cigar shops that have a decent selection of pipe tobaccos... at exorbitant prices. Either way you'll be paying $10 or so an ounce, and in that case buying online is cheaper if you live in a non cucked location. What you really want is a tobacco shop oriented towards the working class, everyday pipe smoker which are becoming a rarity.
>>2347289>tobacco shop oriented towards the working class, everyday pipe smoker which are becoming a rarity. No real market for it beyond cigarettes and chaw. Working class people just get drunk or smoke weed nowadays.
>>2347569My local shop was telling me pipe tobacco is on an upswing of stuff they are selling.People seem to like it, I know I do. Hell they are selling non aromatic in bulk.
>>2347289>When you're north American and project that the whole world is the stereotype shitholeYea sorry, I got decent tobacco shops here, they have nice cigars and jars full off bulk tobacco mixtures at decent prices.
Who else has ordered theirs?
Can someone reccomend me a pipe for my WWII german impression? Was looking at this one but it's a bit expensive. It is made in Germany though https://www.tobaccopipes.com/vauen-deluxe-66n-tobacco-pipe/Bascially most pipes they used were on the short side, about 6" and straight with a shorter bowl so they easily fit in a tunic pocket.
>in my spare time I larp as naziwhat a surprise.
>still havnt found a nice Oom Paulsad
>>2347935give me one good reason against this!
>>2347859Kek, I'm almost tempted.
>>2346947Following up on this, has anyone tried Brigadier Black's blends? They have a peach aromatic, Gettysburg, that's well reviewed. Only one I can find.
>>2347569There are a bunch of geriatric fucks living on social security that still smoke a pipe daily. Maybe I should start looking for shops near a nursing home... Besides like >>2347618 said I think it might be because people took up pipe smoking as a pandemic hobby>>2347707Hey it could be worse, at least I'm not like the kiwi in the last thread, don't look up tobacco prices in NZ unless you want to fucking cry
>>2347951If i found that estate, i would buy it in a heartbeat
>>2347951Pretty close to my silver banded Savinelli, I had an Oom Paul once, probably my favourite pipe of all time, but fitingly i lost it camping, rest in peace
>>2348679They still make that model, €175 for the rusticated version. >>2348684Thats some nice burl on that pipe. love that finish.
>>2348675fair enough, just saying there is many good online pipe shops in Euroland where you can mailorder pretty much every tobacco there is and depending on country many places still have good ole tobacco shops with house mixtures in big jars.
>>2348722And most urban areas in the US have good shops too, I just live in bumfuck nowhere. The nearest really great tobacco store is 3 hours away from me. I order most of my shit on 4noggins where the prices are pretty decent.Still glad I'm not a Eurofag and I live in the original great tobacco nation
>>2348722Where to get airtight jars like that?
>>2348727You can get them at Walmart or Amazon. But I usually buy them at thrift stores, there are always a ton of them for like $2.A lot of them (not that big but same style) are actually old scented candle jars but who cares as long as they have been cleaned thoroughly, glass doesn't hold smells and flavors
>>2345649Only smoked black and milds before, what do you guys recommend for getting into pipe smoking? I knew an old guy who used a pipe, he always had flavored tobacco.
>>2348731Do they actually seal airtight for proper storage? I usually use mason jars but would like something like that to mix it up and perhaps be more space efficient.
>>2348734Can't go wrong starting out with Lane 1-Q. Mild, mellow as hell, really sweet and pleasant room note without tasting fake or sticky. Great beginner's tobacco. If you want to buy in person you can get Captain Black Royal for a similar good beginner's aromatic but it is more expensive and not quite as good.4noggins.com sells samplers that you can get once you get a little more into the hobby, to help you expand your palate and figure out what your tastes are.
>>2348739Yeah, they seal pretty airtight, I use them to store other herbs. Mason jars are probably a little better but I doubt it makes much difference.
>>2348718>Thats some nice burlthanks man, its definitely my nicest pipe besides my meerschaum, but its actually broken up at the bit>new years eve 2019, outside smoking>sneeze, involuntary clamp down teethcracked the bit, but with the softie rubber its fine
>>2348990Well, you live in Denmark(?), so there should be plenty pipe shops that can repair that or make a new stem, no?
>>2347859Can someone explain this to me? It's just a piece of hickory branch bored out to make a pipe?
>>2347859>>2349163Yeah, what the fuck? You could fucking make that pipe with a drill, some sandpaper, and a couple pieces of wood in no time, who would buy that?
>>2347068i went to all the tobacco shops nearby, i only found some salvinelli starting at 85 euros.i wanted to start with something cheap, just in case i don t like it.so i checked some of the replies in the previous thread and looked on amazon as well, i found these candidates:https://www.amazon.it/PIPA-PANNOCCHIA-MISSOURI-LEGEND-DIRITTA/dp/B00TTYVBJC/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_it_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=1X0SYRSMHH6SU&keywords=pipa+missouri&qid=1650639465&s=hpc&sprefix=pipa+missouri%2Chpc%2C82&sr=1-1lots of people said the missouri are the best for starters.https://www.amazon.it/joyoldelf-tabacco-intagliato-classici-Accessories/dp/B06XCL9X4C/ref=sr_1_25?__mk_it_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=3HP5DINT3IEMC&keywords=pipa&qid=1650391860&refinements=p_36%3A-3000&rnid=490259031&s=hpc&sprefix=pipa%2Chpc%2C97&sr=1-25https://www.amazon.it/Joyoldelf-tabacco-Liscio-Piegato-Supporto/dp/B01580TW96/ref=sr_1_9?__mk_it_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=3HP5DINT3IEMC&keywords=pipa&qid=1650391860&refinements=p_36%3A-3000&rnid=490259031&s=hpc&sprefix=pipa%2Chpc%2C97&sr=1-9otherwise i was considering getting one of these 2 so i can get the tools to clean them as well.most reviews are satisfied but a few complain about some defects.ever used one of those brands?
>>2349254If you can get a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob and don't mind the idea of a cob just go with that. They're great pipes and no new-bought briar anywhere near the same price will compete with it.
>>2349258what about the tools? what should i get?
>>2349261A Czech tripple tool and whatever cheap cleaners you find. Get a mason jar or at least some ziploc bags to keep your tobacco from drying out.
>>2349261Czech tool, pipe cleaners.Personally I'm not a fan of filters.
>>2349285Cobs have either no filters at all or some weird rolled cardboard filters that nobody uses. I don't like classic filters, but as of lately I enjoy some roll your own cardboard filters in those pipes that have 9mm filter chamber. It does a nice job at keeping condensation down and not fucking with draw or taste.
>>2349290I've been using the nording keystones and I have been liking them.
>>2347082What do you call a pipe with that shape and those features?
>>2349551Not sure, those shapes are largely indigenous forms at home in Switzerland. The Swiss would call that Älplerpfeife or Sennenpfeife (meaning mountain men pipe) but would use a geographic name for the specific type common in that region. This specific one would be a 77 Vaudoise after the canton of Vaud.
>>2349564If you're into rustic alpine pipes check out Lindauerli, only pipe meant to be smoked upside down.
>>2349164it's like 25$. that's how much you'd spend in material anyways to make your own. unless you live somewhere where hickory grows I guess
thinking of getting one of these, thoughts?
>>2350399Afaik Rossi is only another one of the Savinelli brand names. But yeah, nice classy pipe, go for it.

>>2350837Just out of interest, in what country do people Nazi larp in their spare time?
>>2351017Most countries with mass immigration, so, most of Europe. Enough about that tho, can't we just talk comfy pipes?
>>2350427Sometimes the wood isn’t remarkable, and while briar is fireproof, it isn’t the best wood to use if you really like figuring, because there are SO many flaws in the wood. Pipe buyers demand flawless finishes with no sand pits or putty fills, which means only about 1% of briar blocks can make really good smooth finish pipes. Most of the rest get rusticated finishes because those pipes can’t command more money anyway, so doing anything more is useless.
>>2351114I'm from Europe, never heard about anybody Nazi larp ever. That's why I'm curious .Like who would go Nazi larping, and why?>>2351121I get the plan ws rough, but why not just sandblast it in that case? Even non spectacular wood looks nice and organic and they can use putty on the pits just the same.
>>2349069brought it to pretty much the biggest pipe shop in Denmark, and the cost the repair would be double the price of the pipe, and im not spending over 200usd for a repair job, i could even find a guy who could do it, old vulcanized ebonite can be sketchy man
>>2351127I take back what i said about nazi larping and immigration, i dont know fuck about shit.
>>2351127Because sandblasting it isn’t that cheap. Especially if you want it done well. Just wanting a bit of texture is one thing, but the really deep blasts involve multiple rounds of blasting, and in between wiping it down with olive oil, heat curing the oil, and letting it dry before blasting again. It’s not cheap at all.

When i smoke my pipe i really start thinking. You know, about life and such, about advanced race theory and how great the white race is.
Alright, Im gonna post my thoughts here.I've tried cigarettes many times, most of them partying. Two years ago I ejoyed ciggys, but now I really cant stand them, specially if they're not snuff rolling (yeah, its popular to smoke snuff rolling in Spain idk about the US), wich I find much more ejoyable and even then, I dont like them very much. The thing is, sometimes I'd love to enjoy a nice pipe or something when Im out, cause I think i'll be in heaven if I manage to enjoy it. >Do you think I should try smoking a pipe or will it be a waste of time and money?>wich tobacco would you recomend me smoking?>Is there some snuff rolling tobacco that some non smoker could easly enjoy?
>>2352073I would at least give it a try if you’re interested. Just buy a cheap cob pipe and a couple ounces of a bulk tobacco blend. If you don’t mind the flavor of rolling tobacco, I would think you’d enjoy pipe tobacco. I’d start with a burley or straight Virginia blend just to see how you’d like a base pipe blend. After you get used to those, I’d move to either aromatics or English blends. I’d personally recommend English blends, as they’re super full of flavor, but if you feel like you want less of a tobacco taste and just want something to puff on while you’re out, aromatic blends might be the choice for you.

Got my tax returns and I’m about to buy a few new pipes, but I have some questions. Does anybody have experience with Rossi pipes? Is the smoking quality any less than that of Savinelli? I’m not worried about cosmetics, or which was has the better grain, or which is more symmetrical, etc. I’m just looking to see if it smokes well, has good drilling, and dissipates heat well. I’m looking for a 320 l, and a Rossi 8320 is about $40 cheaper than a Savinelli 320. From what I’ve seen on YouTube, people seem pretty happy with their Rossi pipes, even if they aren’t nearly as elegant as a mid-high end Sav. Just wanted to make sure before I buy one.
>>2345649I like buttered rum and aristocrat flavors.
>>2353350Rossi used to be an independent pipe maker, Savinelli bought their business and now Rossi is just a Savinelli brand. It's made by the same people on the same machines as their budget line.

Had to ask because this is kind of specific and finding info about this seems to be difficult.I got to harvest this apple tree and was thinking it'd be fun to carve a pipe or a few. But the tree has this slight rot in the middle of the trunk(the dark areas). Does this hider my diy path to smoking while /out/? Is or toxic or something?
Why is it everyone talks shit about how horrible lakelands are and how they ruin pipes, yet lakelands are always sold out?
>>2351938Pretty much. This is the last desperate attempt cry for masculinity in their life.
>>2354617Heartwood? Yes. It will kill you to death.
>>2354694Lakelands are fucking delicious. I remember the first time I ordered Ennerdale Flake I was kinda nervous because I read that it was a love it or hate it blend. The people who hate it say it smells like a dead old lady in a funeral home after they put the perfume on her. The people who love it say it’s pure bliss. When I opened up my bulk bag, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t get the overwhelming floral perfume scent like everybody was taking about. I got a beautiful tonka bean, citrus, almond aroma. To be fair, it did have an almost baby powder smell to it, but baby powder just smells like tonka bean anyway. Still not anywhere close to the “flowery perfume” I kept hearing people complaining about. And taste wise, the topping is even less present. There are high quality Virginias in that blend that overpower the Lakeland essence. I actually just ordered 200g more of Ennerdale Flake today on Smokingpipes as it’s the one Gawith blend that seems to remain in stock. Stonehenge Flake is also another good one that’s easily available. But anyway, as long as you dedicate a pipe to Lakeland blends, it doesn’t matter how much it ghosts it.
>>2355086Hmm is it heartwood though? the way is spreads towards the sides makes it suspicious.MIght be two different things though. Fuck
>>2354402Are you jewish or something?
>>2355091Oh yeah I love Lakelands, just annoying I can't order them whenever I please. I'd been on the mailing list for smokingpipes and a few months back they restocked and I could have grabbed everything I wanted but I was a bit tight on money and didn't pull the trigger. Really regret it now lol. I've still got a good amount of a few of them, but I've run out of the old lady perfume stuff. Need some more Grasmere or Broken Flake no. 7. Been meaning to try Ennerdale too, but it looked like they were sold out... Just checked though, I've gotten used to only doing bulk, didn't notice they have tins. Usually I just order the 250/500 gram boxes of stuff. Right now I'm just sitting on a pile of brown flake scented and dark flake scented. Not really too keen on the dark flake scented, something about it just doesn't agree with me.Also kind of wondering now if I need to dedicated a pipe to different types of Lakelands. Got two dedicated pipes, plus a couple of clays I use for whatever. But my dedicated briar I've only used for the fruitier stuff, and then I've got an old meer that I've used primarily for the hardcore floral stuff. Probably best to keep the two distinct.

>>2356917I got a Savinelli petite
>>2357228I made a shitty quick one on a whim. I bought a cheap estate pipe on Ebay, only got to smoke it once and then snapped it like a retard, leaned on something wrong while carrying it in my jacket pocket. So I found a birch tree with a little fork in the branch, cut and drilled it out and then attached the stem socket to it (it was an old pipe with the screw-in stem). It doesn't sit as well as I had hoped but it smokes better than it has any right to
>>2357265Wow. That rustication is amazing. Looks so natural!
>>2357268It's about as rustic as it gets... I kind of like leaving the bark on there, I think I might laquer it or something to preserve the bark.More likely I will make another pipe like it but better, this one is just like a prototype. I'll find a whiter birch tree with a nicer pattern and cut it so it actually sits on its own, then laquer that one
>>2357270Keep on posting them! Pretty cool. You could even make a matching tamper like I got with this rusticated savinelli.Does the spruce add a nice flavor compared to briar or corn?
>>2357275Will post my next attempt when I get around to making it. I won't make a tamper, I have an irrational hatred of pipe tampers because just use a fucking nail you pretentious twats.>cut a pipe out of a birch tree>does the spruce add a nice flavorCityfag detected. Birch != spruce. Spruce is a softwood and making a pipe out of softwood would be retarded, it would seep out pine pitch and taste disgusting. Same reason you don't normally burn it in a fireplace. But to answer your question, no, it didn't add a nice flavor. It actually added kind of an unpleasant tang on the first smoke but has been pretty neutral since then. This may be because I used a green birch branch, if I had let it season for a year before trying to make a pipe out of it I would probably have had better results, but as I said this was a quick and dirty project.
>>2357289Drilling + hammering a nail into a nice piece of birch branch might be nice and take like 5 minutes of your time at most.It sounds like fun looking for the prettiest/nicest piece to make a pipe from.Thankfully I'm not a cityfag just a thoughtless mistake.

>>2357733i often drink beer, dark beer is nice, i prefer it compared to the light one, i usually drink the double malt peroni https://duckduckgo.com/?q=peroni+gran+riserva+scura&t=ffab&atb=v320-3&iax=images&ia=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.planethoreca.it%2Fshop%2F8663-thickbox_default%2Fbirra-peroni-gran-riserva-doppio-malto-50cl-vap-12pz-x-ct.jpg
>>2357733Not that guy but what would you recommend me? I like bourbon and rye whiskey, Knob Creek is my go to, and I like Bock beer the best. >>2357865If you like dark, malty beers that are more sweet than hoppy I'd suggest a straight Virginia or something Virginia heavy. A good Virginia and Burley blend would work too.The second tobacco I smoked was Mac Baren Mixture (AKA Scottish, don't be fooled though, it's not a Scottish blend at all) and that could be right up your alley. It's a fairly sweet tobacco with a variety of flavors and the Mac Baren tobaccos seem fairly cheap on that list you provided. It has sweet hay, grass and fruits from the Virginia, earth, wood and nuts from the Burley and Kentucky and some sweet spice from the Cavendish. Can burn hot though so smoke slowly.>>2357910If you like earthy and woody flavors Burley based blends could be your thing. Burley tends to carry those flavors. Maybe a flake cut tobacco too, those tend to taste a bit stronger and deeper.Oriental could be your thing too, they have a more dry taste and carry a spicy taste. I can also be like dry flowery bitterness of excessive hops though. For you too I can recommend Mac Baren Mixture Scottish Blend, it has a multitude of flavors going on and which one takes the foreground varies a bit from bowl to bowl.Heavily topped tobaccos I'd recommend staying away from.Try something heavy on Virginia as well, they're fairly sweet but not candy like as Cavendish can be.In my experience boomers at tobacco stores often recommended you weak aromatics which smell good initially (but will still make your house and everything in it reek of tobacco smoke if smoked inside) but don't taste like anything. Mac Baren Mixture is technically also an aromatic but actually has some taste. Might as well light a scented candle if you just want aroma. Having said that I'd also recommended you to try out the different blends and kinds of tobacco out there. Smoking a strong English or VaPer for the first time is quite an experience.I like reading up on tobaccos on this website on tobaccoreviews.com, good website.

I realize now I’ve been packing way too tight. I’ve only been into pipes since January. I always figured that if the draw was good, the pack was fine. I didn’t take into account oxygen or problems with tamping. So while my draw was always fine, I was packing too densely for the tobacco to get any oxygen or for it to be tamped correctly. My tobacco was constantly going out, and while the first quarter of the bowl was excellent, the rest of the bowl became increasingly muddled and harsh. So the past couple days I’ve been experimenting. I got rid of the gentle-firmer-firmest three pack method and just went gentle-gentle-gentle. Now my bowls smoke to the bottom with a consistent flavor and burn.
Anons who don’t like latakia, can you enlighten me as to why? Not judging, just genuinely curious. The first time I had it I fell in love. I’ve always loved the smell of campfires and fireplaces in the wintertime
>>2358637Damn calm down, did Gawith stop making tobacco or something?
>>2358565>>2358582I always just run through a pipe cleaner covered in >100 proof whiskey. If there are bad flavors or a shit ton of caked on shit you can carefully ream out the bowl with sandpaper but I have never had to do that.

>>2358804People are just impatient I guess, Gawith gets restocked over like a 6 month or one year interval, can't remember. So for the 5 months its out of stock, people freak out.
>>2358565Clean the cake out, then fill the bowl with non iodized salt, and put a few drops of high proof unflavored alcohol in there. I use everclear. It'll suck a lot of gunk out of the wood. Once the salt turns black, dump it and repeat until it stops getting dark.As for the stem, if its vulcanite, clean it up with micromesh or failing that a mild abrasive like toothpaste, buff it with some wool or whatever and rub it down with mineral oil.
Just bought a new Rossi 8802 from my local B&M. I’m almost certain I’m gonna dedicate it to lakelands. Breaking it in with some PS luxury navy flake right now.
>>2358565Every so often (couple months or so give or take) I’ll dip a pipe cleaner in some high proof whiskey or vodka and just run it through as I normally would. I try to stick with stuff that has the least flavor just to make sure none of it spills over to the tobacco. Granted I only smoke 3-4 times a week at the most and always run cleaners through every time so its not like I have a constantly lit chimney. >>2358886Looks pretty nice anon, how much did it run you? My main pipe is a Brigham briar and it was around $40.
>>2358954>how much did it run you?$75. Could’ve got it for $66 online, but I would’ve had to pay for shipping anyway. Smokes like a charm. The drilling in the shank is slightly off center, but it doesn’t affect the performance in any way.
>>2358804It might as well be with how hard it is to get in the US. Like the other anon said, it only shows up once or twice a year, and when it does it goes extremely quick. Not nearly as quick as Esoterica blends which sell out in less than 24 hours, but they usually sell out within a few days max.

Ive tried smoking it slow and cool, fast and hot, multiple pipes, and no luck. Im afraid I wasted a tin by not immediately jarring it after opening, the tin has been open for about 5months

Anybody ever have problems with Tobaccopipes? I placed an order for two tins on Wednesday around noon. My order still says “awaiting fulfillment”, meaning it hasn’t even shipped yet and they’re still waiting to pack it. Is that normal for Tobaccopipes?
>>2361148Just rehydrate the tin. I use those little metal discs with clay inside to rehydrate. They're usually referred to as pouch moisteners. Soak them for a few minutes in distilled water and then add them to the tin/jar for a few days. Halfway through I mix up the tobacco so it rehydrates evenly. Brings back the flavor for me.
Trying this for the first time. I’ve been trying to get into straight Virginia blends, and I was intrigued by the high reviews for this. Just based on my first bowl, this may be the all day blend I was looking for. It’s sweet, bready, with a tangy grass and fruit after taste with just a bit of spice.

>>2358687started doing the gentle-gentle-gentle after seeing this post and it's been working pretty good for me. thanks
>>2366661I heard that the three pack method really is the best method, BUT it’s also the hardest to get right. I remember reading somewhere, it could’ve been on one of these threads, that it’s better to pack gently and get less smoking time than to attempt the three pack method and ruin your bowl. That’s why I decided to try the gentle-gentle-gentle instead. Glad it’s working for you too.
>>2366611we´ve had sweeping new legislation on tobacco sales here, now all tobacco products have to be behind a screen so you cant even see them, to proteck MUH CHIILDREEREEN from starting smoking, which is pretty retarded becaause what makes smoking cooler? thats right, it being scarcer.i started pipe smoking casually when i was 20, an informed choice, been doing it for 7 years, my doctor wont even write smoker on my patient log. but OH NO TOBACCO BAD! (government still want the taxes on it thought hehe winkie face)
This may not be the best straight Virginia out there (that's a given really) but this is my favorite all day baccy.Pack it loosely and sip gently and it will give you a nice, cool, sweet bright Virginia taste, maybe even some licorice at the end. No complex flavors to ponder over, but a solid pleasant taste.Packs little to no nicotine so can be smoked whenever.Nice natural smell. Can burn for 45 minutes even when packed loosely. And, most importantly (for me) readily and steadily available at my local tobacco shop.
Post cool pipe lighters? I'm thinking about getting something other than a BIC or matches but it seems most of the unique designs are Chinese.

Had a bad cold/sinus infection last week and couldn’t taste or smell shit for 3 days. Absolutely no taste at all. I’m starting to get my taste back, and of course one of the first things I decided to do was smoke my pipes. However, everything I’m smoking tastes a bit sulfurous. Anybody have any tips to get my palate back?
>>2369361Chill out of a week dude. I haven't used a pipe since winter
>>2369886>smoking weed causes long term anxiety issues and paranoia>I will never understand why people cant fixate on the fixation I have !>I should post about it on a thread that explicitly states what it is for, and what it isnt>my breaking the topic will show how orderly my way isTake your addiction elsewhere
>>2369926Sunshine gives you cancer.
>>2369926>your salty innit? You came to a thread to shitpost, weakly.>your addictionI just said I havent since winter, how long has it been since your last buzz, boy ?>only what big pharma tells me causes cancerall that glitters is gold>I think it is a lot less serve than fucking cancer wouldn't you say, hmm??"serve"? I don't understand this last part, other than pic related
>>2369935>unrelated tangents>is actually getting mad about a claim that weed doesnt calm you downPoetry. I also note you didn't answer when your last puff puff was kid. Just now, wasn't it?
>>2369945youre high right now, so I expect your perception is faulty- but by the sound of it, youre constantly on the edge (addiction) so I am fair to say its just how you think. See:>>2369886>"Smoking weed enhances your connection to nature when your /out/there"This implies calm thinking, but it really is so when paired with>"tobacco is a mild stimulant"in which you contrast the two. One is a stimulant, so the other must be a depressant Do you understand what words mean ?>>2369935and I don't read the quaran I dont know what youre talking about, but to be expected
>>2369967I don't care about your conspiracy theories you follow.>bunch of freshman terms to sound smartTo be expected. You already proved me correct when I said 'bet you just smoked huh, youre addicted' and your response was 'yes' among other petty insults.>I'm not going to argue with youGood, it learns. Now be quiet and stop arguing.Prove you atleast have that much self-restraint on emotions
>>2369970Ah he thinks if you don't like the pharmaceutical companies you must not 'trust the science'
>>2369985>lacks emotional restraint>won't follow-thru on promises to move on>attempts to spam alot of insults, because sensory overload is all he knowsI hope you get help and that is isn't too late for you.
New thread, for bump limit>>2369994>>2369994
This is why weedfags aren't welcome anymore.
>>2369926Any type of smoke is carcinogenic. Period. Furthermore, you’re inhaling that shit into your lungs. Just the fact that you have to inhale weed means it’s inherently more dangerous.
